The modern higher school main aim is to prepare an intelligent, creative and professional mobile specialist, who can quickly adapt to all changes and his/her careers change. There is the practice-oriented concept of the future ecologists’ professional mobility. The concept makes the unity of the theoretical and methodological approaches for the future ecologists’ professional mobility development process in higher school. We take the projects as an example of using the problem project approach: 1) modern environmental problems; 2) environmental and economic issues; 3) knowledge of an ecologist; 4) Industrial Ecology. The foundation of the practice-oriented concept of the future ecologists’ professional mobility in higher school presents laws and principles. The implementation of the concept is a future ecologists’ professional mobility system in higher school. It presents an integration of the components: aim component, diagnostic and design component, motivation and promotion component, content component, organization and activity component, evaluation and diagnostic component.

The material properties of a steel slab produced during continuous casting are significantly influenced by the kinetics of the austenite(γ)-to-ferrite(α) phase transformation. Former theoretical models either have used a semi-empirical approach (such as the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami equation) or simplified the situation by assuming an infinite mobility of the phase interface and/or zero mobility of substitutionally dissolved components. In general the transformation kinetics in a multi-component system depends on the interface mobility and on the diffusion of the components. A finite mobility model for the phase transformation has been developed that takes into account the diffusion of substitutionally dissolved components. As an example the kinetics of the γ/α-phase transformation is simulated in the Fe-Cr-Ni system.

With the onset of COVID-19 and the resulting shelter in place guidelines combined with remote working practices, human mobility in 2020 has been dramatically impacted. Existing studies typically examine whether mobility in specific localities increases or decreases at specific points in time and relate these changes to certain pandemic and policy events. However, a more comprehensive analysis of mobility change over time is needed. In this paper, we study mobility change in the US through a five-step process using mobility footprint data. (Step 1) Propose the Delta Time Spent in Public Places (ΔTSPP) as a measure to quantify daily changes in mobility for each US county from 2019-2020. (Step 2) Conduct Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to reduce the ΔTSPP time series of each county to lower-dimensional latent components of change in mobility. (Step 3) Conduct clustering analysis to find counties that exhibit similar latent components. (Step 4) Investigate local and global spatial autocorrelation for each component. (Step 5) Conduct correlation analysis to investigate how various population characteristics and behavior correlate with mobility patterns. Results show that by describing each county as a linear combination of the three latent components, we can explain 59% of the variation in mobility trends across all US counties. Specifically, change in mobility in 2020 for US counties can be explained as a combination of three latent components: 1) long-term reduction in mobility, 2) no change in mobility, and 3) short-term reduction in mobility. Furthermore, we find that US counties that are geographically close are more likely to exhibit a similar change in mobility. Finally, we observe significant correlations between the three latent components of mobility change and various population characteristics, including political leaning, population, COVID-19 cases and deaths, and unemployment. We find that our analysis provides a comprehensive understanding of mobility change in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Many people with lower limb amputation experience mobility impairment and reduced quality of life. Mobility clinics are designed to improve mobility and quality of life for people with lower limb amputation, but their effectiveness is unknown. Objectives: To compare changes in mobility prior to, and 12 weeks following participation in mobility clinic for people with lower limb amputation, and to explain whether changes in mobility explained changes in quality of life. To determine whether the PLUS-M™ was sensitive to the effects of participation in the mobility clinic, and to estimate the sample size required for a definitive study. Study design: Longitudinal observational. Methods: Electronic versions of the PLUS-M and SF-36v2® were completed by people living in the community with lower limb amputation prior to, and 12 weeks following participation in a mobility clinic. Results: There was a significant increase in mobility from baseline to 12 weeks post participation in the clinic ( p = 0.012). Changes in mobility explained a significant proportion of variance in the SF-36v2 mental component summary ( p = 0.024) but not the physical component summary ( p = 0.804). Conclusion: For people with lower limb amputation, mobility increased after participation in the clinic and this explained improvements in SF-36v2 mental component summary. The PLUS-M was sensitive enough to detect a change in mobility over time. Clinical relevance This preliminary data indicated that participation in a mobility clinic improved mobility and the mental components of quality of life for people living with lower limb amputation. The PLUS-M™ seems sensitive to changes in mobility as a result of participation in a mobility clinic.

Abstract We have used NMR relaxation and pulsed-gradient diffusion measurements at 70 °C in unfilled butadiene rubber (BR) before and after crosslinking, and after subsequent devulcanization by intense ultrasound. In an effort to support this method of rubber recycling, characterization has been performed at the molecular level. The transverse relaxation (T2) decay was successfully described using a three-component model. The components are attributed to entangled and crosslinked networks; light sol and dangling network fragments; and partially unreactive oligomers. All component molecular mobilities and the relative contributions of the components to the echo were investigated. Devulcanization decreases the diffusivity of the oligomer remnants and increases mean diffusivity of the light sol. The additional amount of extractable sol produced by devulcanization of BR is more than that of silicone rubber, indicating that the ultrasonic devulcanization of BR is more efficient than that of silicone rubber. The present results are compared with our previous NMR studies of devulcanized rubbers.

SummaryProsthetic dislocation is one of the most common complications after canine hip replacement. The use of dual mobility acetabular components has been shown to reduce the rate of dislocation in first intent hip replacement in human patients who are at high risk for dislocation. In such implants, a mobile polyethylene liner articulates on one side with a metallic acetabular component and on the other side with a metallic prosthetic head. A dual mobility cemented acetabular component has been designed for use in dogs, and is available for use in association with a previously designed modular femoral component. This report describes the characteristics and the procedure for implantation of this implant combination.

ABSTRACT Patients undergoing a revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) are at increased risk for dislocation. The literature suggests dual-mobility components may decrease the frequency of dislocation. We conducted a retrospective study of one type of dual mobility acetabular component implanted in 82 revision THA cases that were considered at increased risk for dislocation. Of the 82 hips, 58 had a mean follow-up of 12 months (3–28 months). The indication for revision was instability in 18 hips (31%), adverse metal-on-metal reaction in 13 hips (22%), reimplantation for infection in 11 hips (19%), and aseptic loosening of the acetabular component in 9 hips (16%). In the course of follow-up, 6 hips developed a deep infection requiring reoperation. There were no early hip dislocations. Histories of modern mobility often assume that modern forms of movement arrived in East Asia as part of a universal process of historical development. This article shows that the valorization of modern mobility in East Asia emerged out of the specific context of Euro-American imperial encroachment and Japanese imperial expansion. Through an examination of the tropes of opening and connecting, the article argues that the mobility of the modern can be understood as an “imperial” mobility in two senses: one, as a key component in European, American, and Japanese arguments for the legitimacy of empire; and two, as a global theory of history that constituted circulation as a measure of historical difference.

This paper presents identification and estimation results for a flexible state space model. Our modification of the canonical model allows the permanent component to follow a unit root process and the transitory component to follow a semiparametric model of a higher‐order autoregressive‐moving‐average (ARMA) process. Using panel data of observed earnings, we establish identification of the nonparametric joint distributions for each of the permanent and transitory components over time. We apply the identification and estimation method to the earnings dynamics of U.S. men using the Panel Survey of Income Dynamics (PSID). The results show that the marginal distributions of permanent and transitory earnings components are more dispersed, more skewed, and have fatter tails than the normal and that earnings mobility is much lower than for the normal. We also find strong evidence for the existence of higher‐order ARMA processes in the transitory component, which lead to much different estimates of the distributions of and earnings mobility in the permanent component, implying that misspecification of the process for transitory earnings can affect estimated distributions of the permanent component and estimated earnings dynamics of that component. Thus our flexible model implies earnings dynamics for U.S. men different from much of the prior literature.

The grain-boundary (GB) mobility relates the GB velocity to the driving force. While the GB velocity is normally associated with motion of the GB normal to the GB plane, there is often a tangential motion of one grain with respect to the other across a GB; i.e., the GB velocity is a vector. GB motion can be driven by a jump in chemical potential across a GB or by shear applied parallel to the GB plane; the driving force has three components. Hence, the GB mobility must be a tensor (the off-diagonal components indicate shear coupling). Performing molecular dynamics (MD) simulations on a symmetric-tilt GB in copper, we demonstrate that all six components of the GB mobility tensor are nonzero (the mobility tensor is symmetric, as required by Onsager). We demonstrate that some of these mobility components increase with temperature, while, surprisingly, others decrease. We develop a disconnection dynamics-based statistical model that suggests that GB mobilities follow an Arrhenius relation with respect to temperature T below a critical temperatureTcand decrease as1/Tabove it.Tcis related to the operative disconnection mode(s) and its (their) energetics. For any GB, which disconnection modes dominate depends on the nature of the driving force and the mobility component of interest. Finally, we examine the impact of the generalization of the mobility for applications in classical capillarity-driven grain growth. We demonstrate that stress generation during GB migration (shear coupling) necessarily slows grain growth and reduces GB mobility in polycrystals.

Aims Navigation devices are designed to improve a surgeon’s accuracy in positioning the acetabular and femoral components in total hip arthroplasty (THA). The purpose of this study was to both evaluate the accuracy of an optical computer-assisted surgery (CAS) navigation system and determine whether preoperative spinopelvic mobility (categorized as hypermobile, normal, or stiff) increased the risk of acetabular component placement error. Methods A total of 356 patients undergoing primary THA were prospectively enrolled from November 2016 to March 2018. Clinically relevant error using the CAS system was defined as a difference of > 5° between CAS and 3D radiological reconstruction measurements for acetabular component inclination and anteversion. Univariate and multiple logistic regression analyses were conducted to determine whether hypermobile ([Formula: see text]sacral slope(SS)stand-sit > 30°), or stiff ([Formula: see text]SSstand-sit < 10°) spinopelvic mobility contributed to increased error rates. Results The paired absolute difference between CAS and postoperative imaging measurements was 2.3° (standard deviation (SD) 2.6°) for inclination and 3.1° (SD 4.2°) for anteversion. Using a target zone of 40° (± 10°) (inclination) and 20° (± 10°) (anteversion), postoperative standing radiographs measured 96% of acetabular components within the target zone for both inclination and anteversion. Multiple logistic regression analysis controlling for BMI and sex revealed that hypermobile spinopelvic mobility significantly increased error rates for anteversion (odds ratio (OR) 2.48, p = 0.009) and inclination (OR 2.44, p = 0.016), whereas stiff spinopelvic mobility increased error rates for anteversion (OR 1.97, p = 0.028). There were no dislocations at a minimum three-year follow-up. Conclusion Despite high reliability in acetabular positioning for inclination in a large patient cohort using an optical CAS system, hypermobile and stiff spinopelvic mobility significantly increased the risk of clinically relevant errors. In patients with abnormal spinopelvic mobility, CAS systems should be adjusted for use to avoid acetabular component misalignment and subsequent risk for long-term dislocation. Background: As a consequence of use of metal-on-metal hip arthroplasties some patients have precised revision for pain or metal hipersensivity reactions among other causes. We propose to salvage monoblock acetabular component and femoral component using a dual-mobility head and perform a lower morbidity operation in young patients preserving host bone stock in cases with well fixed and positioned components. Objective: (1) What clinical problems have been reported in patients with Metal-on-metal hip arthroplasties? (2) Could the tribocorrosion potentially cause a fracture of neck femoral component? (3) Can be the dual-mobility head a recourse in metal-on-metal hip revision? Methods: Ten patients were revised for pain or/and raised Cobalt/Chromium levels between August 2012 and December 2015. In three cases femoral neck component was fractured and femoral revision was necessary. In four hips, acetabular and femoral components could be maintained. Age, body index mass, ion levels, acetabular position, size of acetabular component and femoral head, approach, blood transfunsion and time of hospitalization were analized. Results: At a mean follow-up of 25,6 months (6 to 45) the mean postoperative HHS was 92. It was not statistically significant because several patients were low sintomatic before surgery, but had raised Cobalt/Chromium levels in the blood. All patients had near-normal levels of Cobalt/Chromium during the first 6 months after revision surgery. No relevant complications were reported. Conclusion: The use of dual-mobility head can be an acceptable option to revise metal-on-metal arthroplasties correctly oriented with abscence of loosening or infection signs and keeping bone stock in young patients.

Human mobility is crucial to understand the transmission pattern of COVID-19 on spatially embedded geographic networks. This pattern seems unpredictable, and the propagation appears unstoppable, resulting in over 350,000 death tolls in the U.S. by the end of 2020. Here, we create the spatiotemporal inter-county mobility network using 10 TB (Terabytes) trajectory data of 30 million smart devices in the U.S. in the first six months of 2020. We investigate the bond percolation process by removing the weakly connected edges. As we increase the threshold, the mobility network nodes become less interconnected and thus experience surprisingly abrupt phase transitions. Despite the complex behaviors of the mobility network, we devised a novel approach to identify a small, manageable set of recurrent critical bridges, connecting the giant component and the second-largest component. These adaptive links, located across the United States, played a key role as valves connecting components in divisions and regions during the pandemic. Beyond, our numerical results unveil that network characteristics determine the critical thresholds and the bridge locations. The findings provide new insights into managing and controlling the connectivity of mobility networks during unprecedented disruptions. The work can also potentially offer practical future infectious diseases both globally and locally.

Press-fit acetabular components are susceptible to rim deformation. The inherent variability within acetabular reaming techniques may generate increased press-fit and, subsequently, additional component deformation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the insertion and deformation characteristics of acetabular components designed for dual-mobility systems based on component design, size, and reaming technique. Shell deformation was quantified in a validated worst-case scenario foam pinch model. Thin-walled, one-piece, and modular dual-mobility shells of varying size were implanted in under- and over-reamed cavities with insertion force measured and shell deformation assessed using digital image correlation. Increased shell size resulted in larger rim deformation in one-piece components, with a reduction in press-fit by 1 mm resulting in up to 48% reduction in insertion forces and between 23% and 51% reduction in shell deformation. Lower insertion forces and deformations were observed in modular components. Variability in acetabular reaming plays a significant role in the ease of implantation and component deformation in total hip arthroplasty. Modular components are less susceptible to deformation than thin-walled monoblock shells. Care should be taken to avoid excessive under-reaming, particularly in the scenario of large shell size and high-density patient bone stock.

Abstract: In the pursuit of sustainable transportation solutions, the integration of hydrogen fuel cells presents at the bicycles. This paper explores the high-level design considerations for a hydrogen-powered bicycle, focusing on key components such as the fuel cell system, hydrogen storage, powertrain, and overall vehicle architecture. The fuel cell system is a critical component, converting hydrogen gas into electricity to power an electric motor. The hydrogen storage system must be lightweight, compact, and safe, utilizing advanced materials and technologies to store hydrogen at high pressures. The powertrain of the hydrogenpowered bicycle involves the integration of the electric motor with the bicycle's drivetrain, ensuring efficient power delivered to the wheels. The overall vehicle architecture considers the integration of these components into a functional, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing design. Additionally, the paper discusses the environmental impact of hydrogen-powered bicycles, comparing them to traditional bicycles and other forms of transportation. The potential benefits of hydrogen-powered bicycles include zero-emission operation, long-range capabilities, and rapid refuelling times. Overall, the development of hydrogenpowered bicycles has the potential to revolutionize urban mobility, offering a clean, efficient, and sustainable alternative to traditional transportation methods.

Aims Adverse spinal motion or balance (spine mobility) and adverse pelvic mobility, in combination, are often referred to as adverse spinopelvic mobility (SPM). A stiff lumbar spine, large posterior standing pelvic tilt, and severe sagittal spinal deformity have been identified as risk factors for increased hip instability. Adverse SPM can create functional malposition of the acetabular components and hence is an instability risk. Adverse pelvic mobility is often, but not always, associated with abnormal spinal motion parameters. Dislocation rates for dual-mobility articulations (DMAs) have been reported to be between 0% and 1.1%. The aim of this study was to determine the early survivorship from the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR) of patients with adverse SPM who received a DMA. Methods A multicentre study was performed using data from 227 patients undergoing primary total hip arthroplasty (THA), enrolled consecutively. All the patients who had one or more adverse spine or pelvic mobility parameter had a DMA inserted at the time of their surgery. The mean age was 76 years (22 to 93) and 63% were female (n = 145). At a mean of 14 months (5 to 31) postoperatively, the AOANJRR was analyzed for follow-up information. Reasons for revision and types of revision were identified. Results The AOANJRR reported two revisions: one due to infection, and the second due to femoral component loosening. No revisions for dislocation were reported. One patient died with the prosthesis in situ. Kaplan-Meier survival rate was 99.1% (95% confidence interval 98.3 to 100) at 14 months (number at risk 104). Conclusion In our cohort of patients undergoing primary THA with one or more factor associated with adverse SPM, DM bearings conferred stability at two years’ follow-up. ObjectivesImmune response to cytomegalovirus (CMV) impacts adult chronic disease. This study investigates associations of childhood and adulthood social environment, socioeconomic position (SEP) and social mobility with CMV response in young adults.DesignHistorical prospective study design.SettingSubcohort of all 17 003 births to residents of Jerusalem between 1974 and 1976.ParticipantsParticipants included 1319 young adults born in Jerusalem with extensive archival and follow-up data, including childhood and adulthood SEP-related factors and anti-CMV IgG titre levels and seroprevalence measured at age 32.Main exposure and outcome measuresPrincipal component analysis was used to transform correlated social environment and SEP-related variables at two time points (childhood and adulthood) into two major scores reflecting household (eg, number of siblings/children, religiosity) and socioeconomic (eg, occupation, education) components. Based on these components, social mobility variables were created. Linear and Poisson regression models were used to investigate associations of components and mobility with anti-CMV IgG titre level and seroprevalence, adjusted for confounders.ResultsLower levels of household and socioeconomic components in either childhood or adulthood were associated with higher anti-CMV IgG titre level and seropositivity at age 32. Compared with individuals with stable favourable components, anti-CMV IgG titre level and risk for seropositivity were higher in stable unfavourable household and socioeconomic components (household: β=3.23, P<0.001; relative risk (RR)=1.21, P<0.001; socioeconomic: β=2.20, P=0.001; RR=1.14, P=0.01), downward household mobility (β=4.32, P<0.001; RR=1.26, P<0.001) and upward socioeconomic mobility (β=1.37, P=0.04; RR=1.19, P<0.001). Among seropositive individuals, associations between household components and mobility with anti-CMV IgG titre level were maintained and associations between socioeconomic components and mobility with anti-CMV IgG titre level were attenuated.ConclusionsOur study provides evidence that accumulating low SEP from childhood through adulthood and social mobility may compromise immune response in young adulthood.

Motion of cytochrome c bound to giant (2-10-micron diam) mitochondria isolated from the waterbug Lethocerus indicus was examined using the technique of fluorescence recovery after photobleaching. Fluorescent cytochrome c was exchanged for native cytochrome c through partly damaged outer membrane. Recovery profiles were not statistically different when the fluorescence from iron-free cytochrome c or fluorescein-labeled cytochrome c was used and were essentially the same in the presence or absence of an uncoupler. In the presence of excess porphyrin cytochrome c, the apparent diffusion coefficient was 6 X 10(-11) cm2/s in 0.3 M sucrose-mannitol-EDTA and 3 X 10(-10) cm2/s in 0.10 M KCl/0.10 M sucrose. At concentrations of porphyrin cytochrome c that are stoichiometric with cytochrome c oxidase and for mitochondria in which excess cytochrome c was washed away, two components were observed in the recovery profile. The diffusion coefficient of the fast component was 1 X 10(-10) cm2/s. The second component showed no recovery during the time scale of measurement (D less than 10(-12) cm2/s). We speculate on the origin of the immobile fraction.

It has been suggested that physical and cognitive functions are associated with health-related quality of life (HRQL). Previous work examining the relationship between physical ability and HRQL is equivocal, and information about cognitive function in relation to HRQL is largely restricted to people with cognitive impairments. We investigated the relationships of physical ability and cognitive performance to HRQL in 44 older adults (72-93 years). The results suggest significant relationships between the endurance item of the AAHPERD test and the physical mobility and pain components of HRQL and between AAHPERD agility scores and the physical mobility component of HRQL. Visual simple-reaction time and the backward digit-span memory test were found to be related to physical mobility. The subject-performed-tasks memory test was related to the social component of HRQL. These data support the use of the AAHPERD test for characterizing physical ability of older adults as it relates to HRQL and identify specific cognitive support measures that reflect the relationship between cognition and HRQL in older adults.

Poverty is a critical issue in sustainable development, and the study of poverty has gradually shifted from absolute to relative poverty. This paper measures three types of relative poverty—strongly relative poverty (50% of median income), strongly relative poverty (50% of mean income), and weakly relative poverty. Then this paper decomposes the change of relative poverty into the growth component, redistribution component, and poverty line change component. Further, the intra- and inter-group decompositions of relative poverty change are carried out by considering the urban and rural population mobility components. We apply the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) data from 1989 to 2015 for an empirical study. The results show that: (1) In recent years, the change in relative poverty in China has shown a trend of low fluctuation (1989–1997), rising fluctuation (1997–2006), and high fluctuation (2006–2015). (2) In the decomposition of relative poverty change, the growth component has the most excellent effect on alleviating relative poverty, the redistribution component exacerbates the occurrence of relative poverty in most years and reduces it in a few years, and the poverty line change component offsets the poverty reduction effect of the growth component. (3) The change in relative poverty is decomposed by urban and rural sub-groups, and it is found that the population mobility from rural to urban can reduce the national relative poverty.

Access to research infrastructures has been supported by the European Commission under different financial schemes. During the 6th EURATOM Framework Programme the instrument introduced by the European Commission were the Integrated Infrastructure Initiatives (I-3). Moreover, funding schemes to support Education and Training for students and professional developments were defined also. The main difference between these two funding schemes is that I-3 are topic-driven projects with access to infrastructure components, while the Education and Training related projects have a mobility component that is applied for the different research topics. The outcome of projects as TALISMAN (I-3), EFNUDAT/NUDAME (I-3), GENTLE (mobility), ENEN-plus (mobility), NUGENIA-plus (mobility within TA of NUGENIA) and ESNII-plus (I-3 similar) will be shortly presented as well as the future European Commission plans in the field of access to research infrastructure.

The generation and prediction of daily human mobility patterns have raised significant interest in many scientific disciplines. Using various data sources, previous studies have examined several deep learning frameworks, such as the RNN and GAN, to synthesize human movements. Transformer models have been used frequently for image analysis and language processing, while the applications of these models on human mobility are limited. In this study, we construct a transformer model, including a self-attention-based embedding component and a Generative Pre-trained Transformer component, to learn daily movements. The embedding component takes regional attributes as input and learns regional relationships to output vector representations for locations, enabling the second component to generate different mobility patterns for various scenarios. The proposed model shows satisfactory performance for generating and predicting human mobilities, superior to a Long Short-Term Memory model in terms of several aggregated statistics and sequential characteristics. Further examination indicates that the proposed model learned the spatial structure and the temporal relationship of human mobility, which generally agrees with our empirical analysis. This observation suggests that the transformer framework can be a promising model for learning and understanding human movements.

Abstract Background: Some investigations show that obesity is associated with increase in bone mass due to excessive mechanical exertion. However, these data are contradictory as loss of mineral density of bone tissue and, respectively, the risk of fractures in this population group is higher. The aim of the research was to investigate impact of drug therapy with zoledronic acid on nanostructure of bones in rats with limited mobility and high-calorie diet. Methods: Rats (n = 56) were distributed into three groups: control (n = 18) – standard vivarium conditions, І experimental group (n = 18) – rats, which were on a high-calorie diet with limited mobility (HCD+LM), ІІ experimental group (n = 18) – HCD+LM+zoledronic acid. Zoledronic acid was injected at the dose 0.025 mg/kg intramuscularly every four weeks for six months. X-ray structure analysis, scanning electron microscopy and atomic absorption spectrometry were used for investigation of ultrastructure and quantitative assessment of mineral component loss in the femoral neck. Results: Obesity and limited mobility reduced the level of the mineral component in the femoral neck (−31.5%) compared with control. It is significant that zoledronic acid did not permit decrease in mineral component of the bone throughout the entire experiment compared with group I (+41.8%), and all parameters were higher than in control group (+15%). Conclusions: Obesity and limited mobility negatively affect mineral bone mass. Zoledronic acid induces increase in the mineral component as a result of remodeling inhibition under conditions of obesity and limited mobility modeling.

Introduction. Pedagogical and psychological science and practice emphasize the importance of various modes of study for maintaining the health and psychological well-being of people in late age. Determining occupational health predictors makes it possible to predict adequate methods for including older people in the educational environment and develop effective learning technologies. The research purpose is to detail the relationship between occupational health in late age and personal mobility as its integral predictor. Materials and methods. The empirical study involved 355 residents of Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region (Russian Federation) aged 50 to 80. Three comparison groups were identified: non-working pensioners, working pensioners, a comparison group – working people of pre-retirement age. A complex of 15 psychodiagnostic methods was implemented, describing as follows: 1) personal mobility as an individual property, life strategy, readiness for mobile behavior; 2) the emotional, reflective, value-motivational, activity components of occupational health; 3) psychological well-being. The methods of descriptive and comparative statistics, the correlation, cluster, factorial, regression, dispersion analysis were used for data processing. Results. A three-component structure of occupational health at a late age and an eight-component structure of personal mobility are described (the share of explained dispersion of factor models is 0.42 and 0.51, respectively). The initial theoretical model of contingency between the occupational health of older people and personal mobility as its predictor was empirically verified and clarified: a list of mobility characteristics was determined that affects each of the three components of occupational health – the activity, emotional-reflexive components and psychological well-being (the coefficient of determination of regression models is 0.42 , 0.29 and 0.28 respectively). Discussion and conclusions. The research results made it possible to recommend the principles for developing technologies for teaching to preserve occupational health: complexity and universality, reliance on the free choice of the content and modes of study by an older person. Methods that meet these principles were defined: the formation of personal mobility as an integral occupational health predictor, work with life experience, dynamic learning, the use of reflection as a development mechanism in late age.

Abstract Purpose Concerns remain about potential increased wear with dual mobility cups related to the multiple articulations involved in this specific design of implant. This finite element analysis study aimed to compare polyethylene (PE) wear between dual mobility cup and conventional acetabular component, and between the use of conventional ultra-high molecular weight PE (UHMWPE) and highly cross-linked PE (XPLE). Methods Patient-specific finite element modeling was developed for 15 patients undergoing primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). Five acetabular components were 3D modeled and compared in THA constructs replicating existing implants: a dual mobility cup with a 22.2-mm-diameter femoral head against UHMWPE or XLPE (DM22PE or DM22XL), a conventional cup with a 22.2-mm-diameter femoral head against UHMWPE (SD22PE) and a conventional cup with a 32-mm-diameter femoral head against UHMWPE or XLPE (SD32PE or SD32XL). Results DM22PE produced 4.6 times and 5.1 times more volumetric wear than SD32XL and DM22XL (p < 0.0001, Cohen’s d = 6.97 and 7.11; respectively). However, even if significant, the differences in volumetric wear between DM22XL and SD32XL as well as between DM22PE and SD22PE or SD32PE were small according to their effect size (p < 0.0001, Cohen’s |d|= 0.48 to 0.65) and could be therefore considered as clinically negligible. Conclusion When using XLPE instead of UHMWPE, dual mobility cup with a 22.2-mm-diameter femoral head produced a similar amount of volumetric wear than conventional acetabular component with a 32-mm-diameter femoral head against XLPE. Therefore, XLPE is advocated in dual mobility cup to improve its wear performance.

Life course events can change household travel demand dramatically. Recent studies of car ownership have examined the impacts of life course events on the purchasing, replacing, and disposing of cars. However, with the increasing diversification of mobility tools, changing the fleet size is not the only option to adapt to the change caused by life course events. People have various options with the development of sustainable mobility tools including electric car, electric bike, and car sharing. In order to determine the impacts of life course events on car ownership and the decision of mobility tool type, a stated choice experiment was conducted. The experiment also investigated how the attributes of mobility tools related to the acceptance of them. Based on existing literature, we identified the attributes of mobility tools and several life course events which are considered to be influential in car ownership decision and new types of mobility tools choice. The error component random parameter logit model was estimated. The heterogeneity across people on current car and specific mobility tools are considered. The results indicate people incline not to sell their current car when they choose an electric bike or shared car. Regarding the life course events, baby birth increases the probability to purchase an additional car, while it decreases the probability to purchase an electric bike or joining a car sharing scheme. Moreover, the estimation of error components implies that there is unobserved heterogeneity across respondents on the sustainable mobility tools choice and the decision on household’s current car.

Use of a dual-mobility acetabular cup is associated with a lower risk of dislocation compared with conventional hip implants. The seleXys® DS acetabular cup combines the advantages of Charnley low-friction arthroplasty with those of dual mobility. We performed a non-randomised, prospective study of patients receiving primary hip arthroplasty, including an uncemented seleXys® DS dual-mobility acetabular cup with hydroxyapatite coating (Mathys AG, Bettlach, Switzerland) and a cemented femoral component (Stallion femoral stem Groupe Lepine, Lyon, France). The objective of the study was to evaluate longevity of the implant and the risk of dislocation. All operations were performed by a single surgeon using a posterior approach, with patients lying in the lateral decubitus position. The stem had a modular head diameter of 22.2 mm and was cemented in all patients. A total of 53 patients were studied, and the median duration of follow-up was 78.9 months. Implant survival 6 years after surgery was 98.4% (n=47; 95% CI: 89.3–99.8). There was one revision for sepsis 29 months after surgery, and one dislocation. The results of this study appear to demonstrate excellent implant survival and a low rate of dislocation using the chosen implants.

The presented article examines the problem of students’ readiness to distance learning from the point of view of developing their mobility, as a priority characteristic of a modern specialist. The relevance of the problem is due to the processes of informatization of education as a modern trend in the development of education and the rapid introduction of distance learning in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, mobility is a significant quality of a specialist’s personality, which is manifested in readiness for various spatial movements and adaptation to different situations. The article presents the results of an empirical study of students of specialty 016 Special education, based on the results of an online survey. The results of the study showed the predominance of positive attitude of students to distance learning, the main advantages of which are convenience, time savings and the ability to get an education at home. The main disadvantage, in addition to poor-quality internet connection, is the lack of live communication, which is also the main need of students. Despite the positive assessment of distance learning, students do not consider it as high-quality and do not want to teach children with special educational needs remotely. In order to form students’ readiness towards distance learning and remote work, it is advisable to define the formation of mobility as the quality of a specialist in the process of professional training, since distance or blended learning is a modern form of education and has a significant potential for further development.

Purpose.Instability is a challenging complication of revision hip arthroplasty and a frequent cause of repeatrevisions. Constrained liners and dual mobility systems have gained major attention among the options of dislocation prophylaxis. The aimof this study is to compare the outcomes of revision hip arthroplasy with use of constrained liners and dual mobility systems. Materials and Methods. We used DePuy Duraloc (inner diameter 28 mm) and Zimmer Trilogy (inner diameter32 mm) systems in the constrained liners group (N 78, mean follow-up — 66.2 month, 54-82), Serf Novae and Biomet Avantage systems in the dual mobility group (N 58, mean follow-up — 17.8 month, 10-41). The two groups were comparable in age, sex and different potential dislocation risk factors, however, dual mobility cups were used more frequently in revisions due to unreduced and recurrent dislocations and in patients with the history of instability following total hip arthroplasty. There were also differences in the structure of primary diagnosis. Results. We observed 14 (17.9%) dislocations, 10 (12.8%) of which occurred within 2 years after surgery, and also3 (3.8%) cases of aseptic loosening of the acetabular component, 4 (5.1%) cases of locking mechanism damage without dislocation and 8 (10.3%) cases of deep infection in the constrained liners group. In the dual mobility group we observed 3 (5.17%) large articulation dislocations, 1 (1.7%) case of aseptic loosening of the acetabular component and 4 (6.9%) cases of deep infection. The difference in dislocation rates in two groups was significant (p<0.05). The analysis of the constrained liners group revealed an increased risk of dislocation in cases when a constrained system was implanted into a retained acetabular component compared to cases with acetabular shell revision (p<0.01; RR = 7.2, 95% CI: 2.05-25.26), as well as a trend for increased risk of dislocation in cases when DePuy Duraloc liners (inner diameter 28 mm) were used compared to Zimmer Trilogy (inner diameter 32 mm) (p= 0.07; RR = 4.97, 95% CI: 1.03-24.04). Conclusion. Dual mobility systems proved to be more effective than constrained liners in revision hip arthroplastyalthough being used more frequently as a treatment rather than prophylaxis of instability. Constrained liners bear a higher risk of dislocations when implanted into retained acetabular components and when used with heads of lesser diameter.

Abstract The study aims to assess transport systems in terms of ISO 37120 indicators in selected European cities. Using the principal components analysis, the research identified significantly correlated variables associated with urban transport. Three principal components explained almost 87% of input data variability. The first principal component was mainly related to transportation fatalities, the second component — to the length of bicycle paths, and the third component — to the length of the network used by light passenger public transport. A strong correlation was found between the length of high capacity public transport and transportation fatalities. Furthermore, the analysis proved that the Aalter transport system was an outlier. The paper concludes by identifying several recommendations on the improvement of urban transport management and the development of low-carbon mobility systems.

In this paper, I seek to explore the concept of mystical mobility as a way of addressing travelling and thus using mobility resources that go beyond the transport agenda. I propose to address innovative paths and research questions by discussing alternative cultural geographies in order to seriously reconsider the concept of mobility in a broad sense. The work aims to introduce the notion of ‘mystical mobility’ and its relationship with entheogens (i.e. psychoactive substances) as a new component of mobility studies, also considering how physical and mystical trips are (or are not) combined.

ObjectiveTo investigate the relationships between several health outcomes in ankylosing spondylitis (AS).MethodsBaseline pretreatment data from 214 patients with AS participating in the AS Study for the Evaluation of Recombinant Infliximab Therapy were analysed. Measures of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and physical function were used as dependent variables in linear regression analysis. Associations between HRQoL (36-Item Short Form (SF-36)), physical function, clinical disease activity, spinal mobility, structural damage, MRI inflammation, disease duration, age, gender, body mass index and HLA-B27 were explored. Univariate associations were retested in multivariate models. The robustness of the models was evaluated by sensitivity analyses.ResultsThe physical component of SF-36 was independently associated with measures of physical function and disease activity (adjusted R2 (adjR2)=0.39–0.40). The mental component of SF-36 was independently associated with physical function (adjR2=0.07). Physical function was independently associated with measures of spinal mobility and disease activity (adjR2=0.39–0.45). Spinal mobility was hierarchically shown to be an intermediate variable between structural damage and physical function, while physical function was shown to be intermediate between spinal mobility and the physical component of SF-36.ConclusionAccording to the proposed stratified model for health outcomes in AS, HRQoL is determined by physical function and disease activity, physical function is determined by spinal mobility and disease activity, and spinal mobility is determined by structural damage and inflammation of the spine. As more is learnt about how to measure AS, knowledge about the disease improves and better decisions can be made on the assessment and treatment of this disease.

Gradient-polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis of human milk serum separated three high-Mr glycoprotein bands. The properties of the components corresponding to the three bands (tentatively termed ‘Components C, B and A’ in their order of migration) were compared by staining with four monoclonal antibodies and lectins. Components B and C both reacted with the four antibodies, but Component A did not. Components B and C were stained with peanut (Arachis hypogaea) agglutinin (PNA) and wheat (Triticum)-germ agglutinin (WGA), Component A being stained with soya-bean (Glycine max) agglutinin as well as PNA and WGA. These results suggest that Components B and C were related molecules, whereas Component A was markedly different from them. The reactivities of Components B and C were the same as those of PAS-0, a high-Mr periodate/Schiff (PAS)-positive glycoprotein previously isolated from human milk fat-globule membrane (MFGM). Component C, whose electrophoretic mobility was the same as PAS-0, could have been a soluble form of PAS-0. A high-Mr glycoprotein having the same properties as Component A was also observed in MFGM. The amino acid composition of the isolated Component A was significantly different from that of Component C and PAS-0, high threonine and serine contents being characteristic of Component A. The carbohydrate content of Component A was 65-80%, and was much higher than that of Component C and PAS-0. Fucose, galactose, N-acetylglucosamine, N-acetylgalactosamine and sialic acid were each detected as constituent sugars of Component A. Component A represents, therefore, a new high-Mr glycoprotein species in human milk serum and MFGM. Since these glycoproteins were high-Mr mucin-like glycoproteins, the names ‘HM glycoprotein-A’ and ‘HM glycoprotein-C’ were proposed for Component A and Component C (PAS-O) respectively.

Empowering women for labour mobility is acknowledged as a component of good midwifery care, yet challenges persist in hospital settings. While the benefits of antenatal education are recognised as supporting labour mobility, specific details and correlations with outcomes remain deficient. A comprehensive synthesis of interventions empowering women for labour mobility is lacking. This study aims to map strategies in antenatal education for labour mobility, utilising JBI methodology. The review will centre on antenatal education, highlighting crucial information for strategies to enhance women’s decision-making and childbirth self-efficacy, fostering labour mobility and upright positions during labour.

Aims Instability remains a challenging problem in both primary and revision total hip arthroplasty (THA). Dual mobility components confer increased stability, but there are concerns about the unique complications associated with these designs, as well as the long-term survivorship. Materials and Methods We performed a systematic review of all English language articles dealing with dual mobility THAs published between 2007 and 2016 in the MEDLINE and Embase electronic databases. A total of 54 articles met inclusion criteria for the final analysis of primary and revision dual mobility THAs and dual mobility THAs used in the treatment of fractures of the femoral neck. We analysed the survivorship and rates of aseptic loosening and of intraprosthetic and extra-articular dislocation. Results For the 10 783 primary dual mobility THAs, the incidence of aseptic loosening was 1.3% (142 hips); the rate of intraprosthetic dislocation was 1.1% (122 hips) and the incidence of extra-articular dislocation was 0.46% (41 hips). The overall survivorship of the acetabular component and the dual mobility components was 98.0%, with all-cause revision as the endpoint at a mean follow-up of 8.5 years (2 to 16.5). For the 3008 revision dual mobility THAs, the rate of aseptic acetabular loosening was 1.4% (29 hips); the rate of intraprosthetic dislocation was 0.3% (eight hips) and the rate of extra-articular dislocation was 2.2% (67 hips). The survivorship of the acatabular and dual mobility components was 96.6% at a mean of 5.4 years (2 to 8). For the 554 dual mobility THAs which were undertaken in patients with a fracture of the femoral neck, the rate of intraprosthetic dislocation was 0.18% (one hip), the rate of extra-articular dislocation was 2.3% (13 hips) and there was one aseptic loosening. The survivorship was 97.8% at a mean of 1.3 years (0.75 to 2). Conclusion Dual mobility articulations are a viable alternative to traditional bearing surfaces, with low rates of instability and good overall survivorship in primary and revision THAs, and in those undertaken in patients with a fracture of the femoral neck. The incidence of intraprosthetic dislocation is low and limited mainly to earlier designs. High-quality, prospective, comparative studies are needed to evaluate further the use of dual mobility components in THA. Cite this article: Bone Joint J 2018;100-B:11–19.

SummaryAn eight-year-old male English Setter was referred for management of a dislocation of a cemented dual mobility canine total hip prosthesis that occurred four months after the initial surgery. Revision surgery showed that the dislocation was associated with fracture of the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene liner. The dislocation was successfully reduced after replacing the liner. A dual mobility acetabular component is composed of a mobile polyethylene liner inside a metallic cemented cup. Chronic wear of the components of a canine dual mobility total hip replacement has not been described previously. The use of this type of implant is fairly recent and limited long term follow-up of the implanted cases may be the explanation. Acute rupture of a polyethylene liner has never been described in humans, the only case of rupture of a polyethylene liner occurred 10 years after implantation. The case presented here of rupture of the polyethylene liner of a dual mobility total hip replacement is a hitherto unreported failure mode in this model of acetabular cup in the dog.
