Rusu, Anca. "Delving into AI discourse within EU institutional communications : empowering informed decision-making for tomorrow’s tech by fostering responsible communication for emerging technologies." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université Paris sciences et lettres, 2023. https://basepub.dauphine.fr/discover?query=%222023UPSLD029%22.
The proliferation of emerging technologies, which are defined as new technologies or new use of old technologies (for example, artificial intelligence (AI)), presents both opportunities and challenges for society when used. These technologies promise to revolutionize various sectors, providing new efficiencies, capabilities, and insights, which makes them interesting to develop and use. However, their use also raises significant ethical, environmental, and social concerns. Organizations communicate through various modes, one of which is written discourse. Such discourse encompasses not only the structure of the message but also its content. In other words, the vocabulary (the structure) is used to express a specific point of view (the content). Within technology usage, there is a clear connection between communication and informed decision-making, as the information about the technology (its form and substance) is spread through communication, which in turn aids in making well-informed decisions. This thesis adopts a risk governance approach, which involves taking a preventive perspective to minimize (or avoid) future potential risks. This viewpoint acknowledges the importance of people making informed decisions about accepting or acting in light of potential future risks. It is to be noted that people's decisions are influenced by what they know about a technology and their perceptions (what they do not know but believe). Hence, our research aims to explore the theoretical perspectives on organizations' communication responsibilities and the actual practices employed by these entities. This choice stems from the apparent gap in the literature concerning responsible communication and the necessity to examine the topic, emphasizing practical considerations for further defining modes of organizational communication to analyze and take proactive action when communicating about emerging technologies such as AI. When an organization communicates about an emerging technology, elements focusing on the responsibility of sharing information can be found in the literature, but none on the responsibility (seen as an ethical behavior) of one organization regarding the impact of what is communicated on the decision-making process. Some responsibility is linked to corporate social responsibility (CSR), but the focus remains on the information. We propose a concept that addresses the intersection between three considered fields: emerging technologies, organizational communication and risk governance, which is the one of Responsible Organizational Communication on Emerging Technologies (ROCET) to address the responsibility of what is communicated as an ethical behavior. We aim to delve into the concept by bridging the divide between theory and practice, examining both simultaneously to garner a comprehensive understanding. This approach will help construct an understanding that meets halfway, building on knowledge accumulated from both areas. Therefore, two analyses will be conducted in parallel: a critical literature review around the “responsible communication” concept and a discourse analysis of standalone reports published by governmental bodies regarding the use of a specific emerging technology, namely artificial intelligence (AI). Using a single case analysis approach, the analysis aims to problematize one's communication regarding a public discourse while challenging such constitutions by exploring models of responsible communication. There is a gap in the literature in referring to this term as this research does. The literature focuses either on the communication conducted by organizations as part of their corporate responsibility strategy or from a communication theory perspective, concentrating on how to convey a message effectively. Alternatively, it looks at the matter from the emerging technologies perspective, where the focus is on information communication referring to the technology
Grenoble 2, 2005. http://www.theses.fr/2005GRE21029.
Socially responsible consumption consists in taking social and environmental criteria into account when it comes to consumption choices. Authors have globally neglected this rather vague notion and have focused on more restricted and concrete research topics like green consumption, boycott and cause-related product buying. In this doctoral dissertation, we wish to rehabilitate the global notion of socially responsible consumption. First, we explored consumers' social and environmental preoccupations. The scale built showed 5 dimensions: the refusal to buy from irresponsible firms, cause-related product buying, support of small storekeepers, French product purchasing and the reduction of volume consumption. Second, we identified socially responsible consumption individual determinants: socially responsible consumers are more likely to be females, to be more than 40 years old and to have children. Furthermore, they are more generous and less materialistic and liberal than the average population. Finally, the last research question concerned socially responsible consumption modelling. The proposed model describes the process of consumer reasoning in front of an ethical dilemma and is based on Jones' model (1991). It supposes three consumer behaviour determinants: the level of ethical intensity, the cost of socially responsible choices and consumer sensibility to the topic. Analyses lead to model validation
Toulouse 1, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009TOU10027.
This research focuses on the company's corporate communication and the perception of corporate social responsability. It is assumed that the receiver's ethical ideology has a moderating effect on the impact that perceived socially responsible values have on one dimension of the reputation. This idea is built into a model, drawing from the work of Schwartz and Boehnke (2004) for values, of Forsyth (1980) for ethical ideology, of Davies, Chun, Vinhas da Silva and Roper (2004) for reputation, and from the Hunt-Vitell theory (Hunt and Vitell, 1986). Perception of socially responsible actions by the company is also included in the model. Validation of the model is carried out using structural equations. The moderating effect of ethical ideology is shown in the results and discussed

This thesis aims to explore existing teaching methods for communication strategies in foreign language teaching in schools. The literature review shows that teaching methods are based on the concepts of awareness, exemplification and application / training. There are several factors that influence the development of communicative competence (including strategic competence): authentic and real task types, target language as the primary means of communication and metacognition.

The thesis approaches the emerging phenomenon of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) from the dual disciplinary perspective of Ethics and Communication, starting from the hypothesis that the ethical communication of science is a morally essential requirement for the development of an RRI management model in universities. Taking this starting point and through quantitative and qualitative methodologies that include a large documentary study, surveys, discussion groups and an expert panel, the thesis proposes an ethical and political framework for RRI; a new definition of Responsible Research and Innovation and the process leading to them; a map of stakeholders and a communication model to favour RRI in the university.

This thesis is the result of a five-year research project in the field of communication sciences, focused on the communicational understanding of the concept of "environmental responsible behaviour"(REB). The concept REB was launched in the early days of the environmental movement and has become an important factor in the environmental discourse, especially within the domain of environmental education. However, many authors argue that no real environmental behavioural changes have occurred or that the extend of these changes has been too limited. Therefore, our main concern was to understand if and why the REB is difficult to promote and to adopt. This main question was studied from a communicational perspective in order to understand the individual and the social factors that lead to adoption or rejection. In order to focus our research, we postulated that the REB could usefully be understood as an innovation, and therefore innovation theory was combined with communication theory in order to construct a framework for analysis and understanding. The case of water in Mexico allowed us to explain how REB is defined, translated and implemented. Based on a series of field interviews and accompanied observation, we followed the REB through the communicational dimension, analysing three cases that are typical for countries like Mexico: agricultural water use, domestic water use and water related to health concerns. We observed perceptions and interests as key elements in the communication interactions concerning the adoption of the conceptual innovation. We observed negotiation and dispersion as key processes that allow the innovation to evolve. The major outcome of the thesis is that, using the communicational approach, the difficulties to change environmental behaviour (the environmental failure) can be explained by both the lack of stability of the innovation as well as its discursive success
Binti, Abdullah Nik Nailah. "Activity States : un cadre théorique pour l'analyse de collaboration humaine concrète sur le Web." Phd thesis, Montpellier 2, 2006. http://www.theses.fr/2006MON20037.
The work was centered on observing actual computer scientists communications on the web via social tools (instant messaging and video conferencing) in the context of a joint project. The objective has been to understand how learning and communication mutually influence one another; allowing people to infer each other’s communicative behavior, at the same time understanding how intentions arise when people are speaking and doing activities First, actual conversations have been recorded and observed (about 50,000 words exchanges). Then those conversations have been manually translated into formalized agent messages. The analysis of those formalized messages, and the comprehension of the communicative scenarios has required the extensive application of existing theories; (i) hierarchy of learning and communication (i. E. Logical theories of learning and communications) (Bateson, 1972 & 1979); (ii) situated cognition (Clancey, 1997); and (iii) activity theory (Leont'ev 1977 & 1978). However, during this analytical process, an innovative theoretical framework has emerged that has been called Activity States. It provides guidelines on how to convert the actual conversations into agent communication language (having equivalent semantics). The Activity State framework also attempts to explain and understand how the activity of reading (as an example), and comprehending the text that one reads, is in relationship to that person’s activity on the web. All of this influences how people formulate his/her intentions. Finally, the analysis of the formalized messages enabled preliminary findings: 1. People have internal rules (e. G. , combinatorial rule system); and 2. People learn, merge and adapt communication protocols in their situated context (in some ways validating some existing theories suggesting this). As a conclusion, our Activity States framework is claimed to be a promising approach for a better understanding of human collaborative behavior at a distance, over the Web

Gambling confronts individuals to at least two paradoxes. The first one refers to control: on the one hand, gamblers think they can control the game in order to increase their chances to win (i.e. the illusion of control) and, on the other hand, they can lose control over their impulses. To gamble safely, gamblers should play in a controlled way instead of trying to control the game. The second paradox is that the gambling operators have financial interests in promoting gambling, but try at the same time to prevent the risks of gambling. In particular, they have to help gamblers to keep control of their impulses. To that end, gambling operators use prevention messages promoting Responsible Gambling (e.g., “So that gambling remains a game”). The central thesis of this dissertation is that these preventive messages often are ambiguous and tend to convey promotional contents rather than preventive ones. The aim of this dissertation was thus to examine the comprehension of messages promoting Responsible Gambling. We studied the ambiguity of their semantic content and the influence of extrinsic factors of the message (i.e. the characteristics of the source of the message and of the receiver) on the understanding of the message. We conducted four experiments online with 1438 participants. Results of these studies show that prevention messages promoting Responsible Gambling have a paradoxical effect on individuals: they are ambiguous (Experiment 1) and individuals understand them as being both prevention and promotional messages (Experiment 2). In a real game situation, messages promoting Responsible Gambling exacerbate risk-taking behavior when compared to non-ambiguous prevention messages (Experiment 3). Moreover, we showed that people better understand prevention messages when they see them as stemming from the government instead of a gambling operator and when the source is perceived as highly credible. However, gamblers’ attitudes toward gambling, familiarity with gambling or their level of risk of pathological gambling does not influence the comprehension of the message in our sample (Experiment 4). This dissertation shows that messages which are currently used by gambling operators are not appropriate to prevent excessive gambling. Our work thus contributes to the improvement of preventive communication strategies of gambling operators and governments

Providing information for patients, whether for a research project or for healthcare, is a necessary pre-condition for appropriate informed consent. After having been fully informed, the patient can decide whether or not to participate in the suggested procedure. In the framework of the private practice of dentistry, the treatment contract reflects the specificity inherent in the free-for-service system; the same thing is also true for esthetic surgery. To allow a place for consent is to recognize the right of patients to exercise autonomy. Consent, viewed this way, takes its place as a counter-weight to medical paternalism, which has long shackled patients in the inferior position of dominated/dominator relationship, and signals the end of medical imperialism. Consent based on patients' autonomy creates a new equilibrium in the medical team/patient relationship. Law n° 2002-303 of March 4th, 2002, which deals with patients' rights and the quality of the health system, is a text crucial to the patient/healthcare provider relationship. It is in this sense that the two parties in this work share the duties on information (a pre-condition to free and informed consent) and, in addition, share the duties of free and informed consent itself, which is the essential underpinning of a valid healthcare contract

While the literature suggests that a socially responsible organization achieves better financial performance (Margolis and Walsh, 2003), marketing research has not reached consensus on this virtuous relationship from a consumer perspective (Chernev and Blair, 2015). Due to contingency factors, a socially responsible organization would not necessarily be perceived by consumers as a guarantee to better offerings. This research integrates the organization’s perceived mode of governance as a new contingency factor, distinguishing between stock firms and cooperatives. A first study highlights the moderating role of governance on the implicit attitudes of consumers in terms of corporate social responsibility –CSR– and performance of the offering: cooperatives (versus stock firms) are less (versus more) associated with not being socially responsible and less (versus more) associated with being efficient. Studies 2 (qualitative approach) and 3 (experimental design) evaluate the impact of governance on the effectiveness of CSR-related or performance-related marketing communication arguments. The buying intention of consumers is stronger when a CSR-related marketing communication argument is used by a cooperative as opposed to a stock firm

The subject of this thesis is the management of authority records for persons. The research was conducted in an archival context in transition, which was marked by the evolution of international standards of archival description and a shift towards the application of knowledge graphs. The aim of this thesis is to explore how the archival sector can benefit from the developments concerning Linked Data in order to ensure the sustainable management of authority records. Attention is not only devoted to the creation of the records and how they are made available but also to their maintenance and their interlinking with other resources. The first part of this thesis addresses the state of the art of the developments concerning the international standards of archival description as well as those regarding the Wikibase ecosystem. The second part presents an analysis of the possibilities and limits associated with an approach in which the free software Wikibase is used. The analysis is based on an empirical study carried out with data of the Study and Documentation Centre War and Contemporary Society (CegeSoma). It explores the options that are available to institutions that have limited resources and that have not yet implemented Linked Data. Datasets that contain information of people linked to the Second World War were used to examine the different stages involved in the publication of data as Linked Open Data. The experiment carried out in the second part of the thesis shows how a knowledge base driven by software such as Wikibase streamlines the creation of multilingual structured authority data. Examples illustrate how these entities can then be reused and enriched by using external data in interfaces aimed at the general public. This thesis highlights the possibilities of Wikibase, particularly in the context of data maintenance, without ignoring the limitations associated with its use. Due to its empirical nature and the formulated recommendations, this thesis contributes to the efforts and reflections carried out within the framework of the transition of archival metadata.

In a context of change in the water and electricity pricing system in Morocco, can households in Casablanca change their behavior to reduce their consumption ? To answer this question, we identified the different causes of the behavioral lock of individuals and the opportunities for change cited in literature. Then, we have analyzed the evolution of the water and electricity consumption of Moroccan and Casablancan households before the implementation of the new pricing system and observedthe national stakes of the energy sector in Morocco. From 62 qualitative interviews, we have observed the different types of behavior. By analyzing in detail the collected data, we have revealed the different factors influencing the energy consumption behavior of the households interviewed in particular: their attitude, their ability to act, their environmental preference and the social influence of those around them, the behaviors put in place following the tariff increase and their future arrangements. One special attention was allocated to four groups of households that we identified using different criteriaas an extrinsic motivation to reduce energy consumption Finally, we have made recommendations for energy policy makers to support households towards sustainable and responsible consumption

This research focuses on the analysis of the motivations and practices of Responsible Management of Information Technology (RMIT). Our first goal is to understand how Sustainable Development (SD) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are reflected in Information Systems (IS). The second objective is to understand the motivations of establishing a RMIT. The answer for these objectives is built by combining empirical and theoretical approaches. In so doing, an original analysis frame of ethical and institutional motivations for RMIT is developed and verified. The analysis of the results, at various levels of the research, has to offer (1) a Green IT typology, (2) a RMIT life cycle proposal and (3) a typology of organization strategies (active, pro-active, reactive and retrospective) facing environmental pressures

Every year since the early 2000s, about 3,500 French citizens settled in Quebec under a permanent resident visa. The French citizens are immigrants of choice for Quebec, since their income revenues are in fact higher than the national average income, and they also benefit, since 2008, from a greater recognition of their diplomas obtained in France. In fact, French candidates seem to gather all the conditions to settle and integrate in a sustainable manner in the “Belle Province”. However, the studied phenomenon - namely the return in France of the French immigrants - is not so new. Indeed, in 2013 according to the Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities, France is the leading country of birth for recent immigrants (economical sector) in admissions. Nevertheless, French immigrants are also the most likely to return to France or to continue on their migration route. The communication and intercultural relations during the pre-migratory phase can influence the future immigrants to either settle temporarily or permanently. But how can this intercultural communication influence future immigrants about their desire to migrate, prepare their migration plans, and their integration? What may be the influence of this intercultural communication within the integration process and the development of a sense of belonging towards the host society? The progressive construction of the Promised Land and the migration imaginary also determine either the success or failure of immigration

This thesis aims at studying the role that educational drama can have on the development of oral communication skills when teaching French as a foreign language in the classroom. Research shows that creative drama gives pupils the opportunity to use their language skills, as well as it prepares them for real life situations. Moreover, it gives them the opportunity to experience the emotions and the body movements that come with a living language.

This research aims to improve our understanding of communication within the management control process, through the proposal of a measurement model. The literature in communication underlines the need for choice of a precise context for the study of communication. Research in management control shows the importance of concepts like information, relation and communication. However, there is no explanatory model of the communication in this precise context. Our thesis brings a first modelled representation. It is structured in three steps: - A first exploratory empirical phase was carried out, through a Delphi process with 20 controllers in 20 big French companies. - A second confirmatory empirical phase was led on the basis of 390 questionnaires. - A descriptive/prescriptive third phase which permit to extend the answer brought to our research problem, by proposing a communication approach of management control. This research shows the interest of a communication approach for a better understanding of management control process. It led to the development of a three-dimensional measurement model which analyzes the communication act in the management control process according to the organisational communication, the interpersonal communication and the managerial communication. Based on the built model, this research proposes a management control modes typology based on the communication

This thesis has for objective to understand the joints of information and communication technologies in the communication activity organizations. What interests us, is to analyze how the use of objects put in relation, in tension, the actors in the collective action. The objective being to analyze how the work of cooperation builds itself through the use information and communication technology. It will be a question of seizing rules and mechanisms of the social order in the acts of communication mediatized by computer and of encircling well the way the user negotiates his interactions in the relations of interdependence which supposes the collective work. Our problem is to understand how the employee appropriates information and communication technologies? How he negotiates in his interactions within microcomputing- networks? What are the roles that he appropriates in the dramatization of himself? Our research work joins in the field of the communication of organizations and more exactly in the study of the communication approaches of the communication mediatized by computer within organizations. What interests us in our study is to seize, the joint between information and communication technologies and cooperative Work, that is to understand how the employees adjust their practices information and communication technologies to reconstruct systems of cooperation from tools arrangement

Study of the IEEE 802. 11 standard un ad hoc networks context: from simulation to experimentation. The mobiles composing ad hoc networks do not rely on any fixed infrastructure and organise themselves depending on nodes movements. This research area is quite recent, and most of the work concerns routing. Because of its commercial availability and its ease of use, IEEE 802. 11 standard (Wi-Fi) is generally chosen to develop and test ad hoc routing protocols. But 802. 11 has not been originally designed for multi-hops networks and has limitations in this context that we intend to highlight. Using simulations then real world experimentations, we bring up many problems ranging from medium access equity to transmission range and environment impact. With its detailed study of these phenomena, this PhD has an impact in particular over ad hoc routing protocols and the way they are designed, but also over upper layers protocols, TCP being the first of them

This study deals with the question of entrepreneurship and communication within the framework of the sustainable development- the case of small business in Annaba city “Algeria”. It aims at identifying the opportunity and constraints in terms of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors which impede the entrepreneur’s expected role of leadership within a perspective of sustainable development. In other words, we believe that the importance of the responsible communication is double fold. It can lead the companies to better meet the environmental challenges. It can also promote the emergence of a new entrepreneurial profile of an eco-transformational type. Our assumptions are confirmed through the collected data in the field work on the basis of direct observation, interviews and a questionnaire applied to a sample of 100 entrepreneurs and supported by the Epi. Info.Software test. Trends and suggestions are made to the chamber of commerce and industry in the form of an action plan which confirm that the establishment of an observatory has become necessary

At every step of the project, some power resources enhance Innu participation while others prevent it. These resources are material, informational and relational ones (Lemieux, 2001). Innu participation within La Romaine project is measured on Sherry Arnstein’s Ladder of Citizen Participation (1969). The results show that Innu participation is less important during the consultation activities and more important within the joint societies. Moreover, funding of community projects and jobs creation contribute to Innu empowerment, but in a limited and unfair way for each community.

This exploratory study aims to provide information about the use of social media as part of a communication strategy within an Inuit community-based participatory health research (CBPR). Thirty semi-structured interviews conducted with Nunavimmiut (Inuit from Nunavik), as well as the content of six Facebook groups and two Facebook pages, were the subject of a thematic analysis. The goal was to better understand the use of social media by Nunavimmiut, and the best methods to improve communication within an Inuit CBPR. The results show that social media, especially Facebook, is an effective tool to reach and involve local people in the research process, but needs to be included in a broader strategy including traditional media. Researchers also need to culturally adapt their use of social media by respecting the social and cultural norms of Inuit to communicate successfully and generate more locally valuable research results. Key words: Inuit, Nunavik, social media, community-based participatory research, health, cross-cultural communication, cross-cultural adaptation

The general idea of this thesis is to propose a modeling of adaptable information system to any type of cooperation project meeting actors of separate territories, plural cultures and different structural and cyclical contingencies. The decisiveness will be to set up a real “code of communication” around a cooperation project appropriable by all the actors by integrating their specificities and those of their environments. More widely, this thesis is a permanent research framework with capitalization which has to bring to improve “the art of project” notably in terms of information and knowledge flow valuation and that may translate: “think global and act local”. The last two decades were characterized by the emergence of an environment the complexity of which increases in an exponential way in view of the information flow magma to be used. The impact on companies and more generally on organizations fundamentally changed their management and in particular in the “entire process project”. Beyond the concepts of globalization, internationalization, transition, number of organizations is going to try to create some value in the implementation of “cooperation project”. These projects present very particular typologies where the information and knowledge are as well raw materials as finished products in their realization. In this optics, the notion of “the environment project” becomes more and more strong as far as its complexity see increasing by a contingency of factors and actors who do not only arise from “the environment of nearness” of the project but also the “environment of territorial connection” which so redefines the “geospace stakes” of the project. Through this reading of the environment of the project, which codes of communication common we can share to allow of the implementation of “architecture project” in search for efficiency and which has to bring an effect “fast-breeder generator” to the project that is to produce more wealth than consummate resources. To bring an answer to this problem, it is above all to bring to the foreground an abstract model of “informational proactivity management” around the notion of project which can decline in various elements which allow positioning exactly the project in its environment by taking into account "glocality” of its factors and actors. This research is centered on the informative genesis of the constituents of a “proactive management” through returns of experiments and results of construction of an “informative abstract model project” stemming from my research works begun in 1993

This thesis focuses on avatar-mediated communication in a digital space called World of Warcraft, a "massively multiplayer online role-playing game" (often referred to as "MMORPG"). If we consider digital spaces in the light of the interactions that take place there, it appears that one of their particularities is the disappearance of the interactant's physical body (and its extensions, such as voice or postures) in favour of a digital body: the avatar. This substitution could be problematic since the physical body is an essential source of information for defining the situation that allows for a smooth interaction. However, previous research shows that individuals are still able to form groups or even sustain them. Thus, we were led to ask ourselves: to what extent is communication mediated by avatars sufficient to promote the sustainability of a group of individuals? To answer this question, we have continued Edward Castronova's conceptual lineage of understanding digital spaces as spaces in their own right, distinct from physical space. Translating this research axis in the field of Information and Communication Sciences, this led us to focus on the interactions carried out in a digital space and to consider that the distinction made between spaces could also apply to their inhabitants; from the point of view of interactions, the avatar is therefore an entity distinct from the user. In order to try to answer this question and test this theoretical framework, we set up a methodological triangulation. The main summit of this one was an ethnography, for more than two years, within two guilds (institutionalized groups of avatars) of World of Warcraft. This participant observation was complemented by formal interviews (second summit) and audiovisual recordings of the most intense periods of interaction (third summit). This methodological apparatus enabled us to grasp that avatars were able to produce groups and perpetuate them, not only by producing strong feelings, spatio-temporarily anchored such as nostalgia, but also by giving a ritual dimension to events essential to the daily life of these guilds. When viewed from the point of view of interactions, digital space then appears to be marked by a form of independence and autonomy that nevertheless faces certain essential limitations that has led us to consider that interactions carried out in a digital space can be more a matter of a communication framework than a social framework

Jacquet, d’aucy, Béghin-Say or Labeyrie... What do these brands have in common? These brands are part of the everyday life of French consumers, though not many actually know they are owned by agricultural cooperatives. If these brands communicated their cooperative status on the market, would this be considered by consumers to be an added value? This doctoral dissertation focuses on the role played by consumers’ social representation in relation to the producer’s governance mode, as part of the product evaluation. This work aims to answer this central research question according to three sub-questions. The first one focuses on the content and structure of the social representation of French consumers regarding cooperatives. The second question analyzes the influence of this social representation on the categorization and evaluation of cooperatives’ offerings, taking into account the mediating role of the level of congruence between the offer and this social representation. The third question addresses the effect of cooperative labelling and arguments on the attitudes and behavioral intentions of consumers. In particular, this sub-question evaluates the levels of congruence and centrality of the arguments with the considered social representation. Therefore, the social representation of cooperatives and its influence are studied and discussed in seven studies, though a multi-method approach. From a theoretical point of view, this research highlights that the social representation of cooperatives echoes consumers’ CSR concerns; this explains the beneficial effect of a label or a mention on this governance status. From a methodological point of view, this research uses original methods (hybrid and implicit methods) in addition to those that are traditionally used in marketing. From a managerial point of view, this work provides managers and institutional entities with answers on the potential of a cooperative mention and helps them choose arguments that will lead to effective marketing communications

Foreign language teaching in public schools in Brazil needs deep changes for the learning-teaching process to be more effective. Usually, students leave school after studying the foreign language for four years without sufficient knowledge to communicate in the language. This indicates that something needs revising and updating. Communication Pedagogy can offer an important contribution for education today. The need for the outside world to enter the classroom, including the new technologies, is urgent. Through these technologies, textual patterns change, becoming smaller, and resorting to plenty of images. These new texts are not present in the vast majority of Brazilian public schools, which, in the case of foreign languages, prefer to use long texts, most of the time without images. Even when images are present they are used as illustrations only, not actively worked on. As a result of Communication Pedagogy, with an emphasis on Multimodality, we resort to a visual grammar perspective to explain the new textual patterns that circulate in our society. It is from this perspective that we designed a project asking groups of students from public schools in Pelotas, Southern Brazil, to produce multimodal texts. The students created booklets after reading Little Prince and watching the movie based on the book. These booklets were then analyzed in the light visual grammar, as proposed by Kress and van Leeuwen. Our initial hypothesis that students knew how to use multimodal structures in their productions, even if intuitively, was confirmed. Besides that, students also showed a high level of autonomy and motivation, consistent with their involvement in the tasks that were proposed

We propose, in our research, a framework showing the dynamic of intercultural attitudes when people issued from french and north african cultures live in the same area in france : in suburban areas, the most important element is the nearness. During his socialisation, one developps a specific idea of the other issued from a different culture. This idea is confronted with the perspective of the other person in is day to day life in the same area. Consequently, the sens of identity of this two persons is "threaten" because they become too close to one antother. Defence mechanism such as introjection and projection appear again and the persons explote facts taken from the reality to protect them selves and strengthen their culture prejudice. Thus, the psychological balance is posible. Similarly the prejudice can change because those persons communicate with one another as neighbour. We conduct this investigation to determine what are the required conditions to get rid of the prejudice. There-fore the is a lot of contradictions inside the persons who developps an ambiguous personality

The Patient’s Medical Record (DMP) belongs to the medical electronic data. The thesis consists in observing the communication and information policy developed by the public and private actors of health in the implementation mechanism of the DMP, which is now shared, and of its challenges. The scope is restricted to urban medicine, general practitioners or specialists, the uses and behavior of the whole group of the people concerned, including the patient, in relation to the instrument set up within the context of health regulation and rationalization. As a first step, in order to lay the foundations of our reflexion, we delineate the relevant system (a complex one), and the key concepts. The actors and their relationships are observed as part of their specific collaboration in the DMP. As a second step, the public policy is observed and studied through the double focus of communication and information; then the language generated by the DMP is analyzed. An important point of the thesis lies in the collected data: hosting, dematerialization, safety, archiving, trackage and traceability, including the customizing of medicine and the fact that the relationship between the patient and the caregiver is changing. All this is studied throughout the leading theme of communication and the relevant sectors affected by e-health and more specifically by the DMP. This French development project of the care system has consequences upon the information systems and the health information system. Moreover, the change management has repercussions on a changing economic model, which is linked with the network economy

Our doctoral research focuses on the analysis of the role and the engineering of consultation spaces within the framework of the implementation of pilot projects within a community that has not experienced political alternation for 102 years. Consultation and the effects induced on the appropriation of change projects remains a research theme that is little covered in management science, yet paradoxically very present in the rhetoric of public and private management. It is thus a question of understanding how managerial consultation is constructed in projects subject to a dynamic of prescribed change and the effects induced on the development of prosocial behavior. This will include assessing to what extent consultation is likely to allow more effective regulation of the paradoxes that run through public management (tensions between administrative logic and political logic, high centralization of decision-making processes, lack of piloting culture). The question of the management, animation and engineering of these consultation spaces is also at the center of the thesis work, particularly through the analysis and characterization of the consultation activity. In addition, the place of these spaces will also be discussed from a praxeological perspective in connection with the discussion spaces. To answer these questions, we integrate several currents that fit into a theoretical framework articulating the preoccupations approach of Bareil (2004), the sociology of translation (Akrich, Callon & Latour, 2006), the socio approach. dynamics of social representations (Sales Wuillemin, 2008; Dreveton, 2012) and the model of prosocial behavior (Paillé, 2008; Desrumaux, 2012). Methodologically, the thesis mobilizes intervention research and provides access to a longitudinal case study with embedded units of analysis (4 pilot departments). The interest in a complex and multidimensional object benefiting from a lack of instrumentation and model has led us to adopt a mixed multi-method approach (Provost, 1999; Creswell and Plano Clark 2006). We have favored an exploratory design (inspired by Condomines & Hennequin (2013) with an abductive approach thus facilitating the triangulation effort. tracing consultation objects, to the design of a consultation space capable of constructing and disseminating meaning for the actors in a framework not regulated by a mandate, through the preparation of managers to exercise a role favorable to stakeholder engagement in the process. We have been able to show that these spaces remain strongly conditioned to the orchestration functions of institutional coupling and decoupling (Cappelletti & Dufour, 2017), in particular by discussing the appropriative dimension with regard to Brunsson's approach (2006). Finally, it is interesting to note that the consultation space constitutes an essential management tool for steering and supporting change. It therefore seems not to be strategically overlooked when questioning these links with prosocial behaviors, particularly with regard to performance. It thus represents the characteristics of a hybrid managerial innovation in the sense of David (1996), in other words a tool capable of showing another interpretation of organizational reality through the rational myth and of establishing new relationships between actors

While the scientific literature concludes that collaborative innovation is not a new concept, definitions are often contradictory and its implementation remains enigmatic. Therefore, this thesis in management aimed to address the issue by stating its main question as follows: "How do we capitalize on the new forms of work organization targeting collaborative innovation in regions supporting smart specialization strategies? The case of coworking spaces". As a consequence, the following research objectives have been formulated: 1. To analyze the collaborative dimension of the organization of work in order to detect its innovative potential; 2. To identify management processes that foster collaborative innovation using the case of coworking spaces; 3. To conjugate these processes at the level of a territory in order to propose an integrative management model capable of enhancing the potential of collaborative innovation. The thesis was articulated around three levels of analysis: conceptual, conjunctural and territorial. Empirical research has focused on several case studies: 11 coworking spaces in France and 6 coworking spaces in the United States. The triangulation of the data from semi - structured interviews, documentary analysis and empirical observation helped produce quality results. The conceptual analysis permitted to clarify the notion of "novelty" associated with the new forms of work organization, as well as their innovative potential; thus, this level of analysis aimed to outline the collaborative innovation analysis grid, the conceptual schema of the thesis. The conjunctural level of the analysis proposed an enriched conceptual diagram by integrating the elements of the fieldwork. Finally, the territorial analysis provided an integrative model of the territorial management of collaborative innovation. On the one hand, these results are meant to raise awareness of the new implications of collaborative work and its potential, particularly collaborative innovation; on the other hand, they emphasize the importance of space and the importance of the three types of communication - communication for coordination, communication for information, and communication for inspiration - in the management of collaborative innovation. Thus, they underline multiple opportunities to define new (public) policies for the management of (territorial) collaborative innovation

This Thesis is in relation between, communication, and the fight against HIV/AIDS in West Africa, precisely in Niger. The subject of this study is apprehended within the Science of Information and Communication field, mainly through the domain of “action of communication and societal utility”.In Niger, the prevalence of HIV stands low: 0, 7% (Health and Demographic survey in Niger, 2007). However, the cumulative characteristics of this country reveal a profile that could advantage the easy spread of the disease (poverty, socio cultural shortages…). The incidence of HIV remains a crucial problem for public health for which the prevention denotes to date the only way to stop the propagation of the disease. Firstly, our studies will involve the understanding of the communicational stakes of the disease prevention. The problematic will question the practices of the performers (those acting for prevention) which expect to change the behaviours of receptors. Secondly, the expected perspective of this work, pioneer in Niger, will be to link communication to action on the one hand, and on the other hand to study both the change in facts connected to the change in meanings and values and the implementation of this change. The theoretical and methodological background privileged is symbolized by the paradigm of the “binding communication” (Joule, 2000; Bernard & Joule, 2004) – going from ideas to facts (and reciprocally) – in order to fight against the HIV/AIDS disease. Finally, we will learn the notion of “establishing communication” (Joule & Bernard, 2005: Bernard, 2006) – the role of medias and mediations to found the changes in facts and values easing the passage from individual responsibility to collective responsibility

Millions of computerized records describing inpatient hospitalization activity are produced year after year in France. In spite of the availability of this massive amount of data, no global, iterative and well calibrated related study on health system efficiency has been possible. There are of course many specific studies partially or totally relying on these data, but their systematic use for assessing hospital activity, catchment areas or population health needs remains to be implented. Our work aims to contribute to create a methodological framework for analyzing these data through a three step approach :- Definition of data consolidation methods ;- Creation of adequate data repositories ;- Determination of analysis methods for two general topics : hospital activity characterization and study, with example applications
