The application of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been studied for decades, and many field trials have been executed to evaluate the usability of RFID systems, the business case of RFID applications and so forth. One of the trial fields is its application to supply chain management (SCM) because the RFID technologies are thought to improve visibility of physical objects dramatically. Through this trial phase, benefits and feasibility of RFID have been confirmed, and as a result, major retailers, such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Metro, have decided to implement RFID. At the same time, these trials reveal the necessity of RFID standards. Among these newly developed RFID standards, Auto-ID standard, which was originally developed by Auto-ID Center, is a strong candidate to be a de-facto standard. Auto-ID technologies consist of data standards and software architecture components. Data standards also consist of two components: Electronic Product Code (EPC) and Physical Markup Language (PML). On the other hand, software architecture components consist of four components: readers, Savant, EPC Information Server (EPC-IS), and Object Name Service (ONS). EPC-IS. which defines the interface of the servers that store physical object information, plays a key role in realizing business processes that the RFID technologies are expected to realize. In this thesis, we propose architecture of EPC-IS by defining the requirements for EPC-IS through generic business processes executed in Auto-ID infrastructure. The architecture we propose is not a monolithic message schema but three simple message schemas with vocabulary sets that are separately defined in dictionaries. By taking this structure, we achieve robust and scalable interface. We also evaluate
our proposal by applying it to the problems found in the RFID trials and possible future business processes.

This thesis will discuss a new approach to preventing the adulteration of prescription medicines in America. The primary thrust of the solution is based on research conducted at MIT's Auto-ID Center on radio frequency technology. The United States faces a growing threat to patient health due to the increasing rate of counterfeit medicine being introduced into the legal pharmaceutical supply chain. This has long been an unresolved global problem, but only recently has it become a major threat in America. Existing legal and technical efforts to control counterfeiting are no longer sufficient to contain the problem. The threat of counterfeits can be partially ameliorated by installing RF-capable electronic tags onto medical packaging, and creating a unique electronic product code (EPC). RF tags though, are not the only component of the required solution. New legal actions, better use of existing technical countermeasures, and industry cooperation are also required. This thesis will outline in more detail the interplay of each of these components in developing a robust solution to the problem of counterfeit medicines.

This thesis analyzes how the Auto-ID technology and information infrastructure will change the management and distribution of pharmaceutical products within the health care industry by enabling item level product traceability functionality. The complexity of the health care industry is steadily growing, due to the concurrent increase in medical knowledge, biomedical technologies, the number of medications and the age of the population. The key to ensuring the quality, integrity and availability of health care goods is the ability to track and trace individual items throughout their complete life-cycle from manufacturing to disposal. Product traceability within the Supply Chain is becoming increasingly important for pharmaceutical manufacturers because the increasing number of medications distributed worldwide has led to the proliferation of counterfeit drugs, product diversions, re-importations and grey markets. Ultimately, the increasing complexity of the pharmaceutical distribution could affect patient safety. The potential of the Auto-ID technology and information infrastructure to synchronize the information and material flow is illustrated using a case study methodology.

Повний текст джерелаDetta examensarbete har utförts på Pan Nordic Logistics (PNL) i Bromma, Stockholm. PNL är ett konceptföretag som erbjuder sina kunder att skicka paket från, till och inom Norden och dessa transporter köper företaget av leverantörer. Ordet koncept- kommer ifrån engelskans concept, alltså begrepp, idé. I PNL:s fall innebär detta att företaget inte har någon egen fysisk distribution utan distributionen sker efter avtal med dess parter. Företaget ser idag ett problem i att det inte har full kontroll på hur leverantörerna sköter sina transportuppdrag gentemot PNL. Problemet är främst att PNL inte har kontroll på när leverantörernas lastbilar avgår och ankommer vid terminalerna i PNL:s standardflöde. Idag ska terminalpersonalen ange om lastbilarna har ankommit och avgått i tid i terminalrapporter, men eftersom personalen inte har full kontroll på alla lastbilar brister säkerheten.
Uppgiften består i att ta fram ett antal förslag på system för fordonskontroll, beskriva dessa och diskutera systemens för- och nackdelar. För att lättare kunna ta fram lämpliga förslag har en nulägesanalys utförts på hur företaget fungerar och hur dess spårningssystem ser ut idag. En kravspecifikation på systemet har tagits fram. Lösningsförslag har analyserats enligt Gunnar Stefanssons klassifikation (1999) kompletterad med ett antal attribut som jag har tagit fram.
De system som jag anser vara bäst lämpade att fungera som kontrollsystem i detta syfte är i rangordning följande förslag:
1. IR-teknik
2. Läsare på mobiltelefon
3. Nordic VLSI
4. Smarta kort
IR-tekniken fungerar så att en mobiltelefon med IR-port riktas mot en enhet, placerad på en terminal, som via IR genererar ett SMS-meddelande från mobiltelefonen till en server där informationen lagras. Jag anser att IR-tekniken är det bästa förslaget för PNL:s syfte, främst för att tekniken är lättanvänd, säker och förhållandevis billig. Läsare på mobiltelefon innebär att en liten streckkodsläsare kan sättas fast på en mobiltelefon, få ström från denna och då läsa en streckkod som anger vilken transport det rör sig om etc. Streckkodsläsare av denna typ är än så länge bara på prototypstadiet. Nordic VLSI innebär att då en knapptryckning sker får en radiosändare och en radiomottagare kontakt då de är i närheten av varandra. Informationen skickas vidare med en s k microcontroller med särskilda protokoll för ändamålet. Smarta kort består av ett plastkort med en transponder på som bär på ett unikt nummer. Det smarta kortet hålls upp fram framför en läsare och registreras då. Tekniken är säkrare än t ex kortteknik med magnetremsa. För samtliga förslag finns risken att chauffören glömmer att registrera ankomst och avgång. För att vara elt säker på att en registrering sker ska systemet vara automatiskt. Exempel på sådana system är RFID-system. Problemet med automatiska system är dock att de är relativt dyra.

Повний текст джерелаAbstract Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to create a framework for manufacturing companies to facilitate the choice of auto-id technology. The purpose is also to identify faults in the current traceability solution at Emballator Lagan Plast, apply the framework to choose an auto-id technology and to suggest the future traceability solution. Method: This thesis is based on qualitative method and includes a systematic literature review, an interview study and a case study. For research question one data was gathered through a systematic literature review and through an interview with an expert in the field of auto-id technologies. For research question two data was gathered through interviews with employees at Emballator Lagan Plast together with scientific articles. Results: By analysing data from the systematic literature review and the interview the framework for choosing an auto-id technology was established. Based on interviews with employees’ faults in the current traceability solution at Emballator Lagan Plast was identified. The framework was applied to choose an auto-id technology as a part of the future traceability solution. The future traceability solution consists of 2D-barcodes, changes in warehouse processes and increased utilization of the warehouse management system.

In order to improve home security and intelligent home appliances, we designed an intelligent security system that combined with intelligent appliance modules and intelligent detection modules,intelligent security module includes, flame detection modules,gas detection modules,temperature and humidity detection modules,light detection modules, intrusion detection modules,current detection modules and intelligent home appliances control modules. The core of these detection modules is the MCS-51 series chip. This paper use wireless communication modules and home security modules for intelligent control and defines the communication protocol.Security system detection modules of the is plugged into the power source and connect with the superrised computer without complicated installation and complicated seting.The system architecture is composed of several independent modules, each security module uses various sensor and uses the same Microcontroller, Display and Wireless module, loudspeaker. In addition to user-friendly management system and expansion the system flexibility, we use ID auto- assignments method.The system change the number and type of each modules, according to different environment.The system can manage and monitor all modules to make better home for security and convenience, and enhance the flexibility and home preservation, and improve the quality of home preservation and security to make the home environment more intelligent.

Auto-ID is an automatic identification system developed by MIT, and will eventually be used in all kinds of management information systems. Auto-ID is a technology aimed to change the world of logistics. It is an open standard, using low cost RFID tags to achieve its goal. Current Auto-ID applications focus on supply chain management and inventory control. This research will use the Auto-ID standard to design architecture suitable of freeway electronic toll collection systems. The capacity of freeway is no longer enough to handle the increasing traffic each year. The freeway is often congested, resulting in waste of both time and money. In the studies of freeway congestion, the most often congested areas is around toll-collection stations. It is apparent the current toll collection scheme needs to be improved, and using the Auto-ID technology to identify vehicles is the most viable solution. Therefore in this research we will focus not only the automatic vehicle identification system, but also consider the implementation of Auto-ID systems as well. We will survey the requirements of freeway electronic toll collection system. First, we emphasize on automatic identification mechanism, and Auto-ID component design issues. Then we make computer simulations on the architecture designed. Finally, we conclude our results for suggestion and future researches.
