Ambient street media are the media of our everyday lives in cities. Manifested in bits and fragments on the surfaces of the streetscape, these media often escape our notice - tuned out as visual clutter or dismissed as unimportant. Yet, attentive viewing and analysis reveal much about the local culture of communication and expression. This thesis blends empirical and theoretical methodologies in a year-long photographic study that takes a fresh look at the concepts and realities of "media," "the city," and "the everyday," and sets several disciplines in interaction with one another. Ambient street media include news racks, traffic and street signs, storefronts, sandwichboards, graffiti, stickers, murals, and flyers. This is in contrast to conventional notions of "the media" as one-to-many communication modalities consumed primarily in the domestic space, particularly television, radio, major newspapers, and the Internet. Studies of media in everyday life typically address these mass media, passing over ambient street media for any detailed examination. By examining both the explicit and implicit facets of street communications, this study elevates their importance in a number of disciplines, from cultural studies to urban design and planning. For example, we find much to counter postmodern anxieties about cities.

While evidence of globalization and the prioritization of government and corporate interests over those of local entities and autonomous individuals are easily found, the ecology of street media includes a vibrant array of individual communications. Currently, much of the media made by individuals are unauthorized to appear where they do. But in the commercial area of Central Square, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, they are accorded a high degree of tolerance by local authorities, making this a unique laboratory in which to see what happens when streetscape surfaces are accessible to many. The streetscape can be viewed as a communication medium in itself, special for its direct accessibility and affordability as well as the immediacy with which messages posted there can be received. Urban planners who seek to design spaces that give people a sense of place are encouraged to more equitably apportion space among government, commercial, and individual interests and add surfaces that are more accommodating to a wider array of inscriptions.

Повний текст джерелаDenna studie utforskar framsteg inom realtid ambient occlusion (AO). Ämnen som diskuteras är senaste typen av screen-spaceteknik och raytraced ambient occlusion. Metoderna som jämförs är vår egen screen-space ambient occlusion (SSAO) variant, horizon-based ambient occlusion (HBAO), Unitys scalable AO (Alchemy AO), multi-scale volumetric AO (MSVO), och raytraced AO (RTAO). De olika metoderna jämfördes baserat på prestanda, likheter till referens scener och fel som tillverkas inom dynamiska scener. Viktiga dynamiska scener var markerad och de visuella resultaten var objektivt evaluerad genom användning av Structural Similarity Index (SSIM). Unity motorn användes som en gemensam plattform för alla typer av metoder för att få fram prestanda mått. RTAO lyckades att uppnå ett högt SSIM betyg medan MSVO blev den snabbaste av alla metoder dock har lägre precision. Ytterligare analys av olika genomföringar och deras styrkor samt svagheter ingår i rapporten.

Повний текст джерелаAmbient Occlusion är en teknik för ambient ljussättning i digitala tredimensionella scener. Sådana scener ljussätts vanligtvis med en konstant mängd ambient ljus på samtliga ytor oberoende av ytornas vinkel och position gentemot olika ljuskällor i scenen. Detta ger ett platt och kalt intryck och utan vidare ljussättningstekniker är det ytterst svårt att urskönja detaljer i scenen. Ambient Occlusion åthjälper detta genom att reducera mängden ambient ljus i vissa delar av scenen. Ambient ljus är en enkel approximation av det reflekterade diffusa ljuset som antas nå nästan överallt i scenen. Genom att sänka det ambienta ljuset på punkter i scenen med tät eller täckande geometri så ger Ambient Occlusion ett intryck av att det sekundära diffusa ljuset ej når dessa platser. Pappret undersöker en äldre variant av Ambient Occlusion där mängden ambient ljus beräknas statiskt för en scen och sparas i texturer. Vidare undersöks nyare metoder där mängden ambient ljus beräknas dynamiskt på den renderade scenen i Pixel Shaders. Det senare tillvägagångssättet kallas Image Based Ambient Occlusion eller Screen Space Ambient Occlusion. Detta nya tillvägagångssätt jämförs mot den traditionella angreppsvinkeln med förberäknade texturer. Teknikerna utvärderas och jämförs mot varandra i avseende på tids- och minneskomplexitet, enkelhet och visuellt resultat utöver specifika egenskaper för de enskilda teknikerna. Arbetets resultat beskrivs i slutet av rapporten. I resultatet presenteras hur shaderteknikerna pga sina brister inte är applicerbara i alla scener.

Повний текст джерелаUrban planning starts to be heavily focused on the provision of adequate networks of urban infrastructures to stimulate a shift towards sustainable mobility in order to alleviate resource consumption and environmental impacts in cities. Nevertheless, the integration of life cycle environmental criteria in the design and management of the urban infrastructures required to support sustainable mobility is usually missing. Given the vast span and increasing global investment in the deployment of new infrastructure, the environmental burden imposed to the urban public space can be significant. This dissertation concentrates on the characterization of the life-cycle environmental performance of conventional designs of (concrete, asphalt and granite) sidewalks and charging facilities for electric vehicles (two-wheelers). Sidewalks are basic urban pavements implemented to support walking and cycling as the cleanest modes of urban mobility. Sidewalks also represent the matrix for the layout of different urban elements required to support sustainable mobility. Charging facilities for electric vehicles represent one urban element being heavily implemented in cities to encourage the electricification of the urban vehicle fleet as a promising strategy to cut oil consumption and pollutant emissions from motorized mobility. Life Cycle Assessment is applied in order to identify the most environmentally-friendly solutions and best practices to minimize the environmental burden imposed to the urban public space, thereby increasing the value of greening urban mobility. The dissertation also looks for solutions to improve the environmental performance of those product systems with high environmental footprint in order to achieve major environmental improvements at the urban scale. On the one hand, the potential for cleaner industrial production of granite tiles used in construction is analyzed from an Industrial Ecology approach (technological improvement, rainwater harvesting and by-product synergies). On the other hand, ecodesign principles are applied in the conceptualization of an eco-pergola (street furniture) that can contribute to support multimodal (pedestrian and e-bike) mobility. As a result, this dissertation provides complete and disaggregated inventory data of the mobilized resources (energy, water, materials) and environmental impacts of the life cycle of each product system, identifies the most relevant hot-spots for environmental improvement and defines a set of criteria and best-practices for sustainability-based decision-making to minimize the environmental burden of the urban public space.

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis focuses on the analysis of ambient music, commonly known as background music. Although this topic is generally deemed as unworthy of examination, analyzing it may help shed light, not only on background music itself, but also on music in general and the societal dynamics it fuels. Due to the limited interest of academia on ambient music, and the consequently scarce literature on the topic, this dissertation delimits its scope to the most fecund areas of sound space, ritual practice, public space and the relation between these topics and ambient music inside the advanced capitalist system. Through the writings of scholars like Josep Martí, Anahib Kassabian, Michael Bull and others, the concept of ambient music is examined in relation to processes such as mobility, personalization, consumerism, individualization and the general aesthetization of consumer goods that are characteristic of advanced capitalism. Based on the work of scholars, mainly of Barry Truax and Murray Schaffer, this thesis analyzes how ambient music facilitates the construction of sound spaces, and how this impacts and also depends on the construction of both public and private spaces. The latter topics are studied through Marc Augé’s theory of no-places, Victor Turner’s concept of liminoid and Manuel Delgado’s work on the subject. Using the ideas of Adorno and Jacques Attali, the relation of ambient music with society’s power structures and the rituals of interaction it favours - Randall Collins and Erwing Goffman-, is further explored. Thus making it possible to link the peculiar musical phenomenon of ambient music, with issues such as utopia and mobility and coexistence in our cities. Finally, this thesis concludes that the relationship that exists between a person and music in contemporary urban settings cannot be understood through traditional ideas that still prevail in certain schools of thought of musicology and ethnomusicology. The pervasiveness of ambient music, or everyday music, has redefined the aforementioned relationship and calls to question how the contemporary subject relates to the new technologies of music production and reproduction, the spaces in which this happens and how this influences the relationship between people.

O litoral cearense convive hoje com um dos maiores ensamentos litorâneos brasileiro, isso ocorre porque, nas últimas décadas, a ocupação das áreas litorâneas para o turismo e habitação tem se intensificado gradativamente. Através do estudo das dunas do município de Aquiraz pretendeu-se apreender a dinâmica presente nesse setor litorâneo e obter após uma análise detalhada um diagnostico ambiental, o qual propiciou a elaboração de propostas de gestão para toda área estudada. Mas, a principal finalidade da pesquisa foi compreender a estrutura e funcionamento das dunas de maneira integrada. E entender como essas unidades naturais se comportam e interagem dentro do sistema litorâneo. A área em que se desenvolvem as avaliações situa-se no setor leste costeiro desse município e o campo de duna presente nesse setor são umas das maiores expressões espaciais desse tipo de feições no litoral nordestino brasileiro. A compreensão dos processos pretéritos e presentes que contribuíram na formação dessas dunas, a identificação das suas diferentes tipologias, a classificação de acordo com o seu estado dinâmico e individualização das suas gerações foi o nosso principal objetivo. A pesquisa encontra-se alicerçado na Teoria Geossitêmica e dentro dos procedimentos técnicos e metodológicos aplicados buscou-se a análise espaço-temporal através da interpretação de produtos cartográficos de diferentes períodos, em uma faixa tempo de quase cinqüenta anos. Diante do contexto a revisão bibliográfica, análise cartográfica e etapa de campo foram cruciais para um maior conhecimento da área e para a concretização do trabalho. De acordo com os critérios adotados foram identificadas duas gerações de dunas e vários tipos de morfologia, além de alguns setores com formas de uso e ocupação indevidas que estão provocando a degradação das dunas e alterando a dinâmica natural da área. Entretanto, o trecho estudado tem a maior parte das suas dunas ainda conservadas, em virtude de grande partes delas estarem sob proteção da Legislação Federal. Ao final foi evidenciada a necessidade da implantação de medidas de manejo ambiental capazes de minimizar os impactos ambientais nos trechos com ocupações e de monitoramento, para que os setores de dunas mais conservados, não se transformem em futuras de áreas de degradação ambiental.

Повний текст джерелаEnvironmental issues emerged in the last century with its complexity, as contemporary problem, it marks a point in history where they lapse ideological underpinnings and the certainties that spawned the scientific paradigms of knowledge brought by the progress of modernity. The possibility to realize this is to accept the environmental issue as a product of our civilization, understanding it, especially as ethics, philosophy and politics. Among these connections between the environment and education are offered readings from the environmental education, which often becomes a propaganda tool that has been called the environmental issue, maintaining practices that ultimately limit its processing power, producing a fragmented reading of the environment and nature, recreating and authorizing the continuation of unequal situations and processes established before. This dissertation aims to understand the relationship between geographic and environmental education. Thus, we sought a spatial analysis to assist the discussion on the subject, showing the geographic theoretical production able to talk and relate to education and the environment as a possible reading of the world. For this, there are two major ways that enable thinking about this relationship: the production of environmental education from geography through readings taken from the production of geographical science (through theses, dissertations and articles), and the production of the geographies from environmental education through the analysis of educational materials sponsored by foundations, institutes and private companies focused on teachers.

And to reflect on how the performed actions interfered or interfere in the attitudes of the development of this ability, having as basis the Winnicott contributions. The reading theme gains visibility as a cultural phenomenon, questioning the type of provider environment such that the reading comes to be. Provider environment is the one that surrounds, nourishes and takes care of the human being under development mother, family, school, society, worldP The field of investigation was the public school, having the focus on inter-human relationship that allowed the students from the fifth to the eighth series/grades to express what they thought about reading, through the means of an intermediary object questionnaire. The human being may have reading as ability, being its user and creator and may find in it a path to place his human condition in coming to be. To be and not to be a reader, a paradox sustained to promote readings of life, from the metaphorical to those of a specific alphabetical code, giving the individual the conditions for personal enrichment and of traveling through the potential space, whilst at the same time enabling him to participate of and in culture as an active reader. Not being a reader hinders the access to the cultural estate left by humanity and to the human condition of making use of reading as a creative being, social, free and a citizen

Повний текст джерелаIn the social-historical moment we live in, it is each time more evident the necessity of the people to learn to deal with the environment in conscientious way, taking care of themselves properly through it. In this direction, considering the school as a place where children, young and adolescents spend great part of their time, this work had as objective to examine the perception of school environment for students, professors and employees of two schools in Jo?o Pessoa city - Centro Estadual Experimental de Ensino-Aprendizagem Sesquicenten?rio and Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental e M?dio Presidente Em?lio Garrastazu M?dici (Experimental State Center of Learning-teaching Sesquicenten?rio and Basic and High State School Education Emilio Garrastazu M?dici President). From the presupposed that the environments in which and with which people live reflect their daily practices, the field work searched to identify the social-environmental practices that characterize the relation of these users with the school and, from this understanding, to infer some of their concerns regarding the environment as a whole. To analyze the use of the available physical space in the two institutions it was opted the use of the After-Occupation Evaluation, one of the approaches that feed the process of building production or built set, rescuing aspects related to its use, operation and maintenance. Besides analyzing diverse school environments (such as classroom circulations/accesses, library, pedagogical and sportive spaces) in relation to the environmental comfort and the perceptions of the main users of the schools (pupils, professors and employees), the dissertation tried to inquire the care (ambient education) of these users with the school space. In general, it was verified that the two schools have evaluations and perceptions really different for four reasons: (i) management of the schools; (ii) the users perception; (III) localization of schools and (IV) feeling of place, territoriality and appropriation
No momento s?cio-hist?rico que vivemos ? cada vez mais evidente a necessidade das pessoas aprenderem a lidar com o meio ambiente de modo consciente, cuidando de si pr?prias atrav?s dele. Nesse sentido, considerando a escola como um local onde crian?as, jovens e adolescentes passam grande parte do seu tempo, esta disserta??o teve como objetivo discutir a percep??o do ambiente escolar por estudantes, professores e funcion?rios de duas escolas de Jo?o Pessoa - o Centro Estadual Experimental de Ensino-Aprendizagem Sesquicenten?rio e a Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental e M?dio Presidente Em?lio Garrastazu M?dici. Partindo-se do pressuposto que os ambientes nos quais e com os quais as pessoas convivem refletem suas pr?ticas cotidianas, o trabalho de campo buscou identificar as pr?ticas s?cio- ambientais que caracterizam a rela??o desses usu?rios com a escola e, a partir dessa compreens?o, inferir algumas de suas preocupa??es com rela??o ao meio ambiente como um todo. Para analisar a utiliza??o do espa?o f?sico dispon?vel nas duas institui??es optou-se pela Avalia??o P?s-Ocupa??o, uma das abordagens que retro alimentam o processo de produ??o de edif?cios ou conjunto edificado, resgatando aspectos ligados ao seu uso, opera??o e manuten??o. Concepts are presented, that oriented the research process, placing in evidence the ones of space, place, landscape, free spaces and system of free spaces; that are the result of the first part of works of the thematic projet of research QUAPA-SEL, looking forward to comphehend, in general, the configuration and formation of Public Free Spaces of the city of Sao Paulo. As a second step, after the implantation of the Centros de Bairro, Its seen in the details of the idea of the program and in its effective experience of the implementation of squares and its relations with the neighborhoods, the manifestation of different ways of appropriation of these spaces and its relation to the configuration of the system of spaces.

In this work, the usual supremacy of space over environment (commonly granted by architects as much as by educators) is called in question, while the concept of complexity is presented as an essential aspect on the development of school environment projects.

Muito difícil pensar no tema da casa e não trazer à mente a construção da imagem de uma família a residir neste espaço. E é no ambiente doméstico, onde as crianças têm seu primeiro contato com o mundo material e emocional. Numa época em que a valorização da infância surge com grande intensidade, parece pertinente avaliar como os espaços desenhados para a habitação podem ser reconhecidos e apropriados pelas crianças. Ao se ouvir a opinião das crianças e tomar consciência das suas necessidades podemos alcançar um processo de reabilitação do espaço interno da casa. Como organizá-la, qual tipo de acabamentos a escolher para melhorar a sua conceção espacial, quais os ambientes primordiais, qual a importância do quarto enquanto espaço privado e de descompressão da rotina diária, constituem alguns elementos que podem auxiliar os arquitetos na composição de projetos mais adequados para todos os integrantes de uma família, em especial para as crianças! Com este trabalho, busca-se promover uma reflexão interdisciplinar sobre o papel da arquitetura também como veículo de expressão das vozes das crianças, procurando estabelecer uma relação entre as perceções das crianças sobre o espaço interior da casa, manifestadas através da exposição de suas opiniões, e a projeção adequada da arquitetura, a partir do primeiro espaço que conhecem.
Home, family, child… words with such distinct meanings, but closely related. It is very difficult to think about the theme of the house and not bring to mind the construction of the image of a family residing in this space. And it is in this domestic environment, where children have their first contact with the material and emotional world. Nowadays, the valuation of childhood emerges with great intensity, and it seems pertinent to evaluate how the design of living spaces is recognized and appropriated by children. Listening to their opinions and being aware of their own needs, can lead us to a process of rehabilitation of the inner space of the home. How to organize it, what kind of finishes to choose in order to improve its spatial design, which are the most relevant ambients, what is the significance of the bedrom as a private domain, where children can acquaint decompression from their daily routine, are some elements that can help the architects in the composition of more suitable projects for all family members, especially for children! This work seeks to arouse an interdisciplinary reflection on the role of architecture also as a vehicle for expressing children´s voices, establishing the relationship between children’s perceptions about the inner space of the house, manifested through the exposition of their opinions, and the proper projection of architecture, from the first space they are familiar with.

The school environment forms a system of values and speeches, in which its users are stimulated to learn. In this context, the present dissertation aims to investigate the relationship between the design of the classroom and the possi- ble interactions and experiences of its users, through the analysis of the spatial arrangements and their potentialities. The research involves bibliographical re- view, articulation of theoretical concepts, contextualization of space and place and an understanding of the classroom as an adaptive complex system. In this approach, three spatial arrangements of classrooms, identified by Scott-Webber (2009) as recurrent in educational institutions, are set up in rigid and fluid en- vironments, analyzed through personal space (SOMMER, 1973) and proxemic zones (HALL, 2006) theories. Therefore, it is possible to trace an activity profile and intention by using each arrangement, in order to promote the desired inte- ractions. It is discussed the rigidity of the projected space and its possibilities of adaptability to the needs of the users. In conclusion, the need to design spaces is more flexible and adaptable to contemporary demands.
O ambiente escolar formata um sistema de valores e discursos, no qual seus usuários são estimulados à aprendizagem. Neste sentido, esta dissertação tem como objetivo investigar a relação entre o design da sala de aula e as possíveis interações e experiências dos usuários, a partir da análise dos arranjos espaciais e suas potencialidades. A pesquisa envolve revisão bibliográfica, articulação dos conceitos teóricos, contextualização acerca de espaço e lugar e compreensão da sala de aula como sistema complexo adaptativo. Nesta abordagem, observa- se três arranjos espaciais de salas de aula, apontadas por Scott-Webber (2009) como recorrentes em instituições de ensino, que configuram ambientes rígidos e fluídos, analisados a partir das teorias de espaço pessoal (SOMMER, 1973) e zonas proxêmicas (HALL, 2006). Assim, é possível traçar um perfil de atividade e intenção com o uso de cada um dos arranjos, a fim de promover as interações desejadas. Discute-se a rigidez do espaço projetado e suas possibilidades de adaptabilidade às necessidades dos usuários. Conclui-se a necessidade de projetar espaços mais flexíveis e adaptáveis às demandas contemporâneas.

According to the laws that rule the Brazilian educational system, the environmental theme is present in the curricula of Basic Education with the intention of providing relevant knowledge for reflections and discernment regarding social and environmental issues, since there are many issues related to the theme. Thus, understanding that the educators play an important role as mediators of knowledge, this study aimed at investigating what the perceptions were about Environment (MA) and Environmental Education (EA) of students taking part of the Teacher Training Course at the Middle Level, and if they are modified and/or expanded with the carrying out of educational activities on the environmental theme at the Biological Refuge of Santa Helena/PR (RBSH), a non-formal education site. In order to do so, this research was based on the qualitative approach, in which the methodology covers four stages, being: A, B and C questionnaires, and a collective interview with the participating students. After the collection of the data, they were submitted to the content analysis methodology. With the analysis of the answers to the questionnaires and the collective interview, an observation on the kinds of perceptions of MA became possible; they were: Totalitarian, Nature, Recursive, Place where one lives, Problem, Anthropocentric and Sensitization. At first, the presence of perceptions of MA such as Nature was expressive, an understanding that later changed as the EA activities were performed at the RBSH, leading towards a Totalitarian MA perception. As for the the students' perceptions of EA, there was an understanding of the conservationist, sustainable development and systemic nuances. The perception of conservationist EA was the most present in the information, in which the concern revolves around preservation and environmental awareness. It is worth emphasizing that there were no critical perceptions about EA, indicating that reflections and discussions about environmental issues should be addressed with students and society, in order to enable citizen education. In this sense, the study indicates that the subjects' perception about different contents and phenomena occurs based on the historical, social and cultural contexts in which each one is immersed. In addition, the use of non-formal education spaces, such as the RBSH, is presented as a teaching strategy for environmental issues, as it allows the socialization of knowlege, integration, reflection and reconstruction of the relationship with MA.
Conforme as legislações que regem o sistema educacional brasileiro, a temática ambiental está presente nos currículos da Educação Básica com o intuito de possibilitar saberes pertinentes para reflexões e discernimentos frente às questões sociais e ambientais, uma vez que são inúmeras as problemáticas relacionadas ao tema. Nesse sentido, compreendendo que os educadores exercem um papel importante como mediadores do conhecimento, este estudo buscou investigar quais eram as percepções sobre Meio Ambiente − MA e Educação Ambiental − EA de estudantes do Curso de Formação Docente em Nível Médio e se elas são modificadas e/ou ampliadas com a realização de atividades educativas sobre a temática ambiental no Refúgio Biológico de Santa Helena/PR − RBSH, um local não formal de educação. Para tanto, esta pesquisa se fundamentou na abordagem qualitativa, na qual a metodologia abrange quatro etapas, sendo elas: questionários A, B e C, e entrevista coletiva com os estudantes participantes da investigação. Após a constituição dos dados, estes foram submetidos à metodologia de análise de conteúdo. Com a análise das respostas aos questionários e à entrevista coletiva foi então possível observar as percepções de MA: Totalitário, Natureza, Recursista, Lugar em que se vive, Problema, Antropocêntrico e Sensibilização. De início foi expressiva a presença de percepções de MA como Natureza, entendimento que se alterou posteriormente ao desenvolvimento de atividades de EA realizadas no RBSH, indicando na direção de uma percepção Totalitária de MA. Já, as percepções de EA dos estudantes compreenderam as nuances Conservacionista, de Desenvolvimento Sustentável e Sistêmica. A percepção de EA Conservacionista foi a mais presente nas informações, na qual a preocupação gira em torno da preservação e da conscientização ambiental. Ressalta-se que não houve percepções críticas sobre EA, indicando que reflexões e discussões sobre a temática ambiental devem ser abordadas com os alunos e com a sociedade, para assim possibilitar uma formação cidadã. Nesse sentido, o estudo faz compreender que a percepção dos sujeitos sobre diferentes conteúdos e fenômenos ocorre baseada nos contextos históricos, sociais e culturais em que cada um está imerso. Ademais, a utilização de espaços não formais de educação, como o RBSH, apresenta-se como uma estratégia de ensino para temas ambientais, por permitir a socialização do conhecimento, a integração, a reflexão e a reconstrução da relação com o MA.

Through the lens of authors such as Milton Santos, Marshall McLuhan, Paul Virilio and Mark Wigley, we have articulated a brief narrative of the historical processes behind these networks and also have identified some of its effects over urban environments. Taking into account the absence of these infrastructures in the current urbanistic practices, in this work we present conceptual definitions of \" information and communication infrastructure\" and also display a sequence of images, cartographies and representation of different communication technologies is distinct historical periods. Our goal is to display the geography of information and its influence over society. As a conclusion, we introduce some critical notes on the implications related to the increase of ICTs in the urban environment.

A segregação social nas cidades contempla situações que ultrapassam a aquisição da casa própria, como por exemplo, as especificidades de cada agente social. Partindo deste pressuposto, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a produção e re-produção do espaço urbano a partir do remanejamento de famílias de três das áreas alvo das intervenções do Programa Social e Ambiental dos Igarapés PROSAMIM: Igarapé Bittencourt, Manaus e Mestre Chico pela perspectiva da mulher. Utilizou-se a pesquisa participante no trabalho de campo, dividida em duas etapas. A primeira consistiu em realizar levantamento das famílias ainda residentes nos igarapés buscando conhecer sua realidade antes do remanejamento, onde foram aplicados noventa formulários com questões abertas e fechadas. Já na segunda, a partir do diálogo estabelecido na primeira fase, entrou-se em contato com famílias já remanejadas para verificar a realidade vivenciada nas novas residências a partir das especificidades femininas. Neste momento, foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas com doze famílias. Perante os resultados obtidos, observou-se a grande carência no que diz respeito ao acesso a serviços relacionados diretamente com o cotidiano da mulher, como serviços de creche e acesso a exames médicos específicos. A pesquisa denotou um expressivo contentamento com a nova casa, diante da possibilidade de se morar em uma casa de alvenaria, em um local seco, com quintal e com um maior número de cômodos. Dentre os pontos negativos surgidos, podese citar: o acesso a serviços de saúde voltados especificamente para a saúde da mulher e a precariedade do transporte público e do abastecimento de água. A continuidade da ausência de serviços de creche e escolas em tempo integral também se mostrou como outra realidade crítica. Variável que da mesma forma se apresentou negativa diz respeito àquelas mulheres que desempenhavam algum tipo de atividade informal nos igarapés e que agora encontram dificuldades em restabelecer suas antigas atividades de forma rentável. De acordo com os dados coletados e analisados ficou evidente que políticas que visem amenizar as desigualdades existentes no espaço urbano devem contemplar ações que ultrapassem a aquisição da casa própria, sendo necessário também tomar medidas que possibilitem o acesso aos equipamentos e serviços urbanos a partir das especificidades e singularidades de cada agente social.

The reflections about the urban environment gained great importance at the end of this millennium on account of the environment crisis that hits the planet, with all in function in the form with man to come if relation with nature. In this context, the analyzed reality doesn\'t explain for itself, it takes part of a larger relation that belongs to the city and the Amazonian region , inserted in the reproduction logic of the capital the Amazônia that reproduced and reproduces itself in the region in different phases. Therefore, the Icoaraci district shawls mainly of the periphery of neighborhoods (and urban occupation) serious engagements related to the urban environment and consequently affect the life of a great part of the population, particularly the ones that live at the borders of the rivers, igarapés and peripheries of the poor neighborhoods which needs infra-structure.

Повний текст джерелаThis research analyses the factors that affect the comfort and spatial orientation in the universal accessibility in urban centers, according to the perception of different groups of users, under distinct mobility conditions. The main objective was to contribute to the comprehension of how and which factors can contribute for the universal accessibility of urban space. The investigation was conducted through quantitative and qualitative methods in two phases. The first one had the objective of collecting subsidies to define the area of the city centre of the town object of the present investigation, through interviews and the application of mental maps to users with different mobility conditions. The second phase had the objective of testing the hypothesis of this research through the application of survey and observation of behavioral. For the survey was used digital audio recorder, through which it was possible to record comments of the respondents, as well as a map of the city center, where it was possible to trace the excerpts perceived by the user as the most comfortable/uncomfortable. The observation of behaviour was totally registered in video, as well as the data collection of information and photography. The information obtained through questionnaires were analysed quantitatively through frequencies and non-parametric texts; the statements were transcripts and the mental maps were collected in a synthesis-map, with the indication of comfortable/uncomfortable parts for each group of users; the information of the observation of behaviour were registered in behaviour maps with the support of video-reccording, some of them registered in sequential pictures, where it is showed, for instance, the dislocation of users crossing the streets. The data reveals that, for the universal accessibility of the urban space, some elements and physical characteristics provoke similar levels of comfort to all different kinds of users, even not being strongly considered in norms and in other researches. On the other side, in opposition to what is taken for granted in norms and in other studies, some physical characteristics of the urban space provoke comfort to some users, but are uncomfortable for others, as curb-ramps and truncated domes. What the space orientation is concerned, some references used by all groups of users, as the function and the characteristics of buildings, and with less unanimity, the concentration of people, are not considered in norms or in studies as factors that could contribute for the universal accessibility. At the same time, signalizations and marks on the floor, recommended by norms and approached as factors that support the universal accessibility, are used by some users and not by others, for instance, the truncated domes is used for the orientation of the group with visual deficiency, but is considered uncomfortable by users that displaces with wheels and users without deficiency. The results obtained indicate that to reach the universal accessibility it is not enough to put in practice the norms, and that many other factors should be considered.

Повний текст джерелаWe presently verified in Brazil the strengthening of a technicist Education, pervaded by the ideology of the capitalist rationality, which amplify and cheapen the national labor. This Educational Project was strengthened mainly by means of the MEC USAID agreements during the military dictatorship (1964-1985). At the same time the population sees School Education as a possibility of escaping the social hardships, the public schools become more similar to prisons: grids, sirens, walls, gates, classrooms as cells, long corridors and teachers as jailers. And all this occurs, contradictorily, in a public space which is itself the concrete possibility of building a more democratic society. It is, therefore, urgent to adopt new learning/teaching strategies and the studies on shared classrooms present themselves as a possibility. This urgency was revealed in 2015 by the occupations in public schools. In them, the appropriation of the school space made the students to believe that the school reality could be changed if they acted and if they could recognize themselves as integral and active participants in the school\'s decision process. Shared classrooms are forms of physical structuring the schools in which the teachers remain fixed in specific classrooms and the students are the ones to move between one class and the other. Shared classrooms alleviate the body and the mind in a environment of confinement; they can contribute to diminish the violence and the school dropout and, in addition, put the pedagogical actions in the foreground. The analysis of the school place, its observation and description; the comparison between shared classrooms and fixed classrooms and, ultimately, the combined analysis of all this, produced this thesis. It projects itself in the knowledge field, with these essentially geographic tools, as a contribution to the school pedagogies.

Analisa-se a relação saúde e ambiente no espaço urbano do município de Raposa, MA, a começar pela discussão de alguns problemas ambientais de ordem geral e também específicos. Faz-se uma análise bibliográfica sobre a interação homem e ambiente, discutindo a degradação ambiental e a qualidade ambiental; e sobre a relação sociedade e saúde, onde aborda-se também a saúde ambiental e a qualidade de vida. Disserta-se a respeito da origem e criação do município de Raposa, além dos aspectos geoambientais. Estuda-se a relação existente entre o estado ambiental do solo urbano e a qualidade de vida. Diagnostica-se a situação socioeconômica, como infra-estrutura urbana, composição populacional e situação econômica; a situação ambiental, como a degradação, a insalubridade ambiental, e a qualidade da água consumida por meio de análise microbiológica; a situação sanitária, como a atuação do Programa Saúde da Família e as estatísticas sanitárias oficiais do município de Raposa.

Повний текст джерелаThe Metropolis is a phenomenon in movement. Its process, the metropolization consists of many relations involving nature and history. This research investigates the peculiar fluvial environment appropriation of the floodplains of the Pirajuçara River Basin during the formation of the metropolis of São Paulo. Historically, continuities and discontinuities have been succeeding each other in this process in a fundamental contradiction: the assertion of the floodplain as a river environment and the production of space as its negation. Interventions in rivers and wetlands in the city aim the metropolis under the formal determinations of capital in general. Such condition crystallizes a very particular role of this environment in labor division mainly as passage space. In this context, the relationship between the appropriation of the environment of river floodplains and the production of space in the metropolis composes a set of problems in which the disaster of flooding arises as the limit process. The new practice of restraining the flow with flood control reservoirs (piscinões) has its objectives in environmentalism and sustainability ideologies. What appears as disruption shows up as continuity of floodplains appropriation in order to carry out the metropolis as an area for value reproduction.

The goal is to identify the different forms and manifestations of practices and regulatory discourses within the investigated institution and, therefore, realize also, through these practices and regulatory discourses, the possibilities for practices and emancipatory discourse. From this, we intend to propose a local school analysis parameter in contrast to the discourses and practices that are presented in a generalizing form. In view of these considerations it is important to highlight also the interdisciplinary nature of this research, so we can not reduce it to a teaching job or education. It is not because the object of research is the school that we will fully promote a teaching or educational work. It is a teaching work and education, but it is also a historiographical, sociological, philosophical, anthropological work and, above all, a work of human sciences concerned with the complexity of the established social relations within an educational institution in the context of an interior small city. It is, therefore, a work on the daily life of a public school, aimed to understand the social relations produced by this institution and the unfolding of these relations in the municipality context in which the school is located.

Повний текст джерелаDotada de uma ambiência única na cidade de Lisboa, Xabregas apresenta sucessivas camadas históricas, que se reflectem hoje numa enorme desordem urbana. À semelhança de toda a zona oriental de Lisboa, a desindustrialização deixou ao abandono os seus edifícios e levou as pessoas. Com o passar dos anos, Lisboa foi-se esquecendo do oriente, criando aqui um cenário decadente. Hoje começamos novamente a olhar para o potencial que aqui encontramos. O enquadramento morfológico de Xabregas, no qual se insere um vasto património arquitectónico, terá um papel predominante nesta mudança de cenário, sendo que os espaços verdes que o compõem suportam um equilibrado sistema ecológico que se reflecte no bem estar dos habitantes de uma cidade. Assim como a agricultura urbana, que se pretende como um ponto importante intrínseco aos espaços verdes urbanos. Os seus benefícios socias e comunitários são já reconhecidos, pelo que, mais importante que manter esta lógica, será desenvolvê-la, para que a sua continuidade e desenvolvimento prevaleça. Atento a isto e em complemento a um novo parque urbano, a Fábrica da Samaritana aparece, como um novo ponto que se desenvolve em torno de uma cultura ambiental acessível a todos. A sua reabilitação, consciente do seu valor patrimonial, passa por dar-lhe um novo uso onde prevaleçam as relações comunitárias, o desenvolvimento e a divulgação, reflectido na criação de um ambiente que fortaleça boas praticas ambientais.
ABSTRACT: Endowed with a unique ambience in the city of Lisbon, Xabregas presents successive historical layers, which reflect today a huge urban disorder. As seen in all eastern Lisbon, deindustrialization left its buildings behind and drove people with it. Over the years, Lisbon has forgotten the East, creating a decadent scenario. Today, we start again looking into the potential found there. The morphological framework of Xabregas – which includes a vast architectural heritage – will have a predominant role in this change of scenery, wherein the green spaces that compose it support a balanced ecological system, that is reflected in the well-being of the inhabitants of a city. Just like urban agriculture, it is intended as an important point intrinsic to urban green spaces. Its social and community benefits are already recognized, so more important than maintaining this logic, will be to develop it, so that its continuity and development prevails. Aware of this and in addition to a new urban park, the Fábrica da Samaritana appears as a new point that develops around an environmental culture accessible to all. Its rehabilitation, conscious of its patrimonial value, is to give it a new usage, where community relations, development and dissemination prevail, reflected in the creation of an environment that strengthens good environmental practices.

Besides theoretical considerations about mental models of environment and environmental conservation at industry, the research presents a case focused on Unilever industrial plant at Vinhedo, São Paulo. The research takes aim to lights on the dialogue between industrial and common sense mental models of the environment in the face of ecological knowledge and discuss educational activities based on natural history and especially on environmental planning to improve evaluative perceptions and participatory abilities of citizens in the production of space.

Повний текст джерелаThe Brazilian Institute of Environment (IBAMA) executor of the National Environmental Policies, has been the object of frequent evaluation by different segments of the Brazilian society. This study aims subsidize the building of analytical perspectives over the effectiveness of its actions coming from an analysis of the composition of its organizational culture. The hypothesis was formulated in a sense of that the existence of different conceptions for the term Environment among the workers of the institute has a relation with the process of the constitution of the organizational culture from the IBAMA. This perspective is given by the researchers experience into the environmental field, especially for had been part of the same functional body of the Institute. This same condition gave the possibility of adding to the historiography of IBAMA aspects concerning to the influence of the theoretical concepts for the term Environment into the Institutes organizational culture. The research was oriented by the theoretical fundamentals of authors that had explored the culture, the power and the behavior of organizations, such as TAVARES (1991), SCHERMERHORN, HUNT & OSBORNO (2001), FLEURY (2009) and, BERTERO (2009).It had adopted as methodological strategies the techniques of observation, questionnaires and interviews following the orientations by GOODE E HATT (1973), GIL (1994) and LAKATOS (2003) to identify the relations between the conceptualization of Environment by the side of the IBAMAs workers. In the CASTORIADIS (1982) conceptual perspective of historic beings it was analyzed registers of speech from others social actors that had written the history of the public Brazilian environmental management. The thesis presents the coexistence of two active conceptualizations for the term Environment that derivates from the IBAMAs process of environmentalization.

Universities go through constant physical expansion processes, which requires planning, design and investment in infrastructure. Public universities often maintain their own design offices and teams responsible for planning and management of physical space, as well as for the supervision of building processes and others, which have a relation to society. This research aims to study and characterize design process and physical space planning and management inside public universities, through the systematization of processes and of internal flows of activities and information and, also, by identifying the key problems within these processes, as well as the relations between such processes and institutional planning instruments such as Urban Master Plans and Institutional Development Plans. The work presents a literature review and case studies of three Brazilian public universities, focusing its planning and design offices. As its main results, we present a diagnosis of the maturity stage of planning and management of the built environment processes within those institutions, characterize best practices related to those processes and propose some guidelines for project development in public universities.
As universidades estão em constante processo de expansão física e adaptação, demandando planejamento, projetos e investimento de recursos em infraestrutura. Muitas universidades públicas possuem escritórios internos de projetos, e equipes responsáveis pela gestão e planejamento do espaço físico, assim como pelo acompanhamento e fiscalização das obras e processos, os quais têm uma relação com a sociedade. A presente pesquisa visa estudar e caracterizar o planejamento e a gestão do processo de projeto e do espaço físico dentro das universidades públicas, através da sistematização dos processos e fluxos internos de atividades e informações e da identificação dos principais problemas existentes nesses processos, assim como a relação desses processos com instrumentos de planejamento institucionais, como Planos Diretores, Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional. O desenvolvimento do trabalho está estruturado em revisão bibliográfica e na realização de estudos de caso junto a três universidades públicas, tendo como objeto da pesquisa seus órgãos de planejamento e escritórios de projeto. Como principais resultados a dissertação apresenta um diagnóstico do estágio de maturidade dos processos de planejamento e gestão do ambiente construído nas instituições, caracteriza boas práticas de gestão e planejamento das instituições investigadas e propõe diretrizes para o desenvolvimento de projetos junto às universidades públicas.

Повний текст джерелаCette thèse aborde le problème du calcul analytique de la visibilité depuis un polygone, dans un contexte applicatif. Premièrement, nous mettons en évidence le fossé existant entre la théorie qui permet une élégante description du problème, et la pratique qui peine à proposer des implémentations robustes. Par la suite, nous nous appuyons sur le concept de classes d’équivalence de droites orientées afin de proposer deux nouveaux algorithmes qui encodent l’occlusion et la visibilité depuis un polygone dans l’espace de Plücker. Les deux algorithmes utilisent cette information pour exploiter la cohérence visuelle qui existe entre des points voisins sur un même polygone et accélérer les calculs de visibilité depuis ces points. Contrairement aux méthodes existantes, notre approche est très robuste, et l’information est encodée de manière paresseuse à l’exécution. Les deux contextes applicatifs sont le calcul des ombres douces et de l’occlusion ambiante en synthèse d’images. Notre algorithme d’occlusion distingue les droites occultées et non occultées. Il est utilisé pour calculer les fragments exacts d’une source surfacique visibles depuis les points à ombrer. Notre algorithme de visibilité enrichit cette définition et regroupe de manière analytique les rayons issus d’une surface selon les premiers objets intersectés. Les deux algorithmes obtiennent des résultats de haute qualité sans bruit ou autre artéfact, contrairement aux méthodes stochastiques ou basées sur une approximation de la visibilité. Повний текст джерелаCross Laminated Timber (CLT, or crosslam) panels are engineered timber products composed of layers made of wooden lamellas placed side by side, glued on their upperand lower faces and stacked crosswise. In the present thesis, the influence of lateral spaces between lamellas of each layer on the panel’s mechanical response is investigated with modeling and tests. Both configurations of standard panels having short spaces and innovative CLT panels with large spaces are analyzed.As a first approach, the bending behavior of standard crosslam was modeled by means of an equivalent-layer model based on simplified hypotheses on mechanical properties of laterally glued or unglued layers. The good agreement of the predicted behavior with an experiment of the literature finally allowed an investigation on several CLT properties by means of parameter studies.Then, 4-points bending tests on standard and innovative CLT floors were performed in order to quantify the influence of periodic spaces on the panels' mechanical response. It appears that the influence of transverse shear effects on the elastic and failure behavior of spaced CLT increases with the increasing spaces between boards.In order to take into account transverse shear effects, spaced CLT have been modeled as periodic thick plates by means of a higher-order plate theory for laminated plates. This model has been applied to the geometry of spaced CLT with a periodic homogenization scheme. Existing simplified methods for spaced crosslam were compared as well with refined modeling and test results. Moreover, available in-plane shear tests of the literature have been compared to the modeling results. It appears that the bending behavior of spaced CLT can be predicted with simplified existing approaches, while only the more refined modeling can predict the in-plane and transverse shear behavior. Then, closed-form solutions for predicting spaced CLT elastic behavior were derived in order to encourage the application of spaced CLT panels in modern timber construction.One further study within this thesis concerns the analysis of fire-exposed standard CLT floors. The comparison between test results and both advanced and simplified modeling led to a suggestion for a possible improvement the standard fire design model
