Over the last years software development life-cycles have continuously been shortened and new releases are being deployed at a more and more frequent level. In order to ensure the quality of those releases, a strong shift towards automated testing at all testing levels has become noticeable throughout the software devel-opment industry. At system testing level, the scope of testing is the developed product as a whole, tested in a test environment that has a very close resemblance to the production system. Because of this system-wide scope and the many po-tential sources for failures, the implementation of automated tests at this level is challenging. Exhaustive testing is neither feasible nor maintainable, therefore proper designed test cases that cover important functionality are essential. Due to increasing laws and regulations on data protection and data privacy, proper man-agement of test data used in automated testing is as important. This paper dis-cusses how automated system tests for TeachCenter 3.0, Graz University of Technology’s learning management system, were implemented.

<p>As the core component of Android framework, Android system services provide a large number of basic and core function services for Android system. It has a lot of resources and very high system permissions. And for the Android system, it is a very important attack surface. Attackers can use Android system service vulnerabilities to steal user privacy, cause Android applications or Android system denial of service, remote malicious code execution and other malicious behaviors, which will seriously affect the security of Android users. Based on fuzzy testing technology, this paper designed and implemented a vulnerability mining system for Android system services, optimized and improved the fuzzy testing method, so as to improve the speed and effectiveness of vulnerability mining, and timely submitted the discovered vulnerabilities to the corresponding manufacturers and security agencies, to help Android manufacturers repair the vulnerabilities in time. The main work of this paper is as follows: Aiming at the null pointer reference vulnerability of Android system services, we designed and implemented an automatic fast mining system FASSFuzzer. FASSFuzzer uses ADB to quickly detect null pointer reference vulnerabilities in Android services. At the same time, FASSFuzzer added automatic design to automatically perceive the generation of vulnerabilities and ensure the full automation of the whole vulnerability mining process, and automatically generate a vulnerability mining report after the completion of vulnerability mining.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

The article is devoted to the technique of automated testing of NSUts – automatic assessment system for programming tasks developed at NSU. The main priority for this technique is to test both the old and the new versions of the application, so that the same or minimally modified tests could be executed on two versions of the system with different architectures. This could be useful while organizing the development process for other applications with a long life cycle. To test not only the server but also the client side of the web application, we suggest using tools like Selenium WebDriver to simulate user actions by sending commands to real browsers. We use the well-known Page Object design pattern to handle differences in HTML layout and functionality, and describe a number of ways to make developed tests less fragile and easily adapt those to work with the new version of the system. The article also describes the use of this technique to organize automated testing of the NSUts system and analyzes its effectiveness. The analysis shows that the estimated code coverage by these tests is quite high, and therefore the technique can be considered effective and applied to other similar web applications.

A central tenet of good diagnostic laboratory practice is protecting laboratory staff from contact with sample-borne pathogens and dangerous chemicals. Automated sample-processing systems can reduce or eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious samples while providing results on par with, or better than, those from manually processed samples. In addition, hands-free automated processing may enable analysts to focus on higher order activities while eliminating the risk of repetitive strain injuries associated with manual pipetting. Here, we describe a semi-automated tuberculosis interferon-γ release assay (IGRA) workflow that includes an automated high-throughput sample-processing system. The system automates cap removal, automates sample mixing and aspiration of blood from lithium heparin collection tubes, and aliquots blood samples into multiple blood assay tubes for downstream testing without manual intervention. We show that automated results are comparable to manual methods without risk of analyst exposure or repetitive strain injury.

<p>Home automation system is one of the intelligent systems meant to create new opportunities for industry and business, as well as new experiences for users and consumers. This project is about designing, developing and testing a web-based intelligent home automation system called i-Home. The main users will be residents in any residential area i.e. gated community, terrace housing area, condominium and others. Its function is to ease residents in controlling the lights, fans, air conditioning, the house temperature and monitoring their CCTVs through online. For the hardware component Raspberry Pi was used due to its low cost, credit card-sized single-board computer that includes a processor, GPU, RAM and MicroSD as the server. Raspberry Pi primarily uses Linux-kernel-based operating system. It also requires PHP, JavaScript, Python and MySQL. The prototype of the system was built and performed most of the functions of home automation system. Usability and functional testing were carried out and both results showed that all functions worked perfectly.</p>

Abstract One of the ways to reduce human influence on the control process is the development of automated and automatic control systems. Modern control systems are quite complex and require preliminary ground testing. The article considers the issues of creating Imitation Modelling Stand for such control system synthesis and testing. For this reason, a Control System Model was integrated into the local computer network of the navigation simulator NTPRO 5000. The authors of the paper developed and tested software for information exchange between the navigation simulator and the Control System Model. The authors also developed a functional module of collision avoidance with many targets for testing in a closed loop system with virtual training objects. The results showed that the developed Imitation Modelling Stand allowed developing and testing functional modules of the control systems. In comparison with the found analogues, it is easy to include in a closed simulation cycle various models of command devices, actuators, control objects, objects of training scene, weather conditions; it is universal both for solving problems of manual control and for developing and testing automatic and automated control systems; it is not highly specialised and is created at minimal costs.

Purpose – The paper aims to deliver an approach of how lightweight robot systems can be used to automate manual processes for higher efficiency, increased process capability and enhanced ergonomics. To show how these systems can be utilized in practice, a new collaborative testing system for an automated water leak test was designed using an image processing system utilized by the robot. Design/methodology/approach – The “water leak test” in an automotive final assembly line is often a significant cost factor due to its labour-intensive nature. This is particularly the case for premium car manufacturers as each vehicle is watered and manually inspected for leakage. This paper delivers an approach that optimizes the efficiency and capability of the test process by using a new automated in-line inspection system whereby thermographic images are taken by a lightweight robot system and then processed to locate the leak. Such optimization allows the collaboration of robots and manual labour which, in turn, enhances the capability of the process station. Findings – This paper examines the development of novel applications for lightweight robotic systems and provides a suitable process whereby the systems are optimized in technical, ergonomic and safety-related aspects. Research limitations/implications – A new automated testing process in combination with a processing algorithm was developed. Practical implications – To optimize and validate the system, it was set up in a true to reality model factory and brought to a prototypical status. Several original equipment manufacturers showed great interest in implementing the system in their assembly line. Social implications – The direct human–robot collaboration allows humans and robots to share the same workspace without strict separation measures which is a great advantage compared with traditional industrial robots. The workers benefit from a more ergonomic workflow and are relieved from unpleasant, repetitive and burdensome tasks. Originality/value – A lightweight robotic system was implemented in a continuous assembly line as a new area of application for these systems. The automated water leak test gives a practical example of how to enrich the assembly and commissioning lines, which are currently dominated by manual labour, with new technologies. This is necessary to reach a higher efficiency and process capability while maintaining a higher flexibility potential than fully automated systems.

To identify the needs of modern recruiting and determine the features of staff selection and evaluation using psychological testing, was conducted an analysis of existing developments and systems that are used in the modern recruitment process. The problems that HR managers have when testing a candidate and the company's staff are identified, and the disadvantages of modern recruiting systems are highlighted. According to the detailed structure of the personality and the structure of the psychological portrait, the main features of the candidate's personality were identified and selected methods that can be used for testing. A web-based system "KnitTe" for HR managers was developed, which allows clients to expand the functionality of their CRM systems (initial stage integration with Odoo CRM modules) and helps in making a decision about the suitability of a candidate for a specific position in terms of their psychological personality traits, as well as their psychological compatibility with other team members. The overall structure of the web system allows the client to get data from the CRM system, use built-in psychological tests, and get results. The "KnitTe" web-system uses reliable, valid and verified psychological methods, builds a psychological portrait of the candidate, checks the candidate's compliance with the chosen position, and analyzes the candidate's compatibility with the team.

Problem and goals. In article the problem of carrying out professional orientation activity in the general education organizations is considered. The role of early career guidance for the conscious choice by graduates of schools of the future profession is shown. Need of use of the automated systems for conducting professional orientation testing of pupils for the purpose of determination of tendencies and interests in one or another field of professional activity is shown. Methodology. The research is directed to design and development of system “Psychodiagnostics of educational institution”, which allows to hold professional orientation testing in various options. Unlike the existing developments, the created system allows to carry out in a computer class and far off both group and individual testing. Results of testing for all the time of carrying out are kept in a system. The system gives an opportunity to carry out analytics of results of a research on various indicators and criteria. Results. Work has practical value for the educational institutions, which are engaged in career guidance of school students. Results of approbation of this system on the basis of Moscow State Budgetary Educational Institution “School No. 1357 ‘Na Bratislavskoi’ ” are shown. Conclusion. The system allowing to increase efficiency of professional orientation ac- tivity of the educational organization and to automate process of testing in various options with a possibility of analytics of results of testing is for the first time offered.

The requirement for an automated test system has immensely increased due to the realization that manual testing is associated with additional resources and staffing constraints. In order to achieve a competitive edge, reduced development cost, timely product delivery, and product quality are mandatory in today's organization. Manual testing requires skilled operators that increase cost, time, and product delivery. The low cost computer-based automated system helps to get an edge by fulfilling these organizational demands. In this paper, an automated testing system has been developed to support functional testing of all phases of Nortel Networks 1-Meg modem system as its system under test (SUT). The modem is an inherently complex asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) product and its testing is far more complex than just verification of process faults. The complexity of ADSL system renders automated test system an important and imperative part of ADSL testing. The subject paper demonstrates the indispensable need of automated test system for ADSL testing and its relative advantages in providing some benefit for the organization.

Automated robotic systems are becoming prevalent in many aerospace manufacturing applications, such as laser ablation, sanding, drilling, final assembly, and painting. There are significant advantages to using automated robotic systems for inspection purposes as well: versatility, speed, and repeatability, to name a few. This paper explores using an automated robotic system for the nondestructive testing (NDT) of composite parts. It has a focus on phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) but highlights modularity principles in the system that are not coupled to a single inspection method. Because of the articulation inherent in multi-axis robots, inspections of contoured structures become straightforward if the system modules are designed correctly. Examples of such modules, and their advantages when interfaced to an automated robotic system, are included in this paper. It is the author’s intent to show how these system modules might maximize robot capabilities for a broad range of aerospace inspections while keeping a simplistic design that is modular, fast, and straightforward to use. When compared to other aerospace manufacturing processes already using automated robotic systems, the use of robots for NDT seems not only prudent but a favorable goal. This paper offers practical building blocks for achieving this goal.

Currently, along with growth in industrial production, the requirements for product quality testing are also increasing. In the tasks of defectoscopy and defectometry of multilayer materials, the use of thermal nondestructive testing method is promising. At the same time, interpretation of thermal testing data is complicated by a number of factors, which makes the use of traditional methods of data processing ineffective. Therefore, an urgent task is to search for new methods of thermal testing that will automate the diagnostic process and increase information content of obtained results. The purpose of article is to use the advances in deep learning for processing results of active thermal testing of products made of multilayer materials and development of an automated system for thermal defectoscopy and defectometry of such products. The proposed system consists of a heating source, an infrared camera for recording sequences of thermograms and a digital information processing unit. Three neural network modules are used for automated data processing, each of which performs one of the tasks: defects detection and classification, determination of the defect depth and thickness. The software algorithms and user interface for interacting with system are programmed in the NI LabVIEW development environment.Experimental studies on samples made of multilayer fiberglass have shown a significant advantage of the developed system over using traditional methods for analyzing thermal testing data. The defect classification (determining the type) error on the test dataset was 15.7 %. Developed system ensured determination of defect depth with a relative error of 3.2 %, as well as the defect thickness with a relative error of 3.5 %.

Spatial sampling criteria and fast recognition theory based on single view imaging system are proposed for automatic testing the assembly structures inside products in industry applications. There must be a maximum rotary step for an object within which the least structural size to be tested is ascertained. Rotating the object by the step and imaging it and so on until a 360°turn is completed, an image sequence is obtained that includes the full structural information for recognition. It is verified that objects could be recognized at a single or some limited orientations by analyzing the correlations among the image sequence. The theory is applied to the online automated X-ray vision system. Experiments show that the average identification takes less than 5s with 4.5% of wrong recognition expense.

The article discusses the problem of transformation of measuring signal of differential transformer converter of universal testing machines for further processing by microprocessor controller. In order to automate the testing process, it is necessary to collect, process and transmit the measured data to an automated workplace using a microprocessor controller. Due to the fact that usually the secondary windings of the differential transformer converters produce an alternating voltage of very small magnitude, such a measurement signal cannot be processed with the help of modern microprocessor controllers without conversion. Since the analog-to-digital converter of the microprocessor controller cannot operate with alternating voltage, it becomes necessary to rectify and amplify the measuring signal. For low voltages (less than 0.6 V), the use of conventional resistor-diode rectifiers becomes impossible and there is a need for other methods of rectifying alternating current. It is proposed to use full-wave active rectifiers without diodes on operational amplifiers for conversion of the measuring signal of differential transformer converters, the main disadvantages of diode rectifiers and advantages of rectifiers on operational amplifiers are considered. The biggest advantage of a rectifier proposed for use in an automated testing system is the ability to simultaneously rectify and amplify the measurement signal with the required precision, allowing it to be processed by most modern microprocessor controllers. For the first time, an automated testing system on a tensile machine was developed using an active full-wave voltage rectifier on operational amplifiers without the use of diodes. The circuit shown in the article makes it possible to convert the signal of a differential transformer converter for further processing using the Arduino microcontroller platform. An amplifying active full-wave voltage rectifier without diodes on operational amplifiers can be used to modernize testing or measurement equipment containing a differential transformer transducer of a measuring signal. The developed electrical circuit of the rectifier was applied to automate the process of testing on the breaking machine of model P-0.5. Autonomous vehicles need accurate and dependable positioning, and these systems need to be tested extensively. We have evaluated positioning based on ultrawideband (UWB) ranging with our self-driving model car using a highly automated approach. Random drivable trajectories were generated, while the UWB position was compared against the Real-Time Kinematic Satellite Navigation (RTK-SN) positioning system which our model car also is equipped with. Fault injection was used to study the fault tolerance of the UWB positioning system. Addressed challenges are automatically generating test cases for real-time hardware, restoring the state between tests, and maintaining safety by preventing collisions. We were able to automatically generate and carry out hundreds of experiments on the model car in real time and rerun them consistently with and without fault injection enabled. Thereby, we demonstrate one novel approach to perform automated testing on complex real-time hardware.

In today's software industry, the design of test cases is mostly based on human expertise, while test automation tools are limited to execution of pre-planned tests only. Evaluation of test outcomes is also associated with a considerable effort by human testers who often have imperfect knowledge of the requirements specification. Not surprisingly, this manual approach to software testing results in heavy losses to the world's economy. In this paper, we demonstrate the potential use of data mining algorithms for automated modeling of tested systems. The data mining models can be utilized for recovering system requirements, designing a minimal set of regression tests, and evaluating the correctness of software outputs. To study the feasibility of the proposed approach, we have applied a state-of-the-art data mining algorithm called Info-Fuzzy Network (IFN) to execution data of a complex mathematical package. The IFN method has shown a clear capability to identify faults in the tested program.

Abstract The paper describes a mixed reality environment for testing highly automated vehicle functions. The proposed Scenario-inthe-Loop test system connects real-time computer simulation with real elements being applicable at automotive proving ground. The paper outlines necessary hardware and software requirements and proposes basic system architecture. The limitation and bottleneck of the system are also identified: latency of the wireless communication constraints the accuracy of the test system. However, the presented framework can contribute to efficient development, testing and validation of automated cars. The Scenario-In-The-Loop architecture has also been justified by real-world demonstration using an experimental 5G New Radio network technology.

Testing of IQ™ 200 Automated Urine Analyzer Analytical Performances in Comparison with Manual Techniques Automation is necessary in laboratory systems. It enables reduction of time required for sample analysis, as well as standardization of methods. However, automation of urine control in laboratories is much less common than in hematological analyses. Not long ago, the necessary automated systems for urine analysis have also been developed. The objective of this study is a comparison of the IQ™ 200 automated system for urine analyzing with standardized manual urine analyzing techniques. Comparative analysis of 300 samples was performed by the IQ™ 200 system and by the standardized methods of manual microscopy and chemical urine analysis. The results acquired point to very high compatibility between urine analyses by manual techniques and by the automated system IQ™ 200, and in some analyses IQ™ 200 showed higher sensitivity. It can be concluded, with the aim of standardization and shortening of time required for urine analysis, that utilization of automated urine analyzing systems is recommendable, especially in institutions with a large number of daily analyses. This is also supported by the fact that operation procedure on automated systems is much more simple in comparison to manual techniques.

Ensuring the quality of products on the production line requires application of the automated diagnostic systems in the robotic complexes to control their performance. The aim and research problems are defined by analyzing the existing automated diagnostic systems of technical units at manufacture active elements in the instrumental-making industry. On an example of industrial robots working in the manufacture enterprises at instrument-making industry there were determined the sensor tools for information-measuring their moving parts and a working status of the mechatronic units, as well as a scheme of the sustainable diagnostics of automated control system of active elements of the researched technological process.
