Анотація:

Changes in the spawning part of the Bolshaya River population of coho salmon are considered for 1941–2023. Long-term trends are revealed for the most important biological parameters of adults, in particular, decreasing in size, weight (except of late-race females), and fecundity of returning fish. The parameters for different races and sexes in different periods of time are compared statistically, with frequency analysis. Influence of duration of freshwater and marine feeding on size, weight and fecundity of coho salmon is estimated. The portion of this species in salmon catches in the Bolshaya River basin was 19 %, on average, in 1941–2023, the second after pink salmon. In 2007–2023, the catch and reproduction rate of coho salmon exceeded the average values for 1972–2002 by an order, though their registered escapement to the river decreased in 3 times. Obviously, the spawning runs were underestimated. Increasing the funding of aerial surveys on coho salmon is proposed, to make them longer and more extended and detailed. Besides, the passing of salmon to the spawning grounds can be modeled on the data of reproduction multiplicity.

Resumo: O presente artigo apresenta uma epítome da dissertação “Os pressupostos filosóficos e os imperativos fundamentais da teoria crítica incipiente de Herbert Marcuse: em torno dos ensaios da ZfS (1937-1941). (SALDANHA, 2020)”. Essa pesquisa buscou identificar os traços distintivos da teoria crítica que Marcuse esboça nos ensaios publicados na Zeitschrift für Sozialforschung entre 1937-1941, tendo acedido a duas conclusões gerais: 1) que essa teoria se baseia em dois pressupostos filosóficos maiores, a saber, a dialética hegeliana e a crítica de economia política de Marx; 2) que os referidos ensaios sugerem quatro tópicos cuja crítica seria impreterível para uma teoria genuinamente crítica da sociedade capitalista. Buscarei reconstituir a análise textual que levou às conclusões acima, descrevendo o contexto histórico-filosófico dos ensaios, suas premissas filosóficas mais importantes e os seus quatro tópicos fundamentais de análise. Tais tópicos constituem uma espécie de espinha dorsal da teoria crítica marcuseana da época e nos fornecem uma adequada chave de leitura para os seus ensaios. A key to understand Marcuse’s essays (1937-1941) Abstract: This paper provides a synthesis of the research entitled Autor. This research sought to identify the distinctive features of critical theory that Marcuse outlines in his 1937-1941 essays, reaching two major conclusions: 1) Marcusean theory is based on two philosophical assumptions, namely, Hegelian dialectics and Marx's critique of political economy; 2) Marcuse’s essays suggest four topics whose critique is imperative for a genuinely critical theory of capitalist society. I will try to reconstruct the textual analysis that led to the aforementioned conclusions, by analyzing the essays’ historical-philosophical context, their chief philosophical premises, and their four fundamental topics. I argue these topics constitute a kind of backbone of Marcuse's critical theory, and they provide us with an adequate key to comprehend his 1937-1941 essays. Una clave para entender los ensayos de Marcuse (1937-1941) Resumen: Este artículo presenta una síntesis de la investigación Autor. Abstract V2487 Ophiuchi (V2487 Oph) is a recurrent nova with classical nova eruptions in 1900 and 1998, and it is also the most extreme known superflare star. These superflares are roughly hour-long flares with amplitudes and optical energies reaching up to 1.10 mag and 1039.21 erg, respectively, with the superflares recurring once a day. The V2487 Oph superflares are certainly operating with the same mechanism as all the other types of superflare stars, where magnetic loops are twisted and stretched until reconnection occurs, whereupon ambient electrons are accelerated to relativistic energies and then emit bremsstrahlung radiation from X-ray to radio. V2487 Oph is unique among known superflare stars in that one of the loop footprints is in an accretion disk. This exact mechanism was theoretically predicted by M. R. Hayashi and colleagues in 1996. Now, I have found two superflares recorded on Harvard archival photographs from 1941 and 1942. These two superflares have B-magnitude amplitudes of >1.83 and >2.00 mag and total radiated energies of 1042.4 and 1042.5 erg, respectively, with bolometric corrections. Each has emitted energies of ∼30 billion Carringtons, in units of the most energetic solar flare. Further, I find superflares in Zwicky Transient Factory light curves, so V2487 Oph has been superflaring from 1941 to 2023. For the observed number distribution of dN/dE = 4E −2 superflares per year, for E in units of 1041 erg, the emitted energy in superflare light is 1042.1 erg in each year, or 1044.1 erg from 1941 to 2023.

This article, which is a continuation of the previous publication (3 issues of the Bulletin of Karaganda Uni-versityfor 2023), analyzed the last three stages of the regulatory framework of repressive policies towards minors for the period from 1941 to 1958.By grouping the available normative base, the authors identified five stages from 1918 to 1958, with the main criterion being legislative documents aimed at tightening or sof-tening repressive policies towards the underage population of the country. This article examines the norma tive documents of the third, fourth, and fifth stages from July 7, 1941, to December 25, 1958.The main sources used in the analysis were the constitution, laws, orders, instructions, resolutions, and various directive documents that allowed the authors to trace the scope and stages of repressive policies towards minors. In conclusion, the authors concluded that the third stage (from July 7, 1941, to January 18, 1945) was the peak, characterized by the tightening of legislation, a sharp increase in the number of minors in the penitentiary sys-tem, and the scale and ruthlessness of child labor in all areas of life. The fourth stage (from January 18, 1945, to March 24, 1956) was transitional and characterized by a relaxation of repressive policies towards children. During this stage, not only we observe a reduction in normative sources, but also the emergence of documents aimed at improving the well-being of children. The fifth stage (from March 24, 1956, to December 25, 1958) marked the conclusion, as it was during this period that repressions against minors ceased.

The article provides materials on the activities of evacuation hospitals formed in the initial period of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 on the territory of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. The authors pay special attention to the analysis of the experience of the military evacuation deep rear hospital No. 3127 in Ufa. The main sources of the research were documentary materials stored in the archives and museums of the Republic of Bashkortostan, in particular in the funds of the National Archives of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan, collections of published documents, periodicals, and memoirs. The study showed that, in general, during the war years, evacuation hospitals in Bashkiria coped with the tasks assigned to them. Анотація:

The paper presents the results of analysis about relationship between climate changes and coastal upwellings in Listvennichny Bay (Southern Baikal) from 1941 to 2023. A decrease in both full and partial upwellings has been shown since the late 1950s. In addition, an increase in the proportion of upwelling events in August compared to other months during 1970-2023 were found. It also showed tendencies for longer upwelling durations and greater temperature drops during upwelling after 1970 compared to the previous period. Inferred from the analysis of the ERA5-Land data, it was determined that the cause of the observed changes was a global course of decreasing wind activity and a particular redistribution of the proportion of northerly and southwesterly winds in the Bay during the study period. Two cases of full and intermittent upwellings were described and compared. Possible ecological impacts on the Listvennichny Bay due to the combined effects of increasing anthropogenic pressure and less frequent upwellings have been hypothesized.

Анотація:

The relevance of this article lies in the need to study the transformation of the image of Russians in the British media discourse during periods of allied relations between Russia and Britain and during periods of confrontation between these states, which is necessary to expand the understanding of the mechanisms of transformation of the image of ethnos in the political media discourse. The purpose of the article is a comparative analysis of the conceptual and linguistic-stylistic actualization of the images of Russians in the British media discourse during the Second World War and the last decade. The results of the research show that during the Second World War, when the Soviet Union and Britain were allies in the fight against Nazi Germany, the image of Russians had a positive connotative background. Its conceptual space included such axiologically significant concepts as "ally", "defence", "bravery", "courage", "battle", "sacrifice", "victory", "confidence", "unity" and "patriotism." Russians were attributed such positive personality qualities, represented in the conceptual space of the image by the corresponding concepts, as emotionality, a good sense of humor, complaisance, patience, cordiality Creating such an image, British journalists used functionalevaluative words of positive semantics, comparative constructions, allowing to show the constancy of positive qualities, and contrast, with which the bravery of Russian soldiers was emphasized in comparison with the nations that failed to resist fascism. Due to the confrontation between Russia and Britain that has intensified since 2014, the connotative background of the image of Russians is mostly very negative. The conceptual field of the image of Russians includes such axiologically significant concepts as "enemy", "crime", "prostitution", "corruption", "evil", "deceived by propa-ganda", "weakness", "fear", "despair" and "depression". This image is created with the help of evaluative and functional-evaluative lexemes with negative evaluation, com-parative constructions and metaphorical epithets.

Abstract. Contrail cirrus constitute the largest radiative forcing (RF) component to the total aviation effect on climate. However, the microphysical properties and radiative effects of contrail cirrus and natural cirrus clouds in the same meteorological conditions are still not completely resolved. Motivated by these uncertainties, we investigate an extended cirrus region perturbed by aviation in the North Atlantic region (NAR) on 26 March 2014 during the Midlatitude Cirrus (ML-CIRRUS) experiment. On that day, high air traffic density in the NAR combined with large scale cold and humid ambient conditions favored the formation of a contrail cirrus outbreak situation. In addition, low coverage by low-level water clouds and the homogeneous oceanic albedo increased the sensitivity for retrieving cirrus properties and their radiative effect from satellite remote sensing. This allowed us to extend the current knowledge on contrail cirrus by combining airborne in situ, lidar and satellite observations. In the synoptic context of a ridge cirrus, an extended thin ice cloud with many persistent contrails and contrail cirrus has been observed for many hours with the geostationary Meteosat Second Generation (MSG)/Spinning Enhanced Visible and InfraRed Imager (SEVIRI) from the early morning hours until dissipation after noon. Airborne lidar observations aboard the German High Altitude and LOng Range Research Aircraft (HALO) suggest that this cirrus has a significant anthropogenic contribution from aviation. A new method based on in situ measurements was used to distinguish between contrails, contrail cirrus and natural cirrus based on ice number and gas phase NO concentrations. Results show that contrail effective radii (Reff) reach at most 11 µm, while contrail cirrus Reff can be as large as 51 µm. Contrail and contrail cirrus mean Reff is 18 % smaller than that of natural cirrus. We find that a difference in Reff between contrail cirrus and natural cirrus survives in this contrail cirrus outbreak event. As for radiative effects, a new method to estimate top-of-atmosphere instantaneous RF in the solar and thermal range is developed based on radiative transfer model simulations exploiting in situ and lidar measurements, satellite observations and ERA5 reanalysis data for both cirrus and cirrus-free regions. Broadband irradiances estimated from our simulations compare well with satellite observations from MSG, indicating that our method provides a good representation of the real atmosphere and can thus be used to determine the RF of ice clouds. For a larger spatial area around the flight path, we find that the contrail cirrus outbreak is warming in the early morning and cooling during the day. The methods presented here and the results will be valuable for future research to constrain uncertainties in the assessment of radiative impacts of contrail cirrus and natural cirrus and for the formulation and evaluation of contrail mitigation options.

BackgroundSleep is an important aspect of health for patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA)[1], and it is therefore essential to identify modifiable factors related to reduced sleep quality.ObjectivesTo assess sleep quality and the associations between sleep quality and physical function, cardiorespiratory fitness and spinal mobility in patients with axSpA.MethodsIn this cross-sectional study, baseline data from the ESpA trial[2]was used. The assessments included sleep quality (Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index, PSQI) assessing 7 aspects of sleep quality (each scored 0-3, ≥2 reduced sleep quality), summed into a global score (0-21, 21=worst), performance-based physical function (Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) Performance Index, ASPI; time), patient-reported physical function (Bath AS Functional Index, BASFI; 0-10, 10=worst), cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2peak, ml/kg/min) and spinal mobility (Bath AS Metrology Index, BASMI; 0-10, 10=worst). Associations between PSQI (global score) and ASPI, BASFI, V02peak and BASMI were examined in separate models using linear regression analyses, controlling for age and sex.ResultsA total of 99 patients with axSpA were included, 55% male, mean age 46 years and 72% with high disease activity (ASDAS >2.1). Reduced sleep quality (PSQI global score >5) was found in 85% of the patients. The most frequently affected aspect was sleep disturbances (65%) followed by poor subjective sleep quality (53%), daytime dysfunction (41%) and increased sleep latency (41%) (figure 1). Adjusted for age and sex, statistically significant associations were observed between PSQI and ASPI (β=0.10, 95% CI=0.01, 0.19) and BASFI (β=0.85, 95% CI=0.51,1.20) and an inverse association between PSQI and VO2peak (β= -0.14, 95% CI=-0.27, -0.01) (table 1), indicating that better sleep quality is associated with better performance-based and patient-reported physical function and higher cardiorespiratory fitness. There was no association between PSQI and BASMI.ConclusionReduced sleep quality is highly prevalent in patients with axSpA, with disrupted sleep most frequently reported. Better sleep quality was associated with better physical function and higher cardiorespiratory fitness, but there was no association with spinal mobility. This article is focused on the reconstruction of major stage productions based on Eugene O’Neill’s autobiographical play Long Day’s Journey into Night (1941). The author reviews the American tragedy staged by Latin American directors Jose Quintero (Helen Hayes Theatre, New York, 1956) and Luciano Suardi (Teatro San Martin, Buenos Aires, 2023). Special attention is paid to the first screen version of the play (directed by Sidney Lumet, USA, 1962) and its last staging on Broadway (directed by Jonathan Kent, American Airlines Theatre, New York, 2016). Also under scrutiny are Eugene O’Neill’s private correspondence with the Spanish translator of his plays Leon Mirlas and the negotiations held between director Elia Kazan and playwright’s widow Carlotta Monterey O’Neill. For the first time in the history of Russian theatre studies we see an attempt to identify the causes for a failed U.S. Premiere of O’Neill’s tragedy in 1956 under Kazan’s direction.

Owe różnice coraz trudniej dziś dostrzec. Staje się to jednak możliwe wówczas, gdy do naszych rąk trafia, taka publikacja jak Rododendron na Alasce. Twórczość literacka 1941–1944 w przekładzie Grzegorza Ojcewicza i ze wstępem Jolanty Brzykcy. Publikacja, która zabiera nas w podróż do minionych czasów. Pozwala zobaczyć i usłyszeć miejsca z ich zapachami oraz dźwiękami. The article examines the history of the creation of the Lomonosov Moscow State University complex on the Leninskiye (Vorobyovy) Gory, the 70th anniversary of the opening of which is celebrated in 2023, based on the materials of the MSU Archive. The cultural and historical aspect of its creation after the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 reflects the socio-economic conditions, philosophical views, trends in culture, social tastes of the era and aesthetic preferences of the creators. In the architectural and landscape composition in the style of "triumph", the social image of the "palace of science" and the concept of the "garden city" were developed, embodied in the context of the modernization of the 1930s in the project of the "academic campus". An integral part of the new territory of the Moscow State University is the Botanical garden, the director-organizer of which - Professor Nina Alexandrovna Bazilevskaya (1902-1997) - a student of N. I. Vavilov - was 120 years old in 2022.

В статье приведены результаты изучения динамики земельных угодий на территории участка «Острасьевы яры» (заповедник «Белогорье») во второй половине XX – начале XXI века. Исследование проведено на основе дешифрирования данных дистанционного зондирования. Использовали три снимка: немецкий аэрофотоснимок 1941 года, космический снимок CORONA 1970 года и космический снимок GeoEye-1 2010 года. Первые два временных среза относятся к дозаповедному периоду развития территории. Для каждого временного среза была закартографирована граница Острасьевых яров и окружающей пашни, а также участки степной и лесной растительности внутри Острасьевых яров. Выявлено трехкратное (с 11 до 34 га) увеличение площади, занятой лесом в Острасьевых ярах за исследуемый период. Распространению древесной растительности способствовало уменьшение антропогенной нагрузки вследствие исчезновения населенных пунктов, располагавшихся в Острасьевых ярах и их окрестностях. Общая площадь Острасьевых яров колебалась в пределах 84–88 га, меняясь в зависимости от прекращения или возобновления распашки участков периферии балки. The study of the initial Soviet stage of the general education history is important both for understanding the transformative processes in the Soviet society as a whole, and for comparing the Soviet and post-Soviet societies. This issue is particularly topical due to the fact that, in accordance with the decree of the President of Russia, 2023 has been declared the Year of Teacher and Mentor. Having defined the impact of the state on the formation of priorities for professional activities in general education as the subject of research, the author highlights the educational and pedagogic course of work. An analysis of archival documents stored in the funds of the State Archive of Recent History of the Saratov Region was carried out. 1918 - 1941 Documents were studied within the framework of two historical periods. The first period started with the adoption of the "On a unified labor school" provision and ended in 1930 with return to stable programs and textbooks, the second period started in 1930 and ended with the beginning of World War II (1941). As a result of the study, it was found that loyalty to the content of educational programs in the twenties was replaced by increased control in the thirties. This period is characterized by the of teachers activities monitoring expansion that included student performance, the sanitary condition of schools, the school staff performance, assessment of the calligraphy rules observing by teachers when putting grades in students notebooks. Educational work remained a priority, since the curriculum in any discipline was associated with the communist education. The socialist competition in the school became a tool for controlling the professional activities of teachers. Educational institutions were involved in the socialist completion along with industrial enterprises. For schools the competition combined both vectors of teachers activities control and educational and pedagogic work in one tool. The widespread practice of ignoring the fulfillment of socialist competition conditions testifies to its visibility. The data, stored in the regional archive, on cases of conscious violation of the established work order, socialist competition imitation confirm that.
