This article charts the gradual sexualization of marriage in twentieth-century Greece, exploring both expert and lay ideas. First, through official writings and marital correspondence, it sketches the subtle transformation of the nineteenth-century ideal of conjugal love into a more sexualized emotion by the turn of the century. Then, it analyzes the writings of “sex experts” and the correspondence with their clients, showcasing how sexual pleasure became a priority within marriage after World War II. Lastly, the records of a postwar mental health service show that by the late 1970s, the consensus on the importance of mutual sexual satisfaction was being established.

Problem proclamation: Social confidence is the primary topic in the public activity. Confidence is "the assumption that emerges inside a local area of standard, legit and agreeable conduct, in view of regularly shared standards". Advancement, social confidence and security are interlaced classifications and have cooperation to one another. Social confidence, as a primary factor in friendly capital, gives social setting to formative projects. This investigation, analyze the effect of Demography variables on the social confidence to other people. As friendly confidence is a vital factor in friendly connection, this investigation is expected to assess such factor as indicated by segment influence. Approach: This examination has been done on existing information about Iranian qualities and mentalities. A few influence like sexual orientation, age, schooling level, work circumstance, conjugal circumstance have been concentrated in this examination. A portion of these influence like training, correspondence to advancement level, particularly in friendly turn of events. Results: Findings of this examination demonstrated that there is huge connection between all of autonomous influence (Gender, age, training level, work circumstance, conjugal circumstance) and social confidence to families and family members, there is critical connection between influence like sexual orientation, schooling level, work circumstance, conjugal circumstance (free influence) and social confidence to companions. Investigating the information showed that, the occupants of less and more created urban areas have distinctive circumstance in confidence. End/Recommendations: This examination presents three kinds of confidence upon the advancement level of social orders. Confidence in Iran is an illustration of confidence structure in creating social orders.

The marriage in 1490 of Francesco Gonzaga, Marquis of Mantua, and Isabella d’Este, daughter of the Duke of Ferrara, cemented an important Italian dynastic alliance and was in no sense a love match. Francesco and Isabella were well aware, however, that they had to establish a harmonious conjugal rapport if the strategic aims of their union were to be realized. This study examines the ways in which the Este-Gonzaga couple built familiarity, affection, and shared interests through frequent letter exchanges that both shaped and facilitated their domestic and political collaboration. The epistolary evidence provides new insights into how an aristocratic Renaissance marriage was experienced by the couple themselves and about the means by which a relationship that was exposed to the full force of contemporary politics, with all its conflicts of dynastic loyalty, was sustained through dialogue and negotiation.

Cet article décrit l’option conjugale « mixte » des descendants d’immigrés d’origine maghrébine, sahélienne et turque en France. Il articule les facteurs culturels et sociaux contribuant au choix conjugal. L’enquête Trajectoires et Origines (INED-INSEE, 2008) fournit des résultats statistiques concernant les options conjugales (couples endogames ou mixtes) et permet de les confronter aux couples entre Français sans ascendance migratoire. Les « couples mixtes » se démarquent des couples endogames et aussi des couples témoins. Tandis que pour leur mise en couple (lieux de rencontres, cohabitation hors mariage) ils correspondent au groupe témoin, ils ressemblent plus aux couples endogames en ce qui concerne leur situation résidentielle et leur inscription religieuse.

Between 1929 and 1932 in a number of villages and towns throughout rural Asante, chiefs were ordering the arrest of all women who were over the age of fifteen and not married. A woman was detained until she spoke the name of a man whom she would agree to marry and the man in question paid a release fee. If the man refused, he too was imprisoned or fined up to £5. If he agreed, he paid a small marriage fee to the woman's parents and one bottle of gin. Based on the correspondence of colonial officials, customary court records and the life histories and reminiscences of women who were among the spinsters caught, this article explores gender and social change in colonial Asante by dissecting and contextualizing the round-up of unmarried women. It seeks to understand this unusual episode in direct state intervention into the negotiating of marriage and non-marriage as part of the general chaos in gender relations that shook Asante in the years between the two World Wars. This chaos, often articulated in the language of moral crisis was, more than anything, about shifting power relationships. It was chaos engendered by cash and cocoa, by trade and transformation. From 1921 to 1935, with cocoa well-established in many parts of Asante, women's roles in the cash economy were changing and diversifying. Many wives were making the move from being the most common form of exploitable labour during the initial introduction of cocoa to themselves exploiting new openings for economic autonomy. That women were beginning to negotiate their own spaces within the colonial economy precipitated a profound crisis in conjugal obligations in Asante - a crisis requiring drastic measures. The rounding up of unmarried women was one of several weapons used by Asante's chiefs in the struggle to reassert control over women's productive and reproductive labour.

The algorithmic unsolvability of the conjugacy problem for finitely presented groups was demonstrated by Novikov in the early 1950s. Various simplifications and alternative proofs were found by later researchers and further questions raised. Recent work by Borovik, Myasnikov and Remeslennikov has considered the question of what proportion of the number of elements of a group (obtained by standard constructions) falls into the realm of unsolvability. In this paper we provide a straightforward construction, as a Britton tower, of a finitely presented group with solvable word problem but unsolvable conjugacy problem of any r.e. (recursively enumerable) Turing degree a. The question of whether two elements are conjugate is bounded truth-table reducible to the question of whether the elements are both conjugate to a single generator of the group. We also define computable normal forms, based on the method of Bokut', that are suitable for the conjugacy problem. We consider (ordered) pairs of normal words U, V for the conjugacy problem whose lengths add to l and show that the proportion of such pairs for which conjugacy is undecidable (in the case a ≠ 0) is strictly less than l2/(2λ - 1)l where λ > 4. The construction is based on modular machines, introduced by Aanderaa and Cohen. For the purposes of this construction it was helpful to extend the notion of configuration to include pairs of m-adic integers. The notion of computation step was also extended and is referred to as s-fold computation where s ∈ ℤ (the usual notion coresponds to s = 1). If gcd (m, s) = 1 then determinism is preserved, i.e., if the modular machine is deterministic then it remains so under the extended notion. Furthermore there is a simple correspondence between s-fold and standard computation in this case. Otherwise computation is non-deterministic and there does not seem to be any straightforward correspondence between s-fold and standard computation.

El machismo como fenómeno social discriminatorio hacia la mujer constituye un problema ampliamente estudiado y vigente en el contexto ecuatoriano actual. En correspondencia con los criterios antes expresados, el objetivo de la presente investigación fue caracterizar las conductas machistas que se manifiestan en la Ciudadela Municipal de Portoviejo y sus efectos en la dinámica familiar de pareja. El estudio se desarrolló con un enfoque metodológico mixto para llevar a cabo una investigación de campo con diseño de investigación no experimental transversal. La muestra quedó conformada por 300 individuos que conformaban 150 parejas conyugales. Los resultados evidenciaron que las principales conductas machistas que se manifiestan en las parejas objeto de estudio y sus efectos en la dinámica familiar fueron: falta de comunicación parental o comunicación caracterizada por reproches, sátiras, insultos y críticas destructivas, generadora de una afectación de las relaciones maritales e intrafamiliares; percepción negativa de la inserción social, política y económica de la mujer sobre la posición jerárquica del hombre en el seno familiar, lo cual conlleva a la disminución de los vínculos afectivos de pareja e intrafamiliares y al maltrato doméstico que limita la capacidad de independencia de la mujer; imposición de la voluntad del hombre en el núcleo familiar e irritabilidad con tendencia a la violencia física, psicológica y sexual contra la mujer cuando no es aceptada dicha imposición; imposición por parte de los hombres de un rol autoritario aceptado por la mujer en el núcleo familiar por temor a dañar la comunicación y el afecto en la relación marital e intrafamiliar. Machist behaviors and its effects on the family dynamic of a couple in the Municipal Citizen of Portoviejo, Manabí ABSTRACT Machismo as a discriminatory social phenomenon towards women constitutes a widely studied and current problem in the current Ecuadorian context. In correspondence with the criteria previously expressed, the objective of this research was to characterize the sexist behaviors that are manifested in the Municipal Citadel of Portoviejo and its effects on the couple's family dynamics. The study was developed with a mixed methodological approach to carry out field research with a non-experimental cross-sectional research design. The sample was made up of 300 individuals who made up conjugal couples. The results showed that the main sexist behaviors that are manifested in the couples under study and their effects on family dynamics were: lack of parental communication or communication characterized by reproaches, satires, insults and destructive criticism, generating an affectation of relationships intrafamily; Negative perception of the social, political and economic insertion of women on the hierarchical position of men in the family, which leads to a decrease in marital and intra-family emotional ties and domestic abuse that limits the independence capacity of women ; imposition of the man's will in the family nucleus and irritability with a tendency to physical, psychological and sexual violence against women when said imposition is not accepted; imposition by men of an authoritarian role accepted by women in the family nucleus for fear of damaging communication and affection in the marital and intra-family relationship. In particular, this correspondence confirms a conjecture that had been given in the OEIS.

AbstractThis paper gives variants of results from classical algebraic geometry and commutative algebra for quadratic algebras with conjugation. Quadratic algebras are essentially two-dimensional algebras with identity over commutative rings with identity, on which a natural operation of conjugation may be defined. We define the ring of conjugate polynomials over a quadratic algebra, and define c-varieties. In certain cases a close correspondence between standard varieties and c-varieties is demonstrated, and we establish a correspondence between conjugate and standard polynomials, which leads to variants of the Hilbert Nullstellensatz if the commutativering is an algebraically closed field. These results may be applied to automated Euclidean geometry theorem proving.

We show that there is a topological conjugacy between the action of the Hecke group Gn on the completed positive real axis and the action of the shift on base n-1 expressions of real numbers in the unit interval. This conjugacy is shown to occur in holomorphic dynamical systems: we construct (n-1:n-1) holomorphic correspondences (multivalued self-maps of the Riemann sphere) which are matings between Gn acting on the complex upper half plane, and polynomials of degree n-1 acting on their filled Julia sets. Certain of these correspondences split into unions of (2:2) and (1:1) correspondences: we present combinatorial descriptions of limit sets and the connectivity locus in the case n=4.

We study two modifications of the Post Correspondence Problem (PCP), namely (1) the bi-infinite version, where it is asked whether there exists a bi-infinite word such that two given morphisms agree on it, and (2) the conjugate version, where we require the images of a solution for two given morphisms are conjugates of each other. For the conjugate PCP we give an undecidability proof by reducing it to the word problem for a special type of semi-Thue systems and for the bi-infinite PCP we give a simple argument that it is in the class Σ20 of the arithmetical hierarchy.

Birational (Cremona) correspondences of two planes П, П' or Cremona transformations on the combined plane П = П' represent an effective tool for design of smooth dynamic curves and two-dimensional lines. The simplest birational correspondence is a quadratic map Ω of plane fields on one another. In the projective definition of the quadratic correspondence can participate two pairs of imaginary complex conjugate F-points set as double points of elliptic involutions on the lines associated with the third pair of F-points. In this case, the imaginary projective F-bundles cannot be used for generation of points corresponding in Ω. A generic constructive algorithm for design of corresponding points in a quadratic mapping Ω(П ↔ П'), set both by real and imaginary F-points is proposed in this paper. The algorithm is based on the use of auxiliary projective correspondence Δ between the points of the planes П, П' and Hirst’s transformation Ψ with the center in the one of real F-points. A theorem on the existence of an invariant conic common to Ω and Δ mappings has been proved. Has been demonstrated a possibility for quadratic mapping’s presentation as a product of collinearity and Hirst’s transformation: Ω = ΔΨ. Has been considered a solution for auxiliary problems arising during the generic constructive algorithm’s implementation: buildup a conic section, that is incident to imaginary points, and plotting the corresponding points in collinearity set by imaginary points. It has been demonstrated that there are two or four possible versions of collinearity for plane fields П, П', set by with participation of the imaginary corresponding points, due to an uncertainty related to the order of their relative correspondence. Have been completely solved the problem of mapping a straight line in a conic section within the quadratic Cremona correspondance of fields П ≠ П', set by a pair of real fundamental points, and two pairs of imaginary ones. It has been demonstrated that in general case the problem has two solutions. The obtained results are useful for the development of the geometric theory related to imaginary elements and this theory’s application in linear and non-linear descriptive geometry, operating projective images of first and second orders.

We define relative dynamical degrees {\lambda_{p}(f|\pi)\geq 1} for any {p=0,\dots,\dim(X)-\dim(Y)}. These degrees measure the relative growth of positive algebraic cycles, satisfy a product formula when Y is smooth and g is a multiple of a rational map, and are birational invariants. More generally, a weaker product formula is proven for more general semi-conjugacies, and for any generically finite semi-conjugacy {(\varphi,\psi)} from {\pi_{2}:(X_{2},f_{2})\rightarrow(Y_{2},g_{2})} to {\pi_{1}:(X_{1},f_{1})\rightarrow(Y_{1},g_{1})} we have {\lambda_{p}(f_{1}|\pi_{1})\geq\lambda_{p}(f_{2}|\pi_{2})} for all p. Many of our results are new even when {\mathbb{K}=\mathbb{C}}. Self-correspondences are abundant, even on varieties having not many self rational maps, hence these results can be applied in many situations. In the last section of the paper, we will discuss recent new applications of this to algebraic dynamics, in particular to pullback on l-adic cohomology groups in positive characteristics.

The main purpose of this paper is to study north–south Smale solenoid diffeomorphisms on$3$-manifolds by using affine Hirsch foliations. A north–south Smale solenoid diffeomorphism$f$on a closed$3$-manifold$M$is a diffeomorphism whose non-wandering set is composed of a Smale solenoid attractor$\unicode[STIX]{x1D6EC}_{a}$and a Smale solenoid repeller$\unicode[STIX]{x1D6EC}_{r}$. The key observation is that a north–south Smale solenoid diffeomorphism$f$automatically induces two non-isotopically leaf-conjugate affine Hirsch foliations${\mathcal{H}}^{s}$and${\mathcal{H}}^{u}$on the orbit space of the wandering set of$f$(abbreviated to thewandering orbit spaceof$f$) by the stable and unstable manifolds of$\unicode[STIX]{x1D6EC}_{a}$and$\unicode[STIX]{x1D6EC}_{r}$, respectively. Under this viewpoint, we build some close relationships between north–south Smale solenoid diffeomorphisms and Hirsch manifolds (the closed$3$-manifolds admitting two non-isotopically leaf-conjugate affine Hirsch foliations).∙On the one hand, the union of the wandering orbit spaces is nearly in one-to-one correspondence with the union of Hirsch manifolds.∙On the other hand, surprisingly, the topology of the wandering orbit space (Hirsch manifold) is nearly a complete invariant of north–south Smale solenoid diffeomorphisms up to semi-global conjugacy.Moreover, as applications, we consider several more concrete questions. For instance, we prove that every diffeomorphism in many semi-global conjugacy classes of north–south Smale solenoid diffeomorphisms are not structurally stable.

Cohomological invariants of twisted wild character varieties as constructed by Boalch and Yamakawa are derived from enumerative Calabi–Yau geometry and refined Chern–Simons invariants of torus knots. Generalizing the untwisted case, the present approach is based on a spectral correspondence for meromorphic Higgs bundles with fixed conjugacy classes at the marked points. This construction is carried out for twisted wild character varieties associated to [Formula: see text] torus knots, providing a colored generalization of existing results of Hausel, Mereb and Wong as well as Shende, Treumann and Zaslow.

Stereo matching is widely used in three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction, stereo machine vision and digital image correlation. The aim of stereo matching process is to solve the well-known correspondence problem, which tries to match points or features from one image with the same points or features in another image from the same 3D scene. There are two basic ways, correlation-based and feature-based, are used to find the correspondences between two images. The correlation-based way is to determine if one location in one image looks/seems like another in another image, and the feature-based way to find if a subset of features in one image is similar in the another image. In stereo matching, a simple algorithm is to compare small patches between two rectified images by correlation search. For the pair images acquired from two cameras inevitably exists some rotation transformation, the algorithm first runs a preprocessing step to rectify the images with the epipolar rectification to simplify the problem of finding matching points between images. The epipolar rectification is to determine a transformation of each image plane such that pairs of conjugate epipolar lines become collinear and parallel to one of the image axes. It will lead the loss of gray information of images. The effect is dependent on the amount of angle. When the angle is big enough, the correlation search may yield error results because of retrograded correlation effect. In order to solve the problem, the paper presents an improved stereo matching algorithm with differential evolution to solve the correspondence problem. Our method doesn’t need to runs the preprocessing step to rectify the images with the epipolar rectification. It uses a differential evolution algorithm to minimize the correlation function which contains the angle information after acquiring the epipoar geometry constraint of two image pairs. Then it utilizes a flood-fill algorithm to search correspondence sub-region in the area around the epipolar line. The flood-fill algorithm can overcome the problem of the traditional row-column scanning search method, which will encounter boundary barrier where exists concave polygons or cavities. The Experimental results show that the proposed method can be easily implemented in stereo matching without loss of information of image features with large rotation angle transformation. In the paper, we will introduce the stereo matching principle and its algorithms, including the differential evolution algorithm for finding the correspondences with large rotation transformation between stereo image pairs and the flood-fill traversal strategy for matching large area with complex concave polygons or cavities. In the end of the paper, some experimental results will be given to illustrate the method effectiveness. It is known that there is a one-to-one correspondence between equivalence classes of primitive indefinite binary quadratic forms and primitive hyperbolic conjugacy classes of the modular group. Due to such a correspondence, Sarnak obtained the asymptotic formula for the class number sum in order of the fundamental unit by using the prime geodesic theorem for the modular group. In the present paper, we propose asymptotic formulas of the class number sums over discriminants on arithmetic progressions. Since there are relations between the arithmetic properties of the discriminants and the conjugacy classes in the finite groups given by the modular group and its congruence subgroups, we can get the desired asymptotic formulas by arranging the Tchebotarev-type prime geodesic theorem. While such asymptotic formulas were already given by Raulf, the approaches are quite different, the expressions of the leading terms of our asymptotic formulas are simpler and the estimates of the remainder terms are sharper.

In this paper, we establish a rigorous correspondence between the two tube algebras, that one comes from the Turaev-Viro-Ocneanu TQFT introduced by Ocneanu and another comes from the sector theory introduced by Izumi, and construct a canonical isomorphism between the centers of the two tube algebras, which is a conjugate linear isomorphism preserving the products of the two algebras and commuting with the actions of SL(2, Z). Via this correspondence and the Dehn surgery formula, we compute Turaev-Viro-Ocneanu invariants from several subfactors for basic 3-manifolds including lens spaces and Brieskorn 3-manifolds by using Izumi's data written in terms of sectors.

In this paper, we show how to give a geometric interpretation of the modular correspondence T3 on the modular curve X(11) of level 11 using projective geometry. We use Klein's theorem that X(11) is isomorphic to the nodal curve of the Hessian of the cubic threefold Λ defined by V2W + W2X + X2Y + Y2Z + Z2V = 0 in P4(C) and geometry which we learned from a paper of W. L. Edge. We show that the correspondence T3 is essentially the correspondence which associates to a point p of the curve X(11) the four points where the singular locus of the polar quadric of p with respect to Λ meets X(11). Our control of the geometry is good enough to enable us to compute the eigenvalues of T3 acting on the cohomology of X(11). This is the first example of an explicit geometric description of a modular correspondence without valence. The results of this article will be used in subsequent articles to associate two new abelian varieties to a cubic threefold, to desingularize the Hessian of a cubic threefold and to study self-conjugate polygons formed by the quadrisecants of the nodal curve of the Hessian.

AbstractSullivan's scaling function provides a complete description of the smooth conjugacy classes of cookie-cutters. However, for smooth conjugacy classes of Markov maps on a train track, such as expanding circle maps and train track mappings induced by pseudo-Anosov systems, the generalisation of the scaling function suffers from a deficiency. It is difficult to characterise the structure of the set of those scaling functions which correspond to smooth mappings. We introduce a new invariant for Markov maps called the solenoid function. We prove that for any prescribed topological structure, there is a one-to-one correspondence between smooth conjugacy classes of smooth Markov maps and pseudo-Hölder solenoid functions. This gives a characterisation of the moduli space for smooth conjugacy classes of smooth Markov maps. For smooth expanding maps of the circle with degree d this moduli space is the space of Hölder continuous functions on the space {0,…, d − 1}ℕ satisfying the matching condition.

In contrast to the canonically conjugate variates q, p representing the position and momentum of a particle in the phase space distributions, the three Cartesian components, Jx, Jy, Jz of a spin-j system constitute the mutually non-commuting variates in the quasi-probabilistic spin distributions. It can be shown that a univariate spin distribution is never squeezed and one needs to look into either bivariate or trivariate distributions for signatures of squeezing. Several such distributions result if one considers different characteristic functions or moments based on various correspondence rules. As an example, discrete probability distribution for an arbitrary spin-1 assembly is constructed using Wigner-Weyl and Margenau-Hill correspondence rules. It is also shown that a trivariate spin-1 assembly resulting from the exposure of nucleus with non-zero quadrupole moment to combined electric quadrupole field and dipole magnetic field exhibits squeezing in certain cases.

In this paper, we extend the notion of Bekenstein–Hawking entropy for a cover of a site. We deduce a new class of discrete dynamical system on a site and we introduce the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy for each member of it. We present an upper bound for the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy of the iterations of a dynamical system. We define a conjugate relation on the set of dynamical systems on a site and we prove that the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy preserves under this relation. We also prove that the twistor correspondence preserves the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy.

There is a well-known correspondence between varieties of algebras and fully invariant congruences on the appropriate term algebra. A special class of varieties are those which are balanced, meaning they can be described by equations in which the same variables appear on each side. In this paper, we prove that the above correspondence, restricted to balanced varieties, leads to a correspondence between balanced varieties and inverse monoids. In the case of unary algebras, we recover the theorem of Meakin and Sapir that establishes a bijection between congruences on the free monoid with n generators and wide, positively self-conjugate inverse submonoids of the polycyclic monoid on n generators. In the case of varieties generated by linear equations, meaning those equations where each variable occurs exactly once on each side, we can replace the clause monoid above by the linear clause monoid. In the case of algebras with a single operation of arity n, we prove that the linear clause monoid is isomorphic to the inverse monoid of right ideal isomorphisms between the finitely generated essential right ideals of the free monoid on n letters, a monoid previously studied by Birget in the course of work on the Thompson group V and its analogues. We show that Dehornoy's geometry monoid of a balanced variety is a special kind of inverse submonoid of ours. Finally, we construct groups from the inverse monoids associated with a balanced variety and examine some conditions under which they still reflect the structure of the underlying variety. Both free groups and Thompson's groups Vn,1 arise in this way.

Coplanarity-based relative orientation (RO) is one of the most crucial processes to obtain reliable 3D model and point clouds in Computer Vision and Photogrammetry community. Whilst a classical and rigorous procedure requires very close approximate values of five independent parameters, a direct method needs additional constraints to solve the parameters. This paper proposes a new approach that facilitates a very fast but stable and accurate solution from five point correspondences between two overlapping aerial images taken form unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flight. Furthermore, if 3D coordinates of perspective centers are available form geotagged images, rotational elements of the RO parameters can be quickly solved using three correspondences only. So it is very reliable for a provision of closed-form solutions for the rigorous methods. Our formulation regards Thompson’s parameterizations of Euler angles in composing a coplanarity condition. Nonlinear terms are subsequently added into a stereo parallax within a constant term under a linear least squares criteria. This strategy is considered new as compared with the known literatures since the proposed approach can find optimal solution. Results from real datasets confirm that our method produces a fast, stable and reliable linear solution by using at least five correspondences or even only three conjugate points of geotagged image pairs.

A prevalência da queixa de cefaléia foi estudada a partir de base de dados gerada por inquérito epidemiológico sobre transtornos neuropsiquiátricos em amostra da população adulta (N=1511) residente em um setor urbano de Salvador, Bahia. A prevalência global de queixas cefaléicas situa-se em 14,8%, significantemente mais elevada entre indivíduos do gênero feminino, mais velhos, menos escolarizados, migrantes, sem ocupação, com baixo nível socioeconómico e casados/amasiados. A análise estratificada mostrou que idade e gênero afetam a associação entre cefaléia e situação conjugal, inserção produtiva e renda per capita. No caso da variável «diagnóstico psiquiátrico», observa-se aumento do efeito correspondente sobre a prevalência de cefaléia, com uma estimativa de risco relativo da ordem de 4,2, a níveis altamente significantes. Os resultados são comparados à literatura internacional, ressaltando-se taxas de prevalência bastante mais reduzidas e padrões de fatores de risco distintos dos encontrados em outros contextos socioculturais.

We construct a class of variational methods for the study of open quantum systems based on Gaussian ansatzes for the quantum trajectory formalism. Gaussianity in the conjugate position and momentum quadratures is distinguished from Gaussianity in density and phase. We apply these methods to a driven-dissipative Kerr cavity where we study dephasing and the stationary states throughout the bistability regime. Computational cost proves to be similar to the Truncated Wigner Approximation (TWA) method, with at most quadratic scaling in system size. Meanwhile, strong correspondence with the numerically-exact trajectory description is maintained so that these methods contain more information on the ensemble constitution than TWA and can be more robust.

Geometric models are considered that allow symbolic representation of imaginary points on a real Cartesian coordinate plane XY. The models are based on the fact that through every pair of imaginary conjugate points A~B with complex coordinates x = a ± jb, y = c ± jd one unique real line m passes. For the image of imaginary points, it is proposed to use the graphic symbol m{OL} consisting of the line m passing through the imaginary points, the center O of the elliptic involution σ with imaginary double points A~B on the line m, and the Laguerre point L, from which the corresponding points involutions σ are projected by an orthogonal pencil of lines. According to A.G. Hirsch, the symbol m{OL} is called the marker of imaginary conjugate points A~B. A theorem is proved that establishes a one-to-one correspondence between the real Cartesian coordinates of the points O, L of the marker, and the complex Cartesian coordinates of the pair of imaginary conjugate points represented by this marker. The proved theorem allows us to solve both the direct problem (the construction of a marker depicting these imaginary points) and the inverse problem (the determination of the Cartesian coordinates of imaginary points represented by the marker). A graphical algorithm for constructing a circle passing through a real point and through a pair of imaginary conjugate points is proposed. An example of the graph-analytical determination of the Cartesian coordinates of imaginary points of intersection of two conics that have no common real points is considered.

An external magnetic field in configuration space coupled to quantum dynamics induces noncommutativity in its velocity momentum space. By phase space duality, an external vector potential in the conjugate momentum sector of the system induces noncommutativity in its configuration space. Such a rationale for noncommutativity is explored herein for an arbitrary configuration space of Euclidean geometry. Ordinary quantum mechanics with a commutative configuration space is revisited first. Through the introduction of an arbitrary positive definite *-product, a one-to-one correspondence between the Hilbert space of abstract quantum states and that of the enveloping algebra of the position quantum operators is identified. A parallel discussion is then presented when configuration space is noncommutative, and thoroughly analysed when the conjugate magnetic field is momentum independent and nondegenerate. Once again the space of quantum states may be identified with the enveloping algebra of the noncommutative position quantum operators. Furthermore, when the positive definite *-product is adapted to the conjugate magnetic field, the coordinate operators span a Fock algebra of which the coherent states are the analogues of the structureless points in a commutative configuration space. These results generalise and justify a posteriori within ordinary canonical quantisation the heuristic approach to quantum mechanics in the noncommutative Euclidean plane as constructed and developed by F. G. Scholtz and his collaborators.

Abstract. On 13 August 2002, at ~23:00 UT, about 10 min after a substorm intensification, Cluster observes a flux rope in the central magnetotail, followed by a localised fast flow event about oneminute later. Associated with the flux rope event, a traveling compression region (TCR) is seen by those Cluster spacecraft which reside in the lobe. In the conjugate ionospheric region in Northern Scandinavia, the MIRACLE network observes the ionospheric equivalent currents, and the electron densities and electric fields are measured by the EISCAT radar along a meridional scanning profile. Further, the auroral evolution is observed with the Wideband Imaging Camera (WIC) on the IMAGE satellite. We compare in detail the substorm evolution as observed in the ionosphere and in the magnetosphere, and examine whether topological correspondences to the flux rope event exist in the ionospheric signatures. The large-scale mapping of both the location and the direction of the flux rope to the ionosphere shows an excellent correspondence to a lens-shaped region of an auroral emission minimum. This region is bracketed by an auroral region equatorward of it which was preexisting to the substorm intensification, and a substorm-related auroral region poleward of it. It is characterised by reduced ionospheric conductances with respect to its environment, and downward field-aligned current (FAC) observed both in the magnetosphere and in the ionosphere. As determined from the ionospheric data, this downward FAC area is moving eastward with a speed of ~2 km s-1, in good agreement with the mapped plasma bulk velocity measured at the Cluster satellite closest to that area. Further southwestward to this leading downward FAC area, a trailing upward FAC area is observed that moves eastward with the same speed. The direction of the ionospheric electric field permits a current closure between these two FAC areas through the ionosphere. We speculate that these FAC areas may correspond to the ends of the flux rope in its symmetry direction.

The superior colliculus is a major brain stem structure for the production of saccadic eye movements. Electrical stimulation at any given point in the motor map generates saccades of defined amplitude and direction. It is unknown how this saccade map is affected by strabismus. Three macaques were raised with exotropia, an outwards ocular deviation, by detaching the medial rectus tendon in each eye at age 1 mo. The animals were able to make saccades to targets with either eye and appeared to alternate fixation freely. To probe the organization of the superior colliculus, microstimulation was applied at multiple sites, with the animals either free-viewing or fixating a target. On average, microstimulation drove nearly conjugate saccades, similar in both amplitude and direction but separated by the ocular deviation. Two monkeys showed a pattern deviation, characterized by a systematic change in the relative position of the two eyes with certain changes in gaze angle. These animals' saccades were slightly different for the right eye and left eye in their amplitude or direction. The differences were consistent with the animals' underlying pattern deviation, measured during static fixation and smooth pursuit. The tectal map for saccade generation appears to be normal in strabismus, but saccades may be affected by changes in the strabismic deviation that occur with different gaze angles.

We find that the degeneracies and many peculiarities of the DNA genetic code may be described thanks to two closely related (fivefold symmetric) finite groups. The first group has signature G=Z5⋊H where H=Z2.S4≅2O is isomorphic to the binary octahedral group 2O and S4 is the symmetric group on four letters/bases. The second group has signature G=Z5⋊GL(2,3) and points out a threefold symmetry of base pairings. For those groups, the representations for the 22 conjugacy classes of G are in one-to-one correspondence with the multiplets encoding the proteinogenic amino acids. Additionally, most of the 22 characters of G attached to those representations are informationally complete. The biological meaning of these coincidences is discussed.

In this note — starting from d-dimensional (with d > 1) fuzzy vectors — we prove Donsker’s classical invariance principle. We consider a fuzzy random walk [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is a sequence of mutually independent and identically distributed d-dimensional fuzzy random variables whose α-cuts are assumed to be compact and convex. Our reasoning and technique are based on the well known conjugacy correspondence between convex sets and support functions, which allows for the association of an appropriately normalized and interpolated time-continuous fuzzy random process with a real valued random process in the space of support functions. We show that each member of the associated family of dual sequences tends in distribution to a standard Brownian motion.

Os autores apresentam algumas características demógrafo-sociais e da atenção médica da população de recém-nascidos dos hospitais de Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brasil, no período de 1°. de junho de 1978 a 31 de maio de 1979, englobando 98% do universo de nascidos vivos, correspondendo a um total de 9048 crianças. São apresentados dados referentes aos pais e mães (idade, escolaridade, hábito de fumar, trabalho, situação conjugal, número e duração das gestações), à atenção ao pré-natal e ao parto (categoria de assistência pré-natal e ao parto, número de consultas no pré-natal e tipo de parto), às crianças (sexo, peso, comprimento e perímetro craniano ao nascer, mortalidade infantil), à classe social, renda familiar e procedência. Demonstrou-se redução significativa da mortalidade infantil no período de 69-70 a 78-79 (p < 0,01). Observou-se uma grande proporção de "fatores de risco" para a saúde perinatal, cuja articulação com as características sociais está sob investigação.

OBJETIVOS: estimar alguns fatores de risco para baixo peso ao nascer, em Guaratinguetá, cidade do Sudeste do Brasil, com dados primários obtidos junto a mães que procuraram o setor de vacinação do Sistema Único de Saúde em 1998. MÉTODOS: estudo transversal com amostra de conveniência e correspondente a 598 mães entrevistadas - 28,9% dos partos ocorridos no ano de 1998. As variáveis independentes foram ganho de peso materno, número de consultas realizadas no pré-natal, paridade, infecção no trato gênito-urinário, hipertensão arterial, outros filhos com baixo peso, tabagismo, idade materna e situações conjugal e trabalhista. Utilizou-se regressão logística e foram estimados os riscos relativos e o risco atribuível populacional; o nível de significância foi p < 0,05. RESULTADOS: as variáveis com significância estatística presentes no modelo final foram idade materna inferior a 20 anos (OR = 2,08), outros filhos com baixo peso (OR = 3,94), ganho de peso igual ou menor que 10kg (OR = 1,69), hipertensão arterial (OR = 2,16), e tabagismo (OR = 2,43). CONCLUSÕES: o controle destes três últimos fatores, que pode ocorrer durante o pré-natal ao contrário dos outros dois, pode reduzir em quase 50% a prevalência de baixo peso ao nascer.

Résumé Le présent article essaie d'esquisser les tendances du changement familial dans une société technologiquement avancée. Les données ont été recueillies auprès de cent cinquante femmes jugées novatrices dans divers secteurs d'activité. Nous leur avons demandé : 1) Que pensez-vous de la famille comme institution ? 2) Quelle serait la relation idéale parents-enfants ? 3) Que pensez-vous du mariage ? 4) Quelle serait la relation idéale entre un homme et une femme ? Les résultats ont été regroupés à partir de trois points de référence qui correspondent aux trois types de société : traditionnelle, industrielle et postindustrielle. Près des deux tiers des mentions définissent une vie familiale qui relève de la société traditionnelle ou industrielle. Par contre, les autres ou bien rejettent ces définitions ou bien se situent en deçà indiquant des dominantes de la vie familiale ou conjugale en devenir.

El presente trabajo procura indagar desde una perspectiva archivística el intercambio sostenido entre Julio Cortázar y el Movimiento Nueva Solidaridad, con motivo del Encuentro de poetas celebrado en México D.F. en febrero de 1964, para estudiar ahí las formas de comunidad que tienen lugar. Mediante la reunión de ciertas cartas de la correspondencia de Cortázar, junto con el boletín Arte y rebelión , resultante del evento intelectual, este trabajo propone una vía de acceso poco visitada para releer la producción cortazariana en ese momento de convergencias poético-políticas en América Latina y el Caribe. La hipótesis principal plantea la emergencia de una cierta comunidad cronópica que tensiona y a la vez se conjuga con la comunidad intelectual latinoamericana nucleada en torno a Casa de las Américas , expresando así la ambivalencia y la complejidad del pulso comunitario que dinamiza la escritura de Cortázar.

La presente investigación es una discusión teórica que problematiza al autoempleo desde el trabajo informal (TI) y la economía social y solidaria (ESS), contextualizándola en la industria textil de Moroleón y Uriangato, Guanajuato. Se centra el autoempleo en las casas-taller porque es en este espacio donde se conjuga una doble cara: la solidaridad y la explotación. A pesar de que informalidad y economía social abordan el tema del autoempleo, éstas corresponden a lógicas diferentes. Ambas son opuestas a la economía capitalista; es decir, se les considera como alternativas al capital, pero se diferencian porque la primera persigue una cultura capitalista y la segunda se basa en prácticas de solidaridad donde el trabajo se antepone al capital. Sin embargo, TI y ES proporcionan ingresos para aquellas personas que se encuentran en situaciones desfavorables o han sido desplazados por la economía de mercado.

The optimized geometries of the methoxy, ethoxy, iso-propoxy and tert-butoxy anions were calculated using the B3LYP/6-311++G(d, p) theoretical level. Thereby, these structures were used to explore their hydration clusters by means of the AGOA methodology. Analyzing the molecular electrostatic potential of the solute and using the TIP4P model to locate the water molecules over the alkoxide anions, it was observed that the energies of the hydration clusters decrease in order from methoxy to the tert-butoxy. These results corroborate the experimental acidity of the correspondent conjugate alcohols, indicating that the AGOA methodology can be used as an efficient computational methodology to appraise the structures of molecules in aqueous media.

An algorithm for modelling and numerical simulation of the three dimensional conjugate heat transfer in slab-embedded snow melting and freeze protecting systems is developed. The influence of the climate conditions on the heat transfer in the constructions is modelled according to the correspondent design method of ASHRAE. The models are verified and solved numerically via finite volume method for a road embedded hydronic installation at different piping configurations. The fluid flow parameters and temperature fields in the construction are obtained at steady state climate conditions, hardest for 95 % of the wintertime for the region. An analysis of the efficiency of the modelled configurations is implemented based on the computed snow-free area ratio of the road surfaces.

Imagery provides a lower cost and efficient way to update the database. Three dimensional objects can be measured by space intersection using conjugate image points and orientation parameters of cameras. However, precise orientation parameters of light amateur cameras are not always available due to their costliness and heaviness of precision GPS and IMU. To automatize data updating, the correspondence of object vector data and image may be built to improve the accuracy of direct georeferencing. This study contains four major parts, (1) back-projection of object vector data, (2) extraction of image feature lines, (3) object-image feature line matching, and (4) line-based orientation modeling. In order to construct the correspondence of features between an image and a building model, the building vector features were back-projected onto the image using the initial camera orientation from GPS and IMU. Image line features were extracted from the imagery. Afterwards, the matching procedure was done by assessing the similarity between the extracted image features and the back-projected ones. Then, the fourth part utilized line features in orientation modeling. The line-based orientation modeling was performed by the integration of line parametric equations into collinearity condition equations. The experiment data included images with 0.06 m resolution acquired by Canon EOS Mark 5D II camera on a Microdrones MD4-1000 UAV. Experimental results indicate that 2.1 pixel accuracy may be reached, which is equivalent to 0.12 m in the object space.
