Повний текст джерелаBatch processes are of increasing industrial importance due to their ability to synthesize low-volume, high-value-added chemicals and to their flexibility in a market-driven environment. At the design stage, the plant capacity must be set considering both present and anticipated future product demands which are usually variable. This work proposes an alternative treatment of the uncertainty (demands) by using the arithmetic operations on fuzzy numbers. The general objective of this work is to propose a methodology for solving the design problem of industrial-size plants. In this study, we have introduced a fuzzy-GAs approach to solve the problem of multi-objective optimal design of a multiproduct batch chemical plant. The analysis showed to be helpful for decision making

Повний текст джерелаThe world’s population is facing an expansive urbanization. This urban sprawl, which is often not well managed, is endangering the environment as well as human health, quality of life and food security. It can be controlled by favouring urban densification. Nonetheless, the complexity of the phenomena involved in such a context leads us to think that supervisors of urban densification operations need some tools to help them make the most relevant choices. This thesis begins with a literature review that shows the ideal tool does not exist, and explains why multi-objective optimization using a genetic algorithm is a suitable technique for building design aid. Then we clarify the desirable features of an assistance method for urban densification projects designers. We recommend to base this method on the coupling of a genetic algorithm with a district-scale dynamic thermal simulation (DTS) tool. We compare capabilities of EnergyPlus (E+) and Pleiades+COMFIE (P+C) DTS software with these requirements, then we present a first urban densification project optimization test associating EnergyPlus with a genetic algorithm. The platform under development in the ANR MERUBBI project can offset certain shortcomings of this method. Hence, in a second phase we analyze the results of a comparative study of P+C, E+ and the MERUBBI tool, carried out using a high-density district densification project as a test case. It shows that the latter is reliable and particularly relevant to precisely assess interactions between buildings. In a third phase we address the problematic of reducing the computing time, a major issue to make our design aid method truly accessible to building professionals. We propose a way of reducing the operating period length and present it in detail. Finally, our optimization method is used to solve various design problems of the above-mentioned project, using E+. We show how the use of the MERUBBI platform will enrich this approach before concluding with development ideas to make our method more user-friendly and interactive

Повний текст джерелаIn a highly competitive and unstable environment, manufacturers must constantly improve their products to remain competitive and satisfy their customers while minimizing incurred costs and risk taking at the design stage. At the early stages of (re-)engineering, performances forecasting of new product is complicated. Indeed, the impacts of any characteristic change on the product performance are not precisely known. Decision makers must thus identify the performances to be improved while limiting the engineering efforts spent on innovative upgrades. Although some theoretical worth indexes have been proposed in the multiple criteria decision-making literature to estimate the expectable gains when improving changes are planned, they generally rely on non-realistic assumptions on the achievability of the expected improvements that cannot hold in manufacturing contexts. Based on multi-criteria decision analysis techniques and uncertainty theory, this thesis proposes an extension of the worth index concept when the likelihood of the expected improvements is not precisely known as it is the case at the preliminary stages of design activities. This poor knowledge of the relationships between improvement actions and expected performances makes the issue “how to set ambitious targets when improving or designing product while these targets remain within the reach of the manufacturer” all the thornier. Thus, improvements to be focused on are those which both have a significant positive impact on product performance and correspond to operational changes properly under control by the manufacturer. While some approaches in the literature have already addressed each of the two aspects of the improvement problem, few deal with both of them at the same time. We investigate several qualitative and possibilistic approaches that conciliate both points of view as multi attributes optimization problems. The notion of interaction between any two objectives to be simultaneously satisfied is central in our framework. An illustrative example related to the design phase of autonomous robot is provided. Повний текст джерелаThis study aims at the development of a design methodology for eco-efficient processes, meaning that ecological and economic considerations are taken into account simultaneously at the preliminary design phase of chemical processes. The environmental aspect is quantified by using of a set of indicators following the guidelines of sustainability concepts. The design framework is based on a modelling approach considering both process and utility production units, since the environmental impact of a chemical process not only contains the material involved in the process but also the energy consumption, the effect of flow recycle, material conversion and so on... For this purpose, a decision support tool dedicated to the management of plant utilities (steam, electricity, water...) and pollutants (CO2, SO2, NOx, etc..), (ARIANETM package) was coupled to process modelling and used here both to compute the primary energy requirements of the process and to quantify its pollutant emissions. Both models were thus integrated in an outer multiobjective optimization loop, based on a variant of the so-called NSGA-II (Non Sorted Genetic Algorithm) multiobjective genetic algorithm. The trade-off between economic and environmental objectives is illustrated through the generation of Pareto fronts. The selection of the best design alternatives is performed through the use of multicriteria analysis. The well-known benchmark process for hydrodealkylation (HDA) of toluene to produce benzene, revisited here in a multi-objective mode, is used to illustrate the usefulness of the approach in finding environmentally friendly and cost-effective designs

Повний текст джерелаIn the last few years, extreme competition between car manufacturers led to higher quality and safety standards, and reduction of costs and delays in product development. Together with technical and regulation evolutions, this caused the design of vehicle subsystems to become more and more constraint. In such a context, designers who want to meet customer requirements have to take the robustness of their products into account, even at early stages of the design process. Indeed, due to the variability of the product itself (in terms of geometrical or mechanical properties, of assembly or ageing of components), or its operating conditions, the stability of the announced performance levels has to be specified and guaranteed, in presence of uncertainty. In addition to high numbers of design variables, constraints and objectives, this ‘robust design’ requires a numerical simulation of this uncertainty. Therefore, a reliable, hierarchized and computationally efficient methodology that fully complies with the V-diagram of Systems Engineering is needed. The First Design methodology is one possible approach. It was successfully used in previous works. The aim of the present thesis is to extend some of its features, and apply it to the robust optimization of the ‘level 5’ functional architecture of automotive suspension systems: front and rear axle design parameters and primary variables of the tires. For this purpose, models and associated tools for optimization and computer-aided decision have to be developed in order to define a global and reliable procedure for the specification of these systems, with a fully integrated and quantified notion of the robustness. The proposed technique, partly relying on physical simplified models and sensitivity estimators directly integrated in the used optimization algorithms, improved the robustness of the solutions significantly, and emphasized the performance gains achieved by taking the presence of semi-active components into account, at early phases of the project

Повний текст джерелаA distributed production activity control system has been developed to solve several problems inherent in the inflexibility of classic centralized production activity control systems. The distributed approach implies local decision makings and real time control for task allocations. This forbids correct forecast on critical information such as time cycle for each manufacturing order, meaning a miss of viability for industrial application. The aim of our work is to provide a structure which takes advantage of both extrema and which is able to support just-in-time concepts: the hybrid production activity control structure. The hybrid approach uses the notion of bottleneck and non bottleneck resources and is based on the distributed control structure developed in the laboratory. The bottleneck is the only resource scheduled. It forces the synchronicity of the whole production structure because of its characteristics. This paper evaluates the relative performances of the three control structures (centralized, distributed and hybrid) through theoretical discussions and practical examples from a simplified industrial case study

Повний текст джерелаThe concept of More Electric Aircraft (MEA) implies new challenges especially due to the increase of the electrical embedded power. By this way, necessary improvements in terms of safety, energy efficiency and weight reduction are required. For this reason, the design of devices should be more approached with a view to the whole system than as separated elements. In order to facilitate power system integration and to ensure power quality aboard, this dissertation proposes an Integrated Optimal Design (IOD) of the input filter and the inverter feeding the High Speed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (HSPMSM) by taking the flight mission into account. The Environmental Conditioning System (ECS) is equipped of the studied cabin air compressor with a rated power of 70 kW: a Multiobjective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) is applied to achieve the CIO process. Considering the ECS as a whole, this thesis can be divided into three main parts: components sizing of the electromechanical conversion chain; local and sequential design of each system components (HSPMSM optimization loop followed by “voltage source inverter + input filter” optimization loop); simultaneous design of all system components (global optimization loop). Pareto-optimal solutions obtained from sequential and simultaneous design approaches are presented, analyzed and compared. Results clearly highlight the advantage of using a single optimization loop for the whole system in order to improve mass and efficiency

Повний текст джерелаThe work presented in this thesis, coming from the problem of ARIES Packaging, concerns the optimization of packaging lines. The objective is to develop decision aid tools for the performances evaluations and the optimization of the lines. Specific studies of simulation are presented first. Taking in consideration the constraints and the objectives of the firm, we propose solving a design problem which assigns one machine to each workstation and sizes the intermediate buffers. This problem is studied under two approaches: single and multicriteria. In the single criterion approach, two configurations are studied: the minimization of the costs while having a desired throughput rate and the maximization of the throughput rate with a fixed budget. We propose to solve this problem by developing ant colony optimization algorithms. In order to enhance the results, these algorithms are combined with a guided local search (GLS). In the multicriteria approach, two problems are also discussed: the one of buffers sizing with the maximization of the number of the output products and the minimization of the total buffer capacities simultaneously, and that of lines design with the machines selection and the buffers sizing. We propose the second version of the Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm (SPEA2) and multiobjective ant colony optimization algorithms coupled with a guided local search

A first step in the design process involves the correct definition of the problem which consists in defining the functions to be satisfied and the underlying constraints. This yields to a functional design specification report. The choices to be made are obtained in an iterative way and with successive approximations by exploring the physical domain in order to identify the solutions. The design process is an multidisciplinary activity in which the intuitive decisions made by the designer play an important role. This thesis work presents the possible modellings and the decision making strategies based on the design theories, methodologies and available tools. We have finally elaborated a decision making system for conceptual design. The system is based on the axiomatic approach, logic reasoning and multi-criteria approach. The framework gives a way to model the iterative process in order to give an aid during the design project. The possible solutions are evaluated according to each criterion depending on the designer's judgement and on the context. ]

Повний текст джерелаIn response to current environmental challenges, social innovations have become essential for accelerating the transition to green energy and reshaping energy practices to make them more sustainable. The success of these innovations relies on making multiple decisions and evaluating numerous often competing criteria and objectives. The objective of this thesis, within the framework of the European SocialRes project, is to provide decision-making support for the design of social innovations in this specific sector. To achieve this, a qualitative study was conducted, based on five interviews, to identify the key design factors of social innovations in this sector. The results of this study identified four types of key factors: economic, social, environmental, and participatory. A decision support model incorporating these four types of factors and based on Design Space Exploration was developed. The proposed model first enables decision-makers to construct and visualize the design space by considering the key factors of social innovation in the energy domain. Then, by navigating through this space, it systematically explores different design alternatives to identify the most promising solutions. Finally, it evaluates the selected solution using a set of indicators defined to characterize social innovation in the energy sector: citizen acceptance, project location, economic benefit sharing, and CO2 reduction rate. The proposed model is characterized by a particular consideration of citizen involvement in the decision-making process from the preliminary design phases, assessing their acceptance using Fuzzy logic. The developed model was validated through its application to two cases of social innovations in the energy sector: a photovoltaic self-consumption system and an electric vehicle sharing system. The contributions presented in this thesis assist social innovation designers in the energy sector in making more informed design decisions that are better suited to the needs of users

Повний текст джерелаOur works deal with the implementation of methodologies for production resolution and optimization taking into consideration economic imperatives, which are important parts in industrial manufacturing control. For the flexible job-shop problem, five criteria are considered : Makespan, the workload of the critical machine, the total workload of machines, the penalties of earliness/tardiness and the production cost. In this direction, the decision and evaluation problems are introduced and studied, and three integrated approaches, based on genetic algorithms, improving evolutionary approaches which exist in the literature, are presented : static method based on Choquet's integral, approached method based on the Pareto-optimality concept as well as the method based on the concept of ε-dominance Pareto-optimality. The proposed approaches are used to generate a variety of optimal solutions needed to help the decision-maker, when he can not give a particular preference to one of the objective functions. Proposed results, obtained globally for the overall of criteria, are successfully compared with those obtained by other existing approaches on several benchmarks presenting different complexities

Повний текст джерелаThe work presented in this thesis aims to propose methods for routing a mass population through a disturbed network whose data vary over time. This problem can be illustrated by disasters due to humans or natural events where people (potentially) affected have to leave their living places for a period of one to several days. In the literature, mass routing are often modeled as dynamic flow problems whose objective is to minimize the overall duration of the evacuation process from a set of gathering points towards another set of shelter locations. However few papers take into account the concept of safety during this routing nor deploying task forces that can secure or facilitate this process. In this context, the safety security can be seen as a danger affecting the quality of life of people we organize the trip. In this context, the safety can be seen as a danger that influence the health of the people we are trying to evacuate. Indeed, this hazardous event can be related to a radioactive cloud, a fire, a tsunami, an earthquake or a flooding which make some of paths becoming dangerous or less usable by evacuees

Повний текст джерелаEverywhere, populations need energy to satisfy their needs and support their development. This work focuses on access to electrical energy in isolated areas that are too far from the main electricity grid to be connected to it. Among them, we select areas near a sea or river where hydrokinetic energy can be harnessed and transformed into electricity by a hydrokinetic turbine. The technological solutions available on the market only partially meet the specific needs of communities in these isolated areas. The objective of the thesis is twofold: to propose a multi-criteria design approach in order to imagine an energy production solution compatible with the challenges of sustainable development, and then to apply this approach to design a hydrokinetic turbine solution for isolated micro-grids that is sustainable and resilient. The design approach is based on the consideration of qualitative and quantitative criteria related to technical, economic, environmental and social sustainability from the upstream phases of the project. The proposed tool helps the designer to dialogue with the various stakeholders in order to target an electricity production solution that allows for human, economic, technical and community development that is both anchored in the territory and respectful of the environment. The application of the approach and the tool on the hydrokinetic turbine for isolated micro-grids leads to a sketch of the system and its components. We have been inspired by the low-tech philosophy that advocates simple, sustainable, resilient and accessible technologies. We sketched the characteristics of the turbine's electrical generator and then proposed a multi-physical analytical model and economic, environmental and cost analysis for an optimized pre-sizing. The machine is a squirrel-cage induction machine with a waterproof winding for open water cooling, a condenser bank for autonomous operation and an extended speed range. We have also studied the effects of the tooth-coiled winding on the asynchronous generator. Finally, we selected the Amazonian villages of French Guiana as a case study and in particular the CNRS research station of Nouragues. We apply the design approach and pre-size the generator with the available data with the objectives of maximizing the energy efficiency or minimizing the mass of the machine and the economic and environmental costs

Повний текст джерелаThe integration of the research of energy efficiency into urban development projects is essential in the current context of energy and environmental transition. In order to reduce the energy footprint of a district already starting from the design phase, a set of contributions was elaborated to support the planners in this process. The DIMOSIM simulation platform (DIstrict MOdeller and SIMulator) has been developed to dynamically model and simulate the energy flows of a district located within its urban environment. The design of the district is optimized using a multi-objective procedure combining energy, economic and environmental aspects to ensure the best overall performance. A cross-cutting, multi-level approach integrating the NSGA-II genetic algorithm was implemented in order to adapt the procedure to the specificities of the problem. The selection of the preferred solution is then facilitated by the use of a multicriteria analysis method which was developed to provide a detailed evaluation of the different concepts : the outranking method ATLAS (Assistance TooL for decision support to assessment And Sort). Finally, the complete procedure dedicated to the district energy system design was applied to eco-district projects in order to validate its correct operation and also to provide the necessary support to decision-makers

This kind of system is very common in industry because the wound roll packaging simplify the treatment of material such as paper, cardboard, polymers, metal ... The studied systems have a high number of difficulties: they are large scale systems, a high coupling between physical values exists and several parameters are time dependent. The classical optimisation method consists in considering separately each subsystem without taking into account interactions. Moreover, the classical optimisation is made for each scientific field. A new approach is developed and applied to controller synthesis: the controllers are synthesized considering the global system with parametric uncertainties. The optimal choice of the master roller position and the technology used to control web tension are then studied

The objective was to maximize the solid mass fraction in the mixture and to minimize the mean particles diameter, by maintaining stable dispersion. The bibliographical research showed the importance of the stabilizer and the operating conditions choices. Preliminary studies carried out in a batch reactor with different stabilizers led to select a polystyrene grafted polyol. A complete study of the synthesis of this stabilizer was carried out and transposed on a pilot scale. For to the continuous process, a complete pilot unit was built around a twin screw extruder. Once the operating conditions were optimized, two influencing parameters were identified (rate of stabilizer and concentration of polystyrene), thus an experimental design was developed. A simple model was created in order to determine the relationships between operating conditions and dispersion’s quality. The use of multicriteria optimization process allowed determining the best compromises for making stable dispersions

Повний текст джерелаThe supply chain design is a set of strategic decisions that determine the best configuration of the supply chain and contribute to its performance. Therefore, our objective is the establishment of a support system to assist decision makers in this process, a crucial step for the sustainability of the Supply Chain. In this work, we focused on three key decisions necessary made at the first stage in the Supply Chain design. These decisions mainly concern: the facility location, the choice of suppliers and make or buy semi-finished products which fall within the formation of a final product. These three decisions are multi-criteria problems. Furthermore, evaluating a wide range of alternatives with respect to conflicting criteria, the lack of reliable data sources, the subjectivity inherent to individuals involved in making decisions, constitute a set of constraints that we are trying to overcome by using a method that has provided valuable solutions in other applications: the fuzzy reasoning. This approach is combined with mathematical optimization method through the concept of total utility. This gives a "hybrid model", because on the one hand it is based on mathematical optimization theory and in the other hand on the multi-criteria theory. It allows considering the operational and strategic aspects of the Supply chain design problem. .

Повний текст джерелаThe additive manufacturing is a field on the rise. However, companies wonder about the use of additive manufacturing for mass production. The problem raised in the context of this thesis is: How to make the process of sintering laser melting industrially viable? Our work focuses on the design and on the management of workshops integrating the additive manufacturing and of the complete process to obtain part according to three levels of decision: strategic, tactic and operational. About the strategic level, strong decisions of investment, machines selection and organization choice are taken with important economic issues. The aim is to define a multicriteria optimization method for the modular design of a production system integrating the additive manufacturing in the presence of uncertain data, optimal in the long term and the short term. From a tactical point of view, not all parts are necessarily relevant candidates for additive manufacturing. In this work, we developed a decision support tool that evaluates the relevance or not of additive manufacturing to obtain parts in a global cost approach. At the operational level, we offer a tool based on flow simulation that allows orders to be placed to production orders and their scheduling in order to guarantee the efficiency of the workshop. This research work is developed in collaboration with companies: AddUp, MBDA and Dassault, who contribute to our work and enable us to compare our tools with an industrial reality

Повний текст джерелаThe building sector is the largest consumer of energy in the world. In Mediterranean region, facing the economic crisis and commitments for climate change, the reduction of energy consumption for both new and existing buildings is more necessary. Against this background, seeking optimal technical solutions taking into account the economic, environmental and societal criteria is a very complex problem due to the high number of parameters to consider. In order to solve this problem, a state of the art of multi-criteria optimization method has been achieved. We found that many constraints exist when using these methods such as high time calculation and no absolute assurance to find the global optimum. Thus, the main objective of the present work is to propose a new method that allows overcome these difficulties. This method is based on the development of polynomial models for the prediction of heating energy needs, cooling energy needs, final energy needs and summer thermal comfort. To establish these models, we used the design of experiments method and dynamic thermal simulations using TRNSYS software. From these models, a sensitivity analysis has been achieved in order to identify the leading parameters on energy requirements and thermal comfort in summer. A database associating each parameter for its cost and environmental impact on its lifetime was generated from CYPE software and INIES database. Then, a detailed parametric study was performed using polynomial functions for determining a set of optimal solutions using the Pareto front approach. This new method was applied to design new buildings with high energy efficiency at controlled costs for the six Moroccan climate zones. The validation of polynomial models through a comparison with random simulations gave very satisfactory results. With a polynomial model of the second order, the maximum error on the energy needs and the adaptive thermal comfort did not exceed 2 kWh/m².an and 9% respectively. The developed models were used for multiple-criteria decision analysis. The results showed that buildings with very low energy needs can be built with a reasonable cost. On the other hand an effort should be focused on more efficient solutions for adaptive thermal comfort in summer especially for Marrakech and Errachidia. Finally, we also implemented our method to a project of energy rehabilitation of an existing building located in La Rochelle (France). Environmental criteria were also taken into account in the optimization process. The selected technical solutions procured approximately 15 kWh/m².year of heating energy needs. The developed multicriteria decision method showed a great potential for both designing new and existing buildings with high energy efficiency. It allows a very fast operational optimization of sustainable buildings at reasonable cost and low energy consumption

Повний текст джерелаNowadays, the aeronautical market grows constantly. To face this, aircraft industry has to restructure and the manufacturing processes must be revised. Indeed, production rate must increase and manufacturing cost decrease while keeping the performances of the parts (weight and mechanical resistance). These objectives are contradictory and compromises must be found. This thesis broaches this problematic in relation to the CORAC. A novel method to optimize an aeronautical structural part and its manufacturing process is developed to tend toward performing compromise solutions. To do so, a three steps multi-criteria method is proposed. First, the industrial expertise is formalized to mathematically express the problem. Then, a genetic algorithm is used to determine a population in which every solution is located on a single Pareto front. At least, a decision step is set up to find the best solution in the population considering the industrial environment of the part. This methodology is applied to an aircraft door manufactured by forging and machining. In this case, it allows choosing the solution that fit the most the industrial environment within a one thousand solutions’ population

This hybrid locomotive integrates a diesel generator coupled with Ni-Cd accumulators and supercapacitors. Based on a "sequential design approach", starting from a pre-defined architecture, the first step deals with the synthesis of the energy management strategy followed by the system sizing. A second step of this study consists in a revision of the design process following a "simultaneous design approach" based on a systemic modelling coupled with a multi criteria optimisation tool. Design choices in terms of sizing and energy management are directly exploited and adapted on the LHYDIE locomotive prototype actually built in SNCF facilities

A Changeable Manufacturing System is defined as a production system that has the ability to facilitate the right changes, allowing the adjustment of its structures and processes in response to the different needs. In this context, manufacturing systems must have a very high level of reconfigurability, which is considered to be one of the major enablers of changeability. From the perspective of the “Factory of the future”, the reconfigurability is essential to effectively adapt to the ever-increasing complexity of manufacturing environments. It allows a rapid, efficient and easy adaptation of these systems while being responsive, robust and economically competitive. The objective is to respond to new internal and external constraints in terms of globalization, variety of products, mass customization, and shorter lead times. Through this thesis, we study the problem of design of reconfigurable manufacturing systems (RMS) that meets these requirements. The goal is to design responsive systems based on their key features of reconfigurability. We have studied the RMS design problem on three levels: (i) the level of the components, relating to the modules of the reconfigurable machines, (ii) the machine level and their interactions, as well as the impact of these interactions on the system and (iii) the workshop level composed of all the reconfigurable machines. We have developed for each level, performance indicators to ensure a better responsiveness and a high performance of the designed system, like the modularity index, the flexibility index, the robustness index and the layout evolution effort of a reconfigurable system. For each of the studied problems, we developed multicriteria optimization models, solved through heuristics or multicriteria metaheuristics (such as archived multi-objective simulated annealing (AMOSA) and multi-objective genetic algorithms (NSGA-II)). Numerous numerical experiments and analyzes have been performed to demonstrate the applicability of our approaches

Повний текст джерелаMulti-objective mixed-integer non-convex non-linear constrained optimization problems that appears in several fields especially in mechanical applications. This thesis aims to develop a new method to solve such problems. Our proposal is a hybridization of the Multi-Criteria Branch-and-Bound (MCBB) algorithm with the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm 2 (NSGAII). The proposed approach is furthermore enhanced by new branching strategies designed for MCBB. The constraints are handled using a new proposed constraint handling technique for evolutionary algorithms. Numerical experiments based on statistical assessment are done in this thesis to examine the performance of the new proposed approach. Results show the competitive performance of our algorithm among NSGAII. We propose two applications of our proposed approach: "Search Feasibility" and "Seek Optimality" applications. Both are applied on a real-world state of art 3 stages reducer problem which is formulated in this thesis to a bi-objective problem to meet the requirement of ISO standards on calculation of load capacity of gears

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis contributes to the debate on how uncertainty and concepts of sustainable development can be put into modern supply chain network and focuses on issues associated with the design of multi-criteria supply chain network under uncertainty. First, we study the literature review , which is a review of the current state of the art of Supply Chain Network Design approaches and resolution methods. Second, we propose a new methodology for multi-criteria Supply Chain Network Design (SCND) as well as its application to real Supply Chain Network (SCN), in order to satisfy the customers demand and respect the environmental, social, legislative, and economical requirements. The methodology consists of two different steps. In the first step, we use Geographic Information System (GIS) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to buildthe model. Then, in the second step, we establish the optimal supply chain network using Mixed Integer Linear Programming model (MILP). Third, we extend the MILP to a multi-objective optimization model that captures a compromisebetween the total cost and the environment influence. We use Goal Programming approach seeking to reach the goals placed by Decision Maker. After that, we develop a novel heuristic solution method based on decomposition technique, to solve large scale supply chain network design problems that we failed to solve using exact methods. The heuristic method is tested on real case instances and numerical comparisons show that our heuristic yield high quality solutions in very limited CPU time. Finally, again, we extend the MILP model presented before where we assume that the costumer demands are uncertain. We use two-stage stochastic programming approach to model the supply chain network under demand uncertainty. Then, we address uncertainty in all SC parameters: opening costs, production costs, storage costs and customers demands. We use possibilistic linear programming approach to model the problem and we validate both approaches in a large application case

A comprehensive analytical model is developed. Prototypes are manufactured, validating the analytical model and highlighting the value of the topology. The arrangement of the power components of a switching cell is then studied. In particular, an analytical model offering an intuitive understanding of the oscillation mechanisms in cells using fast transistors is proposed.A simple and economical top-side connection technic for PCB-embedded power dies using a pressed piece of metal foam is described. A preliminary study, with strong experimental component, is proposed. It shows that the embedded prototypes have electrical performances and a reliability close to that of wire-bonded dies. Finally, the results from the study on the arrangement of the components of a switching cell are used to design and manufacture a chopper based on SiC transistors connected using a piece of pressed metal foam. This chopper proved to be able to continuously deliver 3 kW under 600 V to a load, thereby validating the proposed top-side connection technic

Повний текст джерелаBoth aspirations of users and improvements in the thermal regulation require that the comfort and the energy efficiency of new buildings improve. In addition to these requirements, regulations are strengthening in many fields such as acoustics, fire safety and mechanical performance. The combined effects of these factors are making it increasingly hard to design buildings. This thesis presents a knowledge-aid approach for designing high-performance buildings based on an optimization method. This approach aims to provide clear knowledge of the potential of projects (exploration of various options) for architects and design offices at the beginning of the design that will allow them to design the best possible high-performance buildings. This potential is evaluated using external and internal geometric parameters as well as the energy characteristics of buildings. This approach also allows them to assess geometries and design solutions which are intended to be used for their projects. This approach will be applied to an office building in Lyon, France. For the tested case, the approach obtains quickly efficient solutions and also finds, for some parameters, values to design efficient solutions on part of the Paretofront or in this entire front. This application of the approach also shows that there may be solutions which are close in terms of energy needs and cost but could be very different on design parameters. This problem could influence robustness of the approach but highlights a new problem. This thesis then lays the foundation of a new study on this topic

Nevertheless certain materials are little recycled. It is the case of dark colored polymers. The originality of this work is to have integrated into the process of design two strategies of ecodesign: the limits of current sorting processes and the limits on the resources. This approach succeeded to design a material and its process of recycling. This system brings potentially an environmental bonus by allowing producing more recycled materials on the market, satisfying the consumers by bringing a traceability of these materials and a new technology validated by the development of a demonstrator coupled with an industrial conveyor

Повний текст джерелаCurrent regulations encourage designers and manufacturers to engage in circular economy and eco-design approaches in order to mitigate the environmental impact of their products. Today, design choices are mainly driven by product recoverability assessment. Guidelines associated with design for X approaches are then used as a decision-making tool for finding solutions. It is therefore necessary to establish a link between the assessed recoverability and eco-design guidelines so that designers can better interpret the information they are given and simplify their design process accordingly. An inventory of these guidelines combined with an eco-design for an end-of-life approach makes it possible to identify the associated levers for action. However, there is only minimal correlation between recoverability indicators and the levers associated with the guidelines. Therefore, this proposal aims to build an indicator-based decision-making design methodology based on a multi-criteria analysis of the product's recoverability. It is enhanced by a tooled guide based on eco-design for end-of-life guidelines. The proposed approach has been validated through the study of a Fairphone® included in the WEEE recycling chain

Повний текст джерелаPineapple production is increasing on Réunion Island and represents the first fruit production, in terms of value and yield exported. The heterogeneity of climatic conditions on the island and the diversity of cultural practices, particularly with regard to nitrogen fertilization and irrigation, lead to a high variability in yield, gustatory quality of fruit and use of natural resources. The development of more sustainable cropping systems requires rethinking and optimizing the combination of agricultural practices, by taking into account the specificities of the different production areas. An ad-hoc model, SIMPIÑA was developed to describe the growth and development of pineapple plant and fruit quality (sugar and acid content) depending on climate and cultural practices (sucker weight at planting, planting density, date of flowering induction, fertilization and irrigation). This model has the particularity to integrate process-based model modules (plant growth, sugar content, water and nitrogen balance) and statistical modules (for predicting the acidity of fruit at harvest and the economic part). Cultural practices are taken into account through decision rules that may thus be assessed with the model. A typology of cultural practices was carried out based on interviews of 40 farmers all over Réunion Island and led to three farm's types with specific climatic and organizational constraints. SIMPIÑA was used to explore a wide range of combination of cultural practices, taking into account the constraints of each farm-type. We identified trends of cultural practices combinations which optimize the performances of the systems and that should be tested in the field. This integrative approach has led to significant advances in modeling pineapple production and in defining innovative cropping systems

Повний текст джерелаIn Design space exploration, the resulting data, from simulation of large amount of new design alternatives, can lead to information overload when one good design solution must be chosen. The design space exploration relates to a multi-criteria optimization method in design but in manual mode, for which appropriate tools to support multi-dimensional data visualization are employed. For the designer, a three-phase process - discovery, optimization, selection - is followed according to a paradigm called Design by Shopping. Exploring the design space helps to gain insight into both feasible and infeasible solutions subspaces, and into solutions presenting good trade-offs. Designers learn during these graphical data manipulations and the selection of an optimal solution is based on a so-called informed decision. The objective of this research is the performance of graphs for design space exploration according to the three phases of the Design by Shopping process. In consequence, five graphs, identified as potentially efficient, are tested through two experiments. In the first, thirty participants tested three graphs, in three design scenarios where one car must be chosen out of a total of forty, for the selection phase in a multi-attribute situation where preferences are enounced. A response quality index is proposed to compute the choice quality for each of the three given scenarios, the optimal solutions being compared to the ones resulting from the graphical manipulations. In the second experiment, forty-two novice designers solved two design problems with three graphs. In this case, the performance of graphs is tested for informed decision-making and for the three phases of the process in a multi-objective situation. The results reveal three efficient graphs for the design space exploration: the Scatter Plot Matrix for the discovery phase and for informed decision-making, the Simple Scatter Plot for the optimization phase and the Parallel Coordinate Plot for the selection phase in a multi-attribute as well as multi-objective situation
