Economic awareness is the primary foundation for the human factor’s participation in the rapid and irreversible processes of the modern world, which should be formed from the very early childhood education. Economic awareness and interest in connected topics began to emerge around the time that the concepts of "economic awareness," "economic culture," "economic education," and so on were first introduced into scientific literature. According to the hypothesis of this study, children can develop economic awareness through the use of children's literature, including fairy tales. In general, the following three components are especially essential when considering the development of economic consciousness among children: Determination of the appropriate age of children; Identification of educational resources; Development of the methodology for forming economic awareness. In this study the theoretical framework for the research was developed based on Georgian and foreign scientific literature, as well as existing studies in the field of education; the research object was defined; and a mixed methodology of socioeconomic and humanities research was used to analyze the fairy tales and reach conclusions relevant to the research objectives. The work is based on research conducted in private and public kindergartens across Georgia, with both educators and children participating. Furthermore, interviews with early education experts at several Georgian higher education institutions were conducted and the research findings provided. Keywords: economics, children, formation of economic awareness, early childhood education, fairytales JEL Classification: A20; A21; I25; I26; P4;

A person is a being influenced by the environment, and the study of conformism assists us to find out what kind of influence the social environment can have on an individual and by what mechanisms serve social influences. The purpose of our research is to determine how the nature of the social group affects the degree of conformity, and this was influenced by comparing the level of conformity between different professions. Conformism has a significant impact on a whole society, such as small groups within it. With this research, we were able to differentiate how the degree of conformity poles apart in these small groups. For our study we selected students of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, 10-10 from each of 15 professions: Psychology, Business Administration, Georgian Philology, Law, Economics, Medicine, Pedagogy, Mathematics, English Philology, Architecture, Computer Sciences, History, Tourism, Engineering, International Relations. Age: 18, 19, 20, 21, 21 and up. 150 respondents were used in the research, from them – 75 female, 75 male. As an example of research, we took Mehrabian's and Steph's conformity scale. In order to maintain reliability we used the quantitative method, we covered the purpose of the research before conducting it, and introduced it immediately after conducting it. According to these standards we completely secured every norm of ethic codex. The conducted research proved that each group differs in the degree of conformity. The church discussed in the paper is situated in Avgia, on the outskirts of Batumi. It is an early Christian period hall-type church with northern and southern wings. The ground plan of the whole structure resembles the well-known layout of the croixlibre. The whole building is 23.85 m long and 19.0 m wide – including the arms. It has a projecting semi-circular apse whose radius is 6.05 m. The main space of the church is divided into three parts. It consists of a transverse hall, which may have operated as a narthex, a hall, and an altar apse. The floor of the structure was covered with pinkish lime mortar, a mixture of small pebbles and ceramic powder. The only central entrance to the church was located on the west side. The northern annex had an entrance in the north-western corner, and the southern one – in the south-eastern corner. The church seems to have been built of rubble stone. The construction style, layout, and archaeological evidence from the site narrow down its chronology to the 5th and 6th centuries AD.

The main purpose of our study was to study the level of stress in today's youth. We also found it interesting to compare and determine whether there would be a difference in the level of stress among working and non-working young people who are only engaged in studies. In addition, we wanted to study the situation of young people living in urban and mountainous areas. According to the existing hypothesis, the level of stress among the inhabitants of the highlands should be significantly lower than that of the inhabitants of the city. We also found it interesting to study depression rates, here again on the assumption that depression rates would be significantly higher among urban youth than those living in the regions. The results obtained allow us to conclude that students who are employed during their studies have an overall stress score almost twice as high as students who are not employed. As the second stage of the study showed, our assumption that city dwellers would have a significantly higher level of stress was not confirmed. There is a difference, but a minor one. As for the study of the level of depression, the results showed that the percentage of depressive states among students living in the city and region is very small. However, this study once again confirmed the link between stress levels and depression.

The choice of a profession is one of the important stages in a person's life, it can be said that it determines most of the future life. The choice of profession is, first of all, the choice of a person. When choosing a profession, a person chooses not only the necessary means to meet material needs, but also a way of life. A choice made without regard to the profession, or only taking into account external circumstances or the interests of others, is an experiment that can cost a person and the people around him dearly. The purpose of our study was to study the professional interests and professional orientation of the students of the pilot schools, to determine how well they are informed about the issues of vocational education and what factors influence the choice of a profession. We should also conduct a training on the topic: "Choose a profession." According to the hypothesis, the students of our school are less informed about the issues of vocation, and are also insufficiently prepared for the right choice of profession. The results of the study confirmed our assumption. In particular, it was found that the students of our school are less informed in matters of vocational training, and are also insufficiently prepared for the right choice of profession, which means taking into account their own interests, skills and abilities when choosing a profession. Pupils experience a lack of information on issues related to professions. In addition, respondents believe that the school needs the work of a psychologist who will provide qualified advice on issues related to the choice of profession. It is noteworthy that it is important that pupils are better informed about what skills and abilities are necessary for mastering different professions. Therefore, at each stage of the study, it was important to determine the correspondence of skills and abilities to the chosen profession.

The share of tourism is 14% in the gross domestic product (GDP) of the region, including accommodation, food, art, entertainment and recreation. After Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism started recovering since 2022, when more than 2 million foreign visits were recorded in the region. 58% of Adjara hotels are located in Batumi. Tourists, who are attracted by gambling business, namely by casinos, hold the quite large niche at the tourist market of Batumi. It is the gambling business that enables to load the international brand hotels during the off-season period. The given survey was aimed at analyzing of the gambling business role in the formation of revenues of Batumi city municipality and international brand hotels. Revenues received from fees paid for gambling business and income tax paid by casinos is important for the city budget. The casino has a special place in the additional income of the hotel. Hotel rooms, provided to casinos at a discount, become the guarantee for the stable occupancy. On average, casinos provide more than 50% of the annual occupancy index of hotels, which often gives the possibility to cover the hotel off-season operation charges. Regulation of the gambling business by the government enables to reduce its disadvantages. With a responsible approach to the gambling business, the role of casinos is huge in generating revenues for tourist destinations and businesses.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Georgia became a country of intensive emigration. However, the last decade has marked a notable change in the country’s migration profile due to the inflow of immigrants. This is a new challenge for contemporary Georgia, especially in terms of immigrant integration. The purpose of this paper is to identify the main features of labour migrants’ integration into Georgian society. The research findings are mostly based on the results of a qualitative sociological research, employing in-depth interviews with migrant workers residing in Georgia, and experts of the field. Lack of complete legislation and sound policies is the main characteristic feature of labour immigration management in Georgia; therefore, the migrant integration process goes spontaneously: one group of migrants, namely English- and Russian-speakers, as well as skilled workers still feel comfortable, and they keep intense communication with the local population. Another part of migrants who is denied state support in studying Georgian remains isolated from the host society.

In the modern post-covid period, against the background of the hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, the sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, the cancellation of the visa regime by the Russian Federation with Georgia and the restoration of air traffic allowed Russian citizens to enter European countries through Georgia, which further increased the transit attractiveness of Georgia. The study of the specifics of logistics systems management, the detection of existing problems in this field was on the agenda. The purpose of the research is to study the specifics of the transit-logistics corridor of Georgia, to study the challenges in this field and to search for ways to solve them. In this article, based on the review of various literary sources, the main issues of management of the logistics system of Georgia are analyzed. In this article, the methods of analysis, synthesis, collection and grouping of materials were used, on the basis of which the transit potential of Georgia was identified and the ways of its implementation were determined. As a result of the research, the factors hindering the sustainable development of the logistics system of Georgia were identified, the elimination of which will help to increase the competitiveness of the logistics system of Georgia and the qualification level of the personnel employed in them. In order to eliminate the challenges in the logistics systems of Georgia, we have developed recommendations, the consideration of which will significantly improve the management mechanism of modern logistics systems.

Georgia’s cultural wealth is the result of the country’s centuries-old history and complex ethnic, religious and political relations. Islam, present in these areas since the seventh century, was of significant importance for the shaping of Georgian architecture. Architectural elements characteristic of Middle Eastern art were thus transferred to a Christian country. Arabs and Persians left behind buildings and ornamental details. The article is the result of field research carried out in Georgia, the purpose of which was to identify the issues of shaping and preserving memory and cultural and religious identity in the Muslim community. Georgian Muslim architecture is heavily neglected and requires increased protection, and above all significant financial resources that are difficult to obtain from a small number of Islamic communities. On the other hand, contemporary trends in Georgian architecture are realized and financed by Muslim businesses.

The global innovation index is used to evaluate the innovation environment in the country. The components included in this index mainly consider human knowledge and education. Human capital is one of the most important drivers of economic growth and innovation. The growth of investments in human capital will contribute to the growth of the economic value of education, the correct distribution of resources, and the correct management of state policy. The purpose of our research is to justify the need to invest in human capital and to evaluate its effectiveness, which is the main factor in the development of the innovative economy in the current period. In order to evaluate the effectiveness between the innovative economy and human capital, we conducted a study in companies. The research examines the attitude of employers and employees working in the Adjara region towards professional growth events (training/seminars) that are directly related to innovative technologies. Spending on education today is one of the most important ways to earn a higher income in the future. The amount of human capital in a country depends on education, that's why in developed countries, the effectiveness and strategies of investing in education are measured by the cost-benefit ratio. According to the Global Innovation Index, Georgia is in the category of upper-middle income countries. According to the 2022 report, Georgia showed high results in only 2 out of 7 categories. However, it should also be noted that the components of the index are based more on quantitative indicators than on qualitative indicators, so a single index cannot be a perfect estimator.

A person's life satisfaction is determined by various factors: feeling satisfied with oneself and achievements, positive relationships, social involvement, independence, self-acceptance, continuous growth. Our well-being is also greatly influenced by partnership relations. As part of our research, I wanted to find out how much our love relationships govern our sense of subjective well-being. An unhealthy relationship can affect many areas of mental health, life satisfaction, self-perception, and even self-esteem. A positive partner relationship, characterized by factors such as emotional support, friendship, intimacy, and effective communication, is associated with reduced stress levels, improved mood, and greater psychological resilience (Pietromonaco & Collins, 2017). Moreover, the benefits of healthy partnerships go beyond psychological well-being to include aspects of physical health. For example, individuals with satisfying relationships have lower rates of cardiovascular disease, better immune system function, and even longer life spans (Robles & Kiecolt-Glaser, 2003). Having a supportive partner can also enhance individuals' social well-being by providing belonging, validation, and social support during difficult times (Gable & Gosnell, 2013). It is interesting to believe that two people can have such a great influence on each other, that their symbiosis can lead not only to their relationship satisfaction and happiness, but also to the level of well-being, self-acceptance, autonomy, adaptation to the environment, etc. These factors will be discussed in the paper. Romantic relationships are a central aspect of most people's lives. We hypothesize that satisfaction with the partnership affects subjective well-being and life satisfaction. However, it is also essential to note that effective destination marketing has an equally vital role to play in shaping the success of the tourism sector. The organization of events of various kinds has become more important in recent years, not only by focusing on the short-term increase in tourism demand, but also as an element of urban development policy with hoped-for effects on politics, economy and society. The aim of this article is to highlight the challenges in event management with a focus on small events. Management approaches to the involvement and interaction of stakeholders, the formation of a planning strategy for the development of the destination are considered. The role and nature of sponsorship associated with increasing the value of small events, as well as the development of a marketing management model for territory marketing, are investigated. Article also emphasizes the role of complex communication strategies in increasing the value of small events. In the conclusion, the marketing management model for small events is represented, that can be the result of problem solving processes by event organizers based on the creation of alliances in the community ecosystem.

This paper aims to bring attention of the Japanese Garden experts to the unknown pearl, real jewelamong Japanese gardens abroad, which was built in the beginning of the 20th century in the Batumi Botanical Garden, Georgia. We assume that this Garden has a significant value for the history of the Japanese gardens abroad, since it might be the oldest one on the territory of Imperial Russia. Japanese gardens, which has millennium-old history of religion and landscaping art, have begun their spread worldwide at the end of 19th – beginning of 20th centuries. The first examples were intended to introduce Japanese culture overseas and were connected to international events or as a part of an active cultural and political exchange between the countries’ governments 1. However, the building of the Japanese Garden at the Batumi Botanical Garden was not dedicated to any big international event. From this prospective, we can conclude that it is somehow unique in few aspects: historical, cultural and even diplomatically. Research question of the paper is: how and why the Japanese garden was built in Batumi? Our research on the Japanese Garden at the Batumi Botanical Garden will be limited due to the lack of materials on the topic. Some questions to be researched will still remain. Nonetheless, this paper is the attempt to summarize and analyze all sources on the topic available in Georgia.

The use of social media advertising as a means of marketing communication is gaining strategic importance for companies operating in Georgia. Social media-advertising research is all the more relevant for those firms that are trying to deliver a marketing "message" to a wide audience with minimal costs and brand positioning in the market. The relevance of the problem is determined by the fact that the influence of social media advertising on the development of Georgian companies, their branding process and the effectiveness of the returns received from the investment of their marketing activities has not been properly studied. The purpose of the research is to develop the best mechanism for using social media advertising for companies operating in Georgia, to determine the most favorable form for use as a marketing communication tool based on user behavior. Methods of data collection and observation were used to develop the paper. We used the collection method to assess the possibility of using social media advertising by companies operating in Georgia, and the observation method - to determine the potential of their social media space, based on which the possibilities of increasing the effectiveness of companies through social media advertising were identified. As a result of the research, it is clear that Georgian companies use social media advertising to improve their brand, to attract a new target audience. Social media advertising has a strategic importance in increasing the effectiveness of companies operating in Georgia at all stages of their operation. Accordingly, we can refer to the complex combination of traditional and electronic businesses as a result of using social media advertising, which will help to increase the marketing efforts of companies operating in Georgia and, as a result, their competitiveness and operational efficiency. Abstract The subject under scrutiny is Sephardic and Ashkenazi synagogues in Batumi (the Black Sea Region of Georgia) that reveal both universal and culturally specific forms. The paper is based on ethnographic data gathered during fieldwork in Batumi, in 2019, and on the theoretical postulates of anthropology of infrastructure. The article argues that the Batumi synagogues could be viewed and understood as ‘infrastructure’ in their own right, as they serve as objects through which other objects, people, and ideas operate and function as a system. The paper attempts to demonstrate how the sacred edifices change their trajectory according to modern conditions and how the sacred place is inserted and coexists inside a network of touristic infrastructure.

One of the most important geographical bottlenecks for migrating raptors in the east African-Palearctic migration system is situated between the easternmost tip of the Black Sea and the Lesser Caucasus, just north of Batumi, in the Republic of Georgia. Since 2008, citizen scientists of the Batumi Raptor Count (BRC) have monitored the autumn raptor passage daily from mid-August until mid-October, collecting also detailed information about the age and sex of focal species. The full BRC dataset was recently made available through the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). Here we describe how count data were collected, managed, and processed for trend analysis over the past 10 years. This dataset offers a unique baseline for monitoring the state of migrant raptor populations in the east African-Palearctic flyway in the 21st century. We discuss potential pitfalls for users and hope that the open access publication of our data will stimulate flyway-scale and continent-wide collaboration for raptor migration monitoring in the Old World.

Besik Kvachantiradze E-mail: b.kvatchantiradze@gmail.com PhD Students,Batumi Shota Rustaveli state University Batumi, Georgia https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2833-1007 Abstract: The article discusses the stages of formation of the business environment of Georgia and the ways of its improvement with the cooperation of the European Union. Strengthening relations with the European Union has been the main goal of Georgia's foreign policy for years. Small and medium-sized enterprises, which are the basis of the successful development of the European Union, in recent decade have been operating in close collaboration with large businesses. Therefore, in our opinion, it is interesting to analyze the ratio of large, medium and small enterprises in the European Union. Since Georgia has taken the direction to European development, a number of reforms have been implemented in the country to encourage small and medium-sized businesses, which in turn has a possitive effect on the development of the country's overall economy. In addition to the state support for small businesses in the European Union, all member states have their own national system for stimulating the development of small businesses, the purpose of which is to create an economic climate that will contribute to the creation of economic conditions and normal functioning. This, in the first place, includes the creation of national institutions and the organization of financial assistance, training system for enterprise manager and entrepreneurs who want to start independent activities. Under taking European experience and mechanisms into consideration, a number of projects were implemented in Georgia, which contributed to the expansion and development of Georgian small and medium-sized businesses, in addition, retraining of the Georgian workforce and adjusting working conditions to European standards. Moreover, Georgia can greatly accelerate its economic development, strengthen its competitiveness and achieve its goals - through sustainable growth and job creation. Cooperation with the European Union offers Georgia great opportunities for learning, innovation and integration into the global economy. The article offers recommendations and suggestions that focus on creating closer relations with the European Union and attracting more foreign investment, which will ensure the economic prosperity of the country. Abstract. The aim of this study was to determine certain basic properties of soils in the Batumi delta (southwestern Georgia) to determine the relationships of studied properties and to identify differences with regards to these properties between different sampling sites in the delta that were selected based on the delta morphology. In this context, a total of 125 soil samples were collected from five different sampling sites, and the clay, silt and sand content of the samples were determined along with their mean weight diameter (MWD) values, aggregate stability (AS) values, amount of water retained under −33 (FC) and −1500 kPa (WP) pressure and organic matter (OM) content. Correlation analysis indicated that clay content and OM were positively correlated with MWD, and OM was positively correlated with AS. However, the sand content was found to be negatively correlated with MWD. In addition, clay, silt and OM content were positive correlated with FC and WP. Variance analysis results determined statistically significant differences between the sampling sites with respect to all of the evaluated properties. The active delta section of the study area was characterized by high sand content, while the lower delta plain was characterized by high OM and AS values, and the upper delta plain was characterized by high MWD values, high FC and WP moisture content levels and high clay and silt content. In conclusion, it was demonstrated that the examined properties were significantly affected by the different morphological positions and usages of these different areas. These results may help with the management of agricultural lands in the Batumi delta, which has never been studied before.

Among young unemployed or underemployed men in the port city of Batumi, the regional center of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara in Georgia, the Black Sea is a social and imaginary horizon that signifies both geographical mobility and confinement. Since Georgia gained independence, Batumi went from being a Soviet borderland to being an opening to the West. However, due to visa regulations, “the West”—and the opportunities associated with it—has long been limited to the other Black Sea countries of Turkey and Ukraine. Following the August 2008 war, Russia, although being a much more desirable destination, became out of reach for the majority of these men. Through the notions of social and geographical horizons, this article argues that the young men, despite their sense of confinement, manage to forge alternative connections to Russia via Internet sites, where the online dating of Russian women was used as a means to gain access to Russia via marriage.

Pichvnari lies on the Black Sea coast of Georgia, at the confluence of the Choloki and Ochkhamuri rivers, some 10km to the north of the town of Kobuleti in the Ajarian Autonomous Republic (fig 1). The site has been known since the 1950s, and excavations were carried out in both the settlement and its various cemeteries in succeeding years, under the auspices of the Batumi Archaeological Museum and the Batumi Research Institute. The site was surveyed and a notional grid-plan imposed, within which subsequent work was recorded. By the time of the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1989–90, the Pichvnari Expedition was a fixture in the Georgian archaeological calendar, but with the abrupt decline in the Georgian economy this happy state of affairs came to an end.In 1998, however, work started again in collaboration with the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. In the spring of that year, the dig-house (part of an old kolkhoz, collective farm) was restored with the aid of the Seven Pillars of Wisdom Trust. The roof was mended, and water and electricity laid on. The first season took place in July and August, when work (briefly reported in Vickers 1998) was conducted in the areas of both the North, or ‘Colchian’, and West, or ‘Greek’, Cemeteries.

The soil quality index is a quantitative assessment concept and it is used in the evaluation of ecosystem components. Because of the high potential for agriculture and biodiversity, deltas are the most valuable parts of the ecosystem. This study aimed to determine the soil quality index (SQI) in the Batumi Delta, Georgia. For this purpose, the study area was divided into five plots due to their morphological positions (L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5). A total of 125 soil samples were taken for analysis including clay content (CC), silt content (SC), sand content (SaC), mean weight diameter (MWD), aggregate stability (AS), amount of water retained under -33 kPa (FC) and -1500 kPa (WP) pressures and organic matter content (OM). These properties were used as the main criteria, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Factor Analysis were used for weighting them. Sub-criteria were scored using expert opinion and the linear score functions, such as “more is better” and “optimum value”. For determining SQI, the additive method (SQIA), the weighted method with AHP (SQIAHP), and the weighted method with factor analysis (SQIFA) were used. The resulting SQI scores of the three methods were ordered as SQIAHP>SQIA>SQIFA, but these differences were not significant. However, the SQI scores of the plots (p≤0.01) showed statistically significant differences and were ordered as L5>L4>L3>L2>L1.

Business activity and its various directions change parallel to global political-social-economic processes, and they frequently must adjust to new, occasionally unanticipated situations and change their activities fundamentally. The sustainability of entrepreneurial activity is ultimately impacted by how responsive it is to external influences and how frequently appropriate management techniques of the processes must be changed. The paper analyzes the legal grounds of the status of small and medium-sized business organisations in Georgia and their classification criteria, and discusses the historical experience and international practice of giving such status. The article also analyzes the dynamics of economic indicators and special taxing regimes, based on which conclusions are formed taking into account the particulars of various business entity categories and special regimes. The article discusses various theories and offers recommendations, which will be interesting and noteworthy for a wide audience with an interest in this topic.

The historical residence of the Zhuruli family was Ksani Gorge. This is exactly the place from where the resettlement of the above-mentioned clan to other parts of Georgia begins. A part of the Zhuruli family settled in the Small Liakhvi Gorge, specifically, in the village of Arbo. In the ‘Book of Duty Army’ (1774) several representatives of the Zhuruli family were mentioned in this village. At the beginning of the 19th century, Shalva Zhuruli, who lived in Arbo, together with other representatives of the feudal aristocracy, actively engaged in the fight that was meant to free the country from Russian violence. Shalva Zhuruli was arrested together with others involved in the Mtiuleti rebellion of 1804. Shalva Zhuruli had several children, including Malkhazi, Levani, Durmishkhani, and Gaiane. At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, Durmishkhan Zhuruli greatly contributed to the development of Georgian society. His name is related to numerous national events. At different times, he worked as a police officer in Gori and Surami. He also served as a Chief of Batumi Police. Durmishkhan was actively involved in the activities concerned with the return of Adjara to the motherland. He was engaged in negotiations with Sherif-Beg Khimshiashvili following the instructions from the government. Durmishkhan Zhuruli had a close relationship with the remarkable representatives of the Georgian Society. Durmishkhan believed that the lack of education was the only reason why Georgians were left behind. He advocated for the establishment of schools, which is demonstrated in his articles published in the newspaper Iveria. Family members of Durmishkhan Zhuruli duly continued the business of the founder of the Batumi Organization of the Society for the Spreading Literacy among Georgians. საკვანძო სიტყვები: საქართველოს ისტორია, რუსეთ-თურქეთის ომი (1877-1878), დურმიშხან ჟურული.Keywords: History of Georgia, Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878), Durmishkhan Zhuruli.

Georgia was no exception. Against the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the business environment of Georgia has undergone significant transformations. The country has recognized the vital role of economic development in the well-being of society, and the government has focused on promoting the growth of innovation while overcoming the obstacles caused by the pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted global trade and tourism, which has had a huge impact on Georgia's economy. With a heavy reliance on tourism, border closures and travel restrictions have led to a sharp drop in tourist arrivals, leading to job losses and reduced business revenue. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which are the backbone of Georgia's economy, have faced enormous challenges during the pandemic. Many businesses, particularly in the retail, hospitality and entertainment sectors, have been forced to close due to financial constraints and lack of government support. Addressing these obstacles required coordinated efforts by government authorities and international organizations to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic and implement recovery efforts. Georgia has been trying to adapt to global economic trends for years; and the pandemic has highlighted the need for acceleration of innovation and adaptation to international business norms and standards. One of the most important autumn migration bottlenecks for birds of prey in the Western Palearctic is situated in South-Western Georgia, between the east coast of the Black Sea and the range of Lesser Caucasus. Every year from mid-August till October at least 1% of the world’s population of 10 raptor species passes through this corridor. Specifically, over one million raptors are recorded annually, including on average 528467 Honey Buzzards (Pernis apivorus), on average 163985 Black Kites (Milvus migrans), 304819 Steppe Buzzards (Buteo buteo vulpinus), and around 8000 Lesser Spotted Eagles (Aquila [Clanga] pomarina). The specifics of the landscape and relief makes the foothills of the Lesser Caucasus to the north of Batumi an ideal spot for counting raptor migration, and since 2008, an international team of volunteers, the Batumi Raptor Count, has monitored autumn raptor migration from two strategic vantage points. The count effort is focused on 7 priority species, including Honey Buzzard, Black Kite, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Booted Eagle (Hieraaetus pennatus), Marsh, Montagu’s and Pallid Harriers (Circus aeruginosus, C. pygargus, C. macrourus, respectively). In addition, 13 other diurnal raptor species and 10 non-raptor bird species are monitored at the BRC. Using the trektellen-app, BRC is able to record all data digitally in the field, and to provide daily updates of migration counts on its website. At the end of each season, the data is cleaned and made available through the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). Protocols were developed to standardize count effort across years, thus allowing an accurate assessment of population trends in the priority species. Importantly, the BRC systematically records data on the age and sex of raptors, allowing to infer trends separately for different demographic groups. The standardized data collected from 2011 till 2019 revealed rather stable numbers for most priority species, but also a significant annual decrease in numbers of juvenile Montagu’s Harriers; a strong ongoing increase in numbers of both juvenile and adult Black Kites; and increase in numbers of adult Booted Eagles accompanied by a decrease in juvenile birds of this species. Based on GPS-tracking studies on a variety of species, it appears that the western border of the breeding area for the populations counted by BRC is most probably not too far away from the western border of Russia. At least in case of Spotted Eagles, individuals breeding in the Baltic States, Finland, and Germany tend to use the migration routes to the West from the Black Sea, and this is also the case for birds from Western Ukraine and Belarus. There is insufficient data available to define the eastern border for the populations migrating through Batumi. We do know that raptors tracked from the south of Siberia tend to migrate to the east from the Caspian Sea, although some Pallid Harriers tracked from Russia and Kazakhstan do migrate over the Caucasus. All considered, we assume that the vast majority of raptors observed in Batumi during autumn migration breed in Central European Russia up to the Ural Mountains. A comparison of Batumi counts with the breeding population size estimates in Russia and neighbouring countries suggests that a significant proportion of the Russian population of the Lesser Spotted Eagle and Honey Buzzard is passing through the Batumi bottleneck on migration. Trends in migration counts at Batumi are probably representative of changes in raptor breeding populations from European Russia and Western Kazakhstan. In addition to collecting the data on migration, the BRC supports the development of ecotourism in the area and combats the widespread poaching of migrating raptors in Georgia by implementing various educational programs in schools and higher education institutions in Georgia. The BRC would like to build stronger links with professional ornithologists and amateur birdwatchers from the breeding areas of the raptors that pass through Batumi each year, and cordially invites everyone to participate in its migration counts.

Since 2008 Batumi Raptor Count (BRC) project has been monitoring autumn migration of birds of prey in the eastern African-Palearctic flyway in southwest Georgia on the eastern coast of the Black Sea. Every autumn this flyway is used by a significant proportion of the global population of such raptor species as Honey Buzzard (Pernis apivorus), Montagu’s Harrier (Circus pygargus), Pallid Harrier (C. macrourus) and Marsh Harrier (C. aeruginosus). At least 1% of the global population of 10 raptor species migrates through the Batumi flyway. Batumi Raptor Count is of vital importance for the development of ecotourism in the region, creating an economic, political, and social foundation for raptor conservation and contributing to a reduction of widespread illegal hunting. The project also works to introduce ecology and conservation into local schools and higher education programs. This manuscript’s aim is to summarise the 13 years of the BRC. It contains a detailed description of a typical migration season in one of the most important bottlenecks for raptor migration globally. The current manuscript is loosely based on the publication in British Birds summarising the history of the BRC (Hoekstra et al., 2020). The main difference, apart from publishing it in Russian, is in taking into account the data obtained in 2021 and emphasising the importance of the autumn migration monitoring in Batumi for the conservation and research of the Russian raptor populations.

It is for this reason that the current nature of the mentioned topic is caused, since the main and driving goal of any organization is to achieve success. "In all types of organizations, whether large or small, manufacturing or service, people management is of prime importance. Without properly selected, positioned and professionally trained human resources, no organization can achieve its goals and survive." Within the competitive environment of the XXI century, where the business has become a rapidly developing field, new organizations are being created every day, the public mission of which is to provide the population with the goods and services it produces, while the goal is to achieve a high level of productivity, however, the success cannot be achieved if the process of selection and recruitment of existing human resources is carried out in the wrong way. The very workforce is the one that gives a company a distinct niche and edge over others. The human resource is the most critical resource that significantly determines the effectiveness of any organization. It is not easy to coordinate and direct the efforts of many people to achieve a common goal. [2] The human resources do not only imply the number of individuals, but also their knowledge, skills, qualifications, intelligence, experience and capabilities. In order the company to reach the international standards in the field of production of goods or sale of services, it is necessary to ensure staffing of personnel department with experienced managers who are responsible for the selection of appropriate and professional staff for the company. [6] Proper selection of human resources, management, and concern of the development is the key to the success of companies involved in business. The purpose of the present study is to develop correct and accurate recommendations for Georgian companies, taking into account the practical examples of international companies, which will allow them to improve the level of human resources management and help raise the level of productivity of employees.

In this article, for research purposes, we talk about the functions of information media, and as a recommendation, the ways and methods of manipulating people through information communications are discussed. Peer technologies are also considered significantly for research. As we know, the media is mostly engaged in covering such issues as: education, health care, poverty, current events in the world. However, we should also not forget that the media plays a major role in fostering national self-awareness. The media is the main informant, a kind of transfer for the society on social, economic, political and cultural issues both inside and outside the country. "Communication affects culture, although it contributes to social and economic development. It mobilizes society and demands the appropriate attention from them." (Wilmer Shrem) The main function of information media management is the development of an organizational structure that facilitates the provision of correct information to the public. Media has a great influence on society, especially this influence is observed on human psychology. If for a long time the society thought it unbelievable to achieve various goals through the media, today it can be considered a normal occurrence. This was caused by the development of technology and the entry into the field of mass communication of the economy. The media can both lower people's worldview and its decline, informational regression. Thus, information management is the process of functional management of information. Its essence lies in the fact that a clear result is obtained by coordinating information, which is possible through top managers. In 1929, local officials in the mountainous region of upper Ajara in the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR) pursued aggressive policies to force women to remove their veils and to close religious schools, provoking the Muslim peasant population to rebellion in one of the largest and most violent of such incidents in Soviet history. The central authorities in Moscow authorized the use of Red Army troops to suppress the uprising, but they also reversed the local initiatives and offered the peasants concessions. Based on Party and secret police files from the Georgian archives in Tbilisi and Batumi, this article will explore the ways in which local cadres interpreted regime policies in this Muslim region of Georgia, and the interaction of the center and periphery in dealing with national identity, Islam, gender, and everyday life in the early Soviet period.

Introduction: In Georgia limited data exists about awareness of blood borne-diseases among dental health care workers (DHCW). Methodology: To assess DHCW knowledge, attitudes and practices related to infection control practice guidelines designed to limit transmission of blood-borne diseases, a cross-sectional study was conducted. All respondents were asked to voluntarily complete a self-administered questionnaire. Doctors of Dental Medicine, nurses, and dental residents were recruited from 13 private and governmental dental units in three large Georgian cities: Tbilisi (the capital city), Batumi (Western Georgia) and Rustavi (Eastern Georgia). Results: Of 244 DHCWs recruited, 196 (80%) agreed to participate. Nearly 42% DHCWs did not know the prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) in Georgia. Knowledge about risk factors for transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), HCV and HBV was low; correct response proportions among all DHCWs were 45.3%, 37.9% and 34.2% for these pathogens, respectively. The 59.7% of DHCWs were uninformed about post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV. Only 37.3% reported being well informed on infection control guidelines. Nearly all (95.6%) DHCWs expressed interest in receiving additional education on occupational transmission of blood-borne pathogens. Conclusions: Overall, the study suggests DHCWs are aware they have insufficient knowledge of universal precautions. There is a need for developing a continuous education program that is accessible to practicing DHCWs.

The paper aims to study such important aspects of the implementation of the customs policy in Georgia, which serve to deal with the modern challenges of protecting the domestic market from foreign goods competition and stimulating exporters, for which the issues of harmonizing the customs system and customs legislation of Georgia with the customs system and customs legislation of the European Union are very important. Since the day of gaining independence, Georgia has recognized the European course of economic development, and accordingly, the main vectors of the formation of the customs system, customs policy and customs legislation were implemented taking into account the experience of the EU countries. The formation of the customs system is a difficult and complex process, for which the development of a perfect legal framework regulating the customs system has a special role. The goal of harmonizing Georgia's customs legislation with the European Union is based on real economic results. The study of the current situation and the analysis of statistical data reveal that the measures implemented for the approximation of the customs legislation with the European Union do not bring results. The reason for saying this is provided by the statistical data on the current state of trade relations between Georgia and the EU countries presented in the paper and the dynamics of the last period, according to which no positive trends in this direction can be observed. The paper offers recommendations and proposals that, along with the changes in legal norms, will contribute to the deepening of trade relations with the European Union and the strengthening of economic ties.

Georgia is a country with ancient history and original unique culture. The country historyis a long list of rises and downfalls of empires, intrusions of external enemies, violenceand wars. But, at the same time, this country has huge cultural heritage. Georgia is aunique country possessing enormous tourism potential. Extended along the Black Seacoast, it has about 300 mountains (Abastumani, Bakuriani, Bahmaro, Gudauri, etc.),seaside (Kobuleti, Ureki, Batumi, and etc.), balneotherapeutic and mud (Borzhomi,Sairme, Likani, and etc.) health resorts, over 10 thousand monuments of archeology, history, architecture and art, and also numerous nature sanctuaries. And all these areconcentrated within the small territory occupied by the hospitable and distinctive people.Since the Georgian government decided to move their parliament to Kutaisi, therehas been a lot of work on restoring streets, buildings, parks and monuments and thecity has become much safer. But a visit here is nonetheless near mandatory to see themagnificent Bagrati Cathedral, and Gelati Monastery, both of which are UNESCO WorldHeritage sites, and have commanding views from the mountain slopes over the city andthe Rioni river.

The belt and road initiative (BRI) put forward by the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in autumn 2013 is one of the priorities of it’s modern foreign policy. Within the framework of BRI China has concluded agreements on practical cooperation with many countries, including Georgia. For Georgia, BRI is an opportunity to become a land and sea transport hub between Europe and Asia. The overland route combines the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad with the Yavuz Sultan Selim bridge across the Bosporus Strait. The sea route serves as an gate to Europe through the ports in Batumi, Poti and Anaklia. The work shows the importance of BRI for the formation of Georgia as a transport hub and the benefits that both countries derive from cooperation under this initiative.

In Adjara, Georgia, an ethnovisual tourism atlas can provide an immersive experience of local culture and heritage. Community engagement and participation are essential for the preservation of cultural heritage and for the benefit of the local community. Environmental sustainability should be prioritised through responsible tourism practices, such as reducing waste and energy consumption. The National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development has published booklets and collections on pilgrimage tourism, such as "Orthodox Pilgrimage to Georgia" and "Georgia for the Jewish Travelers". These publications serve as reference materials for tourists, but are of limited use to guides and the general public. The Batumi Synagogue, for example, was built in 1904 by the Jewish community of Batumi and ceased operations in 1929. These publications can serve as reference materials and should be supplemented with additional materials to better understand the sustainable development of tourism in Adjara. In 1993, the Batumi Synagogue was returned to the Jewish community after being illegally installed by European Jews. The government postponed the project three times, and the Jews turned to the rabbi of Kutaisi for help. The article presents and analyses the sustainability of tourism in the context of post-COVID-19 conditions in Adjara, examines the ethnocultural characteristics of some ethnic groups living in Georgia, and proposes a model route for pilgrimage tourism for tour operators. The characteristics of the creation of an atlas of ethnovisual tourism based on field research, video monitoring of ethno-cultural values and the main sources for structuring cartographic material are also described. The article examines the dynamics of tourism development trends in Adjara, their probable estimates and prospects, which will be of interest not only to tourists and guides, but also to stakeholders interested in inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations, as well as to the scientific community. The research task was to analyse the sustainability of tourism in Adjara, focusing on the ethno-cultural characteristics of Georgian ethnic groups, and to offer a model pilgrimage tourism route for tour operators. The main objective was to predict future development and define trends. The research methodology includes interviews, stories, video monitoring, statistical forecasting technical tools and moving average tools. In conclusion, the interests of the ethno-spiritual culture of a multiethnic society in terms of sustainable tourism development and economic prospects are substantiated with the help of a video atlas, and an original tourist product in the form of an ethno-tourist video atlas is created. Video monitoring of ethno-cultural values allows capturing traditional elements of everyday life, material culture, social and family life, and spiritual culture.

Tamta Kartsivadze E-mail: tamta.kartsivadze@bsu.edu.ge PHD Student, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Batumi, Georgia https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8579-5348 Abstract. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a connecting link between the organization and the society. Social responsibility is a concept that involves improving economic, social and cultural environment and solving problems that are directly or indirectly caused by business activity. Corporate social responsibility has already become a fast-growing modern trend and a common form of doing business. Nowadays, the number of companies that are active in the direction of social responsibility is increasing. They express goodwill and their main goal is not only to make a profit, but also to have a positive impact on the working, natural and social environment. The term "corporate social responsibility" was first coined in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Over the decades, its concept has been clarified, the fields and types of activity have been outlined. Initially, its definition was vague and general. Issues, such as environmental activities, protection of human and consumer rights have gradually entered the scope of CSR due to the actualization of the mentioned issue. The main basis for the spread of CSR in developed countries is a powerful business sector and a high level of public or local community awareness. So, social responsibility is widely implemented in highly industrialized Western countries. In addition to social goals, CSR is used as a marketing tool to gain competitive advantage in the marketplace in case of increased competition. Despite the steps taken in this direction in Georgia, this social institution has not been fully formed. Georgian companies are not aware of the importance of social responsibility and the need to implement it in practice. CSR, as a tool for sustainable development and effective communication, plays an important role in the development process of the business sector. Due to the actuality of the topic, the demand for CSR from customers, employees and investors is increasing in Georgia, which leads to the need to study social responsibility in depth. This article discusses the essence of social responsibility of business as a contemporary philosophy, its functions and areas of implementation. Also, the article examines the current situation in Georgia regarding the mentioned issue, characterizes and analyzes the parties involved in the corporate social responsibility on the example of Georgia. Attention is focused on contemporary challenges of CSR and the necessary recommendations for addressing these challenges are formulated.

Alignment with Europe has been a popular foreign policy objective among post-socialist nations. In the Republic of Georgia, discourse surrounding the country's Euro-Atlantic orientation surged in the decade after the 2003 Rose Revolution. While such discourse has been examined in the context of political reforms and national security goals, this article foregrounds how it was incorporated into alterations of the built environment. Focusing on the urban transformations of the city of Batumi after the rise to power of the United National Movement government, it demonstrates how architecture served as a tool for selectively rewriting Georgia's contemporary European identity. This article concentrates on two parallel initiatives to transform Batumi into a contemporary European city: the reconstruction of portions of the Old City and the new development along the seaside boulevard. Using evidence collected through qualitative methods, it further highlights the contradictions that emerged during this process of redevelopment and rebranding, as the state balanced initiatives for new development with other post-revolutionary state-building objectives, such as political reform and tourism-market production. Accordingly, it unpacks the various national and international politico-economic forces at play in the process of developing Batumi into the image of a contemporary European city.

Irma Chkhaidze E-mail: chkhaidze.irma@bsu.edu.ge Associate Professor, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Batumi, Georgia https://orcid.org/000-0003-4430-181X Abstract. This article explores the efficacy of the Agile method in managing business projects, which enables companies to attain a competitive edge and sustain dynamic capabilities amidst rapidly evolving global circumstances. The article focuses on the "Agile" transformation, which is identified as a key priority for companies facing unpredictable changes in both the global context and in Georgia. This transformation is being implemented gradually, in line with contemporary challenges, and involves reshaping the hierarchical structure of organizations and redistributing functions based on employees' abilities, with the goal of creating professional teams. Consequently, the study aims to develop a strategy for efficient project management in Georgian companies and explore effective ways to implement it. The research findings uncovered the primary obstacles to companies transitioning to the method of rapid management of innovative business projects: challenges pertaining to organizational culture, resistance to change, lack of management support, unmotivated teams, and low skills among team members. The challenges associated with implementing the Agile methodology in the project management process were identified as follows: gaining competitiveness in the international and regional market, limited practical experience in IT Agile, and introducing innovations that do not align with user needs when using the waterfall method. The positive aspects of the rapid management of innovative business projects were assessed as follows: flexibility, customer collaboration, enhancement of goods and services through the implementation of short cycle processes, and incremental innovations aimed at meeting customer requirements. Through research, the alignment of the values of companies utilizing modern project management methods in Georgia with the principles of Agile project management was examined. These principles include teamwork, increased autonomy, high trust, customer feedback, enhanced adaptability to change, improved communication within and between teams, and the implementation of a results-oriented control process. The effectiveness of the Agile method was found to be contingent upon the development of a long-term motivational strategy. This strategy is based on two key factors: firstly, the creation and maintenance of a competent team, and secondly, ongoing collaboration with customers.
