Medical technology consists in the complex application of natural (drinking mineral water and mineral baths) and preformed (magnetotherapy to the liver and right hypochondrium) physical factors in the rehabilitation treatment of patients in the early stages after removal of the gallbladder. The technology improves the efficiency of treatment by correcting impaired digestion and energy metabolism in patients with a removed gallbladder in the new anatomical and physiological conditions that have developed after the operation. The technology is intended for physicians of restorative medicine, gastroenterologists, balneologists and physiotherapists of health resorts and other medical institutions.

Анотація:
The livestock industry is one of the important sectors of agriculture in Vietnam. The swine-breeding farms are mainly spontaneous, the common wastewater is treated by biogas technology. However, the actual operation at the farms, shows that the wastewater treatment by biogas has been high content and still exceeded the standards of national regulation QCVN 62-MT:2016/BTNMT of COD, BOD5, TN, PO43-, leading to affect the environment. An empirical study was carried out to treat swine-breeding wastewater after biogas technology using Sagittaria sagittifolia and Enydra fluctuans. The results showed that the swine-breeding farming wastewater treatment model with Enydra fluctuans has an efficiency of 73.3% of COD content, 89.2% of BOD5, 88.3% of TN, and 89.6% of PO43-. Sagittaria sagittifolia showed a yield of 66.7% of COD content, 78.7% of BOD5, 69.5% of TN, and 85.1% of PO43-. With the same conditions and the same experimental design method, Enydra fluctuans showed better treatment results than Sagittaria sagittifolia. However, wastewater is treated by Sagittaria sagittifolia and Enydra fluctuans meeting the regulations QCVN 62-MT:2016/BTNMT, column B for pH, COD, BOD5, TN, PO43- parameters after 30 days. The treatmen model shows great potential for using aquatic plants to remove pollutants from swine-breeding wastewater. However, further studies should be carried out to evaluate the model's stability and applicability in practice.

This study concerns laser cleaning technology and its impact on copper corrosion resistances. The results of the treatment process were analyzed after irradiation at various laser powers and scanning velocities of the laser beam. The corrosion resistance of copper sheets, before and after laser irradiation, was examined in an NaCl solution at room temperature. Investigations included surface topography observations using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) together with chemical and phase composition determined by energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) and Raman spectroscopy.

The phosphate industry generates a large amount of waste called phosphogypsum (PG). Generally, this waste is discharged without any treatment, and it causes considerable environmental problems. Hence, the objective of this study is the treatment of phosphate waste using thermal plasma technology. First, the waste is characterized using different techniques, such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and inductively coupled plasma (ICP). Such characterization shows that the waste contains different toxic elements, such as heavy metals, fluorine, chlorine, sulfur, and phosphorus. For this reason, a plasma reactor is used to separate toxic elements from metals, such as silicon, aluminum, and magnesium, with a pyrolysis/combustion plasma system. In this work, the influence of different parameters, such as time of treatment and plasma current, on the volatility of toxic elements is studied. The obtained results show that after 40 min of treatment and at a plasma current of 160 A, the phosphogypsum completely melts, and the most toxic elements, namely Pb, Cd, V, Cr, and As, are completely vaporized.

AbstractTranscatheter heart valve replacement technology was introduced as alternative to surgery for the growing high-risk profile population. Developed first, aortic valve replacement (TAVR) became a standard of care for patients with severe aortic stenosis at high operative risk, with a potential future use also for low-risk subjects. In the last decade, a multitude of transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) devices have been developed for the treatment of severe mitral regurgitation, with encouraging results coming from first-in-man and feasibility studies. As for biological surgical-type valves, transcatheter implanted valves still preserve the risk of thrombosis and embolic events and anticoagulation- or antiplatelet-based strategies are the most widely used options. Unfortunately, these last remain recommended on the basis of empirical or not widely validated evidence. Therefore, given the exponential rise of TAVR and TMVR procedures, it is important to identify the optimal antithrombotic strategies that best fit the risk of thromboembolic and bleeding events. Hereafter, this review evaluates the current guidelines, trials, and observational data discussing antithrombotic strategy after transcatheter aortic or mitral valve replacement.

Abstract Objective: This study aims to examine the impact of insulin resistance (IR) on the risk of spontaneous abortion in patients who received infertility treatment. Patients and Methods: This is a cohort study of 107 patients who achieved their first pregnancy after infertility treatment in a tertiary medical center. A homeostasis model assessment of IR (HOMA-IR) was carried out. Patient demographic characteristics and pregnancy outcome were also recorded. Statistical comparison was made between patients with and without IR. Logistical regression analysis was used to assess the effect of IR and several other factors simultaneously on the risk of spontaneous abortion. Results: The incidence of spontaneous abortion was 17.8%. The association of IR with the risk of spontaneous abortion was significant after adjusting for other risk factors. The effect of overweight/obesity and polycystic ovarian syndrome was not statistically significant in the multivariate model. Discussion and Conclusion: This study suggested that IR was an independent risk factor for spontaneous abortion. Because of the high prevalence of IR in obese or polycystic ovarian syndrome patients, the risk of spontaneous abortion in these patients can be raised. Patients with IR should be advised to improve their insulin sensitivity through lifestyle change or medical intervention before infertility treatment to reduce their risk of spontaneous abortion.

Cyanobacterial (blue-green algal) blooms in agricultural dugouts and eutrophic lakes or reservoirs are common across the Canadian prairies. These blooms have caused livestock and wildlife poisonings that have been attributed to neurotoxins and/or hepatotoxins produced by various species of cyanobacteria. The hepatotoxins are extremely potent acute poisons. For example, microcystin LR has an LD50 of 50 µg/kg, by intraperitoneal injection, in mice. Hepatotoxins may also pose chronic health risks. Consequently, their presence in drinking water sources is attracting increasing attention. Chemical treatment with copper sulfate is the most common technique used to control algal blooms in drinking water reservoirs. Application of lime (calcium hydroxide) is an alternative treatment for the control of blooms. The effects of copper sulfate versus lime treatment on the release of microcystin LR from a naturally occurring bloom, involving three species of cyanobacteria including toxin-producing Microcystis aeruginosa, were studied. Water samples collected after chemical treatment of algal bloom material were monitored for microcystin LR at specific time intervals. In three replicate trials, the cells treated with coppa- sulfate released the majority of the toxin present within cellular biomass during the first three days after treatment. Substantial toxin release was not observed when cells were untreated (control) or treated with lime. After release, the persistence of microcystin LR was monitored. The aqueous toxin concentrations declined according to first order kinetics with a decay constant of 0.25 d−1. The experimental conditions, involving high biomass content, may have favoured toxin degradation. The microcystin LR half life, under laboratory conditions, was 3 d from the time of maximum toxin release (2 to 4 d after chemical treatment), meaning that a 99% reduction would take approximately 3 weeks. These findings indicate that copper sulfate should not be used to treat potentially toxic cyanobacterial blooms in waters to be consumed by humans or animals within several weeks following treatment.

Wastewaters polluted with hydrocarbons are an environmental problem that has a significant impact on the natural ecosystem and on human health. Thus, the aim of this research was to develop a bioreactor sorbent technology for treating these polluted waters. A lab-scale plant composed of three 1-L bioreactors with different sorbent materials inside (meltblown polypropylene and granulated cork) was built. Wastewater to be treated was recirculated through each bioreactor for 7 days. Results showed that hydrocarbon retention rates in the three bioreactors ranged between 92.6% and 94.5% of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs) and that after one simple recirculation cycle, no hydrocarbon fractions were detected by gas chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) in the effluent wastewater. In addition, after the wastewater treatment, the sorbent materials were extracted from the bioreactors and deposited in vessels to study the biodegradation of the retained hydrocarbons by the wastewater indigenous microbiota adhered to sorbents during the wastewater treatment. A TPH removal of 41.2% was detected after one month of Pad Sentec™ carrier treatment. Further, the shifts detected in the percentages of some hydrocarbon fractions suggested that biodegradation is at least partially involved in the hydrocarbon removal process. These results proved the efficiency of this technology for the treatment of these hydrocarbon-polluted-waters.

Background. Despite the availability of rapid diagnostic tests and inexpensive treatment for pregnant women, maternal-child syphilis transmission remains a leading cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality in developing countries. In Haiti, more than 3000 babies are born with congenital syphilis annually. Methods and Findings. From 2007 to 2011, we used a sequential time series, multi-intervention study design in fourteen clinics throughout Haiti to improve syphilis testing and treatment in pregnancy. The two primary interventions were the introduction of a rapid point-of-care syphilis test and systems strengthening based on quality improvement (QI) methods. Syphilis testing increased from 91.5% prediagnostic test to 95.9% after (P<0.001) and further increased to 96.8% (P<0.001) after the QI intervention. Despite high rates of testing across all time periods, syphilis treatment lagged behind and only increased from 70.3% to 74.7% after the introduction of rapid tests (P=0.27), but it improved significantly from 70.2% to 84.3% (P<0.001) after the systems strengthening QI intervention. Conclusion. Both point-of-care diagnostic testing and health systems-based quality improvement interventions can improve the delivery of specific evidence-based healthcare interventions to prevent congenital syphilis at scale in Haiti. Improved treatment rates for syphilis were seen only after the use of systems-based quality improvement approaches.

While the mobility in the world is growing, it is important to reduce the emissions that result from transportation. The diesel engine provides a high efficiency and hence it can help to reduce CO2 emissions, which are believed to be the main cause of global warming. Diesel exhaust also contains toxic gases, mainly nitrogen oxides (NOX) and soot particles. These emissions are therefore limited by the authorities in most countries.

Objective – to study morphological features regenerative nerve neuroma after a complete intersection and restorative surgery with the use of electric welding technology.Materials and methods. The experimental model of operative intervention on injured peripheral nerve by immediate nerve stump’s epineurium welding and partial hindlimb immobilization was developed. The study was performed on 66 white, non-breeding male rats aged 5–7 months with a body weight of 350–450 g of vivarium breeding in Institute of Neurosurgery named after acad. A.P. Romodanov NAMS of Ukraine. Animals were divided into four experimental groups: 1 – surgical animals that included access to the sciatic nerve and its full intersection (n = 21), 2 – animals that were surgically intervened, which included access to the sciatic nerve, its intersection and the restoration of anatomical integrity by the application of an epineural suture (n = 18), 3 – animals that were operated surgically, which included access to the sciatic nerve, its intersection and the restoration of anatomical integrity by electric welding of the epineurium of the ends (n = 21), 4 – sham group, who were given access to the transverse nerve without its intersection (n = 6). In the experimental group of electric welding, the operation was performed using the apparatus EKWZ-300, «Patonmed» in the automatic mode dA2, with variable high-frequency (440 kHz) modulated current up to 0,3 A, the voltage at the 34 V pincer shield, the duration of the rectangular exposure pulse 0.8 s. Formated 5–6 electric weld point connections along the perimeter of the intersection with a complete alignment of the ends. The neurohistological method of study was used to study the morphological picture of the peripheral nerve in the region of the regenerative neurology and the distal segment in 1 and 3 months after surgical intervention. Results. It was established that simultaneous use of the technique of welded epineural joint of parts and partial immobilization of the limb in the postoperative period leads to uniform maturation of the neuro-connective tissue and its more complete neuroticisation.Conclusions. Recovery processes in the injured peripheral nerve occur better with the simultaneous formation of an immediate welded epineural joint of the ends and partial immobilization of the limb.

AbstractThe paper is concerned with determining the influence of the laser treatment process on the properties of electro-spark coatings. The properties of the coatings after laser treatment were assessed based on following methods: microstructure and X-ray diffraction analysis, adhesion tests, roughness measurement, hardness tests, tribological properties and application tests. The tests were carried out on WC-Co coating (the anode) obtained by electro-spark deposition over carbon steel C45 (the cathode) and molten with a laser beam. The coatings were deposited by means of the EIL-8A and they were laser treated with the Nd:YAG. The tests show that the laser-treated electro-spark deposited WC-Co coatings are characterized by lower hardness, higher seizure resistance, roughness and adhesion. The laser treatment process causes the homogenization of the chemical composition, the structure refinement and the healing of microcracks and pores of the electro-spark deposited coatings. Laser treated electro-spark deposited coatings are likely to be applied in sliding friction pairs and as protective coatings.

The technology of HIFU-ablation has a number of advantages in comparison with other methods of treatment of patients with uterine myoma, since it is non-invasive, organ-preserving, has no clinically significant general effect on the body, is not accompanied by a long period of rehabilitation and temporary disability. The objective: was to increase the effectiveness of treatment of women with uterine myoma by optimizing the protocols of ultrasound ablation. Patients and methods. The clinical material consisted of 90 remote ultrasound ablations for women diagnosed with «symptomatic myoma of the uterus body», which were performed at KMECC, the Center for Nuclear Medicine. The procedure was carried out on a JC apparatus (manufactured by: Chongqing Haifu (HIFU) Technology Co., Ltd., China). Results. The power during treatment was 350±70 W, the total energy was 282 487±47 650 J, the average time of insonation was 765±137 s. With dynamic observation, the regression of the volume of myoma nodes on average averaged 25±14.6% after 1 month, 33±12.9% after 3 months, and 61±17.8% after 6 months. But 4 (9,7%) patients had an unsatisfactory effect after the procedure, and the treatment was continued. All patients recorded a decrease in clinical symptoms already in the first month after the procedure. When the procedure was performed, 5 (12.2%) patients had a first-degree skin burn, 14 (34.1%) women had a short-term increase in body temperature to 37.6°C on the day of the procedure, which stabilized independently in for 3 days, in 1 (2.4%) – cystitis. The conclusion. The method is selective, does not damage surrounding tissues, thereby being safe for the endometrium, which is important for maintaining fertility. The area of fibrosis, which is formed after treatment and the regression process of the myoma node, is safe for further gestation. For the clinical evaluation of this method, its impact on the quality of life, immediate and long-term results, further accumulation and analysis of the clinical material is necessary. Abstract The article presents the results of testing filter media with various natural sorbents. When studying the absorbing properties of zeolite, charcoal and gravel sand, their properties of removing heavy metals such as Zn, Ca, Cu, Fe, as well as ammonium nitrogen were studied. During experimental studies, all studied ion exchangers showed absorption properties to varying degrees. After calculating the static capacities of each of the studied sorbents, he showed that the best absorption properties are aluminosilicate (zeolite). After completing experimental studies within 48 hours, the best moisture-absorbing effect was observed with zeolite, after 12 hours of contact with poultry wastewater, it removed 64.7 percent of the total iron, and activated carbon and gravel sand only 15.4 percent. The result of research in the study of the absorption properties of heavy metals, ammonium nitrogen ions, showed that zeolite has the highest quality wastewater treatment. The removal of ions of chemical elements was more than 60 percent within 12 hours of being in the liquid phase, in contrast to charcoal and gravel sand.

The formation of the basis for personalized medicine of the future should be based on the prognostic and preventive principles of medicine. The article presents an overview of the information on the method and application of the CME (complex medical expert) analysis. The features of the method, the object domain of its application, its task and methodology are described. The scheme of the options used to increase the efficiency of the method is of interest. The strengths and the shortcomings of the CME analysis noted by experts in the field of its application are given. Results. The authors propose an innovative technology for using the CME model to develop personalized forecasting, preservation, development, and management of health. The advantages of the technology and the urgency of its application are revealed. The new technology is based on the provisions of the development of the theory of the essential adaptation. To ensure the health state, the level of functioning of body systems must be consistent with the optimality, namely with the response norms, which determine the individual phenotype. In the process of the organism adaptation to the conditions of the external environment, the central nervous system and the significant body system (the system with the maximum response norm), which determine the specific and nonspecific responses of the organism, respectively, will be especially active (it is a known fact). Discussion. Dominant systems can actively involve other body systems in the adaptation process by the principle of interaction with them, increasing or decreasing their activity. Taking into account the direction of interaction (inhibition, toning), this fact becomes important for understanding the pathogenesis of diseases, their targeted prevention, and treatment. A comprehensive record of the mechanisms of the formation of a specific and nonspecific reaction is used with the aim of identifying and effectively preventing functional disorders in the body. The CME technology of personalized forecasting, preservation, development and health management eliminates the main drawbacks of CME analysis. On the other hand, the CME analysis technology helps to expand the range of its application, depending on the opportunities and threats of the environment. Conclusion. The presented approach will make it possible to optimally use the human potential to maintain a high quality of life and active longevity.

Abstract wastewater treatment technology is an important issue because of numerous organic and inorganic impurities in municipal, industrial, and agricultural waters. Different systems of wastewater treatment used the microorganisms for the removal of organic materials, most species of algae represent promising biosystems for treating of wastewater by transformation or direct uptake of pollutants and improving the purification performance of bacterial systems. This work aimed to study the efficiency of immobilization technology using immobilized cells of green algae Chlorella vulgaris in the treatment of domestic wastewater. Some physical and chemical characteristics of domestic wastewater were examined and the percentage of treatment efficiency with free and immobilized cells of alga were compared. The results of the study presented high reduction of EC, salinity, TDS, total alkalinity, hardness, calcium, and chloride with slight induction of pH values to the basal side after treatment with free and immobilized algae. After (3,5,7) days of treatment with free microalgae and immobilized microalgae, the recorded value of wastewater had been eliminated to (2.09, 2, 1.8) μs/cm and (2.36, 1.27, 1.07) μs/cm of EC; (689, 580, 520) mg/L and (620,520,489) mg/L of the total hardness; (320, 244, 220) mg/L and (300, 244, 204 ) mg/L of the calcium; (420, 369, 309) mg/L and (400, 340, 289) mg/L of chloride, respectively, while pH value increased to (8.6, 8.7, 8.6) after treated with free microalgae. The results showed high efficiency of mobilized algae compared with free algal cells in reducing many physical and chemical parameters and the immobilized algal cell technique is useful as tools in the treatment process of wastewater.

<p class="abstract">Oocyte donation or egg donation is a process in which one woman donates eggs (oocytes) to another women in order to conceive. The process involves in vitro fertilization and it is seen as third party reproduction in the assisted reproductive technology. The oocytes from the donor are combined with the spermatozoa from the recipient to produce embryos. However, the treatment has some risk factors that afterwards need to be taken care of. One of the complications is delayed or stopped period and the acupuncture treatment can efficiently solve this problem. The treated patient is a 34 year old woman with 3 months delay in the period after receiving hormone therapy for egg donation. The patient was treated with normal needle acupuncture on the meridians of spleen, kidney, pericardium, stomach, liver, large intestine, bladder, ren mai and du mai. Treatments were made indoor, with duration of 35-40 minutes both sides of the body. In the treatment were used fine sterile disposable needles. After only one treatment the period was back and normalized. The patient has made 6 treatments. After the 6<sup>th</sup> treatment the second period was normal again. Acupuncture treatment as part of the 5000 years old Traditional Chinese Medicine, as in many other menstrual disorders, it is as well successful treatment in menstrual disorder after egg donation and gives very satisfying and positive results in a very short time.</p>

Metal wastewater and saline wastewater are two major problems in the field of wastewater treatment. At present, common treatment methods include ion exchange, electrodialysis and reverse osmosis. The ion exchange method often uses chemical reagents to achieve regeneration, which is likely to cause secondary pollution after treatment. Electrodeionization technology can continuously operate to treat wastewater, and does not require the use of acid-base reagents to achieve resin regeneration, but the structure is complex and requires higher pretreatment. Bipolar membrane electro-regenerative ion exchange is a new technology that has been practically applied in water supply treatment by a certain enterprise. A considerable degree of ion exchange capacity, after reaching the exchange capacity, the bipolar membrane is used for water dissociation to achieve electrical regeneration of the membrane. On the basis of investigating the desalination and regeneration of groundwater (well water) by this technology, this paper studies its removal effect on simulated food processing salty wastewater, Cu2+ and Fe2+ containing simulated electroplating rinsing wastewater. Influence of operating conditions such as influent flow on the treatment effect.

Abstract The polluted wastewater treatment is one of the main issues in agro-industrial complex. This article is devoted to the primary water purification research for its further treatment with ferrate technology. The technology implies the wastewater treatment from household and industrial waste resulting from agricultural enterprises. The ferrate technology provides a high efficiency of pretreated water purification, in comparison with other existing methods. The article substantiates such an advantage accordingly. The waste generated as a result of wastewater treatment is non-toxic and disposal. The article proposes a new method of preliminary water purification based on its treatment between a galvanic couple in the presence of the calcium hydroxide. This method can be used at water treatment plants and at enterprises carrying out industrial activities in agriculture. The method is applicable only after mechanical filtration at the stage of primary water treatment. The proposed method provides water treatment from a wide range of various origins contaminants. The article also describes an experimental equipment specially designed for the proposed method’s implementation and further research. The equipment provides continuous water treatment consuming electricity, quicklime and compressed air. To maintain the lime particles in suspension condition the airflow is supplied through an aerator. The article applies the turbidimetric analysis method to conduct an in-depth analysis of the water treatment processes and determine the relative reagent concentration in the working area. The article also proves the absence of interface formation between water and milk of lime when subjected to air flow.

Supercritical water (SCW) has both the solvent power approximate to liquids and the transport properties common to gases. It is therefore expected as an excellent solvent for industrial waste treatment. In this study, various building materials were treated with SCW, and their morphological changes after treatment were observed. The effects of SCW treatment on the pore structure and compressive strength of cement concrete and mortar were also investigated. In the range of this study, after SCW treatment, inorganic materials and organic materials can be recovered as solids and liquids, respectively. Under sub-critical and super-critical temperature and pressure conditions, compressive strength of mortar decreases, while the effective pore volume increases.

Tertiary wastewater treatment with microalgae incorporates environmental sustainability with future technologies and high exploitation costs. Despite the apparent ecological benefits of microalgae-assisted wastewater treatment/biomass-based resource production, technological improvements are still essential to compete with other technologies. Bio-flocculation instead of mechanical harvesting has been demonstrated as an alternative cost-effective approach. So far, mostly filamentous fungi of genus Aspergillus have been used for this purpose. Within this study, we demonstrate a novel approach of using white-rot fungi, with especially high potential of algae—Irpex lacteus complex that demonstrates efficiency with various microalgae species at a broad range of temperatures (5–20 °C) and various pH levels. Harvesting of microalgae from primary and secondary wastewater resulted in 73–93% removal efficiencies within the first 24 h and up to 95% after 48 h. The apparent reuse potential of the algae—I. lacteus pellets further complements the reduced operating costs and environmental sustainability of bio-flocculation technology.

The existing technologies for copper-porphyry ores enrichment, located in deposits in the Urals of Russia, allow the production of chalcopyrite concentrates of the following composition, %: 21.5 Cu, 24.5 Fe, 26.5 S, 0.4 Pb, 17.6 SiO2, 1.8 CaO, 2–6 Au (ppm), 20– 40 Ag (ppm). A conventional technology for processing such concentrates includes autogenous smelting, matte desulfurization and blister copper refining. Pressure oxidation leaching (POX) is considered the most promising alternative technology for chalcopyrite concentrate processing. The POX of concentrates originated from Mikheevskii GOK allow the production a cake of the following chemical composition, %: 56–65 Fe2O3, 25–30 SiO2, 2.7 Ca, 0.3–1.0 Cu, 2–7 S, 0.6–0.8 Pb, 4–12 Au (ppm), 40–80 Ag (ppm); mass loss was 37–45 %. A standard method of cake cyaniding provides satisfactory indicators of precious metal extraction, but it requires a cumbersome area to be arranged for their processing and offers no solution for residue disposal. In this regard, this paper investigates the method of subsequent cake processing using autoclave treatment (AT) for iron removal. The study shows how the following parameters affect the results of this process: t = 110÷210 °C, H2SO4 = 15÷60 g/dm3, τ = 45÷ ÷120 min. A statistic description of the AT operation is developed. Recommended AT conditions (t = 110 °C, H2SO4 = 60 g/dm3, τ = 60÷100 min) allow to obtain the POX cake yield reduced to 30–35 % of the source material with the following composition, %: 28–33 Fe2O3, 47–53 SiO2, 2–5 Ca, 0.6–2.0 Cu, 0.8–1.5 Pb, 2–8 S. At the same time, the content of precious metals in the cake reaches 12–16 Au (ppm) and 80–120 Ag (ppm). Options for using AT products are proposed.
