Ideation, research, and technological innovation are valuable when they lead to wealth creation. Commercialization is a way to tie science to economics and create wealth from innovation. Success in technology development and commercialization requires a combination of several factors, including creative thinking, appropriate technical knowledge, entrepreneurial thinking and spirit, and financial resources. But it is rare for a single person to have all of these characteristics. Therefore, the best way to successfully commercialize technology is to create a team of four different personalities with the above characteristics: These four personalities are inventor/innovator, investor, technology, and entrepreneur. This article examines the definitions and concepts of commercialization and points to social and economic factors in the commercialization process - from ideation to the development of success and growth. Then proposed the formation of an innovation team as one of the strategies for commercialization success and expresses the characteristics of the innovation team and its members and their role in different stages of commercialization. Finally, to achieve more and better achievements in the field of commercialization, suggestions are presented according to the existing conditions.

Introduction. In modern highly competitive, dynamic and unstable conditions enterprises are able to function successfully in the marketplace and occupy leadership positions in large part due to developing, implementation and realisation of innovations. A high level of an innovative activity of enterprises creates preconditions for forming new competitive benefits, an increase of investment attractiveness, broadens possibilities of passage to new marketplaces, is an impulse for providing a progressive development. As practice shows, only a small part of innovations transforms in goods and services and is successfully commercialized due to its promotion in interested groups of consumers. That's why the problem of commercialization of innovative goods and services should be in field of view of society, government, private business, scientists because decision of this problem improves a competitive ability of goods and finely a level of population's life. The purpose of paper is an exploration of commercialization properties of innovative goods and services in foreign countries, detection of reasons of low level of commercialization of innovative goods and services by domestic enterprises. Results. It is considered a domestic and a worldwide experience of commercialization of high-tech goods and services of industrial enterprises in the context of Asian, American and European models of innovative development. It is particularly set that there in the USA, Europe and Asia the key role in development and implementation of high-tech goods and services play multinational companies, which quite often create venture companies in their structures. Besides, it is set that a venture capital is often concentrated in science parks, technopoles, business incubators and other innovative structures. It is proved that in the process of commercialization of high-tech goods and services is a governmental support of state, first of all, from positions of longevity of preferences, which are offered to subjects of innovative structures. It's also set that such kind of commercialization is successful when local properties of demand for new goods and services are taken into account. Regarding a domestic experience of commercialization of innovative goods and services, they should state that it has a quite low development. Conclusion. In this way, generalisation of domestic and foreign experience of commercialization of innovative goods and services shows that directions and ways of such commercialization are different and can have a different shape that is defined by local historical circumstances, traditions and national innovative politics in general.

Topicality. The modern economy of the developed world powers is oriented on creation of conditions of favorable innovative type of development, attraction and use of innovations in economic activity, one of the main components of regulation of innovative activity of any country is the market of innovations. Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to study the current state and components of the market for innovative goods in Ukraine and their impact on the economy of the state. Research results. The main stages of the innovation process and their connection with the market system are considered in the article; the concept and components of the market for innovative goods are defined; the main indicators of innovation activity of Ukrainian enterprises are analyzed. The structure of the basic elements of the market of innovative goods is proposed and the main problems of formation and development of the market of innovations in the country are revealed. Conclusion. The formation of an innovation market is a complex, contradictory process, as an underdeveloped innovation market has a devastating effect on the competitiveness of innovation structures, the reduction of innovation activity and the efficiency of entrepreneurial activity. The development of the innovation market, on the one hand, seeks the entrepreneur to innovate, and on the other - creates fierce competition, technological unemployment, not always the ability to control the level of prices for innovative products, new problems of ecology, ergonomics, security, etc. The functioning and development of the market for innovative goods in Ukraine requires the formation of infrastructure of the market of innovations, increase the demand of industrial enterprises and business for the results of intellectual labor and research and development, and build a system of interconnection between educational institutions, science, scientific, technical, experimental and design activities and representatives of the real economy sector, in the future will increase the innovation activity of Ukrainian enterprises. Little attention is paid to the development and financing of science in the country; functioning of highly competitive development of the market of intellectual and innovative products requires interrelation between business and the state; it is necessary to create a favorable economic, legal and information environment for the development of an innovative market; it is necessary to support the development of innovative entrepreneurship by the state; it is necessary to improve the system of commercialization of the results of intellectual activity at all stages of the innovation process.

The research products produced by tertiary institutions are intellectual property that benefits the community and provide an economic contribution. Even Universities are encouraged to increase their research products’ economic value because innovation considers successful when commercialized. Higher Education is direct to produce innovative products with high added value so that these products can be beneficial to the community and commercialized. However, not all innovation results are successful or can be commercialized, although, in principles, the commercialization of research products is no different from standard products’ commercialization. This paper outlines various efforts undertaken by universities/polytechnics in Indonesia to increase research output commercialization. The purpose of interviews is to determine how universities respond to the challenges of expanding the commercialization of their research output. The participants were the heads of research institutes and community service from twenty-one (21) tertiary institutions in Indonesia, consisting of nine (9) universities and twelve (12) polytechnics. The finding shows that only a few university and polytechnic have commercialized their research products; however, most higher education keeps doing their best to increase their capability to commercialize their research products. This study’s two implications are: 1) researchers need to involve “user” needs before developing a research proposal. 2) Management at the university needs to facilitate the commercialization of the academicians’ research products.

The identification of the nature of intellectual entrepreneurship in institutions of higher education has enabled to justify its specific principles, map the key problems of intellectual entrepreneurship development in Ukrainian universities and outline the pathways to their solution. The paper offers a concept of innovative entrepreneurship in institutions of higher education based on commercialization of intellectual activity results (IAR) viewed as a separate type of activity aimed at creation and realization of the commercial potential of university R&D results which relies on its own principles and is ensured through specific instruments within the University's infrastructure and is implemented in unique organizational forms. To ensure the implementation of the suggested organizational and economic mechanism, the content, principles and objectives of infrastructural support for commercialization of intellectual activity results in institutions of higher education have been developed. The heart of the organizational model for commercialization of IAR in institutions of higher education is an engineering centre. A multi-project mechanism for managing the commercialization of IAR in institutions of higher education has also been proposed, the core of which is a permanent project office operating within the engineering centre with engaged cross-functional teams on commercialization and respective project organizational structures to promote the entry of innovative products based on advanced developments of institutions of higher education into the market. The use of the developed assessment criteria for evaluating the innovation and commercial potentials of intellectual activity results facilitates a reasonable selection of intellectual activity results for commercialization (subject to their innovative and commercial potential assessment) along with providing an objective comparison of IAR and innovative products by various criteria combinations to set the priorities and make rational decisions in the area of financing and resourcing which enhances the overall efficiency of innovation activities and intellectual entrepreneurship performance in institutions of higher education.

In article examines trends in the commercialization of innovation in forestry. It was found that the lack of incentives for the purchase of innovative products and technologies at the tenants of forest areas of the Russian Federation is a problem of late and defective reforestation. In the example of the Voronezh region shows characteristics of innovation processes in forest regenera-tion. In forestry, significantly different climatic risk and low investment attractiveness, the main motive for the acquisition of innovative technologies is the price.

The issue of efficiency of scientific and innovative activity in the conditions of Russia's transition to the knowledge economy is a priority for the state, businesses, scientific and educational organizations. Higher education institutions can become promising platforms for creating innovative products and technologies, as they have all the necessary components: long-standing academic schools; rich, sometimes unique, material and technical database; as well as teams of creative researchers from the scientific and pedagogical staff, talented graduates and postgraduates. According to the results of monitoring the efficiency of innovative activity of leading universities of Russia, as well as to the analysis of the main indicators of research activities of universities of the Southern Federal District, there have been revealed the following factors and conditions leading to the low efficiency of scientific and innovative activity of higher educational institutions: a broken innovation cycle; shortage of specialists in the field of marketing and management of in-novation projects and lack of competence of scientific-pedagogical workers in the field of commercialization of innovative products; inconsistency of research plans of departments, etc. There has been justified the application of a project approach to the management of scientific and innovative activities, using a matrix organizational structure, including functional links for the organization, management, control and marketing of innovative projects. The problem of increasing the scientific and innovation activity management has been solved using the algorithm of rational distribution and concentration of resources for developing priority projects based on state and regional programs for socio-economic and innovative development. A detailed study of the priority directions for scientific and innovative activities, marketing and feasibility analysis, organizational, technical, financial and legal support of the project, research and development and founding of small innovative companies (or alienation of rights to intellectual property) will help to form a rational innovation cycle from a scientific idea to its commercialization

Abstract Researchers are increasingly excited about the potential of new genetic tools like genome editing to address a wide array of important issues in food and agriculture, including sustainable production, improved nutrition, and animal health and welfare. U.S. regulators and other governments around the world are currently working to develop policies to effectively evaluate the safety of novel products developed with these technologies, but to date, have been sending ambiguous and sometimes conflicting signals about regulatory paths to market. In addition to getting regulatory systems right, successful commercialization of innovative new products may require a broad dialogue about the use of innovation in food and agriculture with a wide array of stakeholders in order to ensure that developers have the social license to bring such products to market. The speaker will review the current global regulatory landscape for evaluation of food and agricultural products derived from gene editing and the potential impact on successful commercialization of such products.

Innovations are sources of competitive advantage for companies, regions, and countries. At the beginning of this century, the growth of the public sector's participation in financing innovation was observed in Brazil. With the regulation of the Brazilian Innovation Law in 2005, the Governments started to execute grants for innovation, meaning non-reimbursable financial support to companies in order to develop innovative activities, in partnership with the Federal Government. In 2013, the Government of Espírito Santo State, performed the grants in the state, through TECNOVA-ES Program. A total of R$13.5 million has been injected into 38 companies with the aim of developing innovative products and services to expand the competitiveness of these companies. This article evaluates the impacts of TECNOVA-ES with emphasis on the commercialization of products/services. The main results revealed 27 companies participating in the evaluation (71% of the population) have developed 65 products, of which 46 have reached the market, resulting in a commercialization rate of 70%. In terms of turnover, more than 55% of the companies participating in this study had no impact on their turnover due to TECNOVA-ES. However, the program allowed almost 15% of the companies participating in the evaluation to increase their revenues by more than 100%. Future studies are recommended to evaluate the impacts of TECNOVA-ES considering other variables such as cooperation relations, social and environmental impacts.

The aim of this paper is to propose and demonstrate an approach for exploring diffusion barriers specific to innovative green building products. Innovative green building products aim at reducing environmental impacts during a product's entire life-cycle, helping mitigate the substantial environmental degradation caused by current construction patterns. Few studies establish attributes that differentiate such products within the construction market, a key facet to increasing adoption. For key stakeholders, product attributes can affect the rate of adoption and the nature of use. Toward that end, this work: 1) Collects attributes common to all innovative building products through literature review in residential construction innovation, diffusion and adoption attributes, and green products; 2) utilizes a survey of certified green home builders as a sample population and Structural Insulated Panels as a “control” product to identify which product attributes specifically influence the use of green building products; and 3) Evaluates the relative influence of attributes on product adoption during initial trial of the product and for continued use of the product. Identifying attributes of green building products that influence adoption could enhance product development through reducing barriers to diffusion and commercialization across the residential construction industry. This work focuses on one specific product, Structural Insulated Panel systems (SIPS), from the standpoint of a population of green builders. As such, it attempts to serve as a scalable basis for future research.

Rapid development of modern areas of biomedical science contributes to the increase of the implementation rate, of innovative products and services in medicine, in particular, clinical oncology. The purpose of the article is the comparative analysis of the experience of R&D results commercialization in biomedical sector of the developed countries and Ukraine. The study uses methods of structural and logical analysis and comparative content analysis. Commercialization fits the inventor interests in using intellectual property, provides its implementation, and reveals commercial advantages to continue scientific and innovative activity. Society is interested in successful commercialization and technology transfer in biomedical field that increase competitiveness level of health system. Such activity stimulates scientists to develop innovative products. In foreign countries, legal and organizational mechanisms have been created that stimulate of investment activities for conducting research in the biomedical science at universities and scientific institutions. The development of links in the field of commercialization of R&D results has become a priority of the innovation policy of many countries, and public-private partnerships are an effective tool for its implementation, as evidenced by the rising of national budgets, legislative initiatives and the development of new programs. The analysis of the foreign experience of technology transfer of medical and biological R&D results allows to highlight several points: the financial support of research institutes and universities is considered as an important function of the state; public financing of projects in the field of medicine and biology is carried out within a quite long period of time (often not less than10 years), and the purchase of equipment is not a central item of expenditures; assessment of the productivity of researchers is complemented by evaluating the performance of the departments responsible for research management and funding; quantitative indicators of research unit results are supplemented by expert assessments of the quality of research, effectiveness and safety of medical developments based on new knowledge and achievements of scientific and technological progress. Conclusion. In Ukraine, despite certain difficulties in recent years, the high scientific potential in the field of biomedical sciences provides an increase of the number of high-tech innovative scientific and technological developments. Taking into account the low innovative activity of scientific institutions and universities, commercialization requires a systematic state approach, the development of strategies, specific mechanisms, methods and forms

It has been substantiated that personnel is the driving force of innovative development of enterprises. The interrelation of the components of the formation of innovativeness of the company’s personnel, such as innovative potential, the innovative activity of employees, and the effectiveness of their innovative activity was demonstrated. A comprehensive approach to assessing the innovativeness of the company’s personnel, which consists of six stages describing the procedure of such evaluation, was proposed. It was proved that it is appropriate to evaluate the innovativeness of the company’s personnel in the areas of innovative activity of employees and the effectiveness of their innovative activities. The systems of partial, integrated, and general indicators of innovativeness of the company’s personnel and criteria for assessing its level were proposed. A system of indicators of innovative activity of personnel based on qualimetric assessment of their innovative potential was offered. The procedure for assessing the level of innovative activity of employees was improved by introducing a partial indicator of personnel’s desire to carry out innovative activities. A system of indicators for assessing the effectiveness of innovative activities of personnel, including two groups, was proposed. The first group of partial indicators characterizes the effectiveness of innovative activity of the company’s personnel, the second group focuses on the effectiveness of commercialization of innovative products. To determine the level of innovativeness of the company’s personnel, a matrix that combines assessment of the levels of innovative activity and effectiveness of innovative activities of employees was proposed. The results of the study make it possible to determine the level of innovativeness of personnel, to develop an effective strategy for the creation and commercialization of innovative products of an enterprise.

The sphere of scientific and technical activity in our country is one of the most difficult in terms of regulatory and legislative support. At the moment, the state has not fully taken the steps necessary to transform scientific and technical activities into a full-fledged branch of the national economy. Indeed, the state is obliged to pay attention to scientific and technical activities, to create a legal framework that promotes the commercialisation of research and development results. Today, Russian organisations face problems related to the need to determine further ways of business development in the conditions of a significant reduction in export potential and increased competition in the domestic market. The successful solution of these problems, as well as ensuring the necessary level of competitiveness of products is impossible without the formation of a socially-oriented innovative development model based on the use of modern methods of management of innovative processes. One of the main instruments of formation of strategic potential of each enterprise (organisation) becomes introduction in the economic circulation of the saved-up scientific and technical potential, new technologies and knowledge. In this regard, the problems of involvement of intellectual property (IP) in the economic turnover of enterprises, its objective assessment, regulation of legal relations between the participants of innovations, registration and conclusion of license agreements are of particular relevance and require urgent solutions. This article is aimed at research of scientific and practical bases of management of processes of commercialisation of IP in the conditions of market model of development. The purpose of the study is to substantiate and develop scientific and practical bases of management of IP commercialisation processes, which is a necessary condition for the transition to an innovative model of its development and competitiveness in market conditions.

In the article the author views economic and managerial issues of development of innovative activities of industrial enterprises based on the implementation of economic processes of the National technological initiative; presents the parameters of NTI implementation; shows that the effectiveness of innovative development of industry determines the creation of future markets, allowing enterprises to shape the image of the future of industry, to carry out a continuous and complex innovation process, the production of innovations, their commercialization and market demand. The author substantiates the relevance of implementing the processes of innovative development of the industrial complex of the region on the basis of NTI, which consists in the fact that the creation of innovations and their commercialization allowed enterprises to have a leading position among similar manufacturers, creating products with a high level of knowledge intensity, thereby forming new technological markets. NTI stimulates the development of new markets, determining the forecast of economic development. Innovative development of the region's industrial complex on the basis of NTI involves the creation of an integration grouping of the industrial sector on the basis of the innovation ecosystem. The most significant result of the research is the development of a model and an algorithm for evaluating the innovative ecosystem of the industrial complex of the region based on NTI. The model reflects that the development of STI projects is carried out through the innovation support infrastructure. In order to implement innovative STI projects, a regional ecosystem of innovation support is being created on the basis of industrial clusters. The main importance in the ecosystem is the network connections of participants in innovative processes and their technological capabilities (points of technological growth). In the article it is shown that the strategy for implementing STI to create new markets and technologies is based on the innovative activity of industrial complexes. In the model of the proposed ecosystem of innovative support for the industrial complex of the region based on NTI, an algorithm for evaluating the effectiveness of its functioning has been developed.

The complexity of innovation processes is associated with a high level of uncertainty in the results of bringing innovations to the market and their commercialization. The key task in the innovative development of business entities is the preventive assessment of innovations and the selection of the most promising for the implementation of innovative developments. This circumstance requires research and detailed elaboration of the methodological apparatus for assessing innovative developments. Purpose of the work: to carry out a criterion assessment of promising for the implementation of innovative developments, the transfer of which will provide a high level of return on investment, and will lead to an increase in the innovative activity of business entities. Research object: innovative developments (creation of our own, acquisition, copying). The proposed assessment of innovative development is based on the calculation of two criteria: payback period and versatility. The choice of the "payback period" criterion is based on two aspects. First of all, it determines the period for which the invested funds will be returned to the investor and determines the "profitability" of investments in innovative developments, since its calculation is directly related to cost and profit indicators. Evaluation of the quality indicators of the criterion "universality": novelty, inventive step, applicability, compliance with standards, the presence of competitors in the market is carried out by a point method with the help of experts. The results of the assessment reflect the recommendations on the effectiveness of the implementation of innovative developments, complement the overall assessment of innovative activities, in terms of including in the cost of new products the costs of creating an innovative development from a model within the framework of R&D, for the development of production and other possible costs associated with bringing the innovative development to use in production and commercialization.

The scientific work is devoted to the coverage of problems and prospects of informatization of state administration and national economy, which is considered as a factor of innovative development of economy. It is shown that informatization makes it possible to reduce the cost of the national economy, to provide high efficiency of social management, to increase economic mobility (including investments, labor, resources, etc.). According to the author’s point of view, in modern conditions informatization should be considered not simply as a certain branch of state policy, or a set of measures, or a separate process, but as a result of economic activity of the national economy, which is able to satisfy the demand for information products and technologies. This happens under the influence of innovative transformations. The normative-legal and regulatory-technical support of the informatization process in Ukraine is analyzed. The provisions of the National Informatics Program have been evaluated. It is stated that in order to successfully implement the informatization policy, it is necessary to solve the problem of creating an attractive innovative climate. The problems of formation of attractive innovation climate in Ukraine and contradictions of organization of innovation process are described. The list of the main measures aimed at solving the problems of improving the innovation climate is presented. It is substantiated that the general model of regulation should be based on broadening the range of economic methods of stimulating innovative activity in the sphere of informatization, first of all in priority spheres and branches of the real sector of economy. The proposal on the feasibility of developing and adopting the State Targeted Economic Program for Informatization of Public Administration and the National Economy for the Period up to 2030 is justified. . Effective measures to stimulate and protect investment in the IT sector must be envisaged, as well as enhanced mechanisms for protecting intellectual property rights, taking into account the world-recognized principles and standards. The experience of EU countries on the use of tools to promote technology commercialization (including information technology) is analyzed. Proposals for the development of a draft law defining the general concepts of commercialization of information technologies and innovations in the field of informatization have been submitted. The list of elements of the process of commercialization of information innovations and information technologies is presented. Proposals for a set of economic instruments for stimulating customers (buyers) of information products and technologies of national origin are made.

This paper investigates the role of intellectual property in the modern post-industrial economy and its intensive commercialization of the country's competitive advantages in the global economic environment. The main purpose of the research is to prove the hypothesis about the crucial role of intellectual property development in ensuring expanded public reproduction and facilitating the global competitiveness of national economies through innovative modernization of production. To gain the research aim, the authors used a combination of theoretical synthesis and comprehensive statistical analysis. The study follows a deductive approach and theoretical background analysis followed by quantitative research of statistical data. It allowed arriving essential conclusions concerning the role of intellectual property in strengthening the global competitiveness of the national economy and practical policy implications regarding stimulating intellectual property commercialization within the national economy. Paper investigates transmission mechanisms that represent the impact of intensive commercialization of intellectual property on public reproduction and competitiveness of the national economy. Commercialization of intellectual property, defined as a range of activities envisaged for rapid implementation of intellectual activity, resulted in economic turnover to obtain strategic competitive advantages and generate economic profit supported by the transformation of intellectual property into intellectual capital used for the manufacturing of innovative, highly marginal products. Comprehensive statistical data analysis was conducted using quantitative methods (cluster analysis and principal components analysis). The findings proved the key role of intellectual property in the modern system of public reproduction. They demonstrated the multiplicative impact of intellectual property development on a country's competitive global economic environment. Obtained research results provided the basis for policy implications concerning the development of commercialization of intellectual property and stimulation of expanded reproduction of intellectual capital in Ukraine as a precondition of innovative modernization of national industries and acquiring strategic competitive advantages in a globalized market.

The wide extension area occupied by babassu palm (Atallea speciosa Mart. Ex Spreng) is usually considered as an important obstacle for agricultural activities, such as crop production and pasture maintenance in Brazil. This study aimed to evaluate the non-wood forest product use and income generated in an Integrated Crop-Livestock-Forestry (ICLF) system using babassu palm as the main forestry component in a rural area of Pindaré-Mirim, a municipality of Maranhão state, in the Amazon Eastern Region, Brazil. In order to rise a well-balanced agroforestry system in numerous rural areas of the country, three main questions were addressed in this study: 1) What is the production of babassu fruits in the system? 2) Is the babassu extractivism income economically suitable for traditional communities of women babassu breakers? 3) Which commercialization scenario of NWFP could generate more income? Data on phenology and fruit production, processing of all fruit components, and commercialization of babassu products were collected in two 12-month seasons of palm production (2017/2018 and 2018/2019). The mean fruit production reached 2,345.49 kg ha-1 season-1, resulting in an estimate of income generation ranging from R$ 8,206.96 ha-1 season-1 to R$ 36,628.54 ha-1 season-1, depending on the commercialization scenario. These numbers were compared to the statewide monthly income per household of R$ 605.00 and to the per capita monthly income of 54% of the municipality of less than R$ 499.00. The real field data and the estimates for two seasons of using babassu palm, as the innovative forestry component in ICLF system, demonstrated that babassu NWFP could generate substantial income for the surrounding user communities. Such innovative agricultural system may contribute to change people understanding, diversifying agrarian production, improving the socioeconomic household welfare, and reducing the long-term conflicts between livestock activities and babassu palm existence in Brazil.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to expand the understanding of the “front end” of innovation by examining the influence of top executives, who allocate the resources and cultivate the culture in which inventions are born, on the innovation process. Design/methodology/approach This paper suggests that the effect of executives on innovation can be better understood by explicitly separating innovation into the component processes of invention and commercialization. This allows us to consider how executive characteristics might have a different effect on technology development outcomes than they do on the subsequent transformation of those technologies into new products. The theory is tested on a sample of firms from the biomedical device industry. Findings The findings indicate that top management team (TMT) age and tenure have no effect on the type of technologies a firm develops (radical vs incremental) but do significantly affect the efficiency with which new technologies are turned into new products in some contexts. TMT heterogeneity affects both the type of technologies developed in the firm and also their transformation to new products. Interestingly, the effect of executives on commercialization depends on the type of underlying technologies which the firm has developed. Originality/value This paper contributes to the literatures on TMTs and innovation by offering a more granular explanation of how executives differentially impact the disaggregated stages of the innovation process, and thus also contributes to knowledge of the long-term innovation performance implications of executive leadership.

PurposeThis paper aims to examine whether consumers respond differently to different types of eco-innovations and to explore how and under what conditions eco-friendly consumer innovativeness (ECI) impacts consumers’ perception and adoption intentions.Design/methodology/approachTwo online experiments with real consumers in the USA were conducted to test the hypothesized relationships. Two eco-innovation products were examined: a connected vacuum cleaner (Study 1) and an innovative smartphone (Study 2).FindingsFirst, consumers tend to express more positive product beliefs, higher preferences and stronger adoption intentions toward resource use elimination innovations compared with the other types of eco-innovations across two product categories. Although consumers are not willing to pay more, they would adjust their payment equity by increasing consumption levels for resource use elimination innovations. Second, this research demonstrates ECI affects adoption intentions via formulating consumer perceptions of product eco-friendliness. Perceived trade-offs between eco-friendly benefits and product effectiveness strengthens the positive effect of ECI while weakening the impact of perceived product eco-friendliness on adoption intentions.Research limitations/implicationsFuture studies may validate and extend the results for marketing communication to different types of eco-friendly innovative consumers to determine which marketing messages best match the perceptions and preferences of certain eco-friendly innovative consumers.Practical implicationsThis study offers useful insights for strategic research-and-development investment and decision-making processes in selecting the best-suited approaches to developing eco-innovations and maximizing their success in the commercialization phase. Specifically, firms should place greater emphasis on resource use elimination innovation, which could evoke more positive consumer responses than resource use efficiency innovations and resource use substitution innovations. Moreover, it is important to improve the segmentation of the early adopters in the eco-innovation market with respect to specific types of eco-innovations so that marketers can distinctively address eco-friendly innovative consumers that best fit the potential user profile of their products.Originality/valueThe current research is novel as neither an empirically nor a theoretically founded framework has been suggested to examine how and why consumers respond differently to different types of eco-innovations. The findings shine new lights on eco-innovation research by providing useful insights into the underlying mechanisms and the conditions under which ECI affects consumers’ responses.

The paper reviews the aspects of commercialization of scientific-technical products, discovery of the objects included in financing process, development and commercialization of scientific outcomes, the commercialization of the results of scientific-technical studies. As a result of natural progress, the demand for the commercialization of the outcomes of scientific-technical studies in the society increases. Full-scale studies on the commercialization of scientific results for prospective and successful measures in various fields, as well as the training in this sphere have special significance. Currently, the balance between the knowledge and the resources globally trends to the knowledge. Therefore, the education throughout whole life is a key element. The volume of capital investments in the development of non-material actives (intelligent database (ETCI), education and software) in various countries is equal or exceeds the own capital. The shift to the new stage of scientific-technical advance stipulates the necessity of strengthening of innovative activity and the implementation of the new approach. Consequently, the urgent task is the study of the methodological framework of information support of organizational and technological reconstruction of scientific researches. The paper briefly describes the stages of commercialization process and concerned parties.

The article analyzes the characteristics of the program of Assistance to Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) in the United States. This program is aimed at support and subsequent commercialization of high technology developed by small firms. The government agencies involved in the implementation of the program determine the research areas manage the allocated funds themselves. The program has been in operation for over 30 years and has proven to be effective. It provides business with funds necessary at the primary, the most risky phase of production of innovative goods and services, and also gives signals to the market about popular areas of innovation development. Participation in the program is a guarantee of a high level for innovative product or service produced by the firm and allows companies to raise additional funds. Conclusions drawn from the analysis of the SBIR may be useful for the policy support of science and technology in Russia. The implementation of programs similar to SBIR in Russia will solve the actual problem of innovation development, to reduce information asymmetry in the market of innovative products and services and help in attracting venture capital in high-technology projects.

The product innovation enters the next stage in the product development process series towards commercialization. As a product during its development period, it is necessary to carry out market research to determine consumer preferences and perceptions, to become the basis for business analysis and improvement. This activity is carried out through deep interviews with inventors, product / sample tests and simulations, surveys and observations on the market and its segmentation. Market research techniques are used by searching, gathering, and analyzing information about consumers or markets that are appropriate for the business they run. In addition to product quality through understanding the needs and tastes of consumers, another thing that also builds consumer ratings of products is perception. Positioning is the initial analysis to build perception in the minds of consumers. This activity aims to obtain market research documents to determine consumer perceptions about innovation products after consuming the product so that it can be used as a reference for product improvement before commercialization. This activity also aims to help to analyze positioning and design marketing strategies for the next stage. Understanding consumer needs and creating products that are able to meet the needs and solve consumer problems are the keys to successful product commercialization. This activity carried out market research on 7 Andalas University innovation products on food and beverage category with 100 respondents for each of their products spread across the West Sumatra region. This activity produces product market research documents that can be used by each inventor and developer of each product to develop and commercialize their products.

The forest products industry is an important socioeconomic sector to many developing countries, both in terms of foreign exchange earnings and employment. In the case of Malaysia, the industry has been one of the fastest growing manufacturing sectors in the country, driven primarily by comparative advantages derived from factor inputs. However, with increasing competition from other cheaper producing nations particularly China and Vietnam, the Malaysian forest products industry is forced to transform and move along the value-chain through innovation and value-addition. Although the government has played a pivotal role in providing a broad policy framework to support value-adding and innovative activities, success on the ground has been limited. The creativity environment, which is plagued with by low-wage economy, coupled with limited network between research, market and industrial enterprises have stifled innovation within the industry. The lack of information and the poor quality human capital has also contributed to the limited innovation within the forest products industry in the country. Against this background, most innovation within the industry is confined to the realms of alternative raw materials, with minimal technological and design variations. Although extensive research and development activities are undertaken, the commercialization potential of the research outputs is limited due to being not market-driven. Inevitably, innovation in the forest products sector must be based on market-needs and must be driven through technological and design change in order to ensure long-term competitiveness.

Combination products are therapeutic or diagnostic medical products that combine drugs, devices, and/or biological products with one another. FDA developed a regulation (final rule) on Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) for combination products that became effective July 22, 2013 (21 CFR Part 4). AAMI recently developed a technical information report (TIR) that provides information on how to effectively implement FDA's regulation. The overall goal of the TIR is to aid informed, risk-based decisions in establishing CGMP operating systems that support development, manufacture, premarket regulatory evaluation, and ultimately commercialization of combination products. This article, a result of an discussion with industry and FDA representatives, explores the landscape of combination products, highlights important considerations in developing and seeking marketing clearance for these innovative products, and provides insight on trends in the area.

Problem setting. Agrobusiness in Ukraine is one of the stimulus of stable economic functioning, social status, state’s food safety. Its sustainable development depends on various factors including in particular the introduction of innovations into the economic sphere of a specific agricultural producer. Latest research analysis. Economists and lawyers research the issues of agricultural innovations. We can outstand the scientific works by Kot O., Larina S., Oliynyk О., Mazurenko O., Semchyk V. These works consider agricultural innovations as an economic phenomenon without taking into account the legal aspect. This approach seems to be somewhat narrow. Discussion. Agricultural innovations are the result of the realization of the entity’s intellectual property (inventions, useful models, new kinds of plants) in the field of agrobusiness that is aimed at obtaining economic, social, environmental effects. In agricultural production agricultural innovations can be found in the area of crop growing, animal husbandry, fishing industry, agricultural engineering, organic production. Conclusions and prospects. Innovative legal relations in the field of agrobusiness are the relations that arise between specific entities and the ones in agricultural business concerning the order, the use of a new agricultural product, the technologies of agricultural products’ production, the maintenance of digital agricultural production in the field of agrobusiness for making profit, gaining positive social ecological effect. Agricultural innovations as an object of innovative agrarian relations are the important factors in the formation of national agrobusiness. Their use leads to an innovative model of agricultural production. The demand for innovative products allows to make an innovative chain of agrobusiness and it includes: the development of innovation, its commercialization, the operation of agricultural production, consumers’ offer for agricultural products, including innovations.

Abstract Irish moss traditionally has been valued for its hydrocolloid composition. Recognition that natural harvests would not meet the expected demands for its biomass led to experimental pilot-scale cultivation based on principles used in agriculture. Innovative technologies and systems for aquaculture management were devised when those from agriculture or mariculture were not directly transferrable. Periods of rapid progress and of consolidation due to disruptive external events were encountered, a cycle not uncommon during the introduction of a new technology. Certain key decisions in the background matrix that ultimately led to Irish moss cultivation are reviewed together with an overview of the main critical events that affected progress. The Chondrus crispus aquaculture as practiced today is essentially a modified form of precision agriculture operating year-round with c. 3.4 ha of on-land culture tanks and up to 75 employees during the peak season. Beginning with new Irish moss seedstock from the library/nursery, the crop is generated through a closely controlled, vertically integrated system of cultivation that after approximately 18 months increases the biomass more than 50,000-fold. After harvesting it is processed into the final food-grade products to meet the stringent demands of the export market.

One effective way of accelerating the commercialization of university innovations (inventions) is to execute a “Technological Entrepreneurship” framework that helps the execution of agreements between universities and industry for commercialization. Academics have been encouraged to commercialize their research and findings yet the level of success of commercialization of inventions (innovations) in industry is questionable. As there is no agreed commercialization framework to guide the execution of processes to support inventions moving from laboratories to the right market. The lack of capabilities of appropriate processes have undermined the turning of innovation and products into wealth. The research questions are designed to identify the constraints and hindrances of commercialization and the characteristics of successful processes built from framework based on selected case studies of incubation capabilities within universities commercialization program.

In recent years, the development of healthier foods, richer in nutraceutical or functional compounds, has been in great demand. Microalgae are attracting increasing attention, as their incorporation in foods and beverages can be a promising strategy to develop sustainable foods with improved nutritional profiles and a strong positive impacts on health. Despite the increasing market demand in plant-based foods, the popularity of fermented dairy foods has increased in the recent years since they are a source of microorganisms with health-promoting effects. In this context, the incorporation of microalgae in cheeses, fermented milks and other dairy products represents an interesting approach towards the development of innovative and added-value hybrid products based on animal proteins and enriched with vegetable origin ingredients recognized as extremely valuable sources of bioactive compounds. The effect of the addition of microalgal biomass (Chlorella vulgaris, Arthrospira platensis, Pavlova lutheri, and Diacronema vlkianum, among others) and its derivates on the physicochemical composition, colorimetric and antioxidant properties, texture and rheology behavior, sensory profile, and viability of starter cultures and probiotics in yogurt, cheese and ice cream is discussed in the current work. This review of the literature on the incorporation of microalgae in dairy products aims to contribute to a better understanding of the potential use of these unique food ingredients in the development of new sustainable products and of their beneficial effects on health. Considering the importance of commercialization, regulatory issues about the use of microalgae in dairy products are also discussed.

The article explores the system of State Financing of Research and Development (R&D) of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in Switzerland. Authors outlined the results of their analysis of key state institutions of financial support. The innovative vector of Swiss economy with a focus on its own financial resources, a developed national scientific and educational environment, as well as mechanisms of tax incentives for scientific and innovative activities of large, small and medium-sized enterprises at the regional level allowed Switzerland to become one of the leaders in the world innovation market. Russia can borrow the experience of Switzerland in the development of multichannel and targeted financial support for innovative activities of SMEs carrying out R&D in areas of scientific and technological development and focus on the production of science-intensive products. A certain exemption from the income tax and a reduction in the rate of insurance tax to SME employees engaged in innovative activities in priority sectors of Russia, the introduction of tax incentives and tax deductions such as patent boxes and super deductions will ensure the increase of the number of SMEs and in their contribution to GDP, will boost a competitiveness of the manufactured high technology products. The Swiss case will help to improve the mechanisms for integrating academic and university science with government and non-government organizations and SMEs in order to accelerate the commercialization of scientific research and the development of international network cooperation. The development of forms of integration cooperation between financial investors and youth small enterprises, start-up leaders and technology start-ups adapted to the Russian realities will allow to increase the level of interaction between the state in the field of higher education and science with large business and SMEs and to solve the priority tasks of training qualified personnel in innovation-oriented sectors of the economy.

Biological products or biopharmaceuticals are medicinal products derived from living organism systems and manufactured by using modern biotechnology that differ widely from the conventional synthetic drugs. They are much larger and more complex molecules with inherent diversity; hence, different manufacturers cannot produce identical biological products, even with the same type of host expression system and equivalent technologies. Thus, biologics manufactured and marketed after patent expiration are usually referred to as biosimilars. Biosimilars endeavor to copy the original technology leading to the production of innovative biotechnological medicines to obtain a product which is similar to the reference product. These products reported to improve the treatment landscape for multiple diseases, particularly in the areas of oncology, blood disorders, rheumatology, endocrinology and are becoming choice of treatment regimen due to policy push by governments for it’s affordability without comprising on quality, safety and efficacy. Pharmaceutical exports from Brazil increased by around 41% between 2009 and 2013, touching a high of U.S. $1.516 billion. The valuation of Brazilian pharma markets has shown double digit growth in the past decade. Between 2012 and 2015, market valuations have increased from U.S. $25.2 billion to U.S. $35.3 billion. Biosimilarity is based on a comprehensive comparability exercise wherein unavoidable clinical differences are evaluated and must meet equivalence or non-inferiority criteria. Biosimilars need to comply with different regulatory requirements for market authorization in different sites. There are several other related issues that need to be defined by the national authorities, such as interchangeability, labeling and prescribing information. The Brazilian health surveillance agency shadows the key principles established by the World Health Organization for the assessment of biosimilarity. However, the regulations also widen the gap by having standalone application pathway that does not require the usual comparability exercise with the reference product, originating non-biosimilar copies. Interchangeability and the use of nonproprietary names are not regulated. The objective of this manuscript is to explore the Brazilian Regulatory outlook from concept to commercialization of Biosimilars.
