This paper examines the extent to which it is possible to replace conventional light commercial vehicles in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning and plumbing trade with battery electric vehicles with an unchanged usage profile. GPS trackers are used to record the position data of 22 craft vehicles with combustion engines from eleven companies over the duration of one working week. Within this paper, various assumptions (battery capacity and average consumption) are made for battery electric vehicles and the charging power on the company premises. The potential of battery electric vehicles is evaluated based on the assumption that they are charged only on company premises. Using the collected data and the assumptions made, theoretical state of charge curves are calculated for the vehicles. The driving profiles of the individual vehicles differ greatly, and the suitability of battery electric vehicles should be considered individually. Battery capacity, vehicle energy consumption and charging power at the company have a substantial influence on the suitability of battery electric vehicles. Furthermore, there are differences between vehicles that can charge on the company premises at night and those that cannot or can only do so on some days.

The city of Kyoto witnessed Japan’s first public-owned electric utility and first hydraulic station for general supply, and was the first Japanese city in which every household became electrified. Behind these achievements, the interaction between the privately owned Kyoto Electric Light Company and the government-owned Kyoto Municipal Electric Works were important. By exploring their origin, collusion, competition, and demarcation between them from 1887 to 1915, this article addresses business–government relations in the history of Japanese electrification through the case of Kyoto.

The Tokyo Electric Light Company, Inc., the largest electric power company in pre-war Japan, took an active merger policy and started accounting manipulations to maintain high dividends in the 1920’s. It, however, suffered extensive damage in 1923 when the Great Kanto Earthquake occurred and covered the damage by devising the appraisal profits of its fixed capital, which, though frequent in those days, constituted arbitrary accounting manipulations with no objective criteria. The Great Kanto Earthquake induced moral hazards to its management resulting in normalization of the accounting manipulations in the best interest of high dividends. Such accounting manipulations triggered the intervention of Mitsui Bank, Ltd. in its management, and partly contributed to the government control of electric power. As disasters are likely to show the inherent problems within companies, any temporary solution would instead result in more severe consequences.

Founded in 1892, General Electric set out to dominate the American electrical industry. This article is an explanation of how the company accomplished this goal in the highly profitable electric lamp (“light bulb”) market. GE's techniques included technology leadership through in-house development and the purchase of patent rights, discriminatory agreements with suppliers based on market power, and cartel arrangements of various sorts, both foreign and domestic. The article shows how one company was able to use financial and market power, combined with early control of a rapidly developing technology, to gain and then hold a major American market for half a century.

Abstract In the 1970s, energy conservation was a household idea, but it was also a form of labor discipline. This article shows how one utility, the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company (PP&L), used energy conservation to discipline unwaged workers in the home, upending decades of home economics research that sought to substitute electric energy for human energy in housework. To effectively deploy this strategy, PP&L drew on utilities’ well-established understanding of women's unwaged work in the home as central to balancing the rhythms of power demand. By exploring this history, this article also argues that by adopting a more expansive understanding of labor in energy systems—which I term “energy work”—we can better understand the interrelationship of labor, gender, and power in the operation of energy systems and more fully incorporate the history of unwaged workers into the history of energy.

This article presents details of a report on new and future trends in trucking. According to the report, fleet owners may quickly adopt electronic vehicles (EV) for medium-haul routes. In November 2017, Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the design for a battery-powered semi that could travel 500 miles on a single charge. According to Musk, the company would begin producing the trucks in 2019. The report highlighted the regional light-duty delivery market in Europe, where fuel costs are higher than in the United States. Designing vehicles and business models around the capabilities of electric powertrains—capabilities that differ from those of diesel trucks—are expected to enable battery-electric trucks to penetrate the market more quickly.

The advances in electric mobility, motivated by current sustainability issues, have led public and private organizations to invest in the electrification of their corporate fleets. To succeed in this transition, companies must mitigate the impacts of electrification on their fleet operation, in particular the ones on vehicle recharging. The increase in energy demand caused by electrification may require changes in the company electrical infrastructure, the installation of charging stations, and the proper planning of the recharging schedule, considering the particularities of each fleet and operation. In this context, data analytics is seen as an important tool to help companies to understand their charging fleet profile, supporting decision makers in making data-driven decisions regarding their charging infrastructure. This paper shows how data analytics could be applied to analyze the charging data of corporate electric fleets, adopting a business-oriented analysis method based on the Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) methodology. The analyses were performed on data collected from three different companies, with each one of them operating fleets of vehicles of different categories, i.e., ultra-light, light, and heavy vehicles. The results illustrate how data analytics, based on interactive reports and dashboards, can shed light on business questions related to the operation of electric vehicle corporate fleets.

Organic light emitting diodes is a new display technology, which uses organic thin materials that are placed between conductors. When an electric current is applied, a bright light is emitted. OLEDs are thin, transparent, flexible, foldable displays. In 1987 researchers of Eastman Kodak company invented OLED diode technology. The principal inventors were Chemists Ching W. Tang and Steven Van Slyke. In 2001 they received an Industrial Innovation Award from the American Chemical Society for their contribution in organic light emitting diodes. In 2003, Kodak realised its first OLED display had 512 by 218 pixels, 2.2 inch. Two technologies necessary to make flexible OLEDs were invented by Researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the Department of Energy. Many researchers are contributing to improve the OLED technology. In this paper we give a brief of what is OLED, types of OLED, different fabrication methods of OLED, advantages and disadvantages of OLED.

Gerhard composed Pandora in wartime Cambridge, England, between December 1942 and April 1943. It was commissioned for Europe's leading Modern Dance company, the Ballet Jooss, which had left Germany and its Essen base after Hitler's seizure of power, and had established itself, more or less precariously, in England. The score is dedicated ‘to Alice Isabella Roughton’, and uses the ensemble of two pianos with light percussion which Jooss had favoured since the earliest days in Germany and now found well suited to conditions of wartime austerity.

Signs of improvement in the early twentieth-century Brazilian economy enabled a process of urban renewal. One of the most visible features of Brazilian urban modernization was street and house lighting, as well as electricity for tramways and industry. Conflicts between the Canadian company Light and the Brazilian firm CBEE over the supply of urban electricity to Brazil's main economic centers—Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Salvador—mirror the contradictions in the country's capitalist formation during the first decades of the twentieth century. From an emerging market view, and through political debates, this article addresses the development of electric utilities in major Brazilian cities.

This work aims to reuse the electric energy used in three-phase induction motors of an industrial plastic injector for the lighting circuit of the same warehouse where the injectors are located, thus eliminating the need to use the energy of the electric company. Any resource that reuses electricity with better efficiency becomes essential today, making it a solution for industries that are thinking of saving the energy used in the productive processes in the manufacture of goods.This project uses a synchronous generator coupled to a three-phase induction motor of a plastic injector, which will reuse the electrical energy used of the induction motor to mechanically drive the synchronous generator, that will be able to generate enough electrical power in its coils for a 47-light shed lighting circuit, thus eliminating the need to use utility power, saving a portion of the energy usage costs on the monthly bill. This installation of the synchronous generator was performed on equipment of the company Moto Honda da Amazônia, which has a 24-hour operating regime for six days a week.

László Moholy-Nagy worked on the prototype for Light Prop for an Electric Stage for eight years, from 1922 to 1930, developing several sketches and designs. The final drawings and model were made with the collaboration of the Hungarian architect Stefan Sebök (István Sebők). The device was built by the AEG company, and it was displayed for the first time in the Werkbund exhibition held in Paris in 1930, where it appeared as an autonomous aesthetic object. This was clearly captured in the film Light Play: Black-White-Gray, in which Moholy-Nagy recorded its kinetic quality in the spirit of the abstract films developed at that time. The film clearly shows the motion of the lighting device as a formal exercise of abstraction using double exposures, special effects and close-ups. The Light Prop underwent several alterations over time to keep it working in a variety of exhibitions around Europe and America. In 1956, after Moholy-Nagy passed away, his widow, Sibyl Moholy-Nagy, donated it to the Harvard Busch-Reisinger Museum, where it has remained ever since. After further damage caused by inappropriate restoration and its mechanical instability, the Light Prop was reconstructed in 1969 for the exhibition From Pigment to Light, celebrated at the Howard Wise Gallery in New York (Tsai et al. 2017). The idea of a copy emerged during the planning of this exhibition to preserve the legacy of Moholy-Nagy’s knowledge. Sibyl Moholy-Nagy finally approved this idea in 1970, allowing the production of two copies, one for the exhibition and the other for the 35th Venice Biennale (1970). Both reproductions were kept and sent to the Bauhaus Archive in Darmstadt and the Van Abbemuseum, where the original device had suffered repeated damage during the KunstLichtKunst exhibition (1966). The essay attempts to trace the timeline of modifications from the original device to the reproductions.

Montreal, July 1991. Dress Rehearsal. It was hot and muggy and the gnats were rising in clouds from the tall grass with every footstep. I was lugging my script, Mag light, pen, jacket, and mosquito repellent up a hill in the failing light, walking the uneven path to the next scene that the audience would walk in a couple days time when we opened the production of Romeo and Juliet that David Hudgins and I were co-directing in Mount Royal Park. I remember thinking, “Who in their right mind is going to come see this show? Only a masochist would give up the comfort of the theatre to traipse through the woods and sit on the — What’s sticking to my shoe? Is that a condom? — ground, swatting crawling bugs off their ankles and out of their eyes in order to watch a play.” Then I reached my destination: a rocky promontory shaded by the arching branches of trees, lit by scattered glowing lanterns, and looking out over rolling hills. Overhead, the leaves rustled in a slight breeze and the sound of city traffic on the Avenue du Pare was a distant background thrum. The dirt floor still held the heat of the day and the scent of dust mixed with that of the decaying underbrush. This was our site for the crypt.

Abstract Often the criteria for designing office lighting is to increase efficiency through a bright and evenly distributed lighting. Yet, research has found that this static lighting leads to an unstimulating, boring, and dull luminous environment that supports neither task focus, nor a pleasant atmosphere. The goal of this paper is to create a closer connection to a natural light environment by designing an office lighting that inspired by light as natural phenomenon creates a lively and more nature-based atmosphere. We developed a lighting design with focus on analysing the perceived atmosphere as a metric for a dynamic lighting design for a meeting room of a real estate company in Denmark. Through a mixed method approach, we explore the design factors that determine the desired natural atmosphere. Our design aims at enhancing the function of the meeting room as a formal space where negotiations are held by 1) presenting the identity of the company to the business partners; and 2) supporting employees’ sense of belonging to the company culture. As a result, our lighting design creates a lighting hierarchy in line with the architectural elements of the space, complementing daylight through electric lighting in a dynamic way, accounting for both sky-type and daylight inflow.

Lighting experiments were performed in a real context populated with dummies and objects. Using the King’s College Chapel in Cambridge as a case study, two field surveys of concert lighting were performed, one with the chapel empty and one with it occupied. In each survey, photometric data were collected under three electric lighting conditions and from six different viewing positions. A comparative analysis indicates that the data gathered from the occupied space represent the luminances more accurately, present a more detailed description of the light distribution, and provide a more extensive set of variables characterising the geometrical details of the visual scene. This study demonstrates the importance of using occupied spaces and considering the presence of occupants in field studies, which could be useful for obtaining a more complete understanding of complex luminous environments.

Recently, much research is being developed to improve sustainability in the transportation sector due to its impact on carbon dioxide (CO2) production, climate change, and fossil fuel resources. Railways in the world have started to use solar power assistance to improve sustainability in the transportation sector. The Brazilian Company of Urban Trains operates a Brazilian Light Rail Vehicle (BLRV) for passenger transportation in Brazil. This article is a study on the potential of environmental and economic benefits of the installation of solar panels in the BLRV roof, operated in the urban metropolitan area of João Pessoa, to provide assistance on electric load. The results show that the installation of photovoltaic system in the roofs of the total fleet of BLRVs operated in João Pessoa railway can save about R$ 800,000.00 and reduce the emission of 540 tons of CO2 in 10 years.

Abstract In 1727 the Revd George Lewis (c. 1663–1729) donated a wooden cabinet containing a diverse collection of items, including many manuscripts, to Cambridge University Library. Lewis was chaplain to the East India Company at Fort St George, Madras, 1692–1714 when the contents of the cabinet were collected. The cabinet and its contents are described, as are the interests and activities of Lewis, while in Fort St George. The manuscript collection is described in further detail and the ways in which it reflects Lewis’s own interests are assessed. This investigation throws new light on the Lewis collection, the man, his interests and his life.

Stanley company headquartered in Japan until now PT ISE has 34 branch companies in several countries outside of Japan. Stanley Company in Indonesia is a subsidiary branch to 24, which is named PT Indonesia Stanley Electric (PT ISE). PT Indonesia Stanley Electric is located at Jl. BhumiMas 1 No. Cikupamas Industrial Area 17, where the company is using the Rolling Door as a means of exit and entry of Forklift who still use manual systems and for operation by pressing the open or close button made by a another operator to operate Rolling Door. Smartphones with Android operating system more widely available in the market at a more affordable price. Android operating system itself is open source operating system that can be modified according to user needs. The control system uses the Android-based smartphone is used to control the Rolling Door from a certain distance without having to interact directly with the Rolling Door. In this study, a prototype device Rolling Door control system automatically uses the Android-based Smartphone controls associated with the program of the microcontroller ATMega8 implanted using the Bluetooth network. In a mechanical system that is functioning there is a DC motor to drive the Rolling Door, the system switches to use proximity switches to determine the stopping point of the system. For electronic systems use 12 volt dc relay circuit, and using bluetooth module HC-05. With this system the user can operate the tool to open and close the Rolling Door via Smartphone, in addition to be used as a means of communication but also used as a device that is communicated to control a hardware device.

According to data about GIS breakdown maintenance in Maintenance Branch of State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company during recent years, GIS accident of Chongqing Electric Power Company that happens every year is internal fault of local air chambers (such as breaker, PT and bus) in most cases. Once accident happens, a high requirement will be proposed for water prevention and damp prevention at the site during either on-site inspection for the accident cause or replacement for the damaged equipment. In order to effectively cover the first hole of the opened GIS air chamber and make the operation environment meet rain-proof and damp-proof requirements during internal examination for GIS air chamber, a design scheme of mobile GIS maintenance room is proposed in this paper. SF6 detection equipment as well as temperature and humidity examination equipment is installed in the maintenance room, so as to measure multiple parameters and to guarantee light transmission, ventilation and fire resistance. It is convenient for installation and disassembly, and the space can be adjusted. It is suitable for GIS equipment maintenance at the voltage class of 220kV.

This article reveals the current problems of the development of industries and sectors of the country’s economy in the conditions of sanctions pressure, import substitution, the development of the concept of sustainable development. The present study reports a critical review of NIO′s business model considering the evolving landscape of the electric vehicle market and servicing. The objective of this study is to develop a comprehensive framework that facilitates the identification of key elements characterizing a company’s business model and highlights ongoing transformations crucial for adaptation and survival in a rapidly changing environmental context. Focusing on the case study of NIO, a relatively young Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specializing in high-tech electric cars, the research delves into the challenging scenario of the Chinese electric vehicle market, which recently faced a bubble in 2023. The market proliferation, supply chain disruptions, and price wars triggered by Tesla have resulted in a survival struggle for numerous automotive startups, leaving larger companies with increasing market shares. Despite facing adversities, NIO managed to secure a promising segment catering to premium-range battery electric vehicles (BEVs), establishing a competitive advantage through differentiation. By pursuing ambitious investments, the company aims to create economies of scope and achieve cost leadership, venturing into new market sectors and vertically integrating the production chain. Given NIO’s agility in adapting to market conditions, aggressive entry into new segments, and a strategic vision for the future, it serves as an excellent candidate for testing and validating the proposed framework. Результаты многочисленных исследований доказали, что высокое гидростатическое давление (HPP), ультрафиолетовое излуче- ние (UV), импульсный свет (PL), ультразвуковая стерилизация (US), импульсное электрическое поле (PEF), облучение и холодная плазма (CP) способны обеззаразить патогены пищевого происхождения, обеспечить безопасность и высо- кое качество продукции, увеличить срок ее хранения, а также сократить время обработки и снизить производственные затраты. Промышленное внедрение этих технологий может стать эффективной альтернативой традиционной терми- ческой обработке. В данный обзор включены статьи за 2010–2023 гг., опубликованные на английском и русском язы- ках. Поиск научной литературы проводили по ключевым словам в библиографических базах Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed и Google Scholar. При отборе публикаций приоритет отдавали источникам с высоким уровнем цитируемости. Использовали методы поиска и скрининга научной литературы, извлечения данных и их анализа, систематизации и обобщения. Обобщены данные об антимикробной активности современных технологий обработки и их воздействии на биопленку. Представлены 7 различных технологий (HPP, UV, PL, US, PEF, облучение, CP), их механизм воздействия на биопленки, инактивацию регулярной микробной активности с повре ждением проницаемо сти клеточной мембраны и воздействием на внутриклеточные компоненты. Результаты обзора могут быть использованы для дальнейших иссле- дований и представляют интерес для предприятий пищевой промышленности с целью внедрения этих технологий для предотвращения загрязнения, вызванного бактериальными биопленками, и поддержания качества продуктов питания. Modern non-traditional sterilization technologies are an effective method of food processing and have signifi cant advantages over heat treatment. Numerous studies have proven that high hydrostatic pressure (HPP), ultraviolet radiation (UV), pulsed light (PL), ultrasonic sterilization (US), pulsed electric fi eld (PEF), irradiation and cold plasma (CP) can effectively decontaminate foodborne pathogens. origin, ensure safety and high quality of products, and also allow you to increase shelf life, reduce processing time and reduce production costs. This review includes articles published in English and Russian between 2010 and 2023. The search for scientifi c literature was carried out using keywords in the bibliographic databases Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed and Google Scholar. When selecting publications, priority was given to sources with a high level of citations. We used methods of searching and screening scientifi c literature, data extraction and analysis, systematization and synthesis. Data on the antimicrobial activity of modern processing technologies and their impact on biofi lm are summarized. 7 different modern technologies are presented (HPP, UV, PL, US, PEF, irradiation, CP), their mechanism of action on biofi lms, inactivation of regular microbial activity with damage to the permeability of the cell membrane and effects on intracellular components. The results of the review may be of interest to the food industry for the implementation of these advanced technologies to prevent contamination caused by bacterial biofi lms, maintain food quality and further research. The industrial implementation of modern food sterilization technologies can become an effective alternative to traditional heat treatment.

Korea Electric Power Research Institute(KEPRI) and Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Company(KHNP) finished developing Korean Performance Demonstration(KPD) system for the ultrasonic examination to apply pressurized light-water and pressurized heavy-water reactor power plants piping weld in accordance with ASME code section XI, appendix VIII on January 2004. KEPRI has been accomplishing the performance demonstration for nuclear power plant piping weld ultrasonic examination in Korea from April 2004. This paper describes the implementation status of the performance demonstration for nuclear power plant piping weld ultrasonic examination in Korea.

Abstract The stability of solidified shell thickness plays an important role in continuous casting. In this paper, 220mm × 260mm section continuous casting blank of an electric furnace company is taken as the research object. Under the condition of solidification process, the solidification shell thickness is simulated by the physical model established and ANSYS software. At the same time, according to the calculation formula of solidified shell thickness, combined with the specific data location of the designed and measured solidified shell thickness test, the good match between the experimental calculation and the model prediction is achieved. It provides a reliable basis for following F-EMS optimization and essential data sustain for the transformation and promotion of solidified structure of the blank under light pressure soft reduction.

The purpose of this article is to explore the origins of industrial nuclear fuel fabrication in Spain. Founded in 1972 for centrally managing the nuclear fuel cycle, the Empresa Nacional del Uranio SA (ENUSA) agreed with the American multinationals Westinghouse and General Electric the assignment of licenses and technical assistance for manufacturing fuel assemblies for light water reactors (in its two variants, PWR and BWR). This is the only phase of the uranium cycle which ENUSA keeps today (Juzbado plant, Salamanca). In spite of the current energy crisis and the uncertainty of the nuclear option, the company has celebrated its 50th anniversary in a moment of success, as a result of its important export and technological activity in the nuclear, logistic and environmental fields.

Since the onset of the 21st century, amidst rising industry competition, dominant enterprises across various sectors have entered the market with substantial capital, in search of new market opportunities. They have implemented diversified growth strategies, engaging in cross-industry mergers and acquisitions. Nevertheless, mergers and acquisitions can be fraught with risks as well as rewards. On this basis, this study examines the case of Gree Electric Appliances' acquisition of Zhuhai Yinlong New Energy, detailing the acquisition process, and providing financial analysis of both entities. Based on the evaluations, it identifies and examines potential risks and their underlying causes during the acquisition. Reflecting the present circumstances, the paper draws conclusions and offers recommendations according to the analysis, presenting a pragmatic research approach for cross-industry mergers and acquisitions and assisting investors in predicting the future trajectory of the acquired company more accurately. These results shed light on guiding further exploration of corporation M&A.

There is an increasing trend among customers of an electrical distribution utility to adopt grid-tied solar photovoltaic systems. This shift offers multiple benefits to consumers, including lower monthly electricity bills and a contribution to the development of green energy. For the electrical distribution utility, various impacts may arise due to varying levels of solar energy penetration. This study investigates the effects of integrating varying levels of solar photovoltaic penetration into the commercial consumer network of Cagayan de Oro Electric Power and Light Company (CEPALCO) in the Philippines. Utilizing PowerWorld simulator, the research evaluates 11 different scenarios with solar penetration levels adjusted according to the percentage of load demand. Key findings include alterations in solar megavolt ampere of reactive power output, bus voltage levels, transformer power loading, and transmission line ampacity, with frequency levels remaining stable across scenarios. The optimal solar penetration level was identified at 70%, balancing the benefits of solar energy integration with the need to maintain grid stability and operational limits. This optimal level ensures the effective utilization of renewable energy sources without compromising the performance of CEPALCO’s electrical infrastructure. The research concludes with recommendations for maintaining grid stability and operational limits at the optimal solar penetration limits.

New products currently under development by Anacon Systems will extend the range of offerings to cover power ranges up to 2 hp. The company also plans to offer controllers for three-phase motors. A new energy-efficient integrated ac drive/motor, combining plug-and-play installation and compact design, has been introduced by ABB Drives & Power Products of New Berlin, Wisconsin. The new drive has power cables at the bottom rather than on the side. The drive's compact size allows it to fit into many retrofit spaces and frees up panel space that would be occupied by a larger drive, according to ABB.

Abstract Due to current environmental European regulations in terms of pollutant emissions, electric cargo cycles are receiving growing interest compared to heavy-duty vehicles as a cheaper and healthier alternative for last-mile delivery of goods in urban and suburban areas. Within the PNRR Next Generation EU program, the Sustainable Mobility Center aims to design innovative e-cargo bikes considering technical features along with rider behaviour and infrastructure characteristics. The market offers plenty of solutions, which may differ in technical and design features. Nowadays a standardized terminology, widely shared among researchers for those light mobility vehicles does not exist. Several authors employ different terms or introduce classifications based upon the vehicle type of use or even on the vehicle layout (e.g., payload position or number of wheels). Concurrently, EU regulatory framework is undergoing rapid changes and appears unclear. Certain categories of light mobility vehicles might be ruled out from the type-approval system established by the regulation EU 168/2013. For those vehicles, harmonised standards are under drafting or approval. This situation requires a considerable effort among manufacturers in the identification of the proper product directives or regulations and the associated mandatory requirements and testing procedures for the introduction of a new vehicle model in the market. Within this context, an overview of the EU regulatory framework for these light mobility vehicles is presented. A literature evaluation with a structured and coded methodology of scientific databases, company websites and commercial reports is performed, evaluating commercial and prototype solutions of e-cargo bikes from a technical and legislative perspective. Furthermore, a case study is addressed, deepening the national legislation which rules the use of e-cargo bikes in Italy. The information provided in this work may be useful among manufacturers as a starting point for the design process of these types of vehicles. Moreover, this paper lays the foundations for a widely recognized taxonomy of e-cargo bikes based upon distinctive features.

This paper presents experimental approaches for evaluating concert lighting from the viewpoints of audience members and performers in Cambridge King's College Chapel. We develop image zoning and abstraction techniques to quantify and interpret photometric data acquired under four different electric lighting conditions. Assessed by 78 participants, these lighting scenarios are compared across six different viewing positions using a set of structured questionnaires. Ordered logistic regression modelling shows that the ratios and functions describing uniformity, brightness and light patterns are common explanatory variables for predicting perceived visual clarity, visual uniformity, brightness and spatial intimacy. Uniformity-related attributes are observed to be among the strongest variables for all these perceived qualities, except for visual clarity, which is better explained by acuity-related measures. These experimental results confirm the applicability of our approaches, highlighting the importance of combining multiple methods and integrating complex architectural situations into the process of understanding luminous appearance.

Energy Efficiency is a business that is carried out with the aim of reducing the amount of energy needed, in using an equipment or even an energy-related system. In its development in the field of lighting, LED (Light Emitting Diode) lamps are now starting to be used as lighting lamps for homes, industries and factories. In Indonesia, the use of LED lamps in lighting is still rarely used, because the price of LED lamps is quite expensive when compared to ordinary lamps. With the saving of electric power through the use of LED lights, the problem of operational costs will be easy to overcome. Indeed, the price of this LED lamp is a little expensive, but with the research on the comparison of the use of this LED lamp with HPL-N type lamps, the industry will consider using this LED lamp with a generally accepted application method to reduce energy expenditure. The previous conditions for Jalan Dolok Merawan used HPLN 250 Watt lamps with a handlebar angle of 24,920 ornaments, the resulting light intensity was 2189 Candela, the intensity of the resulting lighting was 97.94 Lux and has now been changed to make it more optimal to use 120 Watt LED type lights, the height of the pole used is 4 meterss with an ornament handlebar angle of 24.920, light intensity of 1242 Candella, lighting intensity of 55.33 lux. The results of this illumination intensity are in accordance with the standard determined by BSN SNI regarding Collector road class 3-7 Lux. The results achieved after the process of modifying HPL-N lamps to LEDs are that they can reduce the use of electrical energy in the lighting system and achieve efficiency for electric power consumption so that they can provide added value to the company in reducing the company's operational costs.

By reviewing the application status of traditional clock synchronization methods and architectures under different protocols in a comparative way in China, this paper analyzes the application of IEEE1588 protocol in power dispatching automation and puts forward new clock synchronizing schemes in electricity dispatching communication network based on IEEE1588 protocol (or Std. IEC61588) and proposes some futuristic research fields referring to IEEE1588 protocol in power dispatching automation. New schemes have better clock synchronizing precision, featuring in low implementation cost compared with other clock synchronization schemes. At the same time, it will effectively lower system resource requirements, relieve current excessive reliance on GPS clock source, mitigate data fetching and exchange congestion. It will shed light on building domestic power dispatching networks under the PTP protocol as well as constructing smarter power grid both at home and abroad in the future. This work is supported by North China Electric Power University, Sifang & Huaneng Power System Control Co., Ltd and Zhuhai Power Electricity Supply Company in SMART SYNCHRONOUS DEVICE RESEARCH BASED ON IEC61850 AND IEEE 1588 project, which involves a wholesale research in clock synchronization of power dispatching communication networks and developed China’s first set of smart clock synchronization devices, including the clock synchronization handler CSE6000 (briefly introduced in part v) and corresponding kilomega Ethernet switch. Battery energy storage systems (BESSs) are being deployed on electrical grids in significant numbers to provide fast-response services. These systems are normally procured by the end user, such as a utility grid owner or independent power producer. This paper introduces a novel research project in which a research institution has purchased a 1 MW BESS and turned ownership over to a utility company under an agreement that allowed the institution to perform experimentation and data collection on the grid for a multi-year period. This arrangement, along with protocols governing experimentation, has created a unique research opportunity to actively and systematically test the impact of a BESS on a live island grid. The 2012 installation and commissioning of the BESS was facilitated by a partnership between the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI) and the utility owner, the Hawaiian Electric and Light Company (HELCO). After the test period ended, HELCO continued to allow data collection (including health testing). In 2018, after 8500 equivalent cycles, the BESS continues to operate within specifications. HNEI continues to provide HELCO with expertise to aid with diagnostics as needed. Details about the BESS design, installation, experimental protocols, initial results, and lessons learned are presented in this paper.

Several mobility vehicle rental companies have emerged owing to the increased preference for shared mobility as a short-distance transit option. These shared-mobility vehicles must be strategically placed at different locations to enable easy access to customers. However, without prior knowledge of the occurrence of rental demand, it becomes challenging for companies to respond quickly. In this study, we analyzed the factors affecting rental demand for shared electric mobility vehicles by utilizing actual data from the company EV PASS and predicted rental demand to ensure that the vehicles were distributed effectively, allowing customers to receive timely service. We compared the performance of machine learning models such as the Extra Trees regressor, CatBoost regressor, and LightGBM (Light Gradient Boosting Machine) models in predicting the demand for shared mobility vehicles. Additionally, we explored the use of an ensemble technique called voting regressor to reduce errors with an R2 score of 0.7629, it outperformed all the individual models. The analysis revealed that factors including humidity, precipitation, and solar radiation have a significant influence on rental demand. Based on the findings of this study, companies can effectively manage equipment and personnel, providing better shared electric mobility rental services, leading to increased customer satisfaction.

Abstract Background BTZ is approved for the treatment of MM via either SC or IV administration. The observed non-inferior efficacy (overall response rate after 4 cycles) and tolerability with SC administration of BTZ as reported in relapsed/refractory MM (Moreau et al Lancet Oncol 2011) has the potential to impact treatment outcomes in the clinical setting. However, there is a paucity of comparative effectiveness data on SC vs IV BTZ as initial therapy in MM in clinical practice. The main objective of this study was therefore to evaluate the treatment outcomes in NDMM pts who received SC vs IV BTZ in the US community oncology setting. Methods NDMM pts aged ≥18 yrs who received BTZ-based treatment within the McKesson Specialty Health/US Oncology Network between Jan 1 and Dec 31, 2012, and had ≥2 MM-related visits and ≥6 mos' follow-up through Jul 2014, were evaluated. Data were collected via the iKnowMed electronic health records database and supplemented with medical chart reviews. Cohorts stratified by route of administration were matched 2:1 as the Moreau study, and by age, gender, practice region, and performance status. Chi-square analysis (categorical variables), t-tests/non-parametric Mann-Whitney tests (continuous variables), and Kaplan-Meier methodology were employed. Univariate and multivariate Cox models adjusted for clinically relevant covariates were used for associations between cumulative BTZ dose and treatment outcomes. Results 372 NDMM pts who received BTZ were included; 248 received SC and 124 IV BTZ. Similar baseline demographics and clinical characteristics were observed in the SC and IV groups (Table 1). Median BTZ treatment duration was 4.4 and 4.1 mos in the SC and IV groups, respectively (p = 0.21). Among pts receiving SC and IV BTZ, 10% and 13% had dose reductions in the first 16 wks (p = 0.41) and the median time to dose reduction was 49 d in both groups. While observed median relative dose intensities were similar between the SC and IV groups (1.0 [range 0.67-1.2] vs 1.0 [0.5-1.3]; p = 0.89), a higher median cumulative BTZ dose of 25.8 mg/m2 (1.3-208.6) was observed in SC pts, vs 22.9 mg/m2 (1.3-105.9) in IV pts (p = 0.08). When dichotomized by median cumulative BTZ dose (24.7 mg/m2), a numerically greater proportion of SC pts vs IV pts received the higher dose (52% vs 48%, p = 0.38). Higher cumulative dose was associated with longer PFS and better response rate at cycle 4 (12 wks) in multivariate analyses (Table 2). Treatment outcomes were comparable between SC and IV BTZ; 2-yr overall survival (OS) was 81% vs 78% (Fig 1); 2-yr progression-free survival (PFS) was 75% vs 70% (Fig 2). In 204 response-evaluable pts (of 372 in the overall population with a median follow up of 19.1 mos [range 0.1-30.1] in SC pts and 20.8 mos [0.3-30.8] in IV pts), complete response/very good partial response rate was 16% vs 22%. Documented rates of adverse events in the SC vs IV BTZ groups were 34% vs 28% neuropathy (p = 0.27), 13% vs 10% thrombocytopenia (p = 0.57), 10% vs 5% neutropenia (p = 0.09), and 25% vs 24% anemia (p = 0.87). Conclusions The observed non-inferior treatment outcomes between SC and IV BTZ in NDMM pts are consistent with findings from the phase 3 relapsed/refractory MM trial. In addition, SC vs IV BTZ was associated with a trend towards higher cumulative dose, which was associated with improved response rate and PFS. These findings support extended therapy for higher cumulative dosage and better treatment outcomes as demonstrated in a prior phase 3 clinical trial (Benboubker et al NEJM 2014). Table 1. This article provides an overview of key issues related to non-financial reporting on the operating activities expenses of electric power companies in Ukraine. Operating activities expenses are an important factor in ensuring financial stability and resilience of Ukrainian electricity companies. However, non-financial statements on these expenses can be challenging due to different types of expenses, calculation and presentation methods, and different perspectives of stakeholders. The article explores the role of stakeholders, particularly owners and investors, in ensuring the quality and transparency of non-financial reporting on operational expenses of Ukrainian electricity companies. The article emphasizes that financial reporting provides an instant snapshot of the financial performance and position of the company, including revenues, profits, assets, and liabilities, while non-financial reporting provides a more complete picture of the company's performance and impact, including on the environment, social and governance practices, operations, and management. The research in this article helps to understand the operational expenses reflected in the non-financial reporting of Ukrainian electricity companies and how these expenses impact environmental, social, and governance practices of the companies. With this information, energy companies and other stakeholders can improve their efficiency and transparency of reporting. The results of the research indicate that the presence of quality non-financial reporting in Ukrainian electricity companies is crucial for their stability and resilience, particularly in light of increasing interest in sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies. Furthermore, it can be concluded that more transparent and accurate non-financial reporting reduces the risks of financial instability and promotes attracting new investors. Therefore, this article can be useful for electricity companies and other stakeholders in understanding the importance of non-financial reporting on operational expenses and its impact on the sustainability and resilience of the companies.

Electricity Bill arrears in PT. Muba Electric Power is still a very big problem, namely the total bill reachesRp. 30,911,833,490 for 10 Districts consisting of 20,677 subscribers. Due to the mismatch of the usage records recorded by the meter registering officer every month, the amount of the bill appeared and made customers lazy to pay.So, to overcome these problems, namely by creating a database that will be connected to the scope of the parts in the CV. Eternal Light centrally. So that every job gets the desired results with structured performance. The database development method used for this study uses the methodLife Cycle Database(DBLC). Setiap perusahaan tentunya tidak lepas dari yang namanya teknologi, yaitu teknologi yang diharapkan dapat membantu dalam mengerjakan setiap pekerjaan, contohnya dalam satu basis data terpusat dimana data tersebut bisa diakses secara bersamaan. CV. Cahaya Abadi merupakan salah satu perusahaan atau konstruksi yang bergerak di bidang listrik untuk melakukan masalah penagihan tunggakan listrik pelanggan di desa-desa yang ada di Kecamatan Sekayu. Tunggakan Tagihan Listrik yang ada di PT. Muba Electric Power masih menjadi masalah yang sangat besar, yaitu total tagihan mencapai Rp. 30.911.833.490 untuk 10 Kecamatan yang terdiri dari 20.677 pelanggan. Disebabkan oleh ketidaksesuaian catatan pemakaian yang dicatat oleh petugas pencatat angka meter setiap bulannya sehingga muncul besarnya tagihan dan mengakibatkan pelanggan malas membayar. Jadi, untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, yaitu dengan membuat basis data yang nantinya terhubung dengan ruang lingkup bagian-bagian dalam CV. Cahaya Abadi secara terpusat. Sehingga setiap pekerjaan mendapatkan hasil yang diinginkan dengan kinerja yang terstruktur. Adapun metode pengembangan database yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini menggunakan metode Database Life Cycle (DBLC).

On-line testing of high power electromagnetic devices is one of the most important problems of modern industrial metrology. In the paper, the results of experimental investigations of the electric field optical fiber sensor based on the electroluminescent phenomena are presented. The electro¬luminescent effect is observed in some composite semicon¬ductors, among others in zinc sulfide ZnS crystals. In our investigations, the used ZnS crystal was doped with copper Cu atoms as activators. The concentration of activator in the ZnS crystal was about 5.10-4 [g/g]. The first title in this issue's batch of classical reception publications sees Lucy Pollard take us on an engaging and colourful tour of early modern travellers' experiences in Greece and the Levant. This area of scholarship is well trodden, and many readers will be familiar with David Constantine's Early Greek Travellers and the Hellenic Ideal (1984); but Pollard brings new material to bear by her extensive use of the unpublished diaries of John Covel, the Cambridge scholar and minister who served as chaplain to the Levant Company in Constantinople in the 1670s. These are supplemented with accounts of other seventeenth-century travellers such as George Wheler and Paul Rycaut. Successive chapters cover the logistics of travel, scholarly and archaeological approaches, and perceptions of Greeks and Turks. Pollard tends to let her sources speak for themselves; her arguments about the emergence of a ‘proto-archaeological’ approach to antiquities in the last third of the century, about the importance of perceived religious affinities between Anglican travellers and Orthodox Greeks, and about admiration of the Ottomans as a model for empire are interesting, but made with a light touch. Above all, this provides us with a richly detailed survey of the experiences, challenges, and preoccupations of early modern Englishmen travelling east.

Liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) spatial light modulator (SLM) is the most widely used optical engine for digital holography. This paper aims to provide an overview of the applications of phase-only LCOS in two-dimensional (2D) holography. It begins with a brief introduction to the holography theory along with its development trajectory, followed by the fundamental operating principle of phase-only LCOS SLMs. Hardware performance of LCOS SLMs (in terms of frame rate, phase linearity and flicker) and related experimental results are presented. Анотація:
After the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant following the Great East Japan Earthquake, the future promotion of nuclear power generation has been discussed from various points of view. Ensuring national security requires down-toearth policies on energy as well as on defense and food supplies, together with diplomatic efforts and technologies that realize these policies. In the author’s opinion, in view of Japan’s poor fossil fuel resources and a worldwide increase in energy demand, particularly among emerging countries, nuclear power generation should be maintained with all possible measures taken to ensure safety until alternative power generation methods are developed that provide excellent safety, stability, and economy. Therefore, in light of the lessons learned from the experience of the Fukushima accident, the problems identified should be carefully examined and improvements should be made to revitalize nuclear power generation in Japan. With this awareness in mind, this article discusses the concept of the social responsibility of engineers and managers, i.e., the meaning of a sense of responsibility and compliance with laws and norms for business personnel, through personnel at Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., (Tohoku Electric) at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake and achievements by the late Yanosuke Hirai, a former vice president of the company, who greatly influenced decisions on the premise height of the Onagawa Nuclear Power Plant. Nowadays, the statements of engineers, policymakers, and managers are viewed less reliable than before. In such circumstances, reviewing the words and deeds of Mr. Susumu Yoda, a former vice president of Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc., (Tepco) who was involved in promoting nuclear power generation, we discuss the concept of the social responsibility of those involved in megatechnology. Finally, the author highlights a current question involving a basic problem regarding the concept of decision making in relation to problems including scientific uncertainty, and discuss the direction in which to proceed.
