Анотація:
One of the main ways to increase the rotary excavator productivity is to automate excavator operation. The article presents an automatic speed adjustment system for the stacking conveyor belt of a trench rotary excavator. It is shown that the automated control system will allow taking into account the rotor actual rotation speed and the bucket fill factor, processing data and solving tasks of the excavator operation automatic control in excavation mode. The represented automated control system will ensure the conveyor operation with the necessary, but not maximum speed. Therefore, the conveyor will not work “in vain”, that, in its turn, will reduce operating costs including energy.

In current freight railroad operations, locomotive control is shared between the human engineer and automated energy management systems such as GE Trip Optimizer. Transitions between the manual and automatic modes temporarily increase engineer workload above the demands of the current operating situation. Using the average response time and average number of secondary visual attention task stimuli presented as proxy measures of workload, we tracked the time course of workload during the mode transitions for two types of automated control system. The average response times peaked immediately after the mode change. The average number of stimuli presented peaked just before the mode change. We conclude that this technique of measuring workload would be very useful in evaluating future automated systems concepts in a train simulator.

The dynamic characteristics quality of automated warehouse directly affects its reliability and efficiency. It is difficult to get the dynamic properties of automated warehouse with traditional design methods. The physical model of the GWD2005 automatic warehouse is established with the finite element method. Modal analysis is applied to stacker structure. Natural frequency and vibration mode of automated warehouse is confirmed. The instability factors of existing structure vibration are studied. The results show that the analysis method is effective to design the structure of automated warehouse.

The task of interpreting p-mode spectra is complicated by the presence of a very large number of oscillation modes, each of which may appear (because of aliasing) in the power spectra corresponding to several values of l and m. Identifying peaks in a power spectrum with particular modes in an interactive fashion thus quickly becomes impractical. Here I describe an automated method for doing this identification. The method is based on an application of Bayes' theorem, which provides a simple way to use prior knowledge about the oscillation spectrum. The method takes as input the observed power spectra, and a model of the amplitudes and frequencies one expects to see.

At present, bone marrow analysis is performed microscopically, but is time consuming and labour intensive. No automated methods have been successfully applied to classification of bone marrows cells because automated blood cell analysers have been incapable of identifying erythroblasts. The present study was designed to evaluate automated analysis of bone marrow aspirates with the CELL-DYN 4000 (CD4000) haematology analyser, which enables automated determination of erythroblast counts in both the normal mode (haemolytic time; 11.5s) and the resistant RBC mode (34.0s). The percentages of subpopulations including lymphocytes, neutrophils and erythroblasts were obtained with the CD4000, and as a reference, differential counts by microscopic observation of May–Grünwald–Giesa-stained films of bone marrow aspirates were performed (n=98). Significant correlations (P < 0.01) between the results obtained with the two methods were observed for total nucleated cell count and lymphocytes, neutrophils, erythroblasts and myeloid/erythroid (M/E) ratio. However, there were biases in the average percentages of erythroblasts, lymphocytes and M/E ratio obtained using the normal mode with the CD4000 toward values lower than those obtained with the microscopic method. Using the RBC resistant mode with the CD4000, the average percentages of erythroblasts, lymphocytes and M/E ratio approximated those obtained with the microscopic method. In conclusion, the CD4000 in resistant RBC mode is more useful for analysis of bone marrow aspirates than is the normal mode, because the former better approximates the M/E ratio than the latter.

A global network of small automated telescopes, the Taiwan Automated Telescope (TAT) network, dedicated to photometric measurements of stellar pulsations, is under construction. Two telescopes have been installed in Teide Observatory, Tenerife, Spain and Maidanak Observatory, Uzbekistan. The third telescope will be installed at Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii, USA. Each system uses a 9-cm Maksutov-type telescope. The effective focal length is 225 cm, corresponding to anf-ratio of 25. The field of view is 0.62 degree square. The images are taken with a 16-bit1024×1024CCD camera. The telescope is equipped with UBVRI filters. Each telescope is fully automated. The telescope can be operated either interactively or fully automatically. In the interactive mode, it can be controlled through the Internet. In the fully automatic mode, the telescope operates with preset parameters without any human care, including taking dark frames and flat frames. The network can also be used for studies that require continuous observations for selected objects.

The key problem of operation optimization for automated container terminal is the coordinated scheduling of automated quay crane (QC), automated guided vehicle (AGV), and automated stacking crane (ASC). In order to solve this problem, this paper proposed a new method to optimize the scheduling of ASC and AGV. In the automated container terminal, each container block is equipped with twin ASCs. At the same time, buffer zones are set at both ends of the container block to achieve the decoupling operation among ASC, AGV, and container truck. Considering the buffer capacity constraint and twin ASC operation interference, and introducing the design of handshake area, this paper developed a collaborative scheduling model of AGV and ASC in automatic terminal relay operation mode. This model is designed based on the genetic algorithm. The model aims to minimize the AGV waiting time and the ASC running time. The results indicated that the introduction of handshake area can effectively reduce the ASC operation interference by 10.56% on average. Also, it can be found that increasing buffer capacity can reduce the waiting time of AGV by about 4.25% on average, and the effect of relay operation is more obvious in large-scale operation. It was proved that buffer zone and handshake area can reduce task delay time and improve coordination between AGV and ASC.

Transportation of sensitive flight hardware requires information about the expected transportation environment as well as the actual transportation environment during the part's movement—typically vibration with superimposed intermittent shocks. Each data type has different sampling, processing, and specification requirements. Analyzing shock data requires high sampling rates and leads to large file sizes. A barrier to analyzing data has been the vast quantity of information acquired. Previous approaches have focused either on manually separating data or on selectively recording extreme data. The use of an automated approach allows for quickly verifying vibration and shock levels while retaining the robustness of the underlying data set. Further, the automated approach allows the environments engineer to select criteria for shock/vibration sorting, which removes the subjectivity associated with visual differentiation. This automated technique evaluated several vehicles over four different road conditions in the same time that one data set could have been processed using visual discrimination. Automated processing of satellite shipment vibration and shock data is made thoroughly and objectively vs. traditional shock and tilt indicators. The automated technique could also be useful in processing large amounts of on-orbit data for changes in vibration signature.

SummaryDynamic equations of chain structured robotic manipulators with compliant links and joints are developed in a non-recursive symbolic form. A program is developed in REDUCE to automate the symbolic expansion of these equations for any given chain structured manipulator. The symbolic non-recursive form of dynamic model is particularly suitable for controller synthesis and real-time control implementations. The link flexibility is included in the formulation using assumed mode shapes. The mode shapes and the parameters that are functions of the mode shapes are kept in symbolic form so that once a symbolic model is generated, different types of mode shapes can be studied using the same model. Because of the structural similarity between the developed equations and the well known rigid manipulator equations, the computer automated symbolic expansion capability presented here are likely to be utilized widely by many other researchers in the area who are already familiar with rigid manipulator problems.

Mode errors are one kind of breakdown in human-computer interaction. The concept was developed originally in the context of relatively simple reactive computerized devices such as word processors. When a device possesses multiple modes, where something is done one way in one mode and another way in another mode, there is increased potential for erroneous actions. In this paper we extend and expand the concept of mode error to supervisory control of automated resources in event-driven situations such as pilot interaction with cockpit automation. In this type of situation, the state of the automated system can change in response to either operator input, situation factors or system factors. This creates complexities in tracking system mode changes over time, surprises created by “uncommanded” mode changes, and the possibility of errors of omission as well as commission in managing multiple system modes. Progress in our understanding of mode error in the context of highly automated systems is important in our ability to develop effective countermeasures for mode-related problems in human-computer cooperation.

Concurrent with mental processes that require rigorous computation and control, a series of automated decisions and actions govern our daily lives, providing efficient and adaptive responses to environmental demands. Using a cognitive flexibility task, we show that a set of brain regions collectively known as the default mode network plays a crucial role in such “autopilot” behavior, i.e., when rapidly selecting appropriate responses under predictable behavioral contexts. While applying learned rules, the default mode network shows both greater activity and connectivity. Furthermore, functional interactions between this network and hippocampal and parahippocampal areas as well as primary visual cortex correlate with the speed of accurate responses. These findings indicate a memory-based “autopilot role” for the default mode network, which may have important implications for our current understanding of healthy and adaptive brain processing.

In this work the question of creation and application of formal models in the form of varieties of Petri nets to process of the automated electric tests of the automatic spacecraft is considered. At present, automatic spacecraft for various purposes are required to have a long active life. This implies the use of modern electronic components that are resistant to external factors affecting outer space. Electronic equipment, consisting of these components, forms information networks on Board the spasecraft, which leads to the need for a comprehensive electrical inspection of the operation of onboard instruments and systems of such networks in an automated mode. Modeling of the processes taking place in the on-Board electronic units, and the control and verification equipment interacting with it, is of separate interest, as it allows to develop automated testing methods based on the obtained data of the model analysis.

Recent developments in the field of modal-based damage detection and vibration-based monitoring have led to a renewed interest in automated procedures for the operational modal analysis (OMA). The development of automated operational modal analysis (OMA) procedures marked a fundamental step towards the elimination of any user intervention since traditional modal identification requires a lot of interaction by an expert user. A key for effective automation of OMA is depended on well- defined modal indicators for a clear indication about which modes are to be selected as the physical modes. In all modal analysis, the construction of stabilization diagrams is necessary in order to illustrate, and decide, if a mode is physical or not for predefined range of the model order. On the other hand, the use of stabilization diagram tools involves a large amount of user interaction, costly, time-consuming process and certainly unsuited for online applications. Therefore, the development of automatic procedures for the analysis of stabilization diagrams by resembling decision-making process of a human has been carried out in recent years. For the sake of clearness, the automation of the interpretation of stabilization diagrams can generally be divided into two steps in order to speed up the process: a) elimination of noise modes and b) clustering of physical modes in order to obtain the most representative values of the estimated parameters of each clustered mode. In recent years, several alternative procedures have been proposed for clustering techniques. Therefore, this review aims to provide relevant essential information on the recent developments of cluster analysis in automated OMA. A literature review of existing clustering algorithm has been carried out to find best practice criteria for automated modal parameter identification which involving the general concepts of these techniques as well as the pro and cons of applying these clustering techniques are also discussed and summarised.

This scientific article proposes a model of pedestrian and car flow control system that can characterize the operation of two different control modes, the first of which is fully automatic, and the second works in automated mode, the results of which depend on information about the current situation on the road. the number of pedestrians and cars or depends on the intensity of traffic. In order to demonstrate the work of the proposed model, we will take some sections of the direct road where there is an adjustable pedestrian crossing. The system can determine the number of pedestrians in two ways: through surveillance cameras and with available statistics, such as information about the intensity at specific times. The second method, namely the application of pre-known parameters such as the intensity of pedestrian and traffic flows is used when it is impossible to determine the current situation on the road due to some reasons such as accident, bad weather and so on. The modes will be switched using the functionwhich will determine the mode of regulation of traffic lights according to the time intervals at which the intensity of the flows will also change. The automatic control system will work during rush hour, when the city's transport network operates. the greatest load. The second mode is for certain periods of time when the intensity of pedestrian flow is low, for example at night. The relationship between these intensity and time will be established statistically. The mode of automatic or "hard" regulation determines the duration of the pedestrian and car phases of traffic lights depending on the number of pedestrians and cars. Gas content measurement is a common technique in the prevention of coalmine gas disasters. During the measurement, the gas desorption amount of field coal samples needs to be obtained by an instrument working under the principle of gas collection by water displacement (GCWD). The instrument is poorly automated, and susceptible to the influence of subjective factors. To overcome these defects, this paper designs an automatic detector of gas desorption, aiming to realize automated detection. Firstly, the authors analyzed the gas desorption detection process, and clarified the contents and features of the information to be collected. On this basis, the hardware and software systems of the multi-data automatic detector were developed based on digital circuit design and multi-sensor detection. To further improve the measuring accuracy of gas desorption, the multi-range multi-stage mode was introduced to the automatic detector. Application results show that the proposed detector can automatedly collect and store gas desorption amount, ambient pressure, and temperature, greatly improve the degree of automation, and minimize the influence of subjective factors. The popularization of this detector will make gas desorption measurement more efficient and effective, laying a solid basis for the prevention of coalmine gas disasters.

In the field of modern logistics, automated warehousing is a very important subject. This paper discusses the layout principles of storage spaces in warehousing, lists different storage methods of goods, and studies how to use the TOPSIS method based on AHP (analytic hierarchy process), summarizes the detailed methods and steps, to find the optimal storage mode, and makes an effective example application of the storage mode of a warehouse management. The research in this paper is suitable for the method choice of similar type of automatic warehouse storage management. The TOPSIS analysis model based on AHP is easy to analyze and calculate, and has universality in the method choice of automatic warehouse storage management.

For accurate prediction of E-motor noise and vibration performance at the design stage, it is important to model the E-Motor stator structural behavior with high fidelity. Orthotropic material properties have been widely used in practice to simulate laminated steel in the stator. In these models, material constants are calibrated to match natural frequencies of critical modes such as oval/triangle/square modes. Typically, identifying accurate material properties is a manual, time-consuming process, involving lots of trial and error. This study presents an automated workflow to calibrate the material properties for the stator with Ansys Mechanical and optiSLang. The developed workflow can track natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes of critical modes, and adjust material constants automatically to find best material parameters for the given frequencies. It can rotate the mode shapes and find the orientation that gives best match to the measurements based on modal assurance criteria (MAC). This workflow has shown a good correlation between simulation and test in terms of natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes for the stator of a switched reluctance motor (SRM). Such an automated workflow enables the fast, efficient material calibration process, therefore accurate electric powertrain NVH simulations.

The paper is devoted to the creation of automated methods for calculating the strength of composite structures, taking into account the influence of impact damage and temperature effects in the range from -600 to +600. To solve this problem, a program for automated finite element modelling of a typical reinforced composite panel was created. Program allows to conduct parametric studies of strength and stability in an automatic mode, to model panel impact damage and to parameterize the temperature dependence of the strength of a composite. Using this method, results were obtained on the strength and stability of the panel in the temperature range and in various damage parameters.

Excitation–emission-spectral unmixing-based fluorescence resonance energy transfer (ExEm-spFRET) microscopy exhibits excellent robustness in living cells. We here develop an automatic ExEm-spFRET microscope with 3.04 s of time resolution for a quantitative FRET imaging. The user-friendly interface software has been designed to operate in two modes: administrator and user. Automatic background recognition, subtraction, and cell segmentation were integrated into the software, which enables FRET calibration or measurement in a one-click operation manner. In administrator mode, both correction factors and spectral fingerprints are only calibrated periodically for a stable system. In user mode, quantitative ExEm-spFRET imaging is directly implemented for FRET samples. We implemented quantitative ExEm-spFRET imaging for living cells expressing different tandem constructs (C80Y, C40Y, C10Y, and C4Y, respectively) and obtained consistent results for at least 3 months, demonstrating the stability of our microscope. Next, we investigated Bcl-xL-Bad interaction by using ExEm-spFRET imaging and FRET two-hybrid assay and found that the Bcl-xL-Bad complexes exist mainly in Bad-Bcl-xL trimers in healthy cells and Bad-Bcl-xL2 trimers in apoptotic cells. We also performed time-lapse FRET imaging on our system for living cells expressing Yellow Cameleon 3.6 (YC3.6) to monitor ionomycin-induced rapid extracellular Ca2+ influx with a time interval of 5 s for total 250 s.

The technology that allows fully automated driving already exists and it may gradually enter the market over the forthcoming decades. Technology assimilation and automated vehicle acceptance in different countries is of high interest to many scholars, manufacturers, and policymakers worldwide. We model the mode choice between automated vehicles and conventional cars using a mixed multinomial logit heteroskedastic error component type model. Specifically, we capture preference heterogeneity assuming a continuous distribution across individuals. Different choice scenarios, based on respondents’ reported trip, were presented to respondents from six European countries: Cyprus, Hungary, Iceland, Montenegro, Slovenia, and the UK. We found that large reservations towards automated vehicles exist in all countries with 70% conventional private car choices, and 30% automated vehicles choices. We found that men, under the age of 60, with a high income who currently use private car, are more likely to be early adopters of automated vehicles. We found significant differences in automated vehicles acceptance in different countries. Individuals from Slovenia and Cyprus show higher automated vehicles acceptance while individuals from wealthier countries, UK, and Iceland, show more reservations towards them. Nontrading mode choice behaviors, value of travel time, and differences in model parameters among the different countries are discussed.

ITS deployment was adopted to improve traffic operation. Actuated control and advanced traffic management have been deployed in the project area. Driving is a multitasking activity that requires drivers to manage their attention between various driving-and non-driving-related tasks. This paper discusses the problem of modeling realistic and human-like behaviors on simulated highway systems by developing a framework. This framework consists of four units that are the perception unit, the emotions unit, the decision-making unit, and the decision-implementation unit. This paper has researched on the automatic vehicle driving mode (The Advanced Vehicle Control and Safety System) at the four-lane highway. Automated vehicle decision-making procedure is discussed in this research. Two safety indices of automate vehicle driving are explored. In real experiment, TBC index may be good for commending evaluating automate vehicle driving behavior.

For the problem of the low accuracy of large-scale oral English, based on oral English from the perspective of difficulty of oral English text and phonology, a multimodal-based automatic oral English assessment method is proposed by using L2 regularized (multilayer perceptron, MLP) and 9 features affecting the automated assessment of oral English as model input. Simulation results show that the proposed method can well predictively assess oral English difficulty and performs well on RMSE and R2 metrics of 0.053 and 0.905, respectively, with certain advantages over conventional elastic network-based and random forest-based prediction models.

Floor covering samples of different thickness, pile height, pile design, materials, construction methods, and applied finishes were selected for electrostatic characterization with a standard plotter platform and a newly designed digital platform. There is an existing standard ISO 6356 in which the voltage generated by a human walking on the carpet is measured with human involvement under controlled conditions. A walking person performs the original test procedure to generate the electrostatic charge and manually calculates results. In contrast, the newly designed system does not require a person to calculate peaks and valleys for the generated electrostatic charges, which offers advantages in terms of accuracy, consistency, and reproducibility, and eliminates human error. The electronic platform is extended with an automated foot for a fully automated test, called “automatic mode”, that has a fixed capacitive and resistive circuit, in replace of human body resistance, and capacitance that varies from person to person and over time. The procedure includes both the old and new platforms, where the new platform is placed in a “human walking” mode to compare the two and validate the new device. Next, all the floor coverings are tested in automatic mode with the automated foot to compare and validate results. We conclude that the new testing device can fully characterize the electrostatic behavior of textile without the involvement of a human, which offers advantages in terms of accuracy, consistency, and reproducibility.

ABSTRACT In the fast paced environment of a response drill or incident, response personnel need reliable, accurate, and sensible information at their disposal. Many functional units need the ability to access this information. Additionally, these functional units need to start generating; status reports, response costs, and Incident Command System (ICS) forms. With automated contingency plans, response organizations take a significant step towards moving from a reactive emergency management mode to a project management response mode. Through automation, organizations can take what was previously hard copy response plan data and load it in the computer. During steady state this data is easily maintainable and transferable to other similar contingency plans. The incremental cost of maintaining current plans and producing new ones is significantly reduced. With the contingency plans loaded, users can simulate “what-if” scenarios by changing resource allocations, response strategies, or command structures. However, the real benefit of automated contingency plans is their seamless integration into a response drill or actual incident. With the click of a button, the automated contingency plan becomes active and instantly provides the starting point of the response. Based on the steady state decisions called for in the plan, operations command units are established, resource requisitions are immediately generated, and ICS reports are automatically updated. As operation resources change and the dynamic nature of the response continues, the scenario is easily updated. At the conclusion of a drill or incident, the response information is available to analyze or use a starting point for the next drill. This database of information can also be used to target specific functional areas such as procurement or transportation.

Abstract The paper discusses methods to increase the level of automation in ship handling towards autonomous operations with a focus on conventional vessels in maneuvering situations. In this context, a model-based approach for control system design of maneuvering vessels is introduced. The resulting model is applied to a multivariable control system including allocation, feedforward, and feedback modules. The established hybrid control system distinguishes between a transit mode with control in two degrees of freedom in compliance with the prevailing traffic regulations and a dynamic positioning mode in three degrees of freedom for the final stages of a berthing maneuver. The supervisor switches automatically between these two modes. The methods are validated on board the German research vessel DENEB in the port of Rostock.

The article analyses prospects of using a type of robust controllers called relay regulators for automation of vehicle lateral motion. The operation of these regulators in so-called sliding modes is considered along with the “chattering” problem caused by deviations from the “ideal” sliding mode inevitable in actual implementations. For the analysis of vehicle motion, a mathematical model was elaborated, which calculates vehicle dynamics taking into account non-linear tire-road adhesion characteristics. In the conducted study, emphasis was put on low adhesion surfaces, which can be considered as the most difficult case for automatic lateral control of a vehicle. In order to implement automated path tracking within the model, two relay regulators were elaborated differing from one another in the order of dynamics. A comparative study of these regulators was conducted by means of simulations. The regulator that had shown best performance was then tested for robustness by means of modeling, in which maneuvers on snow, ice and a mixed surface were simulated.

The introduction of semi-automated driving systems is expected to mitigate the safety consequences of human error. Observational findings suggest that relinquishing control of vehicle operational control to assistance systems might diminish driver engagement in the driving task, by reducing levels of arousal. In this study, drivers drove a Tesla Model S with Autopilot in both semi-automated and manual modes. Driver behavior was monitored using a combination of physiological and behavioral measures. Compared to manual driving, a reduction in driver physiological activation was observed during semi-automated driving. Also, performance to the peripheral detection task suffered in semi-automated mode, with slower response times recorded in this condition than during manual driving. Taken together, our data suggest that semi-automated driving might not ease safety consequences of human error. Instead, these findings suggest it might cause a drop in driver monitoring, possibly followed by a spike in automation-generated distraction.

New technology is flexible in the sense that it provides practitioners with a large number of functions and options for carrying out a given task under different circumstances. However, this flexibility has a price. Because the human supervisor must select the mode best suited to a particular situation, he or she must know more than before about system operations and the operation of the system as well as satisfy new monitoring and attentional demands to track which mode the automation is in and what it is doing to manage the underlying processes. When designers proliferate modes without supporting these new cognitive demands, new mode-related error forms and failure paths can result. Mode error has been discussed in human-computer interaction for some time; however, the increased capabilities and the high level of autonomy of new automated systems appear to have created new types of mode-related problems. We explore these new aspects based on results from our own and related studies of human-automation interaction. In particular, we draw on empirical data from a series of studies of pilot-automation interaction in commercial glass cockpit aircraft to illustrate the nature, circumstances, and potential consequences of mode awareness problems in supervisory control of automated resources. The result is an expanded view of mode error that takes into account the new demands imposed by more automated systems.

This study evaluates high school students’ perceptions of automated writing feedback, and the influence of these perceptions on revising, as a function of varying modes of computer-based writing instruction. Findings indicate that students’ perceptions of automated feedback accuracy, ease of use, relevance, and understandability were favorable. Immediate perceptions of feedback received on a selected essay were minimally related to how and whether students revised their essays. However, attitudes formed over multiple sessions were significantly related to revising. More importantly, the mode of instruction appeared to influence how feedback perceptions shaped revising behaviors. Students who engaged in traditional writing-based training and practice seemed to focus on their own perceived writing abilities when deciding how to revise. In contrast, students who also received strategy instruction and game-based practice attended more carefully to the perceived quality of the automated feedback.

The article describes the stages of development of a laboratory installation for research and analysis of operational temperature and energy characteristics of refrigerated display cases with automated and non-automated control systems for cold set and thawing. The main elements of the developed laboratory installation are: 1) Refrigerating show-window of TATIANA 1.0NS type which components are systems: cooling, control, and thawing. 2) Processor control unit – Eliwell ID controller is equipped with a digital screen, has inputs for two temperature sensors RTS or NTC and three output relays to control the refrigeration compressor, fan and temperature process of the thawing cycle. The processor unit also provides control of the process of throttling the refrigerant in the evaporator to prevent water hammer in the motor-compressor of the refrigeration unit showcase 3) Flexible electric heater built into the evaporator to provide faster heating during automatic thawing. 4) System of forced air cooling of the condenser. The automatic control system with the processor control unit, which is implemented in the laboratory unit instead of the standard thermostat, provides precise temperature control in an extended range of cooling modes and cyclic thawing process. The showcase works in a stable and economical mode. The operating laboratory installation for research of parameters of the improved refrigerating show-window with the automated control system is developed and equipped. The laboratory refrigeration unit is equipped with devices for measuring and controlling electrical and energy parameters, temperature and humidity in the refrigeration chamber of the shop window during the study of cooling and defrosting modes. With an automatic control system in the shop windows, food products can be stored constantly without spending time on overloading them during the thawing of the evaporator. The developed operating laboratory installation can be used in the educational process for research and comparative analysis of operational temperature and energy characteristics of refrigerated display cases with automated and non-automated control systems for cold storage and defrosting.

Abstract The increasing use of renewable energy in building energy systems has brought considerable challenges for the traditional planning process to develop appropriate control strategies. In previous work, we have introduced the MODI method to support the structured development of mode-based control algorithms, in which operating modes are core elements. However, modeling of energy systems and control algorithms for control tests is time-consuming and error-prone. Identification of permissible operating modes is also unfeasible. The paper introduces a methodology to identify permissible operating modes and model energy systems with mode-based control algorithms in the modeling language Modelica automatically. In the case study, we apply the methodology for an energy supply network and verify the functionality of the methodology. In future work, automated optimization of control algorithms will be integrated into the methodology.

The main goal of this article is to determine a comprehensive and well applicable model architecture, which is adequate to estimate the system level advantages with regard to automated transportation and which is appropriate to determine possible costs and losses with regard to the approach of such transport modes. In the study the Budapest Transportation Model is applied. Taking autonomous vehicle penetration into account as an external variable, in the analysis a constant growth is assumed in the penetration of automated vehicles. This article has taken the most relevant factors of transportation network into account with regard to automated cars. It is also important to mention that the paper presents the most important modelling phases, where automated cars can be taken into account during the macroscopic modelling process. In the first step of the process during the network definition phase it is possible to consider the effect of automated vehicles on the transport system (e.g. separated routes). The next phase where the effect of automated vehicles should be taken into consideration is the mode choice step (e.g. different demand segments). And finally traffic assignment step, where the effect of automated vehicles can be represented. The easiest way for this is the modification of passenger car units through the parameter of assigned traffic per capacity ratio.

Automated, precise single particle manipulation in the microscale is in great demand and is one of the great challenges in biomedical and biochemical engineering. Automatic micromanipulation has also become a microrobotics challenge. Following this challenge, control technology is integrated with dielectrophoresis (DEP)-based micromanipulation technology in this paper to construct automatic DEP-based micromanipulation systems. DEP micromanipulation systems with electrodes of quadrupole polynomial geometry are developed as controllable microactuators. A semianalytical modelling method is proposed to formulate the analytical models of the DEP manipulation systems, which manifests that the DEP manipulation systems are non-affine non-linear systems. Then, taking the parameter uncertainties, unmodelled dynamics and external disturbances into account, an adaptive law combined with a dynamic sliding mode controller is designed for two-dimensional trajectory tracking control of a DEP micromanipulation system. The closed-loop system is proved stable in the presence of bounded lumped uncertainty based on the Lyapunov theorem. Finally, simulation results show the validity of the proposed control design.
