We present a formulation for the effect of the osmotic pressure of the soil solution on the availability of soil water for plant uptake in the extreme case that the reflection coefficient of root-cell walls is always unity. We also present a new equation to fit the water retention curve, which allows for an inflection point and is solidly anchored at both the wet end (saturated water content) and the dry end (water content at 150 m head, the permanent wilting point). By differentiating the fitting-equation one finds the differential water capacity, which is subsequently multiplied by a weighting function to account for the impediment caused by soluble salts. The weighted differential water capacity is then integrated over the entire range of the matric head from zero to infinity. This produces the integral water capacity and constitutes the total amount of water the soil can hold and release to a hypothetical plant that behaves like a perfect osmometer. We illustrate the approach using data found in the literature for a wide range of soil textures. In this paper the lower boundary of water availability in the presence of soluble salts is defined and calculated as would be registered by a perfect osmometer (reflection coefficient of unity). The upper boundary of water availability is found by setting the weighting coefficient at unity at all times, which implies a reflection coefficient of zero, and in turn that the salts in the soil solution have no influence on the availability of water (as would be registered by a tensiometer). The upper and the lower boundaries constitute the envelope within which the actual availability of water to real plants occurs, and implies a variable reflection coefficient plus the occurrence of active plant osmo-regulation. This establishes a framework within which water availability to real plants experiencing real osmo-matric conditions can be evaluated.

The paper is dedicated to the improvement of the evaluation methods of one of the most important operating characteristics of gas compression units (GCUs), i.e. dependability, under the conditions of decreasing pipeline utilization rate. Currently, the dependability of units is characterized by a set of parameters based on the identification of the time spent by a unit in certain operational state. The paper presents the primary findings regarding the dependability coefficients of GPA-Ts-18 units, 41 of which are operated in multi-yard compressor stations (CSs) of one of Gazprom’s subsidiaries. The dependability indicators (technical state coefficient, availability coefficient, operational availability coefficient) identified as part of the research are given as well. GCUs were classified into groups depending on the coefficient values. The feasibility of using integral indicators in the analysis of GCU groups’ dependability was examined. It was proposed to use confidence intervals for identification of the integral level of dependability of the operated GCU stock and the ways of maintaining the operability of units under the conditions of decreasing main gas pipeline utilization rate. The Gini index was suggested for the purpose of generalized estimation of GCU groups’ dependability. It is shown that the advantage of the Gini coefficient is that is allows taking into account the ranks of the analyzed features in groups. The graphic interpretation of the findings was executed with a Lorenz curve. The paper implements the sigma rule that characterizes the probability of the actual coefficient value being within the confidence interval, i.e. prediction limits (upper and lower), within which the actual values will fall with a given probability. The confidence intervals were identified by the type of coefficients distribution and a standard deviation, ć. A histogram of an interval range of technical utilization coefficient distribution is given as an example. Testing of the hypothesis of the distribution type at confidence level 0.95 showed that the distribution of coefficients is normal. Using the moment method, the mathematical expectation and mean square deviation for the distribution of the values of each type of dependability indicators were established. Using the sigma rule, all extreme outliers among the GCUs in terms of the level of factor attribute were excluded from the body of input data. All units whose factor attribute value does not fall in the interval were excluded. According to the three sigma rule, 3 and 2 GCUs did not fall in the confidence interval (µ±3σ) in terms of the utilization factor and availability factor respectively. The performed analysis of causes of low availability coefficients of the above GCUs showed that the systems had been long in maintenance. The paper sets forth summary data on the maximum allowable value of the Gini index of dependability coefficients (CTU, CA, COA) depending on the sample size (the complete sample of 41 units and samples with the interval of 1, 2, 3 sigma). In case of higher values of Gini index it is recommended to adopt measures to individual units in order to improve the dependability of the operated GCU stock.

Granular calcined magnesites originating from Spain, China and Greece and magnesium hydroxide powder were evaluated in a series of balance experiments conducted with wether sheep (c. 42 kg liveweight) given a basal ration of dried grass at Glasgow University Veterinary School between 1989 and 1994. Four Spanish ‘Agma’ products and three Spanish ‘Navarras’ products contained less material (0–104 g/kg)>1000 μm diameter than four Chinese and four Greek materials 178–483 g/kg). The Spanish products had lower (18–45 g/kg) losses on ignition compared with the Chinese and Greek materials (53–112 g/kg). A fifth Greek product contained only 4 g/kg>1000 μm diameter. In three experiments comparing supplementation of the basal diet with 2·0 g Mg as either magnesium hydroxide or as one of the three separate purchases of the commercial calcined magnesite sources, the powdered magnesium hydroxide had the highest mean apparent availability coefficient (0·30) (faecal increase method). The corresponding values were 0·24 (Agma and Navarras), 0·20 (Chinese) and 0·15 (Greek) (pooled s.e. 0·014, d.f. 10). Powdered magnesium hydroxide also had the highest (0·18) mean availability coefficient (urinary increase method) compared with 0·12 (Agma), 0·13 (Navarras), 0·14 (Chinese), 0·10 (Greek) (pooled s.e. 0·005, d.f. 10). In two subsequent experiments, Agma had a superior apparent availability coefficient (0·26) (faecal method) than either the Chinese (0·14) or the Greek materials (0·19). A finer grade of Greek calcined magnesite (0·25) was equivalent to Agma. For the 12 calcined magnesites evaluated in the three main experiments, significant (P<0·05) correlations (r) were found between the magnesium availability coefficient (faecal method) and loss on ignition (−0·65); particle size proportions (<250 μm, 0·59; and >1000 μm, −0·65) and tended towards significance for rumen solubility in 24 μm nylon bags in hay-fed cows over two days (r=0·54, P=0·07) and rate of reaction with citric acid (0·57, P=0·055). No correlations were found with magnesium availability coefficients (urinary increase method). This confirms the limitations of both in vitro predictions and in vivo (faecal) estimates of magnesium availability for different calcined magnesites. The mean magnesium availability coefficient (faeces) of the 17 calcined magnesites was 0·21 (s.d. 0·05). If this were to be confirmed by other observations, it would have implications for the amounts of dietary calcined magnesite required to meet recommended dietary magnesium allowances for ruminants.

This work is aimed at forecasting justification of the failure time of the 6—10 kV overhead electric lines (OEL) during the normalized period in its operation based on comparison with the statistics of failures and reconditionings on the previous intervals with the use of the OEL availability function, statistical availability coefficient, normalized forecasting interval and the accepted values of the availability coefficient on the forecasting interval. To achieve the goal set the OEL is described as an object of a multiple action, its failure and reconditioning flows are accepted as the simplest Poisson, and for the theoretical analysis of the variation character in the availability coefficient, the probability theory methods along with a mass service were used. The most significant result is justification of the use for the forecasting of the OEL failure time of a new convenient exponential expression of its availability function on the normalized period of time being forecasted. Unlike the accepted in the theory of reliability the availability function with two parameters T and Tr.av (average times of work and reconditionings), the proposed expression uses one parameter of distribution (virtual non-failure operating time). The significance of the results obtained consists in that controlling the dynamics of the variation in the statistical coefficient of availability of the OEL on the previous time intervals makes it possible to forecast its failure time during the forthcoming normalized periods of operation.

The effect of oxygen availability on theophylline metabolism by mouse hepatocytes and rat isolated livers was examined. The elimination of theophylline by mouse hepatocytes and the metabolism of theophylline to dimethyluric acid by isolated, perfused rat livers was seriously impaired when the gas mixture supplied contained less than 28% oxygen. The correlation coefficients relating oxygen supply and the concentration of theophylline remaining in mouse hepatocyte suspensions were −0.74 to −0.84. In the isolated, perfused rat liver experiments, the correlation coefficient relating oxygen availability and dimethyluric acid production was 0.87. These observations are interpreted as supporting the hypothesis that oxygen availability per se is an important factor in determining the rate of theophylline metabolism.

This study aimed to determine the effect of fleet availability and control on the smooth delivery of PT. Cardig Logistics Indonesia. The survey method is used as a way to collect primary data. The population is taken from employees who work in the operational section and get a sample of 30 people. The writer used a descriptive statistical analysis method, multiple linear regression, correlation coefficient, determination coefficient, or determination to test the research hypothesis to conduct this research. The results showed that the availability of the fleet (X1) and controlling (X2) on the smooth delivery (Y) of PT. Cardig Logistics Indonesia has a positive and significant effect. From the research result, the more dominant is the variable of fleet availability.

An assessment of the economic availability of direct oral anticoagulants for COVID-19 outpatient treatment was carried out. For each anticoagulant, the average cost of the package and treatment course were determined, the coefficients of availability in relation to the average wage and the minimum living wage were calculated. Based on the results of the study, an ABC analysis was carried out. The costs of dabigatran, apixaban and rivaroxaban were found to be in category A (high cost) in relation to the minimum living wage. The most accessible of the investigated anticoagulants is apixaban 5 mg in a package of 60 tablets, the coefficient of availability of this drug in relation to the average wage was 21.7, in relation to the living wage – 66.1. The low availability of anticoagulants for the course treatment of COVID-19 in outpatient settings justifies the need for the formation of drug programs for COVID-19 outpatient with at the expense of the federal budget.

This study aimed to determine the factors affected the soybean availability in Indonesia. This study used secondary data obtained from FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization), World Bank, and the Ministry of Finance. In this study, the data from 1964 to 2013 used to determine the factors affected soybean availability in Indonesia . The Error Correction Model (ECM) was used to determine the factors affected soybean availability. The results showed that (1) the data were stationary at first difference; (2) the data used co-integrated means long-term parameters; (3) ECT coefficient was 0.846 (significant at α = 5%) indicated the model used was valid. Soybean availability in Indonesia in the short term was positively influenced by the total planted area, total soybean consumption, and soybean import tariffs. In the long term, soybean availability in Indonesia was positively influenced by the total planted area, productivity of soybean, domestic soybean prices, soybean consumption, and rupiah exchange rate to dollar. In the long-term, availability of soybeans was negatively affected by the price of imported soybean.

Karst watersheds are often treated as non-karst watersheds that can lead to several hazards. Hence, how do karst watersheds differ from non-karst watersheds and what are the effects of karstification on groundwater availability and quality? In this study, we contrast between a karst and non-karst watershed by elucidating their geomorphological peculiarities and potential impact on spatio-temporal availability and quality of groundwater. GIS morphometric mapping and hydrograph recession analysis are applied to map the watershed features and estimate hydrograph recession coefficient to define the groundwater drainage characteristics as well as the influence of karst drainage attributes (KDA). Furthermore, we characterize streamflow components based on the hydrograph recession limbs (segments) and infer their contributing geomorphological factors. Results show that the karst watershed has higher recession coefficients for successive recession limbs. Consequently, it drains larger volumes of groundwater primarily due to the KDAs, which transmit interflow and groundwater flow more rapidly through large cavities to springs as well as stream channels. The KDAs generate what we term karst drainage flow (KDF), defined by the second recession limb which has high recession coefficient as the first limb (overland flow) and strongly contrasts with the non-karst watershed from visual and ANOVA analysis. The effect is that karst aquifer yield over time is significantly lower and highly exposed to pollution compared to the non-karst aquifer. Consequently, sustainable water management practices should be adopted to ensure the availability and safety of groundwater reserves.

The paper evaluates the climatic conditions in order to organize the restoration of protective forest strips on the territory of the Pervomaysky district of the Republic of Crimea. The following indicators were analyzed and mapped: the wind regime of the territory (wind direction, speed, repeatability); heat and moisture availability of the territory (precipitation for various periods, average and total temperature values for months and periods, moisture coefficients of the territory (Selyaninov hydrothermal coefficient (SCC), Budyko dryness index and Sukachev coefficient (CS). On their basis, climatopes of forest belts are compiled. The presented data and certain climatic parameters are used to determine the design features of forest belts within the areas under consideration. The amount of data provided is sufficient in accordance with the guidelines for the design of protective forest stands to assess the meso-climatic conditions of the survey area.

Abstract The comprehensive large-scale assessment of future available water resources is crucial for food security in countries dealing with water shortages like Iran. Kerman province, located in the south east of Iran, is an agricultural hub and has vital importance for food security. This study attempts to project the impact of climate change on available water resources of this province and then, by defining different scenarios, to determine the amount of necessary reduction in cultivation areas to achieve water balance over the province. The GFDL-ESM2M climate change model, RCP scenarios, and the CCT (Climate Change Toolkit) were used to project changes in climatic variables, and the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was used for hydrological simulation. The future period for which forecasts are made is 2020–2050. Based on the coefficient of determination (R2) and Nash–Sutcliffe coefficient, the CCT demonstrates good performance in data downscaling. The results show that under all climate change scenarios, most parts of the province are likely to experience an increase in precipitation yet to achieve water balance a 10% decrease in the cultivation area is necessary under the RCP8.5 scenario. The results of the SWAT model show that green water storage in central and western parts of the province is higher than that in other parts.

Current soil and surface data are not detailed enough to obtain accurate analyses of cross-country movement. The reason for the research presented in this article was the absence of a methodology for the synthetic assessment of the influence of the terrain surface on the movement of military vehicles. The study is based on analyses of data and information sources of soils and surface conditions primarily with the aim to determine their reliability, availability and precision when used for analyses of terrain traversability by off-road vehicles. The key method to achieve the set objective is the employment of tractive charts of military vehicles and utilized coefficients, the coefficient of rolling resistance and the coefficient of adhesion. Input data and information is tested with a comparative method of cross-country movement analyses. Conversion of soil and surface types to tractive chart coefficients is currently not optimal. For the most part, evaluation of soil type is very inaccurate with a wide range of possible values. Results of the analysis propose developing a methodology of evaluating surface and soils for vehicle traversability.

Purpose: To adapt and validate a survey instrument to assess the nutrition environment of grab-and-go establishments at a university campus. Methods: A version of the Nutrition Environment Measures Survey for grab-and-go establishments (NEMS-GG) was adapted from existing NEMS instruments and tested for reliability and validity through a cross-sectional assessment of the grab-and-go establishments at the University of Toronto. Product availability, price, and presence of nutrition information were evaluated. Cohen’s kappa coefficient and intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) were assessed for inter-rater reliability, and construct validity was assessed using the known-groups comparison method (via store scores). Results: Fifteen grab-and-go establishments were assessed. Inter-rater reliability was high with an almost perfect agreement for availability (mean κ = 0.995) and store scores (ICC = 0.999). The tool demonstrated good face and construct validity. About half of the venues carried fruit and vegetables (46.7% and 53.3%, respectively). Regular and healthier entrée items were generally the same price. Healthier grains were cheaper than regular options. Six establishments displayed nutrition information. Establishments operated by the university’s Food Services consistently scored the highest across all food premise types for nutrition signage, availability, and cost of healthier options. Conclusions: Health promotion strategies are needed to address availability and variety of healthier grab-and-go options in university settings.

Background: There is growing evidence supporting the use of mobile health apps for the management of diabetes. Given the disproportionate impact of diabetes on Latinos, especially those with limited English proficiency (LEP) and low literacy, diabetes apps have the potential to address existing health disparities. Our study aimed to understand the current accessibility of diabetes apps for these populations. Methods: We searched the Android and iOS stores for the term “diabetes” to identify patient-facing diabetes apps. We reviewed the app store descriptions and user interfaces for Spanish availability. We assessed the readability of the descriptions in English and Spanish using the Lexile Analyzer and the Flesch-Kincaid Reading Grade Level. Results: Overall, in reviewing both app stores, 30% (28/92) of apps had descriptions available in Spanish, of which 41% (18/44) of Android apps were available in Spanish and 21% (10/48) iOS apps were available in Spanish. In addition, the readability of 94% (90/96) for the app store descriptions was above the recommended reading level for patient education material in English and Spanish. The overall kappa coefficient for app translation quality assessment was .72, reflecting moderate interrater agreement. Conclusions: Despite the evidence supporting the use of diabetes apps, they do not cater to the language needs of LEP Latino patients.

ABSTRACT In regions where the irrigated area is increasing and water availability is reduced, such as the West of the Bahia state, Brazil, the use of techniques that contribute to improving water use efficiency is paramount. One of the ways to improve irrigation is by improving the calculation of actual evapotranspiration (ETa), which among other factors is influenced by soil drying, so it is important to understand this relationship, which is usually accounted for in irrigation management models through the water stress coefficient (Ks). This study aimed to estimate the water stress coefficient (Ks) through information obtained via remote sensing, combined with field data. For this, a study was carried out in the municipality of São Desidério, an area located in western Bahia, using images of the Landsat-8 satellite. Ks was calculated by the relationship between crop evapotranspiration and ETa, calculated by the Simple Algorithm for Evapotranspiration Retrieving (SAFER). The Ks estimated by remote sensing showed, for the development and medium stages, average errors on the order of 5.50%. In the final stage of maize development, the errors obtained were of 23.2%.

Availability is one of the most used terms in maintainability engineering. This concept is used to denote: The quality of service of an engineering system, i.e., machines, weak points’ analysis, asset management, as well as making decisions in the process of life cycle management. Availability is an overall indicator and contains partial indicators that are oriented towards reliability, maintenance, and logistical support. Availability presents a variable value and changes in time and space. Usually, availability is shown as the coefficient of time use of the machine. This approach is not good enough because it does not go into the structure of the availability itself and requires a high level of IT support in system monitoring. In this sense, this paper will use the fuzzy theory and the corresponding analytic hierarchy process (AHP) multi-criteria analysis to present a conceptual and mathematical model for the assessment of availability based on expert judgment. The model will be shown in the case study (on the example) of bulldozers working in the open-pit lignite mine.

The availability of organizational resources and the degree of internationalization of furniture companies - the empirical research findings. The article presents the results of empirical research carried out in 100 medium and large furniture companies. The availability of organizational resources was assessed in the group of furniture manufacturers using the Likert scale. The respondents indicated that the highest availability, taking into account the average score for all surveyed companies, was obtained in the case of financial and material resources. It should be emphasized, however, that the remaining categories of resources were also characterized by a relatively high level of availability. The differences were noticed in the groups of enterprises considering the degree of internationalization. The highest availability of all resources was indicated by respondents from companies operating mainly in foreign markets. Moreover, the relationship between the level of availability of organizational resources and the degree of internationalization of the surveyed enterprises was checked. For this purpose, the Spearman's rho correlation coefficient was used. Such a relationship was confirmed in the case of human resources and information resources. The research shows that higher availability of the indicated resources occurs in enterprises showing a greater degree of involvement in foreign activities.

Inter-Island transportation support the links for various goods delivery and the availability of commodities among islands throughout Indonesia. When the scarcity of a commodity exists in one island beause of the delay of goods arrival sechedule, the price of the commodity will rise up and inflation rate can also increase. Therefore, this research investigates the influence of some internal and external factors: unit ship’s call (X1), DWT ship’s call (X2), inflation (X3), and loading-unloading tariff (X4) towards load volume of general cargo (Y) in Tanjung Perak port, Surabaya.And the results are concluded that loading-unloading tariff is influenced strongly with the investigated variables: X1 with regression coefficient by 361.105; X2 with regression coefficient by 0.020; X3 with regression coefficient by 2765.239; and X4 with regression coefficient by 24.854.

The objective of this work was to evaluate changes in the photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) interception efficiency and PPFD extinction coefficient for maize crop subjected to different soil tillage systems and water availability levels. Crops were subjected to no-tillage and conventional tillage systems combined with full irrigation and non-irrigation treatments. Continuous measurements of transmitted PPFD on the soil surface and incoming PPFD over the canopy were taken throughout the crop cycle. Leaf area index and soil water potential were also measured during the whole period. Considering a mean value over the maize cycle, intercepted PPFD was higher in the conventional tillage than in the no-tillage system. During the initial stages of plants, intercepted PPFD in the conventional tillage was double the PPFD interception in the no-tillage treatment. However, those differences were reduced up to the maximum leaf area index, close to tasseling stage. The lowest interception of PPFD occurred in the conventional tillage during the reproductive period, as leaf senescence progressed. Over the entire crop cycle, the interception of PPFD by the non-irrigated plants was about 20% lower than by the irrigated plants. The no-tillage system reduced the extinction coefficient for PPFD, which may have allowed a higher penetration of solar radiation into the canopy

OBJECTIVE: To develop and assess the reliability of an instrument that enables auditing information on consumer food environment indicators, such as availability, price, promotional and advertising strategies, and quantity of brands available, using the food recommendations adopted by the Dietary Guidelines for the Brazilian Population as a theoretical basis. METHODS: This is a methodological study in two phases: 1. development of the audit instrument and 2. assessment of its reliability and reproducibility. The Content Validity Index was estimated for each instrument item (>0.80 satisfactory). Inter-rater and test-retest reliability were assessed by percentage agreement and Kappa coefficients. Pearson’s correlation coefficient and Scatter-plots were used to measure the degree of linear correlation between two quantitative variables. RESULTS: The Content Validity Index was 0.91. Inter-rater and test-retest reliability were mostly high (Kappa> 0.80), for food availability indicators. Among the items that measure advertising, Kappa values for inter-rater reliability ranged from 0.57 to 1.00 and for the test-retest ranged from 0.18 to 0.90. Prices and quantity of brands showed a positive linear correlation between measurements performed by researcher 1 and 2 and between visits 1 and 2. CONCLUSIONS: AUDITNOVA is reliable for measuring aspects such as availability, price, quantity of brands, and advertising of foods available in the consumer food environment.

This study aims to identify the areas of sustainable development that should be included in the textbooks of Prophetic Sayings (Hadeeth) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to determine the degree of availability, and to find out if there are statistically significant differences at (α≤0.05) in the degree of availability. The descriptive analytical method was used to analyze the whole study population. Cooper coefficient of stability, frequencies, and percentages were used to analyze the results and measure the degree of availability of these fields. Chi Square equation was also used to measure the differences between the availability of fields among grades. The social field was firstly ranked with a percentage of 78.16%, and a total of 433 frequencies, while the environmental field followed it with a percentage of 6.98% and a total of 37 frequencies. The paper showed that there were statistically significant differences in the inclusion in Chi equation.

Waste is still a problem in major cities in Indonesia. The high production of waste is not proportional to the availability of the landfill (TPA). The land use plans for waste landfill by local governments have conflict potential between government and community when such infrastructure facilities are not desired by the community. Environmental conflicts/disputes can be resolved through mediation mechanisms. This research uses linear regression modeling system to see the correlation between the amount of waste volume generated with the availability of landfill (TPA) in Central Java Province. The results showed the greater the number of residents the greater the volume of waste generated. In contrast the number of available landfill (TPA) is not affected by the volume of waste because the regression coefficient is only 0.0256.

Abstract In the paper the possibilities of process re-organizing in relation to simple principles for limiting waste in the production cycle have been presented. Based on value stream mapping and monitoring of performance indicators, the possibilities of changes identification of in the assembly line process have been presented. Furthermore, based on the availability, performance and quality values, it has been proved that relatively small changes can have a very positive effect on the assembly process. Based on the OEE coefficient, it has been found that the proposed changes improved the process's efficiency by more than 20%.

At this critical juncture of time when the whole world is facing a health care emergency due to the occurrence of (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic. It becomes necessary to critically evaluate public health care facilities and their availability to common people to tackle the ongoing crisis rationally. In this regard, this paper tries to study the spatial distribution of public health care facilities and their availability in rural areas of Nalanda district. Location quotient, Lorenz curve and Gini's coefficient have been worked out to find unequal concentration, availability and distribution of public health care facilities across the study area. To show the concentration and distribution of health care facilities over space maps have been drawn on ArcGIS. MS Excel and Word have been used for showing the availability of health care facilities through graphical representation and for tabulation purposes. This paper concludes that community development blocks surrounding district headquarter have a higher concentration and larger availability of rural public health care facilities in comparison to peripheral community development blocks of the study area.

The present study uses the aerosol optical depth (AOD) obtained from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite as a proxy to estimate the surface particulate matter (PM) concentrations over Sumatra. The daily average PM10 data collected during 2015 from three air quality stations across Sumatra, i.e., Kototabang, Jambi and Pekanbaru, were analyzed. The 2015 Indonesian forest fire significantly increased the PM10 concentrations and MODIS AOD values. The ratios of the mean PM10 concentrations and AOD values during the peak forest fire period to those during the period of normal conditions varied from 6 to 9. MODIS AOD may be a good indicator of the near-surface PM10 concentrations over Sumatra, as the correlation coefficients of the linear regressions were 0.86 (Kototabang), 0.80 (Jambi), and 0.81 (Pekanbaru). The linear regression functions of PM10 and satellite-observed AOD can be used to estimate the surface PM10 concentrations, and the correlation coefficient is 0.84.

A field experiment lasting 37 years was conducted to evaluate the applications of different rates of pig manure and mineral fertilisers alone or in combination impacts on total phosphorus (P<sub>total</sub>) and Olsen phosphorus (P<sub>Olsen</sub>) contents and phosphorus activity coefficient (PAC, percentage of P<sub>Olsen</sub> to P<sub>total</sub>) within soil water-stable aggregates (WSA) in a Mollisol of Northeast China. The contents of P<sub>total</sub> and P<sub>Olsen</sub> associated with different size classes of WSA significantly (P &lt; 0.05) increased with an increasing rate of applied P. The application of manure alone or combined with mineral fertilisers significantly increased PAC value associated with different size classes of WSA. There were positive correlations between P<sub>total</sub> and P<sub>Olsen</sub> contents with soil organic carbon (SOC) content within soil WSA. As SOC content increased 1 g/kg, P<sub>total</sub> and P<sub>Olsen</sub> contents increased 0.06–0.10 g/kg and 7.69–22.2 mg/kg, respectively, and the increase was larger in smaller size classes of WSA. The results suggested that a high manure rate combined with mineral fertilisers is more beneficial for increasing soil phosphorus content and availability. SOC is a vital factor controlling phosphorus content and availability within soil WSA.

This paper presents four refined distance models to the application of forecasting short-term electricity price namely Euclidean norm, Manhattan distance, cosine coefficient, and Pearson correlation coefficient. The four refined models were constructed and used to select the days, which are like a reference day in electricity prices and loads, called similar days in this study. Using the similar days, the electricity prices of a forecast day were further obtained by similar day regression (SDR) and similar day based artificial neural network (SDANN). The simulation results of the case of the PJM (Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland) interchange energy market indicate the superiority and availability of the selection 45 framework days and three similar days based on Pearson correlation coefficient model.

Abstract. The availability of the actual water use from agricultural crops is considered as the key factor for irrigation water management, water resources planning, and water allocation. Traditionally, evapotranspiration (ET) has been estimated in the Gezira scheme by multiplying the reference evapotranspiration (ETo) by crop coefficient (kc) which is derived from the phenomenological crop stages. Recently, advanced developed energy balance models assist to estimate ET through remotely sensed data. In this study Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) images were used to estimate spatial distribution of daily, monthly and seasonal ET for irrigated sorghum in the Gezira scheme, Sudan. The daily ET maps were also used to estimate kc over time and space. Results of remotely sensed based energy balance were compared with actual measurements conducted during 2004/05 season. The daily actual ET values estimated using the energy balance model during the satellite acquisition dates (28 July, 29 August, 16 October and 17 November) were 4.7, 5.5, 7.1 and 2.7 mm/day, while the average seasonal evapotranspiration for irrigated sorghum estimated to be around 596 mm. The remotely estimated kc values in the initial, crop development, mid-season and late-season stages were 0.62, 0.85, 1.15, and 0.48 respectively. On the other hand the widely used tradition kc values during the pervious mention stages are 0.55, 0.94, 1.21 and 0.65, respectively. This research shows that remotely sensed measurements can help objectively analyzed the irrigation water requirement for different field crops on daily and seasonal time step. Moreover, the remotely sensed real-time data availability provides the system managers with information that not previously available.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine crop evapotranspiration through the soil water balance, the crop coefficient and water use efficiency of the onion (Allium cepa L.) in a system with four irrigation regimes, cultivated in the semiarid region of northeastern Brazil. Two field experiments were carried out during the rainy and dry periods of the region in 2018, using the treatments of 100% (T1), 75% (T2), 50% (T3) and 25% (T4) of the reference evapotranspiration for daily water replacement and five replicates for each treatment. It was verified that crop evapotranspiration varies according to the water availability in the soil; however, the highest water use efficiency occurred for the T3 treatment. The T1 treatment obtained the highest estimated yield, 43.86 tons ha-1, while T4 obtained 13.47 tons ha-1, the lowest estimated yield among the treatments, and this difference was statistically significant (p ≤ 0.05) by F test. The crop coefficients obtained were 0.68, 0.89, 0.99 and 0.73 for the initial, vegetative, bulbing and maturation stages, respectively.

In the paper there is offered a method for the design evaluation of hardware reliability in communi-cations network elements in terms of standard values of its trunk structural reliability. To carry out a gener-alized assessment of communications equipment reliability in general and for the evaluation of network directions reliability there is considered such an index as availability. With the use of the procedure developed the design assessment of time between failures of southern, northern and western trunks in the telecommunications network at different kinds of equipment and a topology and also at different methods of maintenance works is carried out. The computations are carried out in terms of standard coefficients of readiness for existing networks and communications networks of the following generation without taking into account the influence of destabilizing factors. The assessment of the influence of time for reconstruction of communications facilities upon a coefficient of network trunks availability is fulfilled. The following options of maintenance works are considered: an existing choice when equipment failures at the places are eliminated by experts coming from a regional center; a choice providing for trunks obligatory reservation of communication channels up to each endpoint. On the basis of results obtained the conclusions on purposeful methods of maintenance to ensure standard values of readiness coefficients for existing networks and communication networks of the following generation are formulated.

Abstract A procedure is being tested in order to determine its suitability for assessing the intrinsic ability of the ground at a particular site to supply 222Rn to a basement structure to be built on the site. Soil gas is sucked from a borehole probe through an alpha scintillation chamber and flow meter by a pump. The permeability of the soil is calculated from the flow rate and the pressure difference between the atmosphere and the borehole at the intake point. The diffusion coefficient is estimated from the water fraction in the soil pores. The upward migration distance for radon in such soil during one mean life is computed from an arbitrary steady pressure difference. This mean migration distance, multiplied by the measured radon concentration, gives the 'radon availability number'. Measurements at sites of known indoor radon concentration suggest that numbers below 2 kBq.m-2 indicate litte chance of elevated indoor radon and above 20 kBq.m-2 indicate that elevated indoor radon is likely. The range of uncertainty and the point-to-point and seasonal variations to be expected are under investigation.

Watershed management with potential water resources greater than or equal to 20% of the potential of water resources in the province requires a device capable of addressing those needs. The Siak river area is a potential source of water resources greater than 20%. Until now, the Siak river area does not yet have an integrated water resource information system; thus information on the potency of water absorption cannot be adequately recorded. Prediction of water availability in watersheds has significance for the management of a watershed. The research aims to develop a hydrological model to strengthen the water availability information to complete the water availability information. The built model is a combination of a conceptual model with wavelet (hybrid model) that is wavelet-ihacres. The wavelet transform method has the advantage of decomposing and reconstructing the data to produce better predictions. The results showed that the combined wavelet-ihacres have a coefficient correlation between observation data and output model of 0.737. The value is classified as a strong correlation.

Electric vehicles may reduce greenhouse gas emissions from individual mobility. Due to the long charging times, accurate planning is necessary, for which the availability of charging infrastructure must be known. In this paper, we show how the occupation status of charging infrastructure can be predicted for the next day using machine learning models— Gradient Boosting Classifier and Random Forest Classifier. Since both are ensemble models, binary training data (occupied vs. available) can be used to provide a certainty measure for predictions. The prediction may be used to adapt prices in a high-load scenario, predict grid stress, or forecast available power for smart or bidirectional charging. The models were chosen based on an evaluation of 13 different, typically used machine learning models. We show that it is necessary to know past charging station usage in order to predict future usage. Other features such as traffic density or weather have a limited effect. We show that a Gradient Boosting Classifier achieves 94.8% accuracy and a Matthews correlation coefficient of 0.838, making ensemble models a suitable tool. We further demonstrate how a model trained on binary data can perform non-binary predictions to give predictions in the categories “low likelihood” to “high likelihood”.

Introduction: Given a wide range of pathogenesis of the inflammatory process in pyoderma, which involves a variety of links in the immune response, work is underway to find ways to optimize immunocorrection in this pathology. The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical and economic effectiveness of immunocorrection in severe and chronic forms of pyoderma with drugs from different pharmacological groups. Materials and methods: The data sources were prospective randomized comparative studies of therapy of 107 pyoderma patients aged 18 to 60 years, divided into groups. The patients of the first group additionally used a biologically active additive containing immunoactive molecules and transfer factors (TF) as an immunomodulator; the patients of the second group used glucosaminylmuramildipeptide (GMDP). The clinical effectiveness of regression of inflammatory symptoms on day 10 of treatment was analyzed. Based on the obtained data, the following types of pharmacoeconomical analysis were performed: calculation of the course price, the cost/effectiveness ratio, and the availability coefficient. Results and discussion: The results of the study showed that the number of cured patients was 91.4% in the first group and 97.2% in the second group of patients. The treatment cost when using the drug is by 970 rubles smaller; the cost/effectiveness ratio (CER) per patient was 1.8 higher for a drug containing transfer factors and amounted to 25.9. The calculation of the availability coefficient (AC) revealed a difference in glucosaminylmuramyldipeptide which was 2.1 times smaller. Conclusion: It was found that a drug based on glucosaminylmuramildipeptide is a more effective and cost-effective means of immunocorrection in severe forms of pyoderma. This confirms a faster regression of clinical manifestations of the disease and lower cost/effectiveness ratio and availability coefficient.

This research aimed to determine: (1) factors that affect domestic price of rice, (2) factors that affect the domestic rice availability, (3) domestic price stability of rice for 20 years (1993-2012), and (4) Influence of Market Operations domestic price stabilization. Descriptive analysis method was applied in this research. Secondary data were collected and analyzed with the sofware Eviews 4.0. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied by following the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method, instead of statistical inference of mean, coefficient of variation (CV), and simple linear correlation analysis. Results of analyses showed that domestic price of rice is positively influenced by the dummy of Raskin and negatively affected by domestic rice procurement. Domestic rice availability is positively influenced by the harvested area and the disparity of price. Based on statistical inference test and the coefficient of variation, the domestic price of rice for the last 20 years (1993-2012) was not stable. Simple linear correlation analysis showed that market operations of Bulog affect positively toward the stabilization of domestic price of rice.

The water consumption and the crop coefficient of the banana cv. Pacovan were estimated in Petrolina County, northeastern Brazil, in order to establish guidelines to irrigation water management. Evaluations were carried out since planting in January 1999 to the 3rd harvest in September 2001 on a microsprinkler irrigated orchard, with plants spaced in a 3 x 3 m grid. Average daily water consumption was 3.9, 4.0, and 3.3 mm in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd growing seasons, respectively. Crop coefficient values increased from 0.7 (vegetative growth) to 1.1 (flowering). Even with high soil water availability, transpiration was reduced due to high evaporative demand.

In this experiment we used brown forest soil that has been used in long-term experiments, for 30 years, with increasing doses of introduced nitrogen fertilizer in variants. In order to determine the quantities of nitrogen fertilizer required for wheat, a calculation model has been applied. This calculation requires not only a reliable method for determining soil nitrogen availability (both the total and easily hydrolyzed nitrogen method were used), but also a reliable method for determining the coefficient of nitrogen utilization from soil as well as data on the coefficient of nitrogen utilization from fertilizer (Nani) for the added quantities of nitrogen fertilizer.

Abstract To consider the problem of uneven distribution of water resources, a study on the relationship and trend of virtual water trade between regions based on an Multi-Regional Input-Output (MRIO) model was proposed. Using an MRIO model, the spatial distribution and changing trends of China's inter-regional virtual water trade from 2014 to 2019 were evaluated. The empirical results show that, due to the difference in water use efficiency and production processes in different sectors, the direct and indirect water use coefficients and demand coefficients are different in different regions. In some water-poor areas (regions with low water availability), more products with high water use coefficients are exported, while more water-rich areas (regions with high water availability) export products with lower water use coefficients. The inter-regional virtual water trade only alleviates the shortage of water resources in some poor water areas in China. Some poor water areas export a large amount of virtual water, and the rich water areas import a large amount of virtual water or only maintain a partial virtual water balance. However, the demand coefficient tends to increase, and the trade adjustment trends in different regions and changes in regional virtual water trade relations are not conducive to alleviating the shortage of water resources caused by uneven distribution. The tension coefficients between the food manufacturing and tobacco processing industry, the textile and clothing industry, and the wood processing and furniture manufacturing industries in the Northeast region are relatively large, with the demand coefficients are 92.9, 65.5 and 156.7 respectively. Relatively speaking, the tensile coefficients of areas rich in natural water resources such as the eastern coastal, southern coastal, southwest, and central areas are generally low. According to the production situation, the regional virtual water trade relationship should be adjusted from the level of the national master plan.

A field trial with potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) was conducted on a sandy soil to estimate N immobilization after applying tree clippings to the soil. N availability was evaluated by mineralizable N, N recovery coefficients and N derived from fertilizer. Fresh and composted tree clippings (50 t ha−1) were compared with an unamended control. In each principal treatment, nitrogen fertilizer was added at the rates of 0, 150, 200 and 250 kg N ha−1. Mineralizable N was lowest (P ≤ 0.001) in plots amended with wood residues by comparison to the unamended control. N recovery was 0.49 and 0.54 for fresh and composted residues, respectively, which indicates a higher N immobilization for fresh wood residues. N immobilization was estimated at 46 kg N ha−1 and increased in treatments receiving fresh tree clippings and also with increasing N rates. Moreover, a significant linear increase of N derived from fertilizer (P = 0.03) was observed with fertilizer N rates especially in amended treatments. Thus, the incorporation of ligneous material to the soil may have reduced the availability of soil mineralized N and potato growth depended mainly on N fertilizer addition. This study indicates that during the first growing season following the application of ligneous materials, N immobilization remained the main restricting factor on potato production. The multi-state series system with degrading components is defined and its exact reliability function is determined. The limit reliability function for large multi-state systems is introduced. An auxiliary theorem on limit reliability function of a large multi-state series system, which is necessary for its approximate reliability evaluation, is presented. On the basis of this auxiliary theorem some corollaries are formulated and proved and then applied to approximate reliability and availability determination of a large multi-state series system. Evaluations are given of a multi-state system reliability function, its mean lifetimes in the state subsets and their standard deviations, mean value and variance of the lifetime up to and the number of exceeding the system reliability critical state and its availability coefficient. The cost analysis of a multi-state series system is performed as well. The results are applied to a large telecommunication network reliability, availability and cost analysis.

Abstract A low-density rain gauge network is always a major obstacle for hydrological modelling, particularly for alpine and remote regions. The availability of the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) rainfall products provides an opportunity for hydrological modelling, although the results must be validated and corrected before they can be used in further applications. In this paper, the combination of proportional coefficients with cross-checking by hydrological modelling was proposed as a method to improve the quality of TRMM data in a rural mountainous region, the Hotan River Basin. The performance of the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model was examined using streamflow and snow cover measurements. The corrected results suggest that the proportional coefficient approach could effectively improve the TRMM data quality. A verification of the hydrological model outputs indicated that the simulated streamflow was consistent with the observed runoff. Moreover, the modelled snow cover patterns presented similar spatial and temporal variations to the remotely sensed snow cover, and the correlation coefficient ranged from 0.63 to 0.98. The results from the TRMM correction and hydrological simulation approach indicated that this method can significantly improve the precision of TRMM data and can meet the requirements of hydrological modelling.

The steady simulation with flow field and heat transfer performance for different rib layouts is investigated. By referring the GE-E3 turbine blade tip (Case 1) profile as a prototype model, four kinds of rib layouts of full rib structure (Case 2), half rib structure connected with suction side (Case 3), half rib structure connected with pressure side (Case 4), and half rib structure in the rear squealer cavity (Case 5) was designed. The availability of k-ω turbulence model was validated through comparison of heat transfer coefficient distribution with the experimental data. The area-averaged heat transfer coefficients of Case 5 decreases up to 11.3%, 3.1%, 11.3%, and 2.8% in comparison to Cases 1, 2, 3, and 4. The total pressure coefficient of Case 5 reduces by 1.4%, 2.7%, and 4.0% compared to Cases 1, 2, and 3. The results reveal that, among the five novel rib layout cases, Case 5 obtains the optimal comprehensive performance under the performance of considering tip heat transfer and cascade loss. Further investigation on the influence of Cases 1 and 5 at different rotational speeds on the flow field and heat transfer characteristics of the tip clearance is also illustrated and discussed.

The paper deals with major factors affecting on people’s participation in forest protection and management activities in the Hill area of Nepal. Local people participate in forestry programmes basically for improving quality, quantity, and density of forests that ultimately help in continuously availability of the basic forest products for their livelihood and socio-economic development. The nature and level of people’s participation is highly determined by gross household income and socio-economic factors. A multiple log regression analysis used to examine the level of people’s participation as dependent variable and gross household income along with other socio-economic factors as independent variables. Correlation coefficients, coefficient of determinants, adj-coefficient of determinants, t-test, F-test and D-W test are major tools used for data analyses. The study found that as people received more forest products and other benefits from forest protection and management in short and long term, local people significantly participate in forestry programs. As women, poor people and disadvantage groups (DAGs) of the society are the prime users of forests and forest products, they have been directly involved and also gradually increasing in forestry activities in the study area.
