A construction project delay can result in financial losses to various parties involved both to the Contractor, Client and Project Management Consultant (PMC). This paper presents the results of a survey questionnaire conducted among Contractors, Clients and PMC. Data was analyzed with statistical tools to rank factors that influenced construction delays. From the results of the analysis there were 58 project delay factors that affected the delay of construction projects based on previous research. The project delay factors ranked so as to produce a project delay ranking sequence. Project delay factors will be grouped based on the perception of the Contractor, Client and PMC. Each project delay factor will be analyzed based on the type of delay factor, namely: Finance; Technical; and Coordination. It is concluded that the type of delay factor "finance" is a problem causing the project delay according to the perception of the "Client". While the type of "Technical" delay factor is the dominant cause of involvement according to the Contractor and PMC. For the type of delay factor "Coordination" is the main consideration for the cause of the project delay for the Contractor.

AbstractStatistical reliability of the Treatment Perceptions Survey (TPS) questionnaire was examined using data from 19 California counties. The 14-item TPS was designed for clients receiving substance use disorder services at publicly funded community-based programs. The TPS is being used for evaluation of the State’s 1115 Medicaid Waiver, external quality review of county-based systems of care, and quality improvement efforts. The survey addresses four domains of access to care, quality of care, care coordination, and general satisfaction that each include multiple items, plus a single item focused on self-reported outcome. Reliability test results of the four domains as composite measures were statistically significant. General satisfaction ratings were the best predictor of self-reported outcome in a path analysis model, followed by ratings of care coordination and quality of care. Separate analyses of TPS data from clients receiving specialty mental health services suggest the questionnaire can also be used reliably in mental health settings.

ObjectivesActive rehabilitation involving subsymptom threshold exercise and education/support promotes recovery among adolescents with concussion, but is typically delivered in-person, which limits accessibility. This study explored the feasibility of a remotely delivered Tele-Active Rehabilitation (Tele-AR) intervention for adolescents with concussion.MethodsA precase–postcase series design was used. Three adolescents (ages 14–17 years) experiencing postconcussion symptoms ≥2 weeks postinjury participated with a parent. The Tele-AR intervention was a 6-week programme supervised by a rehabilitation clinician through weekly videoconferencing appointments and included (1) aerobic exercise, (2) coordination drills and (3) comprehensive education and support. Feasibility indicators included rates of recruitment, retention, adherence, as well as adolescent and parent ratings of technology usability using an adapted Telehealth Usability Questionnaire and satisfaction using the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire-8. Prechanges to postchanges in postconcussion symptoms, illness perceptions, and occupational performance and satisfaction were also assessed.ResultsRates of recruitment (n=3/4) and retention (n=3/3) achieved success criteria. Adherence was high among all participants (77%–100%), and there were no adverse events. Participant ratings of technology usability and satisfaction approached 90%. All participants reported improvements in postconcussion symptoms and illness perception. Clinically significant positive changes were also observed in occupational performance and satisfaction.ConclusionsThe Tele-AR intervention appears feasible in a small group of adolescents with concussion, and positive changes were observed in postconcussion symptoms, illness perception and occupational performance. Further study is warranted to evaluate the efficacy of this approach, which may enable access to care that supports recovery in adolescents with concussion.

This study documents the development of a new tool to measure the quality of community case management for elderly clients. Information obtained from literature review, client focus groups, and pilot surveys with clients served as the basis for the development of a Case Management Quality Questionnaire (CMQQ). This measure, along with satisfaction, health status, and demographic questions, was administered to 174 home care clients and 78 family members of long term care residents for evaluation of case management services that clients had received in the last 2 to 6 months. Principal components analysis with oblique (Oblimin) rotation identified three subscales of the CMQQ: (1) accessibility, (2) efficiency, and (3) assessment/coordination skill. Study findings suggest that the CMQQ is reliable, valid, and of value in understanding satisfaction with case coordination. Based on client feedback and analysis of the results, some future modifications to the measure are worthy of study. Others interested in measuring and improving case management may similarly benefit from the use of the CMQQ.

This study aims to determine the quality, the importance of service attributes and the appropriate effort to improve the quality of public services provided by the Client Coordinator at the Direktorat Jenderal Bea dan Cukai. This study uses SERVQUAL questionnaire, Kano Model and Quality Function Deployment. SERVQUAL questionnaire is used to assess customer satisfaction (quality of service) by comparing customer expectations and the actual quality of service received by the customer. KANO model is used to determine which service attributes are important based on the perception of the customer. Moreover, the important service attributes identified by customer is analyzed in the house of quality (Quality Function Deployment method) to determine appropriate effort by government. A blend of these methods can be replicated in other efforts to improve public services so that the improvement will match with the needs of customers (community).

Management Advisory Services (MAS) are an increasingly important part of the service mix for CPA firms. The growth of MAS relative to audit has been phenomenal over the past two decades. However, little research has been conducted on MAS provided by CPA firms. The primary purpose of this study was to examine the determinants of MAS quality from the client's perspective. To achieve this objective, 305 controllers of U.S. companies responded to a questionnaire regarding MAS provided by CPA firms. The questionnaire was designed using determinants from marketing and audit literature. Using these client perception dimensions, two types of MAS engagements were compared: those with an increase in cost during the engagement, and those with no increase in cost. Descriptive and statistical results indicate that a 13-item service quality scale significantly differentiates client perceptions of MAS quality. The results also reflect dimensions of service quality that are similar to existing marketing and auditing studies. In addition, in the presence of cost overruns and intentional underbidding, clients perceive lower MAS quality. The implications of these results for the accounting profession are discussed.

This study was conducted to find out answers to sub-questions of the aim to ineasure a coordination abilities and management processes of faculty administrators at private Near East University. To this aim, a questionnaire was distributed to 120 teachers in total who were randomly selected within nine existing faculties at Near East University in 2010-1012 · academic years. The questionnaire was. a 5-point Likert scale type consisting of 59 items and having eight measurement types was prepared to identify teachers' gender, age, marital status, education status, based on criteria of seniority, management course and participation course seminars. The questionnaire was administered to 120 teachers in nine faculties. However, 13 questionnaires did not return. Perceptions of 107 teachers were included in the research in total. Obtained data was coded into data tables and analyzed by using SPSS 17 program, T- test, ANOV A, and LSD test was applied for Multiple Comparison Statistical Analysis Results. Findings were discussed by presenting them in tables. According to the analysis of the thesis, important differences were found the perceptions of teachers related to management processes of management profession and acceptance of the level of this profession in terms of gender, type of school, age, carrier seniority, area of position, and perceptions of academicians related to school type, age, carrier seniority and area of position in terms of physical structure oft.he school arid organizational environment of teaching and learning.

Purpose – Temporary agency workers (TAWs) have a double employment relationship: one with the agency that hires them with a formal contract, either temporary or permanent; and another with the client organization where they actually perform their work. As the social-exchange theory assumes that TAWs respond to the support they receive from both organizations with affective commitment toward the respective organization. The purpose of this paper is to propose that the type of contract with the agency moderates these relationships, specifically that permanent TAWs present a stronger relationship between perceived organizational support (POS) and affective organizational commitment (AOC) toward the agency and, to the contrary, that temporary TAWs show a greater relationship between POS and AOC toward the client. Design/methodology/approach – The hypotheses were tested with a sample of 522 Portuguese TAWs, of which 265 were temporaries and 257 were permanents. Data were collected with a self-report questionnaire and analyzed with multigroup analysis using the AMOS program. Findings – The authors verified that POS from both the employment agency and the client organization were related to the TAWs’ affective commitment to each respective organization. Furthermore, the relationship between POS from the employment agency and the affective commitment to this organization was stronger in permanent than in temporary TAWs. However, contrary to the expectations, the contract with the agency did not moderate the relationship with client organizations: temporary and permanent TAWs showed a similar relationship between POS from this organization and their affective commitment toward it. Practical implications – These findings show the important organizational role of both the employment agency and the client in supporting their TAWs and attending to the type of contract they have with the employment agency. Originality/value – This paper contributes to the analysis of the TAWs’ double employment relationship and highlights the role of the agency contract in the explanation of these relationships.

The aim of this study is to examine the perceived level of importance with respect to each pre-suggested determinant of audit fees in Egypt. In particular, the perceptions about auditor related attributes and client-related attributes according to external auditors and client’s representatives (auditee). This study is based on the results of a survey conducted in Egypt. A questionnaire is designed to request the opinions of external auditors and client representatives about 28 audit fees determinant. The questionnaire was sent to 150 participants out of whom 63 responses are found usable. Data is analyzed using SPSS program and Mann-Whitney U test is performed. The results reveal that the perception of all attributes is greater than 3, implying that all pre-suggested determinants are perceived as relatively important, important or highly important. The most three important attributes are: the good reputation of the audit firm, the fact of being one of the Big Four and the level of complexity of the auditee. Furthermore, the results show that there is no significant difference in perceptions of both group of participants regarding the importance of each audit fees determinant. It is also evident that auditor-related attributes are perceived to be of higher importance than client-related attributes. This is the first study conducted in Egypt examining the determinants of audit fees, knowing that audit fees figures are neither available nor publically disclosed. Moreover, the study takes into account the Egyptian revolution which started in 2011 by adding two new determinants to the questionnaire; economic and political stability. This is in order to cope with the country’s situation and to check the extent of such environmental attributes’ effect on audit pricing.

Purpose – Achieving maternity-care outcomes that align with women’s needs, preferences and expectations is important but theoretically driven measures of women’s satisfaction with their entire maternity-care experience do not appear to exist. The purpose of this paper is to outline the development of an instrument to assess women’s perception of their entire maternity-care experience. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire was developed on the basis of previous research and informed by a framework of standard service quality categories covering the spectrum of typical consumer concerns. A pilot survey with a sample of 195 women who had recent experience of birth was undertaken to establish valid and reliable scales pertaining to different stages of maternity care. Exploratory factor analysis was used to interpret scales and convergent validity was assessed using a modified version of the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire. Findings – Nine theoretically informed, reliable and valid stand-alone scales measuring the achievement of different dimensions of women’s expectancies of public maternity care were developed. The study scales are intended for use in identifying some potential areas of focus for quality improvement in the delivery of maternity care. Research limitations/implications – Reliable and valid tools for monitoring the extent to which services respond to women’s expectations of their entire maternity care form part of the broader toolkit required to adequately manage health-care quality. This study offers guidance on the make-up of such tools. Originality/value – The scales produced from this research offer a means to assess maternity care across the full continuum of care and are brief and easy to use.

Cost performance in the construction industry is important to enhance industry standard and grow a country's economy. This paper examines the key factors affecting cost performance in Thai construction projects, specifically at the pre-construction and construction phases. A questionnaire survey is used to gather data for the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis used in this study. The EFA technique extracted the key factors affecting construction cost, while the SEM revealed the interactions and causal relationships between those key factors. The EFA results confirm seven key factors: three at the pre-construction phase: lack of coordination, design management, and unclear client requirements; and four at the construction phase, including site management, resources, labour capability and contract-related. The SEM results confirm strong relationships, directly and indirectly, between the three key factors at the pre-construction phase. Good coordination between stakeholders result in less design errors and clear client requirements. The influences that the three factors at the pre-construction phase have on the four factors at the construction phase are also supported. The result highlights that unclear client requirements cause poor site management and cost overrun, which may lead to breach of contracts. Construction companies can use this study results to better plan for cost improvement by focusing on the identified pre-construction factors, as they could lead to good cost management during the construction phase.

PURPOSE: Effective care coordination (CC) is a hallmark of a high-quality cancer care. However, efforts to improve cancer care delivery are limited by the lack of a clinically useful tool to assess CC. In this study, we examined patients’ perceptions of cancer CC using a novel tool, the Care Coordination Instrument (CCI), and evaluated the quality of the CCI. METHODS: The CCI is a 29-item patient questionnaire that assesses CC across varied practice settings and patient populations overall and for three critical domains of CC: communication, navigation, and operational. We conducted univariable and multivariable regression analyses to identify patient clinical and practice characteristics associated with optimal versus suboptimal CC. RESULTS: Two hundred patients with cancer completed the CCI questionnaire between October 2018 and January 2019, of whom 189 were used for the analysis. The presence of a family caregiver and a diagnosis of a blood cancer were correlated with overall positive reports of CC ( P < .001 and P < .05, respectively). Poorer perceptions of CC were associated with having a head and neck cancer and the absence of family caregiver support. The effects of cancer disease stage and having access to a patient navigator on CC were not statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Integrating a patient-centered tool to assess cancer CC can be a strategy to optimize cancer care delivery. Understanding factors associated with effective and ineffective CC can help inform efforts to improve overall quality of care and care delivery.

Auditor independence has long been referred to as the cornerstone of the auditing profession. Guanxi refers to the networks of informal relationships and exchanges of favors that dominate all business and social activities that occur throughout China. This research will analyse the impact of guanxi and client size on the perceived independence of auditors in the setting of Hong Kong. Survey data is obtained from 524 questionnaire responses from Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), Big 4 and Non-Big 4 auditors. Two within-subjects independent variables: “guanxi” and the “client size”, and one between-subject independent variable: auditors versus CFOs, are employed. Results indicate guanxi is a significant factor influencing perceived auditor independence in Chinese society, which has largely been neglected in the accounting literature. Independence is severely impaired when the duration of guanxi with clients reaches five years or more. Large client size has a negative influence on the perceived independence of auditors and this result contradicts an earlier U.S. study. The results indicate that the longer the guanxi when the auditor is associated a with large audit client, the greater the decrease in their perceived independence and this has implications for audit legislation. CFOs generate the lowest mean scores (greatest threat to auditor independence) for the perceived effects of all levels (durations) of guanxi among the three groups. This result supports the stewardship theory that asserts stewards (CFOs) motives are aligned with the objectives of their principals. CFOs consider the increasing levels of guanxi associated with the auditors are not in the best interests of their principals, and hence affect the reliability of the audited accounts. Though this study is conducted in the Asia Pacific region, western counterparts will find the results useful. Multinational corporations which have subsidiaries or headquarters established globally, should be aware that guanxi has implications for their Asian operations and their consolidated audited accounts. In view of the critical importance of the guanxi factor on the perceived auditor independence, standard setters in this region should consider devising ethical guidelines requiring mandatory rotation of public accounting firms.

e14036 Background: Family caregivers (FCGs) can play a key role in coordinating care for cancer patients. However, little is known about FCGs’ perspectives of care coordination (CC). In this cross-sectional study, we evaluated perceptions of CC in cancer patient-family caregiver dyads using the Care Coordination Instrument (CCI), a validated self-report measure with excellent psychometric properties. Methods: Patients receiving active treatment for cancer and their primary FCGs ( N = 54 dyads) completed the 29-item CCI (patient) and the CCICG (a parallel FCG version) at private oncology practices or hospital-based facilities from June to Sept. 2019. The CCI and CCICG assess overall perceptions of CC (Total) and across 3 domains: Communication, Navigation, and Operational. The CCICG includes a supplemental questionnaire that assesses the degree of caregiver CC involvement on a 4-point Likert scale. Mixed regression models were used to examine differences between patients and FCGs’ perceptions of CC and to identify predictors of dyadic differences on the CCI scores. Pearson’s correlation was used to evaluate associations between FCGs’ perceptions of CC and the degree of caregiver involvement. Results: CCICG Total scores demonstrated a bimodal distribution, representing FCGs’ perceptions of CC in distinct high and low subgroups; thus, all analyses were conducted by subgroups (highCG, lowCG). Overall, no dyadic differences were found in the highCG group on the CCI scores. However, in the lowCG group, FCGs reported poorer Total ( p < .01), Communication ( p < .01), Navigation ( p < .01), and Operational ( p < .05) scores than patients. Provider setting (private practices) and the absence of an identified patient navigator significantly predicted poorer FCG Total scores compared to patients’ perceptions ( p < .05). FCGs’ Total scores were inversely associated with the degree of caregiver involvement among FCGs in the lowCG group ( p < .05) but not among FCGs in the highCG group. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrate that a subgroup of FCGs has poorer perceptions of CC that differ significantly from patient perceptions and is most apparent for patients receiving treatment in a private practice setting and in the absence of a patient navigator. These FCGs report a high degree of caregiver involvement and may be providing additional CC support that is not recognized by cancer patients. These findings underscore the need for interventions to support FCG CC involvement as a member of the care team in order to improve the quality and value of patient-centered cancer care delivery.

The study is balanced between a research enquiry and the consulting process with the client being the trade association. Following initial case study investigations, a postal questionnaire survey was undertaken of member organizations and individuals within them. AimMental Health workers bear responsibility for preventing suicide in their client group. Survey studies have indicated that staff can be seriously adversely affected when a client suicides. The aim of the current study is to describe and evaluate the effects on mental health (MH) workers of their ongoing role in managing suicidal behaviours and to identify the thoughts and feelings associated with this role.MethodA survey was administered to 135 MH workers via an on-line self-report vehicle. The survey comprised standardised measures of anxiety and burnout as well as a questionnaire developed for this study concerning perceptions and attitudes to suicide and suicide prevention.ResultsFactor analysis of 12 retained items of the questionnaire identified three factors: 1) preventability beliefs (beliefs about suicide being always and/or permanently preventable); 2) associated distress (stress/anxiety about managing suicidal behaviour); and 3) the prevention role (covering views about personal roles and responsibilities in preventing suicidal behaviours). Analysis of these factors found that many MH workers experience an elevation of stress/anxiety in relation to their role in managing suicidal behaviours. This distress was associated with the emotional exhaustion component of burnout. Measures showed adverse responses were higher for outpatient than inpatient workers; for those who had received generic training in suicide prevention: and for those who had experienced a workplace related client suicide.ConclusionThere is a need for the development of appropriate self-care strategies to alleviate stress in MH workers exposed to suicide.

As attitudes about sexuality change, social workers may confront client issues and/or problems related to human sexuality. This article describes a pilot study of student perceptions of human sexuality curriculum content and their views regarding their sense of preparedness and anticipation in dealing with this area of practice. A convenience sample of undergraduate students (n=170) from BSW programs at public and private institutions in the northeastern United States completed a study- specific questionnaire. Preliminary findings suggest study participants were unable to identify sexuality content within their curriculum. Only 42% (n=71) perceived that they were adequately prepared to handle most sexuality issues, although many anticipate working with clients with sexuality issues in practice. Limitations of the study are addressed. Directions for future research are discussed that may contribute to a better understanding of the delivery of human sexuality content to BSW students.

This article discusses development and testing of the Provider and Staff Perceptions of Integrated Care Survey, a 21-item questionnaire, informed by Singer and colleagues’ seven-construct framework. Questionnaires were sent to 2,936 providers and staff at 100 federally qualified health centers and other safety net clinics in 10 Midwestern U.S. states; 332 were ineligible, leaving 2,604 potential participants. Following 4 mailings, 781 (30%) responded from 97 health centers. Item analyses, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis were undertaken. Exploratory factor analysis suggests four latent factors: Teams and Care Continuity, Patient Centeredness, Coordination with External Providers, and Coordination with Community Resources. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed these factor groupings. For the total sample, Cronbach’s alpha exceeded 0.7 for each latent factor. Descriptive responses to each of the 21 Provider and Staff Perceptions of Integrated Care questions appear to have potential in identifying areas that providers and staff recognize as care integration strengths, and areas that may warrant improvement.

This study examined the effects of different styles of background music on task performances of college students. In addition, students' perceptions of the music and the effect these perceptions had on performance were investigated. 96 undergraduate nonmusic majors were randomly assigned to one of four experimental groups: task only, task and classical background music, task and jazz background music, and task and popular background music. The performance task consisted of 220 eye/hand coordination problems, and a questionnaire was subsequently administered to the task plus background music groups to assess perception of the background environment. Analysis indicated that the experimental conditions had no significant effect on task performance.

The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) is receiving international attention as an important assessment for directing occupational therapy interventions and measuring client-centred outcomes. The COPM measures individuals' perceptions of disability by identifying those tasks that are important to them and difficult to perform. The Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) has been used extensively with persons with arthritis and measures individuals' perceived difficulty in performing predetermined tasks of daily living. The HAQ has been shown to correlate with actual performance and has reported concurrent validity with a number of similar scales. In this study, 13 participants diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis were assessed with the COPM and the disability dimension of the HAQ. Participants scored performance limitations on both the COPM and the HAQ; the correlation coefficient between the scores was not statistically significant. However, when the COPM and the HAQ scores for similar activities were compared, a statistically significant correlation was found. These findings support the use of the COPM as a valid measure of self-reported performance.

Purpose This research examined how Australian construction projects perform in the area of client-led innovation. The purpose of this paper is to test the influence of a set of enablers in promoting the innovative performance of construction projects and examine how Australian construction projects perform in relation to innovation. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire was developed and distributed to over 300 construction industry practitioners to obtain perceptions of industry practitioners regarding client-led enablers to promoting innovation at the project level, with 131 valid responses received. The data from the survey were subjected to statistical analyses including mean comparisons, using the Mann–Whitney U-test and Kruskal Wallis Test. Findings This research identified a number of enablers that clients can employ in construction projects to enhance innovative performance. It also revealed that the innovative performance of construction projects in Australia appears to be above average, although the perceived level is not too high. The main finding of the research is that Australian clients could achieve higher outcomes from construction projects by promoting innovativeness in their projects, especially by promoting innovativeness in their own organizations and providing incentives/rewards and other support for innovative activities in projects. Originality/value Past research focusing on client-led enablers at the project level is limited. This research identified a number of enablers that clients can employ to achieve greater benefits from their projects through innovation.

ABSTRACTLittle of the extensive research on gender differences in adolescent self-perception has addressed differences between boys and girls with coordination difficulties. This study of physical self-perception examined 16 boys and 16 girls ranging in age from 13 to 15 years, who had been identified as poorly coordinated during their primary school years. The Physical Self-Description Questionnaire completed by each participant provided scale scores for Appearance, Body Fat, Strength, Coordination, Endurance, Flexibility, Physical Activity, Sports Competence, Health, Global Physical, and Self-Esteem. As a group, the girls ranked their perceptions of Physical Activity and Endurance significantly lower than the boys did. The gender differences were somewhat different from those found in adolescents drawn from general populations.

Aim: To investigate important case management goals and key influences on the achievement of the goals in community aged care practice from the perspectives of case managers in Australia.Methods: We surveyed 154 case managers, representing 17.1% of the target population in the State of Victoria, Australia. The key information collected was case managers’ characteristics and their selections of important case management goals. We also conducted 33 interviews with 47 case managers to explore their perceptions of important case-managed community aged care goals and the key influences on the achievement of these goals. Descriptive analysis, logistic regression, and qualitative thematic analysis were performed.Results: The survey findings showed that important case management goals included improving client outcomes, improving care quality, enhancing care coordination and accessibility, and reducing nursing home admissions. The interview findings indicated that important case management goals were divided into client-centered goals (e.g., maintaining clients safely at home), case managers’ personal goals (e.g., gaining professional development), and organizational goals/expectations/values (e.g., expecting case managers to manage budgets wisely). Finally, the mixed research methods determined constraints of organizational resources and policies, clients’ risky decisions, and case managers’ work experience and employment status as key influences or significant factors associated with the achievement of case management goals.Conclusion: Client-centered goals are of particular importance among those important case management goals. Case managers helping clients establish reasonable expectations and organizations developing favorable professional development policies and establishing reasonable job requirements and expectations will facilitate the achievement of case management goals.

In Bangladesh, extreme weather events displace about one million people each year. The national government resettles these climate victims by allocating houses in so-called cluster villages. This paper examines how local disaster management officials manage the resettlement of climate victims in Bangladesh’s coastal areas. For this paper, we conducted a preliminary field work, questionnaire survey, and informal phone interviews. The questionnaire survey was conducted from March to July 2020 among 70 central government civil servants who worked as disaster management officials and played a pivotal role in local decision making for climate victim resettlement. This paper first examines how national disaster response policies were implemented in local areas before, during, and after disasters. Our questionnaire survey results show five management challenges local officials faced in managing displaced people: (1) local officials’ limited onsite experience, (2) varied impacts of natural disasters on islands and the mainland, (3) arbitrary engagement in disaster response actions, (4) lack of evacuation drills, and (5) weak coordination skills among relevant stakeholders. In particular, these challenges were acute among island officials. Our multiple regression analyses show that the respondents’ age and onsite work experience (p < 0.05) significantly affected their perceptions. Overall, these findings suggest a need to drastically improve local disaster governance capacity. This study offers insights into how countries with similar challenges may respond to climate-induced displacement in the future.

Introduction Contemporary rehabilitation change relies on effective collaboration and ongoing social interactions among stakeholders. The study objective was to explore the influence of the selected change framework and underlying social interactions during a care coordination improvement project. Methods A qualitative study collected data from 35 employees in a community physical rehabilitation service. Participants were not only undergoing change to improve client care coordination but were also facilitating the change processes themselves. Symbolic interactionism guided the research design, and data were collected using interviews and observation. Blumer’s six root beliefs were used for deductive data analysis and provided the framework for the findings. Results Findings highlight that the perceptions of the selected change framework were mixed yet dynamic, with modification occurring via social interaction. Elements of Kotter’s eight steps, lean thinking, and transformational change models were trialed. Implementation of the change processes required formal and informal group social interactions. Participants’ different outlooks explained their mixed response to the change processes. Participants who supported the implemented changes believed the processes and outcomes were clear, appropriate, and inclusive. Time, energy, and positive social interactions enabled employees to drive change, with more of these resources desired to refine the vision, problem-solve implementation, and further improve care coordination. Discussion This study enhances the understanding of how employees and the community physical rehabilitation service shaped each other during the change processes. The focus on social interactions highlights the slow rate of improved care coordination and need for increased resources and/or duration for successful change.

AbstractObjective:People with pancreatic cancer have poor survival, and management is challenging. Pancreatic cancer patients' perceptions of their care coordination and its association with their outcomes have not been well-studied. Our objective was to determine if perception of care coordination is associated with patient-reported outcomes or survival.Methods:People with pancreatic cancer who were 1–8 months postdiagnosis (52 with completed resection and 58 with no resection) completed a patient-reported questionnaire that assessed their perceptions of care coordination, quality of life, anxiety, and depression using validated instruments. Mean scores for 15 care-coordination items were calculated and then ranked from highest (best experience) to lowest (worst experience). Associations between care-coordination scores (including communication and navigation domains) and patient-reported outcomes and survival were investigated using general linear regression and Cox regression, respectively. All analyses were stratified by whether or not the tumor had been resected.Results:In both groups, the highest-ranked care-coordination items were: knowing who was responsible for coordinating care, health professionals being informed about their history, and waiting times. The worst-ranked items related to: how often patients were asked about visits with other health professionals and how well they and their family were coping, knowing the symptoms they should monitor, having sufficient emotional help from staff, and access to additional specialist services. For people who had a resection, better communication and navigation scores were significantly associated with higher quality of life and less anxiety and depression. However, these associations were not statistically significant for those with no resection. Perception of cancer care coordination was not associated with survival in either group.Significance of results:Our results suggest that, while many core clinical aspects of care are perceived to be done well for pancreatic cancer patients, improvements in emotional support, referral to specialist services, and self-management education may improve patient-reported outcomes.

Children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD) have a motor impairment that affects their ability to perform everyday tasks. Although severity of motor impairment can be measured, methods for assessing the perceived impact of DCD on daily activities have not been established. The purpose of this study was to use a child-focused approach to understand children's views of the impact of DCD on the activities that they perform daily. Children aged 5–10 years, referred with coordination difficulties to occupational therapists, were assessed using the Movement Assessment Battery for Children: children who received scores below the 15th percentile were included. The Perceived Efficacy and Goal Setting System (PEGS), a pictorial scale validated as a method for engaging children with disabilities, was administered to examine the children's perceptions of their competence in performing everyday activities and to identify goals for therapy. Parent and teacher concerns were collected by a questionnaire. The children, parents and teachers shared many concerns about the impact of DCD on physical tasks and on academic activities such as handwriting. The children expressed additional concerns, however, about their ability to perform daily self-care tasks and leisure activities, which were rarely recognised by the adults. Children require specialised methods to enable them to express their views and the PEGS appears to be suitable for this purpose.

PurposeDelays in construction projects can be very expensive due to their adverse effects on project cost and profit margin. To overcome this problem, clients in the construction industry sometimes use schedule incentive/disincentive (I/D) contracting strategy. However, previous studies have shown that inadequate understanding and wrong implementation of schedule I/D provisions could result in unintended results. Moreover, the use of the I/D contracting method is in its initial stages in many countries such as India. The purpose of this paper is to identify various factors that are essential for schedule I/D success in construction projects.Design/methodology/approachA questionnaire survey was conducted among experienced professionals (clients, contractors and consultants) from across the Indian construction industry.FindingsTop success factors related to clients in the descending order of their importance are: realistic targets; detailed guidelines for I/D implementation; close coordination with other stakeholders; correct estimation of I/D duration and amount; and imposing disincentives after due consideration. Meanwhile, factors related to contractor organisations are: continuous monitoring and control; thorough understanding of schedule I/D targets; specific considerations in appointing senior project personnel; effective communication; and proper labour management.Research limitations/implicationsThis empirical research was conducted in the Indian construction industry. Similar studies from developed construction markets may provide more insights into the successful use of schedule I/D provisions in construction projects.Practical implicationsThe uptake of these recommendations is likely to increase the success of schedule I/D provisions in construction projects, especially in developing countries where the use of I/D contracting strategy is not very popular.Originality/valueThis research highlights the specific roles of both clients and contractors in the success of schedule I/D projects in developing countries such as India.

Knowledge is limited about dysgraphia in adolescence and its association with daily motor-related daily performance and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). This study aimed to (1) compare and (2) examine correlations between handwriting measures, motor-related daily performance, and HRQOL of adolescents with and without dysgraphia and (3) examine the contribution of motor-related daily performance and handwriting measures to predict their physical HRQOL. There were eighty adolescents (13–18 yr): half with dysgraphia and half matched controls without dysgraphia per the Handwriting Proficiency Screening Questionnaire and Handwriting Legibility Scale participated. They copied a paragraph script onto a paper attached to the Computerized Penmanship Evaluation Tool digitizer and completed the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire-brief version and the Adult Developmental Coordination Disorder Checklist (ADC). We found significant between-group differences in motor-related daily performance, handwriting measures, and HRQOL and significant correlations between HRQOL and handwriting process measures and motor-coordination ability. Handwriting measures predicted 25%, and the ADC A and C subscales 45.6%, of the research group’s physical QOL domain score variability. Notably, the control group’s current perceptions of their motor-coordination performance (ADC-C) predicted 36.5% of the variance in physical QOL. Dysgraphia’s negative effects during childhood and adolescence may reduce adolescents’ HRQOL now and into adulthood.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degrees (EMJMD) offer a unique opportunity to jointly design and deliver an integrated curriculum of excellence in an international context. This study analyses the case of a Master's Degree specialised in Education: PETaL “Play, Education, Toys and Languagesˮ. This is the first EMJMD obtained by the University of Cordoba (Spain) within the framework of the Erasmus+ Program (2014-2020), in coordination with the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (Portugal) and Marmara University (Turkey). Through the design, validation and distribution of an online questionnaire, this research aims to examine teachers’ opinions on the place of integration in their teaching, as well as on the level of interdisciplinarity in the programme based on Harden’s model ($). This pioneering course represents a favourable context in which to evaluate the “jointnessˮ in the curriculum and other aspects of the teaching-learning process, little explored so far in this context. The results reveal that, foreseeably, the conditions for greater integration in the successive editions are in place. Thus, it is necessary to continue strengthening teaching coordination and the aspects leading to further curricular integration. The study also serves as a reflection on teaching practice and the possibilities for interdisciplinarity in postgraduate education.

Objective: To describe the development and evaluation of the Consumer Expectations, Perceptions and Satisfaction Scale (CEPAS). Methods: The content of CEPAS was developed from a focus group of patients and carers. A total of 115 consecutive patients discharged from a community mental health service for older people and their carers was asked to complete a postal survey. Results: The CEPAS was appropriate for 49% of patients (56/115) and 51% of carers (59/115). The response rates were 69% (39/56) for patients and 76% (45/59) for carers. Overall satisfaction had a significant association with the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (r = 0.67, p < 0.001) and the Clinical Global Impression Scale (r = 0.29, p < 0.01). Conclusions: The CEPAS was an adequate measure of patient and carer satisfaction in this setting and for this population. More research is needed to evaluate CEPAS in other settings and with other populations.

In addition, clients also feel the psychological effects of anxiety, anger, fear and even physical and psychological trauma.Purpose: To identify Psychiatric inpatients' perceptions of positive and negative aspects of physical restraint at Atma Husada Mahakam Hospital of Province East Kalimantan.Methods: This study uses quantitative research methods with designs descriptive, the sample of the study was 46 respondents and the data collection in the form of a questionnaire lately was about the physical impact and psychological impact.Results: The results of the study the majority of respondents 37 people (72.5%) experienced physical impact in the category of positive impact. While the study of the majority of respondents 28 people (60.9%) experienced a psychological impact on the positive impact category.Conclusion: Physical impact on restrain action is more dominant in the impact category, while the psychological impact on restrain action is more dominant in the positive impact category. It is recommended that nursing service agencies, can foster nurses' confidence to improve management of restrain measures.Keywords: Psychiatric inpatients; Perceptions; Physical restraint; Violent behaviorPendahuluan: Restrain yang dilakukan pada klien di rumah sakit jiwa ternyata juga menimbulkan dampak negatif, selain itu restrain juga memiliki dampak positif yaitu klien jadi lebih cepat tenang, mengurangi risiko mencederai diriya sendiri. Restrain pada klien bisa menyebabkan dampak fisik bagi klien yaitu oedema, lesi, resiko terjadi cedera, inkontensia, penampilan klien kurang rapi, dan sering kali kebutuhan dasar manusia pada klien tidak terpenuhi. Selain itu klien juga merasakan dampak psikologis yaitu cemas, marah, takut bahkan trauma baik fisik maupun psikologis.Tujuan: Mengidentifikasi gambaran dampak tindakan restrain pada klien dengan gangguan jiwa di RSJD Atma Husada Mahakam Propinsi Kalimantan Timur.Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif , sampel penelitian sebanyak 46 orang responden dan alat pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner berisi tentang dampak fisik dan dampak psikologis.Hasil: Hasil penelitian mayoritas responden 37 orang (72.5%) mengalami dampak fisik pada kategori dampak positif. Sedangkan penelitian mayoritas responden 28 orang (60.9%) mengalami dampak psikologis pada kategori dampak positif.Simpulan : Dampak fisik pada tindakan restrain lebih dominan pada kategori dampak, sedangkan dampak psikologis pada tindakan restrain lebih dominan pada kategori dampak positif. Disarankan agar instansi pelayanan keperawatan, dapat menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri perawat untuk meningkatkan penatalaksanaan tindakan restrain. untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan dalam menjalankan penatalaksanaan tindakan restrain.

AbstractCanvassing views through a questionnaire-based online survey of 25 lawyers and 85 interpreters working in Australia, the present study investigates the approaches to interactional management employed by both lawyers and interpreters in interpreter-facilitated legal aid interviews. Specifically, the study examines lawyers' and interpreters' efforts at coordination before and during interpreted interviews, as well as interpreters' success in complying with ethical principles, and lawyers' knowledge of how to work with interpreters. The findings show that lawyers had a good understanding of their responsibilities when working with interpreters and played the role of coordinator by actively managing turn-taking and monitoring interpreting quality. Although most of the interpreter respondents performed to the ethical standards expected, some knowingly violated ethical principles by engaging in side conversations with the clients or by summarising rather than interpreting fully. The study further found statistically significant correlations between interpreters' level of professional qualifications and their competence in managing interactions and following ethical principles, which highlights the importance of training and professional accreditation for maintaining professional standards among interpreters.

Background. Children and parents can make valid judgments about movement difficulties, which aids in the screening and assessment of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). When considering therapy outcomes, child and family-centred practice supports the inclusion of parent and child perspectives to reflect progress made in meaningful daily contexts. Purpose. This paper describes an evaluation of the use of questionnaires for parents and children to measure change in motor performance. Methods. Questionnaires were administered to 43 children with DCD and their parents five times over two-and-a-quarter years in conjunction with other clinical measures. Findings. Parent report, using the Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire, correlated significantly with clinical measures of motor skill, whilst parent and child perceptions differed. Children's confidence and resilience may influence their opinions of their ability. Implications. These results raise questions of whose perspective of progress is most valid and relevant — the therapist's, child's or parent's?

Turley (1993) research questionnaire. Data are </em><em>gathered through directly questionnaire, which collected from 120 respondents. There are </em><em>40 respondents from experienced auditor group from KAP, 40 respondents from finance </em><em>managers as the audited result financial report user and 40 respondents from Trisakti </em><em>students who majoring accountancy that have joined auditing class completely The tech-nique of convenience sampling is applied in gathering the data while the data are analyzed by using oneway ANOVA and Kruskal Waffis. The ANOVA test is used for analysis the </em><em>normally distributed data and kruskal waffis test is used for analysis the abnormal distributed </em><em>data. The result of this research shows that there are some differences in perceptions </em><em>among the students, auditors and managers about the integrity and performance of the </em><em>auditors for the first hypothesis. The counselling effectiveness of guidance officers (GOs) was examined in a study involving 21 State secondary schools in Queensland. Students from Year 8 to Year 12 from each school were asked to rate the level of satisfaction with a counselling session. This was measured by the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) developed by Larsen, Attkisson, Hargreaves and Nguyen (1979). Based on Strong's (1968) Social Influence model, counselling was assumed to be an interpersonal influence process. Therefore these students also rated their perceptions of a GO's counselling attributes on the Counselor Rating Form – Short Version (CRF-S; Corrigan &amp; Schmidt, 1983). Results indicated that ratings on the 12 CRF-S items as a total as well as a number of individual items significantly predicted CSQ scores. Student ratings on both questionnaires were high and possible explanations are considered. Also, several GO and student variables (e.g. sex of student, willingness, year level) were found to significantly predict satisfaction. Additionally, a number of these GO and student variables (e.g. GO and sex of student, willingness, the number of counselling sessions) were also found to differentially affect students' perceptions of GOs' counselling attributes.

The purpose of the paper is to test a structural equation model (SEM) of client satisfaction with the audit, and of client perception of the usefulness of the audit to external stakeholders. A questionnaire was mailed to audit clients, i.e. of manufacturing go public companies in the province of Banten; 57 useable questionnaires were returned. Data were processed using the SEM software Partial Least Square (PLS). The data suggest that auditors face difficulties in handling divided loyalties, as audit clients perceive a strong relationship between client satisfaction and usefulness to external stakeholders. The higher auditors competence is perceived to be by the clients, the more satisfied they are with the audit and the more useful they believe the audit is to external stakeholders. The more skeptical the auditor is perceived to be by the clients, the less satisfied they are with the audit and the moreuseful they believe the audit is to external stakeholders. The findings extend previous results, the better the relationship with the auditor is perceived to be by the clients, the more satisfied they are with the audit and the less useful they believe the audit is to external stakeholders. The study addresses an issue most auditing research has not explicitly considered: the distinction between client satisfaction with the audit and client perceptions of the usefulness of the audit to external stakeholders. Tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk menguji model persamaan struktural (SEM) atas kepuasan klien, audit, dan persepsi klien tentang kegunaan audit kepada pemangku kepentingan eksternal. Responden penelititan ini adalah 57 klien audit, yang bekerja di perusahaan manufaktur go public di Provinsi Banten. Data diolah dengan menggunakan softwareSEM Partial Least Square (PLS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa auditor menghadapi kesulitan dalam menangani kesetiaan yang terbagi bagi, antara harus berada pada posisi kepuasan klien dan kegunaan kepada para pemangku kepentingan eksternal. Much of the research on the psychological dynamics of performance teams suffers from the following limitations: consideration of only one theoretical framework and analysis of just one perspective (e.g., manager–coach or team member). To address these shortcomings, this study used a Global Cooperation concept that synthesized five psychological frameworks: coordination, cohesion, cooperation, integration, and identification. The objective of this study was to examine the level of congruence–symmetry between the two perspectives and the tendency for managers–coaches and team members to reduce cognitive dissonance in the perception of global cooperation. To this end, 108 managers–coaches and members of performance teams were studied (range: 23−60 years old) using a Cooperative Workteam Questionnaire (CWQ). Results revealed that the greatest amount of asymmetry was observed in Global Cooperation and Emotional Cooperation, while less asymmetry was found in Personal Growth, and good congruence–fit in Conditioned Cooperation. Results are discussed in terms of their theoretical meaning and practical implications for interventions on performance teams.

In order to carry out marketing programs effectively, perceptions of the various elements of the marketing mix need to be heard from the hospital management and the patient. This study aims to analyze the marketing mix of sports medicine services at the National Sports Hospital (RSON) which is viewed from two sides, perception of the hospital management, and athlete’s perception represented by special sports school (SKO) Ragunan. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative method approach using in-depth interview techniques, observing hospital marketing activities, reviewing hospital documents and conducting a questionnaire survey about perceptions of SKO Ragunan athletes which was conducted in October 2020. 40 of 133 questionnaire met the criteria for analysis. Most of the respondents had a positive perception (agreed) on the components and items of the marketing mix assessment at RSON with the highest assessment on the people skills / attitudes and the lowest on the aspect of promotion. The management confirmed the suitability of the survey results with the current hospital conditions. Coordination between hospital owners and leaders is required, as well as the evaluation of promotional media used so that marketing strategies, especially those related to promotional activities, can run optimally and on target.

Research on generations examine and analyse the similarities and differences between various age groups, and their opportunities for cooperation in the labour market, from various perspectives. According to the research, the behaviour and preparedness of each generation are different, the coordination and proper management of which poses challenges for all organisations. This is especially true when staff from national cultures with very distant values work together. The recognition of this problem was the pretext to the present research. The aim of the research is to examine the perception of the under 30 age group socialised and employed in two largely different cultures (Hungarian–Pakistani). Contrary to our assumption, the results of the quantitative research based on an online questionnaire confirm that the respondents do not perceive differently the behaviour, attitudes, expectations regarding work, workplace and employers of Pakistani and Hungarian young people at work. Employers’ perceptions of this age group play a significant role in choosing the tools that affect their retention in the workplace. In this respect, the employees of the studied cultures find similar solutions expedient.

Purpose Bank customers’ perceptions of service quality and service image of Islamic banks may differ from those of conventional banks. The purpose of this paper is to examine the differing perceptions of customers of Islamic and conventional banking systems in an emerging market, which has rarely been addressed and adds to the body of knowledge on this topic. This study also re-examines the SERVQUAL model of customer banking services to measure their impact on customer satisfaction and loyalty. Design/methodology/approach The study uses responses from a randomly drawn sample of 229 customers from conventional banks and 225 customers from Islamic banks operating in Bangladesh using a structured questionnaire. SPSS and structural equation modeling techniques were employed as statistical tools for data analysis. Findings Overall, the examined service quality dimensions wield varying effects on client satisfaction mediated through the perceived image of banking services. Islamic bank customers’ perceptions of the level of reliability, responsiveness, security and reputation were significantly higher than those of conventional banks. Research limitations/implications This study enhances our understanding of how Islamic banking practices differ from those of conventional banking in terms of service quality and image-related factors. More specifically, the findings of this research explain consumers’ perceived assessment of satisfaction and loyalty in a comparative research setting. Originality/value No prior studies have addressed the impact of the individual service quality dimensions on image factors in the context of conventional and Islamic banking in an emerging market, Bangladesh.

Background: Understanding the concept of recovery in severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia from the social and cultural aspects is important as it will help in developing models of recovery and appropriate interventions. Client and caregiver perspectives on recovery play a significant role in shaping these models and interventions. Hence, the aim of this study was to understand how clients with schizophrenia and their caregivers perceive recovery and to examine the differences between male and female clients with schizophrenia. Materials and methods: A total of 100 clients with schizophrenia and 80 caregivers of clients with schizophrenia were included in the study after written informed consent. A semi-structured proforma was used to collect the sociodemographic profile and illness variables. A questionnaire was developed to assess the indicators of recovery from mental illness and was administered to study participants. Descriptive statistics including frequency and percentages were used along with the chi-square test for analysis. Results: The most common indicators of recovery for the clients with schizophrenia were absence of symptoms (88%), no relapse (70%) and going back to work (70%), while for the caregivers were absence of symptoms (100%), becoming independent (92.5%) and no relapse (91%). Indicators of recovery were similar between male and female clients with schizophrenia except for the need to stop medication as an indicator of recovery observed significantly more in females ( p = .006). Most clients used internal validation of indicators to assess their recovery (79%). Conclusion: Results indicate that clients and caregivers from India perceive recovery as being symptom free, able to go back to work and being independent. Clients with schizophrenia use internal validation to assess recovery. Gender does not play a role in the perceptions toward recovery in schizophrenia. These results will help in developing models of recovery for severe mental illness in Indian context leading to tailored interventions.

This article outlines the perceptions of potential Business Management graduates regarding their generic skills level. To achieve the aim of this article, a literature study and empirical research were undertaken. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 205 potential Business Management graduates at a tertiary institution. To investigate the relationship between the independent and dependent variables, thirteen null-hypotheses were tested. The results revealed some significant relationships between these variables. Seven predetermined generic skills factors, namely basic, communication, management, environmental awareness, intellectual, self and career management as well as interpersonal skills, were identified and empirically tested in this article. Skills development should take place within an overall framework providing for the coordination and progression of skills development from first to final year of study. Future curricula development should specifically focus on developing those skills lacking most by potential graduates as identified in this article.

Background: Violent behavior is the act of injuring another person, themselves, destroyed property (environment) and verbal threats. Violent behavior and observation of potential suicide clients are the most frequent causes of stress on psychiatric nurses, besides the lack of management support is also a source of stress for psychiatric nurses. In the West Java Provincial Hospital the conditions often experienced are: the number of clients being treated is not comparable to the number of nurses available, often clients do verbal aggressive behavior or acts of violence with fellow clients, nurses who experience physical violence, destruction of hospital facilities by clients, often the client leaves the hospital without the nurse's permission and the nurse's unpreparedness if placed in a psychiatric emergency room. This can create stress for soul nurses in handling clients with aggressive behavior. Aims: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of client violence behavior on the stress level of nurses in the RDP room of West Kalimantan Prov. Hospital. Method: The type of this research is observational analytic with design cross-sectional, sampling with a total sampling amounting to 24 respondents, the measurement tool for this research is the observation sheet of POPAS (Perceptions of Prevalence of Aggression Scalebehavior), while for stress nurses use the PNOSS questionnaire (Psychiatric Nursing Occupational Stress Scale). The bivariate analysis used is the Spearman Rank correlation test with a confidence level of 95% or α = 0.05. Results: The results of this study indicate that there is an influence/relationship of client violence behavior to nurse stress, with a value of ρ 0.03 <0.05 where nurses who experience mild stress as much as one respondent (4.2%), moderate stress as much as 21 respondents (87.5%) and high stress of two respondents (8.3%). Violent behavior found was medium category 95.8% and heavy category 4.2%.

The purposes of this study were to determine the use and perceived effectiveness of motivational strategies used by dietitians and to evaluate dietitians' perceptions of barriers to client compliance. A three-part questionnaire with 32 motivational strategies, 16 barriers to adherence, and demographic information was designed and mailed to 862 members of the American Dietetic Association's Diabetes Care and Education Dietetic Practice Group. Statistical analyses included frequency distributions, chi-square analysis, and factor analysis. Only 13 of the 32 motivational strategies were used frequently by 50% or more of the dietitians. The main strategy based on perceived effectiveness was "Tailor the diet to the client's lifestyle. " Strategies perceived as effective also were used frequently by a majority of the dietitians. There were differences in use of strategies based on practice setting, CDE certification, and education level. The most significant barrier to adherence was "Complications with lifestyle/competing demands. " Factor analysis revealed nine factors for motivational strategies and five factors for barriers to adherence.

In Sweden, the County Administrative Board (CAB) and Swedish Trotting Association (STA) both perform animal welfare inspections of the premises of trotting horse trainers. The CAB inspection checks for compliance with the legislation, and the STA inspection checks for compliance with the private ‘Trotter Health Standard’, which mainly sets the same requirements as the legislation. This study investigated the views of trainers on these inspections both as separate events and in relation to each other. A digital questionnaire was sent out to trotting horse trainers in Sweden during spring 2021, and 396 trainers responded. Descriptive and statistical analyses were used to evaluate the responses. In general, the trainers reported positive experiences of both the CAB and STA inspections, but they had consistently more positive views about the private STA inspections than the official CAB inspections. The outcome of the inspections, i.e., non-compliance or not, did not affect trainers’ perceptions of the inspections, but inspectors’ knowledge, manner, and responsiveness had a strong effect. The trainers were generally satisfied with the current control system but would like better coordination between the different inspections.

The significance of marketing and competitive business environment calls for effective marketing practice by Quantity Surveying Firms (QSFs). One of the effective ways is to build a strong external marketing relationship, which exists between a firm and its client. Therefore, this paper investigated the external marketing relationship practice of QSFs with a view to enhancing firms’ productivity and client satisfaction. Forty-six (46) registered QSFs and fifty-nine (59) corporate clients in Lagos, Oyo, and Ondo States were assessed through questionnaire survey. Data were collected on the attributes of parties involved in external marketing. The collected data were analysed using Mean Item Scores (MIS) and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results reveal important attributes of clients to include “pay on time (MS=4.59)”, “willingness and readiness to take advice from the firm (MS=4.59)”, and “make expectations known clearly to the firm (MS=4.54)”. From the findings, clients averagely displayed these attributes. The result of ANOVA shows that firms viewed the importance of these clients’ attributes in the same way at p>0.05 except for one of these attributes (making expectations known clearly to the firm), which firms viewed its importance differently at p<0.05. Furthermore, results show the important attributes of firms to include: “ability to give clients value for their money (MS=4.51)”, “knowing clients’ requirements (MS=4.51)”, and “being attentive (MS=4.47)’. Findings show that these attributes were adequately displayed by QSFs. The perceptions of clients on the importance of these firms’ attributes were the same at p>0.05. The study concluded by establishing attributes for strong external marketing relationship to include: “readiness of a client to take advice from the firm”, “ability of a client to pay on time”, “ability of a firm to satisfy the client”, and “knowing the client’s requirements”. The study recommended that QSFs and clients should endeavour to possess and display these attributes for the enhancement of service delivery in terms of firms’ productivity and clients’ satisfaction. Purpose – The aim of this research is to identify the relevant skills and their relative importance, required by supply chain managers, and to suggest the key skill items that require improvement. Design/methodology/approach – Using a survey questionnaire, data were collected against 41 supply chain management skills. Using expert opinion, these skill items were then grouped to create four higher level supply chain skill-categories. These are supply chain general management (SCG) skill-category, supply chain analytical (SCA) skill-category, supply chain information technology (SCIT) skill-category, and supply chain environmental-related (SCE) skill-category. Subsequently, the importance-performance matrix (IPM) analysis was conducted to these higher level skill-categories to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the offered skills as perceived by the respondents. Findings – The analysis revealed that in order to prepare supply chain managers to face up to the future challenges educational institutions are required to devote their attention on areas such as warehousing management, distribution planning, demand forecasting, negotiation skill, cross-functional coordination skill, and knowledge of environmental issues in supply chains. Originality/value – This research provided insight into skills need for supply chain managers using IPM analysis. The results of the study could be adopted to upgrade the existing logistics and supply chain management program or design new logistics education and training programs to meet the current and future needs.
