Defining chronic depression as persistent symptoms for 2 or more years, a prevalence of chronic depression of 12–15% is found in the literature. A four-part classification of chronic depression is proposed: Chronic Primary Major Depression; Chronic Secondary Major Depression; Characterological or Chronic Minor Depression (Dysthymic Disorder); and ‘Double Depression’. The literature indicates several factors predicting chronicity in primary major depression: more at risk are female patients, particularly those with premorbid neurotic personality traits, individuals with unipolar disorders, and those with higher familial loading for such disorders. Other factors are the adequacy and appropriateness of the treatment given, and the length of illness episode prior to treatment being received. Larger studies with well-matched controls are needed.

For three decades in the pages of foreign scientific literature, the problem of alcoholism in the family parental and marital has been discussed. Particular attention is paid to the personality of the spouses of alcoholic patients. So, for a long time, the question of the unity of the characterological traits of the wives of alcoholic patients was exaggerated, to whom a tendency to dominance, a subconscious desire to fix alcoholic vices in the husband to maintain a leading position in the family was attributed. Despite the negative results of studies rejecting the existence of a single psychological "portrait" of the wife of an alcoholic patient, the question of the choice of spousal partners in such families remains relevant.

Epilepsy is associated with interictal behavioral disturbances. The pattern of specific psychopathology differs from that of other chronic diseases because of the higher incidence of psychosis and characterological disorders. Approximately 7 percent of epileptics develop a chronic atypical psychosis with paranoid and affective features, and this may be more common in patients with a definite temporal lobe focus. Brief psychotic episodes occur and are more directly related to cerebral dysrhythmia. A subgroup of epileptics develop specific personality traits, aggressive behaviors under certain circumstances, and hyposexuality. Affective illness and suicide are also prevalent. There are special issues in the management of psychopathology in the setting of epilepsy such as the relative seizure threshold lowering effects of psychotropic drugs and the behavioral effects of altering the seizure control. This article discusses both diagnostic and management aspects of the interictal psychopathology of epilepsy.

The object of this research is the residents of Chelyabinsk, while the subject is the anxiety in perception of environmental information. Chelyabinsk was selected as a typical metropolis with the established industrial image, where the existing environmental situation differs from the average in the country. Attention is turned to the problem of environmental anxiety characteristic for people living in large cities. Analysis is conducted on the peculiarities of collective perception of information on environmental problems by urban residents, as well as environmental anxiety that occurs as a response to the environment and related information. It is noted that this problem falls not only under the scope of ecology, but also ecological consciousness of the population and image of the city. The novelty of this research lies in revealing personality traits that contribute or impede the development of anxiety in perception of information by residents of the city. Within the framework of this study, the author developed the projective test for assessing the situational anxiety. For determining personal anxiety and other accentuations, the article employs Smishek's “characterological questionnaire, as well as self-actualization test (SAT). This article is first to provide summary results of all three tests. Several groups of city residents with different response to environmental information are revealed, among which are the groups with personal and situational anxiety. The groups are described in terms of accentuations and personality traits.

Personality disorders have ever been a troublesome group. From the early 90’s ICD 10 tidied up the group. DSM-IV, IV-TR, aand then DSM 5, changed the style but not substance, leaving clinicians to grapple with thorny questions of multiple diagnoses, treatment and prognosis. International views on the utility of the diagnosis often depended upon the institution or the funding mechanism. Were fears of exclusion and stigma dominated or where there was no treatment, there was under-diagnosis, such as in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Where a label was a ticket of entry to treatment and funding, diagnostic generosity prevailed, such as in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Gender discrepancies disappeared with structured interviews, and interest grew in the category which seem to only include the most severe forms. For many years the DSM taskforce tried to shift the construct but shied away from the cliff edge; a bold new initiative did not materialise. It was left to the ICD-11 to generate a much more adventurous and positive view of how characterological traits shift under pressure, moving from something that may at first have helped patients to ‘survive’ to something that became maladaptive and harmful. With a court tested case Dr Wise will demonstrate the differences between ICD-10 and ICD-11 highlighting the more important differences: onset, course and severity descriptors. PD’s are no longer lifelong impairments. Prepare for ‘The shock of the new’!DisclosureNo significant relationships.

The psychological characteristics of professionally maladapted cadets are considered. For signs of maladjustment were taken: performance - 3,5 points and below; physical fitness - 3 points and below; high incidence: the number of days of work loss from the beginning of the school year - 11 days or more; low discipline; poor relationship with the command and with colleagues, low psychological stability. Psychological personality traits can both contribute to the military-professional adaptation, and hinder it. Well-adapted cadets for training in a military college are characterized by a high level of stress tolerance, they are curious, have flexible thinking, they have hyperthymic characterological features. Professionally maladjusted cadets are characterized by stereotyped thinking, the prevalence of anxious and exalted character traits, the use of physical force against another person, readiness for the manifestation of negative feelings with the slightest excitement (hot temper), suspicion of relations with others, the expression of negative feelings as through form (cry , screeching), and through the content of verbal responses (curses, threats), the oppositional manner in behavior from passive resistance to active struggle From established customs and laws, they are more aggressive. Based on discriminant modeling, a highly informative forecast model of military professional maladjustment of cadets was developed as part of medical and psychological support measures (Wilks lambda: 0,29207 approx. The subject of this article is the search for individual psychological peculiarities of the inconsistency between cognitive and socio-psychological development of students. The relevance of this topic is substantiated by the theoretical diversity of research on the inconsistency in psychology and the need for the development of socio-cultural and cognitive skills in the educational process. A hypothesis is advanced that the inconsistency between the processes of cognitive and socio-personal development would be variable, determining the individual psychological methods of its resolution. The goal of this research lies in conjoint analysis of cognitive and personal characteristics for assessing the inconsistency of students’ development. The author applies the correlational research design, which is defined by the goal of research and specificity of the sampling. The survey involved 34 students (18 boys and 16 girls) of the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Ural Federal University aged 18-22 (M=18.3 3 SD=0.79). The article employs the psychodiagnostic questionnaires: Aizenka EPI test; short version of the “Dark Triad of Personality” scale adapted by M. S. Egorova and others; characterological questionnaire by G. Schmishek, “Rational-experiential” questionnaire by S. Epstein adapted by T. V. Kornilova, A. Y. Razvalyaeva; Mann-Whitney U-test, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. The following gender differences are revealed: for the female students, cognitive and personal characteristics are generally more interrelated, while the pronounced affective personality traits testify to the possible tension in social communication; male students demonstrated greater proneness to rational processing of information and formation of engineering skills, while weakness of integration of the inner and outer Self, which may increase narcissistic traits, reduce self-criticism, and cause difficulties in establishment and maintenance of social contacts. The acquired results empirically  prove the importance of socio-psychological competence, and allow differentiating the technologies of its formation in the educational process.

The modern tendencies of psychology of development determine priority of the personality orientated model in the context of which child’s personality and idea of his/her integral development acquire the special value. The ambiguousness of interpretation of the phenomenon of gift and complication of his diagnostics creates serious difficulties in forming of the gifted personality, maintenance of his/her individuality and opening of talent. The aim of our paper is to determine the conditions of the educational environment for the development and adaptation of gifted children, substantiate the relationship between giftedness and adaptability, and present the results of the developed model of the adaptation process of gifted children. The category of gift belongs to the most fundamental description of personality. Nowadays there is a row of approaches to its determination. Most scientists examine a gift as a quality transformation of capabilities, as individual originality of makings, as psychological pre-condition of creative development of personality. Essence of personality development of the gifted children is determined as totality of their subjectivity, consciousness and system of values. The gifted child, unlike other children, in a greater measure is provided with ability to achieve the excellent degrees of subjectivity, consciousness, system of values, self-development in condition of successful adaptation process. Adaptation of gifted children is understood by us as a process of manifestation and development of giftedness and formation of children’s individuality in the educational environment. The social situation of development, development of gift and adaptability of the gifted children are correlated with the formation of personal reflection and self-esteem, self-confidence, value consciousness, the formation of characterological personality traits – communication, confidence, emotional stability, self-control, and reluctance to aggression. The presented model of the adaptation process determines the conditions of the educational environment for the development and adaptation of gifted children constructive relationships in the contact social environment (gifted children, parents, teachers, peers) and educational activities that contribute to adaptation and disclosure of children's giftedness through the formation of personal qualities, self-esteem, self-awareness and self-affirmation, personal values and reflection. Awareness of personal values, their own achievements and their recognition are value determinants of the development of creative abilities and personal identity of gifted children. A level, quality originality and character of the development of children’s gift are the result of a difficult cooperation of abilities, pedagogical conditions of the educational environment and psychological mechanisms of personal self- development and self-realization.

The study of the psychological characteristics of gamers is an actual task for scientists associated with the rapid spread of gadgets, an increase in the number of gamers and the number of people with problems with addictive behavior from video games. The aim of this work is to study personality traits in people with different levels of computer gaming activity. The study involved 162 people aged 18 to 30, of whom 36 were women. The respondents were offered an electronic questionnaire, which included the Leonhard-Smishek Characterological Questionnaire, the adapted Chen Internet addiction scale, the Big Five questionnaire, Osgood's semantic differential, and the Behavioral self-regulation questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using the Pearson linear correlation coefficient and the Mann-Whitney test. Calculations were performed in IBM SPSS Statistics. The results of people with a high level of dependent behavior are characterized by ambivalence: a low level of self-control and responsibility is combined with the presence of pedantry; a subjective assessment of oneself as a kinder, unselfish and honest person is adjacent to the characterization of oneself as more hostile and callous. The results obtained allowed us to make an assumption about the possibility of dividing the group of addicts into two subgroups: open, extroverted, hyperthymic, talkative people with a high rate of withdrawal syndrome and tolerance; people are introverted, closed, silent, with intrapersonal problems and health problems.

The subject of this research is the aggressive symptom complex of police officers, which implies a totality of indicators that characterize psycho-emotional state of a person (state of aggression), key characterological traits of personality (aggressiveness as an integral quality of personality), and behavioral patterns (a habit to use elements of aggressive behavior in a particular situation). The object of this research is the level of legitimate use of aggression in professional activities of the police officers. The goal lies in determination of factors that contribute to facilitation and inhibition of the legitimate level of aggression in professional activities of the police officers. Special attention is given to interpretation of aggression as an individual basis, aggressiveness as a personal basis, and aggressive behavior as a subject-activity basis within the structure of human psyche. The individual manifestations of aggressive symptom complex is viewed on the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral levels. The empirical part of the article analyzes the interrelation between the behavioral strategy chosen in a conflict situation, level of communicative aggression, and level of communicative tolerance of the police officers, taking into account gender and age factors. It is established that 85% of the police employees (regardless of gender and age) consciously choose peaceful and nonaggressive strategies to settle the conflict situation, and only 15% prefer aggressive strategy of rivalry. However, the attempt to “restrain oneself” leads to accumulation of psychoemotional tension, which provokes the experience of pleasure from bursts of spontaneous and reflected aggression, and subsequently sense of guilt and a proclivity for auto-aggression. The likelihood of manifestation or non-manifestation of the aggressive symptom complex is substantiated by facilitators / inhibitors of aggression. It was also determined the propensity to establish oneself as a reference model and the rejection of the individuality of another party is first and foremost associated with the specificity of communication cohort of the police officers, and can be considered as an option of psychological defense against premature psychoemotional burnout.

Introduction. There are many factors that significantly affect the success of an investigation. Among such factors, the knowledge of the investigating authorities about the identity of the accused is of particular importance. Studying the identity of the accused is a complex process. Today, amongst the most promising areas, there are studies that are dedicated to the study of the identity of the accused. Such studies are aimed at adapting psychological typologies to the practice of forensic personality studies. Theoretical Basis. Methods. Among the currently existing psychological typologies, the most simple, and at the same time quite widespread, is the typology of accentuated types. Due to the existing limits on the size of a single study, it is reasonable to concentrate on the development of a methodology for the accused within the framework of one particular psychological type, common among criminals. The presence of hysteroid personality traits was determined using two components: Characterological questionnaire of Leonhard – Schmishek, Tomsk typological personality questionnaire. Results. For a hysterical person communication is a means of calling attention to themselves, but not establishing contact with people. Such a person has a loud voice, a fast pace of speech and instability of these elements. The instability in speech is expressed by singling out individual words to which the hysterical person draws attention, returning after that to the former narrative style. The hysterical person often manages pause. These pauses are of such duration and frequency, so as to allow the individual time to convey his thoughts to the listeners. Pauses in speech perform not so much a syntactic as a semantic function, varying in frequency and duration depending on the situation and on the role that he choses for himself. The hysterical person has uneven intonation, a medium range of voice. The hysterical person is prone to carrying out group crimes to enhance his group status. The hysterical person is rarely inclined to perform violent crimes alone, only if he is in a state of hysterical arousal. In a criminal hierarchy, he or she very rarely gains respect. He or she is highly likely to be recruited. The likelihood of re-educating such a person in is extremely low. The likelihood of reoffending by such a person is extremely high. Discussion and Conclusion. The study showed sufficient uniqueness of the speech, behavioural and autobiographical characteristics of persons of the hysteroid type.

The article presents the results of theoretical and empirical study of the issue of diagnosing the level of development of emotional and volitional potential of highly qualified rowing athletes in kayaking and canoeing. The relevance of the research topic is determined by the importance of emotional and volitional training of athletes to achieve maximum results in sports competitions. The psychological diagnosis of emotional and volitional potential is a necessary component of such training. The aim of the article is to explore the possibilities of psychological diagnosis of the development level of emotional and volitional potential of highly qualified rowing athletes. It is proposed to use four types of methods to study the emotional and volitional potential. The first one includes methods for determining the values of the available emotional and volitional potential on the basis of self-assessment and expert assessment and those which are based on certain specific test to determine the data of its reserve. The second one is focused on the diagnosis of various emotional and volitional personality traits such as emotionality, emotional maturity, anxiety, emotional stability, confidence, perseverance, self-control, etc. The third one includes methods of assessing such personal characteristics as achievement motivation; the level of development of cognitive processes, characterological features, as well as certain individual and dynamic data. The fourth one includes means of assessing the skills and abilities of self-stabilization in the prestarting situation and in the process of solving a competitive issue. The results of approbation the first type of methods showed that the data obtained through expert assessment of emotional and volitional potential of athletes, selfassessment of athletes` own potential and testing the emotional and volitional capabilities during physical exercises correspond to the objective achievements of rowers in sporting competitions and their sport qualifications. However, most of all it concerns the expert assessment.

The article reveals the causes and features of burnout syndrome in specialists of inclusive resource centers. The main groups of factors that contribute to the formation of burnout are identified, which include: individual personality traits (characterological, self-esteem, education, etc.); organizational (content of work, work overload, working conditions); features of professional activity. There are also recommendations for prevention and assistance to specialists of inclusive resource centers in overcoming the burnout syndrome. The issue of psychoprophylactic measures to prevent and overcome this phenomenon due to the high probability of developing burnout is summarized, the main areas of preventive and rehabilitation care for specialists of inclusive resource centers to overcome, prevent and prevent burnout are summarized. It is proved that with a high probability of developing the syndrome of their professional burnout, the issue of psychoprophylactic measures of prevention and overcoming this phenomenon acquires relevance. There are two main areas of preventive and rehabilitation work. It is proved that the activity of specialists of inclusive-resource centers is characterized by high intensity, saturation of actions, frequent intervention of external factors, a wide network of contacts of different levels, the predominance of direct speech (oral) communication with other people. It is determined that the activity is saturated with many organizational and socio-psychological stresses. And the specifics of the activity causes the presence of various stress-genic situations that create preconditions for the occurrence of professional burnout syndrome. Consequently, professional burnout syndrome is an extremely harmful condition that negatively affects all areas of human activity. Therefore, this phenomenon requires timely diagnosis, individual and group work. It is important to prevent the occurrence of the main symptoms of professional burnout, as well as the formation of skills to effectively overcome professional stress.

The subject of this research is the individual psychological characteristics for learning teamwork skills. The relevance of the selected topic is defined by solving the tasks of teaching team interaction skills in the process of professional training of specialists, as well by insufficient empirical data on psychological mechanisms of pedagogical influence upon the effectiveness of tram-building process. The goal consists in comparing individual traits of the students and nature of their relationships, which determine the type of team interaction. For achieving the set goal and verification of the advanced hypothesis, the author surveyed teams of students (N=11) based on quasi-experimental plan. Along with the comparative design and correlation design, the author also applied the following psychodiagnostic methods: Eysenck's Personality Inventory (EPI), questionnaire for emotional intelligence by D. V. Lusin, “lifestyle index” method (adapted by L. I. Wasserman and others), characterological questionnaire by G. Shmishek, self-esteem model by A. Budassi; as well as statistical methods: Kruskal-Wallis criterion, Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient. Based on the acquired results, the author empirically describes the types of team: “introverted”, “restless-intellectual”, “inconsistent”, “narcissistic”, and “aggressive-manipulative”. Comparability of the types of teams with characteristics of “dark triad-tetrad” is determined. The novelty of this work consists in the empirical substantiation of differential approach towards teaching teamwork skills, as well as in outlining the two key trends in pedagogical work with the students. The first is aimed at overcoming social insecurity by means of intellectual self-affirmation. The second implies the students’ desire to exercise control over emotions and the object of relations. The proposed recommendations for work with each type of team can be implemented in pedagogical practice of the higher school.

Purpose: A socio-psychophysiological assessment of the adaptation of two patients with local radiation injuries (LRI) of the hands of severe and moderate severity and acute radiation sickness (ARS) of the 1st degree, according to the characteristics of their individual mental adaptation and the stages of the course of local radiation injuries (30 years of observation). Material and methods: Psychophysiological examination was carried out on two patients, former border guards, who were injured on October 5, 1982 as a result of accidental contact with a source of gamma radiation (cesium – 137) while on duty while serving on the Iranian-Azerbaijani border in the ranks of the USSR army. They suffered grade I ARS with extremely uneven gamma irradiation in the form of local radiation injuries of the hands of varying severity. The assessment of the average dose to the whole body by the frequency of dicentrics in the cultures of peripheral blood lymphocytes in patient No. 1 and patient No. 2 is the same and amounts to 0.26 Gy. One of them, patient No. 1, had a local radiation injury of the left and right hand of the III degree of severity. In 1984 – 1985, he underwent amputation of the nail phalanges of the 1st and 2nd fingers of the left hand; in 2003, skin grafting was performed for late radiation ulcer of the 3rd fingers of the left hand. Patient No. 2 had grade III-IV LRI in both hands with severe and extremely severe sequelae of local radiation damage to both hands. Amputation stumps 1 – 5 fingers of the right and left hand. Rough cicatricial – atrophic changes in the skin of the left hand with a violation of its function. Condition after multiple surgical interventions, including autotransplantation of full-thickness flaps on vascular pedicles. Psychophysiological research was carried out in dynamics in 2001, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013 using the automated software and methodological complex “Expert”, designed to study personal properties of a person, cognitive and intellectual characteristics of a person according to the MMPI method, the Cattell,s 16-Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF), Raven’s Progressive Matrices test, sensorimotor reaction (SSR, СSR) and reaction to a moving object (RMO). Results: According to MMPI data, both victims have a hyperthymic type of psychophysiological adaptation with varying degrees of severity. Patient No. 2 is a chronically hyperthymic personality with a significant increase in the profile on scale 9 and with a gradual increase in dynamics, which reflects the persistence of hyperthymic personality characteristics and causes an overstrain of mental adaptation, with an increase in the dynamics of the tendency to explain their difficulties and problems with somatic ill-being (1Hs). Characterological features were determined by high emotionality (factor A – 9.8 stan), sufficiently high intelligence (factor B – 7.3 stan), sufficient integration and sthenism of behavior, high dominance and freedom of behavior (factor F – 8.5 stan), due to a propensity for increased self-esteem, a high propensity to take risks (H – 9.3 stan), down-to-earth interests (factor M). Very high extroverted behavior (factor F2 –--- 9.9 stan). High rates of the Raven test and sensorimotor reactions. Thus, the personality profile of patient No. 2 has the form of a pronounced chronic hyperthymic personality, which determines the overstrain of mental adaptation, with manifestations of psychosomatic hypochondria. Patient No. 1, according to the data of psychophysiological examination, revealed a hyperthymic personality type with a moderate increase in the dynamics of the profile on the ninth scale. The personality trait is also indicated by a high, growing in dynamics, indicator on the K scale, which determines behavior depending on social approval and concern for one’s social status. On the first three scales (1, 2, 3) there is a type of conversion V – this is a combination of unpleasant physical sensations with vegetative anxiety and with a predominance of demonstrative tendencies aimed at overcoming difficulties caused by the state of health (scales 1 and 3). The appearance in dynamics (2013) of a peak on scales 1 and 4 determines the insufficient ability to internalize the social norm, i.e. insufficient ability to perceive this norm as part of their own attitudes (combination of profile peaks on scales 4 and 9). The presence of profile peaks on the 7th scale and on the scales of the neurotic triad reflect the tendency towards various options for the implementation of asocial attitudes in a socially acceptable way, the desire to look in a favorable light (scale L). A sufficiently high intelligence and demonstrative behavior determine good adaptation to the environment with self-confidence, high social adaptability, and resilience in overcoming difficulties. Conclusion: Psychophysiological assessment of personality and current mental state determined individual personality traits in two patients with hyperthymic type of psychophysiological adaptation of varying severity, who underwent ARS, severe and extremely severe local radiation injuries 30 years after the radiation incident, respectively. A significant increase in the profile on the 9th scale in patient No. 2 was constantly detected, reflecting the persistence of the described personality traits characteristic of chronically hyperthymic individuals. A high level of hyperthymic activity causes him to overstrain his psychophysiological adaptation, with manifestations of psychosomatic hypochondria A moderate increase in the profile on scale 9 and scale 3 characterized patient No. 1 as an optimistic, energetic and capable of high activity person, concerned about his social status (high values on the K scale). The appearance in the dynamics (2013) of a peak on the 1 (concern with the state of health) and 4 on the scale (emotional tension in direct behavior) determine the insufficient ability to internalize the social norm, i.e. insufficient ability to perceive this norm as part of one’s own attitudes (combination of profile peaks on scales 4 and 9). The presence of profile peaks on the 7th scale and the scales of the neurotic triad reflect the tendency for the implementation of asocial attitudes in a socially acceptable way.

In the article the manifestation of gelotophobia (fear of being laughed at) in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd-year students aged 17–22 years is described. The aim of the present study was to in-vestigate the manifestation of the fear of being laughed at and its influence on the components of students’ psychological health as a factor of predisposition to mental health disorders. According to this aim, three tasks were set. The first task was to identify the differences in gelotophobia depending on the duration of education and gender. The second task was to establish a link between personality traits and the level of gelotophobia. The third task was to observe the relationship between components of psychological health (resilience, stress management) and the level of gelotophobia. To identify the level of fear of being laughed at in a sample of students, we set the scales of the "GELOPH-15" questionnaire and specified them as low, moderate and high gelotophobia scores. Then, using the frequency analysis of students’ answers to this questionnaire, we found out that most responses indicated a moderate level of gelotophobia (71%), only 16% of answers indicate a low level, and 10% of answers present a high level of fear of being laughed at. Also 3% of students did not answer this ques-tionnaire. The results of this study demonstrated that gelotophobia is more typical for female than for male students. The data also showed that the manifestation of gelotophobia didn’t correlate to the duration of education. A comparative analysis using the Student's t-test in the female and male subgroups identified that young women in socially significant cases could hardly tolerate negative situations. Young men, on the other hand, were able to cope with stressful situations if they had internal balance. Using the Spearman rank test, a correlation analysis was performed between the scales of the characterological questionnaire and the level of gelotophobia. A relationship with the total score of gelotophobia, as well as with the average and low score of gelotophobia was found. No correlation with a high score of gelotophobia was found. The analysis of the results obtained showed that resilience and its components (involvement, control and risk acceptance) helps to reduce stress and the influ-ence of negative factors that cause fear in socially significant situations. The results corre-spond to the above stated aims and tasks. Further work in this direction will make it possible to develop a program of psychological support for students.

The article examines the narrative organization of Jonathan Littell’s novel Les Bienveillantes [The Kindly Ones], dedicated to the events of World War II and offering the experience of an artistic understanding of the Holocaust. Maximilien Aue, the protagonist and narrator of Les Bienveillantes, is an ex-officer of the SS and SD. The author of the article attempts to explain how his personality traits influence the specifics of the novel’s narrative. She shows that Aue’s important characteristic is infantility; this feature determines his behavior, perception, and, as a consequence, the specifics of the narrative. In the analysis of the novel, the author uses narratological methodology. She studies aspects illustrating manifestations of Aue’s infantility: relationship with his family, joining the ranks of the SD, direct participation in the extermination of the Jewish people and performance of official duties; transformation of his mental state; his behavior in situations that threaten his freedom. The author shows that Aue is unable to break the infantile relationship with his family: the narrative contains his childhood memories and his thoughts about his family as part of the story of the tragic events of the Holocaust. The author reveals that Aue’s involvement in service to the Third Reich is unconscious: his decision to join the SD is not based on ideological reasons, but on the fear of criminal punishment and the physical discomfort he experiences. When completing errands, Aue pursues his own interests rather than official duties (in particular, he compiles a photo album with executions instead of a formalized report). Metamorphoses of Aue’s mental state also testify to his infantile consciousness. The author analyzes dreams and fantasies that indicate Aue’s immaturity. His dreams perform a characterological function in the novel: they show his failure as a leader. Aue’s lack of empathy shows in his inability to sympathize with the victims of the genocide; it determines the speech features of his story such as the neutral narration about the executions, shocking comparisons and associations, the physiological nature of the narrative language. Aue’s infantility also leads to his inability to take responsibility for his actions; his self-consciousness develops many years later. Aue’s maturity shows in the recognition of his own non-exclusivity and in the intention to write a novel—to return to his experience of participating in Jewish actions. The choice of a bearer of infantile consciousness as the narrating protagonist in Les Bienveillantes indicates that modern literature is attempting to comprehend the situation of a person embroiled in hostilities, in the situation of no choice.

The subject of this research is the images of game and gamers. In the space of literary work, they are arrayed in metaphorical and often demonic raiment, receiving moral-ethical interpretation in one or another way. The problem of game and gamer in criticism was regarded by Y. Mann (“On the Concept of Game as a Literary Image”), V. V. Vinogradov (“Style of the Queen of Spades”), E. Dobin (“Ace and Queen”, A. Pushkin’s “The Queen of Spades”), R. Caillois (“Games and People”), British writer and researcher of online games R, Bartle, American scientist Nick Yee, and many others. However, juxtaposition of literature sources on the topic to the research in the field of computer games is conducted for the first time. The scientific novelty consists in the comprehensive examination of the psychological game of the gamer based on the material of Russian literature (A. S. Pushkin “The Queen of Spades”, V. V. Nabokov The Luzhin Defense”) , as well as the modern computer games practice, in which psychological type of the gamer found its realization and development in accordance with genre diversity. Even the Russian classical literature depict game as an autonomous space that encompasses the gamer, and often has devastating effect on their personality. The author also observes an important characterological trait of the gamer: the conceptual, “literal” perception of the world, which is based on the reception of visual images of the world against verbal. Therefore, the Russian literature alongside the research practice of modern videogames from different angles approach examination of the images of “game and gamer”, cognize the factors and consequences of the problems that emerge in this object field, as well as seek for their solution. The data acquired in the course of the conducted comparative analysis is mutually enriching.

The effectiveness of the process of socialization of a child with autism spectrum disorders depends on a number of complex unresolved issues, as well as on the theoretical and methodological development of correctional programs. Despite the large number of works devoted to the study of various aspects of the development of children with ASD, it should be noted that in the domestic and foreign literature has not formed an established, full definition of this issue. The purpose of the article is to review the theoretical aspect of the study of speech features in autistic disorders in preschool children. The analysis of domestic and foreign literature on the problem of RAS, its essence, speech features and communicative interaction of children with others. Manifestations of speech development in preschool children with autism spectrum disorders that affect the process of socialization are characterized. The variety of behavioural features of children with ASD and personality traits are considered. It is established that autism spectrum disorders in children have a number of characterological features of development and behaviour that are not inherent in other nosologies, namely: stereotyped movements and manifestations, communication disorders (verbal and nonverbal), regression of interests, lack of interest in interacting with others. Most scientists have come to the conclusion, that RAS is a specific state of a child’s development, which manifests itself in sensory-perceptual disorders and deficits, and therefore requires detailed study and development of corrective techniques that will allow to correct personality development. It was found that preschoolers with autism spectrum disorders have a number of difficulties in establishing social interaction, which is associated with the characteristics of development, and significantly affects the process of socialization of the child in society. The researchers noted that the inclusive education of children with ASD should be based on two areas: behaviour correction and the formation of skills and abilities. Correction methods should be developed individually through a comprehensive approach to the individual.Key words: autistic disorders, ASD, speech development, communicative activity, socialization.

In the last two decades, many works have appeared in the scientific literature devoted to the experimental psychological study of the personality of patients with alcoholism [36]. In the most fundamental of them [6], the main personality types were identified on a large sample of alcoholics using the MMPI technique. However, it remains unclear what characterological features were introduced in the process of alcohol abuse, since all patients with alcoholism were subjected to research, regardless of alcohol "experience", the structure and rate of the disease. At the same time, in practice, it is very important to assess the personality of patients with alcoholism, the ratio of characterological features at various stages of the disease.

On the basis of the principle of complementarity, which takes into account the interaction of transitive and situational factors, the article discusses the characterological features of subjects exhibiting and experiencing discriminatory behaviour. Basing on empirical data we collected the author's questionnaire with elements of repertoire lattices aimed at identifying discriminatory attitudes of the person, Raymond Bernard Cattell's 16 Personality Factors Test and questionnaire test by Hansgeorg Schmieschek, Karl Leonhard, it is shown that subjects exposed to discriminatory attitudes are characterised by credulity, independence, an uncritical attitude towards oneself, while subjects exhibiting a discriminatory attitude are characterised by low normative behaviour, hypertimacy and internal stress. It is concluded that the study of the characterological characteristics of the subjects of discriminatory behaviour seems to be a very important aspect in its prevention and correction.

The results of the study allow us to assert that the professional suitability of a nurse is influenced by a number of characterological abilities, including such as moral normativity, neuropsychic stability, adaptive abilities, and communication skills. Conclusion. When hiring, a psychodiagnostic examination should be carried out to study the characterological characteristics of future employees, which will reduce the turnover of personnel in pediatric departments. Taking into account the psychological characteristics that affect the professional suitability to work in the pediatric department, it is possible not only to select the most psychologically ready staff, but also to prevent the development of professional deformations and burnout syndrome in employees.

The topic of the article is relevant as the present-day developments of social and economic changes in our society pose new challenges for pedagogical science in terms of innovative changes based on the international scientific and practical experience of many countries of the world - the USA and also countries of Western and Eastern Europe, representing a new stage of education development complying with the globalization epos, formation of socially oriented economy which requires implementation of radical reforms in education. The purpose of the article is to characterize and theoretically substantiate the features of innovative approaches to creation of contemporary education; to discover pedagogical technologies in the process of achieving the innovative goals of education. The article defines the content of theoretical ideas about education in the knowledge society in the context of appearance of its social reality. The research methodology is built in terms of cultural and historical epistemology, which is based on the analysis of socio-economic attitudes to knowledge and cognition using a comparative review of theoretical developments with the real situation. Changes in politics and social priorities introduced a fundamentally new paradigm of higher education in Ukraine, based on the ideas of the growth of spiritual and intellectual potential of each young person, comprehensive development of one’s personality by introducing a humanistic type of thinking, forming a new mentality, awareness of the multicultural perspectives of the human society development, as well as understanding, recognition and ensuring the culture common to all mankind. The new paradigm of education and upbringing is aimed at transferring from the upbringing of a citizen of a particular country to the upbringing of a citizen of the world, i. e. a person with a sense of responsibility whose education and morality correspond to the complexity of tasks to be solved. This approach means gradual replacement of the causal, deterministic principle of cognition of reality within each discipline with modern methodological approaches.

Objective: Previous studies investigating the association between body weight and personality traits have found mixed results. This paper uses a large data set and two different study designs (cross-sectional and longitudinal) to provide more consistent estimates of the effect of personality traits on obesity. Methods: The present study is based on data from the German Socio-Economic Panel (GSOEP) from the waves 2005 to 2013; GSOEP is a longitudinal survey of private households in Germany that has been carried out since 1984. Responses provided data about personality, measured using the BFI-S Questionnaire, data for self-rated body mass index BMI (to determine the obesity level), as well as information for potential confounders. Cross-sectional and longitudinal logistic regression models were used. Results: The cross-sectional study yielded statistically significant results for the association between the outcome variable and four personality factors neuroticism, extraversion, openness and agreeableness. After controlling for several potential confounders, the association between obesity and extraversion, openness as well as agreeableness remained; additionally, the personality factor consciousness reached statistical significance. In the longitudinal study, a statistically significant association was found only for two personality factors, namely extraversion and agreeableness. After adding the control variables, the FE-regression yielded an association only for agreeableness (negative). Gender differences were not significant. Discussion: The findings show that results of a cross-sectional study design differ from the outcome of the longitudinal study design. The latter stresses the association between excess weight and the personality factor agreeableness, contrasting with most outcomes of previous research.

Анотація:
Personality psychologists have become increasingly interested in how personality varies across social roles. Within this ‘contextualized’ approach, researchers almost invariably focus on assessing personality traits. Although these characteristics are no doubt important components of personality, there are many aspects of the person that are not adequately represented by traits. This article fleshes out the nature of these additional personality characteristics relevant to contextualized personality. I argue that, just as the study of personality in its generalized form has benefitted from recognition of three conceptual levels (viz. traits, goals and life narratives), so too would contextualized approaches to personality. Evidence of the predictive ability of context–specific goals and narratives is provided, as is discussion of the functional relations among variables at personality's three conceptual levels, and the interplay between contextualized and generalized self–representations. During this discussion, I argue for adoption of a relational meta–theory in the study of personality. Considerable gains can be made in understanding personhood by uniting appreciation of context with a multilevel conception of personality.
