This study aims to find out understanding and analyzing the forms of code mixing, the types and factors of code mixing happened in this book was written by Mindy Mot. The technique of data collection used literate study. The method of this research used descriptive qualitative method. The object of this research is “The Mindy Cake & Cookies” as a recipe book written by Mindy Mot. The result showed that there were words and phrases form of code mixing in the recipe book “Mindy Cake & Cookies” by Mindy Mot. The type of code mixing in this book was named as code mixing out. In this book, there was no mixed code found because Mindy Mot did not insert the regional languages in her book. The writing of the recipe book used Indonesian which was inserted into English therefore it was found an only code mixing out. The factors caused the mixing of codes in “Mindy Cake & Cookies” recipe book by Mindy Mot are the perception of the author’s language background, language dominance, language attitude, psycholinguistic motivation, commercialization for the target market.

The object of this research is the analysis of specificity of gustatory preference of Salvador Dali that allows reconstructing gastronomic code of the genius. The results of analysis demonstrate that Dalian gastronomic code is based on the principles of legitimacy, hierarchy and mysticism. Legitimacy is expressed in the precision of the shapes of ingredients and their compatibility, carefully following the recipe, prevalence of the dishes of Catalonian cuisine. Hierarchy of gastronomic practices in life of the genius was associated with his dietary regime and its quality, as well as knowledge of gastronomic preferences. The process of saturation and appearance of delicacies, erotic component of food underlines the mystical component of gastronomic culture of the genius. Overall, the gastronomic code of Salvador Dali demonstrates Cosmo-Psycho-Logos of the artist, structuring at the intersection of emotional and rational, material and spiritual components of gastronomic culture. The indicated problematic is viewed on the basis of culturological analysis of diary notes and recipe book of Salvador Dali, which help to determine the peculiarities of his gastronomic taste and reconstruct his gastronomic code. This article is first to reconstruct the gastronomic code of Salvador Dali and his key elements (legitimacy, hierarchy, and mysticism). The acquired results can be used in further research dedicated to studying personality and works of Salvador Dali, as well as in analysis of individual gastronomic codes that allow bringing more details into psychological characteristics of personality.

Calculation of recipes of dough for bakery products is a significant and routine operation. Doughing is the main stage of technological process in bakery production. The quality of both the dough and the final product is caused by baking properties of flour and also a ratio of water, yeast, salt, sugar and cooking fat. The recipe of a bakery product is developed for the purpose of its production with the required properties due to assigned amount of components. Development of the automated calculator for calculation and correction of the recipes of bakery products is explained by the bakery technologist’s daily need in calculating the amount of components. Basic data for calculation are type, quantity and humidity of the main (flour, grain products) and additional components (sugar, butter, cocoa and others), amount of flour which is used for preparation of ferment. The technique of calculation of recipes of fermented dough and non-fermented dough is considered. There are panels for the choice of a way of doughing, for setting the amount of flour and grain products, and other components, setting additional data, and the result of calculation of recipes. The data found during the calculation of the recipe of bakery products come to the database and are used for controlling the recipes, for proper dosing. The programming language JavaScript with jQuery library is chosen. Programming is carried out in free source code editor Notepad++ The source code editor developed on the basis of Java technology has a number of advantages for industrial consumers. The main advantages are independence of the hardware platform and the operating system. Besides, development of the automated online calculator accessible on any personal computer connected to Internet network simplifies considerably the technologist’s work.

Middle English Medical Recipes: A Metadiscursive Approach This paper seeks to explore Middle English medical recipes from a metadiscursive perspective. This study will draw on Hyland's (2005) metadiscourse model where code glosses, endophoric markers, evidentials, frame markers and transition markers are included in the interactive dimension, and attitude markers, boosters, engagement markers, hedges and self mention are to be found within interactional metadiscourse. I shall apply this framework for the identification and analysis of data in a corpus which comprises a selection of recipes taken from both Middle English Medical Texts (Taavitsainen - Pahta - Mäkinen 2005) and The corpus of early English recipes. The metadiscursive approach to the study of medical recipes will allow us to establish links between authors, texts and audience of the recipe genre and, consequently, to affirm their status as products of social engagement.

The purpose of this research is motivated by the development of mangosteen skin research. Many beneficial ingredients contained in mangosteen peel, such as xanthon which is anti-cancer and anti-oxidant and very beneficial for one's health. The use of mangosteen peel in making steamed batik sponges is as a coloring agent while it is expected to provide benefits when consuming steamed batik sponges. The selection of steamed sponge batik is an appointment of local culture and introduces to tourists. The research method used was an experimental method of adding mangosteen peel to a randomly designed steamed sponge mixture. To test prescription formulations and product quality using organoleptic tests, hedonic tests and consumer acceptance tests. The number of samples used in this study were 15 expert panelists consisting of chefs, academics and practitioners, in addition to general panelists or as many as 100 respondents who were randomly selected. In this study there were three prescription formulations for sample code, namely BKBKM 1 recipe formulation (6% mangosteen skin addition), BKBKM 2 recipe formulation (8% mangosteen skin addition) and BKBKM 3 recipe form (10% mangosteen skin addition). Three recipe formulations were tested on 15 expert panelists who would then produce the most preferred recipe formulations. The recipe from BKBKM 3 is the most preferred recipe formulation. Next, the BKBKM 3 recipe formulation is tested again to respondents or consumers to find out the acceptance test for innovative products. After that, the product is stored at room temperature and in the refrigerator to find out how long the product is safe for consumption.

The use of smart contracts and blockchain tokens to implement a consumer trustworthy ingredient certification scheme for commingled foods, i.e., recipe based, food products is described. The proposed framework allows ingredients that carry any desired property (including social or environmental customer perceived value) to be certified by any certification authority, at the moment of harvest or extraction, using the IGR Ethereum token. The mechanism involves the transfer of tokens containing the internet url published at the authority’s web site from the farmer all along the supply chain to the final consumer at each transfer of custody of the ingredient using the Cricital Tracking Event/Key Data Elements (CTE/KDE) philosophy of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT). This allows the end consumer to easily inspect and be assured of the origin of the ingredient by means of a mobile application. A successful code implementation of the framework was deployed, tested and is running as a beta version on the Ethereum live blockchain as the IGR token. The main contribution of the framework is the possibility to ensure the true origin of any instance or lot of ingredient within a recipe to the customer, without harming the food processor legitimate right to protect its recipes and suppliers.

One of the most exotic and little-known ritual foods of the Greek community in Sozopol for the so-called damgi (the stamp) - a special kind of fried cakes, which until almost the end of the twentieth century were prepared only here, only by the Greek urban community and only for weddings. Over the years, however, the scope of their preparation and supply has expanded. From ritual props, they become one of the culinary emblems of Sozopol and seduce tourists visiting the city during the active season. In order to preserve the unique recipe and local rituals related to the stamps, a special "Damga Festival" has been established in the Black Sea resort for several years, which aims to preserve and promote this part of the "delicious heritage" of Sozopol. But a well-conceived festival is at the center of old ethnic disputes.

Case overview Two fellow students at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Wen-Szu Lin and Joseph Sze, reconnected after finishing their MBAs and decided to launch a franchise together in China. The franchise they decided upon was Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. The company had experienced strong growth in Asia with over 85 stores in Thailand, 30 stores in Korea, 25 stores in Malaysia and 8 stores in Japan. Because of these successes, Win and Sze had forecast smooth sailing for their franchise in Beijing. However, things were not as smooth as they had expected. The first challenge was the impounding of their second shipment of pretzel mix for a few weeks. Other problems that they faced had to do with Lin’s inability to write Chinese, although he could speak the language, the lack of regulation of food and ingredients in China which led to their producing some poisonous products, and problems they had with their own employees. Lin and Sze were searching for ways to overcome the cultural and other challenges they faced in Beijing with their franchise. Expected learning outcomes At the conclusion of the case discussion, students should be able to identify the appropriate global strategy for Auntie Anne’s in China; identify whether Lin and Szu were intending to use a production orientation or the marketing concept in introducing Auntie Anne’s Pretzels into China; list and describe challenges the two entrepreneurs encountered in China; develop a list of actions that American businesspeople should follow in anticipating setting up a business in China; and outline a strategy for Lin and Szu to use in attempting to save the Auntie Anne Pretzel franchise in China. In the field of time series analysis, there is not a unique recipe for studying signal similarities. When having the repetition of a pattern, averaging different signals of the same nature could be complicated. Sometimes averaging is essential in the analysis of the data. Here we propose a method to align and average segments of time series with similar patterns. For this procedure, a simple implementation based on python code is provided. This analysis was inspired by the study of canary sound syllables, but it is possible to apply it in semi-periodic signals of different nature, not necessarily related to sounds.

We describe a simple practical numerical method for simulating plasma driven within a vacuum chamber by a pulsed power generator. Typically, in this type of simulation, the vacuum region adjacent to the plasma is approximated as a highly resistive, light fluid; this involves computationally expensive solvers describing the diffusion of the magnetic field through this fluid. Instead, we provide a recipe for coupling pulsed power generators to the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) domain by approximating the perfectly insulating vacuum as a light, perfectly conducting, inviscid MHD fluid and discuss the applicability of this counter-intuitive technique. This much more affordable ideal MHD representation is particularly useful in situations where a plasma exhibits interesting three-dimensional phenomena, either due to the design of the experiment or due to developing instabilities. We verified that this coupling recipe works by modeling an exactly solvable flux compression generator as well as a self-similar Noh-like solution and demonstrated convergence to the theoretical solution. We also showed examples of simulating complex three-dimensional pulsed power devices with this technique. This article concerns culinary motifs found in popular women’s fiction at the turnof the 20th and 21st centuries. Women’s fiction is either indifferent to culinary topicsor interested in them as a theme, metaphor or recipe. Culinary topics as the main themeappear in novels written by Kalicińska, Enerlich, and Ficner-Ogonowska. I. Sowa employsa culinary code as a metaphor for contemporary urban life style which is marked byconsumerism, excess of consumer goods and an intense rivalry. Kalicińska’s novel cycleis an example of downshifting narratives appreciated by some feminists as a way topromote ecology and a women’s community. Culinary novels authored by Enerlich andOgonowska do not popularize the culinary culture, but rather commercialize it.

ABSTRACT Transit and Light Curve Modeller (TLCM), a computer code with the purpose of analysing photometric time series of transits simultaneously with the out-of-transit light variations and radial velocity curves of transiting/eclipsing binary systems, is presented here. Joint light-curve and radial velocity fits are possible with it. The code is based on the combination of a genetic algorithm and simulated annealing. Binning, beaming, reflection, and ellipsoidal effects are included. Both objects may have their own luminosities and therefore one can use TLCM to analyse the eclipses of both exoplanet and well-detached binary systems. A simplified Rossiter–McLaughlin effect is included in the radial velocity fit, and drifts and offsets of different instruments can also be fitted. The impact of poorly known limb darkening on the Rossiter–McLaughlin effect is shortly studied. TLCM is able to manage red-noise effects via wavelet analysis. It is also possible to add parabolic or user-defined baselines and features to the code. I also predict that light variations due to beaming in some systems exhibiting radial velocity drift should be observed by, e.g. PLATO. The fit of the beaming effect is improved by invoking a physical description of the ellipsoidal effects, which has an impact on the modelling of the relativistic beaming; I also point out the difficulties that are stemming from the fact that beaming and first-order reflection effects have the same form of time dependence. Recipe is given, which describes how to analyse grazing transit events. The code is freely available.

The Poisson equation frequently emerges in many fields of science and engineering. As exact solutions are rarely possible, numerical approaches are of great interest. Despite this, a succinct discussion of a systematic approach to constructing a flexible and general numerical Poisson solver can be difficult to find. In this introductory paper, a comprehensive discussion is presented on how to build a finite difference matrix solver that can solve the Poisson equation for arbitrary geometry and boundary conditions. The boundary conditions are implemented in a systematic way that enables easy modification of the solver for different problems. An image-based geometry-definition approach is also discussed. Python code of the numerical recipe is made publicly available. Numerical examples are presented that show how to set up the solver for different problems.

In this paper, we report structural analysis, ferroelectric behavior and electronic structure of Sr 2 ZrTiO 6 double perovskite. Samples were produced by the solid state reaction recipe. Crystallographic analysis was performed by Rietveld refinement of experimental X-ray diffraction patterns. Results show that this material crystallizes in a tetragonal perovskite structure which corresponds to the space group I4/m. The curve of polarization as a function of applied voltage evidences a ferroelectric character with saturation polarization on the application of voltages up to 1800 V. Calculations of density of states and band structure for this manganite-like material were carried out by means of the density functional theory implemented into the Wien2k code. Results of total and partial density of states reveal the insulator character of this material with an energy gap of 2.66 eV.

The AUSNUT 2011–13 food composition database was expanded to include Australian choline values. The development began with a systematic literature review of published studies. Analytical data from the food studies were extracted and aligned with their equivalent AUSNUT food identification code. Global food composition databases containing choline values were matched to the remaining AUSNUT food codes, following the FAO INFOODS food matching guidelines, including adjustments for moisture and protein composition. Composite foods, and not further-specified foods, were developed using the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) recipe files. The completed choline database was then employed to analyse the Australian National Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey 2011–12, with population and sampling weightings applied. Survey respondents were classified into categories based on their level of choline intake and compared with the Australian Adequate Intake levels. Food sources of intake were also explored. Multiple linear regression models were developed for food group contributors to choline intake. Mean choline intakes varied from 151.50 mg for pregnant 14–18 years old, to 310.54 mg for 19–64 year old males. Less than 10% of the population by age and gender were achieving the Adequate Intake for choline. Eggs and their contributing food groups were the top ranked food sources of choline for the population.

ABSTRACT We test the history of structure formation from redshift 1 to today by matching galaxies from the VIMOS Public Extragalactic Redshift Survey (VIPERS) and Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) with dark matter haloes in the MultiDark, Small MultiDark Planck (SMDPL), N-body simulation. We first show that the standard subhalo abundance matching (SHAM) recipe implemented with MultiDark fits the clustering of galaxies well both at redshift 0 for SDSS and at redshift 1 for VIPERS. This is an important validation of the SHAM model at high redshift. We then remap the simulation time steps to test alternative growth histories and infer the growth index γ = 0.6 ± 0.3. This analysis demonstrates the power of using N-body simulations to forward model galaxy surveys for cosmological inference. The data products and code necessary to reproduce the results of this analysis are available online (https://github.com/darklight-cosmology/vipers-sham).

ABSTRACT We compare the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) and inferred physical properties for simulated and observed galaxies at low redshift. We exploit UV-submillimetre mock fluxes of ∼7000 z = 0 galaxies from the EAGLE suite of cosmological simulations, derived using the radiative transfer code skirt. We compare these to ∼800 observed galaxies in the UV-submillimetre range, from the DustPedia sample of nearby galaxies. To derive global properties, we apply the SED fitting code cigale consistently to both data sets, using the same set of ∼80 million models. The results of this comparison reveal overall agreement between the simulations and observations, both in the SEDs and in the derived physical properties, with a number of discrepancies. The optical and far-infrared regimes, and the scaling relations based upon the global emission, diffuse dust, and stellar mass, show high levels of agreement. However, the mid-infrared fluxes of the EAGLE galaxies are overestimated while the far-UV domain is not attenuated enough, compared to the observations. We attribute these discrepancies to a combination of galaxy population differences between the samples and limitations in the subgrid treatment of star-forming regions in the EAGLE-skirt post-processing recipe. Our findings show the importance of detailed radiative transfer calculations and consistent comparison, and provide suggestions for improved numerical models.

Ellerman bombs are transient brightenings in the wings of Hα 6563 Å that pinpoint photospheric sites of magnetic reconnection in solar active regions. Their partial visibility in the 1600 Å and 1700 Å continua registered routinely by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) offers a unique opportunity to inventory such magnetic-field disruptions throughout the AIA database if a reliable recipe for their detection can be formulated. This is done here. We have improved and applied an Hα Ellerman bomb detection code to ten data sets spanning viewing angles from solar disc centre to the limb. They combine high-quality Hα imaging spectroscopy from the Swedish 1 m Solar Telescope with simultaneous AIA imaging around 1600 Å and 1700 Å. A trial grid of brightness, lifetime and area constraints is imposed on the AIA images to define optimal recovery of the 1735 Ellerman bombs detected in Hα. The best results when optimising simultaneously for recovery fraction and reliability are obtained from 1700 Å images by requiring 5σ brightening above the average 1700 Å nearby quiet-Sun intensity, lifetime above one minute, area of 1–18 AIA pixels. With this recipe 27% of the AIA detections are Hα-detected Ellerman bombs while it recovers 19% of these (of which many are smaller than the AIA resolution). Better yet, among the top 10% AIA 1700 Å detections selected with combined brightness, lifetime and area thresholds as many as 80% are Hα Ellerman bombs. Automated selection of the best 1700 Å candidates therefore opens the entire AIA database for detecting most of the more significant photospheric reconnection events. This proxy is applicable as a flux-dynamics tell-tale in studying any Earth-side solar active region since early 2010 up to the present.

From time to time technological advances have a rapid impact on all sectors, both private and government agencies, including the health sector. One form of service in the health sector that can utilize information technology is the manufacture of electronic drug prescriptions that can be sent via an application from a doctor to a pharmacist. The frequent misuse of prescription drugs by unauthorized persons, as well as errors by officers at the pharmacy in reading prescriptions can be fatal for the community, so a solution is needed to overcome this problem. This application is designed using the Hill Cipher Algorithm which is one of the classic types of algorithms in the field of cryptography, but to get the maximum level of security, the algorithm key will be modified using a postal code pattern as a matrix key. Broadly speaking, the Encryption Stage is the first starting from the plaintext which is the type of drug and drug dose, the second key matrix using a POS code pattern, the three plaintexts are converted into blocks, the fourth is arranged into a 2x2 matrix, the fifth is multiplied between the key and the sixth plaintext is multiplied into mod 26 to generate an encrypted ciphertext or recipe. The success rate of system functionality testing using the blackbox method is 100%

Ecological research, just as all Earth System Sciences, is becoming increasingly data-rich. Tools for processing of “big data” are continuously developed to meet corresponding technical and logistical challenges. However, even at smaller scales, data sets may be challenging when best practices in data exploration, quality control and reproducibility are to be met. This can occur when conventional methods, such as generating and assessing diagnostic visualizations or tables, become unfeasible due to time and practicality constraints. Interactive processing can alleviate this issue, and is increasingly utilized to ensure that large data sets are diligently handled. However, recent interactive tools rarely enable data manipulation, may not generate reproducible outputs, or are typically data/domain-specific. We developed datacleanr, an interactive tool that facilitates best practices in data exploration, quality control (e.g., outlier assessment) and flexible processing for multiple tabular data types, including time series and georeferenced data. The package is open-source, and based on the R programming language. A key functionality of datacleanr is the “reproducible recipe”—a translation of all interactive actions into R code, which can be integrated into existing analyses pipelines. This enables researchers experienced with script-based workflows to utilize the strengths of interactive processing without sacrificing their usual work style or functionalities from other (R) packages. We demonstrate the package’s utility by addressing two common issues during data analyses, namely 1) identifying problematic structures and artefacts in hierarchically nested data, and 2) preventing excessive loss of data from ‘coarse,’ code-based filtering of time series. Ultimately, with datacleanr we aim to improve researchers’ workflows and increase confidence in and reproducibility of their results.

Abstract This article looks into fictitious meals and the use of culinary recipe form in experimental and procedural literature, namely, works of constrained writing associated with OuLiPo (Ouvroir de Littérature Potentielle). The recipe form is first scrutinized from the procedural, structural, and historical viewpoints, also concerning its lesser-known imaginative and esoteric genealogy. In addition, its connections to the notions of narrativity and fiction are discussed. The recipe's relationship to action is depicted by a simple procedural model. There is a metaphorical and conceptual, but also formal and operational, similarity between the coded procedures of cooking and writing. A recipe is a procedure, a script for an infinity of possible meals, and a literary procedure is a recipe for writing. It is not surprising, then, that Oulipian writers have utilized the recipe form in their food-related works. Four such literary recipes (by Georges Perec, Jacques Roubaud, Harry Mathews, and Alastair Brotchie) are closely examined, after discussion of key concepts of Oulipian poetics from the culinary viewpoint. The article's special point of reference is the parodic, satirical, absurd, and other humorous meanings that literary recipes often seem to produce, which is linked to the operational and structural dimensions of the recipe—its comically posited procedural form.

The author outlines that in “current modernity” (Z. Bauman), among the urgent problems of research, one can name tradition, which is the foundation of culture. Many of its components are among those that are difficult to comprehend, and national cuisine is among them. Methods of research. In the presented article, national cuisine is examined through the prism of an analytical method that allows you to identify authentic ways of studying and showing its versatility. In the course of the research, a theoretical analysis of the methodological basis for the study of national cuisine as a phenomenon of gastronomic culture was carried out. It is noted that being a unique phenomenon of the traditional ethnic culture, national cuisine has its own gastronomic code and contains information about the specifics of the people’s life, encrypted through processes related to food and its preparation. The author pays special attention to the fact that the most effective methods of researching national cuisine are structural, phenomenological and hermeneutic. They help to identify designs and highlight the structural components of national cuisine (culinary culture, culture of eating and gastronomic reflection), study and analyze them with the help of feelings and experience as a direct connection to each of them, comprehend the process of cooking based on the culinary recipe and the process of tasting, reveal the symbolic meanings of the elements of national cuisine and establish their origins. Results of research. The simultaneous use of phenomenological, structural and hermeneutic methods contributes to the comprehension of the gastronomic code of the people and the peculiarities of their cuisine. The knowledge gained allows us to interpret not only the secrets of national cuisine, but also the history and culture of the ethnos from new perspectives.

Context. Dust attenuation shapes the spectral energy distribution of galaxies. It is particularly true for dusty galaxies in which stars experience a heavy attenuation. The combination of UV to IR photometry with the spectroscopic measurement of the Hα recombination line helps to quantify dust attenuation of the whole stellar population and its wavelength dependence. Aims. We want to derive the shape of the global attenuation curve and the amount of obscuration affecting young stars or nebular emission and the bulk of the stellar emission in a representative sample of galaxies selected in IR. We will compare our results to the commonly used recipes of Calzetti et al. and Charlot and Fall, and to predictions of radiative transfer models. Methods. We selected an IR complete sample of galaxies in the COSMOS 3D-HST CANDELS field detected with the Herschel satellite with a signal to noise ratio larger than five. Optical to NIR photometry is available as well as NIR spectroscopy for each source. We reduced the sample to the redshift range 0.6 < z < 1.6 to include the Hα line in the G141 grism spectra. We have used a new version of the CIGALE code to fit simultaneously the continuum and Hα line emission of the 34 selected galaxies. Results. Using flexible attenuation laws with free parameters, we are able to measure the shape of the attenuation curve for each galaxy as well as the amount of attenuation of each stellar population, the former being in general steeper than the starburst law in the UV-optical with a large variation of the slope among galaxies. The attenuation of young stars or nebular continuum is found on average about twice the attenuation affecting older stars, again with a large variation. Our model with power-laws, based on a modification of the Charlot and Fall recipe, gives results in better agreement with the radiative transfer models than the global modification of the slope of the Calzetti law.

Azelaic (AZ) acid is a non antibiotic drug used for an acne treatment. The AZ dry emulsion power was prepared by mixing power of AZ with dry emulsion base. The 20% AZ cream was obtained by addition of water into powder mixture with a ratio of 1:1 by weight. The dry emulsion base consisted of virgin coconut oil with an emulsifier, hydroxyproplymethylcellulose (HPMC). The physical properties of each primary coconut oil emulsion (COE) were evaluated as percent creaming, theirs viscosity and particle sizes. The results were shown that the emulsion system of 7.5% HPMC provided the suitable formulas with oil droplet particle size 1.23 ± 8.15 micrometer and its viscosity of 30405.02 ± 480.58 cps. After drying process, the moisture content of coconut oil dry emulsion (CODE) was 2.94%. The yield percentage of dry powder was 58%. Moreover, the flowability of dry emulsion powder was appeared to be fair (with an angle of repose of 35.35). After dry emulsion powder mixing with 20 % AZ and water, the AZ cream was appeared to be stable for at least one week with no significantly different in pH and amount of AZ. Thus AZ dry emulsion preparation could be used an alternative recipe for acne treatment with good stability during one week after reconstitution.

Abstract This paper presents the preliminary results of a study on the untitled and unpublished recipe book transmitted by the codex conv.soppr.F.VIII.1834 (Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze), previously conserved in the library of the convent of the Most Holy Annunciation (Florence); the codex contains both culinary recipes and «secrets». We argue that the composition of the manuscript took place in the second half of the seventeenth century (§§2‒3) and was carried out by multiple authors (§4). Subsequently, we analyse its main linguistic features, with particular regard to orthographical instability and morphological variation (§5). Finally, we investigate the main sources of the cookbook (§6), examining in detail some recipes taken from Bartolomeo Scappi’s Opera.

Context. Stars with masses in excess of 100 M⊙ are observed in the Local Universe, but they remain rare objects. Because of the shape of the mass function, they are expected to be present only in the most massive and youngest clusters. They may thus be formed in number in highly star-forming galaxies. Aims. Very massive stars (VMSs) experience strong stellar winds that are stronger than those of their less massive OB-type counterparts. These strong winds therefore need to be taken into account in evolutionary models and synthetic spectra to properly predict the appearance of VMS. Methods. We present evolutionary models computed with the code STAREVOL. They include a recent mass-loss recipe that is relevant for VMSs. We subsequently calculated atmosphere models and synthetic spectra along the resulting tracks with the code CMFGEN. We studied stars with masses between 150 and 400 M⊙ and focused on a metallicity Z = 1/2.5 Z⊙. We studied the impact of our VMS spectra on the spectral energy distribution of young starbursts. Results. We show that the optical and UV range is dominated by He II 4686 and He II 1640 emission for almost the entire main-sequence evolution of VMSs, in contrast to less massive stars. In the UV spectral range, carbon, nitrogen, and iron lines shape the spectra of VMSs, which appear for most of their evolution as WNh objects. The morphology of the synthetic spectra is similar to that of VMSs in the Large Magellanic Cloud. We show that stars with masses higher than 100 M⊙ emit nearly as much light as all other stars in young starbursts. The integrated UV spectrum of these starbursts is significantly affected by the presence of VMSs. Conclusions. We conclude that a consistent treatment of the evolution and the atmospheres of VMSs is mandatory to properly study spatially unresolved regions of intense star formation. We make our synthetic spectra and spectral energy distributions available to the community.

Fictitious recipes, impossible meals: a subgenre of comical literature The article looks into ctitious and imaginative food recipes and comical potentiality of such food related text types as listings of ingredients, foodstuffs, dishes, or portions. The focus is on imaginary, fantastic, and impossible meals and recipes: portions that could not be implemented in the real world. The recipe as a form is covered from genre-theoretical, narratological, poetic and procedural perspectives. The special point of reference is experimental literature and its interests in literary forms, rules, constraints, and procedures − the terms that could be used to define also culinary recipes as codes or scripts for cooking, just as poetic procedures can be thought of as recipes for texts. The humorous implementations found in literary texts vary from satire, logical paradoxes and conceptual incongruences to the use of powerful culinary combinations. All these speak to the reader’s personal taste, food recollections and notions of culinary categories.

The simulation of muon tomography requires a multi-directional particle source that traverses a number of horizontal detectors of limited angular acceptance that are used to track cosmic-ray muons. In this study, we describe a simple strategy that can use GEANT4 simulations to produce a hemispherical particle source. We initially generate random points on a spherical surface of practical radius by using a Gaussian distributions for the three components of the Cartesian coordinates, thereby obtaining a generating surface for the initial position of the particles to be tracked. Since we do not require the bottom half of the sphere, we take the absolute value of the vertical coordinate, resulting in a hemisphere. Next, we direct the generated particles into the target body by selectively favoring the momentum direction along the vector constructed between a random point on the hemispherical surface and the origin of the target, thereby minimizing particle loss through source biasing. We also discuss a second scheme where the coordinate transformation is performed between the spherical and Cartesian coordinates, and the above-source biasing procedure is applied to orient the generated muons towards the target. Finally, a recipe based on restrictive planes from our previous study is discussed. We implement our strategies by using G4ParticleGun in the GEANT4 code. While we apply these techniques to simulations for muon tomography via scattering, these source schemes can be applied to similar studies for atmospheric sciences, space engineering, and astrophysics where a 3D particle source is a necessity.

Photometric galaxy surveys probe the late-time Universe where the density field is highly non-Gaussian. A consequence is the emergence of the super-sample covariance (SSC), a non-Gaussian covariance term that is sensitive to fluctuations on scales larger than the survey window. In this work, we study the impact of the survey geometry on the SSC and, subsequently, on cosmological parameter inference. We devise a fast SSC approximation that accounts for the survey geometry and compare its performance to the common approximation of rescaling the results by the fraction of the sky covered by the survey, fSKY, dubbed ‘full-sky approximation’. To gauge the impact of our new SSC recipe, that we call ‘partial-sky’, we perform Fisher forecasts on the parameters of the (w0, wa)-CDM model in a 3 × 2 point analysis, varying the survey area, the geometry of the mask, and the galaxy distribution inside our redshift bins. The differences in the marginalised forecast errors –with the full-sky approximation performing poorly for small survey areas but excellently for stage-IV-like areas– are found to be absorbed by the marginalisation on galaxy bias nuisance parameters. For large survey areas, the unmarginalised errors are underestimated by about 10% for all probes considered. This is a hint that, even for stage-IV-like surveys, the partial-sky method introduced in this work will be necessary if tight priors are applied on these nuisance parameters. We make the partial-sky method public with a new release of the public code PySSC.

ABSTRACT We present infrared luminosity functions and dust mass functions for the EAGLE cosmological simulation, based on synthetic multiwavelength observations generated with the SKIRT radiative transfer code. In the local Universe, we reproduce the observed infrared luminosity and dust mass functions very well. Some minor discrepancies are encountered, mainly in the high luminosity regime, where the EAGLE-SKIRT luminosity functions mildly but systematically underestimate the observed ones. The agreement between the EAGLE-SKIRT infrared luminosity functions and the observed ones gradually worsens with increasing lookback time. Fitting modified Schechter functions to the EAGLE-SKIRT luminosity and dust mass functions at different redshifts up to z = 1, we find that the evolution is compatible with pure luminosity/mass evolution. The evolution is relatively mild: within this redshift range, we find an evolution of L⋆,250 ∝ (1 + z)1.68, L⋆,TIR ∝ (1 + z)2.51 and M⋆,dust ∝ (1 + z)0.83 for the characteristic luminosity/mass. For the luminosity/mass density we find ε250 ∝ (1 + z)1.62, εTIR ∝ (1 + z)2.35, and ρdust ∝ (1 + z)0.80, respectively. The mild evolution of the dust mass density is in relatively good agreement with observations, but the slow evolution of the infrared luminosity underestimates the observed luminosity evolution significantly. We argue that these differences can be attributed to increasing limitations in the radiative transfer treatment due to increasingly poorer resolution, combined with a slower than observed evolution of the SFR density in the EAGLE simulation and the lack of AGN emission in our EAGLE-SKIRT post-processing recipe.

Growing evidence exists for the benefits of adequate infant and young children feeding (IYCF) practices at the weaning stage (≥ 6 months), including optimal growth, building the immune system, cognitive development, healthy food preferences, and reduced mortality and morbidity rates. However, these outcomes are not universally experienced. To ensure that a developing country such as Malawi, where recent studies have shown high rates of food insecurity and malnutrition benefits from adequate IYCF, five nutrient-dense complementary foods (Recipes 1 to 5) were developed. Standardized food processing techniques were used in the preparation and combination of Malawian indigenous food samples. The developed food recipes were assessed for nutrient density and cultural acceptability through sensory evaluations. Recipe 5 emerged as the winning weaning food (WWF), with an overall acceptability rate of 65% (mean score of 5.82 ± 0.87). Unlike theoretical analysis with the ESHA Food Processor, statistical analysis did not show that Recipe 5 met the Codex Alimentarius recommendations for macro- and micronutrients. However, it showed that the micronutrient recommendations for iron (p = 0.0001; 95%CI) and zinc (p = 1.00; 95%CI) were partially met, but not those for calcium and vitamins A and D. The prototype and outcome of this pilot study will be invaluable for interventions aimed at combating food insecurity and malnutrition in Malawi.

Background: Use of International Classification of Disease (ICD) codes for traumatic brain injury (TBI) in healthcare administrative databases may underestimate the epidemiology of TBI. The present study examined the use of ICD-10 codes in a population-based New Zealand sample. Methods: TBI related ICD-codes within the New Zealand health database were examined for all incident cases from a population-based TBI sample (n = 1,369). Impact of age, gender, ethnicity, presence/absence of skull fracture, where the case was located (i.e., hospital) on receipt of an ICD code was examined. Results: Individuals who received a TBI-related ICD-code accounted for 18.6% of the studied population. The most frequent codes were brief loss of consciousness, head injury not otherwise specified, and concussion. Receipt of a code was not impacted by gender. Those with skull fracture (χ2 (1) = 69.983, p < 0.001), and/or attending hospital (χ2 (2) = 81.507, p < 0.001), and of older age (χ2 (1) = 56.473, p < 0.001) were more likely to receive a code. Conclusions: Reported incidence of TBI, when based upon health registration data, is likely to be a significant underestimate. Specific research needs to be conducted to identify the barriers to medical personnel implementing the ICD head injury codes and to identify ways in which the use of the codes can be improved.

At the enterprises of the radiochemical industry in the world, the task is to clean the technological and research equipment, overalls, and personnel from contamination with radioactive products. This task is especially relevant in case of emergencies, for example, such as an accident at a nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Japan. A review of the deactivation methods currently used is reviewed. It has been shown that the most typical pollutants are mixtures of radionuclides 137Cs, 144Ce, 144Pr, 90Sr, and 239Pu. All these elements are prone to the formation of chelate complexes. Therefore, complexing substances should be an essential component of deactivation solutions that form stable, water-soluble complex compounds with these radionuclides. When creating the recipe, we chose those complexing agents with the most persistent complex compounds with the expected pollutants. For research and testing in real conditions, we have prepared three types of technical detergents of various compositions with the code name MDS for decontaminating various surfaces, equipment, and workwear. The composition of these preparations consists mainly of an optimized mixture of surfactants, complexing agents, corrosion inhibitors, and processing aids. The studies were conducted to evaluate the possibility of using these funds for deactivation of premises, equipment, washing clothes in the Federal Unitary Enterprise "Mayak" and at its branch NIKIET in town Zarechny at Beloyarskyaya Nuclear Power Station in Russia. The effectiveness of deactivation was judged by the amount of residual contamination of the surface of the samples. The deactivating ability of MDS preparations for stainless, carbon steel, and plastic contaminated with β- and α-emitting nuclides was tested. The possibility of using MDS detergents for the deactivation of platinum ampoules stored as radioactive waste was assessed. The possibility of using MDS detergents for the deactivation of fabric materials, including underwear and work clothes, was also evaluated. The tests showed the high efficiency of the developed detergent MDS compared to the existing and currently used deactivation agents.

Abstract Objectives Socioeconomically disadvantaged populations are more likely to have both low nutrition literacy and low cooking efficacy. This combination often results in a high consumption of convenience foods that are typically energy-dense, nutrient poor, and promote the development or exacerbation of chronic disease. The objective of this study is to examine the effect of nutrition education, hands-on cooking practices, and financial incentives on grocery purchasing behaviors and diet quality in a low-income community. Methods Forty participants will receive nutrition education and hands-on cooking experiences through a 10-week nutrition education program via Zoom. An instructor will teach participants a nutrition topic and then prepare and cook a related meal with them. Participants will be notified of the recipe prior to class, and required foods will be provided for those participants who are unable to afford them. Participants will also receive discounts on food items labeled as “Live HealthSmart Foods” (LHS) at the Village Market grocery store in the East Lake neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. LHS foods include fresh, frozen or canned fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and low-fat or fat-free dairy products. Participants will use a unique pin code to receive the discount and their account will be examined for trends in their shopping behaviors. Main outcomes of interest include proportion of LHS foods purchased, dietary intake measured by a food frequency questionnaire and changes in nutrition literacy and cooking efficacy. Results Study results will indicate 1) if there is a synergistic effect of nutrition education, hands-on cooking practices, and financial incentives on grocery purchasing behaviors and 2) how the intervention influences diet quality. Conclusions Results will also inform our endeavor of expanding the territory of the Live HealthSmart food model in a randomized community-based trial investigating the intervention's potential for translation and implementation in a wider and more diverse community setting. Aims. The Herschel Extragalactic Legacy Project (HELP) focuses on the data from ESA’s Herschel mission, which covered over 1300 deg2 and is preparing to publish a multi-wavelength catalogue of millions of objects. Our main goal is to find the best approach to simultaneously fitting spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of millions of galaxies across a wide redshift range to obtain homogeneous estimates of the main physical parameters of detected infrared (IR) galaxies. Methods. We perform SED fitting on the ultraviolet(UV)/near-infrared(NIR) to far-infrared(FIR) emission of 42 047 galaxies from the pilot HELP field: ELAIS N1. To do this we use the latest release of CIGALE, a galaxy SED fitting code relying on energy balance, to deliver the main physical parameters such as stellar mass, star formation rate, and dust luminosity. We implement additional quality criteria to the fits by calculating χ2 values for the stellar and dust part of the spectra independently. These criteria allow us to identify the best fits and to identify peculiar galaxies. We perform the SED fitting of ELAIS N1 galaxies by assuming three different dust attenuation laws separately allowing us to test the impact of the assumed law on estimated physical parameters. Results. We implemented two additional quality value checks for the SED fitting method based on stellar mass estimation and energy budget. This method allows us to identify possible objects with incorrect matching in the catalogue and peculiar galaxies; we found 351 possible candidates of lensed galaxies using two complementary χ2s criteria (stellar and infrared χ2s) and photometric redshifts calculated for the IR part of the spectrum only. We find that the attenuation law has an important impact on the stellar mass estimate (on average leading to disparities of a factor of two). We derive the relation between stellar mass estimates obtained by three different attenuation laws and we find the best recipe for our sample. We also make independent estimates of the total dust luminosity parameter from stellar emission by fitting the galaxies with and without IR data separately.

Cosmological simulations describing both the evolution of supermassive black holes and their host galaxies were performed by using the tree PM-SPH code GADGET-2 (Springel 2005). Physical mechanisms affecting the dynamics and the physical conditions of the gas (ionization and cooling processes, local heating by stars, injection of mechanical energy by supernovae, chemical enrichment) were introduced in the present version of the code (Filloux 2009). Black holes in a state of accretion (AGNs) also inject mechanical energy in the surrounding medium, contributing for quenching the star formation activity. In all simulations a ΛCDM cosmology was adopted (h = 0.7, ΩΛ=0.7, Ωm=0.3, Ωb=0.046 and σ8=0.9). Simulations were performed in a volume with a side of 50h−1 Mpc, starting at z = 50 and through the present time (z = 0). For low and intermediate resolution runs, the initial gas mass particles are respectively 5.35× 108M⊙ and 3.09×108M⊙. Black holes (BHs) are represented by collisionless particles and seeds of 100 M⊙ were introduced in density peaks at z = 15, growing either by accretion or coalescence. The accretion rate from the “disk mode” is based on a turbulent viscous thin disk model whereas in the “spherical mode” the rate is given by the Bondi–Hoyle formula. When accreting matter, jets, modeled by conical regions perpendicular to the disk plane, inject kinetic energy into the surrounding medium. Two models were tested: in the first, the injected energy rate is about 10% of the gravitational energy rate released in the accretion process while in the second, the injected energy rate is based on the Blandford & Znajek (1977) mechanism. All simulations give, at z = 0, similar black hole mass function but they overestimate slightly the BH density for masses above ~ 108M⊙. The resulting BH density in this mass range is affected by feedback processes since they control the amount of gas available for accretion. The present simulations are not able to produce very massive BHs (~109M⊙) at z ~ 6. However the evolution of the BH mass density derived from our simulations are in quite good agreement with that derived from the QSO luminosity function. This indicates that our simulations reproduce quite well the average accretion rate history of BHs. Correlations between the BH mass and properties of the host galaxy (velocity dispersion for bulge systems or the stellar mass or the dark halo mass) are also well reproduced. In conclusion, these exploratory simulations reproduce the data at z = 0 quite well. However, the present adopted recipe for the accretion rate in the “disk mode” seems to be inefficient to produce massive BHs as early as z ~ 6. Higher resolution simulations including a new approach for modeling the “disk mode” are presently under way and that particular difficulty is expected to be solved.

Abstract We sought to operationalize and validate data-driven approaches for identifying transgender individuals in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) of the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through a retrospective analysis using VA administrative data from 2006–2018. Besides diagnoses of gender identity disorder (GID), a combination of non-GID data elements was used to identify potentially transgender veterans, including 1) an International Classification of Diseases (Ninth or Tenth Revision) code of endocrine disorder, unspecified or not otherwise specified; 2) receipt of sex hormones not associated with the sex documented in the veteran’s records (gender-affirming hormone therapy); and 3) a change in the veteran’s administratively recorded sex. Both GID and non-GID data elements were applied to a sample of 13,233,529 veterans utilizing the VHA of the VA between January 2006 and December 2018. We identified 10,769 potentially transgender veterans. Based on a high positive predictive value for GID-coded veterans (83%, 95% confidence interval: 77, 89) versus non–GID-coded veterans (2%, 95% confidence interval: 1, 11) from chart review validation, the final analytical sample comprised only veterans with a GID diagnosis code (n = 9,608). In the absence of self-identified gender identity, findings suggest that relying entirely on GID diagnosis codes is the most reliable approach for identifying transgender individuals in the VHA of the VA.

Purpose Administrative health data can be a valuable resource for health research. Because these data are not collected for research purposes, it is imperative that the accuracy of codes used to identify patients, exposures, and outcomes is measured. Patients and Methods Code sensitivity was determined by identifying a cohort of men with histologically confirmed prostate cancer in the Ontario Cancer Registry and linking them to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) to determine whether a prostate biopsy code had been claimed. Code specificity was estimated using a random sample of patients at The Ottawa Hospital for whom a prostate biopsy code was submitted to OHIP. A simulation model, which varied the code false-positive rate, true-negative rate, and proportion of code positives in the population, was created to determine specificity under a range of combinations of these parameters. Results Between 1991 and 2012, 97,369 of 148,669 men with histologically confirmed prostate cancer in the Ontario Cancer Registry had a prostate biopsy code in OHIP within 1 week of their diagnosis (code sensitivity, 86.0%). This increased significantly over time (63.8% in 1991 to 87.9% in 2012). The false-positive rate of the code for index prostate biopsies was 1.9%. The simulation model found that the code specificity exceeded 95% for first prostate biopsy but was lower for secondary biopsies because of more false positives. False positives primarily were related to placement of fiducial markers for patients who received radiotherapy. Conclusion Administrative data in Ontario can accurately identify men who receive a prostate biopsy. The code is less accurate for secondary biopsy procedures and their sequelae.

This scientific work is dedicated to the research of the topical issue of the procedure and time of acquisition of the right of ownership in the case of acquiring a thing by purchasing it from an unauthorized seller. Such cases are not uncommon in property circulation in society, but without proper legal regulation of their mechanisms and consequences, a significant part of things will be withdrawn from property circulation. Of course, a certain role is played here by the revived institution of acquisitive prescription, but also important importance is attached to the tools of obtaining ownership at the time of occupation of the thing in accordance with the mechanism of Art. 330 of the Central Committee of Ukraine. However, this article is in significant conflict with Art. 388 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, which regulates the procedure and grounds for vindication protection of property, which is a shortcoming of the current legislation. Therefore, the work analyzes theoretical developments in the commented direction and compares them with the practical course of concrete relations when a bona fide purchaser receives an item from a person who was not supposed to alienate the property, but did so voluntarily or involuntarily. Doctrinal approaches to the consequences of such an occupation have been studied. It was established that the good faith of the illegal expropriator does not matter, the legal consequences of such a transaction are determined based on the identity of the acquirer. If he is in good faith, which is presumed, then the acquisition of the right of ownership by acquisitive prescription can occur for a person in good faith only in the case when he owns a thing that was lost, stolen or otherwise removed from authorized subjects. In all other cases, the property is immediately acquired by a bona fide person at the time of receiving the property from an unauthorized seller. However, the author does not support the indicated approach to the acquisition of property at the moment when a bona fide subject receives property from an unauthorized seller, not as a readymade recipe, but only as a starting material for further theoretical construction. Such work was carried out in this article, specific proposals were made regarding the improvement of the current regulatory framework.

ABSTRACT We address a simple model where the Kennicutt–Schmidt (KS) relation between the macroscopic densities of star formation rate (SFR, ρsfr) and gas (n) in galactic discs emerges from self-regulation of the SFR via supernova feedback. It arises from the physics of supernova bubbles, insensitive to the microscopic SFR recipe and not explicitly dependent on gravity. The key is that the filling factor of SFR-suppressed supernova bubbles self-regulates to a constant, f ∼ 0.5. Expressing the bubble fading radius and time in terms of n, the filling factor is $f\propto S\, n^{-s}$ with s ≃ 1.5, where S is the supernova rate density. A constant f thus refers to ρsfr ∝ n1.5, with a density-independent SFR efficiency per free-fall time ∼0.01. The self-regulation to f ∼ 0.5 and the convergence to a KS relation independent of the local SFR recipe are demonstrated in cosmological and isolated-galaxy simulations using different codes and recipes. In parallel, the spherical analysis of bubble evolution is generalized to clustered supernovae, analytically and via simulations, yielding s ≃ 1.5 ± 0.5. An analysis of photoionized bubbles about pre-supernova stars yields a range of KS slopes but the KS relation is dominated by the supernova bubbles. Superbubble blowouts may lead to an alternative self-regulation by outflows and recycling. While the model is oversimplified, its simplicity and validity in the simulations may argue that it captures the origin of the KS relation.

ObjectivesCardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is the gold-standard test for the assessment of heart function. Despite its importance, many jurisdictions lack specific billing codes that can be used to identify patient receipt of CMR in administrative databases, limiting the ability to perform ‘big data’ CMR studies. Our objective was to identify the optimal billing code combination to identify patients who underwent CMR using administrative data in Ontario.DesignRetrospective cohort study.SettingQuaternary care academic referral centre in Ontario, Canada.ParticipantsWe tested all billing code combinations in order to identify the optimal one to determine receipt of CMR. The reference gold standard was a list of all cardiothoracic magnetic resonance scans performed at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2016, verified by chart audit. We assessed the diagnostic performance (accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value) for all code combinations.ResultsOur gold-standard cohort consisted of 2339 thoracic MRIs that were performed at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2016. Of these, 2139 (91.5%) were CMRs and 200 (8.5%) were chest MRIs. We identified the most accurate billing combination for the determination of patient receipt of CMR. This combination resulted in an accuracy of 95.3% (95% CI 94.4% to 96.2%), sensitivity of 97.4% (95% CI 96.6% to 98.1%), specificity of 86.4% (95% CI 83.1% to 89.6%), positive predictive value of 96.9% (95% CI 96.1% to 97.6%) and negative predictive value of 88.4% (95% CI 85.4% to 91.5%).ConclusionsOur study is the first to verify the ability to accurately identify patient receipt of CMR using administrative data, facilitating more robust population-based CMR studies in the future.

Abstract Upcoming galaxy surveys will provide us with an unprecedented view of the Large-Scale Structure of the Universe and the realistic chance to extract valuable astrophysical and cosmological information from higher-order clustering statistics. This perspective poses new challenges, requiring both accurate and efficient estimators and a renewed assessment of possible systematic errors in the theoretical models and likelihood assumptions. This work investigates these issues in relation to the analysis of the 3-point correlation function (3PCF) in configuration space. We measure the 3PCF of 300 halo catalogs from the Minerva simulations covering a total volume of 1000 h -3Gpc3. Each 3PCF measurement includes all possible triangular configurations with sides between 20 and 130h -1 Mpc. In the first place, we test different estimates of the covariance matrix, a crucial aspect of the analysis. We compare the covariance computed numerically from the limited but accurate benchmark simulations set to the one obtained from 10000 approximate halo catalogs generated with the Pinocchio code. We demonstrate that the two numerically-estimated covariance matrices largely match, confirming the validity of approximate methods based on Lagrangian Perturbation Theory for generating mocks suitable for covariance estimation. We also compare the numerical covariance with a theoretical prediction in the Gaussian approximation. We find a good match between the two for separations above 40h -1 Mpc. We test the 3PCF tree-level model in Perturbation Theory. The model is adopted in a likelihood analysis aimed at the determination of bias parameters. We find that, for our sample of halos at redshift z=1, the tree-level model performs well for separations r ≥ 40hh -1 Mpc. Results obtained with this scale cut are robust against different choices of covariance matrix. We compare to the analogous analysis of the halo bispectrum already presented in a previous publication, finding a remarkable agreement between the two statistics. We notice that such comparison relies, to the best of our knowledge for the first time, on a robust and consistent covariance estimate and on the inclusion of essentially all measurable configurations in Fourier as in configuration space. We then test different assumptions to build the model defining a robust combination of hypotheses that lead to unbiased parameter estimates. Our results confirm the importance of 3PCF, supplying a solid recipe for its inclusion in likelihood analyses. Moreover, it opens the path for further improvements, especially in modelling, to extract information from non-linear regimes.

Abstract Background: Health administrative (HA) databases are increasingly used to identify surgical patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) for research purposes, primarily using diagnostic codes. Such means to identify patients with OSA are not validated. The authors determined the accuracy of case-ascertainment algorithms for identifying patients with OSA with the use of HA data. Methods: Clinical data derived from an academic health sciences network within a universal health insurance plan were used as the reference standard. The authors linked patients to HA data and retrieved all claims in the 2 yr before surgery to determine the presence of any diagnostic codes, diagnostic procedures, or therapeutic interventions consistent with OSA. Results: The authors identified 4,965 patients (2003 to 2012) who underwent preoperative polysomnogram. Of these, 4,353 patients were linked to HA data; 2,427 of these (56%) had OSA based on diagnosis by a sleep physician or the apnea hypopnea index. A claim for a polysomnogram and receipt of a positive airway pressure device had a sensitivity, specificity, and positive likelihood ratio (+LR) for OSA of 19, 98, and 10.9%, respectively. An International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, code for sleep apnea in hospitalization abstracts was 9% sensitive and 98% specific (+LR, 4.5). A physician billing claim for OSA (International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, 780.5) was 58% sensitive and 38% specific (+LR, 0.9). A polysomnogram and a positive airway pressure device or any code for OSA was 70% sensitive and 36% specific (+LR, 1.1). Conclusions: No code or combination of codes provided a +LR high enough to adequately identify patients with OSA. Existing studies using administrative codes to identify OSA should be interpreted with caution.

Today, a lot of us have a lot of digital wallet services that we use. Because of that tracking our spending has become significantly harder because most people use more than one digital wallet. This study aims to find out how can we utilize QR code in the payment receipt at out digital transaction, to keep track on our transaction on various digital wallet. To help keep track of the expenses from the various digital wallet, we use QR code that is generated from the receipt of the transaction that contain the encrypted data of the transaction that occurs. This data can be scanned so it can be added to a personal budget tracker app so the user can manage their digital expenses in one view.
