Das Konzertmelodrama hat sich durch seine Geschichte als eigene Kunstgattung erwiesen und in verschiedene Typen von Monodram über das Duodram und Konzertmelodram bis zum Bühnenmelodram
ausdifferenziert. Bei böhmischen Komponisten erfreute es sich besonderer Pflege, Georg / Jirí Benda ist als einer der ersten erfolgreichen Schöpferder Gattung berühmt, und František Škroup hat sie als nationale Gattung in tschechischer Sprache eingeführt. Den Höhepunkt dieser Entwicklung bildeten die sechs Konzertmelodramen und sowie die Bühnenmelodramen (die Trilogie Hippodamie) von Zdenek Fibich. Als „die Kulmination des europäischen Melodrams“ ist sie von Jaroslav Jiránek bezeichnet worden.

Zdeněk Lukáš (1928-2007) was one of the most prolific Czech composers of the 20th century having composed over 300 pieces. His works include a wide array of genres including symphonies, operas, chamber music, and a large amount of choral and vocal music. He was influenced by Czech folklore and music and was self-taught until he was nearly 40 years old. Lukáš began his career as a teacher but later began working for the Czechoslovak Radio Studio in Plzeň where he founded the mixed choir, Česká Píseň (Czech Song), which became quite famous and still enjoys great fame.
Requiem per coro misto, op. 252 is considered by many to be Lukáš’s most famous choral work. It was written in 1992 for a cappella SSATB chorus. The piece is divided into seven movements; “Requiem aeternam,” “Dies irae,” “Lacrymosa,” “Offertorium,” “Hostias,” “Sanctus,” and “Agnus Dei.”
This document presents an analysis and conductor’s guide of Requiem. The analysis includes an examination of Latin pronunciation employing Germanic Latin when possible and an IPA pronunciation guide and translation of the text. Also included in the analysis is discussion on form, tonality, and development of melody, harmony, and rhythm all of which reveal that Lukáš wrote this piece in a very traditional style.
The conductor’s guide points out many of the issues that a choir may face in preparing Requiem. Some of the issues include intonation, range, and dynamics. One specific issue is that although the piece is tonal, there is considerable use of modes and scales that many singers would consider exotic. One such scale is the Hungarian Gypsy which is essentially a harmonic minor scale, but includes a raised fourth degree. Many of the intonation issues that could arise stem from the frequent parallel motion.
Lukáš believed that a cappella singing is one of the purest forms of music and that singers should be allowed to sing without regard to any instrumental influence whether it be from the composer or some other source. Requiem exhibits this belief through its challenges and its beauty. The work or its individual movements can be challenging yet accessible to singers of all levels.

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that Symphony No. 1 in F major, Op.
17, by Zdeněk Fibich embodies musical style features associated with both Czech and
German composers of the nineteenth century. The identification of these style features is
accomplished by comparing and contrasting Fibich's Symphony No. 1 in F major with
works by other prominent Czech and German composers whose music was performed
and well-known at the time. Particular emphasis is placed on the aural similarities
between Fibich's first symphony and that of other composers' works in an effort to show
Fibich's unique hybrid compositional style.
A second area of focus is the rise in European nationalism during the latter half of
the nineteenth century. Due to Fibich's mixed Czech and German heritage, nationalism is
explored in order to ascertain what effect, if any, nationalistic bias might have had on the
overall reception of Fibich's music and the composer's ability to have his music
performed during his lifetime.

The diploma thesis deals with opera The Tempest, Op. 40 by Zdeněk Fibich. Its task is to clarify the genesis of the work, its place in the context of the opera works written by this composer, mapping productions of the Tempest in Czech Republic and Slovakia, supplemented by a pictorial attachment from some historical productions. The main focus of the thesis is the dramatic analysis of the opera, which describes the basic differences between libretto (written by Vrchlický) and the William Shakespeare's original. The thesis also deals with the basic characteristic of characters and contains a list of Leitmotifs with examples. In the end of the thesis you will find a music and dramatic analysis of three particular places of the opera Tempest.

The dissertation introduces the reader to the 20th century Czech composer Zdeňek Lukáš, familiarizing the reader with his compositions for voice and providing the author's own interpretation of the song cycle Prosté písně. The first chapters provide information on the composer's life, the development of his compositional style, and, most importantly, the author's compositions themselves, which had a significant impact on the 20th century Czech music scene. The following chapters are dedicated to individual songs of the song cycle Prosté písně, focusing on its interpretation, the relationship between the text and the music, and the union of three components of the cycle - voice, flute, and piano. In her analysis of the individual songs, the author draws on her personal experience interpreting the cycle.

The subject of this diploma thesis is a theater and film production of Ladislav Smoljak. The thesis aims to discover consistent elements in his extensive work and define the poetics of the artist. The attention is focused primarily on his humor. Next goal is to define Smoljak's creative approach in relation to Zdeněk Svěrák; his long-time work partner. His work is mainly examined by textual analysis and analysis of the final productions. Theatrical productions: Vyšetřování ztráty třídní knihy made for Divadlo Járy Cimrmana, Hymna aneb Urfidlovačka, Fantom realistického divadla Zdeňka Nejedlého for Studio Jára (later renamed Studio Láďa) and Malý říjen for Divadlo Na Zábradlí. Zdeněk Kalista bezesporu patří k nejvýraznějším osobnostem české vědy a kultury uplynulého století. Vyvíjel aktivní činnost v mnoha oblastech společenského života, meZI nimiž dominovala především historie a literatura. V širším povědomí veřejnosti je dnes zapsán nejspíše jako kulturní historik, který se specializoval především na oblast českých dějin a kultury doby barokní, v níž mnohá jeho díla můžeme i z dnešního hlediska hodnotit jako průkopnická a dosud platná. Komplikované životní osudy a nepřízeň doby způsobily, že k plnému zhodnocení Kalistova významu se česká historická věda pozvolna dobírá až dnes,l kdy řada jeho prací vychází vůbec poprvé? Na své definitivní zasazení do kontextu vývoje české literatury Kalista stále ještě čeká, byť část jeho působení v jejím rámci - Kalistova poezie z počátku dvacátých let - je alespoň v hrubých obrysech v základních pracích pro příslušné období reflektována. Tato diplomová práce by se měla zabývat působením Zdeňka Kalisty jako literárního kritika. Této stránce Kalistova působení však zatím nebyla věnována soustavnější pozornost, což může sice být vysvětlitelné dobovými okolnostmi,4 nicméně je nutné podotknout, že bez zkoumání jeho literárněkritického působení zůstává Kalistův obraz nutně neúplný. První cást mé diplomové práce má ukázat a popsat Zdenka Nejedlého jako historika Litomyšle predevším v souvislosti se vznikem dvou monografií o dejinách Litomyšle z let 1903 a 1934. Okolnosti vzniku první knihy mají blízký vztah k vzniku druhé práce a navíc skýtají možnost vzájemne je porovnávat. Nesmíme též zapomenout, že Nejedlý byl historikem svého mesta i díky porádání mestského archivu a publikování nekterých clánku o historii mesta. I tato fakta budu do svého hodnocení zahrnovat. Druhá cást diplomové práce se zabývá spolecenskými a politickými styky Zdenka Nejedlého a má za cíl zhodnotit jeho kulturní aktivity v Litomyšli. Zde pak jsou základem pro anylýzu tri velké výstavy z let 1931, 1932 a 1934, pricemž jsou zmíneny i další kulturní aktivity Nejedlého a jeho spolupracovníku. V neposlední rade se tato práce snaží osvetlit problematiku neudelení zejména druhého castného obcanství Zdenku Nejedlému v roce 1936 a širší okolnosti této skutecnosti. Odhalení této problematiky zapadne do politických styku, jež Nejedlý udržoval ve meste. Základním východiskem mi v této práci bude korespondence Zdenka Nejedlého, kterou vedl s mnoha osobnostmi meziválecné Litomyšle. Korespondence je obcas dosti neformálního rázu a umožnuje sondu nejen do nitra osobnosti Zdenka Nejedlého, ale i lidí, s nimiž ji udržoval. Zde...

Synopsis The work covers the first two periods of life of the art historian Zdeněk Wirth. Wirth was one of the most influential figures of Czech cultural history of the first half of 20th century. He significantly infuenced domestic art history, he became one of the most active trendsetters as regards Modem Style in architecture in Bohemia, and, last but not least, he had merit in a distinct strengthening of position of the club-based and state care of historical monuments. In the period between the two World Wars Wirth was able, due to his high position, exercise influence over other areas of Czechoslovak culture and science - history, archival science, librarianship, museums, art education, intemational cultural contacts, theatre, cinema. Wide range of his activities enabled not to discuss only questions related directly to his personality, but, at the same time, to consider overall development of domestic care of historical monuments in the period in question. The dissertation deals with a complete cycle of piano pieces by Zdeněk Fibich called The Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences. The cycle has been largely presented in the literature as a `composer's love diary`, used to search for identical motifs across the composer's late work and understood in the context of programme music. The aim of the dissertation is to evaluate objectively this present majority view and to put a new view on it, to inform about the circumstances of the comprehensive complete edition of The Moods, Impressions and Reminiscences, to analyse the ensemble as a set of lyrical piano pieces with their specific purely musical features and to place the Fibich cycle into the context of the lyrical piano piece of the late 19th century. The work focuses mainly on musical- structural analysis based on grasping the form of compositions with the predominant way of thematic-motivational construction, observation and comparison of tonal fitting, dimension, prescribed times and searching for motivational, cyclic and other possible links. The master's theses are meant as a monography, that informs about an important personality of the cultural life in Olomouc, doc. PhDr. Zdeněk Fridrich CSc. He made a large impact within the field of historical organ building in Moravia, where he presented the organs and made a case for the necessity of their renewal. His publications are renowned publicly both domestically and internationally. Next, he dealt with composition and created a complex work. He wrote vocal and instrumental compositions ranging from small chamber ensembles to pieces for a symphony orchestra. Not of lesser importance was his pedagogical activity. Zdenek Fridrich taught at the Institut for Music Pedagogy on the Pedagogical Faculty of Palacký University in Olomouc for thirty years where he pedagogically influenced the profiles of many graduates, that have become successful in the musical praxis. Part of this thesis is a CD with examples of Zdenek Fridrich's works.

This thesis takes an interest in urbanistic development of Pelhrimov at the turn of 19th and 20th century. It tries to show process of the urbanization basically with an example of this town. It takes a note of evolution of small-towners` esthetical feelings and their approach to the care of historical monuments and it wants to find movers and initiators of architecture changes in the town. From this poit of view it takes an interest in regional section of Club For old Prague mainly. Mambers of the section became advisory authority in questions of rebuilding Pelhrimov during the early 20th century. They arranged contacts with Prague{\crq}s architects and historians of art. There have been realized some interesting projects thanks to them. The most telling was a cooperation with architect Pavel Janak and historian Zdenek Wirth. Pelhrimov rose from small-town{\crq}s culture for a while. But the promotion of new trends in art faced to protests of still conzervative inhabitants.

The Diploma work compares two life stories of friendship and cooperation of a museologist and founder of museum ?Národopisné muzeum Plzeňska? Ladislav Lábek from Pilsen (1882?1970) and his friend a historian of art Zdeněk Wirth from Vysoké Mýto (1878?1961). The first chapter after introduction is about personal and professional life of Ladislav Lábek. The chapter tells his life´s story from his birth to the beginnig of the ?First World War?. The next chapter is about the life story of Zdeněk Wirth in the same time period. The chapter number four is about first Labek´s and Wirth´s projects when their started their big cooperation and relationship which (1911?1961) when Zdeněk Wirth died. In this chapter we can find some main institutions like ?Klub Za starou Prahu? or ?Kroužek přátel starožitností v Plzni? that helped Lábek and Wirth to save many historical memories in Pilsen and thanks them they both found future friends and collegues. The chapter number five is about life, work and cooperation of Lábek and Wirth in the ?World War the First? when they fought on the fields of ?Eastern front? but they both still worked on their projects from the museum´s and monument preservation area. The next chapter is about one of the most interesting years of Lábek and Wirth, which were between two world wars when they helped to constitute museum´s organization and monument preservation during the beginning of the Czechoslovak Republic. In this time period Lábek and Wirth wrote many interesting historical titles that have been still updated. They both also hepled each other with their life proffesional and family projects. The next chapter is about life of Wirth and Lábek during the ?World War the Second?, about lifes of their families, work and their revolt against nacistic occupation. In the last two chapters we can read about life periods of Lábek and Wirth after the ?World War the Second? and time periods after fatal year 1948 in Czechoslovakia. Chapter is ended by the death of both personalities. In the last chapters we can find the summary of diploma work, the summary of literature and sources, the edition of 23 interesting letters between Lábek and Wirth and also some visual supplements.

Vilém Zdeněk Stezka's final work, Wind Serenade from 1939, was partially lost in a small earthquake that occurred in Bergamo, Italy on July 31, 2012. In this study I present both analysis and contextualization of the surviving fragments of Stezka's music. Some fragments consist of completed movements, others survive only in short score format, and still others have been completely destroyed. I have used the knowledge gained therefrom to complete Wind Serenade in a fashion that is appropriate in both style and expression. I have also detailed the process of completion in this study as each fragment demands both a unique perspective and technique.text

This thesis deals with the personality of prominent lawyer and a political scientist Zdenek Mlynar during his tenure at the Institute of State and Law of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Mlynar was one of the leading figures and ideologues of the Prague Spring; in the first half of 1968 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and later he became its secretary. He was also one of the authors of the 'Action Programme' of the Communist Party, precisely of its political part. Ondřej Podavka Zdeněk Brtnický of Waldstein and his diary from the years 1597−1603 (Abstract) The subject of the doctoral thesis is an in many aspects noteworthy personality of Moravian aristocrat Zdeněk Brtnický of Waldstein, one of the 30 directors in the era of rebellion of the estates. The dissertation focuses chiefly on the period of his and pre-university and university studies, for which the largest amount of the sources has been preserved, primarily his voluminous personal diary. Zdeněk Brtnický of Waldstein was born on 12 May 1582. In his very childhood he became an orphan - his father Henry Brtnický of Waldstein and on Sádek died already in 1589, followed by his wife and Zdeněk's mother Susanne Helt of Kement three years later. First place where Waldstein is known to have studied, is Lutheran noblemen's school in Velké Meziříčí, which was founded by Waldstein's grandmother Alena Helt of Kement, born Meziříčská of Lomnice. These include the Prague office buildings of Motokov, Strojimport and Omnipol, the east stand of the Strahov stadium, the Permanent Representation of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in Milan and Hotel Horal in Špindlerův Mlýn. His works are presented in the cultural and historical context of Czechoslovakia in the 1960s and 1970s. The buildings and their interiors are not only formally described, the thesis also focuses on their contribution to the urban environment and the technologies used. The main principles of Kuna's work and the way he conceives of architecture are covered, as well as his sources of inspiration.

The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the media image of the influential Czech businessman Zdenek Bakala who is also the owner of the company Economia, publisher of Hospodarske noviny. Bakala is a member of a small group of Czech billionaires who have completely taken control over the most important media groups and thus all national dailies over the last decade. Politician Andrej Babis is also concidered as one of them. His entry into the media market after the acquisition of the Mafra was the most significant moment for the rise of the so-called oligarchization of domestic media. Czech media ownership changes have raised suspicions that these modern media magnates have acquired the media in order to defend their economic and political interests. There are concerns mainly because they could influence the content of the media and thus disrupt editorial freedom and jeopardize the functioning of the entire media system. They can also use their media power to influence public opinion, which is largely shaped by the media. This thesis will therefore want to verify whether the owners use their influence in their media. The aim of this thesis is to present the literary activities of Zdenek Kalista in 1919- 1924, a period which saw him becoming one of the most prominent figures of the young post- war generation of writers. The research has been primarily based on materials that had been so far ignored or insufficiently reflected (literary remains of Zdenek Kalista, Antonin Matej Pisa, Cestmir Jerabek, Lev Blatny, Jiri Wolker etc., as well as articles from contemporary magazines and daily newspapers) together with Kalista's memoirs. The thesis is divided into five chronologically sorted parts, each reflecting one year of Kalista's life and work and relating them to the literary situation of that time, while continuously describing them from multiple perspectives. In the first part, Kalista's personal life and the activities of the youngest literary generation are analyzed. Annotation This diploma work is centred on the Milada Součková´s poetry between years 1942 ? 1983. The opening chapter is devoted to thesis and to methodolohical demarcation of the diploma work. Next the work attends to terminological demarcation of the notion ?avant-garde?. Primarily features chosen vocabulary imtems then result from Vladimír Papoušek´s book ? Gravitation of avant-gard. The second chapter deal with confrontation tendency of avant-garde with artistic tendency in Milada Součková´s piece. The work then ask question if is adequate to talk of Součková in context of avant-garde. Then the work hints at the same problemms in the chapter three which is devoted to Milada Součková´s husband, Zdenek Rykr. Then this chapter deals with contracted interception of Rykr´s life and try to cut up the similar common tendencies in the husbands´s pieces. The chapter fourth focuses on three Milada Součková´s studies, written between 1954 ? 1964. There are the studies characterized shortly in the work and confronted partly with the Součková´s piece and life again. The closing chapter is devoted to Milada Součková´s poetry itself. There are presented the idividual garners in the subchapters, the garners are interpreted by authoress of this work, she captures common tendencies of Součková´s piece and the garners are confronted each other. She references to two poems published between 1938 - 1939 also. The claim of this chapter is then to cut up the metamorphoses or recurrent themes, motives in the Milada Součková´s complex piece on the contrary.

The diploma thesis deals with the history of the production of medicines and medicinal products, the company of Zdeněk Klan and a partial inventory of specialties. The aim of the thesis was to map the time, which was characterized by the industrial production of drugs and medicines, the so-called specialties. Zdeněk Klan was able to take advantage of the situation and build his own company Dr. Mr. Zdeněk F. Klan pharmaceutical-chemical laboratory, operating in the years 1924-1948. He was able to compete with other companies with his products. The production was focused mainly on application forms for internal medicine. In addition to human preparations, he also produced preparations for veterinary use. The Klan Company succumbed to the process of nationalization in 1948, when all companies with more than 50 employees were nationalized and subsequently abolished. On the basis of the study of mainly archival sources stored in the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum in Kuks, a thesis was prepared describing this company from its establishment to nationalization. His CV was also prepared. The period after the February 1948 posed great changes for the cultural sphere, the groups and clubs were dissolved, artists who did not want to squeeze into the limits of socialist realism had no choice than to close themselves in the privacy of their homes and studios. After 1950, however, a group of friends around Jiří Kolář formed in Prague, who shared the same views on political and cultural development and, despite various artistic orientations, captured everyday experiences in pictures or texts. The thesis focuses on the friendship of Jiří Kolář, Vladimír Fuka, Eva Fuka, Zdeněk Urbánek, Jan Rychlík, Kamil LhoJan Hanč, Josef Schwarz-Červinka, Emanuel Frynta and others, and tries to portray this period of time, their mutual inspirations and relationships, and especially the extremely creative atmosphere, which was originated in this friendly circle. The thesis is based on diary entries, drawings, collages, poems and literary texts, which they created together and for each other in this unique, free and inspiring environment.

As it is obvious from the title of the graduate work "Antonín Markus, the archivist of the town of Třeboň, and Zdeněk Wirth, the arthistorian - analysis and selective edition of the common correspondence, the authoress primary intended to prepare the analysis and elaboration of the edition of the unique epistular collection, which covers almost a half of century of the mutual friendship and cooperation of the two important representatives of the Czech cultural scene of the first and the beginning of the second half of the 20th century. The editated correspondence is a part of the personal inheritances of the both mentioned men which is saved in the State region archive in Třeboň (Antonín Markus) and in the Institute of the history of art of the Academy of sciences of the Czech republic (Zdeněk Wirth).The first part of the diploma work brings the general essay on the correspondence as an object of the scientist´s interest and the survey of the authors of the certain works on the edition analysis of correspondence of the various personalities. Next chapter introduces the used sources and special literature which the authoress used. The life stories of Antonín Markus, the longtime archivist of the Třeboň Schwarzenberg´s archive, and Zdeněk Wirth, our eminent arthistorian and organizator of the monument preservation, are presented in the individual biographies. Next part of the work shows the analysis of the correspondence from the view of the condition and amount, kind of communication, frequence of answering and the outer look of the individual documents, which is ensembled with the topic analysis of it´s content. The commented selected edition is followed by the editing notice and the name index. Other part brings of course the list of sources and used literature. The end of the diploma work includes the visual enclosures which suitably enrich the written part.

The paper maps the use of the principle of randomness in artistic activity with a focus on visual art and the placement of Czech art into the world context. It examines the hypothesis whether randomness in the hands of the artist becomes an instrument to objectify his or her work and to approach the general principles of the natural world, which, according to the assumption, add novelty and consequently increases its artistic value. The text begins with an etymological interpretation of the concept of randomness, further observes the randomness as phenomenon in various social spheres, and eventually presents the artistic movements and artworks that systematically use randomness. An overview of avant-garde art and abstraction of the first half of the 20th century will allow the author to interpret the principles of randomness used in computer art. The work concludes with a detailed analysis of Zdeněk Sýkora's work, in which, according to the author, the development line of precomputational art is mirrored, along with a breakthrough to digital tools. The conclusion of the work reveals the diversity of the application of the principle of randomness in the art world and finds a common divisor in the objectivizing function, respectively the rising aesthetic value. Thesis Comparison of selected Czech translations of Cervantes's Don Quixote Vojtěch Kolomý Abstract The aim of this thesis is to compare the last two translations of Cervantes's Don Quixote: the translation realised by Václav Černý in 1931 and the translation of Zdeněk Šmíd from 1952. Although the thesis focuses on the original versions of both translations, the later changed editions are taken into account too. The structure of the thesis is as follows: First, the thesis analyses Cervantes's original text with respect to the translation and after a short chapter about the first Czech translators of Don Quixote and their translations, it describes the translations of Černý and Šmíd and the circumstances of the genesis of both translations. Then, the core of this thesis is a detailed parallel comparison of certain passages from Don Quixote. In the final chapter, the findings are applied. The diploma thesis called "(APPLIED) GRAPHICS of Zdenek Rykr" is composed of theoretical and practical part. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the life and work of Zdenek Rykr, especially his contribution to applied graphics, and to connect these findings with the practical part. The theoretical part is divided into two main chapters. The first one focuses on the definition of applied graphics and its development in the early 20th century in Europe and then in Bohemia. The second, and more crucial, part is about the life and advertising work of Zdenek Rykr, about his loved ones, and about Rykr's sudden suicide. The practical part is represented by the author's book which is a collection of graphic sheets made using the linocut technique. Graphic sheets are presented in the similarly designed case, and are freely inspired by the diverse travel life of Zdenek Rykr and his advertising work.

Language and style of the plays written for Jára Cimrman Theatre This magister thesis deals with language analysis of the stage plays of Jára Cimrman Theatre. The opening chapter describes general information about the theatre and it's authors as well. The thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part is based on results of theoretical studies of different authors, especially Bohuslav Brouk, Henri Bergson, Ladislav Dvorský and Vladimír Borecký. The practical part contains the detailed language analysis of all 15 stage plays. This diploma work analyzes which types of language comic we can find there and how much are they extended. Linguistic performances are separated on the principle of linguistics on individual linguistic branches. This diploma work also discusses mystification as a common framework for realization of all comic means. In this Master's thesis, I attempt to capture the disparate semiosis of two musical genres - a traditional opera, Rusalka, which has a unique position in Czech national music, and a musical of the same name. On the basis of theoretical findings from semiotics as a science, from the approaches of F. de Saussure, C. S. Peirce and R. Barthes, and by means of semiotic analysis, the thesis unravels semantic elements that are specific for theatrical art. Attention is directed at the symbol as a major tool for semiosis and the classification of symbols on the basis of Peirce's three ontological categories. The analysis focuses on decoding the semiotic systems used in the two genres (the libretto, the music, the characters, the story, and the technical and symbolic means that are employed). The analysis also deals with the question of intertextuality and the ideological background of the text, and attempts in this way to compare the differences and/or the similarities of diverse semiotic codes of the same class, and to capture their originality and specificity. At the same time, the thesis is focused on the dominant semiotic code of the two genres. ENGLISH ABSTRACT This dissertation is focused on Prague in views in literary works of post-february exile authors, which emigrated after year 1948: Egon Hostovský, Zdeněk Němeček and Jiří Kovtun. The picture of Prague, which we can (re)construct from their works, is different in each case. In the novel Nezvěstný of Egon Hostovský dominate followings motives: gray, weak contours, theatricality, panoptic and a metaphorical description of February Prague. The main features of the works of Zdeněk Nemeček are: close relationship between teller and main character, short dialogs, view from above, sad feelings and feeling of separation. Konvtun's work named Pražská ekloga is specific with irony (it is evidently a product of considerable time span from the other described events), naturalistic features and war atmosphere. The authors associate a considerable relationship to Prague and their contributions to the programme "Slovo a svět" of the Radio Free Europe, in spite of their different life stories and poetics. The main theoretic result of the diploma is city poetology of Daniela Hodrová ("Citlivé město"). Master thesis Zlatý máj - Magazine about Children's Literature and Art and the Personality of Z. K. Slabý follows foundation and history of Czechoslovak literary journal Zlatý máj. It has been published from September 1956 till December 1997, when 391 issues came out in forty one volumes. The magazine experienced its golden era in 1960s, when it participated not only in domestic, but also in international discussions about children and youth literature. But it also endured through the time of so called normalization (1969 - 1989), when most of literary or cultural magazines perished, and its final end was brought by lack of finance after formation of democratic Czech Republic. The name of writer and literary critic Zdeněk Karel Slabý has been tied to Zlatý máj for the most of its existence. He acted at first as the redactor, in two periods as editor in chief (1968 - 1971, 1990 - 1992) and at last as a member of board of editors. As a part of his job, but also because of his active and creative nature he shaped or co-shaped the image of Zlatý máj. His authorial signature is visible in his texts, his opinions and preferences formed the sections and content of the magazine. Master thesis analyses the work of Z. K. Slabý and defines its place and importance in context of the literary theory and critique.

Miroslav Volf's theology of embrace in the context of CHC theology focusing on the question of eschatology leading to Christian engaged life Filip Sedlák Abstract At the turn of the 19th and 20th century theology has reevaluated its basis so that eschatology regained its position of this basis. The view, which was kept only by the outsiders in the period of the Enlightment, has become a generally accepted one. The intensity of this shift changed in a variety of ways but it cannot certainly be said that it was overcome or replaced by a new wave until now. The importace of the eschatological viewpoint in contemporary theology has affected to a great extent also the theology of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church (CHC). However, the importace of eschatology in the CHC theology does not stem from the mentioned shift only, but has its historical roots in the Czech Reformation from which the subject of eschatology is inseparable, as well as in its understanding eschatology as an impulse to practical action perceived as preparing the ways for the Lord's coming which can eventually turn to the revolutionary dimension. The first part of the diploma thesis is focused on the history and activity of the literary and visually artistic Group Ra, especially in the years 19361948. The artistic output of Ra comes out of Surrealism and is notably influenced by it; however, later Ra creates its own style following Surrealism and at the same time going beyond it. This part devotes to the signs of Surrealism, similarities and differences between Ra and the previous generation, contacts of the Younger Surrealists and also displays the poetics of the group members and their works. The second half of the thesis is concentrated on one of the Younger Surrealists, on Ludvík Kundera and his various works and specific expression with which enriches the way how Ra reflects and depicts the world. The dissertation thus presents not only a group creating art during the German occupation and war, but also exposes the contribution of the Group Ra and Ludvík Kundera to the artistic avant-garde.

This dissertation examines the as yet untethered practice of the convergence of film and architecture in public municipal spaces against the backdrop of the idea of the relocation of the moving picture. Since this is an interdisciplinary practice whose forms and operations are influenced by a host of dynamics, the initial film perspective is supplemented by related themes from the spheres of architecture, public municipal space, and the organisation of culture and the applied arts, including advertising. The wide range of subjects covered in this dissertation is given focus by narrowly localised research examining the situation in Prague from the 1990s until 2010. Along with the case study, the chapters devoted to the discursive field form a progress report on the situation as regards this particular media practice, the outputs of which are subject to a short half-life that considerably limits the possibility of archiving them. The structure of the case study is derived from a specific classificatory framework and is close to the "catalogue" format, determined by a series of questions - who participated on the convergence of film and architecture and where, when and how. This Diploma Paper is outlined in order to show the reader one of the possible ways of how to introduce the antiquity to children. Our journey will take us to the oldest times of human history which left us almighty heritage not only in the field of art. In the theoretical part we will meet the prehistoric art together with the evolution of human kind and we will look into the expositions of prehistoric settlement that took place in the territory of our state. Nowadays these expositions can be find in collections of our museums. The hinge part of Diploma Paper is focused on methodology. The relevant questions about prehistorical mammoth hunters, which is introduced in all its width, is carried over to artwork and projects that are the samples of work of pupils from primary schools. Particularly thanks to them it was possible for the exhibition {\clqq}Expedition after the mammoth hunters`` to start up. I would be pleased if my Diploma Paper became interesting inspiration for my collegues {--} teachers and pedagogues in their work with children as well as the exhibition The mammoth hunters in the National Museum was for me.

The main goal of this diploma thesis is analysis and reconstruction of the information network of major representative of anti-Austrian resistance abroad T. G. Masaryk in the First World War. The analysis and reconstruction will be put in context of contemporary events. Emphasis will be put on foreign and domestic information sources. It will show by which way and by whom was T. G. Masaryk informed about events in Bohemia and Austria-Hungary and what meaning this information had for his activities abroad.
