A necessary and sufficient condition for a homogeneous left invariant partial differential operator P on a nilpotent Lie group G to be hypoelliptic is that π(P) be injective in π for every nontrivial irreducible unitary representation π of G. This was conjectured by Rockland in [18], where it was also proved in the case of the Heisenberg group. The necessity of the condition in the general case was proved by Beals [2] and the sufficiency by Helffer and Nourrigat [4]. In this paper we present a microlocal version of this theorem when G is step two nilpotent. The operator may be homogeneous with respect to any family of dilations on G, not just the natural dilations. We may also consider pseudodifferential operators as well as partial differential operators.

We give a necessary and sufficient condition, of geometrical type, for the uniform decay of energy of solutions of the linear system of magnetoelasticity in a bounded domain with smooth boundary. A Dirichlet-type boundary condition is assumed. Our strategy is to use microlocal defect measures to show suitable observability inequalities on high-frequency solutions of the Lamé system.

We study differential operators of order 2 and establish new energy estimates which ensure that the micro supports of solutions to the Cauchy problem propagate with finite speed. We then study the Cauchy problem for non-effectively hyperbolic operators with no null bicharacteristic tangent to the doubly characteristic set and with zero positive trace. By checking the energy estimates, we ensure the propagation with finite speed of the micro supports of solutions, and we prove that the Cauchy problem for such non-effectively hyperbolic operators is C∞ well-posed if and only if the Levi condition holds.

Some years ago, Radzikowski has found a characterization of Hadamard states for scalar quantum fields on a four-dimensional globally hyperbolic spacetime in terms of a specific form of the wavefront set of their two-point functions (termed "wavefront set spectrum condition"), thereby initiating a major progress in the understanding of Hadamard states and the further development of quantum field theory in curved spacetime. In the present work, we extend this important result on the equivalence of the wavefront set spectrum condition with the Hadamard condition from scalar fields to vector fields (sections in a vector bundle) which are subject to a wave-equation and are quantized so as to fulfill the covariant canonical commutation relations, or which obey a Dirac equation and are quantized according to the covariant anti-commutation relations, in any globally hyperbolic spacetime having dimension three or higher. In proving this result, a gap which is present in the published proof for the scalar field case will be removed. Moreover we determine the short-distance saling limits of Hadamard states for vector-bundle valued fields, finding them to coincide with the corresponding flat-space, massless vacuum states.

Main importance of this work – is to develop of an intensive method for predicting emergencies arising during the exploitation condition during the vegetation period, the possibility of applying the method of mathematical modelling in controlling exploitation condition. The aim of the study is to develop a modern, convenient, simple and accessible mathematical tools, which will give reliable material for predicting the flow dynamics in the channel and making the right decision in emergency situations when complex exploitation of irrigation and drainage systems. The research methodology consists of a review of the existing systems of hydrodynamic equations which describes the flow motion, and adoption from them divergent system of equations. Have been developed mathematical model and a computer program which allows solve a wide spectre of tasks for modelling of flow in an irrigation and drainage system with various difficulties with taking account daily regulation.

Vingt neuf malades au total ont été admis dans le service de pédiatrie avec une infection staphylococcique confirmée ou presumée; ils ont ensuite été traités par un antibiotique à spectre étroit – la flucloxacilline. En dépit de la gravité de leur condition, une guerison a été observée chez tous les malades sauf deux. Il n'a pas été observé d'effets secondaires associés au traitement. A total of twenty-nine children were admitted to the paediatric unit with confirmed or presumed staphylococcal infection and subsequently treated with the narrow spectrum antibiotic – flucloxacillin. Despite the gravity of their condition all but two patients made a satisfactory recovery. There were no side-effects associated with this treatment.

Introduction: Absent in the literature is the category of “criminal spectre” as a macro container that includes all those deviant, antisocial, and psychopathic behaviors, thereby generating confusion and interpretative distortions, as in the case of antisociality and psychopathy among them considered in some cases as synonyms. Methods: Updated the Perrotta-Marciano Questionnaire on the state of awareness of one’s deviant and criminal behaviors (ADCB-Q), from 30 items to 40 items and with 2 subscales to differentiate deviant from antisocial behaviors (ADCB-Q-2), to make comparisons with the Deviant Behavior Variety Scale (DBVS) and the Hare Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R). Results: Statistical analysis showed that the second edition of the test has a well-defined and stable construct (R = 0.999; p ≤ 0.001), and is positively correlated with the other 2 compared tests, the DBVS (R = 0.943) and the PCL-R (R = 0.966). A comparison of comparable items returned an R = 0.999 with a 99.9% equal value. Conclusion: Defining the “criminal spectre” as a dysfunctional pattern consisting of a clinically relevant cross-cutting condition in which the subject manifests deviant, borderline, histrionic, narcissistic, antisocial, and psychopathic behaviors, the Perrotta-Marciano Questionnaire on the State of Awareness of One’s Deviant and Criminal Behaviors (ADCB-Q-2) is a valid, efficient, effective and stable psychometric tool to identify in behavioral profiles all the behaviors that fall within the “criminal spectrum”.

Pour cela, elle doit s’équiper d’équipements de transformation qui lui permettront de produire une plus grande partie de ce qu’elle consomme, sans pour autant peser sur le pouvoir d’achat. À cette fin, il faut que les producteurs s’équipent d’outils qui leur permettront de rester rentables tout en proposant des tarifs équivalents à ceux des produits concurrents importés. Pour réussir ce défi, trouver des outils de transformation capables de produire un large spectre de produits est la condition sine qua non du succès, la taille et la capacité de production des outils classiques habituellement proposés par les fabricants restant surdimensionnés par rapport aux besoins du marché polynésien. La flexibilité de l’outil de transformation sera alors la clef de la réussite de leur projet.

Longtemps ignorée, la douleur des personnes souffrant de pathologie mentale et troubles neuro-développementaux tels que les Troubles du Spectre de l’Autisme (TSA) est considérée comme l’une des plus difficiles à prendre en charge. La douleur non exprimée ne joue plus son rôle d’alerte à la menace vitale et contribue à l’augmentation de la mortalité liée à des pathologies somatiques dans ces populations dites vulnérables, notamment chez les adultes avec TSA [1,4], chez qui la prescription de psychotropes compliquent les mesures d’hétéro-évaluations classiques. Certaines études expérimentales ont montrés que ces groupes de patients présentent des particularités nociceptives avec des seuils à la nociception augmentés ou des réactions paradoxales, mais les résultats sont contradictoires [2]. Les causes de ces phénomènes sont mal comprises. Une atteinte des structures cérébrales impliquées dans l’intégration émotionnelle de la douleur (cortex préfrontal), une augmentation de l’activité opiacée, une dissociation paradoxale entre la réponse comportementale et les réactions neurovégétatives, des possibles anomalies des mécanismes excitateurs responsables de la sommation temporelle, ont contrebalancé les hypothèses plus psychopathologiques de troubles de l’expression de la douleur dans cette condition pathologiques développementales [1,3]. En effet, au-delà de l’atteinte des processus cognitifs, les troubles de la communication chez les personnes avec TSA sont à ce jour considérés comme la principale cible des interventions à mener dans les cadres psycho-éducatifs et thérapeutiques afin de mieux prévenir et dépister la douleur chez ces patients hautement vulnérables. Car si communiquer diminue la douleur, la douleur diminue, elle les capacités de communication déjà altérées dans ces troubles, d’où l’enjeu essentiel des stratégies d’aides à la communication ou communication augmentée, qui ne peuvent plus être considérées en 2014 comme un « si besoin… ».

ONE OF THE MOST NOTICED FEATURES OF OUR TIME IS that global problems are increasing at a faster rate than the evolution of the political capacities to manage them. This is not a new observation, or even a new condition. It has long been part of a pessimistic assessment of the prospects for modern industrial technological civilization that can be traced back to its origins, but has been particularly strong throughout the twentieth century. H. G. Wells's famous comment that ‘human history becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe’ is even more apposite to the contemporary mood than it was when first written. The spectre of communism no longer haunts Europe, but other spectres now haunt the global civilization which developed out of Europe. Some of the key trends of this global civilization threaten at best an era of mounting disorder and chaos in the world system, at worst the survival of the human species itself. The problems are increasing far faster than the ability to find solutions for them.

Résumé Ce travail examine la nécessité de la création d'un double de l'objet dans la pathologie narcissique. L'impossibilité de traverser et d'élaborer le deuil originaire et de constituer un objet intériorisé détermine la nécessité d'en trouver un substitut dans la réalité, substitut qui doit pouvoir être tenu sous contrôle de façon toute puissante et permettre le désaveu de toute différence soi-autre. Cet objet, possédé de façon illusoire, vient à être maintenu dans une condition de non-vie, non-mort. Dans le travail analytique, l'élaboration du deuil originaire passe par l'instauration, l'installation dans le transfert d'un objet de substitution, et par l'élaboration de la relation avec cet objet. L'analyste doit donc tolérer d'être fétiche ou fantôme, et leur donner corps. Le Kolossôs, ici utilisé comme métaphore du rôle de l'analyste dans ce parcours, était dans la Grèce ancienne tant la figurine substitutive de la magie amoureuse, qu'une pierre aux contours humains vagues, utilisée lors des rites funèbres à la place du corps lorsqu'il avait disparu. Sans ce rite de passage, les morts resteraient comme un spectre venant tourmenter les vivants.

The creation of new settlements as a response to the accommodation of household growth was regarded by the Scottish Government from the 1980s to around 2008 as an option of the last resort. This position changed due to significant legislative and policy changes to the Scottish planning system which diluted restrictions on greenfield housing development and removed the right for public hearings into development plan objections in the belief that these procedures hindered economic growth. This paper outlines the evolution of planning policy for new settlements from the 1990s to the present and examines its impact upon proposals for such projects in north-east Scotland. It contends that the removal of the right to hearings into major development proposals is symptomatic of both the post-politics condition which seeks to promote neoliberal values by squeezing out dissenting voices and green light administrative law theory which vests important decisions over citizens’ rights in the hands of unaccountable state bureaucrats. Finally it considers the implications of the current North Sea oil crisis for the development of three new settlements in the area.

Proposed on the occasion of the First Congress of the Soviet writers in Moscow in 1934, the notion of realism coming about in the theoretical debate on architecture in the early thirties of the twentieth century appears to be an ambiguous notion, straddling between idealism and ideology, innovative research and historicist formalism. The failure of socialist realism and the crisis of its emphatic and monumentalist architectural imagery, clearly shows the utopian character of the realist "dream," but also, in some ways, its imaginative power of striving to build a better world. After the Second World War the question of realism comes into discussion again. Especially in Italy realism turn into an alternative to the modern paradigm, no less utopian, but open for the emerging postmodern American ideas as well as for the architecture of the "Tendenza." The paper proposes a survey on the twentieth century realisms as an instrument of reflecting the current state of architecture: after the excesses of the postmodern populism, the disillusionment of the "Architettura Razionale" and the dialectics of reconstruction-deconstruction, a new spectre of "Realism" as a way to react to the current architectural and urban condition seems to emerge in architecture again.

This article examines the ways in which 1970s French feminists who participated in the Women’s Liberation Movement (Mouvement de libération des femmes – MLF) wielded the spectre of lesbianism as an American idiosyncrasy to counteract the politicisation of lesbianism in France. It argues that the erasure of lesbian difference from the domain of French feminism was a necessary condition for making ‘woman’ an amenable subject for incorporation into the abstract unity of the French nation, wherein heterosexuality is conceived as a democratic crucible where men and women harmoniously come together and differences are deemed divisive. Looking at the history of feminism from the standpoint of a lesbian perspective reveals unforeseen continuities between French ‘feminist’ and ‘anti-feminist’ genealogies insofar as they rest on common heterosexual and racial foundations. Finally, the article demonstrates that the alleged un-Frenchness ascribed to the word ‘lesbian’ in the 1970s feminist movement spectrally returned in the 1990s when the word ‘gender’ was, in its turn, deemed radically foreign to the French culture by feminist researchers. Fiercely reactionary constituencies against the legalisation of same-sex marriage have more recently taken up this rhetorical weapon against sexual and racial minorities.

Abstract Purpose The condition of pituitary apoplexia contains the clinical spectre from life-threatening emergency to asymptomatic self-limiting course, which partly determines diagnostic delay and management. Outcome evaluation of course and management of pituitary apoplexia is hampered by the diverse presentation of this condition and requires appraisal. This study aimed to describe the patient journey, clinical presentation, and management of various types of pituitary apoplexy in a new classification to facilitate future outcome evaluation and identify unmet needs in the care process. Methods A single-center retrospective patient chart study was conducted between 2005–2021 (N = 98). Outcome measures were clinical symptoms at first presentation in hospital, being headache, consciousness, visual acuity, visual field defects (VFD), ophthalmoplegia, nausea, vomiting, fever, and hypopituitarism and care process characteristics. Results Mean age was 47.6 ± 16.6 years (51.0% male). We describe their patient journey and identified three different types, differing in clinical presentation, in-hospital route, and final treatment, e.g., Acute (type A, 52%), Subacute (type B, 22.5%), and Non-acute (type C, 25.5%). Type A generally presents with acute onset headaches, VFD, or ophthalmoplegia emergency setting, with lowest mean visual acuity of both eyes and frequent hypocortisolism. Conclusions Pituitary apoplexy can be approached as a spectrum of disease with 3 main subtypes, with a different initial presentation, different in-hospital route resulting in different management. Acknowledging subtypes with particular needs for (emergency) referrals to Pituitary Tumors Center of Excellence (PTCOE) will serve patient care improvements, outcome evaluations and address areas for improvement.

This paper examines the urban space as an ecology of anxiety in post-9/11 literature. After the atomic bomb drop on Hiroshima in August 1945, survivors testified of experiencing prior to the bombing an anticipatory trauma known as bukimirooted in the belief that a catastrophic event was forthcoming. Paul K. Saint-Amour suggests that similar experiences to bukimi are not exclusive to the residents of Hiroshima but came to structure post-war urban experience as a result of a nuclear condition wrought by the Cold War. My paper explores whether a contemporary bukimi can be identified in post-9/11 literature. The post-9/11 novel—works which directly or indirectly acknowledge the terrorist attacks—present familiar but ambiguous forms of risk engendered by the threat of terrorism and maintained in the form of an urban-originated anxiety. This anxiety is rooted in the spectre of an event that’s never total or conclusive—an event that promises witness testimony and the maintenance of traumatic memories, but which also eclipses calamitous structures (like global warming) that are gradual and continuous. To unravel this contemporary species of bukimi, my paper examines depictions of the urban space in the post-9/11 literature of Foer and McEwan.

L’entraînement métacognitif (EMC) a pour but de rendre les patients conscients de ces biais et de les prendre en compte dans leurs relations interpersonnelles[1].MéthodeCinquante-deux participants remplissant les critères diagnostics pour une schizophrénie ou un trouble schizo-affectif et des idées délirantes ne répondant que partiellement au traitement neuroleptique ont été recrutés pour l’étude. La réponse partielle était opérationnalisée comme la présence d’une idée délirante > 2 sur l’item P1 de la PANSS durant les trois derniers mois sans augmentation du traitement neuroleptique. Après l’évaluation initiale, les participants ont été répartis aléatoirement soit dans la condition traitement habituel (TH) ou la condition TH + EMC. L’intervention a consisté en huit séances d’EMC d’une heure par semaine. les participants ont ensuite été évalués huit semaines plus tard et six mois après l’intervention par des juges indépendants. les participants ont été évalués avec la Psychotic Symptoms Rating Scales (PSYRATS) [2], l’échelle positive de la PANSS et les items de la conscience du trouble de la SUMD [3].Résultatsles différences de scores intergroupes entre le pré-test et le post-test ainsi qu’entre le pré-test et l’évaluation à six mois de catamnèse étaient significatives avec des tailles d’effet modérées pour l’échelle d’idées délirante de la PSYRATS et l’échelle positive de la PANSS.Discussionles résultats de cette étude indiquent que l’EMC présente un effet antipsychotique supplémentaire pour les patients avec un trouble du spectre de la schizophrénie qui démontrent une réponse partielle au traitement neuroleptique. Cet effet persiste six mois après l’intervention.

Good governance is an essential practice which brings sustainable good living standards and remains a pipedream to various countries. As such, the quest for service delivery has prompted the need for leaders at different levels, from the apex national government level to the lowest local government level, to exercise good governance. In the year 2021, over 5 464 complaints of poor service delivery were recorded in South Africa and of 257 South African municipalities, only 16 were in stable condition. However, there are limited previous studies on the relationship between good governance and service delivery. In pursuit of economic development, the purpose of this paper is to investigate good governance and show its spectre of relevance to service delivery with a view to providing lessons to South Africa. The paper dovetails with good governance and service delivery exercised in various developed countries. The study utilised a literature research approach in which the researcher gathered textbooks, seminar and workshop papers, journal articles, and both local and international newspapers and websites. The paper gives the key findings of this study which are useful to the South African Government. The Government of South Africa should develop useful initiatives to support the improvement of service quality along with the existing tools and systems that promote smooth and effective public service delivery.

Equally momentous was the emergence of the man who would serve as the spiritual figurehead of the civil rights movement: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.In the wake of the Montgomery bus boycott, one national black newspaper acclaimed King as “Alabama's Modern Moses.” Since the darkest days of slavery African-Americans had sought spiritual salvation by comparing their own condition to that of God's Chosen People, the Israelites of the Old Testament. Throughout their years of enslavement they prayed for the Moses who would deliver them from their suffering unto the Promised Land. During the boycott, the black citizens of Montgomery had similarly sustained their morale by singing the old slave spirituals, raising their voices at the nightly mass meetings in rousing renditions of “Go Down Moses, Way Down in Egypt Land.” “As sure as Moses got the children of Israel across the Red Sea,” King exhorted the black community, “we can stick together and win.” Others too drew the analogy between the historical experience of Jews and the contemporary predicament of African-Americans. Looking back on the boycott, white liberal activist Virginia Durr evoked the spectre of Nazi Germany in describing the strength of racist opposition.

The last few years have seen the emergence of a more political, ‘post-Derridean’ generation, critical of the impotent messianism of the politics of deconstruction. As Žižek would have it: ‘Derrida's notion of ‘deconstruction as ethics’ seems to rely on a utopian hope which sustains the spectre of ‘infinite justice’, forever postponed, always to come’ (Žižek 2008: 225). The promise of redemption, it follows, would reside in an insubstantial promissory value, in the writing of irredeemable cheques that, if cashed in, could only ever lead to default. With its ethos of play and over-investment in an empty promise, deconstruction starts to look symptomatic of the now-bankrupt age of excess. Does the current financial crisis not entail a crisis of Derrida? This reading contrives to elide what is genuinely political in Derrida, and thereby fails to recognise the deconstruction of economic theodicy implicit in his work. Jean-Luc Nancy has argued that the concept of sacrifice is irreducibly linked to the short-circuiting of the political. We see in Derrida, however, that sacrifice is at the heart of politics, a response to undecidability that is precisely opposed to the fantasy of economics without sacrifice. Furthermore, sacrificial politics is the condition of possibility of the promise, which is constructed and contingent, rather than a priori. If there is a problem with this, it is that Derrida does not sufficiently entertain the prospect of the promise becoming so distant as to be effectively meaningless. Drawing on Bernard Stiegler, this article argues for an expansion of Derrida's account, to show not only that politics is sacrifice, but moreover that the promise of redemption cannot live on in the absence of sacrifice.

Socrates, in Phaedo, posits that the route to Hades is far from ‘straightforward’, and that it is riddled with ‘crossroads’ that demand the presence of a vigilant guide. The possibility of multiple routes culminating in the underworld, and the necessity of guidance, form the bedrock of the interwoven analysis of the Inferno, Paradise Lost, Frankenstein, and Heart of Darkness. Amidst the profusion of pathways, the Inferno and Paradise Lost gesture towards a direction that is replicated and repudiated in Mary Shelley and Joseph Conrad's versions of the descent voyage in Frankenstein and Heart of Darkness. Dante and Milton's ‘prototype’ narratives exemplify the descent – or the fall – into hell, and shape the two novels through ‘literary guidance’. Heart of Darkness emerges as an inversion of the meticulously structured Dantean universe. The Pilgrim's progress in the Inferno is a consistent counterpoint to Conradian chaos and Marlow's wilful yet meandering descent into colonial Africa. Dante's Pilgrim emerges from the underworld to progress onwards, while Marlow remains entrenched in the inescapably infernal condition of twentieth-century imperialism. The Inferno is an unacknowledged spectre that haunts the proceedings of the novella, but Milton's poetic re-telling of Genesis is a recognised presence in Frankenstein. Paradise Lost is re-viewed through the perspective of the hapless Monster, who oscillates between identifying with Satan and Adam. Both poets thus dabble in the attainment (or the elusiveness) of salvation, while the novelists struggle to salvage a semblance of significance with which they can imbue their characters' journeys. While 2016 saw several literary anniversaries, a strand that the organisers envisioned intertwining with ‘salvaging’, the year 2015 marked the 750th birth anniversary of Dante, sparking speculation about the present-day pertinence of the afterlife. This interplay between the theme of Salvage and these four narratives ought to provide unexpected insights that complement BCLA's emphasis on renewing critical perspectives.

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorder characterized by relative or absolute lack of insulin. When this condition is not properly managed, it can lead to complications that make diabetic patients vulnerable to urinary tract infections (UTI). The objectives of this study are to determine the prevalence of microbiologically confirmed UTI and the spectrum of uropathogens in diabetic and non-diabetic patients with clinical features of UTI attending the two tertiary hospitals in Enugu State, Nigeria.
Methodology: Clean catch specimen of single mid-stream urine sample was collected from each of 60 (22 males, 38 females) diabetic and 60 (22 males, 38 females) non-diabetic patients enrolled using stratified random sampling method. The samples were cultured on standard microbiological culture media (MacConkey and Blood agar plates) and incubated aerobically at 37◦C for 24 hours. Plates with significant bacteria growth (>105 CFU/ml) were processed further for bacterial identification using conventional biochemical test scheme. Antibiotic susceptibility test (AST) of each isolate to 17 selected antibiotics was performed by the modified disc diffusion method.
Results: Of the total 120 patients enrolled, 101 had bacterial pathogens isolated from their voided urine samples; 51 of 60 (85.0%) diabetics and 50 of 60 (83.3%) non-diabetics (p=0.802). Bacteria were isolated in 59.1% (13/22) of diabetic and 54.5% (12/22) of non-diabetic male patients compared to 100% (38/38) isolation rate in diabetic and non-diabetic female patients. The most frequently isolated bacteria in the diabetic patients were Proteus spp (18.6%), Klebsiella spp (16.9%) and Escherichia coli (15.5%) while the most frequently isolated bacteria among the non-diabetic patients were E. coli (30.0%), Proteus spp (26.3%) and Enterobacter spp (14.0%). Apart from Klebsiella spp which was more frequently isolated from the diabetic (16.9%) than non-diabetic patients (6%) (p=0.039), the frequency other bacterial pathogen isolation such as Proteus spp, E. coli, Enterobacter spp, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus spp was not significantly different between the two population groups (p>0.05). The Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria were highly sensitive to imipenem in both diabetic and non-diabetic patients, but the isolates from both study groups exhibited low susceptibility to amoxicillin, nitrofuran- toin, cefixime and cefuroxime.
Conclusion: Although the overall frequency of bacterial pathogen isolation in the diabetic and non-diabetic patients was not significantly different, females had a higher pathogen isolation rate than the males, and diabetic females had a higher frequency of polymicrobial infections compared to non-diabetic females and the male population. The high antimicrobial resistance of the isolated bacteria pathogens underscores the need for clinical microbiology laboratory testings to optimize the management of UTI in diabetic patients.
French title: Prévalence des infections urinaires symptomatiques et spectre bactérien des patients diabétiques et non diabétiques dans les deux hôpitaux universitaires d'Enugu, au Nigeria
Contexte: Le diabète sucré est un groupe de troubles métaboliques caractérisés par un manque relatif ou absolu d'insuline. Lorsque cette condition n'est pas correctement gérée, elle peut entraîner des complications qui rendent les patients diabétiques vulnérables aux infections des voies urinaires (UTI). Les objectifs de cette étude sont de déterminer la prévalence des infections urinaires confirmées microbiologiquement et le spectre des uropathogènes chez les patients diabétiques et non diabétiques présentant des caractéristiques cliniques des infections urinaires fréquentant les deux hôpitaux tertiaires de l'État d'Enugu, au Nigeria.
Méthodologie: Un échantillon de capture propre d'un seul échantillon d'urine à mi-jet a été prélevé sur chacun des 60 (22 hommes, 38 femmes) patients diabétiques et 60 (22 hommes, 38 femmes) patients non diabétiques inscrits à l'aide d'une méthode d'échantillonnage aléatoire stratifié. Les échantillons ont été cultivés sur des milieux de culture microbiologiques standard (plaques de gélose MacConkey et Blood) et incubés en aérobie à 37°C pendant 24 heures. Les plaques avec une croissance bactérienne significative (>105 CFU/ml) ont été traitées davantage pour l'identification bactérienne en utilisant un schéma de test biochimique conventionnel. Abstract We present a microlocal analysis of two novel Radon transforms of interest in Compton Scattering Tomography (CST), which map compactly supported L 2 functions to their integrals over seven-dimensional sets of apple and lemon surfaces. Specifically, we show that the apple and lemon transforms are elliptic Fourier Integral Operators (FIO), which satisfy the Bolker condition. After an analysis of the full seven-dimensional case, we focus our attention on n-D subsets of apple and lemon surfaces with fixed central axis, where n<7. Such subsets of surface integrals have applications in airport baggage and security screening. When the data dimensionality is restricted, the apple transform is shown to violate the Bolker condition, and there are artifacts which occur on apple-cylinder intersections. The lemon transform is shown to satisfy the Bolker condition, when the support of the function is restricted to the strip {0<z<1}.

We point out the existence of a technical problem in the literature concerning well-definedness of the global Hadamard parametrix in normal neighbourhoods of Cauchy surfaces. We discuss in particular the definition of the (signed) geodesic distance $$\sigma $$ σ and related structures in an open neighbourhood of the diagonal of $$M\times M$$ M × M larger than $$U\times U$$ U × U , for a normal convex neighbourhood U, where (M, g) is a Riemannian or Lorentzian (smooth Hausdorff paracompact) manifold. We eventually propose a quite natural solution which slightly changes the original definition by Kay and Wald and relies upon some non-trivial consequences of the paracompactness property. The proposed re-formulation is in agreement with Radzikowski’s microlocal version of the Hadamard condition.

In particular, if the spacetime is real analytic, we show that an analogue of the timelike tube theorem and the Reeh–Schlieder property hold with respect to states satisfying a weak form of microlocal analyticity condition. The former means the von Neumann algebra of observables of a spacelike tube equals the von Neumann algebra of observables of a significantly bigger region that is obtained by deforming the boundary of the tube in a timelike manner. This generalizes theorems by Araki (Helv Phys Acta 36:132–139, 1963) and Borchers (Nuovo Cim (10) 19:787–793, 1961) to curved spacetimes.

La maladie liée à l’IgG4 est une condition lymphoproliférative des plasmocytes, associée à des niveaux élevés d’IgG4 et à une infiltration de cellules IgG4 positives dans les structures touchées. En raison de son large spectre de manifestations, le diagnostic reste difficile. Cette étude vise à souligner les principales manifestations cliniques qui font partie de son spectre. Il s’agit d’une revue de littérature intégrative, descriptive et qualitative, réalisée dans les bases de données Embase, PubMed, SCIELO et Web of Science. Trente-huit articles ont été inclus dans cette revue. On observe que la maladie liée à l’IgG4 présente une présentation clinique variable, avec des rapports dans la littérature de manifestations dans tous les organes et systèmes du corps. Les organes les plus touchés sont le pancréas, les orbites oculaires, les glandes salivaires et lacrymales. Cette variété de manifestations entraîne des répercussions cliniques différentes, pouvant entraîner des tableaux compliqués en raison de la possibilité d’affectation d’organes nobles.

AbstractFefferman (Acta Math 24:9–36, 1970, Theorem 2$$'$$ ′ ) has proved the weak (1,1) boundedness for a class of oscillating singular integrals that includes the oscillating spectral multipliers of the Euclidean Laplacian $$\Delta ,$$ Δ , namely, operators of the form $$\begin{aligned} T_{\theta }(-\Delta ):= (1-\Delta )^{-\frac{n\theta }{4}}e^{i (1-\Delta )^{\frac{\theta }{2}}},\,0\le \theta <1. \end{aligned}$$ T θ ( - Δ ) : = ( 1 - Δ ) - n θ 4 e i ( 1 - Δ ) θ 2 , 0 ≤ θ < 1 . The aim of this work is to extend Fefferman’s result to oscillating singular integrals on any arbitrary compact Lie group. We also consider applications to oscillating spectral multipliers of the Laplace–Beltrami operator. The proof of our main theorem illustrates the delicate relationship between the condition on the kernel of the operator, its Fourier transform (defined in terms of the representation theory of the group) and the microlocal/geometric properties of the group.

Here we review a part of the joint work with Jean-François Bony, Thierry Ramond and Maher Zerzeri [Astérisque 405 (2018), pp. vii+314] on the semiclassical distribution of resonances for Schrödinger operators in a complex neighborhood of a fixed energy, assuming that the trapped set of the underlying classical dynamics on the energy surface consists of hyperbolic fixed points and associated homoclinic and heteroclinic trajectories. Based on a microlocal theory of solutions near a hyperbolic fixed point established by Bony, Fujiié, Ramond, and Zerzeri [J. Funct. Anal. 252 (2007), pp. 68–125], we compute the quantization condition of resonances and prove its accuracy. We will see in particular that the principal term of the imaginary part of resonances is − D 0 h -D_0 h , where D 0 D_0 is the minimum over all ‘cycles’ in the trapped set of what we call damping index defined in terms of the exponents at the hyperbolic fixed points therein. We will also see the subprincipal term of order h / | log h | h/|\log h| . In this scale, resonances present various interesting distributions reflecting the geometry of the classical dynamics.

Objective: To discuss the diagnostic difficulties of renal abscess in the pediatric age and warn pediatrics about the possible complications of urinary tract infections. Case description: A 16-year-old boy with autism spectre disorder and Duchenne muscular dystrophy presented at the emergency care unit with persistent fever despite the use of antibiotics to treat an urinary tract infection. Although there was leukocyturia, the urine culture was negative. Ultrassound of the urinary tract showed no significant findings. Computed tomography showed multiple renal abscesses in the right kidney. A puncture guided by ultrasound was performed. The culture of the liquid resulted in growth of ESBL Klebsiella pneumoniae. A 21 day course of intravenous antibiotic after the procedure resulted in complete resolution of signs and symptoms. Comments: Renal abscess is a rare condition in the pediatric population. However, it must be considered in the differential diagnosis of prolonged fever and when there is a nonfavorable evolution of urinary tract infection, mainly in recurrent episodes. The early diagnosis of this condition is essential for the adequate treatment and reduction of complications.

<p style='text-indent:20px;'>Boundary feedback stabilization of a <i>critical</i> third–order (in time) semilinear Jordan–Moore–Gibson–Thompson (JMGT) is considered. The word <i>critical</i> here refers to the usual case where media–damping effects are non–existent or non–measurable and therefore cannot be relied upon for stabilization purposes. Motivated by modeling aspects in high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology, the boundary feedback under consideration is supported only on a portion of the boundary. At the same time, the remaining part is undissipated and subject to Neumann/Robin boundary conditions. As such, unlike Dirichlet, it fails to satisfy the Lopatinski condition, a fact which compromises tangential regularity on the boundary [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="b37">37</xref>]. In such a configuration, the analysis of uniform stabilization from the boundary becomes subtle and requires careful geometric considerations and microlocal analysis estimates. The nonlinear effects in the model demand construction of suitably small solutions which are invariant under the dynamics. The assumed smallness of the initial data is required only at the lowest energy level topology, which is sufficient to construct sufficiently smooth solutions to the nonlinear model.</p>

This paper proposes a novel method to control leakage and noise in domino circuits for wide fan-in OR logic with low power consumption, low process variation, and higher noise margin under the similar delay condition. In the proposed method, output and dynamic nodes are isolated from the PDN (Pull-Down Network) to improve the noise immunity and reduce switching activity. Further, with the aid of a transistor in the stack, the sub-threshold current is reduced. Thus, the proposed domino is applicable for high-speed and low-power applications in deep sub-micro-range. Simulation results show that the proposed domino improves the noise immunity and figure of merit (FOM) by factors of 1.95 and 2.34, respectively, with respect to the conventional domino with a footer. Along with this improvement, 26% reduction is also observed in power consumption. The entire simulations for all the domino circuits are done at 45-nm CMOS technology by using SPECTRE simulator under the Cadence Virtuoso environment.

Due to the high demand of ultra-low power in digital application, the needs of energy efficient analog-to-digital converter (ADC) are really essential. The comparator being an important part of successive approximation register (SAR)-ADC needs to have optimum performance under low power condition. This paper presents the comparison on power consumption together with the output performance flow power SAR-ADC dynamic comparators from three different design proposed by previous researchers. The three circuits is simulated and compared in terms of power consumption, regeneration time, reset time and output transient. The simulation is using Cadence Spectre and setup with 0.18µm CMOS technology, VDD at 0.8V and clock speed 2 at MHz. The analysis results obtained provides the lowest voltage input different (ΔVin) possible for double tail dynamic comparator using 0.18µm CMOS technology while adhering to the 45 corner process requirement. The results can be used as references for further design of ultra-low power dynamic comparator.

Scapholunate Advanced Collapse (SLAC) is a progressive condition that can cause wrist pain and functional impairment. This condition often results from injury to the scapholunate ligament, which connects two important bones in the wrist. While SLAC can affect anyone, it is particularly relevant to dentists and maxillofacial surgeons due to the repetitive hand and wrist motions associated with these professions. In addition, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), a common neurological disorder that occurs when the median nerve becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist, is another occupational hazard that can impact dental and surgical professionals. Given the considerable prevalence and sensing that awareness among dental students and surgeons is subpar, alongside the lack of studies investigating such issues, this personal experience-based editorial briefly explores the etiology, classification, diagnosis, and available treatment options for SLAC and CTS, principally, with the dental and maxillofacial professional on mind, to communicate significance and emphasize the importance of implementing proper ergonomics, frequent short stretch breaks and regular strengthening exercise into our daily clinical and surgical work habits; a step towards a real paradigm shift to prevent chronic pain. It can also serve as a valuable and distinct resource for healthcare professionals dealing with SLAC and CTS, accompanying challenges and emphasizing the importance of early detection and adaptation in patient care and surgical techniques. In the demanding fields of dentistry and maxillo-facial surgery, where precision and dexterity are paramount, we perform intricate procedures that require the use of our hands and wrists for long periods of time. Alas, the repetitive motions and awkward postures associated with these procedures can lead to a painful and debilitating condition known as CTS. In addition, recent studies have suggested that SLAC, a degenerative condition of the wrist joint, may increase the risk of developing CTS (more severe form), an ongoing spectre experienced by the author himself.
