Повний текст джерелаThe aim of my PhD work was to examine the reasons, motives or combination of variables characterizing adherence or non-adherence to a program of Adapted Physical Activity (APA) on medical prescription. To this purpose, four studies were carried out using different theoretical approaches. These were: Study 1 and 2, to explore, identify and understand the structure of motives for adhering to APA program, using Reversal Theory (Apter, 2001); Study 3, to identify the structure of motives for adhering to APA program in a mountain environment, using the push/pull/anti-push/anti-pull model (Fernandez et al., 2006); In Study 4, to discover how individuals cognitively integrate or combine different variables (from previous studies) when deciding to adhere to APA program (Anderson, 2008).In the first study, 30 participants were invited to take part in semi-structured interviews. In the second study, 455 participants completed a questionnaire based on the results of Study 1 and the literature. This inventoried the reasons for adhering or refusing to adhere to the APA program. In the third study, 453 participants completed a questionnaire based on a preliminary survey and the literature. This inventoried the reasons for adhering or refusing to adhere to the APA program in the mountain environment. In the fourth study, 199 participants responded to scenarios based on the literature and our results from previous studies. Participants were asked about their propensity to adhere or refuse to adhere to an APA program according to different variables (monitoring, reimbursement, environment).Study 1 showed that the will to achieve a goal (telic state) and the will to follow the rules (conformist state) were the reasons most given by participants for adhering to an adapted physical activity program. On the other hand, personal concerns (intra-autistic state) and the need to free oneself from the doctor's restrictions (negativistic state) were the main reasons given for refusing to take part in an adapted physical activity program. Study 2 allowed us to identify five factors promoting adherence to an APA program (i.e., "Control of pathology"; "Social aspect of APA"; "Regaining sensations"; "Influence of close family and friends"; "Improvement of health condition"), as well as four factors contributing to refusal to adhere to an APA program (i.e.., "Denial of health condition"; "Financial and personal cost"; "Poor quality of APA monitoring"; "Negative physical and social consequences"). Study 3 confirmed the push-pull anti-push-pull structure of the decision to adhere to an APA program in a mountain environment. Study 4 shows that monitoring, refunding and the environment all play a part in the decision to adhere to the program. It also shows that, depending on motivation, participants do not use the same cognitive rules. These studies have allowed us to gain a better understanding of the factors at the origin of adherence and non-adherence to an APA program. They can help doctors and public health workers to adapt their communication when faced with this type of situation

Повний текст джерелаScientific and academic recognition of the benefits of regular physical activity (PA) in the prevention of overweight and obesity has made possible the development of new professional dynamics around PA in childhood obesity prevention and management networks—known as REPOPs—in France. The creation of a new offer of PA services intended to encourage young patients in their commitment to regularly engage in physical activity rallies together the medical profession (general practitioners, paediatricians, sports medicine physicians), other healthcare professions (dieticians, physiotherapists), and sports and physical activity professionals (Adapted Physical Activity and Health (APAH) teachers, sport teachers). Lying at the interface between the sociology of professional groups and the sociology of sport, this paper aims to study the creation of a jurisdiction of Adapted Physical Activity and Health (APAH) in REPOPs. These systems have the distinctive feature of being under construction and bringing together the specific and interdisciplinary competencies of professional groups around a common project. Alongside the groups already established in the medical field, the emerging APAH group is using this multidisciplinary arena to build its own jurisdiction in a collaborative manner that, paradoxically, is giving rise to direct competition with the other groups. Using Andrew Abbott’s theoretical approach (2003), this dynamic is explored at the point where the perspectives of the professions, those of young patients and their families, and those of the government, converge

Повний текст джерелаThe growing evolution of obesity has not spared children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities. Ours studies based on "research-action", with the aim of improving care for people with mental disabilities. Conducted in 5 specialized schools, our first study shows that over 40% of adolescents with intellectual disabilities have an excess body fat. More than 30% of adolescents report a low physical activity level, and only half reaches enough physical activity to avoid an excess of body fat. Moreover, the most active adolescents are less likely to develop an excess body fat. Their low level of physical fitness is a high risk factor to health. For these adolescent with intellectual disabilities, this is an "extra-handicap" which may increase the restriction of social participation and impair quality of life. Being active daily would reduce the health risks, including limiting the obesity development. Thus, we proposed an Adapted Physical Activity program to over-fatness adolescents. This program has helped to increase level of physical activity and stabilize weight, while decreasing fat mass and waist circumference. The interdisciplinary approach of this research has allowed us to consider the evolution of self-concept and to note that it was not altered by this weight management program

Повний текст джерелаTherapeutic Patient Education (TPE) programs are an integral part of the management of cardiac patients in Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR). They allow patients to change certain lifestyle habits, such as being more active in daily life. Generally speaking, we seek to make the patient more active after rehabilitation by fighting against the harmful effects of physical inactivity. This research work aims to evaluate, in the short and long term, the effects of a new physical activity-based (PA) TPE strategy, and to observe the transformation of certain lifestyle habits of cardiac patients, but also to analyze the determinants of health. We studied 295 patients (71 women and 224 men) after cardiovascular rehabilitation management in which they participated in a TPE program. We compared three groups of patients: one group with traditional CR, one group with traditional CR and follow-up at 6/12 months, one group with CR including a new educational approach and follow-up at 6/12 months. For all these groups, we evaluated in pre/posttest: knowledge of PA, level of PA by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), follow-up of PA recommendations, a Six Minute Walk Test (6MWT), maximum strength of different muscle groups, weight and body composition by impedance-metry. We have found that patients who have benefited from the new approach significantly improve their knowledge of physical activity by obtaining an average grade of 15.9 to 6 months and maintain what they have learned 1 year after the end of rehabilitation. These patients remain sufficiently active after rehabilitation with a 99% increase in weekly energy expenditure. The group with a new therapeutic education program maintains better physical abilities with stabilization of walking distance on the SMWT test and muscle strength.A patient-based PA education program during cardiovascular rehabilitation provides knowledge that can be used to maintain new lifestyles, including physical activity. This new program also helps to combat social inequalities in health

Повний текст джерелаIn sports and physical activities, gestures often carry an affective connotation. However the constraints due to their complexity when used in the communication process as signs system produced by human behavior could multiply difficulties on the of scientific analyses and studies. Thus, methods used to interpret the human movements and gestures have evolved in last decades, due to an increasing use of quantitative data. Nowadays researchers are working on decision-making by collecting behavioral significant information, especially during human-interactions in sports activities. Thus, since more than forty years, researches such as in motor praxeology analysis the internal logic of sports practices through systemic and structural analyses. Consequently a classification of sports activities was raised and gave eight different domains of motor action. These domains are based on the nature of physical environment (certain or uncertain environment), the attendance of opponents and/or partners. The aim of this thesis is to propose a systemic and structural methodological approach by comparing through a meta-analysis the impact of a regular sports practice in three different domains of motor activities on motor-behavior and decision-making. Our approach is built on an experimental model previously established by modeling the paradoxal game called the ―four corners game‖. Thus a smart wireless system for modeling visual and auditory searching behavior was conceived for measuring simple and complex reaction time. B-percept® helps as well to make observations, self-efficacy survey, test score-predictions and personal self-physical profile. This research allowed us to find relevant results. However, we need to be cautious about their generalization. Indeed, we have found that practicing sport positively influences the simple and complex reaction times and significantly increases self-efficacy of sports practitioners. Moreover, they could have a better ability to predict their scores at B-percept® tests. Meta-analysis through sports specialties and habitus were proceeded to improve results‘ analyzes, however, we still needing several investigations through future researches to propose a generalization of the equation model of B-percept®. In the near future, this experimental new model will be available for researchers in physical education and sports, teachers and coaches. It could also be proposed to training centers for students with special needs (handicap). We are looking forward helping to improve scholar programs made from sports activities as to be classified through the domain of actions
