Original descriptions and illustrations of the first instar larva of Megalostomis (Heterostomis) lacordairei Lacordaire and of Coscinoptera argentina Burmeister (Clytrini: Megalostomina) are provided. Based on the available information on first instar larvae, the tribe Clytrini is diagnosed. Unique of the larvae of clytrini is the antennal sensorium dome-like. Characters in common between Clytrini, Cryptocephalini, and Chlamisini (Cryptocephalinae) are highlighted, like the body J-shaped (in association with case-bearer habits); frons, clypeus, and labrum fused; spiracles with reticulate peritreme; egg-bursters present on mesoand metathorax, each situated anterior to a very long seta and a short seta ventral to these.

The taxonomy of the genus Clytra Laicharting, 1781 occurring in China is studied. Two new species are described: Clytra (Clytraria) tanae sp. nov. from Qinghai and Yunnan, and Clytra (Clytraria) truncatula sp. nov. from Xinjiang. The Chinese fauna of the genus is thus increased to 13 species/subspecies in total. Keys to the Chinese genera of Clytrini and to Chinese species of Clytra are provided in addition to color plates and line drawings of habitus, maxilla, labium, male genitalia and spermatheca, which facilitates species identification; geographic distributions of 12 species/subspecies are mapped. The type specimens are deposited in Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.

This publication revises the taxonomy of the leaf beetle genus Exomis Weise, 1889 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Clytrini) which is endemic to China. Six new species are described: E. deqinensis sp. nov., E. huangi sp. nov., E. pubescens sp. nov., E. pubipennis sp. nov., E. tanae sp. nov. and E. viridis sp. nov., in addition to two known species, namely E. degenevei Pic, 1932 and E. peplopteroides Weise, 1889. Exomis oblongum (Lopatin & Konstantinov, 2009) from China (Yunnan) is transferred to this genus as new combination. The total Chinese fauna of Exomis is thus increased to nine species. A key to these species is provided and, for each of them, also a color photo of habitus and line drawings of the aedeagus, spermatheca and kotpresse, in order to ease identification in the future.

A revision of the Afrotropical genus Paraclytra Medvedev, 1971 is presented. The type material of the most relevant taxa is examined. Paraclytra cervenkai sp. nov. from Sultanate of Oman is described, illustrated and compared with related species. Neotypes for Clythra gambiensis Lacordaire, 1848 and Clythra signata Lacordaire, 1848 are designated. Lectotypes are designated for the following taxa: Clythra notata Klug, 1835; Clytra plicatipennis Pic, 1939; Clythra rufitarsis Lacordaire, 1848; Clythra sennariensis Lacordaire, 1848 and Clytra traegaordhi Weise, 1906. Paraclytra sennariensis (Lacordaire, 1848) is raised from subspecies of P. signata to species rank and treated as species with very variable coloration. Paraclytra rufitarsis (Lacordaire, 1848) is confirmed as a synonym of P. sennariensis. The following new synonyms are proposed: Paraclytra sennariensis = Clytra plicatipennis Pic, 1939 (syn. nov.) = Clytra signata ssp. aethiopica Medvedev, 1971 (syn. nov.); Clythra notata Klug, 1835 = Clythra signata Lacordaire, 1848 (syn. nov.). Because Clythra notata Klug, 1835 is a primary junior homonym of Clythra notata Gebler, 1830, the oldest synonym Clythra signata is stated as valid for this taxon. Paraclytra gambiensis is treated as a valid species which cannot be associated with Paraclytra notata due to completely different coloration. The drawings of both male and female genitalia are presented. A key to identification and a catalogue of all known Paraclytra species are given.

The first updated checklist of Balearic leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae) since 1960 is presented here, evincing the presence of 118 species. This estimation is clearly lower than the 141 species reported in the only list available to date (Jolivet, 1953), and the dissimilarity is even more pronounced if we take into account that 22 new species have been added during this period. The possible explanations for these differences are discussed. The main island in the archipelago holds most of the species (Mallorca, 113 spp.), followed by Menorca (71 spp.), Eivissa (39 spp.) and Formentera (19 spp.). Thus, the Gymnesian islands (Mallorca and Menorca) are more species-rich than the Pityusic ones (Eivissa and Formentera). The number of species per island is significantly correlated with their respective areas not only for the Balearic but also for the much larger western Mediterranean islands of Corsica and Sardinia, and these abundances are not related with their nearness to the closest mainland. Among the different subfamilies and tribes, the Balearic flea-beetles (Alticinae) are clearly more prevalent whereas on the contrary, the Clytrini are less represented in comparison with the nearest mainland (Iberian Peninsula). The presented checklist includes four endemic species, Cryptocephalus majoricensis (Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera), C. tramuntanae (Mallorca), Cyrtonus majoricensis (Mallorca) and Timarcha balearica (Mallorca and Menorca). Furthermore, two adventitious species, Monoxia obesula and Epitrix hirtipennis of North American origin, have been reported for the first time in the Balearic Islands, in agreement with previous findings in other Mediterranean countries.

AbstractThis communication is a general review of Eumolpinae, a subfamily of Chrysomelidae. The subfamily includes more than 7000 species. It is specially numerous and much diversified in the tropics, with both the attributes declining northward. It has several distinctive features, and is clearly related to Clytrinae, Cryptocephalinae, Chlamisinae, Lamprosomatinae, Hispinae, and Cassidinae. Megascelidines, though generally treated as a subfamily, they should be taken as a part of Eumolpinae. Through some larval features, Eumolpinae seem related also to Galerucinae-Chrysomelinae. Separation from Eumolpinae of the primitive eumolpines, the Tribe Spilopyrini, and inclusion of Syneta among Eumolpinae have been contradicted.

Labidostomis decipiens Faldermann, 1837 specimens collected from Ankara, Konya and Mersin, which were donated to the Nazife Tuatay museum by Prof. Dr. Halil Kasap, were examined. The paper presents morphological features of aedeagus and spermatheca of Labidostomis decipiens Faldermann, 1837 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Clytrinae) from Turkey for the first time. Accordingly, detailed investigations of aedeagus and spermatheca are very important to obtain new diagnostic characters in Labidostomis. Photos in stereo microscope are also given in the text.
