Повний текст джерелаResearchers across many domains are working to provide solutions that enable integration of objectsand systems into the Internet of Things (IoT). There are two domains which are among the mostimportant ones in IoT. First domain is IoT testing and evaluation. The billions of objects whichare connected to IoT would intercommunicate without any human intervention. Enterprises anddevelopers should be able to test and evaluate different operational scenarios of their systems indifferent environments. Testing environments should be able to exchange services. We present ourarchitecture IoTaaS (Internet of Things Testing As A Service). IoTaaS is a hierarchy of a distributedcloud for testing and evaluating IoT. We also present the pilot implementation of IoTaaS under thecode name CEMAT (Cloud Environment for Mobile Application Testing) which focuses on mobiledevices and their connected objects. The second domain is about communication methods andtechniques. Several IoT applications depend on public data exchange. We present our design toexchange small amount of public data on wireless network without establishing a connection. COLDE(Connectionless Data Exchange) is our extension to protocol the IEEE 802.11. COLDE utilizesthe management frames to allow Wi-Fi devices and access points to exchange small amounts ofdata without having any association. COLDE describes how we can exchange data without beingconnected. Lightweight services concept explains which data could be transferred using COLDE.Simulation experiments and real world implementation are presented along with their results

Повний текст джерелаIn this thesis, it was found that the subject of study of digital technologies is still recent in the field of agricultural economics. Thus, through a scoping review, gaps were identified whose lack of empirical studies, as well as today's digital technologies, can be categorized into four groups: connection, recording, decision and execution. In the milk sector, these innovations increase production, but these advantages are inversely proportional to the intensity of production. In addition, internet connection technologies and decision support tools are beneficial to all farmers whether they are users or not. Since, thanks to their proximity, they manage to capture more agglomeration advantage. Also, it was found that there is a rebound effect as to the impact of these technologies on the manure production. The contributions of the thesis are that, first of all, it represents the first estimations, to our knowledge, of impacts of digital technologies on a farm on a national scale. Indeed, the data still very recent, matching multiple sources was our first challenge. As well, our estimation methods, namely the Two-Stage least square (2SRI) and the Coarsening Exact Matching (CEM), are new approaches and have more relevant results especially in our context of cross-sectional data with endogeneity. Finally, the last contribution is to make recommendations to enable public policies to understand the effects of new technologies and promote the best of them

Повний текст джерелаData-center energy consumption is nowadays a major issue. Intra-data-center networking accounts almost for a quarter of the data-center total power consumption. Optical switching technologies could provide higher power efficiency than current solutions based on electrical-packet switching. This work focuses on optical-packet-switched networks for small- and medium-size data centers. It takes part of the EPOC (Energy-Proportional and Opportunistic Computing) project, which main interest consists on reducing the overall power consumption of a data center partially powered by renewable sources. A key assumption is that our data center does not rely on a dedicated storage network, in order to reduce the consumption of those interconnections. In addition, with the aim of being able to turn off some servers according to the workload and the available energy, the bit rate must be close to 100 Gbit/s. We have chosen, after studying the state of the art of data-center interconnects, a purely passive network architecture based on fast-wavelength-tunable transmitters under the name of POPI.We study POPI's limitations due to its components (insertion loss, tuning range and channel spacing). We then propose an extension called E-POPI that allows to increase the number of connected servers by using several transmission bands. For larger data centers, we propose POPI+, a two-stage infrastructure for intra- and inter-rack communications operating in the C and L bands, respectively. The connection between both stages is done via a transparent gateway in one direction and an opaque one in the other. We discuss different control solutions for both stages.The feasibility of these architectures depends on, among other factors, dealing with bit-rate increasing and power losses of a passive interconnect. Coherent long-distance-transmission techniques are not currently suited to data centers. We therefore studied PAM 4 and 8 modulation formats with direct detection. On one hand, by simulation, with different bit rates (up to 112 Gbit/s) and receivers (PIN, APD and SOA-PIN) and, on the other hand, experimentally, at 12 and 18 Gbit/s. We have developed a method for compensating the distortions generated by the different network components. Our method takes into account a good tradeoff between correction accuracy and computation time.Simulation results allow us to determine the amount of insertion loss that may be supported. We then combine these results with the limitations of transmitters-tuning range and channel spacing using multiple of 12.5 GHz slots for dimensioning the proposed architectures. POPI, E-POPI and POPI+ interconnects allow the connection of 48, 99 and 2352 entities, respectively, at 112 Gbit/s. Our assessments take into account a potential dispersion of the characteristics of the main architecture components

Повний текст джерелаDespite of the large success of IOT, most of its applications are based only on static actuation. However, adding an active role for actuators will be needed, in order to optimize the systems where they are present. To achieve this goal, in this thesis, we introduce a new concept called Internet of Heterogeneous Things which takes into account both static and dynamic actuation. The dynamic actuation is provided by a mobile robot or a mobile sensor. In this case, we exploit the potential of controlled mobility by proposing efficient algorithms to maintain the global connectivity among devices. We show by simulation the efficiency of the proposed algorithms and their performance in terms of convergence time, connectivity, and traveled distance. Once the connectivity among devices is guaranteed, another major challenge that should be solved is the huge amount of data they generate and transmit. To tackle this problem, we propose a Bayesian Inference Approach which allows avoiding the transmission of high correlated data. Belief Propagation algorithm, coupled with the Markov Random Field model, is used in this case to reconstruct the missing sensing data. According to different scenarios, our approach is evaluated based on the real data collected from sensors deployed on indoor and outdoor environments. The results show that our proposed approach reduces drastically the number of transmitted data and the energy consumption, while maintaining an acceptable level of inference error and information quality

Повний текст джерелаIn this thesis we propose two network schemes with admission control for TCP elastic traffic using simple mechanisms. Both schemes are able to provide different throughputs and isolation between flows, where a flow is defined as a sequence of related packets within a TCP connection. Regarding to the architecture, both use packet classes with different discarding priorities and an admission control that is implicit, edge-to-edge and based on measurements. In the first scheme, measurements are per-flow, while in the second one, measurements are per-aggregate. The first scheme achieves a good performance using a special modification of TCP sources, while the second scheme achieves a good performance with standard TCP sources. Both schemes have been evauated succesfully through simulation in different network topologies and traffic loads.
