Concu pour accroitre l'efficacite des organisations, mieux utiliser leurs ressources notamment sociales et cognitives, mettre en synergie des equipes geographiquement distantes, le travail cooperatif mediatise par les technologies de l'information et de la communication ou t. I. C (multimedia, reseaux. . . ), vise plus precisement a produire davantage d'informations, a mieux les traiter et si possiblea construire des connaissances communes. Cette mediatisation modifie par la-meme les conditions de realisation de l'activite de groupe. La mise en oeuvre et la realisation du travail ne dependent plus alors du seul groupe, mais egalement, pour partie, du media employe des lors qu'il necessite, a minima, une organisation particuliere. Pourtant, ce qui est ici en jeu n'est pas tant le choix pertinent d'un systeme collaboratif pour effectuer un travail, mais plutot l'adequation reussie entre la volonte des organisations et les voeux des acteurs concernant la mise en place de nouvelles formes d'activite liees a un (ou des) changement(s) technologiques(s). La reflexion porte ici sur les dimensions {sociologiques et communicationnelles du probleme. On se situe au coeur du probleme de l'emergence d'un eventuel changement de mode de travail en lien avec la mise en oeuvre et l'appropriation d'une nouvelle pratique technologique.

Both as leader and employee you need a perception of the organisational identity. The purpose of this thesis is to identify leaders’ perception of using communication to develop and implement the organisational identity with the employees and also to identify how the internal work with the organisational identity can contribute in making the employees good ambassadors for the organisation. Data has been gathered through qualitative interviews with four leaders at a future large organisation. By connecting and analysing the empirical findings with relevant theories we came to the conclusion that the leaders’ percept the communication as vital and that they consider creating the foundation of the organisational identity as their responsibility. They value co-creation and an open communication with the employees. We make the conclusion that ongoing communication is essential for including employees in the development of the organisational identity and in making these good ambassadors.

Sammanfattning Syftet med studien är att beskriva och analysera, samt bidra med ökad kunskap om, hur olika kommunikationsfaktorer inom en organisation kan främja lärande. Mer precist är syftet att studera hur chef och medarbetare uppfattar vilka faktorer som påverkar digital och verbal kommunikation. Samt hur dessa faktorer kan påverka lärandet i organisationen. Studien är kvalitativ med en induktiv ingång och för att få empiri har intervjuer utförts på ett företag, med såväl chefer som medarbetare. Resultatet visar på att följande faktorer visade sig ha betydelse för kommunikation i organisationen; kombination och alternativ av kommunikationskanal; tydlighet; ansvar; riktlinjer och socialt samspel. I studien framkom även att det fanns en del störningsmoment gällande kommunikation. Vidare framkom under analysarbetet att följande kategorier inverkar på lärandet i organisationen; synen på att utvecklas; uppfattningen om att lära sig i arbetet; möjlighet att diskutera alternativa lösningar; att lära sig av sina kollegor; återkoppling; att lösa uppgifter i grupp; att lära av och med sina kollegor och socialt samspel.Studien finner att genom att beakta faktorerna som påverkar kommunikationen, kan många störningsmoment avvärjas och därmed kan tid frigöras. Denna tid är värdefull och kan användas på ett mer kreativt sätt, exempelvis till innovation och lärande. I studien visas också att organisationer behöver fokusera mer på socialt samspel och se till att medarbetarna kan mötas ofta och på ett otvunget sätt. När motiverade medarbetare möts i dialog kan de finna innovativa lösningar på problem, vilket kan leda till ett utvecklingsinriktat lärande i organisationen. Studien föreslår team eller förändringsarbete som lärstrategi.

This study approaches the study of organisational communication in the Australian public sector by focussing on the gendered nature of the organisation, and presenting results from the grass roots or 'native' level (Gregory, 1983). The theoretical framework of this study draws on a diverse range of philosophical viewpoints, ranging from organisational communication and culture approaches, sociological perspectives, public sector research, and uniquely Australian conceptualisations of gender within the public sphere. This study introduces a new way of conceiving feminist bureaucrats (femocrats), in terms of their relationships with 'natives' within public sector organisations. Difficulties in identifying a distinctly Australian organisational communication arena result from both the paucity of organisational communication, grass roots, and public sector research, and because of the problematic task of assimilating 'bits' of divergent theories, with often incompatible views to inform one comprehensive theoretical framework. The results of focus group and individual interviews suggest that a 'managerial' culture exists both within and externally to public sector organisations. This managerialism originates from within patriarchal and masculine organisational structures, and from a shift of workplace practices where a public service model has been replaced by a more private sector, bottom line, results orientation. While the 'natives' in this study are not representative of all public sector employees, their discourse provides a glimpse into the concerns of grass roots members of organisations, a view that is significant in its absence from organisational communication research, particularly in the Australian context.

Purpose/Aim: The aim of the study is to analyze and evaluate the communication between the management and the employees in the organization today and compare it with the organization's new strategy for internal communication. The questions asked are: 1) How is the communication between management and employees perceived by respective parties today and 2) What, if any, are the differences between the situation today as described in question 1 and the strategy for internal communication.

Material/Method: Qualitative research method. By interviewing four members of lower management and four employees, an analysis was made of how the communication between management and employees is perceived today. The results from the interviews were analyzed with the help of current theories within organizational communication, and the compared with the new strategy for internal communication.

Main results: While the results from the interviews had some similarities in relation to the importance of information of the organization's goals, they varied between the groups in respect to the degree of dialogue that was experienced. There were also differing results as to the communicational responsibilities of the employees; while the management saw that the employees had a crucial and very important communicational role, the employees themselves did not acknowledge it in any largersense.

L'auteur de cette these, officier de l'armee de terre, a essaye de demontrer comment l'outil audiovisuel a participe a l'enjeu des deux decennies, depuis le milieu des annees 1970 pour la defense nationale, a savoir l'evolution de l'institution dans ses structures, ses missions, ses contacts avec la societe mediatisee, partant d'un terrain defavorable. Il est demontre comment les armees et en particulier l'armee de terre ont su informer, mobiliser autour d'objectifs communs les acteurs internes et aussi se faire connaitre au sein de la societe "conquise par la communication". L'etude des produits audiovisuels, selon un corpus choisi dans des domaines varies, et celle des structures de communication, demontre cet effort et les resultats obtenus. Dans leur souci d'anticiper le changement, permettant de resorber les decalages ou les difficultes nouvelles, les armees, si elles ont accorde une place importante a la communication auciovisuelle, ne l'ont pas consideree comme le seul moyen d'action et d'evolution. Elles ont developpe de facon concrete la formation aux relations de commandement, aux pedagogies participatives, et a la technique de gestion des ressources humaines, introduisant par ailleurs la notion de qualite dans leurs objectifs
The author of this thesis, officier in the army, tried to demonstrate how the audiovisual means had contributed to the evolution of the intitution, in its structures, tasks and its place in the mediatized society, in spite of an unfavorable situation in the seventies. We can understand how the army had been able to inform, to educate and to unify different kind of personnals and also to be know in the society of communication. The study of audiovisual productions, in different fields and communication structures, shows how the work was realized and what where its results. To anticipate the evolution, in order to avoid misinterpretations and new difficulties, the army has considered, that audiovisual communication was not the only real means to evolute, but that pedagogical methods and human ressources management were able to obtain new results and better quality

Le groupe editorial que forme l'etat ne se resume pas a la documentation francaise, aux journaux officiels et a l'imprimerie nationale. Il s'agit d'un vaste ensemble, en extension avec le developpement recent des services de communication des ministeres, pouvant soutenir la comparaison, en termes de moyens, avec les plus grands editeurs et imprimeurs prives. Cette approche globale d'un etat editeur est peu usitee, y compris par l'etat lui-meme qui peine a diriger de maniere unitaire ses institutions specialisees. L'absence d'une veritable politique editoriale est patente et les mesures de coordination sont en retrait face aux logiques sectorielles de services et d'organismes qui privilegient des strategies separees. Les publications editees le sont sans qu'aucun catalogue general ne vienne en presenter l'etendue au public. La proliferation des periodiques, en particulier, demontre le dynamisme et la creativite d'une edition qui souffre neanmoins de l'instabilite chronique de ses nouveaux titres. Un classement fonde sur les caracteristiques discursives des contenus conduit a identifier trois familles de publications. La premiere, juridique, constitue la raison d'etre de l'etat editeur qui cree et publie le droit pour organiser et imposer son pouvoir de domination. This research examines the relationship between normative re-educative organisation development (OD), that of human values creation, shared meaning, and internal communication. Underpinning normative re-educative OD is the principle of individuals learning and developing new values (Chin & Benne, 1969; Szabla, Dardick, & Devlin, 2016). In this context, individuals make meaning (Bushe & Marshak, 2009), which is understood through sensemaking (Maitlis & Christianson, 2014; Weick, Sutcliffe, & Obstfeld, 2005). Internal communication is explained through the concept of relationship development (Men & Bowen, 2017; Welch & Jackson, 2007), where meaning is the action outcome (Weick & Browning, 1986). Effective internal communication is seen as a driver of performance relevant to an organisation’s success (Gay, Mahony, & Graves, 2005; Meng, 2014). Internal communication has been described as a simple sender, receiver, model (Jansson, 2013; Lasswell, 1948), a process (Clark & Seward, 2000) and more recently as a relationship (Men & Bowen, 2017). In this research, the lens of normative reeducative OD is applied to communication theory to enhance the depth and meaning of internal communication. The strategies of normative re-educative OD enable individuals to effectively work together through the creation of shared values (Chin & Benne, 1969). By pursuing this approach in organisations, meaning is improved, which is discussed from the perspective of sensemaking (Weick, 1995), where internal communication shifts from being a process to having relational qualities. To investigate internal communication managers’ understanding of the above, a hermeneutic phenomenological approach was utilised (Crowther, Ironside, Spence, & Smythe, 2017; van Manen, 1997). Data were collected from 24 internal communication managers, which included stories about their work, semi-structured interviews, observations, and a review of secondary data including organisational documentation. Reflective journal notes made by the researcher finalised the data collection process. Data analysis used the constant comparison method (Dye, Schatz, Rosenberg, & Coleman, 2000; Strauss & Corbin, 1990) and the hermeneutic circle (Laverty, 2003), which enabled the discovery of the relationships between normative re-educative OD, meaning, and internal communication as meaning was revealed. The findings revealed that normative re-educative OD practices created and enhanced values and beliefs, developed trust-based and genuine relationships, and enabled personal growth and development through improved collaboration and participation. A stronger connection to the organisation was created, enabling the alignment of actions, behaviours, and communication. The implementation of valuesbased practices within the organisation led to enhanced meaning of internal communication. A limitation of this thesis is the non-engagement of management in their understanding of the role of internal communication. This highlights an opportunity to broaden the research in this area. A second area of research is to include a wider range of industries on a global scale to identify whether there are cultural limitations to the approach. The theoretical and practical outcomes included an understanding of the relationship between normative re-educative OD and shared values in leading to the enhancement of meaning. These findings change the way internal communication is managed and delivered in organisations. The action science aspects of normative reeducative OD provided learning processes, which lead to trust-based internal communication at individual and group levels; thus, influencing core values, beliefs, and operating assumptions. Reshaping the internal communication manager role to include an in depth understanding of theory and practice of OD will have an impact on organisational culture and performance. The influencing role of internal communication managers is also an aid in helping senior management to understand change management from a normative re-educative OD perspective. This research extends the understanding of the interplay between normative re-educative OD, meaning, and internal communication in organisational outcomes.

South Africa’s democratic political regime opened up a global operating environment, affecting all sectors of the economy including the nonprofit sector. Models of sustainability have become more important than ever, with an increased emphasis on management models in this sector. New information and communication technologies such as the Internet and especially website technology have produced a challenging need for communication management paradigms. Operating within a context of increasing uncertainty may lead to nonprofit organisations looking outside the boundaries of their own sector for new management models and ideas. Strategic integrated communication is a management idea rooted in private sector knowledge. More specifically, Niemann’s (2005) conceptual model for the implementation of strategic integrated communication has the potential to address the sustainability issue within the website arena. The present study evaluates the application of strategic integrated communication according to Niemann’s (2005) conceptual model, among a selection of South African nonprofit organisation websites. Lack of research regarding strategic integrated communication within the South African nonprofit sector was the main motivating factor for this study. The study also represents an attempt to empirically test Niemann’s (2005) normative model within a specific context, thus helping to assess the scientific validity of the model. An exploratory qualitative research design was employed, with evidence collected by means of a content analysis of nonprofit websites and an e-mail questionnaire intended for the most senior communication/marketing staff member of each organisation. From an external perspective, nonprofit websites display many of the elements of Niemann’s (2005) conceptual model. Yet, evidence about the internal communication management aspects of the same organisations indicates that essential elements of the model are absent. Copyright

This study investigates Industrial Theatre as an effective form of corporate communication against the backdrop of South Africa's unique situation that distinguishes it from other countries in the world. As the post-apartheid South African society is concerned with development and transformation of its workforce, particularly among those who have previously been disadvantaged, communication in organisations has become vitally important in achieving these goals as well as in increasing productivity. This study identifies four specific problems that relate to the effectiveness of communication within an organisation, namely the historical problem, the literacy problem, the credibility problem and the problem concerning the traditional adversarial relationship. Problems concerning the corporate media and the definition of the term "Industrial Theatre" are also treated. In this study, Industrial Theatre is equated with a form of corporate communication and thus has a public relations function within an organisation. It therefore needs to ground itself firmly within public relations theory and practice. It must be a deliberate, planned and sustained effort that establishes and maintains mutual understanding between the organisation and its internal and external stakeholders. The uniqueness of the South African environment necessitates a communication model that creates an enabling environment for effective corporate communication. The Mersham graphic communication model for development as used in this study achieves this by contextualising both the communicators and the recipients firmly within their own sociocultural and autobiographical circumstances. The Mersham model is ideally suited to the Industrial Theatre context, as it also advocates that communicators and recipients should exchange roles, thereby enabling effective communication on a continuous basis. The current trends in corporate communication encourage transparency and "ownership". All the stakeholders of an organisation are encouraged to interact and to participate in the management of their organisation, hence achieving a sense of "ownership". The key to this entire process is negotiation. As this study contends that any theatrical process used as a communication tool should have negotiation as its main constituent, it was necessary to create a dramaturgy that incorporates negotiation into all its facets in order to serve the purposes of the thesis. The Negotiated Dramaturgy thus created has three distinct parts. The first consists of the pre-production forums in which the stakeholders discuss issues that create objectives for the dramaturgy to achieve. The second section contains the dramaturgy that enacts the objectives through story lines created by the stakeholders and analyses the results through the in-role forums. The third section evaluates the effectiveness of the process. This approach to Industrial Theatre ensures that all stakeholders are involved in the entire process from beginning to end. They, therefore, have total "ownership" of the process, which is characterised by transparency.

Cette thèse vise à examiner les formes de l'action collective et de l'être-avec tendanciellement imposées par l'hégémonie du crowdsourcing. La notion de crowdsourcing désigne l'appropriation des mécanismes collaboratifs du web 2.0 par des secteurs d'activité originellement étrangers à son influence : design de vêtements, conceptionde biens durables, ingénierie de véhicules, challenges sociaux, etc. Tandis que la plupart des travaux se penchant sur ce phénomène se tient au dedans d'un cadre conceptuel emprunté à l'économie politique, cette recherche s'efforce plutôt d'examiner la spécificité des régimes organisationnels et interactionnels propres à cesplateformes : ce sont ainsi les processus de subjectivation individuelle et collective qu'informent ces dispositifs qui suscitent ici l'intérêt de la recherche.Cette réflexion s'articule autour de cinq axes d’analyse distincts. Un axe économique d’abord, visant à re-situer l’actuelle hégémonie de ces dispositifs au plus près des dynamiques de long terme du capital. Un axe organisationnel ensuite, examinant l’inclination de ces plateformes à suspendre la félicité de l’action collective à la fluidité, la multiplicité et l’hétérogénéité des contributions qu’elles coordonnent. Un axe technique encore, s’efforçant d’analyser les procédés équipant cette coordination depuis la condition de fluidité, de multiplicité etd’hétérogénéité que lui assignent ces dispositifs. Un axe interactionnel ensuite, analysant les agencements d’énonciation ainsi articulés par ces procédés techniques et impersonnels de coordination. The aim of this thesis is to examine the underlying forms of collective action and beingwith imposed by the hegemony of crowdsourcing. The concept of crowdsourcing refers to the appropriation of collaborative mechanisms of Web 2.0 by industries that are originally outside it’s influence: fashion design, conception ofdurable goods, automotive engineering, social challenges, etc. While most studies addressing this phenomenon draw their conceptual framework from the domain of political economy, this thesis will on the contrary endeavour to study the particularities of the organizational and interactional regimes specific to crowdsourcing platforms. It is thus the processes of individual and collective subjectivation that are given form by these platforms that arouse interest for such research.This study is articulated around five distinct lines of research. The first line is economic; the goal is to situate the present dominance of crowdsourcing apparatuses in close relation to the long term dynamic of capital. The second line is organizational; it aims to examine the inclination of such platforms to condition the felicity of collective action by the fluidity, the multiplicity and the heterogeneity of the contributions they coordinate. The third line is technical; it seeks to analyse the processes that enables coordination under the condition of fluidity, multiplicity and heterogeneity that are allotted to these platforms. The fourth line is interactional, it analyses the assemblages of enunciation that are articulated by these technical and impersonal processes of absencecoordination. The fifth and final line is existential, it will examine the individual and collective (de)subjectivation processes to which these assemblages expose their users.Each of these research lines is developed on a serial ethnographic analysis of various platforms - namely Yelp, TripAdvisor, OpenIDEO, Local Motors and Quirky - in order to break down the specificities of each of these platforms into the repetition of organizational, technical, interactional, enunciative and existential patterns

Adaptive capacity is essential for organisations to be able to adapt to the sustainability challenge, and change its course. Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is an interpersonal communication tool that enables a user to move from a language of judgements to a language of needs by using 4 steps: observation, feelings, needs, and request. As communication is essential to the adaptive capacity of a social system, this thesis explores the question: How does Nonviolent Communication support the adaptive capacity of organisations? Through a mixed methods approach (semi-structured interviews and surveys with NVC trainers, organisational representatives and employees), the effects of NVC on communication in 3 sample organisations in the Netherlands (a school, NGO and research institute), is explored. Quantitative survey results show that NVC has a positive to very positive effect on common organisational communication dynamics. Qualitative data supports this finding and shows that NVC brings positive effects of increased understanding, listening, and progress in work related issues through an increased awareness of one’s own and other’s needs and feelings. When linking these results to adaptive capacity of organisations, it is concluded that NVC directly supports the adaptive capacity elements of trust, diversity and learning, and indirectly supports common meaning and self-organisation.

The rationale that effective internal communication plays a crucial role in aligning employees to organisational goals, and in so doing, inculcate employee engagement and help an organisation to succeed, is remodelling internal communication management within organisations. At the core of the preceding rationale lies the fundamental realisation and acknowledgement that effective internal communication is not the function of the communication department, but in effect a basic prerequisite that must be understood, embraced and practiced by all levels of management. Managers without effective internal communication and employee engagement cannot execute the responsibility of strategic alignment. The challenge is now to ensure that the internal communication process is approached as a properly structured and efficiently managed system, rather than a collection of fragmented messages that often cause confusion among employees and compel disengagement. This study explores to what extent the senior managers at the North-West University understand their fundamental role in facilitating effective internal communication and employee engagement. An extensive literature study revealed that there is a correlation between effective internal communication and understanding of organisational strategy and objectives among employees. In addition, a strong correlation between effective internal communication, employee engagement, employee performance and organisational profitability has been identified in literature. The empirical findings were obtained by means of a qualitative research method in the form of semi-structured interviews with senior and middle managers. The semi-structured interviews explored and described how the managers perceive the nature of their role in facilitating and sustaining effective internal communication and employee engagement. In comparing the actual role of senior managers at the University in internal communication and employee engagement with the ideal state related to D'Aprix's (1996) manager's communication model, as well as the principles of a convergence model of communication, information richness of communication channels, a leadership communication framework and the impact of highest scoring manager activities and attributes, it was concluded that this communication role is still misunderstood by senior managers and not properly structured and executed. Consequently, internal communication is not adequately fulfilling its strategic potential as a means to establish positive relationships, diffuse information, motivate, and align employees' actions and behaviour to the set goals of the University. It is suggested that future studies measure and determine whether the engagement levels of employees at the North-West University have increased as a result of managers fulfilling their internal communication role effectively. Another study could also assess and measure the effectiveness of internal communication channels, with the view to develop an internal communication channel guide or toolkit for managers at the North-West University. The key drivers of employee engagement and related effect on the North-West University's performance could also be explored and measured in future research studies.

To date, limited means of accurately measuring the communal organisational public relationships between an organisation and its various publics have been developed. Researchers and practitioners have acknowledged the need for a more accurate measurement tool. Previous analysis of communal relationships has typically been done in an anecdotal or non-quantifiable way. This study explores a new method of quantifying the relationship between an organisation and its publics and identifies the key themes and components that are important to a successful organisation-public relationship (OPR); this method allows organisations to more accurately measure their OPRs, diagnose their strengths and weaknesses and quantify changes in the relationships over time. In so doing, organisations will be able to improve their relationships with their stakeholders and work more effectively to achieve mutually beneficial goals. The study's findings contribute to defining the components that can be used to develop a tool that can be used by the public relations profession to more accurately reflect the status of communal relationships, and, perhaps more importantly, the changes in the status of the relationships over time. Increased objectivity in reflecting the status of the relationships between an organisation and its publics is likely to enable the profession to elevate its perceived status by providing a better service to organisations and their publics. This, in turn, will allow senior management teams to see clearly the value that public relations can provide to maximise the success of the organisation. The data obtained from this research provide insights into the priorities and expectations that external stakeholder groups have of organisations and how these expectations can be grouped into three key areas - how they are treated, the value that the relationships represent to them and how effective the communication is. The results provide practitioners with a valuable insight into ways of improving these OPRs, which in turn could assist organisations in achieving their goals.

Les mutations récentes dans l'organisation interne des entreprises se font dans le sens d'entreprises en réseau où des unités autonomes et interdépendantes jouent un rôle clé dans la cohésion. Cette thèse vise à comprendre comment est assurée la cohésion des entreprises en réseau. La métaphore du réseau n'est toutefois pas suffisante pour rendre compte de la multitude des formes que recouvre ce terme. Une réflexion sur la notion de configuration et sur les approches institutionnelles nous incite à utiliser le concept de modes d'organisations qui assurent la cohésion d'institutions diverses. Quatre modes d'organisation peuvent être identifiés : le marché, la bureaucratie, le clan et le réseau. L'évolution récente vers l'entreprise en réseau peut alors s'interpréter comme une importance croissante donnée au réseau en tant que mode d'organisation plutôt que comme l'émergence d'une configuration modèle. Afin de mieux cerner les dimensions sur lesquelles repose, dans l'entreprise, l'organisation par le réseau, il est apparu nécessaire de se situer à deux niveaux de structure : les structures observées et les structures inter-individuelles. Cet impératif impliquait d'utiliser une méthodologie mixte reposant à la fois sur la conduite d'entretiens en profondeur et sur l'utilisation de l'analyse des réseaux sociaux. L'analyse de plusieurs unités périphériques dans quatre entreprises a permis de dégager seize dimensions qui sous-tendent l'organisation par le réseau. La logique de combinaison entre les modes d'organisation a également été analysée. L'organisation par le réseau se trouve renforcée par un recours modéré aux autres modes d'organisation. Dans cette voie, une réflexion sur le rôle du centre montre que celui-ci est important dans l'organisation par le réseau. Le centre crée les structures nécessaires, il contribue à la dynamique du réseau tout en conservant des domaines réservés
The recent evolution in internal corporate organization is oriented towards a network organization in which autonomous and interdependant sub-units play a key role in the cohesion. The objective of this dissertation is to contribute to a better understanding of the cohesion of the network organization. The metaphoric use of the network is not really helpful to give a fair understanding of what the network encovers. A reflexion on organizational configurations and on institutional approaches leads to the introduction of the concept of organizational modes that can ensure the cohesion of diverse institutions. Four organizational modes can be identified: the market, the bureaucracy, the clan and the network. The recent evolution of firms towards a network organization can thus be interpreted as the effect of a more important role being played by the network as an organizational mode rather than as the emergence of a new ideal configuration. In order to better circumscript the main dimensions on which the corporate network organizing relies, it is necessary to combine two levels of analysis: the observed and the interindividual levels of structure. This imperative implies to use a mixt methodology that relies on both in-depth interviews and social network analysis. The study of several peripherical units in four firms leads to the identification of sixteen dimenssions underlying network organizing. The combination logics between the network and other organizational modes has also been analysed. Network organizing is strengthen by a moderate use of other organizational modes. In the same vein, a relexion on the center's role shows that the center can contribute to netwok organizing. The center creates the necessary structures and it contributes to the netwok dynamics

The concept of Strategic Communication has been gaining ground in the organisational world, namely in the financial and banking industry. Companies can no longer sustain a simply tactical communication function and turn to a more strategic approach, in order to properly manage the organisation’s identity, Image and reputation, to increase employees’ identification and to help them in pursuing its mission. This report aims at providing an overview of traineeship carried out at the Marketing and Communications department of BNP Paribas Securities Services in Lisbon, highlighting the challenges faced and the solutions adopted. Taking into account that the organisation is a recent one, and built upon a non-traditional business model, the report looks into the emergence and evolution of the communication processes over the implementation of the organisation, while stressing the need for a more strategic approach to communication. After an analysis of the current situation and employees’ perception of communication phenomena within the organisation, this report pin points the areas that need closer attention in terms of communication, in order for the organisation to become increasingly more coherent and purposeful. Finally, it summarises a learning experience and unveils the path travelled by a changing organisation towards building and implementing a Strategic Communication function.

Cependant, si nous utilisons une conception réaliste du temps, c'est-à-dire irréversible, alors l'émergence des organisations devient un phénomène difficilement explicable. Réfléchir en temps irréversible revient à intégrer l'indétermination du futur. Cette recherche propose une théorie de l'émergence organisationnelle en temps irréversible à partir de la théorie du don de Mauss. Cette théorie présente l'émergence organisationnelle comme un processus de dons/contre-dons mené par l'individu, celui-ci étant obligé de s'engager en donnant des ressources aux différents protagonistes afin de faire émerger l'organisation
There is a conception widely used in management: the newtonian conception of reversible time, in which time is perceived in a linear manner. Within such a perspective, the question of organization emergence is not a problem, because the past and the present provide us enough elements for deciding. However, if we adopt a realistic conception of time, i. E. An irreversible conception, then the question of emergence poses a real problem. Reasoning in irreversible time amounts to introducing the indeterminate nature of the future. This research puts forward a theory of the emergence of organizations that incorporates the irreversible nature of time: the gift theory developed by Mauss. This theory presents the emergence of the organization as a gifts process driven by the individual who is actually obliged to commit himself by giving resources to the various protagonists in order to make the organization emerge

La thèse porte sur les pratiques créatives à l'œuvre dans certains groupes altermondialistes, à la lumière d'un rapport entre discours et action qui se transforme au cours de l'histoire de ces mouvements. Au cours de leur brève existence, les mouvements altermondialistes ont connu une croissance rapide, mais ont été confrontés à des problèmes qui les ont fait entrer en crise. On examine les conditions et les contraintes pesant sur cette créativité dans trois sphères d'exercice: le discours, les structures organisationnelles et l'action directe. Le rapport au discours politique des altermondialistes se situe d'emblée en tension avec d'autres discours anti-mondialisation. Sur le plan organisationnel, les mouvements mettent volontiers en avant leur spécificité, en s'appuyant sur une éthique du pluralisme politique qui conduit à considérer comme un atout la diversité interne des positions politiques. Pour eux, l'action directe apparaît comme conjuguant l'efficacité à une définition de la protestation plurielle, ouverte et démocratique. De fait, cette définition de l'action directe pose immédiatement des problèmes et occasionne des tensions internes
The dissertation studies creative practices within certain alter-globalization movements in a context marked by a changing relationship between discourse and action. During their brief history, alter-globalization movements have grown rapidly but they have met with some challenges which prompted their crisis. The aim is to examine the conditions and the constraints which shape this creativity in three realms: discourse, organizational structures and direct action. The movements' relation to discourse is marked by a tension with other anti-discrimination discourses. On the organizational level, the movements are keen on emphasizing their specificity by drawing on an ethics of political pluralism which leads them to consider the internaI diversity of political orientations as a strength. For them, direct action appears to conjugate efficiency with a plural, open and democratic form of protest. However, this definition meets with problems and leads to internaI tension

Background: The knowledge-based theory proposes that knowledge and how it is managed is an important factor for determining the competitiveness of corporations. Project-based organisations are often put forward as a fast and flexible way of managing knowledge. The prioritizing between different tasks and projects in such organisations is to a large extent done by the individuals. In addition, electronic communication technology enables large amounts of information to travel far and fast. The bounded rationality of the human brain, the flood of information and the multitude of tasks pose a big challenge for project-based organisations. Communication is crucial for efficient project work and given this background it is interesting to examine how individuals in project-based organisations use different communication channels.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore individual communication behaviour in a project-based organisation and from these understandings create a practical framework for discussing and actively managing project communication.

Research method: The gathering of empirical data was done through a case study of the Converting Standard Line Project – TBA at Tetra Pak Carton Ambient in Lund. The case study consisted of observations and 20 qualitative interviews conducted with the project members, the project manager and representatives from senior management.

Results: The choice of communication channel was governed by the relative relation between individual gain and individual attention cost and high social presence media such as face-to-face interaction were more preferred than suggested by existing theories. Moreover e-mail had characteristics that made it more than a communication channel and therefore more popular than suggested by existing theories. Finally the study proposes a project communication framework that can be used as a platform for active management of project communication and thereby enabling a more efficient use of the limited attention budget of each individual.

Contrairement aux oiseaux et aux cétacés, les cris des primates seraient innés et peu flexibles. Nous avons mis en place une étude dynamique de l'organisation sociale et de la communication vocale dans un groupe captif de mones de Campbell. Les échanges sociaux étaient essentiellement pacifiques et les partenaires préférentiels étaient le plus souvent apparentés. A partir d'enregistrements télémétriques, un répertoire vocal complexe a été décrit. Nous avons observé une variabilité structurale en fonction du sexe, de l'âge, de la lignée et de l'identité de l'émetteur. L'analyse du contexte a révélé que certains types vocaux pouvaient véhiculer des informations sur la nature du danger et la situation sociale. En comparant les modulations de fréquence, nous avons observé l'existence de variantes dans le répertoire des femelles, partagées ou non avec les congénères. Les répertoires et le partage varient au cours du temps et semblent refléter le niveau de stabilité sociale du groupe.

Large scale companies have massive information flows in their administrative

departments. This often creates problems when there is a lack of communication both

internally and with internal partners such as sales units.

Sandvik SMT Market Service (SBMS) is no exception in this case. They got big

problems with their communication with the sales units especially when it concerns the

mail traffic and routing of information. Today SBMS have three regional mailboxes

where the SU’s (Sales Unit) send their mails depending on which region they belong to.

This structure does not function as intended and creates an overload which leads to long

response times.

Therefore the market service manager Jonas Hofvenstam wanted us to investigate this

problem area with the possibility of segmenting the mailboxes including a tagging system

and to perform a review of the sales tools portal in order to shorten the response times

and decrease the mail traffic.

The outcome of this paper was suggestions/proposals regarding how to structure the

common mailboxes, illustration of a tagging system for the mails and suggestions of how

to improve the sales tools portal. We also made recommendations on how to take these

suggestions into action including step by step instructions to make it easier when

performing an implementation.

My conclusion is that the Cell Church is at the early stage of changing from a movement to an organisation.

The use of mobile and wireless Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in geographically distributed project organizations appears to be an appropriate application of new technical capabilities in an existing business environment. But to successfully introduce and adopt a suitable mobile ICT-based project communication platform in an existing operational setting involves a complex framework of socio-technical issues that have to be considered.

This Licentiate thesis presents the results of an ongoing doctoral research project. The study explores the implementation process of mobile computing tools at Sweden’s largest construction company, with the aim of improving information management and project communication of production site operations in construction projects. The research project highlights the interdependencies between the creation of usefulness and its resulting benefits. It emphasizes user-oriented implementation as the enabling process for realizing technology fit and user acceptance of the mobile computing tools, as well as achieving long-term benefit and business value of the ICT investment.

The studied case specifically addresses the neglected mobile and flexible information needs and communication demands of management staff at construction sites. The fundamental issue is to identify what the usefulness perspective of mobile computing for construction operations consists of relating to both technology and the different groups of people who are supposed to use it. Generic access, mobility of project data and individual adaptation of information and communication resources are technological aspects that are emphasized and discussed in the context of creating usefulness and benefit of mobile computing in construction projects. The often present political dimension of ICT implementation within an organization is also highlighted. The socio-technical introduction and adoption process of mobile computing involves balancing various perspectives and agendas inherent on different organizational levels in order to achieve an acceptable outcome for all the actors involved.

Topics for further research are discussed and refined relating to the ongoing case study and the conceptual framework presented.

This study examined perceptual and cognitive structures that children employ when listening to musical pitches. A number of experiments utilised reaction time as the dependent variable to identify perceptually salient factors in musical pitch perception, particularly the cognitive organisation of musical pitch in a tonal context. A chronometrically measured forced-choice paired—comparisons experimental paradigm was used with children between the ages of six and eleven, with the discrimination of same and different notes in context-free and various contextual presentations tested by a computer—driven environment. Significant correlations suggest that the recognition of same and different notes in both context-free and contextual presentations was progressively facilitated, with responses exhibiting fewer errors and decreasing reaction times with increasing age. Although no significant difference was observed in mean correct reaction times between uncontextualised same and different conditions, significant differences in reaction times were observed within each condition when suffix notes were each contextualised by a major triad prefix. Furthermore, while no significant correlation was observed between same and different notes in context-free presentation, the subsequent contextualisation by a major triad prefix to each comparison suffix note produced a significant positive correlation suggesting that the contextualisation effects were systematic. A further experiment using a diminished triad prefix confirmed that the tonal specificity of the stimuli was related to the observed reaction times, with significant differences in correct reaction times for those stimuli which differed in the tonal range of their constituent pitches in relation to the circle of fifths. The observed differences in the reaction time of responses were interpreted as differential measures of the internalisation of musical pitches to a cognitive structure such as a tonal schema. The hypothesis that perceptual facilitation of the coding of redundancy within such a recognised and practised cognitive structure such as tonality was supported for children of this age.

Communication is something that all individuals depend on and has a major impact on employee job satisfaction. When it comes down to communication, it is one of the most important things that connects people. Without communication companies can't function properly, but through its use there can be a motivating effect for the company’s employees. Even though a large part of the working day consists of conversing, within a company this can often be difficult to manage. An organization uses several different internal communication channels, such as Face-to-Face, computers, phones and TV. There are several ways that these internal channels of communication can move through the company. It can be from the managers of the company to employee, referred to as downward communication. It can also move from employee to manager, this is referred as upward communication and there is internal conversing between two employees which is called horizontally oriented communication. The employee's job satisfaction is very individual and there are different things that can affect one's happiness at work. The way in which employee satisfaction can be measured by one famous researcher's two-factor theory. Herzberg reported this theory for the first time in the mid-20th century and it has influenced several types of organizations around the world. The theory that two types of factors affects an employee's satisfaction, are hygiene factors and motivational factors. The factors that affects a person is individual, nevertheless there are some factors that are in the forefront during this research and they are relatively similar to all research subjects. There were nine subjects, who have participated in this qualitative study, they come from the same public organization but they come from different departments. Their answers came from semi-structured interviews, where all research subjects will be completely anonymous. Within the answers there is one factor that is significantly more influenced that addresses both internal communication and job satisfaction.
Kommunikation är något som alla individer är beroende av och det är kommunikation som knyter oss samman. Organisationer kan inte klara sig utan kommunikation och kommunikation kan ha en motiverande effekt för en organisations medarbetare. Kommunikation inom den offentliga organisationen kan vara svår att hantera även om större delar av arbetsdagen består av kommunikation. En organisation kan använda flera olika interna kommunikationskanaler exempelvis personliga kontakter, datorer, telefoner och tv. Det finns flera vägar som den interna kommunikationen kan röra sig via, det kan var från chef till medarbetare (nedåtriktad). Den kan även röra sig från medarbetare till chef (uppåtriktad) och det finns intern kommunikation som rör sig mellan medarbetarna, vilket kallas för horisontell kommunikation. Medarbetarnas arbetstillfredsställelse är individuell och finns olika faktorer som kan påverka arbetstillfredsställelsen. Medarbetarnas arbetstillfredsställelse kan mätas med hjälp av Herzberg tvåfaktorsteori. Herzberg redovisade sin teori i mitten av 1900-talet och den har påverkat flera typer av organisationer runt om i världen. Teorin har två typer av faktorer som kan påverka medarbetarnas arbetstillfredsställelse, dessa faktorer är hygien- och motivationsfaktorer. Den faktor som påverkar individen mest är som sagt individuell, men det finns några faktorer som står i framkant under denna undersökning och är relativt lika hos alla respondenter. Nio respondenter har deltagit i denna kvalitativa undersökning, de kommer från samma offentliga organisation men från olika avdelningar. Svaren arbetades fram genom semistrukturerade intervjuer där alla respondenter är helt anonyma. Inom svaren finns det en faktor som är betydligt mer påverkade som behandlar både intern kommunikation och arbetstillfredsställelse.

Sur l’oeuvre politique et pédagogique de Danilo Dolci il y a un grand silence aujourd’hui. Bien que ses initiatives politiques, sa passion pour les problèmes de l’éducation, ses ouvrages et articles l’aient fait connaître partout et lui aient procuré de nombreuses reconnaissances et prix nationaux et internationaux, bien que sa pensée et son engagement aient contribué à structurer des processus collectifs particulièrement innovants lors de la première République italienne - celle-ci correspondant à la période entre 1948 et 1994 -, son œuvre reste assez peu reconnue.Pourtant, dès sa jeunesse, Dolci s’est consacré à l’éducation de base dans le but de mobiliser et émanciper les couches les plus pauvres dans un des territoires les plus sinistrées de l’Italie : la Sicile. Mais il s’est confronté aussi avec de nombreuses situations en dehors de la Sicile, en Italie et à l’étranger, intervenant dans nombreux domaines, ce qui ne rend pas toujours facile la reconstruction de la cohérence de sa trajectoire et ses apports.Pour nous, l’oeuvre de Danilo Dolci est structurée par un certain nombre de convictions : le progrès d’une société dépend d’un ensemble de facteurs matériels et immatériels spécifiques qui, dans certains territoires, ne se développent pas, car d’autres facteurs opèrent en direction inverse. Dans ces territoires, il faut donc chercher à développer les facteurs nécessaires au progrès avec des méthodes différentes de celles qui sont utilisées dans les territoires où le progrès s’est imposé historiquement. Lorsque nous parlons de « progrès », nous entendons essentiellement un développement matériel et immatériel dans le sens d’une démocratie authentique, un processus où les principes, les valeurs, les règles et les procédures de la démocratie soient saisissables par le plus grand nombre possible de personnes, respectés et mis en actes par les citoyens tout autant que par les administrateurs. Or, Dolci paraît précisément proposer une pratique spécifique pour fortifier les pratiques démocratiques déjà existantes et, en même temps, pour mobiliser les populations les moins politisées afin qu’elles se les approprient, pour se mettre au niveau de ceux qui les utilisent d’habitude et pour lutter contre ceux qui agissent sans les respecter. Cette pratique est nommée par Dolci ‘maïeutique réciproque ou de groupe’. Nous avons cherché à savoir comment en est arrivé à concevoir cette méthode – qui fait de lui un authentique « pédagogue » - et comment peut favoriser l’émergence, la structuration et le développement des pratiques démocratiques.Pour cela, nous avons dessiné une « carte conceptuelle » de sa pensée, d’abord sur un plan diachronique et, ensuite, sur un plan synchronique, ce qui nous a amené à esquisser une présentation générale des rapports entre éducation et politique chez Dolci
Nowadays Danilo Dolci’s political and pedagogical work seems consigned to oblivion. Although his political initiatives, his passion for the problems of education, his books and articles have spread his fame around the world, leading him to obtain national and international rewards, although his ideas and engagement have contributed to build especially innovative collective processes during the First Italian Republic – that is, the period between 1948 and 1991 – his work remains not well known yet.However, since his youth, Dolci devoted himself to basic education, aiming at mobilising and emancipating the poorest classes in one of the most underdeveloped Italian regions: Sicily. But he also dealt with many issues outside Sicily, in Italy and abroad, operating in various contexts, which makes sometimes difficult to reconstruct the coherence of his trajectory and contributions.In our opinion, Dolci’s work is structured according to a number of convictions: the progress of the society depends on some specific material and immaterial factors that, in certain areas, don’t develop because other factors take place in the opposite direction. Therefore in these areas it is necessary to develop the essential factors for progress with methods that differ from those applied in the areas where the progress prevailed historically. When I talk of “progress” I basically mean a material and immaterial development toward a genuine democracy, a process whose principles, values, rules and procedures could be chosen by the biggest number of persons, and could be enacted and respected by both the citizens and the administrators. So Dolci seems exactly proposing a specific practice to enhance the already existing democratic practices and, at the same time, to mobilise the less politicised population groups and let them repossess those practices, joining the level of those who use them regularly and fighting those who don’t respect them. Dolci calls this practise “reciprocal or group maieutics”. I have tried to understand how he came to conceive of such a method – which makes him a real “pedagogue” – and how it can foster the emergence, the building and the development of democratic practices.This is the reason why I drew a “conceptual map” of his thought, first on a diachronic level and secondly on a synchronic level, which led me to outline a general presentation of the relationship between education and politics in Dolci

L'étude comparée, par la méthode bipolaire, de l'organisation du discours chez les sujets schizophrènes, adultes "normaux" et enfants "normaux" nous a permis de conclure que l'utilisation préférentielle de l'axe syntagmatique ou de l'axe paradigmatique désignait essentiellement une attitude mentale liée aux développements cognitif et affectif. L'étude de l'organisation du discours nous a permis de réfléchir sur quatre points essentiels : 1-les modalités de communication des sujets schizophrènes sont proches du mode communicationnel des sujets adultes, c'est-à-dire que les deux populations "sont syntagmatiques" (messages), contrairement à la communication des sujets enfants qui "est paradigmatique" (codes). 2-le mécanisme de la régression ne touche pas les "modalités cognitives de communication" chez les schizophrènes, mais il se joue au niveau de la "communication émotionnelle". 3-si la rétroaction n'est pas perturbée chez les schizophrènes, la "retro compréhension" empêche, en revanche, ces sujets de planifier leur intention communicative. Cette situation résulte, en outre, du mécanisme de l'identification projective et de l'incapacité de ces patients à construire l'opération assimilation accommodation : en effet, les schizophrènes ne reconnaissent l'autre que dans un espace de continuité de soi. 4-le problème de la communication chez ces sujets ne réside pas dans son processus, mais plutôt dans la gestion de l'intention communicative. Il nous semble que le schizophrène, qui est capable de se situer dans un contexte de communication, est par contre incapable d'instruire un "contrat d'interaction positif".

Purpose The purpose of this study was to gain a deeper understanding of how supervisor-employee communication affects the employee engagement on the shop floor of manufacturing organisations. To achieve this purpose, the two below research objectives were developed: To identify how supervisor-employee communication impacts employee engagement To identify any barriers to supervisor-employee communication Method The study had a deductive, qualitative research approach as a conceptual framework was developed from literature and then verified with empirical data collected through semi-structured interviews. The research strategy was holistic and single case as all eight interviews were conducted with respondents from a single organisation. The interviewees were selected using a maximum variation, purposive sampling technique. Lastly, the collected data was analysed using a form of thematic analysis. Findings The main finding was that supervisor-employee communication was proven to have a significant impact on the employee engagement among the shop floor workers in the manufacturing organisation. In addition, supervisor-employee communication was proven to affect the employee engagement in a similar way that literature suggested. Furthermore, the findings supported the definition of employee engagement as a shared responsibility between the employee and the supervisor. Theoretical implications This study provided additional data to the existing literature on supervisor-employee communication and employee engagement while investigating the relationship between these two concepts in a new setting. Not only did this study contribute with rather unique data from the manufacturing industry, but it also adopted the employee perspective of the phenomenon. Previous research has predominantly consisted of studies with the perspective of management rather than the employees. Therefore, this study offers a foundation upon which further, both qualitative and quantitative research within this area can be conducted. Practical implications The main practical implication that this study has offered is highlighting the importance of supervisor-employee communication when it comes to generating and maintaining employee engagement on the shop floor of manufacturing organisations. The supervisor’s role and way of communicating has been identified as crucial for the employees’ level of engagement and this study has provided some guidance for supervisors in this matter.

Dans le domaine des systèmes multiagents (SMA), la communication est très souvent considérée selon une approche dyadique et abstraite assez rigide. Cette thèse fait l'hypothèse qu'en s'inspirant de la communication humaine, il est profitable d'utiliser le phénomène de l'écoute flottante dans des systèmes multiagents afin de donner souplesse et robustesse à leur structure.
Pour aller dans ce sens, nous proposons le modèle en étoile. Il permet aux membres d'un SMA d'utiliser l'écoute flottante pour se structurer en groupes centrés sur des leaders afin de s'adapter aux conditions de communication limitées et dynamiques dont ils disposent. Ce modèle fournit un cadre dans lequel les agents peuvent évoluer et assure que si leurs décisions respectent certaines contraintes (notamment de cohérence) ils pourront tirer parti de tous les messages qu'ils pourront recevoir (même s'ils ne leur sont pas destinés) afin de se forger les croyances les plus cohérentes possibles sur l'organisation de l'équipe et ainsi faciliter son activité.
D'une part, nous développons plusieurs éléments utiles pour exploiter ce modèle en étoile (langage à la sémantique définie formellement, mécanisme de mise à jour et algorithme associé). D'autre part, deux séries d'expérimentations (OTTO et LOTTO) nous permettent d'étudier le comportement du modèle face aux variations de divers paramètres.

Elle explore d'abord les mutations dans l'espace entrepreneurial français depuis 1950, avec la naissance de l'entreprise moderne inspirée du modèle américain, et montre comment la notion de corporate culture a catalysé les savoirs managériaux. Elle témoigne de l'essor de l'histoire organisationnelle marqué par un véritable mouvement de théorisation dans le sillage, ou non, de la Busines History initialisée par Alfred D. Chandler. Elles explore les formes et les fonctions de la mémoire organisationnelle. Elle analyse l'écriture de l'histoire organsationnelle liée aux contraintes et aux possibilités de l'histoire d'entreprise. Elle dévoile le rapport existant entre l'histoire d'entreprise et la communication stratégique, en envisageant la dimension opérationnelle de l'histoire appliquée aux entreprises. This thesis reports the ascent in power of the practices of writing and of researches in business history. It investigates the alterations in French firms since 1950, with the birth of modern company inspired by the American model, and shows how the notion of corporate culture catalysed the manager knowledge. It testifies of development of organizational history marked a real movement of theorization in the trail, or not, of business history initialised by Alfred D. Chandler. It investigates the forms and the functions of the organizational memory. It analyses possibilities of business history. It reveals the existing report between history and the strategic communication, by envisaging the operational dimension of history applied to companies. It wonders if the historic dimension can constitute a communicational valid axis. This thesis questions also the standards and the rules of ground by wondering if one should take into account the document and the technical procedures within the framework of a historic analysis. Elle se focalise sur son élaboration quotidienne par une multitude d’agents organisationnels et analyse les stratégies personnelles de ceux qui y contribuent. L'analyse est fondée sur une observation participante effectuée pendant deux ans au sein du service Communication d’une organisation nommée Préventika. Les données recueillies ont donné lieu à une analyse mixte (thématique et longitudinale) des onze numéros du journal interne depuis sa création. Cette recherche contribue ainsi à poursuivre les travaux scientifiques sur l’agentivité textuelle initiés par les chercheurs de l'École de Montréal dans lesquels les textes du journal interne sont vus comme des agents organisationnels capables d’agir et de faire agir, à savoir d’agir sur l’organisation qui les produit et de faire agir l’organisation et ses membres
This research aims to better understand how organizational communication texts contribute to the setting of a strategic discourse and a textual agency by focusing on the process of elaboration of an in-house journal. Our main topics of interest are the personal strategies of those who contribute to the preparation of the in-house journal, the reasons for their day-to-day involvement and the change it brings to the working practice. Our approach is structured around participant observation within the Communication department of Préventika. Based on the data collected for a period of two years, we conduct a mixed methods analysis (thematic and longitudinal) of eleven editions of the in-house journal since its creation. This research contributes to the textual agency approach developed by The Montréal School of Organizational Communication in which the in-house journal texts are seen as agents able to act on and to make act on the organization and its members

Businesses of all shapes and sizes are embracing Social Media as an important marketing tool. Social Media provide many opportunities for non-profit organizations to increase their presence, impact, communication and efficiency. Many non-profit organizations lag behind in incorporating social media marketing into their daily operations. More than half of the non-profit organizations included in this study thought they could be more active on social media and declared they were in need of a social media strategy. Social media is challenging and establishes new hierarchies, cultures and responsibilities. Also, Social media demands time and interactive content which means you need to find new creative ways of looking at your organization’s communication. If no map is outlined for how social media marketing should be done how should the organization know how to coordinate in the world of digital marketing? This study therefore employed a content analysis of a non-profit organization’s social media marketing on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. The study also includes a survey of how 17 non- profit organizations are utilizing the potential of the social media technologies to carry out their programs and services. Together with a theoretical framework and an interview with a Social Media expert this revealed eight important parts that should be included in a social media strategy. The eight elements are visually presented in a conceptual model as well as put in practice as a strategy with concrete guidelines for the non-profit organization Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce-USA. This report is an examination of the development of a social media strategy for a non-profit organization which resulted in a strategy to help strengthen the organization's voice online and illuminate the organizations reliability and aim.

Since organisations are expanding geographically the need for global applications has become extensive. This work examines how a global support organisation should be organised, with respect to communication and technical aspects, when providing support for a global application to a user organisation. This work has been accomplished through a literature study and an interview study. The result from the investigation shows that a decentralised support organisation is superior to some extent. Specially when it comes to communication but both the literature and the respondents claim that communicating with people from different countries with different languages is something you get used to over time. It is however not superior to implement too many sites since it is expensive to have several support centres. The conclusions of this work are that the literature claims that decentralisation is the approach to have if the infrastructure is in place, the respondents however, believe that it is too expensive to decentralise too much.

Les TIC remettent en cause la définition traditionnellement établie de l'entreprise comme unité de temps, de lieu et d'équipe, et permettent aux entreprises de répondre à des objectifs de réactivité, d'efficacité et de productivité. Le rôle stratégique acquis par l'information et les technologies qui lui sont associées conduit d'une part, à l'éclatement territorial et temporel des entreprises et d'autre part à une nouvelle représentation de ces organisations productives. Le développement de l'utilisation des TIC dans les entreprises induit plusieurs transformations dont celles des relations de dépendances entre des entités juridiquement indépendantes, et celles de l'organisation interne des firmes. Par analogie aux circuits d'information, les firmes s'organisent selon une structure en réseau, représentée par un ensemble de lignes entrelacées. Анотація:

Dagligen kommer vi i kontakt med olika varumärken som alla har olika betydelse och med en uppgift att fylla. Avsikten med ett varumärke för en organisation är att ladda det med en egenskap som skapar ett värde för kunden och en kvalitet som får kunden att återkomma till just det varumärket gång på gång.

Istället för att använda varumärket som endast en del av marknadsföringsprocessen har det av många organisationer börjat användas mer och mer som en strategisk resurs för hela organisationen att på ett bättre sätt stärka sin konkurrenskraft och stärka skapa en stabil framtid.

På uppdrag av Handelskammaren Värmland var syftet att ta reda på, via en kvantitativ studie, vad Handelskammaren Värmlands medlemmar, icke-medlemmar och Värmlands politiker anser om organisationens varumärke och organisation. Studien genomfördes via en enkätundersökning i alla urvalsgrupper.

Resultatet av enkätundersökningen visar att det finns ett förtroende för Handelskammaren Värmland som näringslivsorganisation hos dess medlemsföretag och politikerna i Värmland. Undersökningen visar även att de företag som ses som potentiella medlemmar, icke-medlemmarna, har i dagsläget inte så stor erfarenhet eller kunskap om Handelskammaren Värmland.

Resultatet av undersökningen är ett hjälpmedel för Handelskammaren Värmland att få en uppfattning om hur omvärlden har för intryck av organisationen för att kunna utveckla ett framtida arbete mot dessa urvalsgrupper.
