BackgroundHyperuricemia (HU) is a metabolic abnormality associated with psoriasis (PsO) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA)1. The prevalence of HU is 2–13% in general population, 19–20% in PsO patients (pts), and 27–32% in PsA pts1,2. Pts with PsO/PsA are at significantly increased risk of HU and development of gout1. The pathogenic role of chronic HU in the development and maintenance of PsA is based on epidemiological, clinical, and fundamental arguments and hence does not appear fortuitous. These processes can influence each other3. Moreover, PsA with HU has been shown to be more peripheral, destructive, and challenging to treat4.ObjectivesTo evaluate the impact of HU on PsA in terms of clinical presentation, severity, comorbidities, and response to secukinumab (SEC) over 1-year.MethodsThis post hoc analysis included pooled data from PsA pts enrolled in the FUTURE 2–5 and MAXIMISE phase 3 trials. Pts were stratified into 2 groups based on baseline (BL) serum uric acid (SUA) level (HU: ≥360 µmol/L; without HU: <360 µmol/L and no history of gout and/or uric acid lowering therapies [ULT]). Demographic and disease characteristics, PsA and therapeutic history, and comorbidities data, were collected at BL. Evaluations included ACR20/50/70 responses, Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) 90 response, resolution of enthesitis and dactylitis, Health Assessment Questionnaire Disability Index (HAQ-DI), and mean change in SUA level, up to Week 52. All analyses were performed at a descriptive level and data presented as observed.ResultsOverall, 2504 PsA pts were included in the analysis, of which 822 (32.8%) had HU (62 [2.5%] with gout; 49 [2.0%] treated with ULT). At BL, pts with HU were mostly male (76.0% vs 34.2%) and had a higher body mass index (30.9 vs 28.3 kg/m2) with more comorbidities, such as hypertension (43.8% vs 31.3%), compared to pts without HU. A higher proportion of pts with HU had dactylitis (34.5% vs 25.9%), and PsO (48.3% vs 36.3%) with a greater mean PASI score (13.6 vs 10.2), compared to pts without HU (Table 1). The proportion of pts achieving ACR50, resolution of enthesitis/dactylitis, and mean change in HAQ-DI score were comparable up to Week 52 irrespective of BL HU status. Absztrakt: Bevezetés: 2020. március végén a SARS-CoV-2-vírusfertőzöttség (COVID–19-betegség) diagnosztizálására megjelentek Magyarországon a vírussal szembeni specifikus antitestek jelenlétét kimutató gyorstesztek. Célkitűzés: Munkánkban két gyorsteszt, az Anhui és a Clungene teszt diagnosztikai teljesítményét értékeltük a fertőzés kimutatásában arany standardnak számító ’real-time’ (valós idejű) PCR (a továbbiakban: PCR) vizsgálati eredmények alapján. Módszer: 2020. március 16. és április 14. között intézetünk 20 120, COVID–19-fertőzéssel kapcsolatos rekordot küldött be az országos adatszolgáltató rendszeren keresztül. Ebben 4140 személynél csak IgM és IgG jelenlétét kimutató gyorstesztvizsgálat történt; 3210 személynél csak PCR-teszt, 1654 személynél pedig PCR- és gyorstesztvizsgálat (Anhui: 625, Clungene: 1029) végzésére maximum 3 nap eltéréssel is sor került. PCR-pozitívnak azt a személyt tekintettük, akinél bármikor PCR-pozitivitás fordult elő, illetve antitestpozitívnak azt, akinél IgM- és/vagy IgG-pozitivitást észleltünk. (Megjegyzés: a Clungene tesztet Lungene néven is forgalmazzák.) Eredmények: A 4864, PCR-rel vizsgált személy közül 308 volt PCR-pozitív (a PCR-pozitivitás prevalenciája 6,3% volt). A PCR alapján az Anhui gyorsteszt szenzitivitása 33,3%, specificitása 72,85%; a Clungene gyorsteszt szenzitivitása 35,48%, specificitása 85,02% volt. 6%-os PCR-pozitivitási prevalencia esetén a pozitív és a negatív prediktív érték az Anhui gyorsteszt esetében 7,28%, illetve 94,48%, míg a Clungene gyorsteszt esetében 13,13%, illetve 95,38% volt. Következtetés: Az aktuális fertőzöttségi prevalencia melletti alacsony pozitív prediktív értékek alapján az általunk értékelt gyorstesztek jelenleg nem alkalmasak a SARS-CoV-2-vírusfertőzöttség (PCR-pozitivitás) kimutatására az általános populációban. Az Anhui és a Clungene gyorstesztek negatív eredményei a jelenlegi 6%-os prevalencia mellett mintegy 95%-os valószínűséggel jelzik a SARS-CoV-2-vírusexpozíció hiányát. Az Anhui és a Clungene – SARS-CoV-2 vírus elleni IgM- és IgG-antitesteket kimutató – gyorstesztek alkalmazása a COVID–19-fertőzés differenciáldiagnosztikájában szakmailag vállalhatatlan. E. halochloris thylakoids and spheroplasts were treated with trypsin, thermolysin or proteinase K to determine which proteins are exposed at the different membrane surfaces. Based on SDS polyacrylamide analysis, all 9 polypeptides are exposed on the cytoplasmic side. Only one (28 kDa) is accessible from the periplasmic side. This polypeptide is generally isolated as the H-subunit of the reaction centers of photosynthetic bacteria, but is in the case of E. halochloris rather isolated with the antenna (B 800/1020) (Steiner and Scheer, Biochim . Biophys. Acta 807, 278, 1983).Proteolysis is accompanied by a shift of the absorption band at longest wavelengths from 1020 to 960 nm (B 800/960), which upon standing is shifted further to 680 nm (“B” 800/680). The spectral changes are similar to the ones reported earlier for treatment with acid, and are also inducible with urea. The correlation of SDS-PAGE and absorption spectroscopy shows, that the chroophores absorbing at 1020 nm are transformed sim ultaneously with the degradation of the 6.5 kDa (=α) polypeptide.

Ni-base Inconel 625 alloys with a composition of 58.9Ni-22Cr-9Mo-5Fe 3.5Nb-0.4Si-0.4Mn-0.4Al-0.4Ti (wt.%) corroded at 600, 700 and 800 °C for up to 30 h in 1 atm of N2/H2O/H2S-mixed gases. They corroded fast owing to the formation of sulfides and the presence of hydrogen and water vapor in the gas. Triple layered scales formed. Nickel corroded to NiS to form the outer NiS layer, where Fe was dissolved. Chromium corroded to Cr-sulfides to form the middle layer. Other alloying elements such as Mo, Nb, Si, Mn, Al, and Ti corroded to form the inner layer that consisted primarily of intermixed sulfides and oxides. Since sulfides were present throughout the scale and hydrogen made the scale porous and fragile, Inconel 625 was nonprotective during high-temperature corrosion in N2/H2O/H2S gases.

Aim This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sarcopenia and change in bone mineral density (BMD) and functional outcome in hip arthroplasty patients. Methods: Among the 221 patients who had undergone hip arthroplasty, 147 patients were enrolled. All patients were divided into 2 groups according to presence of sarcopenia. Bone mineral density (BMD) at hospitalization and 1-year after surgery and Barthel index was measured at the time of before injury, hospitalization, 3 months and 1-year after surgery. Results: BMD at hospitalization showed .627 ± .082 (g/cm2) in Sarcopenia and .726 ± .059 (g/cm2) in Non-sarcopenia at femur (total) site ( P < .001), .531 ± .085 (g/cm2) vs .629 ± .057 (g/cm2) at femur neck site (P=.002), .715 ± .084 (g/cm2) vs .807 ± .058 (g/cm2) at lumbar (L1-L4) site ( P < .001). BMD at 1-year follow-up period, Sarcopenia showed .626 ± .082 (g/cm2) and Non-sarcopenia showed .725 ± .060 (g/cm2) at femur (total) site ( P < .001), .530 ± .085 (g/cm2) vs .629 ± .058 (g/cm2) at femur neck site ( P < .001), .715 ± .084 (g/cm2) vs .806 ± .058 (g/cm2) at lumbar (L1-L4) site ( P < .001). Change of BMD showed −.01 ± .25% for Sarcopenia and −.15 ± .47% for Non-sarcopenia in femur (total) site (P=.089), −.08 ± .63% vs −.01 ± 1.01% in femur neck site ( P = .058), .00 ± .09% vs −.12 ± .33% for each group in lumbar (L1-L4) site ( P = .052). Barthel index score showed 79.94 ± 5.66 for Sarcopenia and 84.74 ± 5.36 for Non-sarcopenia at pre-injury status ( P < .001), 33.89 ± 4.94 vs 33.87 ± 5.36 at the time of hospitalization ( P = .977), 57.42 ± 7.19 vs 60.06 ± 5.39 at 3 months follow up ( P = .015), 73.86 ± 5.94 vs 80.71 ± 4.81 for each group at 1-year follow up ( P < .001). Conclusions: Our study found that the sarcopenia showed lower BMD than the non-sarcopenia, but there was no significant difference of BMD change in the follow-up period. In addition, the sarcopenia showed poor functional results at all points except at the time of hospitalization.

Foram avaliadas as silagens de quatro genótipos de girassol (Helianthus annuus) (Rumbosol 91, Victoria 627, Victoria 807 e Mycogen 93338), pela técnica semiautomática de produção de gases. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, sendo as médias comparadas pelo teste SNK (p<0,05). O genótipo Rumbosol 91 apresentou a maior produção acumulativa de gases para o tempo de 96 horas de incubação com valor de 128,47mL/g de MS, e o menor valor foi observado para o genótipo Victoria 807 com 92,88. Não foram observadas diferenças entre os valores de degradabilidade da matéria seca (DMS) para as silagens avaliadas nos diferentes tempos. O potencial máximo de produção de gases variou de 91,67 para o genótipo Victoria 807 a 125,46mL/g de MS para a silagem do genótipo Rumbosol 91. O genótipo Rumbosol 91 apresentou a maior DMS para as taxas de passagem de 2 e 5% com valores de 46,39 e 43,26%. O maior valor para taxa de passagem (8%) foi observado para o genótipo Victoria 627. As silagens dos genótipos Rumbosol 91 e Victoria 627 mostraram destacado potencial para produção de gases e taxa de produção de gases.

305 Background: Cholangiocarcinomas account for approximately 3% of gastrointestinal tumors. Our aim was to analyze types of prior malignancies in patients (pts) with cholangiocarcinoma, with a special interest in pts with prior breast cancer. Methods: An IRB waiver was obtained to retrospectively review female pts who presented with an initial diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center between January 2000 and August 2015. Results: Medical records of 804 female pts were reviewed. After excluding pts with limited records or without biopsy-proven cholangiocarcinoma, a total of 625 pts were analyzed. Of 625 pts with cholangiocarcinoma, 506 (81%) were intrahepatic (ICC), 85 (14%) hilar, 24 (4%) extrahepatic and 10 (2%) mixed ICC and hepatocellular carcinoma or rare variant. The median age at cholangiocarcinoma diagnosis was 63 years [range: 16-97 years] and 82.7% were white. Of the 625 pts, 105 (17%) had a history of another cancer: 44 (7.04%) breast, 9 (1.44%) colon, 9 (1.44%) melanoma and 5 (0.8%) ovarian. The remaining 38 pts with various prior cancers were grouped as Other. There was no association between the site of cholangiocarcinoma (intrahepatic versus extrahepatic) and type of prior cancer (p = 0.26). In pts with a prior cancer (n = 105), the median time from diagnosis of prior cancer to cholangiocarcinoma was 76 months [range: 2-624 months], which did not differ among types of prior malignancies (p = 0.25). The interval between diagnosis of breast cancer and cholangiocarcinoma was 82 months [range 4-526 months]. In pts with prior breast cancer, 21 (48%) received radiation and 25 (57%) received chemotherapy for their breast cancer. In 22 pts who had ER/PR testing, 16 were ER positive and 15 were PR positive. In 17 pts who had HER2 testing, 4 were HER2 positive. Conclusions: In 625 female pts with cholangiocarcinoma, 17% had a history of another cancer, with 44 (7%) having a history of breast cancer. The apparent increase in proportions of prior breast cancer compared to other cancers should be investigated further. An analysis of tumor mutations (MSK-IMPACT) and germline mutations in pts with cholangiocarcinoma and a history of breast cancer is underway to determine a potential association of molecular factors.

Abstract Background: Renal vein thrombosis (RVT) is the most frequent site of primary venous thrombosis in neonates. At present, there is no conventional therapeutic regimen for this condition. Objective: To establish current clinical guidelines based on data from the Canadian Pediatric Hemostasis and Thrombosis Network (CPHTN). Materials and Methods: A standardized questionnaire was sent to CPHTN members involved with pediatric thrombosis care. Clinical variables included thrombus location (unilateral vs. bilateral), severity (non-occlusive vs. occlusive), extension to the inferior vena cava (IVC+), and concomitant bleeding at diagnosis [i.e. hematuria with thrombocytopenia (H/T+), with/without ≥ grade 2 intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH+/−)]. Results: A total of 16 pediatric hematologists participated, with a response rate of approximately 80%. Regarding diagnostic imaging, the most utilized methods were the following: a) Doppler ultrasound (U/S) in 14/16 (87.5%); b) U/S without Doppler in 1/16 (6.25%); and c) contrast venography in 1/16 (6.25%). 12/16 (75%) of the physicians would have ordered a thrombophilia work up. For unilateral, non-occlusive, H/T− or H/T+ cases, management included, respectively: 1) no therapy in 11/16 (68.75%) and 9/16 (56.25%); 2) low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) in 2/16 (12.5%) (3-month-course) and 3/16 (18.75%) (14-day or 3-month course); and 3) therapy based on radiologic follow up (f/u) in 3/16 (18.75%) and 4/16 (25%). For unilateral, occlusive, H/T+, IVH− or IVH+ cases, management included: 1) no therapy in 5/16 (31.25%) and 10/16 (62.5%); 2) LMWH in 6/16 (37.5%) and 4/16 (25%); and 3) treatment based on f/u findings in 5/16 (31.25%) and 2/16 (12.5%). For bilateral, occlusive, IVC−, IVH− cases, management included: 1) LMWH (2 weeks to 3 months) in 12/16 (75%); 2) tissue-plasminogen activator (t-PA) in 1/16 (6.25%); 3) LMWH and t-PA in 2/16 (12.5%); and 4) therapy based on f/u in 1/16 (6.25%). Finally, for bilateral, occlusive, IVC+, IVH− or +, the responses were, in that order: 1) LMWH (6 weeks to 3 months) in 10/16 (62.5%) and 11/16 (68.75%); 2) t-PA in 3/16 (18.75%) and 0/16; 3) LMWH and t-PA in 2/16 (12.5%) and 0/16; 4) treatment based on f/u in 1/16 (6.25%) in both groups; 5) no therapy in 2/16 (12.5%) of the latter group only; and 6) unknown in 2/16 (12.5%) of the latter group only. The anti-Xa level (0.5 to 1.0 range) was the only assay suggested for monitoring LMWH. Standard heparin was monitored by anti-Xa levels in only 3/16 (18.75%) of cases. Consultation sources included 1) combined sources (i.e. books, protocols, journals) in 10/16 (62.5%) cases; 2) journals in 4/16 (25%) cases; and 3) 1-800-NO-CLOTS in 2/16 (12.5%) cases. 15/16 (93.75%) of the participating physicians supported the idea of developing therapeutic protocols. Conclusions: Currently, there are no standard therapeutic practices with respect to neonatal RVT. It would be difficult to successfully complete a randomized clinical trial due to small numbers. However, multicenter, prospective studies utilizing consistent therapeutic approaches would be extremely helpful in this clinical setting.

e14501 Background: The type 1 insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF-1R) plays a critical role in mitogenesis and survival in a variety of human tumor cells. IGF-1R is also closely related to the insulin receptor (IR). It is becoming increasingly evident that stimulation of IR or IR/IGF-1R hybrid receptors by insulin or IGF-1/2 may contribute to cancer growth, suggesting that both IGF-1R and IR may be targets for cancer therapy. BMS-754807 (‘807) is an oral IGF-1R tyrosine kinase antagonist under development that also blocks IR activity. This study explores the feasibility of fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) and fluorothymidine (FLT) positron emission tomography (PET) as pharmacodynamic imaging biomarkers in a xenograft model. Methods: Mice were implanted with fragments of Sal-IGF, a transgenic salivary gland tumor expressing constitutively active IGF-1R. Once tumors reached desired size, the mice were divided into 3 treatment groups (vehicle, 6.25 mg/kg ‘807, & 50 mg/kg ‘807 on days 1–4). FDG-PET scans were performed on day -2 (prior to treatment), days 1 & 2 (max/min concentrations post day 1 dose), and days 4 & 5 (max/min day 4 dose). FLT-PET scans were performed on days -2, 2 (min day 1 dose), & 5 (min day 4 dose). Results: With FDG-PET imaging, a 66% reduction (P<0.05, paired t-test) in tumor SUVmean was observed at the end of the 50 mg/kg therapy (day 4) and sustained for 24h (day 5) with a concomitant reduction of 37% in tumor burden by day 5 (P<0.05). FLT-PET studies demonstrated a 45% reduction (P<0.05) in tumor SUVmean observed 24h after the end of 50 mg/kg therapy (day 5) with a concomitant reduction of 50% in tumor burden (day 5, P<0.05). Conclusions: Correlation with tumor growth inhibition suggests feasibility of FDG- PET despite IR blockade. These results support the use of both FDG and FLT PET imaging in clinical trials with ‘807. Multiple-mesa-fin-channel array patterned by a laser interference photolithography system and gallium oxide (Ga2O3) gate oxide layer deposited by a vapor cooling condensation system were employed in double-channel Al0.83In0.17N/GaN/Al0.18Ga0.82N/GaN heterostructured-metal-oxide-semiconductors (MOSHEMTs). The double-channel was constructed by the polarized Al0.18Ga0.82N/GaN channel 1 and band discontinued lattice-matched Al0.83In0.17N/GaN channel 2. Because of the superior gate control capability, the generally induced double-hump transconductance characteristics of double-channel MOSHEMTs were not obtained in the devices. The superior gate control capability was contributed by the side-wall electrical field modulation in the fin-channel. Owing to the high-insulating Ga2O3 gate oxide layer and the high-quality interface between the Ga2O3 and GaN layers, low noise power density of 8.7 × 10−14 Hz−1 and low Hooge’s coefficient of 6.25 × 10−6 of flicker noise were obtained. Furthermore, the devices had a unit gain cutoff frequency of 6.5 GHz and a maximal oscillation frequency of 12.6 GHz.

Multivariate multilevel survival analysis is introduced for studying hazard rates of observed emotional behavior relevant for coercion theory. Finite time sampling reliability (FTSR) and short-term retest reliability (STRR) across two occasions (sessions) of observation during structured problem-solving tasks several weeks apart were determined for hazard rates of emotional behaviors for parent–child dyads. While FTSR was high (.80–.96), STRR was low (.16–.65), suggesting that emotional behaviors in the context of parent–child social interaction are not very stable over a period of several weeks. Using latent variable structural equation models that corrected for the low STRR, two hazard rates were predictive of change in child antisocial behavior over a 3-year period (kindergarten to third grade) net of initial child antisocial behavior. Low levels of parent positive emotion and increases from session 1 to 2 of child neutral behavior both accounted for unique variance in third grade antisocial behavior.

This chapter examines the research on sex differences and gender identification in computer-mediated interaction (CMI), and presents a pilot study of synchronous, anonymous, one-to-one interactions, to understand the extent to which a person’s “real life” sex can be identified in CMIs as well as the stylistic and linguistic cues that “mark” someone as “male” or “female.” Although previous research has reported sex differences in a number of different variables (e.g., number of words, disagreements), analysis of the transcripts in this study revealed only one significant difference, in that men corrected themselves more often than women. Furthermore, participants correctly guessed the sex of their partner 62.5% of the time, felt approximately 65% sure of their guess, and used gender stereotypes to make their assessments. Implications for anonymity and CMI research are discussed, focusing on the conditions under which sex differences and gender stereotypes become relevant in on-line interactions.

Influenza causes annual, seasonal epidemics that lead to tens of thousands of deaths each year in the United States. Two influenza A strains (H3N2 and H1N1) and 1 or 2 influenza B strains typically circulate during winter months and undergo minor antigenic mutations (antigenic drift) resulting in annual seasonal epidemics. Influenza pandemics occur more rarely (every 20-30 years) and are the result of major antigenic changes (antigenic shift) leading to large numbers of infections due to low levels of population immunity. In seasonal epidemics, 80% to 90% of deaths due to influenza occur in persons older than 65 years.

Each year in the United States, approximately 220,000 new cases of lung cancer are diagnosed and approximately 158,000 people die of lung cancer. Lung cancer accounts for approximately 27% of all cancer deaths. Most patients with a new diagnosis of lung cancer are older than 65 years. About 95% of lung cancers in men and about 80% of lung cancers in women result from cigarette smoking. Men who smoke 1 to 2 packs per day have up to a 25-fold increased risk for lung cancer compared with men who have never smoked. The risk of lung cancer for a former smoker decreases with time.

Falls remain the leading cause of intentional and unintentional injuries worldwide. On average, 80% of the cases are said to originate from low and middle developing countries. The raising concerns are that a great number of children and elderlies above the age of 65 are the most affected. Falls are one of the most serious health risks especially for older adults and children in Namibia. The implications of falls on public health practice are that approximately half of older adults do not discuss their fall incidents with healthcare providers. The aim of this chapter is, therefore, to define the concept falls focusing in the Namibian context and outlining the causes, highlighting the most vulnerable groups, and identifying the preventive measures.

The objective is to study the scope and incidence of various types of sexual violence behaviors experienced by women on campus: undergraduate women; postgraduate women; research scholars; and faculty. This chapter explores types, kind and nature of sexually harassing behaviors; sexual harassment, rape, sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence, experienced by women in campus; the occurrence of different type of behavior among women in age group of 18 to 65 years. Finding indicates 80 percent acknowledged sexual and psychologically offensive behavior. About 70 percent of total sample acknowledged that they were sexually assaulted. A very small percent 2 percent acknowledged of being attempted raped and 89 percent underwent stalking.

The Daphniphyllum alkaloids are a diverse group, some of which exhibit potent biological activity. Amos B. Smith III of the University of Pennsylvania envisioned (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2014, 136, 870) the preparation of the bicyclo[2.2.2] core of (−)-calyciphylline N 3 by the intramolecular Diels–Alder cyclization of 1 to 2, with the silicon of 2 a surrogate for the secondary alcohol of 3. Following the precedent of Mori (Tetrahedron Asymm. 2005, 16, 685), the requisite secondary center of 1 was set by methylation of the anion derived from the Evans acyl oxazolidinone 4. Reductive removal of the oxazolidinone led to the alcohol 5, that was reduced under Birch conditions, then isomerized with base to the desired conjugated diene 6. This was silylated with the alkenyl silane 7 to give the triene 1. Direct thermal cyclization of 1 gave a mixture of all four possible diastereomers of the cycloadduct. Fortunately, the Lewis acid-activated cyclization delivered 2 as the dominant diastereomer. To differentiate the two ends of the alkene, the ester of 2 was extended to the alcohol 8. Epoxidation occurred from the more open face of the alkene, setting the stage for intramolecular opening and oxidation to give 9. Reduction with SmI2 and protection then completed the preparation of the ketone 10. The third quaternary center of 3 was constructed by acetylation of 10 followed by Pd-catalyzed allylation, to give 11. On exposure to LDA, the derived iodide 12 smoothly cyclized to the cycloheptanone 13, the structure of which was confirmed by X-ray analysis. The alkene of 13 was converted to the primary alcohol, which was protected. The aryl lithium 14 then was used to selectively open the cyclic silyl ether, to give 15. Coupling with phthalimide followed by carbonylative vinylation of the derived vinyl triflate delivered the dienone 16. Exposure to HBF4 effected the desired Nazarov cyclization, and at the same time converted the aryl silane to the fluorosilane, set for the Tamao oxidation that revealed the secondary alcohol. The two alcohols were sequentially protected to give 17. Direct oxidation of the primary silyl ether gave the aldehyde.

This chapter seeks to examine the impact of COVID-19 on the Turkish tourism economy. Towards this end, first of all, tourist arrivals and tourism income of Turkey were compared between pre-pandemic and within the pandemic period. Afterwards, to investigate whether COVID-19 leads to a decrease in stock prices of tourism firms, the return data of 11 firms listed in the Borsa Istanbul restaurants and hotels subsector for 10 months were examined by panel data methods. According to comparison of tourist arrivals and tourism income to the previous year, there was a vital decrease as 69% and 65% respectively in 2020. Moreover, coverage rate of foreign trade deficit of tourism income in Turkey decreased almost 80% in 2020. Overall, results of pooled OLS regression analysis revealed that COVID-19 cases and COVID-19-related deaths were decreasing monthly stock price returns. Based on these findings, it is recommended to policymakers to find better policies for a better tourism economy.

Introdução: Compostos mesoiônicos, são substâncias lipofílicas que possuem uma distribuição desigual de elétrons, lhes permitindo ter atividade biológica. Nesse trabalho foi estudada a citotoxicidade e efeito antiangiogênico do composto mesoiônico MI-D (cloreto de 4-fenil-5-[4-nitrocinamoil]-1,3,4- tiadiazólio-2-fenilamina), sobre células de neuroblastoma (SH-SY5Y). Para os experimentos envolvendo a angiogênese foi utilizada a membrana corioalantóica (CAM) de embrião de galinha, um tecido extra embrionário, altamente vascularizado que apresenta respostas semelhantes a mamíferos. Objetivos: Avaliar histologicamente os resultados do uso do MI-D sobre células de neuroblastoma (NB) enxertadas na CAM. Material e métodos: Para os testes de citotoxicidade in vitro, foram cultivadas células de neuroblastoma em meio DMEM, essas foram expostas a diferentes concentrações da droga (1,6; 3,12; 6,25; 12,5; 25 e 50 µM), por 24 horas, após isso foi avaliada a perda de viabilidade celular. Os experimentos in vivo foram realizados no 9º dia embrionário dos ovos, foi feita uma abertura na casca para a expor a CAM e nela colocados implantes contendo células tumorais acompanhadas de diferentes concentrações de MI-D (12,5, 25 e 50 µM) e retornadas à incubação. 3 dias depois, as janelas foram reabertas para documentação fotográfica da CAM e contagem de vasos. Uma amostra da membrana foi removida para o estudo histológico e o embrião foi eutanasiado. Resultados: A droga in vitro, provocou uma grande redução na viabilidade celular (cerca de 60-80%). Nos testes in vivo observou-se a fixação das células do NB na membrana. Porém, não foi possível observar o efeito antiangiogênico do composto, pois que ele foi letal aos embriões. Conclusão: Observou-se que o MI-D apresentou capacidade citotóxica in vitro, ocasionando grande perda na viabilidade celular. Os experimentos envolvendo a CAM, mostraram, nas análises preliminares, que as células de NB conseguiram se fixar na membrana. Mas nas condições desse protocolo, o MI-D foi letal aos embriões.

Introdução: A atrazina é considerada o herbicida mais utilizado no mundo, tem ação seletiva e sistêmica e é indicada para o controle de plantas daninhas infestantes de culturas variadas. Os resíduos deste herbicida são frequentemente encontrados no ambiente, o que pode resultar em riscos para a reprodução animal e humana. Em laboratório, a atrazina mostrou ser um químico com potencial de causar diversos danos ao funcionamento adequado dos organismos, mas pouco se sabe sobre os seus efeitos sobre o desenvolvimento embrionário animal e humano. Objetivo: No presente estudo buscouse analisar a ação da atrazina sobre o desenvolvimento embrionário de amniotos, utilizando embriões de galinha como modelo. Material e Métodos: Foram realizadas injeções in ovo de atrazina em três concentrações, iniciando com a concentração de resíduos no limite máximo permitido em água potável (2 µg/L) (n=65), seguindo para 20 µg/L (n=65) e, por fim, 200 µg/L (n=72), todos realizados em triplicata, e com seus próprios controles (solução de acetonitrila a 250 μg/L) (n=64; n=64; n=67, respectivamente). Após um período de incubação de sete dias, os embriões coletados foram analisados para mortalidade, presença de malformações, peso total do corpo e estágio do desenvolvimento. Resultados: Após análise estatística, foi verificado que não houve diferença significativa para nenhuma das variáveis analisadas, entre tratados e controle, indicando que a atrazina não afetou a mortalidade dos embriões tratados, que apresentaram um desenvolvimento normal. Contudo, apesar da falta de significância dos dados, foram observadas malformações durante as análises, como alterações encefálicas, do tronco, dos membros e hemorragias. Conclusões: A atrazina não afetou significativamente a taxa de mortalidade, a presença de malformações, o peso do embrião e o estágio do desenvolvimento, quando aplicada em injeção aguda nas concentrações de 2 µg/L, 20 µg/L e 200 µg/L em ovos de galinha.

Performance of an experimental diesel engine was investigated when fueled with CTL20 (80% ULSD#2 (ultra-low sulfur diesel) blended with 20% Fischer-Tropsch coal-to-liquid (CTL) fuel. CTL fuel was selected given its potential as an alternative fuel that can supplement the ULSD supply. Combustion and emissions were studied in a common rail, supercharged, single cylinder DI engine with 15% exhaust gas recirculation operated at 1500 RPM and 4.5 bar IMEP in reference to a diesel baseline. The injection pressure was varied from 800–1200 bar while injection timing was tested from 15° to 22° CAD BTDC to optimize combustion. Similar in-cylinder pressures and temperatures were observed for both fuels at the same injection pressure and timing; the maximum heat release and in cylinder pressure and temperatures increased with higher rail pressure. CTL20 had a retarded premixed burn peak by 5 to 8 J/CAD compared to diesel at the same injection pressure and timing. This can be related to a delayed ignition of CTL20 which allowed for higher peak premixed combustion. In-cylinder convection and radiation heat fluxes were stable across injection pressures for both fuels around 1.7 MW/m2 and 0.4 MW/m2, respectively. NOx decreased with CTL20 at higher injection pressure while soot was relatively increased at lower injection pressure. CTL20 decreased BSFC by 3–5% compared to ULSD#2 at 800–1200 bar injection. The mechanical efficiency was maintained around 65% for ULSD#2 as well as for CTL20 during operation at all injection pressures. The study suggests that CTL fuel can be used at 20% as a binary mixture in ULSD#2 while sustaining performance in the experimental engine.

This work presents high speed thermographic measurements of the melt pool length during single track laser scans on nickel alloy 625 substrates. Scans are made using a commercial laser powder bed fusion machine while measurements of the radiation from the surface are made using a high speed (1800 frames per second) infrared camera. The melt pool length measurement is based on the detection of the liquidus-solidus transition that is evident in the temperature profile. Seven different combinations of programmed laser power (49 W to 195 W) and scan speed (200 mm/s to 800 mm/s) are investigated and numerous replications using a variety of scan lengths (4 mm to 12 mm) are performed. Results show that the melt pool length reaches steady state within 2 mm of the start of each scan. Melt pool length increases with laser power, but its relationship with scan speed is less obvious because there is no significant difference between cases performed at the highest laser power of 195 W. Although keyholing appears to affect the anticipated trends in melt pool length, further research is required.

The fast acting specific plasminogen activator inhibitor PAI-1 produced in endothelial cells and present in plasma and thrombocytes is known also to be released from certain tumour cell lines. The specific plasminogen activator inhibitor PAI-2 of placental type and present in pregnancy plasma is also released from a histocytoma cell line.We examined ascitic fluid for the presence of PAI-1 and PAI-2 in five patients with advanced ovarian carcinoma. The antigen levels of PAI-1 and PAI-2 were assayed with sandwich ELISAs using a combination of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies and the activity of PAI-1 was in addition measured by an activity assay (BioPool). The antigen level of PAI-1 ranged between 110 and 800 ug/1 (mean 315 μg/1) and the activity between 5 and 16 U/ml (mean 12 U/ml). Antigen levels of PAI-2 ranged from 10 to 62 ug/1 (mean 30 μg/ml), i.e. approximately 35 (12-72) % of the concentration of PAI-2 in term plasma. In blood samples obtained from three of the patients during surgery from veins draining the tumors, the concentration of PAI-2 was 0, 7 and 12 μg/1, respectively. PAI-2 could not be detected in the peripheral blood.

Introduction Maintaining good life quality in urban neighbourhoods is one of the biggest challenges. The project "Healthy Neighbourhoods - Health Promotion and Prevention in Districts" ( 07/201712/2020) aims to describe and improve health and quality of life of citizens living in neighbourhoods with different socioeconomic statuses. Method To examine a possible connection between social and health situation, six districts with "very low", "low", "middle" and "high" social statuses will be compared. An instrument was developed to measure walkability, community sense, nutrition, alcohol and tobacco consumption, resilience, health-related quality of life as well as the socio-economic and the socio-demographic status. Results In April 2019, the team recorded n=621 interviews (n=102 in Lohbrügge, n=116 in Rahlstedt, n=87 in Sasel, n=135 in Stellingen, n=65 Wilhelmsburg and n=116 in Hamm). Men were somewhat overrepresented compared to women (n=268 woman, n=345 men, n=2 diverse, n=8 no indication). Respondents were aged between 18 - 96 (mean = 57.5, SD = 19.6). Discussion The results demonstrate different health situations, resources and challenges regarding the socio-economic status and the district respectively. To ensure a participative approach, the results will be presented to citizens and health experts living in these districts and form the basis to develop health promoting intervention.

The B&W Owners Group submitted justification for resetting the initial RTNDT for the Linde 80 weld materials using ASME Code Case N-629/N-631 to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and received the NRC Safety Evaluation Report with some adjustments. Two major issues were encountered during the review and approval process: 1) The pressurized thermal shock experiment data from Oak Ridge National Laboratory with full-length axial (very long) cracks fall below the Code Case curve. This observation led to the question whether there are implicit crack size limitations in the code case, and 2) For the large populations of data examined, a larger portion of data falls below the Code Case N-629/N-631 curve than the ASME KIC curve, prompting a question whether the code case is functionally equivalent to the ASME KIC curve. This paper describes these major issues and how they were addressed.

We investigated changes in sulfated proteoglycan (PG) and sulfated protein synthesis during megakaryocyte (MK) maturation in vivo by characterizing the (35S)-labeled molecules in MKs and platelets (PLTs) obtained daily from 3 hr to 5 days after injection of guinea pigs with (35S)sulfate. Radioactivity in macromolecules was maximal in MKs 3 hr and in PLTs 3 days after the injection. The cells were solubilized in 8M urea/50mM Tris/0.2% Triton X-100/0.1M NaCl, and PGs and sulfoproteins were separated by DEAE-Sephacel chromatography. PGs (65% of cell 35s) were eluted as two fractions, one (PG-1, 87%) with 4M Gdn HC1 and another (PG-2, 13%) with 4M Gdn HCl/2% TX-100. The Kav of PLT PG-1 on Sepharose CL-6B shifted gradually from 0.18 to 0.10 from 1-5 days after (35S) injection, and the smaller and larger PG-1 species were resolved on SDS-PAGE by fluorography. The size of PG-1 molecules was a function of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) chain length. The appearance of the different size PG-1 molecules in PLTs was accounted for by their disappearance from MKs over the same time period. Thus the size of the PG-1 synthesized by MKs decreased with MK maturation. The (35S)-PG-2 appeared in PLTs only 2-3 days after (35S) injection, had Kav 0.07 on CL-6B, but had GAGs of the same average size as those of PG-1. The hydrophobic character of PG-2 suggests that it might be the membrane PG. PG-1 and PG-2 were separated by SDS-PAGE and identified by fluorography. The core proteins of PG-1 and PG-2 were obtained by chondroitinase digestion and identified by SDS-PAGE and fluorography. The GAGs of PG-1 and PG-2 were almost entirely chondroitin-6-sulfate. The average size of PG-1 was 200,000 and its GAGs about 45,000.The sulfated proteins (20-25% of total cell 35S) eluted in the wash-through of the DEAE-Sephacel column and with 0.23M NaCl. Their isoelectric points were 4.0-6.5. They eluted as a small peak near the V0 and a major broad peak from Kav 0.3-0.6 on CL-6B columns, and could be identified as at least 8 distinct bands on SDS-PAGE by fluorography. Digestion with NaOH/NaBH4, Pronase or papain released small (35S)-labeled fragments, and the (35S) appeared to be associated with oligosaccharides. The sulfoproteins appeared in PLTs primarily 2-4 days after (35S) injection, and different proteins were labeled at different time points.

Abstract This paper presents the analysis and design of a compressor for application to a Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) Methyl Linoleate (MLL) bio-refrigerant cascade working cycle. This working fluid is being used in the topping cycle of an active electronics payload cooling system design to operate at elevated temperatures and pressures such as those witnessed by a Venus lander. The twin-screw, three-stage compressor operates at escalated temperatures of approximately 520 °C (960 °F). The total compressor power of 143.4 W is shared as 43.5 W, 47.7 W, and 53.3 W over stages 1, 2, and 3, respectively. The screw compressor is baselined with a D = 1 inch diameter rotor and an L/D (stroke/bore) ratio of L/D = 2 per stage. The compression ratio corresponds to a volume ratio of 6.5. The swept volume for a 4+6 rotor configuration is estimated to be 1.13 CFM at 2000 RPM with an asymmetric profile and no leakage. The volumetric efficiency of the compressor is estimated to be on the order of 80% due to the higher molecular weight of the FAME/MLL working fluid. The SCORG turbomachinery software is used to verify the thermodynamics analysis and affords a volumetric displacement of 0.025 L/rev at 2000 RPM and 80% adiabatic efficiency.

Introduction: Alzheimer’s disease, is an progressive neurodegenerative pathology. Is the most prevalent dementia condition in the world, which entails many expenditures for public health. Methods: The analysis if there was a reduction or increase in the number of hospitalizations and mortality, between the interval from 2014 to 2019, with the age groups from 59 years to more than 80 years. The database used to collect information was the DATASUS. Results: The number of interactions related to Alzheimer’s disease in Paraná, in the age group 50 and 59 years between the years 2014 (2) and 2019 (2), there was no change in the percentage of cases. The group 60 and 69 years 2014 (8) and 2019 (7), a reduction of 12.50% is found. The 70 and 79 years old, 2014 (16) to 2019 (13); reduction 18.75% of hospitalizations. The population 80 and over, 2014 (26) and 2019 (29) there is and increase of 11.54% of cases. Mortality rates, 50 and 59 years 2014, in which no mortality rate was obtained in 2019 (50), there was an increase of 50 units. 60 to 69 years from 2014 (12.5) to 2019 (14.29) there is an increase of 14.32%. 70 to 79 years old, 2014 (6.25) to 2019 (7.69) we have an increase of 23.04%. The age group of 80 years and more in 2014 (19.23) to 2019 (27.59) there was an increase of 43.47%. Conclusion: Thus, demonstrating the importance of medical and family care for the elderly, providing them with quality of life.

Naturally occurring retirement communities (NORCs) are apartment, condo, co-op and social housing buildings that while not purpose-built for older adults, have become home to a high number of them. In Toronto, there are 489 residential buildings that are NORCs. Of these, 256 are located in neighbourhoods with the highest cumulative incidence of SARS-CoV-2, and are home to 40,955 older adults 65 years of age and above, including 18,144 older adults 80 years of age and above. Prioritizing COVID-19 vaccination by both age and neighbourhood of residence is an effective strategy to minimize deaths, morbidity, and hospitalization. Targeting people living in NORCs in high-risk neighbourhoods for early vaccination is a practical application of that strategy, which will also address barriers to vaccination in this population.

Harlequin ducks (Histrionicus histrionicus) are sea ducks that migrate inland each spring to nest along fast-flowing mountain streams. They are considered one of the most imperiled duck species in North America and occur in two distinct populations on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. The Pacific coast population includes Washington State, where harlequin ducks breed in the Olympic, Cascade, and Selkirk Mountains. This species is designated as a Management Priority Species by the National Park Service within North Cascades National Park Service Complex (NOCA). This report summarizes harlequin duck surveys conducted during 15 years across a 27-year period (1990 and 2017) on major streams within NOCA, and incidental observations collected from 1968–2021. The primary objectives of these surveys were to 1) document the distribution and abundance of harlequin duck observations within NOCA boundaries, 2) describe productivity (number of broods and brood size), 3) describe breeding chronology of harlequin ducks, and 4) describe habitat characteristics of breeding streams. Sixty-eight stream surveys over 15 years resulted in observations of 623 individual harlequin ducks comprising various demographics, including single adults, pairs, and broods. In addition, we collected 184 incidental observations of harlequin ducks from visitors and staff between 1968–2021. Harlequin ducks were observed on 22 separate second- to sixth-order streams throughout NOCA across the entire 53-year span of data, both incidentally and during harlequin duck surveys by Park staff. Harlequin ducks were detected on 8 of the 13 streams that were actively surveyed. Excluding recounts, 88.7% (n = 330) of individual harlequin duck observations during surveys occurred in the Stehekin River drainage. Between all surveys and incidental observations, 135 unpaired females without broods were sighted across all NOCA waterways. Thirty-nine broods were recorded between NOCA surveys and incidental observations, with a mean brood size of 3.61 (± 1.44 SD; range = 2–10). Breeding pairs were recorded as early as April 5 and were seen on streams until June 15, a period of less than seven weeks (median: May 2), but most pairs were observed within a 3-week span, between April 26 and May 17. Single females (unpaired with a male, with (an)other female(s), or with a brood) were observed on streams between April 26 and August 25 (median: July 3), though most observations were made within a 5-week period between June 12 and July 19. Habitat data collected at adult harlequin duck observation sites indicate that the birds often used stream reaches with features that are characteristic of high-energy running water. While adults occupied all instream habitat types identified, non-braided rapids and riffles were used most frequently, followed by pools and backwaters. Larger instream substrate sizes (cobbles and boulders) were present at most observation sites. Adult harlequin ducks were more often found at locations that lacked visible drifting or lodged woody debris, but drift debris was a slightly more abundant debris type. The presence of gravel bars and at least one loafing site was common. Adult harlequin ducks were more often observed in association with vegetation that offered some cover over the channel, but not where banks were undercut. The average channel width at adult observation sites was 34.0 m (range: 6-80 m; n = 114) and 27.6 m (± 15.7 m; range: 10-60 m; n = 12) at brood observation sites. Compared to adult harlequin duck sites, broods were observed more frequently in low velocity habitat (pools, backwaters), but rarely in rapids. Cobble and boulder substrates were still the most dominant substrate type. Contrary to adult ducks, broods were observed most often observed in meandering stream channels, a morphology indicative of low gradient, low velocity stream reaches.
