Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine the role of collective angst, the concern about the future viability of one’s group, during service failure and recovery. Design/methodology/approach – To test this objective the authors utilize an experiment to examine how Kuwaitis react to service failures when the front-line employee is a foreigner. Findings – The results indicate that collective angst is associated with greater anger following a service failure. The authors also find that collective angst moderates the impact of cultural distance on anger and recommendation intentions following a service-failure recovery attempt. More specifically, cultural distance leads to greater anger and lower intentions to recommend a service establishment for consumers that experience greater collective angst. Originality/value – The research provides the first attempt at examining how local consumers react to foreigner service providers, by examining how concern about the future vitality of one’s national group, in other words collective angst, affects such reactions.

Abstract. Collective nostalgia for the good old days of the country thrives across the world. However, little is known about the social psychological dynamics of this collective emotion across cultures. We predicted that collective nostalgia is triggered by collective angst as it helps people to restore a sense of in-group continuity via stronger in-group belonging and out-group rejection (in the form of opposition to immigrants). Based on a sample (N = 5,956) of individuals across 27 countries, the general pattern of results revealed that collective angst predicts collective nostalgia, which subsequently relates to stronger feelings of in-group continuity via in-group belonging (but not via out-group rejection). Collective nostalgia generally predicted opposition to immigrants, but this was subsequently not related to in-group continuity.

In this article, we summarize recent research on collective angst (i.e., concern for one’s group’s future vitality) and collective nostalgia (i.e., sentimental longing for the in-group’s past) and emphasize their interconnections and predictive utility. We also put forth the supposition that the source of the collective angst that group members are feeling can influence the content of collective nostalgia (i.e., what group members are longing for), which has consequences for the attitudes and actions that group members will support to protect the group’s vitality. Political rhetoric tends to capitalize on the relation between these emotions by making specific existential threats salient to elicit specific associated collective nostalgizing, followed by promises to “bring back the good old days”—days when the source of the threat was (ostensibly) absent. In sum, the content of collective nostalgia matters for understanding what action tendencies group members will support to assuage the specific (perceived) threats to their group.

The historical scope of this review is approximately one hundred years beginning with a discussion of the works of Marx, Weber, Tönnies and Simmel. This discussion is followed by an analysis of how the study of mass behavior dealt with the rise and aftermatch of National Socialism. Finally the collective behavior research which has been done in the post war period is reviewed ending with a brief description of the work being done in the subspeciality of the Sociology of Disasters.

Abstract: Building on the social psychology literature on collective memory, we tested if national nostalgia fosters collective angst through greater perceived societal anomie among French participants. Consistent with our predictions, a correlational study ( N = 535) and an experimental study ( N = 370) showed that nostalgia for France’s past predicted greater angst regarding its future through increased perceptions that present French society is more anomic than before. These findings suggest that (1) our representations of the national past shapes how we perceive present and future society and (2) national nostalgia, besides acting as a coping mechanism against existential threats as suggested in previous work, might also feed these threats by fostering perceptions of an anomic present and a frightening future.

The present study tested how intergroup threat (high versus low) and social identity as a Muslim (salient versus non-salient) affected belief in conspiracy theories. Data among Indonesian Muslim students (N = 139) from this study demonstrated that intergroup threat and social identity salience interacted to influence belief in conspiracy theories. High intergroup threat triggered greater belief in conspiracy theories than low intergroup threat, more prominently in the condition in which participants’ Muslim identity was made salient. Collective angst also proved to mediate the effect of intergroup threat on the belief. However, in line with the prediction, evidence of this mediation effect of collective angst was only on the salient social identity condition. Discussions on these research findings build on both theoretical and practical implications.

Two studies tested the idea that perceived normalization of radical political ideologies (right and left) reduces support for freedom of speech of the opponents and political tolerance. In Study 1 ( N = 633), Americans were primed with the normalization of the radical right or left. Primed with the normalization of radical outgroup ideologies, both liberals and conservatives were more willing to restrict their opponents’ freedom of speech and were more politically intolerant – effects that were mediated by collective angst. Study 2 ( N = 632) replicated the results of Study 1 and extended them by showing that both conservatives and liberals worried about the image of their party not when they were exposed to the normalization of radical ingroup ideologies, but when they were exposed to the normalization of radical outgroup ideologies. These results suggest that perceived normalization of radical ideologies affects people’s attitudes towards freedom of speech and political (in)tolerance.

This paper seeks to explore aspects of Anita Brookner’s autobiography and personality which have been recreated in the female protagonists of many of her well-known early novels. Born into a family of European Jews displaced by the Second World War, Brookner projects the collective memory and the life experience — the angst — of the émigré and the refugee. Exile is a legacy of history, a painful inheritance of the Jewish “diaspora.” In Brookner’s fiction, exile is a psychological state of being not restricted by notions of national identity politics. Brookner recreates the difficult patterns of personal survival and provides a unique perspective on cultural dislocation. An acclaimed art historian and academic, the psychological truth of Anita Brookner’s lived experience, of compromise and interrogation of the cultural rift between the European and the British sensibilities, endows her fiction with the attributes of the Künstlerroman. The argument of my paper will be based on ideas borrowed from Edward Said’s famous essay “Reflection on Exile” (2000). I shall examine Anita Brookner’s cultural identity within the tropes of critical discourse inextricably linked to the “community of refugees”: loss, nostalgia, memory (the twin faculties of remembering and forgetting), and trauma.

A widespread stereotype holds that the Germans are notorious worriers, an idea captured by the term German angst. An analysis of country–level neurotic personality traits (trait anxiety, trait depression, and trait neuroticism; N = 7 210 276) across 109 countries provided mixed support for this idea; Germany ranked 20th, 31st, and 53rd for depression, anxiety, and neuroticism, respectively, suggesting, at best, the national stereotype is only partly valid. Theories put forward to explain the stereotypical characterization of Germany focus on the collective traumatic events experienced by Germany during World War II (WWII), such as the massive strategic bombing of German cities. We thus examined the link between strategic bombing of 89 German cities and today's regional levels in neurotic traits ( N = 33 534) and related mental health problems. Contrary to the WWII bombing hypothesis, we found negative effects of strategic bombing on regional trait depression and mental health problems. This finding was robust when controlling for a host of economic factors and social structure. We also found Resilience × Stressor interactions: Cities with more severe bombings show more resilience today (lower levels of neurotic traits and mental health problems in the face of a current major stressor—economic hardship). National identity is underpinned by historical representations. Recent research shows that narratives presenting an in-group’s history as discontinuous rather than continuous raise collective angst, suggesting that historical discontinuity threatens social identity. This previous research has focused on positive aspects of an in-group’s past. The present research aims to extend the findings to go beyond positive histories. We suggest that when the in-group’s actions in the past are presented as negative, historical continuity instead of discontinuity will increase perceived identity threat because a negative, continuous history threatens group members’ need for a positive social identity in the present. In an experiment with a sample size of N = 316, we manipulated the narrated valence of in-group actions during the historical event of the approval of the German constitutional law by framing the group’s actions in either positive or negative terms. In addition, we presented the in-group’s history as connected or disconnected to the in-group’s present. Results demonstrate that historical continuity only decreased identity threat compared to historical discontinuity when the in-group’s past behavior was presented as positive. When the in-group’s past was presented as negative, continuity even increased identity threat compared to historical discontinuity. These results were particularly pronounced for people who strongly identified with their national in-group. We discuss implications of the findings for political communication and managing a nation’s perception of social identity threat.

Community perceptions that socio-political change happens to them opposed to with them has created a sense of angst. There is disparity between these views and that of the Government’s Big Society (Cabinet Office, 2010). Communities with high levels of deprivation, where capacity of support services is outweighed by demand present us with a critical question: How do we continue to deliver high quality and equitable services against a backdrop of economic and socio-political change? Such instability calls for creative and proactive solutions, which both meet the needs of local communities and, in essence, are created by them. This pilot project used a practitioner-researcher approach, where personal reflections from day-to-day meetings with community members provided the basis for a change in practice. Areas of concern included behaviour management, emotional well-being and support for parents. A new way of working, rooted in evidenced-based psychology, was developed based on these concerns and later shared with a range of key stakeholders. This paper reports on the rationale and development of practice for one educational psychologist within one local community and offers optimistic messages about addressing concerns and the dilemmas this created. The study demonstrates how individual practitioners may attempt change with the vision to empower communities in a tough socio-political climate. This way of working may act as a catalyst for collective response towards sustainable change through action.

An analysis of four riveting narratives by Amitav Ghosh give shocking insights as to how planet Earth is headed for ‘omnicide’ or extinction of all life forms. Climate crisis, he explains, is in effect a crisis of imagination and culture. With the skill of a consummate artist Ghosh interweaves history, politics and literature and critiques the dominant western worldview, its hegemonistic and arid perspective that has left us deeply implicated in the great derangement of our times. The mechanistic conception of Western Enlightenment alongwith White Imperialistic ideological web of power has promulgated a perspective wherein Nature has been reduced to a mere resource. The White capitalistic gaze has led to ruthless exploitation of ‘Gaia’/Nature and created a carbon economy and resultant global warming with disastrous climate change episodes. But ‘Gaia’/Mother Earth is a living presence celebrated in the songs, stories and cultural practices of colonized Indigenous populations. Ghosh’s narratives reinstate these forgotten, underestimated values and reading of life. He is emphatic of the belief in the power of Literature, especially the Novel to rise to this crisis and establish a deep resonant communication in its transactions with the environment and the world around us. Postcolonial angst gives way to an international vision of our common humanity. The Novel, he opines, should engage with serious issues of collective interest, enter into creative dialogue with the ‘other’ and non-human voices, re-establish reverence and kinship with all life forms and become a vehicle for regeneration and transformation of perspective.

Lorrie Moore's work offers up a comic exploration of the pain of womanhood and feminism, and a powerful metafictional critique of prevailing narratives. She melds a postmodern experimentation with a gendered sense of identity, focussing on the fragmented self not just as a reaction against the constraints of a realist narrative, but as an opportunity to explore multiplicity and artistic agency. The principal focus of this essay is on Anagrams, a collection of linked short stories that has also been marketed as a novel. Anagrams offers a metafictional recycling of the alternative “stories” of the central character's life. This may be Moore's most overt play on masquerade and (re)invention, but, as will be explored, her oeuvre is suffused with women characters who attempt a variety of escapes from their presumed narrative closures and who also struggle with feminism and its consequent impact on their narrated lives. Moore admirably captures the angst attached to narrative disappointment; the desire for replication, reinvention and a shifting of responsibility; and the problematic landscape of feminism for her mature and maturing women characters. This essay explores Moore's fictional(ized) feminism and postfeminism and her characters' resort to masquerade as a legitimate response to contemporary angst and narrative tension.

Does the public expression and performance of shock, distress, anger, frustration and ideological disapproval of particular sorts of politics constitute a form of collective political expression from which individuals can learn about being citizens? When it comes to the expression of feelings of racial and other types of prejudice, has political correctness led to a deepening of entrenched racist beliefs with no channel for discussion? This article engages with such questions through a case study of YouTube responses to «My Tram Experience» a commuter-uploaded mobile-phone video of a racist diatribe on a tram in the UK. Using qualitative content analysis, and thematic analysis, it describes how these performed, networked and distributed moments of citizen angst demonstrate a limited but interesting range of civic engagements with and positionings towards racism, immigration, class and nationalism. For one reason or another these are not allowed to occur in other public for a such as the mainstream media or schools. The article argues that these vlogs are both a wide-ranging potentially therapeutic resource for those needing validation for their racist or anti-racist views, or for those who wish to express and garner solidarity for discomfort and pain caused by racism; they are also a significant though currently uncurated resource for citizenship education both formal and informal because of their engagements with technology, social context, emotional context and political rhetoric. ¿La manifestación pública de sentimientos de conmoción, angustia, ira, frustración y desaprobación ideológica de ciertos tipos de hacer política constituyen una forma de expresión colectiva que permiten a las personas aprender a ser ciudadanos? En expresiones de prejuicios raciales u otros, ¿es posible que la «corrección política» haya llevado a una profundización de creencias racistas arraigadas? Este artículo interpela estos interrogantes a tfravés de las respuestas en YouTube al vídeo «Mi experiencia en un tranvía», realizado por un viajero con teléfono móvil a partir de una diatriba racista ocurrida en un tranvía del Reino Unido. Tras un análisis cuantitativo de contenido y un análisis temático, se describe cómo momentos de angustia ciudadana –compartidos y distribuidos por la Red– demuestran un rango limitado y a la vez interesante de relaciones cívicas, así como posicionamientos ante el racismo, la inmigración, la clase social y el nacionalismo. Por diferentes motivos, estos posicionamientos no están presentes en otgros foros públicos como los medios y las escuelas. Se argumenta que estos videoblogs son un recurso terapéutico para aquellos que necesitan el reconocimiento de sus puntos de vista racistas o anti-racistas, o para aquellos que desean expresar o provocar solidaridad en momentos incómodos y dolorosos causados por el racismo. Además son un recurso significativo, aunque todavía no considerado, en la educación para la ciudadanía, tanto la formal como la informal, debido a sus compromisos con la tecnología, el contexto social, el contexto emocional y la retórica política.

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Jambi city government's policy regarding the relocation of Angso Duo Market in the perspective of Angso Duo market traders in Jambi City. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, data sourced from primary data and secondary data. Data collection was carried out through observation by observing the activities of Angso Duo Market traders, interviews with Jambi city trade officials and traders, and documents in the form of government regulations, literature and other documents that support this research. Data is processed through data presentation, data reduction, drawing conclusions, and recommendations. The results showed that the implementation of the Angso Duo traditional market relocation policy from the perspective of traders, namely: additional costs incurred by traders to rent new kiosks at Angso Duo market with kiosk rental costs being more expensive than before, and costs to pay for the arid transportation costs from Pal 10 (a place for loading and unloading goods in bulk) to the new Angso Duo market location; and nd a decrease in revenue due to a decrease in the number of customers due to the emergence of a buffer market due to the location of the Angso Duo market which is far from the main road, and the difficulty of customers l finding the merchant market

This research was conducted to find out about the general description of consumer perception towards tempe, consumer preference towards tempe and to find the correlation between perception and preference towards tempe in Pasar Angso Duo Kota Jambi. The reason this research was conducted in Pasar Angso Duo Kota Jambi Kelurahan Legok Kecamatan Danau Sipin, because the market in this place is the largest market or the central market in Kota Jambi and costumer came from all the social class. Data collection for this research were implemented on November 2019. Number of sample studied was 50 people. The research hypothesis proposed is thought to have a correlation between perception and consumer preferences for tempe in Pasar Angso Duo Kota Jambi. Chi-Square test statistical analysis was used to examine the correlation between perception and consumer preferences for tempe. The results showed that there was no correlation between perception and consumer preferences for tempe in Pasar Angso Duo Kota Jambi, seen from count = 0.646 > table 0.481 with α = 5% the same as using SPSS where the results of count = 0.646 ( Sig.2-sided) = 000 < α = 5%.Keyword : Perception, Preference, and Tempe.ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui gambaran persepsi konsumen terhadap tempe, untuk mengetahui gambaran preferensi konsumen terhadap tempe dan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara persepsi dengan preferensi terhadap tempe di Pasar Angso Duo Kota Jambi. Pengambilan data penelitian di laksanakan pada bulan November 2019. Adapun jumlah sampel yang diteliti adalah sebanyak 50 orang. Hipotesis penelitian yang diajukan diduga terdapat hubungan antara persepsi dengan preferensi konsumen terhadap tempe di Pasar Angso Duo Kota Jambi. Analisis statistik uji Chi-Square digunakan untuk menguji hubungan antara persepsi dengan preferensi konsumen terhadap tempe. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara persepsi dengan preferensi konsumen terhadap tempe di Pasar Angso Duo Kota Jambi, dilihat dari hitung = 0,646 > tabel 0,481 dengan = 5% sama dengan menggunakan SPSS dimana hasil hitung = 0,646 (Sig.2-sided) = 000 < α = 5%.Kata Kunci : Persepsi, Preferensi, dan Tempe.

The transformation of literary work today began to flourish in the field of literary studies, especially from novel to film form. The process of transformation on the form of poetry to other forms is still rare, but in this study researchers managed to find transformation from the poem Nyanyian Angsa by W. S. Rendra to novel Maria Zaitun by Joko Santoso. This research aims to describe the form of additions, substitutions, and differences in the poetry Nyanyian Angsa by W. S. Rendra and novel Maria Zaitun by Joko Santoso. The theory used in this study is transformation with qualitative descriptive research methods. The source of this research data is the poem text Nyanyian Angsa by W. S. Rendra and novel Maria Zaitun by Joko Santoso. Data collection techniques using reading techniques and note taking techniques, as well as interactive data analysis from Miles & Huberman (1992). The results of this study showed that additions, substitutions, and differences from poetry to novels found similarities and differences. The difference is because the building elements of the two literary works are different, but overall the literary works have similarities.

Angso Duo Market or also known as the Tanah Select Pesako Betuah location is an area that has a long history in the development of the city of Jambi. Angso Duo Market, which is located on the Batanghari River, is one of the development locations for riverside tourist areas which has great potential for development. Many historical events occurred at this location which brought many memories to the people of Jambi. This area has significant historical value as the historic Riverfront Batanghari river site, which has witnessed the cultural and social development of the surrounding community. The aim of this research is to identify and design an optimization strategy for the Angso Duo Tourism Market Area based on the historical heritage of the Batanghari River Riverfront which produces design aspects of the waterfront tourist area which are the basis for determining the design approach, namely the Collective Memory and Sense approaches. of Place (Meaning of Place). The research methods used in this research are literature study, field survey, interviews with related parties, and data analysis. The research results show that the Angso Duo Tourism Market Area has the potential to become an attractive tourist destination. The history of the Batanghari Riverfront, which has existed for many years, is the main attraction. However, efforts are still needed to optimize the use of this area. Based on the research results, several optimization strategies are recommended, including: Historical Heritage Conservation, Preserving and maintaining historical sites around the Batanghari River Riverfront to maintain the authenticity and historical value of the area. Infrastructure Development, Improving regional infrastructure, including road access, parking areas and other public facilities, to increase visitor comfort. Development of tourist facilities, building tourist facilities and facilities that support visitor activities, such as children's play areas, places to eat and places to rest. Environmental Management, Developing a sustainable environmental management plan to preserve the Batanghari River and its surroundings. By implementing this strategy, it is hoped that the Angso Duo Tourism Market Area can become an attractive and sustainable tourist destination, providing economic and social benefits for the local community, as well as preserving the history and environment of the Batanghari River.

This article aims to: (1) identify the grammatical and lexical aspects of the novel "A Pair of White Angsa For Palupi", and (2) describe the grammatical and lexical aspects of the novel "Sepair of white swans for Palupi". The study used a qualitative approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The technique used in this article is the documentation, listen and note technique. Data collection is done by using data source analysis. The researcher became the main data collection tool and at the same time directly analyzed the collected data. The results showed that there were five data that included grammatical and lexical aspects, which included: First, there were twenty grammatical data in the form of grammatical cohesion markers that appeared, namely references, substitutions, conjunctions, and ellipsis. Second, there are five lexical data in the form of lexical cohesion that appears, namely repetition, antonym. The results of the study indicate that there are grammatical and lexical aspects of the discourse of the novel "A Pair of White Swans for Palupi". Based on the research that has been done, the suggestion to be conveyed to the author is to be careful in the use of pronouns because the use of pronouns that are not appropriate or appropriate can give different or ambiguous meanings. This article explores construction and representation of masculinity in the “survival horror” video-game series Silent Hill. Noting the dominance of traditional male characters and masculine themes within the video-game medium, the Silent Hill franchise is seen as deviating from this assured, aggressive, and unexamined machismo. The series' protagonists are instead nondescript, flawed, domesticated men—unstable, angst-ridden, and unreliable in a manner that interrogates the dominant mode of masculine gameplay. The problematic nature of video-game interactivity and identity, the extent to which gameplay can exist independent of playable protagonists, and the gendering of video-game goals and objectives are considered. Despite conforming to certain masculine activities—fighting, collecting weaponry, exploring and dominating space—Silent Hill complicates such aspects through the game avatars' unremarkable abilities, limiting supplies, frantic combat styles, frustrating spatial progress, experiences of entrapment, and a pervading sense of helplessness, exemplified by the games' often deterministic linear structures. Overall, this article argues that the games encourage critical distance from the male game characters, the rescue missions they attempt and often fail, the monstrous images of femininity they imagine, and the voyeuristic practices in which they engage.

This research aims to find out the author's world view in Rendra's poetry collection using the theory of genetic structuralism by Goldmann. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The research that forms this paper was conducted over six years 1993-1999 in a Mormon Fundamentalist community in Western USA. I wanted to understand if it was possible to love multiple individuals at the same time or if, instead, there was a preference for emotional involvement. I live inside the community dwelling with different families which enable me to view ordinary life and daily interactions that are often not noted in survey research. I supplement this approach by collecting the life history of people’s relationships and feelings toward one another. My results are present as a set of ethnographic narratives that highlight the emotional fulfillment and angst of individual experience trying to love more than one person at the same time. I found that the impulse to form dyadic love is relentless; women are the primary agents behind the push towards a more exclusive couple centered or dyad love intimacy; the “favorite” wife was readily identified in 52 out of 60 families. This presents something of a paradox: humans are both a pair-bond species who desire to form dyadic unions, even when they are not culturally sanctioned, and who have an adaptive cognitive capacity to create alternative ways of living.

AbstractAlbert Giraud’s cycle of fiftyrondels bergamasques,Pierrot Lunaire(1884), famously became, in Otto Erich Hartleben’s German translation, the basis of Schoenberg’s Op. 21 (1912). But for many decades the work of the Belgian poet was either straightforwardly denigrated for its anachronism and ‘mediocrity’ (Boulez), or at least declared inferior to its ‘vivid, Angst-filled transformation’ (Youens) in Hartleben’s hands. This article questions some widely held beliefs concerning the originalPierrotand its subsequent reworking. The claim that Schoenberg’s selection and reorganization of the poems imposed logic and order on an otherwise jumbled collection is found to be belied by the striking narrative coherence of Giraud’s original sequence, which is unified by a clearly defined set of symbols. Meanwhile, Hartleben’s putative ‘infidelity’ to Giraud is challenged by evidence both internal (his careful preservation of the rondel structure) and contextual (an esteem for his Belgian contemporary manifested in further poetic homages). While there is no doubt that Hartleben’s translations distance the poems from their background in Parnassian aesthetics – omitting crucial references to Brueghel, Shakespeare, Watteau, and the painter and lithographer Adolphe Willette – it is Giraud himself who deserves the credit for the most strikingly memorable images later absorbed into the expressionistic milieu of Schoenberg’s melodrama.

Local wisdom is a system of values ​​and norms that are compiled, adhered to, understood, and applied by local communities based on their understanding and experience in interacting with the environment. Local wisdom is very important to be learnt because it functions as 1) conservation of natural resources, 2) human resource development 3) cultural development 4) development and science 5) ethics and morals, and so on. This research is focused on 1) the form of local wisdom found in Banjar poetry collection and 2) how to apply local wisdom in Banjar poetry collection as a medium of learning in secondary schools. The method of the research is descriptive analysis. The data sources of this research are 1) a collection of Banjar poetry and 2) teachers and students of Madrasah Aliyah Muhamadiyah 1 Banjarmasin. Data collection techniques used in this research are text observations, field observations, interviews and questionnaires. The results of the research are 1) the local wisdom found in Banjar poetry collection are in the form of beliefs, customary laws, and norms. It was found that local community’s belief of their ancestors in Meratus forest is still strong. The people believe that Meratus has its own “guard” called Panglima Burung, he is accompanied by traditional music called kuriding. The local community also believe in Panglima Angsa for their guidance in life, the people often ask for his wisdom. The local community's customary law found in Banjar poetry collection is the presence of ancestral sabers called mandau that are flown in when the community wants to cut tyranny for the loss of their homes in Meratus forest. The norm is in the form of an appeal to preserve nature which is called Bawanang. Bawanang is seen as an ancestor who is able to overcome all environmental damage by using supernatural powers. The community also believe that Bawanang is capable to drive away greedy people who damage the environment and 2) Learning local wisdom through Banjar poetry collection can be done by a) asking students to analyse the atmosphere, theme, and meanings of local wisdom found in Banjar poetry collection and b) asking students to demonstrate local wisdom found in Banjar poetry collection by applying the norms that exist in the poetry to their daily life activities as the norms are considered to be some messages from the ancestors to maintain preservation of nature.

Since the Holocaust much has been written about the violent horrors of the last and the present century. Suddenly recognized as the ‘hated and disowned other’ and driven away from their world of intimate connections, exiled people live with inexpressible angsts which are unconsciously passed on from parents to children, to their children and still further on. The shadow of the past is cast on refugees as unlike on any other diaspora. In spite of, or because of, the lived trauma, sometimes a creative symbolization of losses can take place as the collective makes space for emotional holding. This is indeed rare but not impossible. The present writing dwells on one such collective—the Tibetans housed in India with whom I have worked closely for long as a psychoanalytic researcher. The following account highlights certain ways in which the trauma of uprootedness offsets transgenerational crises and how an exodus acknowledges its past such that a simultaneous remembering and mourning of psychic pain and the carving out of hope is kept alive, especially for those who were exposed to the trials of violent displacement in childhood. Drawing from their inspiring movement that remains imbued by a Buddhist perspective, I also look forward to sharing a few thoughts on healing possibilities which hold restorative value for not only the Tibetans but humanity at large. In a fragmented world torn by the powerful aspiration of each country to become a mighty nation, the Buddhist stress on ‘non-self’ and universal responsibility offers a unique imagination of the ‘nation’ and important insights related to non-violence, forgiveness, compassion, selfhood, and a non-antagonistic relationship with the other—one’s perpetrator. It is of significance to note that such an ambiance is held in place by an attuned spiritual leader, the fourteenth Dalai Lama who mitigates the despair of generations by playing the role of a ‘transitional’ and ‘transformative object’. This writing also dwells on the role of a psychoanalytic researcher as an empathetic witness, a psychic container and a co-traveller.

This research aim to (1) Knowing the process of making a modified bustier kebaya; (2) Knowing the effect of a modified bustier kebaya with a so-en system technique on the level of comfort in terms of the position of the kebaya fitting factor; (3) Knowing the most preferred modified kebaya by consumers. This research is a true experimental study with a post test only control design. The data collection technique used is through observation sheets and questionnaires (anget). The assessment was carried out by five panelists to find out the position of the kebaya fitting facto analysis technique used was an independent T-test conducted to see the effect of a modified bustier kebaya on the level of comfort in terms of the position of the fitting factor. The preference level test for the product was carried out through a questionnaire with 20 target user respondents. The results showed: Modified bustier fitting kebaya (Design 1) got an average score of 3.88 (VERY GOOD), modified bustier fitted fitting (Design 2) got an average score of 3.81 (VERY GOOD), and modified fitting with a bustier separately (Design 3) get an average value of 3.06 (GOOD). The most preferred modified kebaya product by consumers is Design 1 which shows that the average voter is 39%, Design 2 gets a score of 37% and Design 3 gets a score of 24%.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pemanfaatan media audio Gelaria dalam menstimulasikemampuan seni dan fisik motorik anak usia dini. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian evaluasi dengan teknik surveydi 8 propinsi, yaitu: DIY, Sulawesi Barat, NTT, Jawa Barat, Bengkulu, Jawa Timur, Banten, dan Kalimantan Selatan.Teknik sampling menggunakan purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel 24 guru dan 80 anak didik. Judul mediaaudio Gelaria yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran yaitu “Angsa”. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasipemanfaatan model, kuesioner tentang pemanfaatan Gelaria untuk pendidik PAUD, dan lembar pengamatan surveyor.Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif untuk menafsirkan data tentang ketercapaian tujuan pengembangan model.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) siswa dapat menyanyikan lagu sesuai nada dan irama musik dengan baik (85%);dan 2) siswa dapat melakukan gerakan sesuai lirik lagu dan irama musik dengan baik (85%). Gerakan yang dilakukanberagam, mulai dari menggerakkan kepala sampai menggerakkan kaki. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan jenis-jenisgerakan yang siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam melakukannya. Berdasar hasil penelitian saran yang perlu ditindaklanjutiyaitu Gelaria perlu dikembangkan lebih lanjut dengan jenis gerakan yang lebih bervariasi dan simpel serta lagu yangmudah dihafalkan oleh anak usia dini. Gelaria perlu dikembangkan lebih lanjut agar kemampuan fisik motorik anakdapat distimulasi dengan tepat dan membantu guru yang kesulitan dalam menumbuhkembangkan fisik motorik anak.Kata Kunci: evaluasi, seni, fisik motorik, media audio Gelaria.Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the use of audio media Gelaria in stimulating artistic ability and physical motorskills of young children. This study is the evaluation of the survey technique in 8 provinces of Yogyakarta, WestSulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, West Java, Bengkulu, East Java, Banten and South Kalimantan. The sampling techniqueused purposive sampling with a sample of 24 teachers and 80 students. Title Gelaria audio media used in the learningof “Angsa”. Data collection techniques with the use of a model observation, a questionnaire on the use Gelaria forearly childhood educators, and surveyor observation sheet. The data were analyzed descriptively to interpret data onthe achievement of the objectives of model development. The results showed: 1) students can sing songs to suit thetone and rhythm of the music with a good (85%); and 2) students can perform corresponding movements song lyricsand rhythm of the music with a good (85%). Movements performed diverse, ranging from moving the head to move thelegs. The results also suggest the kinds of movements that students have difficulty in doing so. Based on the resultsof research that need to be followed that advice Gelaria should be developed further with more varied types ofmovement and is simple and easy songs memorized by younger children. Gelaria need to be developed further sothat the physical capabilities of the child’s motor can be stimulated with the right and help teachers develop physicalmotor difficulties in children.Keywords: evaluation, art, physical motor skills,, audio media Gelaria.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan alat tambal ban portable yang layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran perbaikan ban. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian pengembangan (R&D) yang diadopsi dari Richey and Klein dengan tahapan pengembangan model, validasi internal dan validasi eksternal. Subyek penelitian yang digunakan adalah 4 mekanik dan siswa SMK Kompetensi Keahlian Teknik Sepeda Montor (TSM) yang berjumlah 70 siswa. Sedangkan obyek penelitian dilaksanakan di Astra Honda Yogyakarta, Yamaha Mataram Sakti dan SMK Muhammadiyah Salam. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket media dan angat tanggapan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alat tambal ban portable layak digunakan dengan hasil validasi produk dari Astra Honda 90,67%. dan 88,78% dari Yamaha. Tanggapan siswa menunjukkan hasil bahwa siswa sangat setuju Alat Tambal Ban Portable menjadi media pembelajaran dengan skor 4,08. ABSTRACTThis study aims to develop a portable tire patching device which is suitable as a learning media for tire repairing. The design of this study used a research and development (R&D) design adopted from Richey and Klein with the stages of model development, internal validation and external validation. The research subjects were 4 mechanics and 70 vocational school students major in motorcycle engineering. While the object of research was carried out at Astra Honda Yogyakarta, Yamaha Mataram Sakti and SMK Muhammadiyah Salam. The data collection techniques used media questionnaires and the response of students. The results showed that portable tire patching tool was suitable to use with the product validation result from Astra Honda 90.67%. and 88.78% of Yamaha. The student responses showed the results that students strongly agreed Portable Tire Patching Tool became learning media with a score of 4.08.

Анотація:
This study aims to produce teaching material products in the form of poetry writing modules based on character values in the lyrics of the song Rafly Kande and describe their eligibility. The development module makes it easier for students to learn about writing poetry. This research uses research and development methods or Research and Development (R & D). The product that was developed based on preliminary research is the character development writing module based on character values in the lyrics of the song Rafly Kande for grade VIII students which contains poetry understanding materials, poetry builder's elements, character values, character values in the Rafly Kande song. The test subjects in this research development are subject matter experts, namely material experts, design experts and teachers. As well as the subject of students of class VIII Madrasah Tsanawiyah Private Geudubang Aceh Langsa as prospective module users. The determination of the subject was carried out by random sampling, consisting of 3 students for individual tests, 9 students for small group tests and 32 students for limited field tests. Data collection techniques are done by anget. This questionnaire is used to assess modules developed from the aspects of module completeness, material content and physical appearance of the module. The results showed that in the individual test the writing module of poetry based on character values in the lyrics of the song Rafly Kande was included in the feasible category after the revision, the result of the development module was included in the small group test and the result of the development module was in the very feasible category in the limited field test. Thus, the development module for writing character-based poems in the lyrics of the song Rafly Kande for students of class VIII results of this development is appropriate for students to use.

The Covid-19 pandemic has stopped community activities. Since last March, various aspects of life in this country have been suspended animation to remote areas including Jambi Province. The stretching routine that fades during the corona pandemic has slowed down the economy. In Jambi, the indicator for the decline in the economic graph can be seen from the shift in the value of inflation / deflation, which reflects movements in the prices of goods / services on the market. A horticultural commodity that is widely developed and is one of the people's needs is red chili. This has resulted in the level of demand for red chili that continues to occur, and at certain times the price of red chili has increased, for example in the new year or during the Eid al-Fitr. This study aims to see the development of the price of large red chilies and curly red chilies and to analyze the differences in price fluctuations of large red chilies and curly red chilies in the city of Jambi. This research was carried out during the Covid 19 pandemic. The study focused on the description of the price of large and curly red chilies in the Angso Duo market, the Talang Banjar market and the Simpang Pulai market. The data collected is a time series in the form of data on the price development of chilies from January to June 2020. The data collected is secondary data in this study, obtained from literature and related agencies, namely the Department of Industry and Trade, Market Service, Central Agency Statistics. In this study using a desk study data collection method. The results showed that in general at the beginning of 2020 there was a difference in the price of curly red chilies in Jambi City from Rp. 40,467, - / kg and there was a decrease to Rp. 15,647, - / kg in June with a decrease of about 61%. This price reduction also applies to large red chilies, which decreased by 55% from Rp. 30,500, - / kg in January to Rp. 13. 647, - / kg in June. The coefficient of variance of large red chilies is 0.38 while curly red chilies are 0.40. The coefficient of variance in plain view shows a difference where the coefficient of variance of the price of curly red chilies is higher than the coefficient of variance of the price of large red chilies. but statistically these two variance coefficients do not show a significant difference.

Sasaran Penelitian ini adalah pemilik dan perajinLimbah Kayu Jati Dan Akar Bambu Di Flodista Bale Roso Tamansari Bondowoso. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan kepustakaan. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis dengan caraanalisis domaindan analisis taksonomi. Tamansari Bondowoso, (3) to find out the types and results of the products of the Combination of Teak Wood Waste and Bamboo Roots at Flodista Bale Roso Tamansari Bondowoso. The target of this research is the owners and craftsmen of Teak Wood and Bamboo Root Waste at Flodista Bale Roso Tamansari Bondowoso. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, documentation, and literature. The collected data is then analyzed by means of domain analysis and taxonomic analysis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) keberadaan kerajinan cor kuningan di Desa Cindogo, Kabupaten Bondowoso, (2) alat dan bahan yang digunakan dalam pembuatan kerajinan cor kuningan di Desa Cindogo, Kabupaten Bondowoso, (3 proses pembuatan kerajinan cor kuningan di Desa Cindogo, Kabupaten Bondowoso. (4) Jenis kerajinan yang dihasilkan dari kerajinan cor kuningan di Desa Cindogo, Kabupaten Bondowoso. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian ini menujukkan (1) Keberadaan kerajinan cor kuningan yang merupakan kerajinan turun – temurun. Awal pembuatan kerajinan masih sangat sederhana dan pengerjaanya menggunakan alat tradisional. Pada tahun 1990 hingga sekarang perajin kuningan di Desa Cindogo Bondowoso mengalami kemajuan, alat yang digunakan sudah mengalami perubahan (modern), barang-barang yang dihasilkan semakin bervariasi.(2) alat dan bahan yang digunakan dalam pembuatan kerajinan cor kuningan antara lain: cetakan, penjepit, pengasah, saringan, tungku api, palu, gerinda, kowi, blower, kikir, pahat kuningan, spidol, mesin las listrik, mesin poles, mesin bor tangan, kompresor, kuas lukis, blender, tang, gunting kuningan, ampelas, lem kuning, batu hijau, gelput dan bahan yang digunakan adalah logam kuningan, malan, tanah liat, pasir halus, cat minyak, arang halus, serbuk brown, thinner, dan clear. (3) proses pembuatan kerajinan kuningan meliputi pembentukan cetakan, pelapisan, pemopokan, penjemuran, pembakaran dan peleburan, pengecoran, perbaikan, pengikiran, pembuatan motif (sketsa), mengukir, pemolesan, pewarnaan, dan finisihing. (4) jenis kerajinan kuningan yang dihasilkan antara lain: (fungsional) cetakan kue, nampan, kinangan (tempat menyirih), pot bunga, lampu tidur.
