Повний текст джерелаThis thesis explores the development of a transportable, ultra-narrow linewidth laser integrating a high-finesse Fabry-Pèrot cavity made from ultra-low expansion glass with optically contacted Fused Silica mirrors, aiming to minimize thermal and mechanical perturbations and enhance frequency stability. A novel digital frequency stabilization method using an FPGA-based platform is introduced, targeting a fractional frequency stability of 1e-1 5 at 1-second integration. This approach contrasts traditional analog systems by offering increased stability and reduced complexity. The study also examines several limitations of ultra stable lasers like phase noise, thermal noise etc. and several approaches to mitigate these type of noise. Additionally, an optical frequency dissemination system using FPGA-based phaselocked loops and optical fiber links is detailed, ensuring stable signal transmission over laboratory distances

Повний текст джерелаThis works deals with an integrated phase noise test bench for BAW resonators. The technology which has been used is the SiGe: C 0. 25 µm BiCMOS7RF process from ST Microelectronics. A current trend is to integrate testing facilities next to more or less complex circuits. The integrated test bench for measuring phase noise can relieve us of the constraints of external probing measurement and high cost. The simultaneous integration of the test circuit with the systems to measure also allows to fully exploiting component matching possibilities available on the same substrate. On-chip measurement greatly simplifies the testing process, minimizing the use of bulky external measurement equipment and high cost. It also allows following the system characteristic variations, in time or after various damages. This measure leads naturally to the design of self-testable, therefore self-reconfigurable, ICs. The goal of this thesis was to define the component architectures and the design of the integrated phase noise test bench, depending on the measurement accuracy. We show that this highly performance instrumentation system can be integrated in a standard SiGe technology

Повний текст джерелаCoherent Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry C-OFDR is used for the characterization of optical components with great dynamic range and sensitivity. This technique requires a coherent tunable laser source with an optical frequency swept linearly. Our work consists in studying the application of semiconductor laser as tunable source, by exploiting the chirp induced by the sawtooth or triangular modulation of the injection current. We characterize, theoretically and in simulation, the linearity and the amplitude of the variation in time of the chirp. The results obtained of the two approaches are in a good agreement. As application we measure, in simulation, Mach-Zehnder interferometer time delay, by using C-OFDR based on DFB laser source under sawtooth and triangular direct modulation. We theoretically calculated the power density of C-OFDR beat signal by taking into account the noise terms, in the case of BH and DFB lasers, deduced from the resolution of laser rate equations

Повний текст джерелаFiber optics constitutes an attractive alternative to conventional wiring for numerous analog applications. Indeed, in addition to its small size and low mass, the fiber does not interfere with electronic devices and provides an excellent isolation of the transmitted signal. One of the targeted application of our work is the reference frequency signal distribution to various subsystems of a telecommunications satellite. Another applications could be remote antenna synchronization and control and the access to the various elements of an active antenna. However, to meet our system requirements, the fiber optics link should not degrade the signal quality, and particularly its phase noise. To this purpose, the optically synchronized oscillator is an efficient approach which naturally filters the signal far from the carrier, thus removing the additional noise due to the optical link. Moreover, an optically controlled oscillator delivers a constant output power, which is an interesting feature for a reference frequency delivering network. Different types of optically synchronized oscillators may be investigated. The simplest one uses a conventional photodiode to detect the amplitude modulated optical signal, and the resulting microwave signal is used in a classical injection lock of a microwave oscillator. In this first case, we speak about an indirect optically synchronized oscillator. Another possibility is to realize the oscillator with a transistor sensitive to the optical power (photo-transistor) and thus to control directly the oscillator amplifying element. In this second case we speak about a direct optically synchronized oscillator. .

Повний текст джерелаLitterature review showed the conventional concentration probes are now limited both in size and frequency cutoff. Fluorescence spectroscopy seemed promising. Theoretical basis and applications study explain how it can provide spectral, spatial and temporal resolution indispensable to improve local concentration measurements. Difficulties when studying the elements of the experimental setup are described with their complete adjustments. Characteristic electrical and mechanical noises and corresponding remedies, when existing, are give. The absorption-emission stochastic process involved by the fluorescence of the tracer appears to depend on a Poisson statistic : direct proportionality no more exists between local concentration and measured signal. But relationships between their statistical properties have been established, with the corresponding signal processing only able to eliminate the superimposed random noise pollution. The mixing of two feed streams in a standard continuous stirred tank, one with the fluorescent tracer, the other without, results in a turbulent fluctuating concentration field, used to validate the sensor. Theoretical predictions for the signal processing appear to be relevant. Effects of position, stirring speed, mean residence time and viscosity were studied on local intensity of segregation, spectral density functions, power dissipation spectra and autocorrelations. Minimum values for stirring speed or mean residence time seem to exist, above which fluctuations are no more detectable. Dimensionless reduced spectra take a unique shape, as predicted by the turbulence theory. Viscosity, while increasing segregation, seems no to influence spectra because the Schmidt number was probably not modified. Perpectives of improvement are suggested
