Performance on heuristics and bias tasks has been shown to be susceptible to bias. In turn, susceptibility to bias varies as a function of individual differences in cognitive abilities (e.g., intelligence) and thinking styles (e.g., propensity for reflection). Using a classic task (i.e., lawyer–engineer problem), we conducted two experiments to examine the differential contributions of cognitive abilities versus thinking styles to performance. The results of Experiment 1 demonstrated that the Cognitive Reflection Test (CRT)—a well-established measure of reflective thinking—predicted performance on conflict problems (where base rates and intuition point in opposite directions), whereas STM predicted performance on nonconflict problems. Experiment 2 conducted in the fMRI scanner replicated this behavioral dissociation and enabled us to probe their neural correlates. As predicted, conflict problems were associated with greater activation in the ACC—a key region for conflict detection—even in cases when participants responded stereotypically. In participants with higher CRT scores, conflict problems were associated with greater activation in the posterior cingulate cortex (PCC), and activation in PCC covaried in relation to CRT scores during conflict problems. Also, CRT scores predicted activation in PCC in conflict problems (over and above nonconflict problems). Our results suggest that individual differences in reflective thinking as measured by CRT are related to brain activation in PCC—a region involved in regulating attention between external and internal foci. We discuss the implications of our findings in terms of PCC's possible involvement in switching from intuitive to analytic mode of thought.

This study examines the blood-oxygen level dependent (BOLD) activation of the brain associated with the four distinctive thinking styles associated with the four personality orientations of the Gountas Personality Orientations (GPO) survey: Emotion/Feeling-Action, Material/Pragmatic, Intuitive/Imaginative, and Thinking/Logical. The theoretical postulation is that each of the four personality orientations has a dominant (primary) thinking style and a shadow (secondary) thinking style/trait. The participants (N = 40) were initially surveyed to determine their dominant (primary) and secondary thinking styles. Based on participant responses, equal numbers of each dominant thinking style were selected for neuroimaging using a unique fMRI cognitive activation paradigm. The neuroimaging data support the general theoretical hypothesis of the existence of four different BOLD activation patterns, associated with each of the four thinking styles. The fMRI data analysis suggests that each thinking style may have its own cognitive activation system, involving the frontal ventromedial, posterior medial, parietal, motor, and orbitofrontal cortex. The data also suggest that there is a left hemisphere relationship for the Material/Pragmatic and Thinking/Logical styles and a right activation relationship for Emotional/Feeling and Intuitive/Imaginative styles. Additionally, the unique self-reflection paradigm demonstrated that perception of self or self-image, may be influenced by personality type; a finding of potentially far-reaching implications.

Intensive self-reflection with affective imagery was expected to increase relative right hemispheric activation and intensify facial expressions of negative affect. Six individuals were encouraged to reflect on personal problems or concerns in two different ways. In one condition, they attended to feelings related to a personal problem and characterized their feelings using imagery. In a second condition, they explained a personal problem and characterized their thoughts using words. In the feeling-imagery condition, participants' parietal EEG indicated greater relative right hemispheric activation, resulting in a pattern of bilateral hemispheric activation. There were no differences between conditions in corrugator or zygomatic EMG. The increased involvement of the right hemisphere during intensive self-reflection may facilitate discrimination of affect-related physiological events and, thus, affective insight.

Thermal process characterization based on calculating effective activation energies from variable temperature diffuse reflection infrared spectroscopy (VT-DRIFTS) measurements is demonstrated. Experimental factors that affect the accuracies of activation energy values are outlined. Infrared radiation scattering efficiency, thermal conductivity, and inertness towards chemical reactions are factors that should be considered when selecting an appropriate diluent for preparing samples. The Kubelka–Munk representation is superior to apparent absorbance when baseline variations in spectra measured at different temperatures can be minimized. Variable-temperature infrared spectral features, such as integrated absorption band area, can be used to compute isoconversion effective activation energies, provided that measured quantities are proportional to species concentrations.

Background: The integrative cognitive model of mood swings proposes that mood symptoms are driven by extreme, self-referent appraisals. For example, if activated mood is appraised positively, this prompts selection of mood regulation strategies that act to up-regulate mood. Appraisals are driven by fast and automatic Type 1 cognitive processes, which, left unchecked, can cause activated mood to escalate. Aims: It was hypothesized that greater propensity to override these automatic processes by engaging in reflective (Type 2) thinking would be negatively associated with extreme appraisals of activation and activation. Method: Study 1 (n = 150) was a cross-sectional survey consisting of measures of activation, extreme appraisals, and an objective performance-based measure of the propensity to engage in reflective thought (cognitive reflection test; CRT). In Study 2 (n = 241) participants completed these measures plus three alternative measures of effortful cognitive engagement (CRT-2, Need for Cognition and Actively Open-Minded Thinking). Results: In Study 1, propensity to engage in reflective thought (higher CRT scores) was not significantly associated with activated mood or extreme appraisals, but activated mood and extreme appraisals were positively correlated. In study 2, the association between activation and extreme appraisals was replicated. Predicted associations between alternative measures of reflective thinking, activated mood, and extreme appraisals were not found. Conclusions: Extreme appraisals of internal states may be a psychological mechanism underlying activated mood. Propensity to reflect on and override default cognitions was unrelated to these extreme appraisals and activated mood. Further research in a clinical sample using mood-relevant measures of reflective thinking is warranted.

Many studies in affective neuroimaging have addressed the question of how the "self" is represented in brain activation. The medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is implicated in many of these studies and an essential component self-representation in the brain. In this study we looked at differences between men and women in the mPFC in terms of how they assessed comparisons of the body image. Participants viewed images of thin and overweight bodies and were asked to consider how they would feel if someone were to compare them to the image. Brain activations were measured using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Results indicate that men did not react significantly differently to thin or overweight images while women showed increased mPFC activation when considering comparison to the overweight images. These findings provide some insight into the differences between men and women in terms of self-evaluation and body image.

The bacterial phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C (PI-PLC) from Bacillus thuringiensis is specifically activated by low concentrations of a non-substrate lipid, phosphatidylcholine (PC), presented as an interface. However, if the PC concentration in the interface is too high relative to substrate, the enzyme exhibits surface dilution inhibition. Understanding this bacterial enzyme, which shares many kinetic features with the larger and more complex mammalian PI-PLC enzymes, requires elucidating the mechanism for PC activation and inhibition. Various techniques were applied to study the interaction of the protein with vesicles composed of both the activator lipid PC and the substrate lipid (or a nonhydrolyzable analogue). Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), used to monitor bulk partitioning of the enzyme on vesicles, revealed that both the PC and the substrate analogue are required for the tightest binding of the PI-PLC to vesicles. Furthermore, the tightest binding occurred at low mole fractions of substrate-like phospholipids. Field cycling 31P NMR (fc-P-NMR) spin-lattice relaxation studies provided information on how bound protein affects the lipid dynamics in mixed substrate analogue/PC vesicles. The combination of the two techniques could explain the enzyme kinetic profile for the PC activation and surface dilution inhibition: small amounts of PC in an interface enhanced PI-PLC binding to substrate-rich vesicles while high fractions of PC tended to sequester the enzyme from the bulk of its substrate leading to reduced specific activity. FCS binding profiles of mutant proteins were particularly useful in determining if a specific mutation affected a single or both phospholipid binding modes. In addition, an allosteric PC binding site was identified by fc-P-NMR and site directed spin labeling. A proposed model for PC activation suggested surface-induced dimerization of the protein. Experiments in support of the model used cysteine mutations to create covalent dimers of this PI-PLC. Two of these disulfide linked dimers, formed from W242C or S250C, exhibited higher specific activities and tighter binding to PC surfaces. In addition, single molecule total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy was used to monitor the off-rate of PI-PLC from surface tethered vesicles, providing us with a direct measure of off-rates of the protein from different composition vesicles

This study aimed to explore the practice of activation teaching of a novice high school science teacher. In addition, the effects of activation teaching on students and teacher’s reflections were discussed. Case study was applied and the researcher served as the case teacher in this study. Students were grouped into high, average, and low achievement groups based on their performances in previous semester. Pair-wise t test were applied to examine the effects on their learning achievements. Qualitative data were analyzed to examine the effects on their motivations. The results showed as the following. 1. Teachers should applied different teaching methods according to students' responses while practicing activation teaching. 2. The effects of activation teaching differed among students of different abilities. The achievements of students in the low-group increased significantly, while the learning motivations increased for all of the three ability groups. 3. The practice of activation teaching enabled the case teacher to rethink his teaching processes, learn more about teaching and students' learning, and accelerated the professional development of the researcher as well. Suggestions about activation teaching were provided based on the results.

The current chapter revisits an earlier account (2005) of how inner speech leads to self-reflection. Definitions, functions, neuroanatomy, and measurement of self-reflection and inner speech are first presented, followed by the detailed proposal suggesting that these two processes are connected in at least three possible ways. Empirical evidence supporting this proposal is discussed, as well as theoretical considerations pertaining to underlying mechanisms explaining how self-reflection and inner speech may interrelate. To illustrate, several self-referential tasks used in typical fMRI studies show a reliable activation of the left inferior frontal gyrus—the main brain area known to sustain inner speech; inner speech can reproduce (i.e. internalize) already existing social mechanisms leading to self-reflection. Some possible philosophical and clinical implications of the role played by inner speech in self-reflection are outlined in conclusion.

This chapter examines how much the graduate students’ decisions about approaching confidants were deliberative as opposed to spontaneous—whether they assessed pros and cons before deciding whom to ask or instead spontaneously spilled their emotions on the spot. It first considers the standard assumption in theories of purposive action across the social sciences that deliberation precedes action. It then discusses three decisions that a person inherently makes when he or she mobilizes his or her network: to seek help, to select a confidant, and to activate the tie. The chapter suggests that the extent to which their activation decisions were incidental or spontaneous, rather than reflective, depended in part on the context of students’ interactions with others. It argues that students often found themselves confiding in someone not because they had planned it, but simply because the confidant was present and available when needed.

This chapter examines the concept of free will as it is discussed in philosophy and neuroscience. It reviews reflective and perceptual theories of agency and argues against neuro-centric conclusions about the illusory nature of free will. Experiments conducted by Benjamin Libet suggest that neural activations prior to conscious awareness predict specific actions. This has been taken as evidence that challenges the traditional notion of free will. Libet’s experiments, arguably, are about motor control processes on an elementary timescale and say nothing about freely willed intentional actions embedded in personal and social contexts that involve longer-term, narrative timescales. One implication of this interpretation is that enactivism is not a form of simple behaviorism. Agency is not a thing reducible to elementary neuronal processes; nor is it an idea or a pure consciousness. It rather involves a structure of complex relations.

Although metacognition is considered to be the highest human cognitive function and a crucial self-reflective function allowing us to have free will, finding where this modern “pineal gland” resides in the brain is an enterprise fraught with peril. Searching for metacognition in the brain is like searching for the Holy Grail: It always seems to be in the next valley. We focus on two considerations. First, metacognitions are conscious. They spontaneously occur when something goes wrong, and conflict-based “feeling states” are manifest. We argue that when metacognitive feelings are spontaneous, feeling states are adaptive because they trigger action needed to resolve conflict. Conscious feeling states are, therefore, related to the control functions of metacognition. Second, metacognitive feelings are self-referential. They refer to the core person and indicate that conflict being experienced is a potential threat to the self. These two considerations drive our search for neural activations related to metacognition.

Josef Breuer presented his initial work on the inner ear to the Imperial Society of Physicians in 1873. His basic premise was that the semicircular canals sense angular movement of the head by movement of the fluid (endolymph) within them. The endolymph moves relative to the walls of the canals because of its inertia. In dissecting the semicircular canals of pigeons, he noted nerve endings contacting cells at the base of the ampulla and microscopic hairs extending from the top of the cells into a gelatinous bulb (the cupula). He hypothesized that movement of the endolymph fluid triggered by angular head movements bent the tiny hairs, activating the nerve endings at the base of the hair cells. The nerves in turn passed on signals reflecting the direction and magnitude of hair deflection to the central nervous system. At approximately the same time, Ernst Mach came to a similar conclusion.

Programmable Integrated Photonics (PIP) is a new paradigm that aims at designing common integrated optical hardware configurations, which by suitable programming can implement a variety of functionalities that, in turn, can be exploited as basic operations in many application fields. Programmability enables by means of external control signals both chip reconfiguration for multifunction operation as well as chip stabilization against non-ideal operation due to fluctuations in environmental conditions and fabrication errors. Programming also allows activating parts of the chip, which are not essential for the implementation of a given functionality but can be of help in reducing noise levels through the diversion of undesired reflections. After some years where the Application Specific Photonic Integrated Circuit (ASPIC) paradigm has completely dominated the field of integrated optics, there is an increasing interest in PIP justified by the surge of a number of emerging applications that are and will be calling for true flexibility, reconfigurability as well as low-cost, compact and low-power consuming devices. This book aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to this emergent field covering aspects that range from the basic aspects of technologies and building photonic component blocks to the design alternatives and principles of complex programmable photonics circuits, their limiting factors, techniques for characterization and performance monitoring/control and their salient applications both in the classical as well as in the quantum information fields. The book concentrates and focuses mainly on the distinctive features of programmable photonics as compared to more traditional ASPIC approaches.

While MRI became a standard workhorse in neurology/neurosurgery within a few years of installation of the first MRI unit, fMRI, in spite of being a powerful imaging tool, remains primarily a research tool, even though the first fMRI study was published 25 years ago. Scientifically, fMRI has made a major impact, judging by the number of PubMed citations and publications in high-impact journals. In cognitive neuroscience, fMRI is the most commonly used imaging technique in published peer-reviewed articles. fMRI is used clinically for preoperative brain mapping in neurosurgery to delineate the proximity of the lesion (tumor) to eloquent areas of the brain, with the aim of achieving adequate tumor resection with minimal functional damage to the brain. fMRI connectivity and activation maps have identified altered activation patterns and resting-state networks in psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, and Alzheimer’s disease, but fMRI is still not a standard diagnostic procedure in psychiatry. Diffusion imaging technique is being used for triaging stroke patients who are likely to respond to stroke therapy (embolectomy and/or clot lysis). Meanwhile, major collaborative fMRI studies are in progress in many institutions to collect normative data on connectivity, activation response, and behavioral response as well as correlation among them. Studies focused on specific neuropsychiatric disorders also have been initiated by the National Institutes of Health. All this is a reflection of the huge potential application of fMRI in clinical practice envisioned by the scientific community.

This chapter focuses on the representation of flexible learning paths and teaching sequences with concept maps. It is based on the concept of the teacher as a learning designer and the flexibility and personalization of the learning process through student-centered strategies. Examples of concept maps based on two categories of representation are shown: 1) the learning path to be followed by the students (teacher's perspective) and 2) the student's personal learning path. Thus, supported by previous research on university teaching strategies, learning paths, and learning sequences, some examples are presented according to the three moments of intervention (activation, development, and closure) and the cyclical model of self-regulated learning (planning, execution, and self-reflection). In this way, concept maps are shown to be a powerful tool to represent personal learning paths and to enhance teaching-learning processes.

For large scale CSP power plants, vast areas of land are needed in deserts and semi-arid climates where uninterrupted solar irradiance is most abundant. These power facilities use large arrays of mirrors to reflect and concentrate sunlight onto collectors, however, dust deposition on the optical surfaces causes obscuration of sunlight, resulting in large energy-yield losses in solar plants. This problem is compounded by the lack of natural clean water resources for conventional cleaning of solar mirrors, often with reflective surface areas of large installations exceeding a million square meters. To investigate the application of transparent electrodynamic screens (EDS) for efficient and cost effective dust removal from solar mirrors, both optical modeling and experimental verifications were performed. Prototype EDS-integrated mirrors were constructed by depositing a set of parallel transparent electrodes into the sun-facing surface of solar mirrors and coating electrodes with thin transparent dielectric film. Activation of the electrodes with a three-phase voltage creates an electrodynamic field that charges and repels dust electrostatically by Coulomb force and sweeps away particles by a traveling electrodynamic wave. We report here brief discussions on (1) rate of deposition and the properties of dust with respect to their size distribution and chemical composition in semi-arid areas of the southwest US and Mojave Desert and their adhesion to solar mirrors, (2) optical models of: (a) specular reflection losses caused by scattering and absorption by dust particles deposited on the surface based on Mie scattering theory, and (b) reflection loss by the integration of EDS on the mirror surface, computed by FRED ray-tracing model. The objective is to maintain specular reflectivity of 90% or higher by frequent removal of dust by EDS. Our studies show that the incorporation of transparent EDS would cause an initial loss of 3% but would be able to maintain specular reflectivity more than 90% to meet the industrial requirement for CSP plants. Specular reflection measurements taken inside a climate controlled environmental chamber show that EDS integration can restore specular reflectivity and would be able to prevent major degradation of the optical surface caused by the deposition of dust.

In order to apply the multi-particle collision dynamics (MPCD) method to a magnetic particle suspension, we have elucidated the dependence of the translational and rotational Brownian motion of magnetic particles on the MPCD parameters that characterize the MPCD simulation method. We here consider a two-dimensional system composed of magnetic spherical particles in thermodynamic equilibrium. The diffuse reflection model has been employed for treating the interactions between fluid and magnetic particles. In the diffuse reflection model, the interactions between fluid and magnetic particles are transferred into the translational motion more strongly than into the rotational motion of magnetic particles. The employment of relatively small simulation time steps gives rise to a satisfactory level of the translational Brownian motion. The activation level of the Brownian motion is almost independent of both the size of the unit collision cell and the number of fluid particles per cell. Larger values of the maximum rotation angle induce stronger translational and rotational Brownian motion, but in the present magnetic particle suspension the range between around π/4 and π/2 seems to be reasonable. We may conclude that the MPCD method with the simple diffuse reflection model is a feasible simulation technique as the first approximation for analyzing the behavior of magnetic particles in a suspension. If more accurate solutions regarding the aggregate structures of magnetic particles are required, the introduction of the scaling coefficient regarding the interactions between fluid and magnetic particles can yield more accurate and physically reasonable aggregate structures in both a qualitative and quantitative meanings.

Focal adhesions (FAs) and their associated integrins are thought to act as mechanosensors and transducers of shear stress into intracellular biochemical signals. However, to date there exists no quantification of the magnitude of forces generated at integrin molecules in response to apically-applied fluid shear stress. Thus, we used finite element analysis of fluid dynamics and cellular stresses to compute FA stresses from solid models of focally-adhered endothelial cells. These models were developed from quantitative 3-D microscopy and total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy of calcein-stained endothelial cells. Extrusion coupling variables mapped stresses from the macroscale cell model to individual microscale 3-D models of FAs determined from quantitative TIRF. Included in the microscale FA model were moduli for subcellular matrix (SCM) (e.g. hyaluronan, hyaluronaic acid and other glycocalyx constituents) and extracellular matrix (ECM) (e.g. collagen, fibronectin). Integrin forces were estimated from assumed bonds densities and computed FA stresses. Maximal bond tension obtained from the simulation for a single integrin-extracellular matrix (ECM) bond was .1pN. Thus, it is unlikely that integrin-ECM bonds or chemical activities are appreciably affected by shear stress. The computational model, however, supports an alternative model of activation in and reorganization of FAs in which shear stress-induced forces cause the membrane to bend toward and away from the ECM immediately upstream and downstream of the FA, respectively. The simulation also suggests that the elasticity of the SCM plays an important role in modulating shear-induced FA reorganization. These results support a new model of endothelial cell activation by shear stress in which integrins and FAs participate in the directional biasing of force-induce signaling but do not initiate it.

Platelets come contact collagen exposed on the subendothelial matrix at sites of vascular injury that triggers their activation and the formation of a hemostatic plug. Glycoprotein VI and integrin α2β1 are major collagen receptors on the platelet surface. Although the spreading of platelets on the collagen is important to function, it has been difficult to study the dynamics of spreading over a relevant time scale. Here we focus on the early stages of murine platelet spreading on collagen and/or fibrinogen under both static conditions and flow and then probe their dynamics by quantitative visualization using real-time reflection interference contrast microscopy. In this study, we found under static conditions the spreading area of platelets on collagen initially increased quickly by following the power law A ∼ t0.7 before slowing. Interestingly, we observed in microchannels under flow that single platelets as well as aggregates that were spread on the collagen contracted over time under shear. This contraction was not observed under static conditions in our system. This effect might help to maintain the hemostatic plug under the shear force. Future studies will be aimed at investigating the spatial-temporal cytoskeletal dynamics of platelets and the functions of collagen receptors on the platelets surface using platelets derived from genetically engineered mice.

The functional domains of Factor VIII have been investigated using site-directed mutagenesis to probe the effect of thrombin cleavage on pro-cofactor/cofactor activity. We have previously shown that clotting activity is obtained upon coexpression of the amino terminal (92 kDa) heavy chain and carboxyl terminal (80 kDa) light chain proteolytic cleavage products as individual, secreted proteins without the909 amino acid central region (Burke et.al., J. Biol. Chem. 261, 12574, 1986). In the present work the thrombin cleavage sites in the heavy and light chains previously characterized by others (D. Eaton et.al., Biochemistry 25, 505, 1986) have been modified to remove these sites and the mutagenized gene reassembled into separate expression vectors for the two chains. Coexpression of wild type and mutant proteins in COS-7 cells has been characterized by coagulant activity, immunological assays specific for each of the two chains, and radioimmuno-precipitations. Alteration of the thrombin cleavage site in the heavy chain (Arg-372→ΔArg-372) leads to loss of coagulant activity, whereas another mutant Arg-372→Lys-372 shows 20-fold reduced activity. Radioimmunoprecipitations and RIA data show that this is not a reflection of reduced synthesis or increased degradation of the mutant polypeptides. These results suggest that Arg-372 is required for the efficient folding, assembly, or proteolytic activation of Factor VIII.

A common issue in Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) is the release of corrosion products from the steam generator tubes in primary circuit which gives rise, after their neutronic activation, to a residual activity very problematic during chemistry transients. The objectives of this work are not to solve directly this problem but rather to improve the understanding of this phenomenon by determining experimentally the kinetics of oxidation and metallic cations release of nickel base alloys. These results will contribute to progress in the building of a physical mechanism. The specificity of the test facility is (i) the on-line measurements of cation release rate by a highly sensitive analytical device and (ii) the in-situ measurement of oxidation rate by Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS). The primary water chemistry is controlled by means of a circulating micro-loop in titanium to avoid any interference with the test samples. A specific test vena is connected between the titanium micro-loop and the analytical device for on-line measurements. Metallic cation release from SG tube-samples is deduced from the measurement of nickel and iron concentrations in upstream the test vena by use of differential polarography and ICP-AES techniques. The precision on the determination of Ni and Fe concentrations is assumed to be a few tens of ppt. Oxidation or corrosion measurements are performed off-line by optical diffuse reflectance measurements specifically developed in this framework. The corrosion sample is mounted in a High Temperature and Pressure (HT-HP) spectroscopic flow-through cell connected to the test vena and fed with the primary chemistry from the titanium micro-loop. Analysis of reflection spectra provides the thickness of oxide layer. A set of parameters such as (i) temperature, (ii) hydrogen content and (iii) metallurgical surface state in nominal primary chemistry for test durations of 1500–2000 hours is planned to be investigated in the frame of metallic cation release and oxidation kinetics measurements of Ni base alloys. The aim of this paper is focused on the presentation of the online technique specifically developed in the French Technical Centre of AREVA NP to determine the metallic cation release and oxidation kinetic of Ni base alloys in primary water chemistry. First results of cation release and oxidation rate are given for shorter duration test.

Fuzzy-Neuro Network based nonlinear equalizer (FNN-NLE) has been used for the extenuation of nonlinearities in optical communication systems. Until now, many membership functions with resilient backpropagation activation function was used for making FNN-NLE in a coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) systems. Despite this, no research is reflecting the comparison of different membership functions (MFs). In this paper, various membership functions such as gaussian MF, gaussian combination MF, triangular MF, difference between two sigmoidal functions MF, pi shaped MF, generalized bell shaped MF, trapezoidal MF and product of two sigmoid functions MF has been compared. From this study, the maximum performance in terms of BER is achieved with gaussian membership function has been concluded.

In modern conditions, innovative augmented reality technologies are actively developing, which are widespread in many areas of human activity. Introduction of advanced developments in the process of professional training of future specialists of socionomic professions in the conditions of adaptive training, contributes to the implementation of the principles of a personalized approach and increase the overall level of competitiveness. The relevant scientific article is devoted to the theoretical and empirical analysis result of conducting a psychodiagnostic study on an innovative computer complex HC-psychotest. of the features of the implementation of augmented reality technologies in the construct of traditional psychological and pedagogical support aimed at the development of emotional intelligence of the future specialist. The interdisciplinary approach was used while carrying out the research work at the expense of the general fund of the state budget: “Adaptive system for individualization and personalization of professional training of future specialists in the conditions of blended learning”. A comprehensive study of the implementation of traditional psychological-pedagogical and innovative augmented reality technologies was conducted in the framework of scientific cooperation of STEAM-Laboratory, Laboratory of Psychophysiological Research and Laboratory of Psychology of Health in Bogdan Khmelnitsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University. The theoretical analysis considers the structural model of emotional intelligence of the future specialist of socionomic professions, which is represented by two structural components: intrapersonal construct of emotional intelligence and interpersonal construct of emotional intelligence. Each component mediates the inherent emotional intelligence of interpretive, regulatory, adaptive, stress-protective and activating functions. The algorithm of the empirical block of research is presented by two stages: ascertaining and forming research. According to the results of the statement, low indicators were found on most scales, reflecting the general level of emotional intelligence development of future specialists, actualizing the need to find and implement effective measures for the development of emotional intelligence components in modern higher education and taking into account information development and digitalization. As part of the formative stage of the research implementation, a comprehensive program “Development of emotional intelligence of future professionals” was tested, which integrated traditional psychological and pedagogical technologies and innovative augmented reality technologies. This program is designed for 24 hours, 6 thematic classes of 4 hours. According to the results of a comprehensive ascertaining and shaping research, the effectiveness of the influence of augmented reality technologies on the general index of emotional intelligence is proved. The step-by-step model of integration of augmented reality components influencing the ability to analyze, understand and regulate emotional states into a complex program of emotional intelligence development is demonstrated. According to the results of the formative study, there is a dominance of high indicators of the following components: intrapersonal (50%), interpersonal (53.3%). Thus, we can say that intrapersonal and interpersonal emotional intelligence together involve the actualization of various cognitive processes and skills, and are related to each other.
