Анотація:

Abstract:As claimed by Sujit Choudhry, ‘historical examples have re-emerged as important elements not only of academic analysis, but also of constitutional practice’ worried by the threat of democratic backsliding. Left-wing constitutionalists inspired by the Frankfurt School have left us a theory of constitutional stability drawn on by the Weimar experience. Following Choudhry’s call for more historical research on the subject, I will first summarise the critiques of the Weimar constitution developed by these authors and their ensuing proposals for its reformation. Secondly, I will describe the efforts made after 1945 to translate these suggestions into keys for German democratic renaissance. Apart from their impact on the Basic Law, I will focus on the much lesser known attempt to design a ‘better Weimar’ in the Soviet Zone of Occupation from 1945 to 1947. I will show how Weimar left-wing constitutionalism influenced East Berlin constitutional debate and the reactions of the West German constitutionalists. My final goal is to enrich our understanding of the issue raised by Choudhry of placing the political parties at the very core of the constitution instead of running away from political power.

Meslek yüksekokullarında eğitim alan öğrenciler derslerde teorik bilgilerle mesleki anlamda kendilerini geliştirmek için staj yapmaktadır. Staj yapan öğrencilerin çalıştıkları zaman sürecinde karşılaşmış oldukları tehlikeler değişiklik gösterebilir. Bu süreç içerisinde stajyerlerin güvenlik iklimine ilişkin algı düzeylerinin yüksek olması istenmeyen durumların oluşma ihtimalini azaltabilir. Kesitsel ve ilişki aracıyı tipte planlanan çalışmada Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesinde staj yapan öğrencilerin demografik özellikleri ve okul hayatında aldığı iş sağlığı ve güvenliği derslerinin güvenlik iklimi algılarına etkisinin olup olmadığını tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır. Giresun, Bayburt, Trabzon ve Gümüşhane illerinde basit örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenen 320 öğrenci araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Choudhry ve arkadaşları (2009) tarafından geliştirilen Türen ve arkadaşları (2014) tarafından Türkçe’ye uyarlanan “güvenlik iklimi ölçeği” veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılmıştır. İş sağlığı ve güvenliği dersini alan öğrencilerin güvenlik iklimi algılarının, dersi almayanlardan anlamlı şekilde yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca cinsiyet, eğitim alanı ve okuduğu üniversitenin bulunduğu il gibi demografik özelliklerle güvenlik iklimi algıları arasında anlamlı ilişkiler tespit edilmiştir.

AbstractOver the last few years we have seen a number of Muslim women being convicted of terrorism such as Roshonara Choudhry for stabbing MP Stephen Timms in 2010 and Shasta Khan for bomb making in 2012. These cases demonstrate that Muslim women, like their male counterparts are also targets for radicalization and recruitment from political and violent Islamist groups in theuk. Although it is important to explore the acquisition of extreme ideas and the move to violence but access to such individuals is very difficult. Access to women involved in Islamist groups is possible but is fraught with problems. This paper is based on preliminary findings from interviews carried out with Muslim women that were affiliated with political Islamist groups Muslim Against Crusaders (proscribed in 2011) and Women4Shariah. It explores how they become affiliated with the groups, and what impact this has had on their lives.

ABSTRACT Echinococcosis is a ubiquitous zoonosis. The causal organism is a flat tapeworm whose larval form causes infestations in human beings, who are its accidental hosts. It is known to occur in all parts of the body with the highest incidence in the liver, followed by the lung. Hydatid cysts in the neck are rare by themselves. We report a case of hydatidosis of the lung and central compartment of the neck, in a man who presented with pulmonary symptoms only. Computerized tomogram of the chest had revealed a hydatid cyst in the left lung and another incidental hydatid cyst in the neck. He underwent successful excision of both the cysts in one sitting. Анотація:

Bu çalışma, işyerindeki güvenlik iklimi algısının psikososyal risk faktörleri algısı üzerindeki etkisini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Adana Büyükşehir Belediyesi’nde çalışan 310 özel güvenlik görevlisi üzerinde anket tekniği uygulanarak, nicel bir araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler SPSS 22.0 ve Amos 22.0 programları ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular, Pearson korelasyon analizi ve çoklu regresyon analizi ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada, Choudhry ve arkadaşları (2009) tarafından geliştirilen, sonra Türen ve arkadaşları (2014) tarafından geçerliliği ve güvenirliği kabul edilerek kısaltılmış olan “güvenlik iklimi ölçeği” ile 2012 yılında Kıdemli İş Müfettişleri Komitesi (Senior Labour İnspector Committee-SLIC) tarafından psikososyal riskleri değerlendirmek için kullanılan ölçekten yazarlar tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan “psikososyal risk faktörleri algısı ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Özel güvenlik görevlilerinin genel olarak güvenlik iklimi algısının psikososyal risk faktörleri algısı üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi olduğu belirlenmiştir. Güvenlik iklimi algısı ölçeğinin “yönetimin bakış açısı ve kurallar” boyutunun, genel olarak psikososyal risk faktörleri algısı ve “çalışma ortamı” alt boyutu üzerinde anlamlı etkisi olduğu görülmüştür. Güvenlik iklimi algısı ölçeğinin “iş arkadaşları ve güvenlik eğitimleri” boyutunun, “destek” alt boyutu üzerinde anlamlı etkisi bulunmuştur.

He was the son of great personality Choudhry Miran Buksh Chishti. He was also the organizer of “All India Sunni Conference” and took active part in the movement of Pakistan. He produced many Ulamas with full knowledge of Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic Language and Literature, Islamic history, Ilm-ul-Kalam, Islamic Political, Social, Economic Thoughts. In modern Islamic World, a great number of Ulamas are delivering Islamic teachings and services which have gained their education from the Jamia Rizvia Faisalabad. He was adherent spiritually with Shah Muhammad Taj-al-Haq of Chishti Sufi Order. He died on 29 Dec, 1962 and his Shrine is located in Sunni Rizvi Jamia Masjid JhangBazar, Faisalabad.

In presenting the sexual politics in her stories, Ismat Chughtai is often quite deconstructive. In her stories, “The Mole” and “The Homemaker,” she breaks the traditional power nexus of man as the subject and woman as the Other in the politics of sexuality by presenting the characters of Rani and Lajo respectively. These characters, with their bold and authoritative sexuality, choose their sexual relationships on their own and posit themselves at the centre of those relationships—Rani in her relationships with Choudhry, Chunnan and Ratna; and Lajo in hers with Mirza. By portraying these two women as the subject in their sexual politics, Chughtai redefines the Other to be the man, instead of the woman. The pattern that Chughtai weaves here to do that has two distinct threads: first, empowering both Rani and Lajo with their sexuality and second, making them reciprocal in the sexual politics they share with the men in the stories. Drawing on the theoretical perspective from Simone de Beauvoir’s The Second Sex, this paper examines Chughtai’s process of redefining the Other in the sexual politics between the men and the women in her stories. The study demonstrates that the author has redefined the Other to be the men in the stories when it comes to the question of a reciprocal sexual politics and thus she has contributed to the gynocentric Urdu narratives by manifesting an intellectual rebellion against the phallocentric notions of her time.

Анотація:

There exists a vast literature on modeling and estimating aggregate stock market volatility over the past decade [e.g., Choudhry (1996); Mecagni and Sourial (1999) and Kabir, et al. (2000)]. Motivations for undertaking this exercise have been varied. Many value-at-risk models for measuring market risk require the estimation of volatility parameter. Portfolio diversifications and hedging strategies also require information on volatility as a key input. Volatility is defined as tendency of the assets price to fluctuate either up or down. Increased volatility is perceived as indicating a rise in financial risk which can adversely affect investor assets and wealth. It is observed that when stock market exhibit increased volatility there is a tendency on part of the investors to lose confidence in the market and they tend to exit the market. The nexus between volatility and economic fundamentals is still a moot point. Stock prices reflect information and quicker they are in absorbing accurately new information, more efficient is the stock market in allocating resources. The increase in volatility can be attributed to absorption of new information about economic fundamentals or some expectations about them. This kind of volatility is not harmful as there is no social cost associated with it. But if increased volatility is not explained by the level indicated by the fundamental economic factors, there is a tendency that stocks will be mispriced and this will lead to misallocation of resources [Karmaka (2006)].

ABSTRACT Aim To present a case of recurrence of giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath (GCT TS) and its management. Background The GCT TS is a solitary benign soft tissue tumor of the limbs. It usually appears as an enlarging painless mass and has a synovial origin. The GCT TS is approximately 1.6% of all soft tissue tumors. The GCT TS of tibialis posterior is very rare, and recurrence has not been reported. Case report A 21-year-old male patient presents with complaint of swelling over right ankle since 3 years. Patient was operated for swelling 10 years back, and histological examination revealed GCT TS. Patient was asymptomatic for 3 years after operation and then developed swelling since last 3 years. On local examination, hypertrophic scar mark 1 × 4 cm was present at right medial malleolus. Ultrasonography of right medial malleolus and magnetic resonance imaging were done for further evaluation. Under spinal anesthesia and tourniquet control, medial approach was taken extending from 7 cm above the medial malleolus posterior to the tibia up to the talar head. Tissue was cleared and was sent for histopathology, which confirmed the diagnosis of GCT TS. Patient is on regular follow-up since then, and there has not been any recurrence. Conclusion Though rare, recurrence of GCT TS can occur, and it should be properly investigated and completely excised. Clinical significance Though recurrence of GCT TS is rarely reported, it needs to be dealt with a high index of suspicion and treated aggressively. Introduction: Cardiac reperfusion injury is a well-described complication occurringafter ischemia or following cardioplegic arrest. The primary aim of this study was to evaluateand compare safety of Mitral valve replacement on beating heart without using cross clampwith the conventional Mitral valve replacement. Material and methods: It was a retrospectiveobservational study for study duration from 2012-2014. A total of 50 patients were randomlyselected and were divided in 2 groups, 25 patients in each group. This study was conductedat the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of Choudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology,Multan. We divided the patients in two groups. All operations were carried out by team led bya consultant surgeon in our institution. Results: Our patients had the age range from 12 to 65years (Mean ages=32.5 years ± 13.9000) the mostly this study included males 60 %. The studyincluded Group A and Group B (beating heart versus conventional heart surgery) both groupscontained randomized controlled patients with purposeful sampling. Minimum operative time100 minutes or maximum operative time 160 minutes (Mean 195± 95.75) The P value remainednon significant that P <0.001. The CPB time was 22 to 388 minutes (104.8 ± 97.4. Cross Clamptime, ICU stay intubation time, drainage, inotrope remained almost same in both groups. With P<0.001 Outcome variables of the patients. Discussion: The hazards of cardiopulmonary bypassand Cardioplegia are well known. Various studies have demonstrated decreased accumulationof extra cellular fluid, diminished lactate production and greater preservation of high energystores when a strategy of myocardial protection simultaneous antegrade/ retrograde continousnormothermic, normokalemic blood perfusion was used. These findings were the basis forusing beating heart technique for mitral valve replacement, Aortic cross-clamping, Cardioplegia,and reperfusion injury leads to myocardial ischemia and is a critical issue in mitral valve surgerydespite novel approaches to myocardial protection. Myocardial edema induced by the lack ofmyocardial contractions and impaired lymphatic flow due to Cardioplegia in the heart remainingin diastole is another cause of myocardial dysfunction. Conclusions: Outcomes obtained usingthis strategy of myocardial protection seem to compare favorably to those of historical series inwhich conventional myocardial protection with cardioplegic arrest were used.

Анотація:

This study aims; 1) to describe Masudul Alam Choudhury and Milton Friedman version of monetary policy, 2) to describe the comparison of Masudul Alam Choudhury and Milton Friedman thoughts on monetary policy, 3) to describe the relevance of Masudul Alam Choudhury and Milton Friedman version of monetary policy to monetary policy in Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative method with a literature review type. The results showed that; 1) Choudhury put forward the endogenous theory of money in Islam, where the central bank as the monetary authority only facilitates the circulation of the money supply volume so that the amount is accordance with actual spending and not spending demand expectation, 2) Friedman argues that money only affects inflation and does not affect economic growth, therefore monetary policy must be directed only affects at controlling inflation and not directed at influencing real economic activity, 3) The relevance of Choudhury and Friedman economic thinking regarding monetary policy on monetary policy in Indonesia can be seen from the implementation monetary policy implemented by Bank Indonesia.

This is a very brief rejoinder to the above critique of my critique of financial engineering in Islamic epistemological perspective. The purpose of this rejoinder is to point out saliently some of the misgivings on the part of the commentator in his comment. The purpose is not to be elaborate on various points in which I find the commentator to be shallow in his examination of facts and understanding of the paper as presented. By this rejoinder I hope that the misgiving on the mind of the reader will be assuaged by the meaning of the arguments presented in the paper but not understood by the commentator.

Анотація:

Abstract. Using two methods of eddy correlation system and evaporation pan to measure respectively the aerodynamic resistance over bare soil surface and maize field, this paper analyses the diurnal variation of the aerodynamic resistance and its relationship with wind speed. Based on direct measurements by eddy correlation system, an evaluation of the aerodynamic resistance models is made. These models include Thom model, Verma-Ronsenberg model, Monteith-Hatfield model, XieXianqun model, Mahrt-Ek model, Choudhury-1 model and Choudhury-2 model. The results show that: the distribution of the aerodynamic resistance takes a "U" type in the daytime and inverse "V" type at night. The aerodynamic resistance is a power function of wind speed. The aerodynamic resistances measured by eddy correlation system are in agreement with those measured by evaporation pan, but big differences occur when the evaporation rate is very small at night or rainy day. Choudhury-1 model, XieXianqun model and Thom model give the better agreement with the measurements by eddy correlation system both over bare soil surface and the maize field, while Mahrt-Ek Model and Monteith-Hatfield model perform worse.
