The goal with this thesis is to find together with Saab Avionics Systems the correlation between applied current, air gap and forces that a brake with an electromagnetic release function have. This is achieved through theoretical calculations and practical tests. At the moment the brakes are used in electromechanical actuators that are applied in aircraft flap systems. These brakes have been in Saab’s collection of products since a decade and to keep on being a competitive supplier they need to optimize their design process. However, there are difficulties regarding calculating the force of the magnetic field of these brakes since it is very complicated. To better understand how the design can be altered the current product Power Off Brake needs to be tested and analyzed. The test equipment that was developed is designed so that the brake dimension, air gap and current can vary alongside a change of surrounding temperature. After a test in room temperature it was found that the test equipment had a margin of error about 10%. By testing Power Off Brake with the selected measuring method and test equipment Saab will get one step closer to better understand the relationship between theoretical calculations and practical tests. This can be used to reduce the safety margins when new brakes are to be developed since the test results provide insight about what happens when saturation in the material occur and how the brake perform in environmental conditions of an aircraft. Furthermore, the authors leave recommendations for continued work and suggestions for improved design.Målet med detta examensarbete är att tillsammans med Saab Avionics Systems finna en korrelation mellan strömstyrka, luftgap och kraft hos en broms med en elektromagnetisk frisläppning. Detta utförs genom teoretiska beräkningar och praktiska tester. Idag används bromsarna i elektromekaniska aktuatorer som appliceras i klaffsystem hos flygplan. Dessa bromsar har funnits i Saabs sortiment sen ett årtionde tillbaka och för att fortsätta vara en konkurrenskraftig leverantör behövs en optimal designprocess. Det finns dock svårigheter då det är avancerat att teoretiskt räkna ut hur stor kraft som kan utvinnas av magnetfältet hos dessa bromsar. För att förstå hur designen kan förändras behöver den befintliga bromsen Power Off Brake testas och analyseras. Testutrustningen som togs fram är designad med avsikt att kunna variera dimension på broms, luftgap, ström och temperaturförhållande. Efter ett test i rumstemperatur konstaterades att utrustningen har en felmarginal på cirka 10 %. Genom att testa Power Off Brake med vald testmetod och testutrustning kommer Saab ett steg närmare att förstå relationen mellan teoretiska beräkningar och praktiska tester. Då kan säkerhetsfaktorer minskas när nya bromsar designas. Mätresultaten ger insikt om vad som händer när mättnad i materialet uppstår och hur bromsen presterar i miljöförhållanden som kan uppstå i flygplan. Vidare lämnar författarna rekommendationer för fortsatt arbete och förslag på förbättrad design.

Венжега ; НУ "Чернігівська політехніка", кафедра автомобільного транспорту та галузевого машинобудування. – Чернігів, 2021. – 77 с.Було проведено аналітичний огляд легкового автомобіля Daewoo Lanos та поставлені задачі щодо модернізації дискового гальмівного механізму. Визначено масові показники та параметри обраного автомобіля, та окремих його складових. Проведений розрахунок силового балансу автомобіля, побудована зовнішня швидкісна характеристика двигуна та розраховані основні параметри трансмісії автомобіля. Розраховані основні тягово-динамічні характеристики. Розраховані гальмівні властивості обраного автомобіля, а також розрахований та побудований графік паливної економічності обраного автомобіля. Також проведено розрахунок основних параметрів дискового гальмівного механізму автомобіля, таких як: нагрівання гальмівного диска за одне гальмування, питоме навантаження в контакті пари тертя, розрахунок скоби дискового механізму на вигин і т.д.. Наступним кроком було проведено модернізацію дискового гальмівного механізму шляхом встановлення на обраний автомобіль гальмівного диску іншого типу та розміру для поліпшення гальмівних показників. В процесі роботи зроблено висновки та пропозиції щодо методів вдосконалення параметрів гальмівного механізму обраного автомобіля. Ключові слова: Daewoo Lanos, зовнішня швидкісна характеристика, силовий баланс, дисковий гальмівний механізм, модернізація гальмівного механізму.
An analytical inspection of the Daewoo Lanos car was performed and tasks were set to modernize the disc brake mechanism. The mass parameters and parameters of the selected car and its individual components were determined. The car's power balance was calculated, the external speed characteristic was constructed engine and calculated the main parameters of the car transmission. Calculated the main traction and dynamic characteristics. Calculated the braking properties of the selected car, as well as calculated and plotted fuel efficiency of the selected car. Also calculated the main parameters of the disc brake mechanism of the car, such as: heating the brake disc for one brake, the specific load in the contact of the friction pair, the calculation of the disc bracket bending, etc .. The next step was to upgrade the disc brake mechanism by installing a brake on the selected car disk of another type and size to improve braking performance. In the process, conclusions and suggestions were made on methods to improve the parameters of the brake mechanism of the selected car.

Práce se zabývá problematikou měření momentu u velmi vysokootáčkových strojů. Z důvodů vysokých rychlostí jsou tradiční metody měření momentu nepoužitelné, z tohoto důvodu je nutno vyvinout novou bezkontaktní metodu. Pro měření je zvolena metoda zatěžování vířivou brzdou, pro kterou je proveden analytický výpočet jejích vlastností pomocí Maxwellových rovnic a je vytvořen model vířivé brzdy v programu FEMM a Ansys/Maxwell 2D. Na závěr jsou výsledky simulací a výpočtů porovnány s měřením na prototypech brzdy.

The last section of the master's work is the process of researching the restoration of the master brake cylinder, which allows us, as owners in the operation of this car to conclude that it is cheaper to maintain and repair the truck. The following programs were used to perform calculations and graphics: "Compass 3D", "Paint", "Mathcad".

Об’єктом дослідження роботи є коробка передач автомобіля, з подальшим процесом дослідження сил тертя та зносу шатуна в парі шатун- палець. Мета роботи – виконати розрахунок системи трансмісії і дослідити процес сил тертя та зносу шатуна в парі шатун-палець. При виконанні кваліфікаційної роботи, визначили масові показники й параметри автомобіля, провели розрахунок двигуна автомобіля, розрахували показники динамічності автомобіля, його паливну економічність та гальмівні властивості. Проведено модернізацію коробки передач автомобіля ГАЗ-24 шляхом заміни коробки передач ГАЗ-24 на коробку передач автомобіля ГАЗ-3110. Було проведено розрахунок коробки передач. Відповідно об’єктом наукового дослідження в даній роботі являється проект легкового автомобіля з заміною коробки передач, а предметом – набуття практичних навичок з розрахунку різних систем та вузлів автомобіля з можливістю подальшого їх конструювання. Виконано дослідження сил тертя зносу шатуна в парі шатун-палець.
The subject of the work is the calculation of the car design. The object of the study is the gearbox of the car, followed by the process of studying the forces of friction and wear of the connecting rod in a pair of connecting rod - finger. The purpose of the qualification work is to calculate the transmission system and investigate the process of friction forces and wear of the connecting rod in the pair connecting rod - finger. During the master's work, the mass indicators and parameters of the car were determined, the car engine was calculated, the car dynamics indicators, its fuel economy and braking properties were calculated. The gearbox of the GAZ-24 car was modernized by replacing the GAZ-24 gearbox with the GAZ-3110 car gearbox. The gearbox was calculated. Accordingly, the object of scientific research in this work is the design of a car with the replacement of the gearbox, and the subject - the acquisition of practical skills in calculating the various systems and components of the car with the possibility of their further design. A study of the friction forces of the wear of the connecting rod in the pair of connecting rod-finger.

Виконано патентно-інформаційний пошук і проведено дослідження сил тертя та зносу шатуна в парі шатун-палець.

The three dystopian novels Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, Kallocain by Karin Boye and Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell have been highly discussed amongst literary critics and scholars. Although these works are well-known, some themes have had very little or no recognition. Biological reproduction is a recurring subject in dystopian literature. Although it is not the main theme in the novels, it is a very important part in dystopian culture and dystopian society. By focusing on reproduction and the structure of gender roles in these three dystopias, I hope to bring to light something that's been in the shadows for a long time i.e. the women of dystopian society. I will address the role of nature and technology in terms of reproduction by using Pia Maria Ahlbäck's theory of the heterotopia. Later, I will discuss the problems and possibilities of the role of women in biological reproduction.

The performance measuring technology for high-speed dental handpiece, has become an essential solution for worldwide manufacturer pursuing more stable and high performance products. The aim of this thesis is to design and develop a measuring system, which focus on the characteristic of high-speed dental handpiece, and can acquire its dynamic torque as well as its rotational speed simultaneously. With the principle of contact viscous force of fluid, the stick-slip phenomenon and vibration which are often occur on the fiction-brake type of measurement system can be avoided. Through controlling the liquid medium temperature and the shaft immersion depth, we can regulate the braking torque value along with its acting time on the spindle of dental handpiece cartridge. The power output of dental handpiece could be recorded continuously throughout its measuring process, and its performance can be practically analysis with diverse operating condition. To measure the dental handpiece cartridge, this thesis begins with deriving the theoretical background of viscous theory. With the modular concept, the structural design of measuring system had been constructed. The appropriate design parameter had been obtained through the optimization by simulation with FEA, CFD and theoretical analysis. The average transmitting efficiency of viscous braking unit of the novel measuring platform for dental handpiece, can reach to 80%. By applying the astigmatic DVD pickup head, the braking torque measuring unit can achieve its objective of measuring micro-torque, with the total measuring range from 0 to 8.54 Nmm, the resolution of 0.187 Nmm, the sensitivity of 1.0265 Nmm/V, and linear error of 2.19 %.

Dental handpieces are widely used in dental industry because of their operational advantages such as controllable cutting speed and cutting force. To achieve more stable operation and higher performance of dental handpieces, the development of performance measuring technology of high-speed dental handpieces is essential. In this thesis, the design and development of a dental handpiece measuring system of which can acquire its dynamic torque and its rotational speed, has been accomplished. With the principle of adaptable contact viscosity of magnetorheological fluid, the viscous force can be acted on the tested dental handpiece spindle as the breaking torque, and easily controlled by varying different magnet field intensity applied on the magnetorheological fluid. Due to the characteristic of magnetorheological fluid, the stick-slip phenomenon and vibration can be avoided compared to the traditional friction-brake type measurement system. To measure the performance of the dental handpieces, the research starts from deriving the viscous background theory of magnetorheological fluid. FEA (finite element analysis) and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulation have been approached to figure out the relationship between the design parameter and measuring system performances. Appropriated working range of applied magnet field intensity has also been studied by magnetic-electric field simulation software ANSYS Maxwell. Several experiments were implemented to verify the system performance. With the integrated DVD pickup head, the micro braking-torque measuring can be realized. The newly developed measuring platform of dental handpieces has its operational measurement range from 0.1 to 1.5 Nmm, the sensitivity of 4.4 Nmm/V, and linear error of 2.4%.

In the early 1970s, the Canadian welfare state began a radical transformation in which Canadians were left with a weaker social safety net in the areas of income supports, social services, and social legislation, a transformation that Canadians are coping with today. This thesis is an investigation of the extent to which Canadians found this transformation in their welfare state desirable. Using the Canadian Election Study from 1965 to 2011, I demonstrate that Canadians underwent an ideological shift within this time frame in which “being Canadian” has acquired connotations of self-reliance through work and the market, a phenomenon I refer to as the individuation of the Canadian citizenry. I conclude that while Canadians may have undergone significant individuation from the 1970s to the present, Canadians are still considerably collective with respect to more inclusive social policy areas such as healthcare and education.October 2015

Includes bibliographical references (leaves 123-127)This dissertation examines how three dystopian texts, namely Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, Jasper Fforde’s Shades of Grey and Veronica Roth’s Divergent trilogy, exhibit social conformity as a disciplinary mechanism of the ‘carceral’ – a notion introduced by poststructuralist thinker Michel Foucault. Employing poststructuralist discourse and deconstructive theory as a theoretical framework, the study investigates how each novel establishes its world as a successful carceral city that incorporates most, if not all, the elements of the incarceration system that Foucault highlights in Discipline and Punish. It establishes that the societies of the texts present potentially nightmarish future societies in which social and political “improvements” result in a seemingly better world, yet some essential part of human existence has been sacrificed. This study of these fictional worlds reflects on the carceral nature of modern society and highlights the problematic nature of the social and political practices to which individuals are expected to conform. Finally, in line with Foucault, it postulates that individuals need not be enclosed behind prison walls to be imprisoned; the very nature of our social systems imposes the restrictive power that incarcerates societies
