The paper deals with the justification of the need to use an asynchronous traction electric drive on the metro rolling stock. The advantages of using an asynchronous traction electric drive in comparison with a DC commutator motor drive are formulated. The characteristics of modern innovative metro rolling stock with asynchronous traction electric drive of domestic and foreign production are analyzed. Aspects of the choice of a variable frequency asynchronous traction electric drive for innovative rolling stock are formulated and the existing typical algorithm of such choice is given. The main reasons for the irrational choice of traction asynchronous electric drive for the metro rolling stock are considered and the consequences of such a choice are analyzed. It is proposed to improve the methodology for selecting a variable frequency traction asynchronous electric drive for the metro rolling stock in terms of such an important operational factor as the specific cost of electrical energy for traction. The rational parameters of the variable frequency asynchronous traction electric drive according to the proposed procedure for the specified characteristics of the metro rolling stock are specified. The reserves of energy savings for the given conditions due to the introduction of an asynchronous traction electric drive with rational parameters on the innovative rolling stock are determined. It is established that the efficiency factor of the asynchronous traction motor significantly affects the specific electric energy consumption for the metro rolling stock traction and operating costs.

The article deals with investigation of electromechanical and energetic characteristics of traction electric drive with vector systems of direct torque control. As a controlled object the traction asynchronous motor ДТА-1У1, which is used to drive the trolley-bus is considered. At the present time the usage of traction asynchronous electric drives for town transport is relevant. Due to development of power electronic devices and microprocessor-based control systems it became possible to replace DC electric drives with electric drives with asynchronous motors. The article contains brief description of two different types of control systems: field-oriented control (FOC) and direct torque control (DTC). Principles of work for both systems are considered and the main advantages and disadvantages associated with the use of these systems are pointed out. The models of both systems for traction asynchronous electric drive, built in modeling environment MATLAB/Simulink, are given in this article for further comparative analysis. As the main quality factor of control total harmonic distortion (THD) is used.

Анотація:
One of the assumptions made during the modernization process of diesel shunting locomotives is the replacement of a diesel traction motor with a DC generator with an electric asynchronous traction motor. The article aimed to develop a method of selecting energy-efficient parameters of an asynchronous electric traction motor for diesel shunting locomotives, which will ensure that its operating energy efficiency will be as high as possible. The method was verified on the example of a locomotive series ChME3 (ЧMЭ3, ČME3, ČKD S200). It has been found that using a traction asynchronous electric drive on a ChME3 locomotive, its efficiency increases in comparison with DC electric motors by 3–5% under the long-term operation modes and by 7–10% during locomotive operation with traction at the adhesion limit. Using a new traction gearbox with a higher gear ratio expands the speed range in which the asynchronous traction drive operates with a high-efficiency factor. It is effective to use a traction asynchronous electric drive to modernize ChME3 diesel locomotives in case of their use under the modes requiring the implementation of maximum traction forces at low speeds. A further increase in the efficiency of the traction asynchronous electric drive is possible based on the optimal design of the wheel-motor unit and the asynchronous traction electric drive.

The article examines curves controlling asynchronous traction motors increasingly used in locomotive electric drives the main task of which is to create a tractive effort‐speed curve of an ideal locomotive Fk = f(v), including a hyperbolic area the curve of which will create conditions showing that energy created by the diesel engine of diesel locomotives (electric locomotives and in case of electric trains, electricity taken from the contact network) over the entire range of locomotive speed is turned into efficient work. Mechanical power on wheel sets is constant Pk = Fkv = const, the power of the diesel engine is fully used over the entire range of locomotive speed. Tractive effort‐speed curve Fk(v) shows the dependency of locomotive traction power Fk on movement speed v. The article presents theoretical and practical aspects relevant to creating the structure of locomotive electric drive and selecting optimal control that is especially relevant to creating the structure of locomotive electric drive using ATM (asynchronous traction motor) that gains special popularity in traction rolling stock replacing DC traction motors having low reliability. __e frequency modes of asynchronous motor speed regulation are examined. To control ATM, the authors suggest the method of vector control presenting the structural schemes of a locomotive with ATM and control algorithm.

Electric locomotives with asynchronous traction drive are operated on the Russian road network in passenger and freight traffic. The advantage of such a drive is a large specific power. At first glance, electricity consumption of an electric locomotive with asynchronous traction drive should be less than that of an electric locomotive with a collector traction drive. The same is declared by manufacturers of traction rolling stock [1, 2]. But the answer to the question which electric locomotive is more economical in freight traffic: with a collector or asynchronous traction drive? - is far from being unambiguous [3, 4, 5]. In order to determine which electric locomotives have the best energy efficiency regarding the traction drive, a comparison of electric energy costs for traction of freight trains by electric locomotives of the VL80S series with collector traction drive, operated in two- and three-section versions, and a promising two-section electric locomotive of the 2ES7 series with asynchronous traction drive was performed. The energy efficiency assessment was carried out using methods based on elements of mathematical statistics and probability theory, including estimation of the distribution parameters of the studied quantities, statistical hypothesis testing and variance analysis. This article presents the main results of the research carried out at the testing area of the Gorky Railway during the pilot operation of the 2ES7 series electric locomotive on the Druzhinino - Vekovka section.

The issues of development of traction drives of locomotives are considered. It was found that with the existing limitations of the traction force and the speed of continuous operation, asynchronous traction motors do not have clear advantages over collector motors. The possibility of creating collector motors for electric locomotives with a power equal to the used asynchronous ones has been proved, new technical solutions have been proposed for units that ensure the reliability of the latter when using high-torque motors (elastic gearwheel with chevron teeth, two-layer rubber-metal hinge, rubber-cord clutch options), as an optimal solution for the drive with collector motors, it is proposed to use a drive with a support frame motor and an axial gearbox. The directions of research necessary for the practical implementation of drives with a high-torque traction motor are determined, it is proposed to conduct research on the feasibility of creating diesel locomotives with bogies, unified with electric locomotives. The proposed solutions received two patents for inventions, eight patents for utility models, two patent applications were filed.

The analysis of operating conditions of traction drives of electric locomotives with asynchronous traction motors has been carried out. It was found that during operation in the output converter of an asynchronous motor, defects may occur, which leads to asymmetric modes of its operation. Models of a traction drive of an electric locomotive with asynchronous motors with scalar and vector control of the output converter are proposed, taking into account asymmetric operating modes. As a result of the simulation, the starting characteristics of the traction drive were obtained for various control methods both in normal and emergency modes of the drive. For the drive-in emergency mode, the following cases were investigated: the balance of the converter output voltages and the turn-to-turn circuit of 10% of phase A winding of the motor stator; imbalance of the output voltages of the inverter and an intact motor; imbalance of the output voltages of the converter and interturn short circuit of 10% of phase A winding of the motor stator. Comparison of the simulation results have shown that in emergency modes in the traction drive, the torque ripple on the motor shaft in the drive with vector control is 13% less, and in scalar control, the phase current unbalance coefficient is 22% less. The results of this work can be used to study the influence of the output converter control methods on the energy efficiency indicators of the traction drive of an AC electric locomotive.

This paper deals with the analysis of the operating conditions of traction drives of the electric locomotives with asynchronous traction motors. The process of change of the catenary system voltage was found to have a stochastic character. The method of current controller synthesis based on the Wiener–Hopf equation was proposed to enable efficient performance of the traction drive control system under the condition of the stochastic nature of the catenary system voltage and the presence of interferences, when measuring the stator current values of the tractor motor. Performance simulation of the proposed current controller and the current controller used in the existing vector control systems of the traction drives used in the electric locomotives was implemented. The results of the performance simulation of the proposed current controller were compared with the performance of the current controller in existing vector control systems of the traction drives. The results are applicable to the design of vector control systems of traction drives in electric locomotives and to the study of the influence of performance of electric traction drives in electric locomotives on the quality indicators of the power supplied by the traction power supply system under the actual operating conditions of the locomotive.

The issue of determining the traction and energy characteristics of electric rolling stock with asynchronous traction drive is considered. It is noted that such rolling stock can work at any point of the traction area, resulting in the need to determine the characteristics of the rolling stock for the entire traction area. The calculation of the characteristics of the traction induction motor, which are the basis for determining the traction and energy characteristics of the electric rolling stock, is considered in detail. A procedure based on the calculation of the replacement circuit of an induction motor is proposed. The calculation of power losses due to higher harmonic voltages and currents is considered. An example of calculation of traction and energy characteristics of an DC electric shunting locomotive with a traction asynchronous electric drive is given.

Abstract An estimate of the Russian railways expenses level for the purchase of fuel and energy resources is given. It is shown the costs for the purchase of electric energy for train traction account for more than half of the total costs. In this regard, the problem of increasing the traction rolling stock energy efficiency seems certainly relevant. The diagram of voltage and current measurements at the primary winding of the AC cargo electric locomotive transformer is given. The experimental data processing algorithm is proposed. A comparative analysis of the results obtained for electric locomotives with series-wound brushed DC motors (throughout what follows will be denoted as BTMs) and asynchronous traction motors (will be denoted as ATMs) showed that the power factor of the asynchronous drive is higher: 0.99, compared to 0.65 for the drive with BTMs; and the coefficient of nonlinear current distortions is only 0.15, compared to 0.53 for the BTMs. The conclusion is made about higher efficiency of electric energy conversion process in asynchronous traction drive in trust mode.

Abstract Based on the operating conditions analysis of electric traction drives of locomotives, it has been established that the vector control systems for an asynchronous motor fully satisfy all the requirements. On the basis of a T-shaped equivalent circuit, a mathematical model of an induction motor is presented, taking into account losses in the stator steel, the effect of the rotor current and saturation displacement. An algorithm for the formation of the optimal, from the point of view of power losses, task for the rotor flux linkage when using a vector control system with the orientation of the axes of the coordinate system along the rotor magnetic field, is developed. The limiting factors are the limitations on the current and voltage of the motor stator, the diesel generator set power. A shared control system for an electric traction drive with asynchronous motors has been developed, which provides direct control of wheel slip with a subordinate vector control system that minimizes power losses. The results of modeling in a steady-state operation and a start-up mode for an electric traction drive of a two-axle bogie with axial support and 630 kW asynchronous motors with the use of various options for organizing circuit reentrances are presented.

In the paper there are presented and tested energy-efficient algorithms of asynchronous drive control with the system of moment direct control on the basis of simulation. The algorithms are directed to the reduc-tion of stator current consumption and also to the maximum use of an engine on heating and power. With purpose of energy saving the electric drive system with direct moment control is supplied additionally with a special setting device of a stator flux linkage where the dependence of a stator flux linkage upon the moment of an asynchronous drive necessary to support an optimum angle between momentforming vectors is realized. A functional scheme of the system of an energy effective doublearea control of an asynchronous drive velocity with the direct control of a moment and an adjustable capacity limitation reflecting principles of functioning and an interrelation of system basic units is shown. To check-up the solutions offered there is developed a model of a traction electric drive system in the basic library of the bundled software Matlab Simulink, the results of its modeling confirm the effectiveness in the application of energy saving algorithms allowing the reduction of current consumption of the asynchronous traction electric drive by 7-10%

This paper presents a methodology of tests of traction asynchronous drives applied in electric vehicles. It is similar to Urban Driving Cycle ECE-15 (UDC). The objective of the research is to verify the developed methodology through tests performed on a laboratory simulator, which consists of energy-saving asynchronous motor controlled by a frequency inverter (converter). Vector Control on the drive is used for smooth speed regulation over a wide range at high values of efficiency and power factor. Contemporary measuring and control devices and special software products are used for capturing the dynamic characteristics when starting, stopping and changing the speed set point of the drive. Some of tests are presented and an experimental verification of the developed methodology is made. An optimal setting of the drive parameters can be made to minimize the electric energy consumption.

The article discusses the solution to the problem of underground railway transport slipping in dynamic modes, which occurs when there is a significant difference in the speeds of the driving and driven pairs of wheels. The state of the rail surfaces largely determines the coefficient of adhesion, therefore, using a mathematical model, the condition for the dependence of the magnitude of slipping and tractive effort is selected. For effective acceleration and deceleration of an electric locomotive, it is necessary to control the coefficient of adhesion at a certain level. A simulation model of rolling stock has been created, which for the first time takes into account a mechanical system with distributed parameters. In the structural diagram of the automatic control system of traction electric drives with frequency regulation, such factors as the volume of goods being moved, rolling friction, slope (rise) levels and the state of the rail track are taken into account. The simulation results show the features of the movement and stops of the freight train not only by the diagrams of speed and forces in the modes of acceleration-deceleration and uniform movement, but also the positions of the plungers and tractive forces on the couplings of the electric locomotive and all trolleys involved in the movement of goods. The practical application of the proposed method lies in the possibility of starting a heavily laden train from its place on the ascent section in conditions of insufficient adhesion coefficient with contaminated roads.

Objective: The assessment of energy effectiveness of traction drives for carriages of rolling stock models 81-765/766/767 and 81-556/557/558 (“NEVA”) from various producers and drafting technical requirements for drive electric equipment. Stock 81-765/766/767 uses asynchronous engine of 170 kW wattage and 43 Hz field rated frequency, 81-556/557/558 — 167 kW with 70 Hz rated frequency. Methods: The comparative analysis of drive energy indicators of trains with asynchronous electric drives has been accomplished in accordance with the calculation methodology. Measuring section was set in accordance with GOST P 50850-96. There are defined the assumptions at motion of rolling stock with equal maximal acceleration in a runaway and maximal deceleration in a braking and constant deceleration in a run-out. Maximal acceleration and deceleration were calculated incompliance adhesion set coefficient, grip weight (mass of motor cars) and moment of inertia. The calculation by method of analytical integration of motion differential equation was held on runaway five intervals. Initial technical data of trains with rated load as well as calculated indicators at train motion on measuring section were accepted. Diagrams of train motion on section were built and comparative analysis of characteristics of stock carriage models 81-765/766/767 and 81-556/557/558 (“NEVA”) was pursued. Results: It was established during the comparison that engine overload by torque on shaft is the same with 1.5 coefficient to rated torque. Stocks have significantly different indicators as by unit expenses as well as by motion dynamics. It’s been also established that for to minimize energy costs for traction it’s required to develop maximally allowable deceleration at braking and maximally allowable acceleration at runaway. Practical importance: The necessity of entry into Technical Task for new rolling stock of the requirement on stock check on runaway possibility with maximal set acceleration.

To determine, using mathematical simulation, the time indexes of traction drive readiness to the electrical braking in case of no voltage in catenary system. Methods: Mathematical model of traction drive is built in Matlab Simulink software. By using this model the empirical relations of the time from the moment of command input, made by the control system, to start an emergency braking, to the moment of charging of input capacitors to nominal voltage (in case of no voltage in catenary system) from the train speed and equivalent resistance of stator circuit were obtained. Results: The problems, preventing the implementation of electrical brake for MVPS as an automatic brakes, are examined. The methods of solving these problems are suggested. By using the mathematical model the principal possibility of suggested methods is presented, as well as the estimation of the time of traction drive preparing for readiness for braking, depending on the train speed and equivalent resistance of stator circuit. Also, the engineering solutions, are found, that allow to implement the electrical brake for multiple unit rolling stock as an automatic one. Practical importance: Electrical for brake multiple unit rolling stock with asynchronous traction drive has several benefits in comparison with the pneumatic brake. It provides smaller braking distance, not influenced by low temperatures and provides better resistance for sliding and skidding. Implementation of electrical brakes for multiple unit rolling stock in the function of automatic brake will positively influence on the safety of operation and will allow to increase the operating speed of multiple unit rolling stock.

The development of transport infrastructure of large cities with high population density and development should be carried out on the basis of innovative technical solutions, that allow to simplify the conditions of laying of tracks, reduce the cost of construction, reduce noise, provide comfort to passengers and reduce the cost of operating rolling stock. One such solution, the effectiveness of which is confirmed by foreign experience, is the use of linear asynchronous traction drive (LATD) in urban rail and maglev transport systems. This, in particular, allows to increase the allowable value of slope paths to 6065, reduce the vertical dimensions of rolling stock to 3.15 m, reduce the diameter of the tunnel by 2530%. The release of the wheel pair from the function of the implementation of traction effort makes it possible to apply on the wagons the articulated semi-frames of trolleys, that ensures better rolling stock in curves, and as a result - less wear of wheels and rails and less noise. This article analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of LATD compared to the traction drive of traditional execution, considers variants of constructive performance of linear induction motors (LIM), processes of electromechanical energy conversion in LIM, the option of building a LATD control system is presented. The article examines the flat LIM, which have found use in the transport systems of major cities in Asia and America. The processes of energy conversion in LIM are distinguished by the presence of a longitudinal edge effect, which determines the distortion of the resulting magnetic field, which is manifested in the reduction of induction and the displacement of the peak of the induction distribution curve to the escaping edge of the inductor. This effect is particularly manifested in high-speed LIMs with high quality. When the linearity of the magnetic environment is allowed, the resulting electromagnetic force of the LIM can be considered as the sum of electromagnetic forces created by the main field, as well as the direct and reverse fields of the longitudinal edge effect. The edge effects reduce efficiency and power ratio of LIM. The article discusses ways to compensate for the edge effects, as well as an overview of the world experience of the use of LATD in rail and maglev transport systems. The advantages of LATD and the world experience of its use suggest that for urban transport systems at speeds of up to 100-120 km/h this drive can be a real competition to traditional urban rail systems.

The author showed that it was possible to reduce the exhaust gases toxicity and increase tractors effi ciency using an electric power unit to implement traction. The effi ciency of modern electric motors was at its peak of 96 percent, compared to 45 for a diesel engine. He emphasized that this parameter for modern sources of electrical energy was 85-90 percent, which opened up opportunities for the implementation of an electric tractor.(Research purpose) To present the general concept of an electric drive power unit for a tractor of a small traction class and to evaluate its parameters as a fi rst approximation.(Materials and methods) For the tractor’s electric drive lithium-ion batteries were chosen as a source of electrical energy, showing the best characteristics of energy intensity – 432-864 kilojoule per kilogram with a unit cost of 4200-17400 rubles per kilogram. During the analyses of the power unit drive types, a D-120 diesel engine with a power of 20 kilowatt, a DC electric motor and an asynchronous motor with similar parameters were studied. The VTZ-2032 tractor with a nominal tractive eff ort of 600 Newtons when working on stubble was taken as the basis for the calculation.(Results and discussion) The author determined the best indicators of the electric drive by the power characteristics fullness in the gears with a decrease in unit costs per kWh from 24 to 15-16 rubles.(Conclusions) The most effi cient engine was determined – a brushless DC electric motor. The author calculated that the specifi c cost of its energy was 1.5-1.8 times less than that of a diesel engine, and amounted to 15-27 rubles per kilowatt-hour with a maximum effi ciency of 95 percent. It was found that lithium-ion batteries would be the optimal solution for powering the electric drive. They were distinguished by a high specifi c energy consumption – 432-864 kilojoule per kilogram – and a low price per energy unit, amounting to 5-45 rubles per kilojoule.

Continuous transport systems, including rope conveyors designed to move people and goods, are subject to very strict safety and energy efficiency requirements. As a rule, suspended cableways in operation have an unregulated electric drive with a smooth start system. Among the ways to meet these requirements is the use of modern regulated electric drives. The electromechanical system with a vector-controlled asynchronous electric motor is considered in the work. Based on the obtained model, within the framework of the MATLAB / Simulink application package, an investigation of the dynamic characteristics of the cableway electric drive was carried out. An analysis of the nature of the distribution of dynamic error in terms of speed and energy losses depending on the load and speed of movement of the rope traction element of the transport system is given. The results presented in the article make it possible to choose rational electric drives for continuous transport systems with rope traction elements. References 5, figures 5, table.

The article provides a brief overview of the development and application of automatic control systems for subway trains. Modern automatic locomotive signaling systems featuring automatic speed control with signal transmission based on double-phase-diff erence modulation are analyzed. The introduction of electric rolling stock with an asynchronous traction drive and advanced train traffi c automation and remote control systems at the St. Petersburg Metro initiates the drive to ensure their electromagnetic compatibility. For the subway train traffi c automation and remote control systems, there have been no acceptance criteria for electromagnetic interference that occur in their operating range when electric rolling stock with an asynchronous traction drive is put into operation. The article identifi es the main sources of conducted electromagnetic interference and the routes of their penetration into the receive path of automatic locomotive signaling devices with automatic speed control. A method is proposed for determining the limits of hazardous and interfering eff ects (immunity limits) for automatic train signaling systems with automatic speed regulation of the systems of the BARS automatic speed control unit with phase-diff erence modulation and the upgraded PA-M (ПА-М) train automation with phase-diff erence modulation for the St. Petersburg Metro lines. A method is given for the transition from the immunity limits of automatic locomotive signaling systems with automatic speed control to the emission limits of electric rolling stock at diff erent traction current unbalance factors. A technique for measuring traction current at high-potential points on electric rolling stock is considered. A technique for assessing the levels of conducted electromagnetic interference from electric rolling stock by calculating the eff ective value in a sliding window of a pre-fi ltered traction current signal of an electric rolling stock is presented.

Currently, an asynchronous variable frequency drive based on semiconductor converters is widely used due to the relative simplicity and reliability of the design. The use of digital microprocessor systems ensures high accuracy and flexibility of drive control. On the domestic rolling stock, the widespread introduction of asynchronous motors began to replace DC traction motors with sequential excitation. In particular, scalar-controlled asynchronous motors are used on serially produced 2TE25A diesel locomotives and EP20 electric locomotives. The auxiliary asynchronous machines of these locomotives are controlled by the vector control method. The use of a new type of engine on the rolling stock makes it possible to achieve a significant increase in the quality of consumed energy and reduce the consumption of electricity for traction of trains. Ensuring the energy efficiency of the drive in a wide range of loads requires further research. In this regard, the issue of saving energy resources becomes very urgent. The article proposes a vector control scheme for asynchronous motors of auxiliary machines of an electric locomotive, which implements an extreme method of control according to the criterion of minimizing the consumed current. The analysis of the engine operation is carried out based on its mathematical model in a rotating coordinate system d — q, which is implemented in the MatLab/Simulink software package. As a result of simulation modeling, it was found that the extreme control system with a variable step allows for each fixed value of the electromagnetic moment of the motor in the minimum time to find the optimal (extreme) value of the magnetic flux of the motor rotor, which corresponds to the minimum value of the stator current. The developed model of the motor with vector control is supplemented with an extreme regulator device, which allows achieving the best energy performance of the motor and reducing electrical losses in all operating modes with a minimum search time. The presented research results can be used in the development of energy-saving control systems for an asynchronous motor.

Rail transit plays an important role in the social and economic life of China and even all countries in the world, especially some populous countries or regions. The traction drive system of rail vehicle provides three-phase AC with adjustable voltage and frequency for the traction motor, controls the speed and torque of the traction motor, and then controls the operation of the vehicle. The modular multilevel converter has the advantages of low harmonic, good power quality of output waveform, high reliability, no input filtering and power compensation, and is suitable in the field of frequency conversion. In this work, the open-loop scalar control and vector closed-loop control of modular multi-level high-voltage inverter were adopted. It was found that driven by modular multi-level variable frequency vector control system, asynchronous motor not only has less harmonic content of voltage and current waveform, but also its speed regulation characteristics have been improved.

Introduction. The development of power semiconductor devices and technology served the basis for fundamentally new types of frequency-controlled electric drives with traction asynchronous motors on the rolling stock of electrified railways. Therefore, problems of theoretical and experimental study of the operating modes of the mentioned drives become actual. This article is a theme continuation of the asynchronous machines control on the AC locomotive, which was presented in no. 5 of Russian Railway Scientific Journal in 2021.Materials and methods. For analysing the frequency converter operation, the authors used mathematical modeling methods, which allowed evaluating the motor operation in various modes without resorting to time-consuming full-scale tests. Recently, software packages for visual programming have been developed, aimed mainly at domestic users, which are not inferior in their capabilities to leading foreign counterparts. Among such software products is SimInTech software for modeling technical systems, developed by 3V Service. The software focuses on solving various applied problems, particularly, on modeling a vector control system for an asynchronous drive.Results. The authors developed a mathematical model of an asynchronous drive of auxiliary machines of an electric locomotive in a rotating coordinate system d – q by the SimInTech application package and concerning the cross-impact influence of d and q control channels.Discussion and conclusion. The developed complex of an asynchronous motor and a vector control system enable to work out various algorithms for improving the energy efficiency of the operation of asynchronous auxiliary machines of an electric locomotive by applying the proposed algorithm for choosing the optimal value of the rotor flux linkage. The presented vector control structure also enables to implement it on the basis of modern microcontrollers, helping to reduce programming time.

The purpose of the study is to search for rational engineering solutions for the main autonomous locomotive for the Eastern range of OAO Russian Railways. Research methods: methods of physical and field experiments, analytical methods for calculating the dynamics of the rolling stock. Research results and novelty: it is established that the use of a four-axle truck of a diesel locomotive TEM7 does not allow to create a locomotive that meets all the requirements of OAO Russian Railways, and the design of truck TEM7 is irrational for mainline locomotives; it is proved that the one-sided arrangement of brake blocks leads to deterioration in the locomotive braking properties. The bearing and axial towline, despite the use of an asynchronous engine, has an unsprung mass 1.5 times greater than that of the previously produced domestic analogue with a collector engine and almost the same mass of the wheel-motor unit; dynamic moments in the drive due to the lack of elastic elements during prolonged operation can reach 56% of the traction torque, which worsens the traction properties of the locomotive. Conclusion: it is advisable to carry out a design study of the drive variant with a support-frame asynchronous traction engine and an axial gearbox, as well as to conduct a technical and economic analysis and design study of a cheaper version of a diesel locomotive with sections on three two-axle bogies, maximally unified with electric locomotives, with a booster tanker module and AC-DC transmission with axial regulation of eight-pole collector motors with support-frame suspension.

Abstract The purpose of the work is to justify the need for a smooth start of the conveyor belt. Based on the technological features of the transportation process, the direct start of the conveyor with a loaded undercarriage entails an increase in inertial forces, overload of the traction chains and the drive. Due to the increased starting torque, there is a danger of slipping, the occurrence of an oscillatory transient of the escaping branch of the tape, slipping between the tape and the drive drum. This leads to significant wear of the tape and breakdowns of other equipment, which requires high repair costs. With a smooth start of the conveyor, the acceleration lasts longer, but the movement of the concentrated masses of the belt is more consistent, less oscillatory, which indicates less dynamic forces in the belt. Also, with a smooth start, energy losses in the engine and its heating are reduced. The main results of the work - the transients in the currents of the stator and rotor, in the speed of rotation of the motor and in the speed of movement of the conveyor belt were obtained. The developed model allows us to investigate the dynamic operating modes of the engine and the mechanical part of the conveyor, to analyze the forces arising in the belt during direct and smooth start of the conveyor, to evaluate the slip of the belt and the magnitude of the traction factor. Conclusions - the results of this work should be the basis for controlling the tension in the belt and maintaining the traction factor of the conveyor belt in the start-brake operating modes. In addition, the results obtained can be used in the development of a belt speed control system depending on the amount of random freight traffic entering the conveyor.

The issue of interfering influence of traction vehicles on railway traffic control systems is a serious problem posing a threat to railway traffic safety. This issue is gaining in importance as more and more vehicles equipped with traction inverters are put into service. Current harmonics generated by traction vehicles equipped with voltage source inverters can be controlled in such a way that they do not exceed the limits imposed by railway operators. One of the current harmonic control techniques, proposed by the authors, is the use of a combination of SHE (Selective Harmonic Elimination) and SHM (Selective Harmonic Mitigation) techniques to control the traction voltage source inverter. In this article, the author present the results of investigations on the influence of supply voltage fluctuations on the efficiency of shaping techniques of the current harmonic spectra taken from the DC network by VSI traction drive system, using the SHE and SHM modulation techniques. Regarding the fact that in 3 kV DC electric traction systems, fluctuations of the vehicle's supplying voltage are accepted in a wide range, it is necessary to determine the influence of voltage changes on the proposed modulation techniques. The research object is a simulation model of traction drive which consisting of an asynchronous motor fed by a voltage source inverter. The simulation model was verified by the means of measurements performed at a low scale laboratory stand. Analysis of the tested techniques when supplying voltage is fluctuating, allows to evaluate their usefulness in real operating conditions. The results obtained for SHE and SHM techniques were compared with SPWM modulation.

The analysis and systematization of research methods of thermal state of induction motors including traction ones is done. It is shown that for each type of motor it is necessary to develop its own mathematical model of thermal processes, and its verification should be carried out only on the basis of experimental investigations. The structure and operating principles of the complex developed physical model of the traction electric drive with induction motors is represented. The motors have a cooling system with variable-speed electric fan and subsystem of measurement and recording of monitored parameters. The method and the results of experimental study of the processes of heating and cooling of the induction motor are illustrated. Transfer functions and approximation curves of transients are proposed, their parameters are defined.

<span lang="EN-US">Many researches have been dedicated to develop the induction motor drive control strategy used on the railway traction applications. In this paper we propose to investigate and to improve the electric locomotives by using a Field Oriented Control (FOC) strategy of induction motor drive. This induction motor can be powered by a five-stage neutral point inverter controlled by sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) due to good quality for output voltage and The use of fast switches. Both conventional and improved locomotives are simulated in Matlab/Simulink and compared in open loop conditions and closed loop conditions using IP controller, in term of torque response, current harmonic distortions and rotor speed response.</span>

The article is devoted to the design of an asynchronous traction motor intended for work as part of an electric drive of vehicles: electric vehicles, electric buses, trams, trolley buses. The object of the study is a medium-sized bus. The required traction characteristics of the electric motor are constructed, the nominal and limiting characteristics of the increased torque. The dynamic characteristics have been built for a bus with a mechanical transmission and a diesel engine, as well as for a bus with an electric motor. A method is proposed for designing an electric motor based on mathematical modelling of its operation in the software complexes ANSYS RMxprt and INFOLYTICA MAGNET. According to this technique, the main parameters of the electric motor are determined. The results of modelling are given, graphs of the criteria dependence on the electric motor parameters. Experimental studies of the electric motor have been carried out. The results of mathematical modelling are compared with experimental ones. It was found that the discrepancy between the results of experimental and theoretical studies is no more than 5 %.

The article deals with the analysis of reliability of the equipment of 2ES10 electric locomotives with asynchronous traction motors as a complex system and equipment failures that are often encountered during operation. All submitted failures are divided by type of equipment. Based on the Pareto analysis, the main limiting units of these electric locomotives with the lowest reliability are determined. Based on the Pareto analysis, the frequently failing elements of the main limiting components are determined, which are the mechanical part, wheel pairs, brake equipment, traction drive and traction motors. These elements have a major impact on the safety of train traffic and therefore it is extremely important to constantly assess the condition of these elements. Attention is focused on the analysis of risks associated with the possible formation of operational failures, the system of planned preventive maintenance, methods and tools for assessing reliability, incorrect regulatory and documentation support and fixing operational defects, and their subsequent processing. Such a study makes it possible to improve the safety of the transportation process by careful monitoring of the most vulnerable areas of the rolling stock. This reveals the prefailure state before it occurs. The results of the study can be used as a basis for adjusting the current structure of the repair cycle in terms of reducing inter-repair runs.

The paper is concerned with the problems associated with starting a long conveyor driven by an induction motor. We consider the dynamic loads in the conveyor belt during start-up, which cause slippage of the conveyor belt on the traction drum leading to its premature deterioration. The relevance of the topic is associated with the high cost of the conveyor belt reaching 60% of the cost of the entire conveyor and more. The aim of the work is to ascertain the possibilities of reducing the wear of the conveyor belt, for example, through the use of the possibilities provided by the system of the electric drive. The possibility of reducing the probability of the conveyor belt slippage by increasing the initial belt tension is noted. However, constant high tension also accelerates belt deterioration. To solve this problem, the use of automatic tension control devices is proposed, as well as the reduction of dynamic loads in the belt by using soft starters based on a thyristor voltage converter, which regulates the amplitude of voltage on the motor stator. The features of an asynchronous motor heating when starting with a constant speed of rotation of the magnetic field are discussed. The interrelation between the start-up duration and the motor stator winding heating with the dynamic loads occurring in the conveyor belt in start-up modes is considered. Modeling results obtained using the Simulink package are presented. Since long start-up modes of asynchronous electric drives based on thyristor voltage converters can lead to motor overheating, especially when the conveyor is restarted under full load and in hot climates, it is advisable to use automatic conveyor belt tension control devices during start-up modes thereby reducing premature belt deterioration together with a decrease in the conveyor motor heating.
