Foram avaliadas as características quantitativas da carcaça de novilhos Red Angus com idade média inicial de 8 meses e 189 kg, confinados durante 114, 144, 173 e 213 dias até os respectivos pesos de abate (PA) de 340, 370, 400 ou 430 kg, com idade de 12, 13, 14 e 15 meses. A dieta alimentar continha uma relação volumoso:concentrado de 56:44, contendo 13,13% de proteína bruta e 2,7 Mcal de energia digestível/kg MS. O corte serrote, embora tenha aumentado linearmente em peso (91,73; 103,26; 106,20 e 116,66 kg) frente ao aumento do peso de abate, decresceu linearmente quando expresso em relação ao peso de carcaça fria (50,55; 50,79; 50,16; e 48,86%). A porcentagem do corte costilhar foi a que sofreu maior incremento (23,36; 25,40; 28,50; e 35%) com o aumento do peso de abate, acompanhando o aumento na deposição de gordura de cobertura (3,91; 6,16; 6,16; e 9,58 mm). A área do músculo Longissimus dorsi (ALD) aumentou linearmente frente ao aumento do peso de abate (ALD = 27,48 + 0,083PA), enquanto a ALD/100 kg de carcaça fria decresceu linearmente (ALD/100 kg carcaça = 45,14 - 0,0425PA). Foi estimado, por intermédio da equação de regressão, que a espessura de gordura mínima exigida pelos frigoríficos (3 mm) teria sido alcançada com 327 kg de peso. Considerando o peso de carcaça mínimo de 180 kg, este seria atingido com um peso de abate de 337 kg. Utilizando novilhos da raça Red Angus para produção do superprecoce, o peso de abate não deve ser superior a 400 kg, para não exceder os 6 mm de gordura de cobertura, evitando o recorte do excesso.

Foi avaliado o desempenho em confinamento de machos Red Angus confinados a partir dos oito meses de idade, quando apresentavam peso vivo médio de 189 kg, até atingirem os seguintes pesos pré-determinados (PA): 340, 370, 400 e 430 kg. O número de dias necessários para atingir os respectivos pesos foram de 114, 144, 168 e 209 dias, com 12, 13, 14 e 15 meses de idade. Os animais foram alimentados com uma dieta contendo 13,13% de proteína bruta e relação volumoso (silagem de milho):concentrado de 56:44. O ganho de peso médio diário foi de 1,32; 1,27; 1,23; e 1,15 kg respectivamente. O consumo médio diário de matéria seca (CMS), expresso em kg/dia/animal e por peso metabólico, não apresentou relação significativa com o peso de abate. Quando o CMS foi expresso por 100 kg de peso vivo, houve queda linear (CMS/100 kg PV= 3,599 - 0,003152PA) em relação ao aumento do peso de abate. O estado corporal melhorou linearmente com o aumento do peso de abate (ECF= 0,159 + 0,0103PA), enquanto a conversão alimentar piorou (CAMS= 1,585 + 0,01019PA), porém a mesma pode ser considerada muito boa, sendo, respectivamente, de 5,09; 5,35; 5,55; e 6,04 kg de MS/kg de ganho de peso. Foi estimado, por intermédio da equação de regressão, que, para atender o peso de carcaça e a gordura de cobertura mínimos exigidos, o peso de abate deveria ser de 337 e 327 kg, respectivamente.

BackgroundThe course of systemic sclerosis associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD) is highly variable. The SSc-ILD progression (SILPRO) project aims at developing a disease specific model to define SSc-ILD progression predicting long-term, severe SSc-ILD. The evaluation of currently used definitions of severity, progression and outcomes recorded in SSc-ILD represents the highly needed first step to achieve this aim.ObjectivesTo identify definitions of progression, severity and outcomes related to SSc-ILD in the literature.MethodsA systematic literature review was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines in Medline, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library up to 31/12/2021. Eligible papers included > 10 adult SSc patients, with ILD as primary target (at least one of population, exposure, outcome). Original papers in English were considered, while papers related to secondary lung involvement, ILD onset as an outcome or reviews were excluded. Two reviewers independently identified eligible studies and extracted data, including the abovementioned definitions used.ResultsWe identified 299/8444 eligible papers, mostly reporting results of retrospective cohort studies (n=126, 42%), prospective cohort studies (n=120, 40%) and randomized clinical trials (n=24, 8%).A definition of SSc-ILD severity was included in 138 (46%) papers: it was based on high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) data in 72 (52%) studies, on forced vital capacity (FVC) changes in 29 (21%), on combined FVC and carbon monoxide diffusing capacity (DLCO) changes in 14 (10%), on DLCO changes in 11 (8%). We studied the prevalence and short-term natural course of chronic frequent headache (CFH) in the general population and identified risk factors. In the Netherlands everyone is registered at a single general practice. We sent questionnaires to all persons ( n = 21 440) aged 25-55 years, registered at 16 general practices. We compared the characteristics of 177 participants with CFH (>14 headache days/month for >3 months) with 141 participants with infrequent headache (1-4 days/month) and 526 without headache (<1 day/month). The prevalence of CFH was 3.7% [95% confidence interval (CI) 3.4, 4.0]. In 5 months, 12% showed a clinically relevant decrease to <7 days/month. In both headache groups 70% were women vs. 41% in the group without headache. Compared with the group with infrequent headache, the CFH group had more subjects with low educational level [35% vs. 11%; odds ratio (OR) 4.3, 95% CI 2.3, 7.8], medication overuse (62% vs. 3%; OR 38.4, 95% CI 13.8, 106.9), sleeping problems (44% vs. 8%; OR 8.1, 95% CI 3.6, 18.1), a history of head/neck trauma (36% vs. 14%; OR 4.0, 95% CI 2.2, 7.1), high scores on the General Health Questionnaire (62% vs. 34%; OR 2.7, 95% CI 1.3, 3.6) and more smokers (45% vs. 19%; OR 3.1, 95% CI 1.9, 5.3). We conclude that headache frequency fluctuates. CFH is common and associated with overuse of analgesics, psychopathology, smoking, sleeping problems, a history of head/neck trauma and low educational level. Female sex is a risk factor for headache, not for chronification of headache.

A prominent jet-driven outflow of CO(2–1) molecular gas is found along the kinematic minor axis of the Seyfert 2 galaxy ESO 420-G13, at a distance of 340–600 pc from the nucleus. The wind morphology resembles the characteristic funnel shape, formed by a highly collimated filamentary emission at the base, and likely traces the jet propagation through a tenuous medium, until a bifurcation point at 440 pc. Here the jet hits a dense molecular core and shatters, dispersing the molecular gas into several clumps and filaments within the expansion cone. We also trace the jet in ionised gas within the inner ≲340 pc using the [Ne II]12.8 μm line emission, where the molecular gas follows a circular rotation pattern. The wind outflow carries a mass of ∼8 × 106 M⊙ at an average wind projected speed of ∼160 km s−1, which implies a mass outflow rate of ∼14 M⊙ yr−1. Based on the structure of the outflow and the budget of energy and momentum, we discard radiation pressure from the active nucleus, star formation, and supernovae as possible launching mechanisms. ESO 420-G13 is the second case after NGC 1377 where a previously unknown jet is revealed through its interaction with the interstellar medium, suggesting that unknown jets in feeble radio nuclei might be more common than expected. Two possible jet-cloud configurations are discussed to explain an outflow at this distance from the AGN. The outflowing gas will likely not escape, thus a delay in the star formation rather than quenching is expected from this interaction, while the feedback effect would be confined within the central few hundred parsecs of the galaxy.

Objetivou-se com este estudo avaliar economicamente a terminação em confinamento de novilhos Red Angus superjovens alimentados até atingirem os pesos de abate pretendidos de 340, 370, 400 e 430 kg (pesos reais obtidos: 340, 373, 401 e 434 kg). O número de dias necessários para atingir os respectivos pesos foi de 114, 144, 168 e 209 dias aos 12, 13, 14 e 15 meses de idade. Os animais foram alimentados com dieta contendo 13,26% de PB e relação volumoso (silagem de milho):concentrado de 56,21:43,79 na MS. Na formação e condução da lavoura para produção de volumoso, as operações mais representativas do custo total/ha foram, em ordem decrescente, adubação de plantio (21,21%), adubação de cobertura (12,86%), sementes (11,40%) e controle de plantas daninhas (5,78%) e de pragas (4,52%). A alimentação (volumoso mais concentrado) foi o componente de custo mais representativo (média de 77,2%) se desconsiderado o custo de compra do animal. Da alimentação, o concentrado foi o componente mais oneroso (58,3%). O custo/kg de ganho de peso incrementou linearmente com o aumento no peso de abate, sendo de 1,94; 2,06; 2,15 e 2,34 R$/kg, respectivamente, para os pesos de abate de 340, 373, 401 e 434 kg. O incremento no peso de abate de 340 para 434 kg reduziu a lucratividade da terminação em confinamento de novilhos Red Angus superjovens.

Background:NIL.ObjectivesTo analyze the impact of the serum level of HCQ on the QTc interval, in patients with rheumatic systemic autoimmune diseases (RSAD), treated with this drug a long time.MethodsRetrospective study, among patients with RSAD, treated with HCQ > 1 year, dose 200-400 mg/day (cases). Serum HCQ level was measured and the QTc interval of the ECG. Patients with EASR not treated with HCQ were included as a control group for QTc: weight, current treatment, and ECG was performed to obtain QTc.In patients with RSAD, the following was collected: 1) Epidemiological data of the patient 2) RSAD: diagnosis, year of diagnosis, time of evolution of the disease, own clinical and autoimmunity data, treatment and dose 3) HCQ: time in treatment, toxicity, symptoms and serum level. 4) ECG; QTc and heart rate (HR).Results142 patients treated with HCQ for a mean of 8.3 (SD: 6.4) years, at a mean dose of 245 mcg/L (83.8), and 3.7 (1.3) mg/kg/day, are included. 129 (91%) are women, mean age: 57 (14.5) years, weight: 66 (15) kg. Diagnosis distribution: SLE: 72 (50%) patients, RA: 37 (26%), Sjögren syndrome: 18 (13%), palindromic rheumatism: 4 (3%), psoriatic arthritis: 3 (2%), antiphospholipid syndrome: 2 (1%) and other collagen diseases: 2 (1%) patients.Mean HCQ serum level: 185.6 mcg/L (124): 25 (28%) with a level <100 mcg/L (mean: 58 [28.5] mcg/L) and 117 (72%) >100 mcg/L (mean: 224 mcg/L [116]). On ECG, the mean HR: 72 bpm (11) and the mean QTc interval: 419 (33) ms, being prolonged (>440 ms) in 39 (27%) patients (range: 441-510 ms).Ten (7%) patients reported symptoms: palpitations: 7 (70%), dizziness in 2 (20%) and 1 (10%) patient an isolated pseudosyncopal picture (QTc: 441 ms); 58 (41%) patients were receiving treatment with a drug related to the risk of QTc prolongation: Possible (P: authorized doses, no risk of TdP): 8 (14%) patient, Conditional (C: risk in certain circumstances: excessive dose, interactions): 44 (76%), Defined (D: risk of TdP when used in licensed indications): 1 (2%). When comparing the mean QTc result of the EASR group treated with HCQ and the control group without HCQ (n: 32), no differences were detected (419.4 [33] vs 436 [51], p=0.072).Among patients with HCQ level >100 mcg/L (n: 117/82%) vs <100 mcg/L (n: 25/18%), the mean daily dose of HCQ received (250 mg [87.7] vs 220 mg [57.7], p=0.33) and the one adjusted to the weight of the patient in both is higher (3.76 [1.4] mg/kg vs 3.18 [1] mg/kg, p=0.016). No relationship was observed between the HCQ level and the QTc result.The 39 (27%) patients with QTc >440 ms vs the 103 (73%) with QTc ≤ 440 ms were significantly older (61 [14] years vs 55 [14] years, p=0.007) and higher heart rate (75 [12] bpm vs 71 [10.6] bpm, p=0.016). We studied the left ventricular (LV) responses to infusions of norepinephrine and prenalterol, a specific beta 1-adrenergic receptor agonist, in conscious, chronically instrumented adult dogs with severe LV hypertrophy. The goal of this study was to determine the extent of compensation induced by LV hypertrophy in an animal model in which the pressure overload was gradually increased, as occurs in human pathological states. One to 2 yr after banding the ascending aorta of puppies, six dogs with severe LV hypertrophy (LV free-wall weight-to-body weight ratio 7.0 +/- 0.4 g/kg), and nine sham-operated littermates (LV free-wall weight-to-body weight ratio 4.0 +/- 0.2 g/kg) were studied. The dogs were instrumented with ultrasonic dimension crystals (to measure LV short-axis diameter and wall thickness), miniature LV pressure transducers, and LV and aortic catheters. In the control dogs norepinephrine (0.4 micrograms X kg-1 X min-1) increased LV systolic/diastolic pressure from 121 +/- 2/9 +/- 1 to 177 +/- 9/20 +/- 2 mmHg, mean arterial pressure from 97 +/- 2 to 143 +/- 9 mmHg, LV dP/dt from 3,363 +/- 123 to 5,174 +/- 343 mmHg/s, and mean systolic wall stress from 194 +/- 14 to 299 +/- 22 g/cm2, while mean velocity of circumferential fiber shortening (Vcf), (dD/dt/D)max, and heart rate did not change from base line. The purpose of this study was to determine the subchronic toxicity of the antihistamine tripelennamine and to allow selection of appropriate doses for chronic studies. Male and female Fischer 344 rats were administered tripelennamine hydrochloride in the feed at dose levels of 0, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, and 6000 ppm (as the free amine) for 14 days or at dose levels of 0, 150, 300, 600, 1200, and 2400 ppm for 90 days. In the 14-day study, all of the animals in the 6000 ppm groups died. All others survived until killed. Final body weights of treated groups were reduced from 3% to 25%. Cytoplasmic vacuolization of the liver was observed. In the 90-day study, a dose-dependent reduction in body weight gain was produced by tripelennamine, with a 10% reduction in final body weight occurring between 300 and 600 ppm. Reductions in various organ weights were found to be correlated with reduced final body weights. Tripelennamine produced cytoplasmic vacuolization or fatty change in the liver, cytomegaly and granular basophilic cytoplasm in the parotid salivary gland, and vacuolar degeneration of the bronchial epithelium of the lung. Based on the results of this study, it was determined that 400 ppm tripelennamine administered ad libitum in the feed to both male and female Fischer 344 rats would be an appropriate highest dose for a 2-year carcinogenicity study.

Der deutliche Anstieg der Flüchtlingszahlen in den letzten Jahren hat zu einer Veränderung der Rahmenbedingungen für Zuwanderung und des damit verbundenen Diskussionsklimas in Sachsen geführt. Diese Entwicklungen machen politische Konzepte für ein friedvolles und chancengerechtes Zusammenleben in einem Kontext zunehmender Pluralität erforderlich. In den letzten Jahren sind Landesintegrationsgesetze in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Berlin, Baden-Württemberg und zuletzt in Bayern in Kraft getreten. Integrationsgesetze können übergeordnete Ziele der Integration festschreiben und damit zur gesellschaftlichen Selbstverständigung über die Bedeutung, die Reichweite und die Voraussetzungen von Integration beitragen. Die Vorteile eines Integrationsgesetzes liegen dabei vor allem auf der symbolischen Ebene und hängen im Wesentlichen von dem Signal ab, das ein solches Gesetz an alle Bevölkerungsgruppen senden kann. Das vorliegende Gutachten hat das Ziel, den Bedarf, die Voraussetzungen und die Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten für ein Integrationsgesetz im sächsischen Kontext zu prüfen. Einbezogen werden juristische, politikwissenschaftliche und erziehungswissenschaftliche Perspektiven.

AbstractIn deep-sea chemosynthetic ecosystems, macrofaunal diversity and distribution are determined by geochemical environments generated by fluid seepage. The South China Sea is located in the northwestern Pacific Ocean with a passive continental shelf, containing over 40 seep sites. In this chapter, we provide a summary of the macrofaunal diversity and distribution at two active hydrocarbon seeps, Haima cold seep and Site F, with updated information based on samples collected from recent cruises. There are at least 81 macrofaunal species from eight phyla, 14 classes, and 34 orders, highlighting their high diversity of the South China Sea. The two active seep regions share ten species, but their communities present different structures represented by mussel beds, clam beds, and clusters of two siboglinid tubeworms. The four community types all occur at Haima cold seep. The seep community at Site F, characterized by the co-dominance of the bathymodioline mussel Gigantidas platifrons and the squat lobster Shinkaia crosnieri, resembles the vent communities in the Okinawa Trough.

AbstractBackground and purpose: Brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM) are uncommon vascular lesions with the risk of hemorrhage, epileptic seizures, neurological deficits, and headache. Comparing the risks of the natural history and that of preventive treatment, a recent study has found observation more beneficial than treatment for unruptured AVMs. This study, however, did not consider the long-term impact of carrying a brain AVM on everyday activities. In this study we analyzed the Quality Of Life (QOL) of patients with untreated AVMs, a measure increasingly used in clinical trials to asses this kind of impact.Methods: We enrolled 36 patients with unruptured, untreated brain AVM from our hospital database and measured their QOL retrospectively using the EQ-5D-5L questionnaire. As a control group we used the results of the Research Report, a nationwide study based on the quality of life of 5534 healthy Hungarians in 2002. Due to the low number of cases, statistical analysis could not be made.Results: Headache proved to be the most common AVM-related sign in our cohort (40%, n = 17), with a female predominance; neurological deficit was detected in 33% (n = 14), while epileptic seizures occurred in 26% (n = 11), more commonly affecting male subjects. Anxiety and discomfort seemed to be the most prevalent influencing factors on QOL, especially in the youngest age group (18–34 years). Female subjects showed a greater dependence than men in all age groups, though males had a more significant impairment in their usual activities. Older patients were affected more significantly in their self-care and usual activities compared with the younger population.Conclusions: Untreated AVMs have a significant negative impact on patients carrying unruptured brain AVMs, as proved by QOL assessment. Beside neurological deficits, this impact should also be considered in the therapeutic decision.

Abstract The gene PPIA encoding hCyP-A has been mapped to chromosome 7 in the region 7p11.2-p13 and there are 14 other CyP-A-related pseudogenes, on chromosomes 3, 7, 10, 14 and 18 [297, 353]. The gene PPIB coding for hCyP-B is on chromosome 15 [342]. The gene PPID encoding hCyP-40 is on chromosome 4 and consists of ten exons and nine introns. The exon organization of the genes encoding the CPLDs of hCyP-40 and hCyP-A are very different, suggesting that these two genes diverged early in evolution [355]. Zoo blots show that the PPID gene is highly conserved among different species. Fluorescence in situ hybridization to human metaphase chromosomes allowed the identification of another gene (PPIL1) encoding a cyclophilin of 166 amino acid residues. The gene was mapped to chromosome 2 in the region p23.3-p23.1. The protein seems to be expressed in many tissues [341].

El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la relación entre el consumo de alcohol y resiliencia en adolescentes de una institución educativa en Perú. La metodología fue de enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental, de corte transversal, correlacional. Los resultados fueron que el 40 % tienen la edad de 12 a 14 años, el 50 % son sexo femenino, el 16% son de quinto grado, el 39% si consumen alcohol por primera vez, el 63% tienen la edad de inicio de consumo de alcohol12 a 14 años, el 55% tienen introspección medio, el 62% independencia bajo, el 51% interacción medio, el 45% iniciativa medio, el 40% humor medio, el 37% creatividad medio, el 63% moralidad alto, el 64% tienen consumo de alcohol de bajo riesgo y la resiliencia es medio. Finalmente, a través de la prueba estadística Chi cuadrada se comprobó que no existe relación entre el consumo de alcohol y la resiliencia en adolescentes, sin embargo, según la prueba de Elorza existe relación entre el sexo, el grado, el inicio de consumo de alcohol por primera vez y la resiliencia, asimismo, el consumo de alcohol y la resiliencia (independencia, humor y creatividad).

A total of 65 Przeworsk culture features were discovered in the Żelazna Nowa cemetery. This number included a rectangular groove feature, urned cremations (6), alleged/damaged urned cremations (14), unurned cremations (14), alleged/fully or partly damaged unurned cremations (27), pits containing no bone material (4), undtermined cremations (2), pits containing no archeological material (1). All of the explored burials are cremations. However, a more detailed analysis encounters problems due to the state of preservation of the graves. Features 3, 19A and 19B, 30, 33, 37, 39 have been confidently identified as urned cremations. In many other features fragments of ceramic vessels were found, which may be remains of damaged urns: 18, 21, 23, 25, 31, 35, 44, 46, 47, 48, 49, 56, 57, and 58. Certain unurned cremations are 4, 6, 7, 8, 11–13, 15–17, 22, 24, 32, and 34. The interpretation of the remaining features is uncertain. Among the features uncovered in the cemetery were pits containing no bones: 5, 60, 61, 62, as well as pits containing no archaeological material at all: 55. The majority of unurned cremations contained pyre debris, while no such remains were observed in the following damaged unurned cremations: 15, 40–42, 45, 61, 62. There were a few cases of double burials identified. Three unurned cremations (6, 13, 15) and one urned cremation (39) contained bones of Infans I and an undetermined individual, while feature 19 contained two urns with individual burials: Infans II and an undetermined individual. Urned cremations, and one alleged unurned cremation (56), are distinguished by a higher standard of furnishing and a considerably larger amount of bone remains. This can be given two interpretations: a higher status of those buried there, or different rituals used for urned and unurned cremations. In two graves the urn was covered with an upturned vessel (features 33 and 37). In one case, an apotropaic behaviour characteristic of the Przeworsk culture was recorded, involving driving sharp objects into the pit’s bottom: in grave 41 these were two spearheads.

Abstract Primates originated in a “hot-house” world of widespread rainforests. Plesiadapiform primates thrived during the Paleocene but died out when arboreal rodents won their niches. Euprimates radiated during the Eocene, which ended in a period of global cooling ~40–34 Ma. The resulting deforestation reduced primate habitats and increased competition for arboreal resources. The abrupt global cooling that initiated the Oligocene, ~34 Ma, exacerbated deforestation at temperate latitudes and caused food production to become seasonal and volatile. Afterward, anthropoids became larger animals that foraged diurnally over an extensive home range, initially as slow arboreal quadrupeds. Hominoids appeared ~26–23 Ma and diversified ~17–15 Ma during a warm period. Global cooling resumed ~14–9 Ma, which caused more deforestation and the extinction of many ape species. As hominoid diversity waned, cercopithecoids and platyrrhines radiated. During the Plio-Pleistocene, both cercopithecoids and hominins exploited the open habitats that replaced forests.

Anaokulu, İlkokul, Ortaokul ve Lisede Okuyan Suriyeli Öğrenci Sayısı Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından 8 Haziran 2021 tarihinde yapılan açıklamaya göre 938 bin138 olarak (anaokulunda 35 bin 707, ilkokulda 442 bin 817, ortaokulda 348 bin 638 ve lisede 110 bin 976) belirtilmektedir. Eğitim çağında olup okula gitmeyen çocuk sayısı 432 bin 956’dur. In Finland, the nationally unified and standardized nursing documentation model comprises the nursing process model and the Finnish Care Classification (FinCC). The aim of the study was to assess how well the further developed FinCC complies with actual nursing practices and how pragmatic and understandable it is. An e-questionnaire based on the revised version of the FinCC was sent to healthcare organizations (n=34) and Universities of Applied Sciences (n=14). Data was gathered and organized in Excel. Narrative comments were read and analyzed. The mean of questions of 17 components of both the FICND and the FICNI was over four (scale 1–5). The biggest revision of the FinCC is that different scales and evidence-based research have been utilized in the development of the terminology. Based on the findings, revisions have been made, and the new version, FinCC 4.0, will be published at the end of 2019.

Анотація:
Objective: Nearly 1/5 of women with breast cancer (BC) treated by breast-conserving surgery (BCS) require reoperation due to positive margins on final pathology. In our hospital practice, intraoperative macroscopic pathological margin evaluation (IMPME) of all lumpectomy specimens is routine. The objectives of the study were to assess the accuracy of the IMPME in a large study population of BC patients treated by BCS. Methods: Patients treated by BCS from 2015 to 2017 for invasive BC were included in a retrospective analysis. The diagnostic accuracy of IMPME in predicting margin involvement was calculated by determining its sensitivity (Se), specificity (Sp), negative predictive value (NPV), and false-negative rate (FNR). Results: In all, 543 women with 562 BCS were analyzed. There were 30 (5.5%) patients with multiple BC tumors and 17 (3.1%) patients with bilateral BC. Among them, 460 (81.7%) were invasive ductal carcinomas and 79 (14%) invasive lobular carcinomas. According to intrinsic subtype classification, 504 (89.7%) were luminal tumors, 44 (7.8%) were triple-negative tumors, and 14 (2.7%) were HER2-enriched breast tumors. The mean pathological tumor size was 12.2 mm (range: 1.5–40 mm). With a cutoff value of ≤1 mm for positive margin status with IMPME, the Se, Sp, NPV, and FNR were 65.9% (29/44), 66% (342/518), 95.8% (342/357), and 4% (15/357), respectively. There were 34.2% (192/562) BCS with intraoperative re-excision after IMPME examination. The secondary re-excision rate for final positive margins after BCS was 6.6% (37/562). Conclusion: In this study population, IMPME is not sensitive and specific enough to discriminate between negative and positive margins during BCS. Nevertheless, its NPV seems sufficiently accurate to exclude the presence of residual breast tumor tissue on the surgical specimen of patients treated with BCS, which represents an effective technique for evaluating the intraoperative margin in BC patients.

Diamond-like-carbon films (DLC) are hard coatings with a very low friction coefficient, a high wear resistance and chemically inert. However, these coatings have adhesion problems on metallic substrates, because the high residual stresses in the DLC films cause failure of the interface between the film and the substrate. Different methods have been tested to improve the adhesion: deposition of interlayers, multilayer coatings between the substrate and the DLC film have been used as interface, chemical and physical modifications of the carbon coating or diffusion treatments of substrate surface.Plasma nitriding is a well-established method to harden stainless steels and can act as a pretreatment to increase adhesion and improve tribological behaviour of the DLC coating. Hopwever, the characteristics and phases of the nitrided layer can influence on the adhesion and the mechanical behaviour of the system. In this work, the mechanical behaviour of a DLC film deposited over non-nitrided and nitride martensitic stainless steel with two different surface finishing is studied.

The current study was dedicated to exploring luminescence of AlN ceramics with europium admixture (AlN:Eu). Photoluminescence as well as its excitation spectra, taken at wide spectral intervals, at different temperatures and environments (vacuum and air), were used to study the optical properties of the material.AlN:Eu ceramics were dominated by the well-known red and green luminescence of Eu ions, around 530 nm and 600 nm, which could be excited by both visible and UV light. In ceramics with a higher Eu content, more intense luminosity of the bands associated with europium, especially around 530 nm, was observed, while, contrary to lower concentration sample, no luminescence bands between 440 nm and 500 nm were observed. The differences, most likely, can be explained by the different structure of the material at different concentrations of admixture. At excitation of samples with 340 nm light, mutually different changes in 530 nm luminescence intensity were also observed when temperatures of materials were lowered: at higher Eu concentrations, the intensity increased, whereas at lower concentrations – decreased. The analysis of the experimental results allows to propose several mechanisms that are responsible for the luminescence of the considered materials, consisting mainly of the emission of defects related to Eu ions. They include both intracenter and recombination mechanisms, whose contribution to luminescence depends on the spectral structure of the excitation light. The obtained data can be used for further research and development of new persistent luminescence materials.

The F404-GE-400 engines of the CF-18 aircraft are the first engines of the Canadian Forces to be maintained under a formal on-condition maintenance program. In support of this program, the Canadian Forces are developing advanced troubleshooting and performance monitoring procedures based on information recorded by the aircraft In-flight Engine Condition Monitoring System (IECMS). A suite of computer programs has been developed which enables maintenance personnel to access, display and analyze in-flight event data recorded by the IECMS and to track the performance of individual engines based on “health indices” derived from the IECMS takeoff ground roll recordings. The new techniques have been under evaluation at each of the CF-18 main operating bases for a period of approximately 14 months. Results to-date indicate that the IECMS recordings provide a considerable amount of information of benefit to engine technicians and maintenance planners.

Introdução: A Organização Mundial da Saúde1 estima cerca de 127 milhões de novos casos anuais de Chlamydia trachomatis e 87 milhões de Neisseria gonohrroeae, no mundo, para população sexualmente ativa, que podem ocorrer assintomáticamente, aumentando o risco de adquirir/transmitir o vírus da imunodeficiência humana. Estudo americano2 mostra que, entre assintomáticos, houve 4,5% de positividade em mulheres e 5,3%, de homens. A Rede Municipal Especializada em infecções sexualmente transmissíveis/aids realiza 60 mil diagnósticos anuais de vírus da imunodeficiência humana, sendo 70% homens e, desses, 50% homens que fazem sexo com Homens ou transexuais. Objetivo: Estudar a prevalência de Chlamydia trachomatis/Neisseria gonohrroeae na população atendida Centro de Testagem e Aconselhamento e serviço de assistência especializada no município de São Paulo. Métodos: Estudo de corte transversal, com amostra não probabilística da população de homens que fazem sexo com homens e mulheres transgênero maiores de 18 anos em uso de profilaxia pré-exposição ao vírus da imunodeficiência humana entre fevereiro/2020 e fevereiro/2021. Os voluntários responderam questionário sobre práticas sexuais, uso de drogas, antecedentes de infecções sexualmente transmissíveis e colheram amostras de urina, swab anal e orofaringe (Kit Abbott RealTime Chlamydia trachomatis/Neisseria gonohrroeae). Resultados: Verificou-se a prevalência, segundo relato de infecções sexualmente transmissíveis prévia: Com infecções sexualmente transmissíveis: Clamídia-urina: 5,6% (3/54), orofaringe: 5,8% (3/52), anal: 16,0% (8/50), Gonorreia-urina: 1,9% (1/54), orofaringe: 5,8% (3/52), anal: 16,0% (8/50). Sem infecções sexualmente transmissíveis: Clamídia-urina: 3,7% (15/410), orofaringe: 3,6% (14/390), anal: 12,2% (46/378), Gonorreia-urina: 0,5% (2/410), orofaringe: 11,0% (43/390), anal: 7,7% (29/377). Situação de infecções sexualmente transmissíveis ignorada: Clamídia-urina: 6,5% (3/46), orofaringe: 4,8% (2/42), anal: 12,2% (5/41), Gonorreia-urina: 4,3% (2/46), orofaringe: 14,3% (6/42), anal: 9,8% (4/41). A maioria dos voluntários relatou não ter tido infecções sexualmente transmissíveis ou desconhecer essa situação. As maiores prevalências foram de Chlamydia trachomatis na região anal, seguida pela Neisseria gonohrroeae na região da orofaringe, ambas de forma assintomática, favorecendo sua disseminação. Conclusão: Embora a prevalência entre os que relataram infecções sexualmente transmissíveis prévia tenha sido relativamente maior, a alta prevalência entre os assintomáticos reforça a importância do diagnóstico precoce, principalmente após situações de exposição em populações de maior vulnerabilidade, o que motivou a ampliação do estudo em 2021 para toda a Rede Municipal Especializada, a benefício da saúde pública.

Abstract The Earth-Moon system is constantly bombarded by meteoroids of different sizes. They are fragments of asteroids, comets, and major celestial bodies which provide information about the formation and evolution of the Solar System. Meteor showers have been studied for at least 50 years to construct Solar System meteoroid models which can be exploited to understand the spatial distribution of objects near the Earth-Moon system, to predict the degradation of spaceborne equipment, and to forecast large impact on Earth [1]. These models have been constructed by performing Earth-based observations of meteor showers and lunar flashes due to meteoroid impacts. As Earth-based observations are limited by geometrical, illumination, and meteorological constraints, a Moon-orbiting observatory could increase the quality and quantities of meteoroid impact detection to improve current meteoroid models. To answer these questions, the Lunar Meteoroid Impacts Observer (LUMIO) mission has been designed and is currently in development under ESA funding [2]. LUMIO is a CubeSat mission to a halo orbit at Earth-Moon L2 that shall observe, quantify, and characterize meteoroid impacts on the Lunar farside by detecting their flashes, complementing Earth-based observations on the Lunar nearside, to provide global information on the Lunar Meteoroid Environment and contribute to Lunar Situational Awareness [3, 4]. The LUMIO mission foresees two modes during its operative phase [5]: the Science Cycle and the Navigation & Engineering Cycle. The former lasts approximately 14 days and occurs when the Moon far side has the optimal illumination to perform flash detection (i.e., half of the Moon is not illuminated). The latter is defined as the complementary of the Science Cycle. During the Navigation & Engineering Cycle, the CubeSats cannot carry out scientific observations and performs reaction wheel desaturation, communication with the Earth, station-keeping, and technological demonstration. The technological demonstration performed by LUMIO is the Optical Navigation Experiment (ONX) [6]. The ONX aims at proving the feasibility of CubeSats to autonomously navigate in the cislunar environment without communication with the ground by exploiting images of the Moon. Indeed, the spacecraft-Moon range is computed by determining the apparent size of the Moon in the image [7, 8]. This piece of information is then provided to the navigation filter to determine the spacecraft state [6]. The computation of the spacecraft-Moon range is determined by the image processing (IP) algorithm which determines the Moon limb location in the image at subpixel precision [9] and estimates the spacecraft-Moon range with a non-iterative method [10]. To make the algorithm robust to possible outliers in the limb location points, the RANSAC algorithm is used [11]. This IP pipeline provides position measurements to the navigation filter by exploiting attitude information from the ADCS subsystem. The navigation filter is an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) in ECI J2000 taking into account the Moon and Earth gravitational attraction and the Sun third-body perturbation. This work presents the current status of the ONX by focusing on the image processing (IP) algorithm, the navigation filter, and the expected results during the experiment. An der ersten Befragung im Rahmen des BintHo-Projekts im Wintersemester 2020/21 nahmen insgesamt über 117.000 Studierende teil, darunter auch rund 14.000 internationale Studierende. Die Befragten stammten von insgesamt 74 teilnehmenden Universitäten (33), Hochschulen für angewandte Wissenschaften (34), Pädagogischen Hochschulen (4) sowie Kunst- und Musikhochschulen (3) in 14 Bundesländern mit Studierendenzahlen zwischen knapp 400 und über 50.000 Studierenden. Die erste BintHo-Befragungsrunde verfügt damit über eine beeindruckende Datengrundlage. Aufgrund der hohen Anzahl und des breit gefächerten Spektrums teilnehmender Hochschulen und befragter Studierender liefern diese Befunde eine aussagekräftige Beschreibung des Stands der internationalen Studierendenmobilität in Deutschland zu Beginn der 2020er Jahre. In Zukunft sollen die BintHo-Befragungen alle drei Jahre wiederholt werden. Die erste BintHo-Befragung liefert spannende und größtenteils erfreuliche Befunde: So zeigt sich beispielsweise, dass für mehr als drei Viertel der befragten internationalen Studierenden Deutschland die erste Wahl als Gastland war. Die wichtigsten Gründe für das Studium in der Bundesrepublik waren dabei ein attraktives Studienangebot und gute Studienbedingungen an den Hochschulen, das internationale Renommee des deutschen Studienabschlusses sowie gute berufliche Perspektiven nach dem Studium. Zugleich wünschten sich rund 40 Prozent der einheimischen Studierenden mehr internationale Kommilitonen und Kommilitoninnen, nur ein Prozent hätte gerne weniger internationale Studierende an der eigenen Hochschule. Betrachtet man die Befunde zur Auslandsmobilität der einheimischen Studierenden, so zeigt sich: Die wichtigsten Motive für einen Auslandsaufenthalt sind die Persönlichkeitsentwicklung, kulturelles Interesse und der Wunsch, neue Erfahrungen im Gastland außerhalb der Universität zu machen. Die BintHo-Studie belegt auch einen Zusammenhang zwischen dem Verhalten von Lehrenden und der Auslandsmobilität ihrer Studierenden: Unter den Studierenden die angaben, dass sie nie von Lehrenden zu einem Auslandsaufenthalt ermutigt wurden, fällt der Anteil der auslandsmobilen Studierenden am niedrigsten aus. Besonders hoch fällt dieser Anteil hingegen in der Gruppe der Befragten aus, die erklärten, alle Lehrenden ermutigten sie zu einem Auslandsaufenthalt.

Systemwide interstate performance measures that detail hours and location of congestion on an interstate provide important information for decision makers to plan capital projects and assess operations. This report presents summary of mile-hours of congestion across 8 Indiana interstates and the Indiana toll road. Hours of operation by speed bins (0 to 14 mph, 15 mph to 24 mph, 25 mph to 34 mph, 35 mph to 44 mph, 45 mph to 54 mph, 55 mph to 64 mph, more than 65 mph) for every 0.1 mile of the interstates across a month were tabulated for every hour of every day during the month. The quantities of those six different speed bins are plotted as a stacked bar plot from lower to higher speeds by mile marker for each month. The vertical axis shows the mile marker of the interstate. Horizontally, these stacked bars are cropped at maximum of 250 hours (a little more than 10 days) per month to focus on the lower speeds. To produce these plots, approximately 60 billion records from INRIX across 5 years were analyzed. These speed profiles help identify areas with congestion at system level as well as regions impacted by severe winter storms and construction projects.

The National Park Service (NPS) began monitoring landbirds at Channel Islands National Park in 1993 as part of its long-term inventory and monitoring program. The park?s landbird monitoring later became part of the NPS Inventory and Monitoring Division?s Mediterranean Coast Network long-term monitoring programs. Consequently, landbird monitoring has been conducted in the park during every breeding season since 1993. In this report, we summarize data collected during the 2020 breeding season. Landbird monitoring was conducted between 1 April and 30 June 2020. Using distance-based sampling methods in a standardized protocol, birds were counted on 7 of 10 permanent line transects (70%) (2 of 3 on Santa Barbara Island, 1 of 1 on East Anacapa Island, and 4 of 5 on San Miguel Island). Two transects were not sampled in 2020 because of nesting California Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) on Santa Barbara Island (i.e., Canyons Transect) and reduced person hours and unfavorable winds on San Miguel Island (i.e., San Miguel Hill Transect). For point counts, 225 of 338 (67%) permanent stations were counted (i.e., 30 of 33 points on Santa Barbara Island, 8 of 8 on East Anacapa Island, 100 of 112 on Santa Cruz Island, 40 of 40 on San Miguel Island, and 47 of 145 on Santa Rosa Island). The 8 Prisoners? Cove points were not counted in 2020. Three points were not counted on Santa Barbara Island due to nesting pelicans: these points and the transect were also not counted in 2016?2019 to avoid disturbing breeding pelicans. Other points (i.e., on east Santa Cruz Island and Santa Rosa Island) were not counted due in large part to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Traveling to and from the park was only granted to essential NPS staff for the majority of the landbird season. Fifty-one bird species were counted from points and transects across all of the islands in 2020; 39 of these are breeding species on the island. Parkwide, the 10 most commonly detected breeding landbirds in 2020 were, in descending order: Horned Lark, Spotted Towhee, Song Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Western Meadowlark, Orange-crowned Warbler, Bewick?s Wren, Island Scrub-Jay, House Finch, and Common Raven. On East Anacapa Island, 26 landbird species have been counted since 1993; 5 species were counted in 2020. No new transient species were detected in 2020; 10 transient or visiting species (nonbreeding, native species recorded only once or twice during surveys) have been counted on the island overall since 1993. On Santa Barbara Island, 49 landbird species have been counted since 1993; 15 species were counted in 2020. The highest number of Horned Lark since 1993 were counted in 2020 (n = 451). Warbling Vireo was a new transient species counted in 2020 on Santa Barbara; 30 transient or visiting species have been counted on the island since 1993. On Santa Cruz Island, 74 landbird species have been counted since 2013; 34 species were counted in 2020. Bullock?s Oriole was a new transient species counted in 2020 on Santa Cruz; 21 transient or visiting species have been counted on this island since 2013. On San Miguel Island, 69 landbird species have been counted since 1993; 14 were counted in 2020. No transient species were counted in 2020; 34 transient or visiting species have been counted on the island since 1993. On Santa Rosa Island, 75 landbird species have been counted since 1994; 26 were detected in 2020. Rose-breasted Grosbeak was a new transient species counted in 2020 on Santa Rosa Island; 30 transient or visiting species have been counted on the island since 1994. Across all the 5 islands, 3 transient or visiting bird species were newly counted in 2020, for a total of 77 such species counted since NPS monitoring began on the islands. Nonnative and invasive birds were counted on only 1 of the 5 islands in 2020: 4 European Starlings on Santa Rosa Island. However, anecdotal sightings of nonnative species occurred much more frequently (i.e., outside of the point and transect counts), and were made on all islands except Anacapa in 2020. The highest numbers of nonnative species detections occurred on Santa Cruz Island, with 33 detections of Eurasian Collared Dove (primarily at the Main Ranch area in the Central Valley), 15 detections of Brown-headed Cowbird (primarily at Scorpion Harbor), and 15 detections of European Starling (primarily at the Main Ranch and Scorpion Harbor). House Sparrows were observed fewer times, but on all islands except Anacapa; cowbirds occurred on all islands except Anacapa and San Miguel; and Rock Pigeon occurred on Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz Islands. In 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 67% of all points and 77% of all transects were counted among the 5 islands. Santa Rosa received the lightest sampling of points (32%), due to the difficulty of getting observers onto the island. Even with diminished sampling, species richness (number of species) values fell in predictable patterns: richness was greatest on the larger islands (75 on Santa Rosa, 73 on Santa Cruz) and least on the smallest islands (26 on Anacapa, 48 on Santa Barbara). We continue to recommend that nonnative invasive species, such as European Starlings on Santa Rosa Island, be removed before their numbers become harder to manage. Also, because Distance analyses assist statistically with evaluations of trends, we continue to recommend that a trend analysis using program DISTANCE, or newer hierarchical distance analyses, should be used after the 2020 season to assess 5-year trends in breeding species? numbers following the 2015 trend analysis conducted by Coonan and Dye (2016).

Five-needle white pines (Family Pinaceae, Genus Pinus, Subgenus Strobus), and in particular whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis), limber pine (P. flexilis), and foxtail pine (P. balfouriana) are foundation species in upper subalpine and treeline forests of several National Park Service Pacific West Region parks, including Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (SEKI) and Yosemite National Park (YOSE). The Sierra Nevada Network Inventory & Monitoring Program, in collaboration with the Klamath Network, Upper Columbia Basin Network, and Mojave Desert Network have implemented a joint long-term monitoring protocol to assess the current status and future trends in high elevation white pine communities. Key demographic parameters within white pine forest communities will be estimated by monitoring individual trees within permanent plots through time. This report documents the results of the 2021 field season, which was the eighth year of monitoring in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (SEKI) and Yosemite National Park (YOSE). The 2021 goal was to complete the third full re-measure of the second of three rotating panels (Panel 2) for each species-park population: YOSE-whitebark pine, SEKI-whitebark pine, and SEKI-foxtail pine. Each panel consists of 12 permanent 50 x 50 m (2,500 m2) plots that were randomly selected for each of the three populations. The full sampling array thus includes a total of 36 whitebark pine plots in YOSE, 36 whitebark pine plots in SEKI, and 36 foxtail pine plots in SEKI. Data from plot surveys will be used to characterize white pine forest community dynamics in SEKI and YOSE, including changes in tree species composition, forest structure, forest health, and demographics. The first full measure of all Panel 2 plots was completed over two years in 2013-2014, then a full remeasure of both parks? whitebark pine Panel 2 was conducted in 2016, with 10 of 12 SEKI-foxtail plots sampled that year. A third remeasure of all Panel 2 plots was not possible in 2021 because a smaller crew size was necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic. In total, the crew visited 37 sites, and sampled 31, during the 2021 field season. One plot in the YOSE whitebark pine frame was uninstalled before reading and one plot in the SEKI whitebark pine frame was uninstalled after reading, both for safety concerns. Four plots were not visited due to lack of capacity with the reduced crew size: one in each of the YOSE and SEKI whitebark frames, and three in the SEKI foxtail frame. A plot from Panel 3 in each of the parks? whitebark frames was measured, for a total of 11 plots measured in each whitebark pine frame. Nine plots were measured in the SEKI foxtail pine frame. Within the 31 plots completed, a total of 5,728 trees was measured. Species composition, forest structure, and factors affecting tree health and reproduction, including incidence and severity of white pine blister rust (Cronartium ribicola) infection, mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae) infestation, dwarf mistletoe (Arceuthobium spp.) infection, canopy kill, female cone production and regeneration were recorded. During the 2021 field season, crews continued to count the total number of mature cones per tree for whitebark and foxtail pine, use crown condition codes to assess crown health, and tag individual seedlings to be tracked through time. All three of these procedures started in 2017 and are to be evaluated by each of the three participating networks over several years, to determine whether they should become permanent changes to the monitoring protocol. In YOSE, 11 whitebark pine plots were re-measured, from Panels 2 and 3. A total of 2,810 trees were sampled, which included 586 live whitebark pine trees and 2,097 other live conifers. An additional 127 trees (including 17 whitebark pine) were recorded as dead. The forest crew noted little sign of white pine blister rust (WPBR) in Yosemite in 2021, and just a single inactive canker was observed on one whitebark pine in Panel 3, Plot 42, near Dana Meadows. This infection was new to plot 42, and it expands the total number of plots where white pine blister rust has been documented in Yosemite to six. The crew also noted little mountain pine beetle activity, documenting beetle galleries on 15 lodgepole pines in three Panel 2 plots. Dwarf mistletoe was not observed. The average number of live whitebark pine trees per plot was 53 (SD = 56). This was a low cone crop year for whitebark pine, with two percent of live whitebark pine trees producing female cones. Cone bearing trees averaged 2 (SD = 1) cones per tree. Whitebark pine seedling density averaged 90 (SD = 157) seedlings per hectare. The largest number of whitebark pine seedlings found in a plot was four, and three of the eleven plots contained whitebark seedlings. In SEKI, 10 of 12 Panel 2, and one Panel 3, whitebark pine plots were re-measured. Within these plots, 1,246 live whitebark pine, 30 live foxtail pine, and 861 other live conifers were sampled. WPBR was infrequently documented in the SEKI whitebark frame as well, with indicators of infection in Plot 31 near Window Creek and Plot 44 near Upper State Lake. These were the first infections documented in these plots, bringing the number of plots where WPBR has been documented in the SEKI whitebark panel to nine. Although WPBR was documented in Plot 27 near Charlotte Dome in 2016, it was not documented this year because putative cankers showing three signs of infection in 2016 showed only two or fewer signs in 2021. Mountain pine beetle activity was observed in one live lodgepole pine and two recently dead whitebark pine, within three plots in the SEKI whitebark sample frame. An exception to the low levels of mountain pine beetle activity was outside Plot 31 in the Window Creek area, where the forest crew noted many recently dead whitebark pine with signs of beetle activity. Dwarf mistletoe was not encountered. The average number of live whitebark pine trees per plot was 113 (SD = 86). Less than one percent of live whitebark pine trees produced female cones, each producing on average 2 (SD = 1) cones. Whitebark seedling regeneration averaged 303 (SD = 319) seedlings per hectare. The largest number of whitebark seedlings found in a plot was eight, and eight of the 11 plots contained whitebark seedlings. Nine of the 12 SEKI foxtail Panel 3 plots were remeasured. Within these plots, 413 live foxtail pine, 67 live whitebark pine, and 402 other live conifers were sampled. Ninety-two dead or recently dead trees were also documented, 65 of which were foxtail pine. No signs of blister rust infection, mistletoe, or mountain pine beetle were observed in the foxtail plots sampled. The average number of foxtail pine trees per plot was 46 (SD = 33). Fifty-four percent of the foxtail pine trees produced female cones, averaging 14 (SD =15) cones/tree. Only one foxtail pine seedling was recorded within the 9 foxtail pine plots, resulting in an estimated 14 (SD = 41) seedlings per hectare. Eight whitebark pine seedlings were also found within two plots.
