Chapter 1 locates the origins of Ralph Ellison’s philosophy of temporality in the ideas of Henri Bergson and Friedrich Nietzsche, and reads Ellison’s debut novel Invisible Man in light of these observations. Anticipating the work of Gilles Deleuze, Ellison places Nietzsche’s concept of eternal recurrence into a Bergsonian context by combining Nietzsche’s arguments about history and immanence with Bergson’s claims about time and its fundamental creativity. The resulting philosophy prefigures Deleuze’s ideas about difference and repetition, or, the complex relationship between becoming and being. Because Invisible Man is the text where Ellison first fully articulates these concepts, this chapter treats the novel as a critical overture to Ellison’s corpus and the temporal and historical themes that recur throughout it. In the process, this chapter challenges long-held misconceptions about Ellison, including his debt to existentialism, his dedication to disorder, his commitment to surrealism, and his status as a modernist author.

This chapter explores the influence Abbas Kiarostami’s Five (2003) takes from the cinema of Ozu, theorizing the nature of the dedication in the subtitle: 5 Long Takes—Dedicated to Yasujiro Ozu. Such questions will be approached through the philosopher Gilles Deleuze and his two books on film, Cinema 1—The Movement-Image and Cinema 2—The Time-Image. Ozu is pivotal to Deleuze for being the first filmmaker to create “pure optical and sound situations,” to disrupt the codes of classical cinema (movement-image) and open a way to the modernist cinema (time-image). Such disruption and creation will be analyzed in one of Ozu’s most famous movies, Floating Weeds (Ukigusa, 1959). Deleuze believes later modernist filmmakers return to Ozu not by way of imitation but for inspiration, and using “their own methods.” Five may be a very different type of film, yet after Deleuze, Kiarostami’s method reveals its commitment to the Ozuesque.

The book “Education oriented principles and fundamentals 1 ST Edition, edited and published by South Florida Publishing, gathers five chapters that approach themes of relevance in the context of education and are available in Spanish. In the first chapter, a research is presented, whose objective is to provide the basis for a pro-student persistence model in higher education applicable in unfavorable socio-academic contexts. The second chapter presents a teaching model that is presented to design teaching as a basis for the use of cognitive strategies, and it is also necessary to establish different strategies to be able to pedagogically evaluate the performance of the student. The third chapter presents a search for a model for the assessment of competencies in basic education through a case study at the Los Pinos de Algeciras school. We are in the middle of the infant school. The fourth chapter, the importance of creating and dynamizing the narrative is supported by the promotion of emerging reading behaviors in day care centers. It is also intended to contribute to the reflection on the role of the educator / mediator in promoting an educational project that facilitates intervention in day care centers. The emerging literacy level. And finally, or the fifth chapter, as a novel educational experience, the application of the Flipped Classroom Model to the teaching of classical culture was drawn, highlighting the importance of the elaboration of interesting and motivating multimedia didactic materials for the students, supported by the use of the new technologies, to improve teaching practice by organizing work in the classroom in an active and participatory way. The book will feature, a study on establishing the development of literary transcendentalism and how it manifests itself between the islands of Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico from the years 1927 to the mid-1950s. Literary transcendentalism was a manifestation that contemplated various ideologies and positions among our Caribbean islands. Another study that will be discussed is the explanation of basic personality traits in a case of homicide perpetrated by a subject who exercised professional activity in the elite military field (he was a sniper specialized in special missions abroad), what are the repercussions or consequences juridical-juridical that led to the crime of (civil) homicide perpetrated by him and sentence handed down to that effect. The third chapter presents a search for a model for the assessment of competencies in basic education through a case study at the Los Pinos de Algeciras school. We are in the middle of the infant school. A survey will also be presented in a global company, located in Brazil, on how it is facing knowledge management and its dissemination, through corporate tools and by managers. It also aims to research market tools that can improve this management and make companies move towards a future within the plan, without significant loss of their intellectual capital and embedded knowledge, among other works. The book “Technologies impacts in exact sciences vol.01”, edited and published by South Florida Publishing, brings together six chapters that address topics of relevance in the context of the exact sciences, and the studies will be available in English and Spanish. The book will feature, a study on the response to harmonics of a spring-mass system: Quasi Resonance, an analysis of the response of such a system to harmonics, and, in particular, one in which Quasiresonance is present. Another study that will be discussed is a review of the problems of the analysis of autotransformer discrete alternating voltage regulators. Most often the discrete regulation of AC voltages is achieved by power electronic converters based on a transformer (autotransformer) and switching by the means of controllable semiconductor switches. The third chapter presents an analysis and comparison of the different projects participating in events of invention, innovation, and creativity, based on their characteristics of quality in use, functionality, and usability, through an external metric plan and quality in use. Research on the relationship between Fermat's Last Theorem (FLT) and optical solitons will also be presented. To find such a relationship, the main steps that led to the demonstration of the FLT were examined, starting from the Taniyama-Shimura conjecture, then looking at the contributions of Hellegouarch, Frey, and Ribet and, finally, Wiles' work 6492. Finally, the fifth chapter presents a study on the measurement of air quality in the Patzcuaro lake basin through the use of a perimeter monitoring network. On December 8, 1941, Grace Holmes Carlson, the only female defendant among eighteen Trotskyists convicted under the Smith Act, was sentenced to sixteen months in federal prison for advocating the violent overthrow of the government. After serving a year in Alderson prison, Carlson resumed organizing for the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) and ran for vice president of the United States under its banner in 1948. Then, in 1952, she abruptly left the SWP and returned to the Catholic Church. With the support of the Sisters of St. Joseph, who had educated her as a child, Carlson began a new life as a professor who now advocated for social justice as a Catholic Marxist. The Fierce Life of Grace Holmes Carlson: Catholic, Socialist, Feminist is a historical biography that examines Carlson’s story in the context of her times. Her experiences illuminate the workings of class identity within the context of various influences over the course of a lifespan. Her story contributes to recent historical scholarship exploring the importance of faith in workers’ lives and politics. And it uncovers both the possibilities and limitations for working-class and revolutionary Marxist women in the period between the first- and second-wave feminist movements. The long arc of Carlson’s life (1906–1992) reveals continuities in her political consciousness that transcended the shifts in her partisan commitments, most notably her lifelong dedication to challenging the root causes of social inequality. In that struggle Carlson proved herself to be a truly fierce woman.
