The city of Timişoara was one of the most important urban settlements in the southern parts of the Hungarian medieval kingdom. In 1552, following a brutal military campaign, Timişoara and its surroundings were occupied by Ottomans and integrated in the Empire. Although in the beginning was a real shock for the Christian communities inside the city (Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox), the religious life continued under Turkish rule. A lot of documents from the second half of the 16th century offer information about the cohabitation between different Christian denominations and, of course, the Christian-Muslim relation. The Ottoman authorities had established the best relations with Serbian Orthodox church, recognizing many of its privileges, even allowing the foundation of a Serbian Orthodox bishopric inside the city. The Catholic and Protestant communities felt much stronger Ottoman pressure, because the two Christian denominations tried to get support from Turkish authorities in their dispute over faith.

The Shattari silsila of Sufism made its inroad into India from the late 15th century under the leadership its founder Shaikh Siraj al-din Abdullah Shattar. However, the order became popular among the masses of the Indian subcontinent under the charismatic leadership of Shaikh Muhammad Ghawth of Gwalior. He spread the ideal of shattari’s into the region of Gujrat Malwa, and Deccan. Probably Shaikh Muhammad Ghawth was the only Sufi saints who tried to understand the ideals of Hindu Yogis. Unlike the popular Chisti saints of the day, the Shaikh did participate in the political affairs of the States. It was by his help Babur was able to secure the fort of Gwalior. The Shaikh maintained a cordial relation with both emperors Humayun and Akbar, however, Akbar’s inclination towards the teaching of Shaikh Salim Chisti made the shaikh withdraw from the Mughal imperial capital Agra to Gwalior. The Shaikh was as pious as humble, as Mullah Badauni noted that the Shaikh made no distinction between the masses and nobles. Shaikh Muhammad Ghawth was one of the forerunners in the science of exorcism. This paper aims to shed light on various aspects of the teaching of Shaikh Muhammad Ghawth and his relationship with the ruling class of the day.

Malnutrition continues to be a major issue concerning pediatric cystic fibrosis patients’ medical care. Supplementary diagnostic association with food allergy in a cystic fibrosis patient leads to worse nutritional status decline. This particular association determines low quality of life and life expectance impairment. Low caloric intake, recurrent pulmonary infections, maldigestion and malabsorption, low treatment adherence, genetic susceptibility and chronic infections are all risk factors and/or causes of malnutrition in cystic fibrosis patients. The aim of our study was to evaluate the prevalence of IgE mediated food allergies in cystic fibrosis patients. A secondary objective was to assess nutritional status in cystic fibrosis patients with food allergies after exclusion diet. In order to accomplish our objectives, we conducted a descriptive, retrospective study on a 68 pediatric patient cohort with cystic fibrosis (CF). All children were diagnosed and followed in the Regional center for CF of INSMC “Alessandrescu-Rusescu”, Bucharest, between 2011 and 2016. After data collection and statistic analysis we observed a prevalence of 11.7% of food allergies in our cystic fibrosis patients cohort. Also, specific exclusion diet impact on nutritional status was evaluated.

L’Avision de Christine, a 15-century text by the medieval 15th-century writer Christine de Pizan, communicates a didactic and political message. One of its parts, which serves the purpose of building the position and authority of the writer, is Christine’s personal complaint, presented from the perspective of a widow and writer struggling with everyday adversities and limitations of being a woman. A departure point for this article is Virginia Woolf ’s famous essay A Room of One’s Own, in which conditions indispensable for a successful writer are described: the titular room with a lock, income, access to privileges normally enjoyed by men, such as being able to travel, to make observations, to live a vagabond life, and to have independent social life. 524 years prior to the publication of Woolf ’s essay, Christine de Pizan makes a similar point. For years she had been struggling for financial stability, having to support her mother, children and niece. She provides a detailed account of her ordeal with courts in law, but also emphasizes that her role of a daughter, wife and mother has impeded her ambition to be a writer: first, full education was not accessible to her, then raising her children and household duties became her primary commitment, and finally providing for her family takes all her energy. Her path to her own room is not only full of obstacles, but it also requires a lot of determination. When she finally locks herself in her study, Christine can do what she has longed for so long: reading and writing. The construal of her persona in the text of the speculum principis genre legitimizes her presence in the public discourse. Her complaint manifests not only unprecedented sincerity of a woman, but also surprizingly mature reflection of a writer, affirming her otherness and desire to produce novel ideas and words. In this way, Chistine de Pizan fits in a gap in the history of woman writers created by Virginia Woolf.

The double is a common feature in fantastic fiction, and it plays a prominent part in the Gothic revival of the late nineteenth century. It questions the notion of a coherent identity by proposing the idea of a fragmented self that is at the same time familiar and frighteningly other. On the other hand, the double is also a way of representing the tensions of life in large urban centers. Although it is more usually associated with the fantastic, the motif of the double has spread to other fictional genres, including science fiction, a genre also concerned with the investigation of identity and the nature of the human. The aim of this article is to discuss the representation of the double in contemporary science fiction, more particularly in its dystopian mode, where the issue of identity acquires a special relevance, since dystopias focus on the troubled relation between individual and society. Works such as Greg Egan’s short story “Learning to Be Me”; White Christmas, an episode from the television series Black Mirror; Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel Never Let Me Go; and the film Moon, directed by Duncan Jones, will be briefly examined in order to trace the ways the figure of the double has been rearticulated in dystopian science fiction as a means to address new concerns about personal identity and the position of the individual in society.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------HUMANIDADE PRECÁRIA: O DUPLO NA FICÇÃO CIENTÍFICA DISTÓPICAO duplo é um elemento comum na literatura fantástica e desempenha um papel importante na retomada do gótico no final do século XIX. Ele questiona a noção de uma identidade coesa ao propor a ideia de um “eu” fragmentado que é ao mesmo tempo familiar e assustadoramente outro. Por outro lado, o duplo também é uma maneira de representar as tensões da vida nos grandes centros urbanos. Apesar de ser costumeiramente associado ao fantástico, o motivo do duplo se espalhou para outros gêneros, incluindo a ficção científica, gênero também preocupado com a investigação da identidade e da natureza do humano. O objetivo deste artigo é discutir a representação do duplo na ficção científica contemporânea, mais especificamente na sua modalidade distópica, onde a questão da identidade adquire uma relevância especial, uma vez que a distopia tem como foco a relação atribulada entre indivíduo e sociedade. Obras como o conto “Learning to Be Me”, de Greg Egan; White Chistmas, episódio da série de televisão Black Mirror; o romance Never Let Me Go, de Kazuo Ishiguro; e o filme Moon, dirigido por Duncan Jones, serão brevemente analisados a fim de rastrear as maneiras como a figuro do duplo é rearticulada na ficção científica distópica como um meio de trabalhar novas inquietações a respeito da identidade pessoal e da posição do indivíduo na sociedade.---Original em inglês.

Abstract 39 Background: In response to the growing burden of cancer, Global Oncology, Inc., and the National Cancer Institute Center for Global Health launched a free, online, interactive map, the Global Cancer Project Map (GCPM) [ http://gcpm.globalonc.org ], to allow policy makers, researchers, and civil society around the world to search this central repository of international cancer control and research projects. The GCPM serves to catalyze collaboration in cancer research and clinical care, as well as inform research and care gaps. Methods: In addition to search options by project attributes, the GCPM provides map overlays of epidemiological measures using IARC’s GLOBOCAN cancer-specific estimates of incidence, prevalence, and mortality, cancer disability--adjusted life years, and UN Human Development Index country values. Currently, the map displays projects with international collaborators collated from the NCI, NCI-Designated Cancer Centers, UICC and ASCO. Results: The GCPM search options offer countless angles of looking at projects worldwide. Of the 1,479 currently-mapped projects, 44.8% have investigators or collaborators in less-developed countries (LDCs) (as defined by the UN). Of the 1218 with a project type classification, 104 relate to capacity building and/or training, with 69 of these projects (66.3%) occurring in LDCs. Utilizing the cancer type search options, the GCPM currently displays 54 cervical cancer projects with LDC collaborators, where the cervical cancer mortality age--standardized risk is more than 2.5 times higher for LDCs than more-developed countries. Conclusions: The GCPM is a real-time needs assessment tool to allow the cancer community to visualize international efforts in cancer control and link need to action. To better address the growing burden of cancer, the partnership is actively seeking collaboration and additional project submissions. Utilized with cancer statistic overlays, the GCPM can help develop regional priorities in cancer research and control. The arrival of the Methodist Mission from the United States to Mexico sought to attract believers to the new Chistian faith. Several strategies were launched such as the creation of charitable works: construction of hospital and schools. Methodist schools were well equipped with modern buildings and a curriculum that include English and religion. During the Porfiriato the schools established by the goverment had precarious conditions, poorly paid and poorly prepared teachers, absent students and parents with Little willingness to send their offspring to clases. This article analyzes the intervention that Methodist women had in school life in Mexico. It is also shown that since the Porfirian era, Methodist women had a solid participation in different fields of action. without a doubt, the education granted in his denomination helped to improve his academic and social performance and, at the same time, to teach. The intention behind the curtains, finally, is to demonstrate that the educational institutions for Methodist women promoted a formation of greater scope with respect to the educational institutions established by the government in turn.

From the day Benedict XVI was elected Pope by the Conclave (April 19, 2005) his speech became a spotlight and his words took on universal proportions, not least because he was positioned not only religious themes, but above all, of social interest, such as: economics, consumerism, marriage and divorce. These last two themes, in particular, caused a lot of upheaval in the Brazilian media because of the publication of the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Sacrament Caritatis (AESC) published on February 22, 2007, which deals about the Eucharist, and in one of its sub-theme of the indissolubility of the marriage. The media, with the intention of spectacular the information, printed in the covers of printed and virtual newspapers that Pope Benedict XVI called the second marriage of social plague. With its emphasis in the word “plague”, the Pontiff’s statement provoked numerous replicas. In this context, it is objet of study in this thesis the dialogical analysis of replicas in the genre online commentary about the Christian-Catholic marriage. In this way, we try to answer the follow question: how does the active responsive understanding to concrete statements about the second Christian-Catholic marriage take place in the online commentary genre? In order to answer this question, it is our general objective to observe how dialogical relations and their ideological effects are given in the online comment genre. The methodology of data analysis was based on the social method of dialogical analysis of language proposed by Bakhtin/Volochinov (2010) whose methodological order for the study of language, starts from the types of verbal interaction then the statements and their genres and the forms of the language. The research corpus consists of two sets of data. One is the Pos-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Sacrament Caritatis and the second is composed by online, commentaries that have emerged as answer to this exhortation. The comments were taken from pages of larges portals, newspapers, forums and blogs, all posted in 2007, year in which the statement was built. The results of research indicate that: a) the concrete statement materializes from its sphere of production/circulation/reception. Thus, for the Christian-Catholic doctrine, marriage is a religious affair, because it is a bond established by God himself. Therefore, the divorce or any other practice that violates this sacrament is not possible; b) its social context cannot be removed from the word, because it is embedded in pragmatic situation that surrounds it. Thus, each word occupies the sense that they give to the sphere of circulation, the speakers, the situation of production, the ideologies, etc. In this way, the meaning is as plural as the contexts, which in turn are not ready, inert, but always in situation of verbal interaction; the subject does not have an alibi that exempt him from a subject of response, that is, when we are in front of a statement we are impelled to respond to him, albeit tardily, silently, verbally, gesture, etc. since we have with him a relation active responsive; d) the replica is constitutive of the dialogical relations that the subjects establish among themselves. Without a subject, without a dialogical relation, there is no replica.
Desde o dia em que Bento XVI foi eleito Papa pelo Conclave (19 de abril de 2005), seu discurso tornou-se alvo de holofotes e suas palavras tomaram proporções universais, até porque ele se posicionou não apenas sobre temas religiosos, mas, sobretudo, de interesse social, como economia, consumismo, casamento e divórcio. Estes dois últimos temas, em particular, causaram muito alvoroço na mídia brasileira por causa da divulgação da Exortação Apostólica Pós-Sinodal Sacramentum Caritatis (EASC), publicada em 22/02/2007, que trata da Eucaristia e, em um de seus subtemas, da indissolubidade do matrimônio. A mídia, com a intenção de espetacularizar a informação, estampou nas capas de jornais impressos e virtuais que o Papa Bento XVI chamou o segundo casamento de praga social. Com o tom valorativo na palavra “praga”, o enunciado do Pontífice suscitou inúmeras réplicas. Nesse contexto, constitui nosso objeto de estudo nessa tese a análise dialógica de réplicas no gênero comentário on-line sobre o segundo casamento cristão-católico. Desse modo, buscamos responder a seguinte questão: como a compreensão responsiva ativa a enunciados concretos sobre o segundo casamento cristão-católico se realiza no gênero comentário on-line? Para responder a tal questão, constitui nosso objetivo geral observar como se dão as relações dialógicas e seus efeitos ideológicos no gênero comentário on-line. A metodologia de análise dos dados baseou-se no método sociológico de análise dialógica da linguagem, proposto por Bakhtin/Volochinov (2010), cuja ordem metodológica para o estudo da língua parte dos tipos de interação verbal, em seguida dos enunciados e seus gêneros e das formas da língua. O corpus da pesquisa está composto por dois conjuntos de dados. Um é a Exortação Apostólica Pós-Sinodal Sacramentum Caritatis e o segundo está composto por comentários on-line, que surgiram como respostas a essa exortação. Os comentários foram retirados de páginas virtuais de grandes portais, jornais, fóruns e blogs, todos postados no ano de 2007, ano em que o enunciado foi construído. Os resultados da pesquisa apontam que: a) o enunciado concreto se materializa a partir de sua esfera de produção/circulação/recepção. Assim, para a doutrina cristã-católica, o matrimônio é assunto religioso, porque é um vínculo estabelecido pelo próprio Deus. Logo, é incabível o divórcio ou qualquer outra prática que atente contra esse sacramento; b) não se pode retirar da palavra seu contexto social, pois ela está embebida da situação pragmática que a envolve. Assim, cada palavra ocupa o sentido que lhe conferem a esfera de circulação, os falantes, a situação de produção, as ideologias etc. Desse modo, o sentido é tão plural quanto os contextos, que por sua vez não estão prontos, inertes, mas sempre em situação de interação verbal; c) o sujeito não tem álibi que lhe isente de ser um sujeito de resposta, ou seja, quando estamos diante de um enunciado, somos impelidos a responder a ele, ainda que tardiamente, silenciosamente, verbalmente, gestualmente etc., pois temos com ele uma relação responsiva ativa; d) a réplica é constitutiva das relações dialógicas que os sujeitos estabelecem entre si. Sem sujeito, sem relação dialógica, não existe réplica.

Abstract The chapter reveals the story of Sai Ramte Shah Chisti, a man who has lived many lives. He was born in 1910 in Malerkotla. Having spent 15 years of life in jails, he remembers his martyr father whose death as a martyr during Jaito Morcha inspired him to choose the path of a freedom fighter. He recalls attending a secret conference where Bhagat Singh, Chander Shekhar Azad, and Teja Singh Sultantar. The chapter belongs to the man who was on the run for years, penned his speeches under the pen name of comrade Dukhiya, worked as an activist after independence, and later went on journey that took him closer to God. The story is journey of the man’s salvation.
