The goal of diploma thesis is design of programmable control system. This system can be used for regulation of basic parameters in an aquarium. Primary parameters for selection of this device are the price and the easy realization of final device. In first step there are selected parameters, which are needed to control. In second step there is described which kind of sensors can be used for measuring of selected parameters and suitable regulation of necessary parameters. The device is supposed to communicate with PC by USB and this communication is going to be compatible with an old RS-232. Device must be completed with hardware design. Device will be in principle system with real time, that is the reason why device will contain microcomputer. A microcomputer must communicate with other integrated circuit in the device and it supposes to communicate with PC. In specific chapter it will be described, how many different kinds of communication it is possible. For microcontroller it is necessary to create a program, which can figure the measured parameters and it also allows setting up the way how parameters can be regulated. Measured parameters are supposed to storage in the specific memory for the later interpretation. The completely device must be put into a case, which is calculating with a damp place. There must be created a host application for PC. This application suppose to detect if device is connected, figure measured parameters and also allows to set up the way, how to regulate the parameters and display the storages parameters. The application is suppose to run on the operation system created by Microsoft (Windows XP and Windows Vista or later). Diploma thesis contains a problem of the analysis which parameters may be controlled and the way how it can be controlled. There will be selected the sensors, which are suppose to measure and there will be described the basic data transfer and the specifications. It will also contain description of the hardware and software implementation of the device and possibilities of the user’s settings. There will be described the host application and its possibilities. Finally there will be described a functionality of the device and the host application. It will be also imagined some system upgrades for future.

There is also an overview of MIDI messages, because Mackie Control protocol is based on MIDI protocol. The thesis contains two own DAW controller designs. First one is based on Mackie Control protocol, second one is based on Generic Remote which offers better customization.

This report studies the possibility of using some sort of radio sender and transmitter in order to position skis lost in powder snow. It is concluded that a RF-solution on the 433 MHz frequency should be the most efficient. Different forms of directional antennas are examined and studies show that in theory the best suited is the so called “Yagi-Uda antenna”. A solution based on using a Receive Signal Strength Indicator value together with the above mentioned directional antenna is developed. To control these different components microprocessors from Atmel is used. These are programmed in C and compiled with Atmel’s own compiler AVR Studio. Despite all efforts it is proven that the prototype does not perform in an adequate way. An alternative solution based on “byte-loss-rate” is then developed and the results are slightly improved. Nevertheless, the directional properties of the antenna are still too poor why other alternatives are discussed. No fully functioning prototype is achieved but good grounds for further development of the prototype into something that fulfills the specifications are produced.

This study describes the platform Atmel FPSLIC, which is created by means of the logic arrays FPGA and the micro-sequencer controller AVR. The developmental kit STK594 is described here as well, with its programming possibilities, as for the logic arrays FPGA, as for the micro-sequencers AVR. Also the separate circuit AT94K is described there. This circuit can be programmed by the language VHDL (the field FPGA), or by means of the assembler and language C for the micro-sequencer. All this can be integrated into the one output file by means of program System Designer, comprising a set of software tools for given programming languages and for generation of the whole circuit. Furthermore, the study describes a simple application for the both platform parts. Also the description of the dynamic reconfiguration of the circuit gate part is included.

This display has a resolution of 256 x 64 pixels and allows displaying of 4-bit grayscale. The result of the project is a device with the controlling software.

This diploma thesis describes the standard IEEE802.15.4 and Zigbee for wireless sensor networks. These norms are described in detail in the first two chapters. The main priority of the wireless sensor networks is to minimize the power of the devices and the price while maximizing the reliability of the data transfer. Minimum consumption is provided by the significantly lowered complexity in comparison to the standard wireless networks. Further, the design of the concept of the complex and universal hardware platform focused on intelligent building is described. Software implementation of those norms is described in the chapters five and six. Finally, comparison of the designed hardware platform and the other commercial platforms is described in the last chapter.

The diploma thesis provides a brief overview of the architecture Atmel AVR32 UC. Project deals mainly AVR32 processor UC3A and processor AVR32 UC microarchitecture. From The Microarchitecture AVR32 UC3A was derived processor AT32UC3A0512. This processor is used for the development board EVK1100. Options of this plate are also investigated. Basic information about programming and AVR32 Studio development environment for these processors are given. After the acquisition of control of the IDE and study the attached sample application a simple program was created. This program was integrated as a task operating system FreeRTOS along with several another tasks.

This thesis describes the design, development and realization of a wireless electronic timer for use in firesport. Specification of the final product is built with regard to versatility, ease of use and low acquisition costs. Commercial products have been compared as inspiration for this work. Requirements of the timer are based on the rules of firesport disciplines, where the timer can be used. It consists of a base station that can be accompanied for additional elements used to starting, splits capturing and stopping. An independent communication module has been created to ensure wireless connection. Libraries for comfort work with the module, support for USB bus and reliable protocol for wireless transmission have been implemented.

Standartným, běžným by se dal nazvat port LAN alebo audio vstup-výstup. Nestandartným, špecialním by mohl být obvod FPGA firmy Xilinx o velikosti 200k. Toto dovoluje využít zažízení v oblastech, kde výpočetní síla obyčejnýho CPU již není dostačující.

Control applications are used in almost all scientific domains and are subject to timing constraints. Moreover, different applications can run on the same platform which leads to even more complex timing behaviors. However, some of the timing issues are not always considered in the implementation of such applications, and this can make the system fail. In this thesis, the timing issues are considered, i.e., the problem of non-constant delay in the control of an inverted pendulum with a real-time kernel running on an ATmega328p micro-controller. The study shows that control performance is affected by this problem. In addition, the thesis, reports the adaptation of an existing real-time kernel based on an EDF (Earliest Deadline First) scheduling policy, to the architecture of the ATmega328p. Moreover, the new approach of a server-based kernel is implemented in this thesis, still on the same Atmel micro-controller.

Thesis focuses on interpretation of nested petri nets described in PNML language on Atmel processors. It introduces this limited - from memory capacity and perfomance point of views - targeted architecture, since it greatly affected both design and implementation. The interpreter is thouroughly described from all aspects of its design. One of most important concerns in the whole process was the ability to test and verify achieved state of functionality quickly and possibly without Atmel processor. That’s why the implentation took place on a squeak platform, that allowed to translate whole interpreter for targeted platform. Motivation behind this and overall process of translation is also a subject of this work.

This study examined attitudes toward multiple role planning (ATMRP) amongst engineering students in South Africa (N = 146). ATMRP is an individual’s attitude or orientation toward planning for future involvement with work and family. Individuals with a more realistic attitude toward multiple role involvement are more likely to successfully manage a multiple role lifestyle. Exploratory factor analysis showed the multidimensionality of the ATMRP scale. The five dimensions were knowledge/certainty, commitment, independence, involvement and flexibility/compromise. The study examined the influence of cultural orientation i.e. gender role ideology, allocentrism and ideocentrism on their attitude toward planning for future work and family roles.

This master thesis deals with a data remote transmission by means of SMS and GPRS technology. The overview of current solutions is presented and then a remote temperature measurement and a data transmission employing a communication module GSM/GPRS TM1 through GSM network using GPRS technology is described. As a response to an impulse, the communication module sends SMS. The technical solution is described in details including HW and SW design of the data transfer and processing equipment using a ATmega 162 microprocessor. This equipment communicates with a server (PC), which displays the measured temperature. A prototype which was used for a validation of the design is also described.

Os óleos vegetais estão cada vez mais em evidência já que esses materiais renováveis e versáteis podem substituir derivados de petróleo para a síntese de novos polímeros. Como o óleo de linhaça é constituído principalmente de ácido a-linolênico, um ácido carboxilíco contendo 18 carbonos e três duplas ligações cis em sua cadeia, ele é considerado uma alternativa interessante para a síntese de poliésteres funcionalizados via metátese de trieno acíclico (ATMET). Nanopartículas poliméricas ori-undas de monômeros com baixa solubilidade em água, como o óleo de linhaça, podem ser obtidas por polimerização em miniemulsão, onde cada nanogota de monômero age como um nanoreator. Entretanto, é um desafio realizar as reações de metátese em miniemulsão devido a dois efeitos importantes e negativos no catalisador, que são a decomposição parcial do metilideno em água e a possível diminuição da atividade cata-lítica dependendo do tipo de surfactante utilizado na miniemulsão. No presente trabalho, uma série de polimerizações do óleo de linhaça via ATMET foram conduzidas, utilizando as técnicas de massa e miniemul-são, com o objetivo de estudar a atividade de diferentes tipos de catali-sadores baseados em rutênio (Grubbs 1ª e 2ª geração, Hoveyda-Grubbs 2ª geração e Umicore M2) em ambos os sistemas. Três diferentes surfac-tantes foram utilizados (CTAB, Tween 80 e Lutensol AT80) para as miniemulsões. Para obter massas molares mais altas foram aplicadas condições como vácuo e purga com nitrogênio. Os processos estudados resultaram em polímeros com massa molar média numérica (Mn) de até 6,3 kDa em massa e 5,8 kDa em miniemulsão, dependendo do catalisa-dor e do surfactante utilizados. A massa molar mais alta na reação em massa usando o catalisador Grubbs 1ª geração pode ser atribuída à par-cial decomposição de catalisadores rutênio-benzilidenos em água. Po-rém, os resultados de massas molares em miniemulsão são comparáveis aos em massa quando o catalisador Umicore M2 e o surfactante Luten-sol AT80 foram utilizados, indicando que esse catalisador é mais robus-to para sistemas aquosos e o surfactante não-iônico empregado não afeta a cinética das reações via ATMET.

Abstract : Plant oils are earning growing attention since these renewable and versatile materials could potentially replace petroleum derivatives materials for the synthesis of new polymers. As linseed oil mainly consists of a-linolenic acid, a carboxylic acid with an 18-carbon chain and three cis double bonds, could also be an interesting alternative for the synthesis of branched and functionalized polyesters via acyclic triene metathesis (ATMET). Polymer nanoparticles of monomers with very low solubility in water, such as linseed oil, can be obtained by miniemulsion polymerization wherein monomer nanodroplets act as a nanoreactors. However, it is a challenge to perform metathesis reactions in this system due to two important and negative effects of metathesis catalysts, specifically the partial ruthenium methylidene decomposition in water and the possible decrease of catalyst activity in miniemulsion depending on the type of the surfactant used. In the present work, a set of ATMET polymerizations reactions of linseed oil was performed in bulk and miniemulsion to evaluate the activity of different types of ruthenium-based catalysts (Grubbs 1st and 2nd generations, Hoveyda-Grubbs 2nd generation and Umicore M2) in both systems. Three different surfactants (Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, Tween 80 and Lutensol AT80) were evaluated in the miniemulsion reactions. In order to achieve higher molecular weights, vacuum or nitrogen purging were used. The studied processes produced polymers with number average molecular weight (Mn) up to 6.3 kDa in bulk and 5.8 kDa in miniemulsion, depending on the catalyst and the surfactant employed. Higher molecular weight observed in the reaction in bulk using Grubbs 1st generation catalyst may be attributed to partial Ru-benzylidene catalysts decomposition in water. Moreover, Mn results in miniemulsion polymerizations were found comparable to bulk reactions when Umicore M2 and Hoveyda-Grubbs 2nd generation catalysts and nonionic surfactants were used, indicating that these catalysts are more robust in the presence of water and that the non-ionic surfactants do not affect the kinetics of ATMET reactions.

This diploma thesis is dealing with the basic knowledge of the Electromagnetic compatibility. It’s concretely target on electromagnetic interference flowing from the application of electronic gas control by Honeywell company. Author compile the power control board with including software in language C. The next alternates of power control board with the separated microprocessor were designed for the more extended source detection. On these boards there were explored shielding surface features placed directly under the microprocessor. The application reducing the interference was designed in accordance to the rules finding out during this diploma thesis writing.

The technology in cellular phones, portable computing systems, intelligent- andconnected- devices are evolving in a high pace and in many cases these devices arerequired to operate in a low-power environment. The problem that continues toemerge, is the power consumption in microcontrollers and DSP devices. This issue hasover time become important to solve in order to maximize battery life. To ease thechoice of power efficient microcontrollers, controlled experiments were thereforeperformed with the Cortex-M4, this microcontroller was chosen because of theupgraded hardware, which has led to an appreciable change in both power- and speedefficiency compared to its predecessors.The conclusion presents important points, along with advantages and difficulties toconsider when implementing a DSP application. By comparing different optimizationswith the Floating Point Unit(FPU), Fixed-point and software Floating-point, the resultsshow that there are major differences in power consumption between these threeoptions. Depending on which option and optimization used then the powerconsumption can exceed over 70% more compared to the other options available.

The concept proposal of the RFID security terminal is described in this Master Thesis. The RFID identification and its usage are analyzed at first. The description of the selected fitting circuits, communication bus as well as its parameters follows. The practical realization, proposed module design and designed printed circuit board is described afterwards. Several problems found during activation phase are analyzed in the chapter describing the practical module realization. The problem resolution is mentioned as well. The practical prove of the real module parameters and differences compared to the designed values are described at the end of this Master Thesis.

Thesis deals with electronic ignition for a two-cylinder two-stroke engines. In the thesis is described the existing ignition system. In the thesis are described measurement options of the position ot the engine crankshaft. The ignition system is designed mainly for motor JAWA, CZ and motor Trabant. The design is focused on reliability of entire circuit. The main advantage of the entire proposed design is possibility to adjustable ignition curve, depending on several external parameters such as speed or temperature of the engine. The proposed ignition has been tested in vehicle Velorex.

AVR32 is a new processor architecture made by Atmel Norway, and in this thesis it has been used to make a control system platform. The hardware used in this platform is the STK1000, an AVR32 development board and an I/O-card. The I/O-card were developed as a part of the thesis. Software for the platform consists of I/O-card firmware, Linux device driver for the I/O-card and user mode drivers. The platform supports usage of Matlab Real-Time Workshop as a rapid prototyping tool, that generates code from graphical visualization of mathematical models. S-functions were created so Matlab Real-Time Workshop can control the I/O-card. The control system platform is documented in an user manual. This manual describes how to install development tools for the platform on a Linux or Windows computer, and how to use the it.

The first chapter of the master´s thesis deals with the analysis of problems indesigning of devices, which include individual steps of the designing of the device and the choice of the most suitable option. It deals with the analysis of the proposed assignment and requirements for this device, analysis of battery management chip that the device should be able to communicate with, analysis of the I2C/SMBus communication protocol which is used for communication between the device with the battery management chips and possibilities of communication of the device with computer. The second chapter deals with the communications via USB bus and the description of this communication. The next step is dedicated to the selection of a programmable microprocessor Atmel AT90USB1287, describes his pin configuration, the possibilities, describes the way of USB interface connection, the method of the I2C/SMBus interface connection and its protection. In the last part of the this chapter the thesis describes Atmel microcontroller programming, specifically describes how to program I2C/SMBus communication, USB communication and how to write a program to the microprocessor. The third chapter of the thesis deals with the design of a single device, and components like a scheme of the connection and the concept of functional realization of the communication with device. The fourth chapter deals with the development of the device itself. Describes the parts of final involvement and describes the parts of the final program for microprocessor, such as communication with SMBus device and communication through the USB bus. The fifth chapter is devoted to the development of communication applications in Java. This section describes the different elements of applications such as communication with USB devices, data storage and open for viewing. The last chapter presents the final device and the final communication application.

The aim of the study was to design, build and experimentally verify a programmable thermostat. The main control unit of the thermostat is an ATmega168 microcontroller which communicates via I2C bus with remote MAX6615 chips. They are used to measure temperature with a set of thermistors and control the flow of the hot water in the heating system. This work deals with issues of remote control through the I2C bus, servomotor steering, precision temperature measurement and describes the inner workings of the system. The next chapter includes a proposal for possible extension of the system. The last part contains the manual of the control menu structure and a brief description of the software.

This thesis describes the design and subsequent construction of a board computer for a motorbike, using a GPS module. Vehicle speed, distance travelled and the motor's rotations (RPM) are among the basic elements that are measured and shown. Furthermore, the mechanism allows one to measure and show the average consumption, the temperature of the surrounding environment as well as the motor's temperature, battery voltage, current time, and, with the help of the GPS module, the current GPS location of the vehicle, including altitude. The vehicle's entire journey can be saved to the memory card for further processing in a PC.

I detta projekt undersöker vi om man kan bygga en maskinaktivitetssensor med

hjälp av en enkretsdator som genom en accelerometer mäter en maskins

vibrationer. Sensorn skall generera en statussignal. Accelerometern ger en

mätbar signal baserad på maskinens vibrationer. Enkretsdatorn används för att

sampla, transformera och analysera signalen och generera statusinformation.

Med LabView kan vi spara, studera och analysera olika signaler och olika

transformer. Vi studerar maskinvibrationer i LabView och beslutar att 5 kHz

sampling räcker för att fånga intressanta vibrationer. Vi jämför transformers

egenskaper och beräkningskrav och väljer Fouriertransform som analysmetod.

Vi beräknar att en Atmel ARM SAM7S256 kan utföra uppgiften och

implementerar interruptbaserad signalsampling, frekvensanalys och en

beslutsrutin som resulterar i en utsignal med statusinformation.


In this project we examine the possibility to create a machine activity sensor by

a one-chip computer that measures a machines vibrations through an

accelerometer. The sensor shall generate a status signal. The accelerometer is

used to give a measurable signal of a machines vibrations. The one-chip

computer is used to sampel, transform and analyze this signal and generate a

status signal. With LabView we can save, study and analyze different signals

and their different transforms. By studying machine vibrations in LabView we

decide that sampling at 5 kHz is sufficient. By comparing different

transformations in regards to performance and calculation needs we choose

Fast Fourier Transform as analyzing tool. We calculate that a ARM

SAM7S256 can manage the task and implement an interrupt based sampling,

frequency analysis and decision making routine which results in a status signal.

Today, more and more embedded hardware devices are reaching the market and consumers with a demand for smaller and better devices than yesterday. Increasing the performance of a device decreases the operating time since more power is consumed, still, decreasing the size of the device also decreases operating time as the battery size decreases.To allow the performance to increase and the size of the device to decrease, the designer must nd techniques allowing the hardware to consume less power during normal usage of a device than during the peak usage.In this thesis an implementation of an ARM based microprocessor system is presented and used for measuring and evaluation of the power consumption possibilities of the system.

This report describes the development of a sample loader for my diploma work at Q-linea AB in Uppsala. The sample loader will replace the process of loading fluid samples into Q-linea’s instrument for biomolecule analysis. The earlier process was done by hand and was a time consuming and inefficient task. The work was initiated with a design phase where an overview of the system was created. The sample loader will be receiving text commands from a PC that coordinates all the subsystems like pumps and lasers on the analysis instrument. The commands will be translated by a microcontroller into the correct movement of the samples needed to load them. Most of the work was put down into developing the software responsible for handling communications and actuation of a couple of stepper motors. Lastly a circuit board was designed and manufactured, ready to be mounted into the existing instrument. The result was a working prototype which now is used in the daily work at Q-linea. It is subject for further development and in the future it will be shipped as a part of the finished biomolecular analysis instrument from Q-linea.

Il sistema di acquisizione dati del nuovo layer IBL di ATLAS conta attualmente 15 schede ROD attive sull’esperimento. In ognuna di queste schede sono presenti due catene JTAG per la programmazione e il test. La prima catena è facilmente accessibile da remoto tramite uno standard VME o Ethernet, mentre la seconda è accessibile solo tramite un programmatore JTAG. Accedere alla catena secondaria di tutte 15 le ROD è in primo luogo sconveniente poiché sarebbero necessari 15 programmatori diversi; in secondo luogo potrebbe risultare difficoltoso doverli gestire tutti da un unico computer. Nasce così l’esigenza di sviluppare un’elettronica aggiuntiva con funzione di controllo che riesca, tramite un unico programmatore, a distribuire un segnale JTAG in ingresso a 15 uscite selezionabili in maniera esclusiva. In questa tesi vengono illustrati i vari passaggi che hanno portato alla realizzazione del progetto ponendo attenzione alla scelta, al funzionamento e all’eventuale programmazione dei componenti elettronici che lo costituiscono. Per ogni parte è stato realizzato un ambiente hardware di prototipazione che ne ha garantito il test delle funzionalità. La scheda, basata su un microcontrollore ATmega 328-P, è attualmente in fase di completamento nel laboratorio di progettazione elettronica dell’INFN di Bologna. Il prototipo studiato e realizzato tramite il lavoro di questa tesi verrà anche utilizzato in ambiente CERN una volta che ne sarà convalidata l’affidabilità e potrà anche essere facilmente adattato a tutti gli esperimenti che usano un protocollo JTAG per la programmazione di dispositivi remoti.

This paper describes complete design of timer for RC models. Described timer has three PWM outputs. With these outputs it is possible to connect two independent servo-motors and engine controller. 1 signal. The whole is controlled by 8-bit microprocessor. The time records are stored in external EEPROM, that can be programmed using I2C. Paper further discuss design of programming, which can be easily programmed the memory of EEPROM by the PC or smartphone. The thesis deals with the design and implementation of smart house lighting. In the living parts of the house, the light intensity is maintained at a constant level which is set by the user. The intensity of lighting can be set manually for each room from a central module with a user interface. It can also be changed by any remote control directly in the room in which the user is currently located. When the remote control is used, the information about the change of light intensity is transmitted to the central module. For communication between the central module and the luminaires, the existing power lines are used.
