During the years of post-war reconstruction in Italy, the project represented an instrument of revenge on the ruins inherited from the war and industry seemed to be the answer to the needs of a society that was rebuilding itself. The bond between project and industry thus spreads to all sectors of artistic production and the common thread is the use of words borrowed from the world of industry, thus raising the phenomenon of industrialisation. Olivetti’s experience is placed in this scenario, characterised by his interest beyond the factory, aimed at architectural, urban planning, cultural, publishing, and political issues. The Olivetti ideal focuses on aspects ranging from the typewriter to the city. The best architects work for Olivetti, and among them is Marco Zanuso. The factory is the topos of the project, in which theories of building industrialisation are synthesised. Zanuso experiments with the material’s potential to address issues related to the factory; in the reinforced concrete, he discovers the possibility of rationalising the composition process. Thus, the structure finds the perfect balance between technique and expressive language, generating space, light, form, and function. The beam-pillar system, an ideal synthesis of the architecture for Olivetti in Argentina and Brazil, discloses the capacity to conceive space as a single entity, in which the recognisability of the construction system becomes the identifying key of the factory itself.

Lucio Fontana’s collaboration with architects, which continued to progress over the entire period of his creative experience along with his more famous artistic and spatial production, offered important opportunities for experimentation and research. The artist worked with architects such as Luigi Figini, Gino Pollini, Giò Ponti, Luciano Baldessari, Marco Zanuso, Osvaldo Borsani and Ico Parisi, and it was actually the architects who first intuited the innovative scope of his research. It involved works of a temporary nature carried out for exhibitions, trade fairs and celebrations of historical events, some of which went missing at the end of the events, but also some that became an integral part of extant architecture. Indeed, the artist made numerous environmental works for public buildings, hotels, cinemas and private homes, using traditional materials such as ceramics, mosaics and plaster, as well as new media such as fluorescent colours, black lights, neon lights, and more. As often happens, and as needs and tastes changed, the works were decontextualized and assumed a different connotation.Here below is a description of the choices made during three of the seven restorations we carried out in the last few years on environmental works created by Fontana between the mid-1940s and the end of the 1950s, which were taken from their original location and moved to new sites.

This paper focuses on the investigation and understanding of the industrial heritage designed and built in Campania region, between Naples and Caserta, by the most important Italian architects and engineers in the post-war season. The principal aim of this paper is to present the rich and heterogeneous catalogue of factories designed in these years through unpublished drawings and photos from the building sites. These examples show a notion of modularity that brings interesting innovations in terms of on-site prefabrication of modular components and construction systems. The construction of these factories is therefore in contrast with Italy’s traditional building techniques based on craft approach and intense use of labour. The project of these factories is the outcome of the effort of famous architects and engineers, such as Lugi Figini e Gino Pollini, Angelo Mangiarotti, Marco Zanuso, Eduardo Vittoria, and Gigi Ghò, who experimented new structural solutions based on the orderly and coherent composition of prefabricated elements. This research stems from the revitalised interest in studies of prefabrication in Italy between the 50's to the 70's of the last century, and about the innovative aesthetic outcomes developed from it. In addition, this paper contributes to evaluate the qualitative connections between construction, geography and labour, assessing the friction between the advanced products and knowledge imported from the North and the agricultural vocation of these regions. The paper will also put in relation the development of prefabrication systems in the less-developed South of Italy in the wider context of the great industrialization boosted by political decisions and state financial helps of “Cassa del Mezzogiorno”.

Pojava pokreta je obično reakcija na postojeće stanje i javljaju se kao duhovno nezadovoljstvo i negodovanje na devijantne pojave, želja za formiranjem novog identiteta, unutarnji nemir, duhovno gibanje; pokušaj da se dosegnu viši ciljevi; napor da se teorija prevede u praksu. Ako su ispravno motivirani javljaju se kao sveti zanos, a bez tog zanosa nema i ne može biti duhovne obnove. ‘’Svatko tko odbacuje utopiju ostavlja čovječanstvo na milost i nemilost istrumentalnoj racionalnosti’’, prepušta ga ‘’želji za moć’’ manipuliranju i diktaturi’'. (A.Heller) Oni se, dakle, javljaju kao posljedica nezadovoljenih potreba, kao reakcija na duhovnu anemičnost i inertnost, pa stoga streme ka većim duhovnim promjenama. Svaki novostvoreni život ima svoj ritam koji ne priznaje okoštale forme, i stremi harmoničnom zajedništvu.

V raziskavi nas je zanimal konstrukt zanosa kot optimalnega psihičnega stanja, ki je povezan z visokimi dosežki in pozitivnimi izkušnjami. Predvidevamo, da je pogostost doživljanja zanosa prirazličnih glasbenih aktivnostih (npr. vadenju, solističnem nastopu, nastopu z orkestrom) povezana z doživljanjem subjektivnega blagostanja na splošno v življenju. Štiriinosemdeset udeležencev (28 moških in 56 žensk), študentk in študentov Akademije za glasbo, je izpolnilo Vprašalnik pozitivne in negativne emocionalnosti PANAS, Lestvico zadovoljstva z življenjem (SWLS) in Vprašalnik zanosa (DFS-2), ki meri devet vidikov zanosa. Rezultati potrjujejo, da je več vidikov zanosa pozitivno povezanih z merami subjektivnega blagostanja. Jasnost ciljev, ravnovesje med izzivom in sposobnostmi, usmerjenost na nalogo in autoteličnost (samonagrajevalna moč) izkušnje so pomembni prediktorji pozitivne emocionalnosti in pojasnjujejo 36 % variance. Ravnovesje med izzivom in sposobnostmi je pomemben prediktornegativne emocionalnosti in pojasnjuje 26 % variance. Jasnost ciljev predstavlja pomemben prediktor zadovoljstva z življenjem in pojasnjuje 8 % variance. Zaključujemo, da je doživljanje zanosa v večji meripovezano z emocionalnimi kot pa s kognitivnimi vidiki subjektivnega blagostanja, kar ne preseneča, saj je doživljanje zanosa izrazito emocionalna izkušnja.

This research investigates the impact of ATM banking services on customer satisfaction, utilizing an exploratory approach to evaluate the satisfaction levels of ZANACO ATM services in the Lusaka District. The specific objectives include assessing the availability, performance, security, and challenges faced by customers when using ZANACO ATM systems. The study focused on customers of ZANACO Bank in the Lusaka District, with a sample size of 150 customers representing various customer profiles. The study findings indicate that while ZANACO ATM services are generally available, there is some disagreement among respondents regarding the accessibility of these ATMs. Despite favorable ratings for performance, participants expressed concerns about long queues, transaction errors, and occasional cash shortages at ZANACO ATMs. Regarding security, respondents generally agreed that ZANACO ATMs are secure; however, challenges such as failed transactions, delays in resolving issues, and instances of ATMs running out of cash were identified. Furthermore, the study revealed no significant variations in results based on individual characteristics such as gender, age, education level, or customer tenure with the bank. Recommendations for ZANACO Bank include enhancing customer mapping strategies to improve ATM service accessibility, promptly addressing failed transactions (especially VISA transactions), and ensuring consistent availability of cash in all ATMs to minimize customer inconvenience.

The Yarlung Zangbo River is not only the longest plateau river in China, but also one of the highest rivers in the world. This paper studies ecology, geology, investment and benefits respectively. Based on the data of the elevation, drop and fish abundance of the Yarlung Zangbo River, combined with its geographical location, a multi-objective optimization model is established. To analyzes the number of hydropower stations built on the Yarlung Zangbo River from the perspective of maximum energy utilization, this paper use the dynamic programming method to find the maximum output energy of each hydropower station. The conclusion is that the total output of 16 hydropower stations is 51358600KW, which reaches a high level. It is estimated that the potential power generation capacity of the Yarlung Zangbo River is about 55 million KW.

In the Biblioteca Forteguerriana of Pistoia (Italy), a small collection of Ethiopian manuscripts is kept, entrusted to the Library by the heirs of Ferdinando Martini (1841-1928), “governatore civile” of the Colonia Eritrea from 1897 to 1907. These five manuscripts are catalogued here. Of great philological and artistic relevance is the illustrated Octateuch dated 1438 (Ms. Martini etiop. n. 2 = Zanutto n. 5), probably written in Tigrāy, namely in the monastery of Dabra Seqwert, district of Saḥart. In the XIXth-cent. chronological codex Martini etiop. n. 1 (= Zanutto n. 1), the materials transmitted by the traditional Liber Axumae are considerably enlarged and updated. The homiletic volume Martini etiop. n. 5 (= Zanutto n. 2), previously owned by Eǧǧegāyyahu, the mother of Menilek II (1844–1913), Emperor from 1889 to 1913, dates back to the XIXth cent. and contains various texts, still unpublished. The collection includes also an XVIIIth-cent. Hāymānota ’abaw (Ms. Martini etiop. n. 4 = Zanutto n. 4), closing with the apocryphal Book of the Letter, and a XVII–XVIIIth-cent. History of the Galla (Ms. Martini etiop. n. 3 = Zanutto n. 3), possibly the oldest manuscript of one of the first works of Amharic literature.

Global warming has led to an increase in interest in river hydrology. Water surface slope is a basic parameter of river morphology and is critical in understanding riverine ecosystems. The Yarlung Zangbo River is an important international river. Scientific understanding of its hydrology has been severely limited by its harsh topography and the sparse distribution of measurement stations. This paper describes the first attempt to use ICESat-2 satellite altimetry data to calculate river water slope and introduces a new technique for studying river hydrology. Water level data for different stretches of the Yarlung Zangbo River were obtained from high spatial resolution ICESat-2 altimetry data. The data were analyzed to determine the water surface slope of the Yarlung Zangbo River, and variation in the water surface slope was examined for several river sections. The water surface slope of the Yarlung Zangbo River was greatest in summer and autumn and least in winter and spring. There may be seasonal cyclic changes in the water surface slope. The range for water surface slope was large and the difference in extremes is significant; the maximum average water surface slope was 1935.17 cm/km and the minimum water surface slope was 0.08 cm/km. The water surface slope of the Yarlung Zangbo River can be characterized as small in the upper and middle reaches and large in the lower reaches; it is related to dry and wet conditions determined by topography and climate. The upper and middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River are semi-arid and the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River span three climate zones: semi-arid, semi-humid and humid. In addition, the water level information measured by ICESat-2 data is basically similar to the water level information measured by Hydroweb data, except that the water level information of individual virtual stations is quite different due to special reasons. It was found that ICESat-2 data had higher-accuracy water level data results and more river location information. Therefore, ICESat-2 satellite altimetry data can provide a baseline reference for the study of the Yarlung Zangbo River hydrology, and the technique used is applicable to other rivers.

The main purpose of the research was to find out the customer service quality in the banking industry with respect to ZANACO PLC. The literature review on the subject was mainly collected from journals, textbooks, publications of articles and other relevant literature. The purpose was mainly to enhance the understanding of the subject. The primary data was collected from existing ZANACO west branch customers and its Management; Data was collected through questionnaires, direct observations, and personal interviews with the key informants on the subject matter. This research sought to establish the customer service quality in the banking sector, a case of ZANACO Ndola. The main objective of the study was to investigate the impact of customer service quality in the banking sector and make recommendations based on the findings of the study and to determine the importance of providing quality customer service to customers, and at the same time, checking whether customer service is a tool for gaining competitive advantage. Mainly a descriptive research design was used for the collection and analysis of data. Finally, it was found that customers are generally satisfied with the quality of services offered by ZANACO. In Tibet, water resource has been less studied due to remote and harsh conditions. In this study, hydrochemistry and stable isotopes (δ2H, δ18O and 87Sr/86Sr) were employed to investigate the major factors affecting the hydrochemical process of groundwater and surface water in the lower reaches of the Yarlung-Zangbo River, southern Tibet. Groundwater and surface water were weakly alkaline and very soft to moderately hard water. The hydrochemical type of surface water is mainly Ca-HCO3 (mainstream) and Ca-SO4-HCO3 (tributary), while the hydrochemical type of groundwater was mainly Ca-SO4-HCO3. Multivariate statistical analysis and Gibbs analysis proposed hydrochemical components were dominated by water-rock interaction. Ion ratio, saturation index, and Sr isotope revealed calcite dissolution and silicate weathering with local sulfide oxidation were involved in water–rock interaction. D-O isotopes indicated the recharge source was mainly derived from atmosphere precipitation. The entropy-weighted water quality index indicated surface water and groundwater reach the standard of drinking purpose in the lower reaches of the Yarlung-Zangbo River. The hydrochemical type varied regularly along the Yarlung-Zangbo River. The dissolution of carbonate rocks and local silicate weather and evaporate dissolution are the primary hydrochemical process along the Yarlung-Zangbo River. This study would provide a preliminary insight for hydrochemical process in the Yarlung-Zangbo River.

Yarlung Zangbo River is one of the most important rivers in the southwest river source area, it is the longest plateau river in China, the cradle of the birth and development of Tibet civilization, and also an international water system. It is of great significance to study its water resources utilization and water environment protection. This paper compared different river extraction methods, including the normalized difference water index, multi-band spectral correlation threshold method, maximum likelihood classification method and object-oriented classification method, based on Landsat images, and combined with remote sensing and GIS technologies. The study area is Yarlung Zangbo River, one of the main rivers in southwest river source region. Meanwhile, river changes have been analysed based on upstream and midstream of Yarlung Zangbo River extracting results of four images in different periods. The result shows that object-oriented classification method has advantage of removing mountain shadow, its accuracy of river extraction is the highest, and Yarlung Zangbo River area shows a decreasing trend from 2000 to 2016, and there are some changes of watercourse in midstream as well.

AbstractAlong the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, scattered alluvium sections appear on T1 and T2 terraces. The alluvial deposits on the T1 terrace in Linduo and Ximogou and the T2 terrace in Guoguotang are composed principally of coarse-grained sand particles and rock fragments, with no observable fine-grained components. The T1 terrace alluvium section is dominated by clay and silt and occurs near the town of Dexing, and optically stimulated luminescence dating of sample from this site revealed an age of 18.2 kyear, which indicates that the incision rate of the Yarlung Zangbo River has been 4.7 mm/year since the formation of this section. On the basis of the component characteristics of terraces in Motuo County, the provenance for the terraces is probably related to the breaking of the palaeo-dammed lakes in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. A 430 m elevation difference still exists between the study area and the local base level downstream of the Yalung Zangbo River (Assam Plain), although this river has a strong incision capability (4.7 mm/year), which suggests that tectonic uplift remains very intense east of the Namche Barwa syntaxis.

Abstract. The Yarlung Zangbo River Basin is located in the southwest border of China, which is of great significance to the socioeconomic development and ecological environment of Southwest China. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is an important index for investigating the change of vegetation cover, which is widely used as the representation value of vegetation cover. In this study, the NDVI is adopted to explore the vegetation condition in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin during the recent 17 years, and the relationship between NDVI and meteorological variables has also been discussed. The results show that the annual maximum value of NDVI usually appears from July to September, in which August occupies a large proportion. The minimum value of NDVI appears from January to March, in which February takes up most of the percentage. The higher values of NDVI are generally located in the lower elevation area. When the altitude is higher than 3250 m, NDVI began to decline gradually, and the NDVI became gradual stabilization as the elevation is up to 6000 m. The correlation coefficient between NDVI and precipitation in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin is greater than that with temperature. The Hurst index of the whole basin is 0.51, indicating that the NDVI of the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin shows a weak sustainability.

The character of Adam Chmielowski St. Brother Albert in the film Our God’s brother directed by Krzysztof Zanussi The film Our God’s Brother, directed by Krzysztof Zanussi in 1997, is the adaptation of Karol Wojtyła’s drama of the same title. Adam Chmielowski, who was later known as St. Brother Albert, is the main character in the film. He lived between 1845 and 1916 in the times of the industrial revolution, which led many people to misery. Brother Albert was an artist and painter by profession. Feeling that he was called by God, he decided to give up painting and he started helping the homeless. In his film, Krzysztof Zanussi shows Brother Albert’s path to holiness and the roots of his heroism. The article consists of five points. The first one focuses on the characteristics and structure of the film. The second one briefly shows the story of Adam Chmielowski’s life. In the third part the play by Karol Wojtyła entitled Our God’s Brother is described. The fourth part shows how Krzysztof Zanussi adapted the play into a film, and it also presents a film portrayal of St. Brother Albert. Finally, the conclusion shows the essence of the main character’s holiness. The film can be divided into two parts. In the first one Adam Chmielowski discerns his vocation. In the second one, after his decision to serve the homeless, his vocation develops and he becomes a friar. His service is based on his trust to the Creator and him following merciful Christ. It leads to the fullness of his humanity, freedom and happiness.

The key to surviving in a global market is to focus on quality of service to customers. Every organization should focus on providing quality service to its customers. ZANACO Bank has implemented several service quality features and systems such as: B. changing the interior design of bank buildings, investing in technologies and bringing services closer to customers through ZANACO express agents, mobile banking and opening new branches. Therefore, the study examined the impact of service quality on customer satisfaction using ZANACO Bank as an example. A survey of 397 customers of ZANACO Bank was conducted at the main branch in Lusaka. The study used descriptive and causal designs. The study analyzed the data by determining frequencies, percentages, and means, and the study used Spearman correlation analysis to determine the effect. The study found that the service quality attributes important to bank customers were prompt customer support, politeness of bank employees, accuracy of bank transactions, security of banking services, customer support, convenient business hours, reliability of banking services and affordability (cost) of services. The study found that banks' responsiveness, accuracy, reliability and empathy have a significant impact on customer satisfaction, while tangible attributes have little or no impact on customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction had a strong positive effect on customer loyalty, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9264, statistically significant at a p-value of 0.0001. The study therefore recommended that: Banks should focus more on reliability, security, empathy and responsiveness to increase customer satisfaction; Offering incentives such as reducing bank fees; and the use of customer loyalty programs to remain competitive.

Red-flesh apples are known as functional fruits because of their rich anthocyanin. The anthocyanin content of the red flesh apple cultivar ′QN-5′ we bred can reach 361 mg·kg−1 (FW), and showed higher scavenging capacity to DPPH radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and superoxide anion radicals, with scavenging rates of 80.0%, 54.0%, and 43.3%, respectively. We used this particular anthocyanin-rich ′QN-5′ apple as material to examine how nanocrystallization affects the antixodiant effect of anthocyanin. The anthocyanin extract was encapsulated with biocompatible zein to form zein-anthocyanin nanoparticles (ZANPs). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) scanning showed that ZANPs had a regular spherical shape with an average diameter size of 50–60nm. When the ratio of the zein and the anthocyanin was 1:0.5, the results suggested that the encapsulation efficiency (EE) of the ZANPs could reach as high as 92.8%, and that scavenging rate for DPPH radicals was increased from 87.1% to 97.2% compared to the non-nanocrystallized anthocyanin extract. Interestingly, treatment under alkaline conditions (pH 9.0), high temperature (90 °C), and a storage time of 7 days could decrease the scavenging capacity of the ZANPs for DPPH radicals, but this scavenging capacity loss for ZANPs was significantly lower than that observed in the non-nanocrystallized anthocyanin, suggesting the higher stability of ZANPs is caused by encapsulation. These results would provide a theoretical basis for the application of the anthocyanin in scavenging free radicals under stress conditions.

Sophora moorcroftiana is a perennial leguminous low shrub endemic to the Yarlung Zangbo River basin in Tibet with irreplaceable economic and ecological value. To determine the drivers of evolution in this species, 225 individuals belonging to 15 populations from different geographic locations were sampled, and population genetics was studied using high-throughput genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS). Based on genetic diversity analysis, phylogenetic analysis, principal component analysis, and structure analysis, 15 natural populations were clustered into the following five subgroups: subgroup I (Shigatse subgroup) was located in the upper reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River with a relatively high level of population genetic variation (means for PIC, Shannon and PI were 0.173, 0.326 and 0.0000305, respectively), and gene flow within the subgroup was also high (mean value for Nm was 4.67). Subgroup II (including Pop 7 and Pop 8; means for PIC, Shannon and PI were 0.182, 0.345 and 0.0000321, respectively), located in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River had relatively high levels of gene flow with the populations distributed in the upper and lower reaches. The Nm between subgroup II with subgroups I and III was 3.271 and 2.894, respectively. Considering all the genetic diversity indices Pop 8 had relatively high genetic diversity. Subgroup III (the remaining mixed subgroup of Lhasa and Shannan) was located in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River and the means for PIC, Shannon and PI were 0.172, 0.324 and 0.0000303, respectively. Subgroup IV (Nyingchi subgroup), located in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River basin, showed a further genetic distance from the other subgroups and the means for PIC, Shannon and PI were 0.147, 0.277 and 0.0000263, respectively. Subgroup V (Nyingchi Gongbu Jiangda subgroup), located in the upper reaches of the Niyang River, had the lowest level of genetic variation (means for PIC, Shannon and PI were 0.106, 0.198 and 0.0000187, respectively) and gene flow with other populations (mean value for Nm was 0.42). According to the comprehensive analysis, the S. moorcroftiana populations generally expanded from upstream to downstream and displayed a high level of genetic differentiation in the populations in the upper and lower reaches. There were high levels of gene exchange between the central populations with upstream and downstream populations, and wind-induced seed dispersal was an important factor in the formation of this gene exchange mode.

The Yarlung Zangbo River is rich in water resources, which is of great significance to the comprehensive utilization of water resources. The reasonable development of the hydropower resources of the Yarlung Zangbo River is realized, through the water diversion project and the establishment of the trapezoidal hydropower station. A comprehensive utilization model of hydropower resources optimized by discrete objectives is constructed, based on the discrete multi-objective optimization theory. It combined with the reading of geographic data by GPS and Matlab. The number and orientation of the optimal construction of hydropower stations and the proportion of the water transfer volume of the water diversion project are obtained, combining the cost of hydropower station construction and water diversion project implementation and the benefits brought by hydropower resources.

Global warming significantly affects plateau glaciers and surface runoff, and fish are bound to be severely affected. Additionally, an increasing number of human activities (e.g., free captive animals, aquaculture) have led to vulnerable plateau ecosystems being affected by invasive species. To address the above issues, we collected the currently published fish distribution data, and for the first time constructed a richness and fluvial system distribution map of the Yarlung Zangbo River fish (4 orders, 10 families, and 61 species). Based on fish richness and the fluvial system, the native fish in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin were divided into three clusters, and the non-native fish were divided into six clusters by using Ward’s minimum variance clustering and non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS). Environmental factors related to native or non-native fish richness were selected by the random forest model from 21 environmental factors. Then, the relationship between fish richness and environmental factors was explained by the generalized linear model (GLM). Our results showed that the native fish distribution pattern was different from the non-native fish distribution, but their high richness areas were overlapped. Furthermore, native fish richness responds differently than non-native fish richness to environmental factors. The results provided eco-solutions for the conservation and management of fish biodiversity and natural resources in the Yarlung Zangbo River.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, the economic development of Tibet has been accelerating. The Yarlung Zangbo River and its two tributaries, as the region with the largest population concentration and the fastest economic development in Tibet, has been under the dual influence of global climate warming and the intensification of human social and economic activities, where a high number of land types, such as woodland, grassland, and water areas, have been transformed into other land types, and the residential area has expanded in a disorderly manner. The ability to maintain sustainable regional development has been severely damaged. To meet the requirements of different stages of social and economic development and regional social development goals, in this study, we use the Yarlung Zangbo River and its two tributaries of Tibet as an example. Based on the Markov–PLUS model and considering the natural, social, and cultural conditions of the basin, combined with the multi-landscape simulation of land use, we predict the land use situation of the Yarlung Zangbo River and its two tributaries of Tibet in 2038. We observed the following: (i) the Markov–PLUS model has a high simulation accuracy for different land types in the study area, and can sufficiently simulate the changes in different land types in the Yarlung Zangbo River and its two tributaries of Tibet; and (ii) the simulation settings of the three landscapes basically meet the different development modes and paths of the basin in the future. There were obvious differences in the structure of land use in the basin, among which there were obvious differences, especially agricultural land and water areas. Use of the Markov–PLUS model can provide data support and references for the implementation in terms of ecological scrutiny, landscape planning, and early warnings for food production consumption security and unreasonable land use, in order to achieve the sustainable development of the basin.

Vegetation coverage variation may influence watershed water balance and water resource availability. Yarlung Zangbo River, the longest river on the Tibetan Plateau, has high spatial heterogeneity in vegetation coverage and is the main freshwater resource of local residents and downstream countries. In this study, we proposed a model based on random forest (RF) to predict the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) of the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin and explore its relationship with climatic factors. High-resolution datasets of NDVI and monthly meteorological observation data from 2000 to 2015 were used to calibrate and validate the proposed model. The proposed model was then compared with artificial neural network and support vector machine models, and principal component analysis and partial correlation analysis were also used for predictor selection of artificial neural network and support vector machine models for comparative study. The results show that RF had the highest model efficiency among the compared models. The Nash–Sutcliffe coefficients of the proposed model in the calibration period and verification period were all higher than 0.8 for the five subzones; this indicated that the proposed model can successfully simulate the relationship between the NDVI and climatic factors. By using built-in variable importance evaluation, RF chose appropriate predictor combinations without principle component analysis or partial correlation analysis. Our research is valuable because it can be integrated into water resource management and elucidates ecological processes in Yarlung Zangbo River Basin.

The Yarlung Zangbo River basin ecosystem is fragile. The distribution and transportation of phosphorus is of great significance for aquatic environmental protection and ecological security. The sequential extraction method and molybdenum antimony anti-spectrophotometry were used to measure the concentrations of different forms of phosphorus in the surface sediments from 15 sampling sites along the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River and its tributaries. The results show that the total phosphorus concentration in the surface sediments is 194.0~540.7 mg/kg, which is mainly composed of inorganic phosphorus. The concentrations of various phosphorus forms ranked as calcium-bound phosphorus (355.6 ± 86.0 mg/kg) > soluble phosphorus (15.9 ± 10.0 mg/kg) > iron-bound phosphorus (12.4 ± 12.3 mg/kg) > organic phosphorus (9.6 ± 6.1 mg/kg) > occluded phosphorus (9.2 ± 3.8 mg/kg) > aluminum-bound phosphorus (5.4 ± 2.3 mg/kg). On the whole, phosphorus concentration is greater in wet season than dry season. Regarding the spatial distribution characteristics, there are great disparities in the different forms of phosphorus in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. Comprehensive analysis shows that phosphorus of this area is mainly self-generated, and concentration of bioavailable phosphorus is small, demonstrating there will not be a large release. We also drew a “specific triangle” of the different forms of phosphorus concentrations in the research area and defined the “α” angle to determine the nutrient status of the overlying water quickly and effectively. Finally, phosphorus flux of the mainstream was estimated. This research may provide information on the phosphorus of Plateau Rivers.

High accuracy, high spatial resolution precipitation data is important for understanding basin-scale hydrology and the spatiotemporal distributions of regional precipitation. The objective of this study was to develop a reliable statistical downscaling algorithm to produce high quality, high spatial resolution precipitation products from Tropical Rainfall Monitoring Mission (TRMM) 3B43 data over the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin using an optimal subset regression (OSR) model combined with multiple topographical factors, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), and observational data from rain gauge stations. After downscaling, the bias between TRMM 3B43 and rain gauge data decreased considerably from 0.397 to 0.109, the root-mean-square error decreased from 235.16 to 124.60 mm, and the r2 increased from 0.54 to 0.61, indicating significant improvement in the spatial resolution and accuracy of the TRMM 3B43 data. Moreover, the spatial patterns of both precipitation rates of change and their corresponding p value statistics were consistent between the downscaled results and the original TRMM 3B43 during the 2001–2014 period, which verifies that the downscaling method performed well in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin. Its high performance in downscaling precipitation was also proven by comparing with other models. All of these findings indicate that the proposed approach greatly improved the quality and spatial resolution of TRMM 3B43 rainfall products in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin, for which rain gauge data is limited. The potential of the post-real-time Integrated Multi-satellite Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement (IMERG) downscaled precipitation product was also demonstrated in this study.

Reproductive characteristics of Pseudecheneis sulcatus, including their maturation age, fertility, spawning season, and maximum body size, constitute important aspects of its life-history traits. We collected a total of 310 specimens from the Yarlung Zangbo River’s Motuo reach between March and November 2016 and found the male-to-female ratio to be 0.73:1, markedly different from the anticipated 1:1. The total length of individuals ranged from 72 to 207 mm, while overall weight ranged from 2.5 to 65.0 g. Their length at first maturity was estimated as 131 mm in males and 132 mm in females. Based on the adult proportion and fluctuation in the monthly gonadosomatic index (GSI) and size distribution of oocytes, spawning was determined to occur from March to June. The absolute fecundity ranged between 247 and 2886 eggs, while the fluctuation in average relative fertility ranged between 16.8 and 77.1 eggs/g of fish. The fecundity of P. sulcatus was linearly correlated to the overall weight and length of the fish along with the ovarian weight. In conclusion, P. sulcatus spawned synchronously in spring and early summer, exhibiting low fecundity and large oocytes. Our results provided basic information in understanding how this species adapted well to the unique canyon environment, which may be useful for developing a sustainable conservation plan for P. sulcatus at the lower reach of the Yarlung Zangbo River.

Grains account for a large proportion of the diet of rural residents in Tibet. The lack of selenium (Se) and zinc (Zn) threatens the population’s nutrition and health. However, the intakes of selenium and zinc in grains remains unclear. To clarify the nutritional status of selenium and zinc consumed from staple grains of residents along the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet, 341 grain samples and 242 urine samples were collected, and 244 food frequency questionnaires were completed along the Yarlung Zangbo River in 2020–2021. The results showed that the selenium concentrations of 88.5% of self-produced tsampa and 80.8% of self-produced flour were lower than the grain selenium threshold (<25 μg·kg−1). The intake of selenium and zinc from staple grains (tsampa, flour, and rice) contributed 15.0% and 43.5% to the recommended nutrient intake (RNI) on average, respectively. A geographical detector model analyzed factors affecting urinary selenium and zinc levels. Selenium and zinc intakes in rice and flour, and dietary diversity score (DDS) were the main factors affecting urinary selenium and zinc (p < 0.01). Their interaction effects on urinary selenium and zinc were greater than those of a single factor. The staple grains of rural residents along the Yarlung Zangbo River were in a state of selenium deficiency. The zinc content of the staple grain purchased was lower than that of the main grain produced by rural residents. Changing the grain consumption pattern and adjusting the proportion of exogenous grains can improve selenium and zinc nutrition in residents.

El "chinche zancudo" Metacanthus tenellus es un predador con varias especies de plagas como presas en el cultivo de tomate Lycopersicum esculentum: ninfas de mosca blanca Bemisia tabaci, huevos y larvas de la polilla minadora del tomate Tute absoluta y los átidos Myzus persicae y Macrosiphum euphorbiae. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar el efecto de los extractos botánicos neem, la rotenona versus algunos químicos convencionales manejados por el agricultor, sobre la fluctuación poblacional de huevos, ninfas y adultos de M. tenellus en el cultivo de tomate, en el Fundo Tojahuana en el Valle de lea, Perú durante 1997. Las poblaciones de huevos, ninfas y adultos-del "Chinche zancudo" se incrementaron durante la floración del tomate. La rotenona no afectó a los tres estadios evaluados de M. tenellus, el neem presentó un ligero efecto sobre este biocontrolador y los mayores efectos negativos se observaron con los químicos convencionales empleados rotativamente.

All businesses regardless of the nature require profitability for them to progress. Therefore, this thesis is aimed at assessing Zanaco’s profitability using ratio analysis, through three major objectives (i) To ascertain Zambia National Commercial Bank’s ability to generate return to its shareholders during the period 2016-2021. (ii) To determine Zambia National Commercial Bank’s ability to convert sales into profit during the period 2016-2021. (iii) To identify internal factors influencing Zambia National Commercial Bank’s ability to generate profit and returns to its shareholders during the period 2016-2021. The study used both primary and secondary information. Primary information was collected through structured questionnaires. Data analysis was done through SPSS V26 for primary data and excel for secondary data for the period 2016 – 2021, the response rate of primary data collection which was physically administered to Zanaco employees was 35 respondents indicating a 65%. Secondary data was collected through the analysis of Zanaco’s financial statements for the period 2016-2021. The findings review that the profitability ratios show that the bank has a stable ROA, and ROE, but low EPS and ROCE. The Low NPM below 30% for the years under review thus implying that Zanaco is minimally profitable, because of Zanaco’s high Expense operational ratios EOR. Zanaco bank is liquid as it is able to convert its assets to cash easily, but does not have enough cash flow. Additionally, the bank is affected, by inflation and macro-economic factors, however due to the bank size, capital, asset quality, credit rating and effective cost management strategies the bank is able to withstand turbulent economic impacts.

The effect of the freeze-thaw process is an important factor in soil nutrient changes and erosion enhancement. Sediments in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River are likely affected by the daily freeze-thaw cycles in winter. Examining the freeze-thaw effects of phosphorus from sediments in this area is of great significance for protecting the structure and safety of the ecosystem. The freeze-thaw process of sediments in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River was simulated through laboratory experiments, and different phosphorus contents and particle states were synchronously detected and analyzed. The results show that freeze-thaw cycles can accelerate phosphorus migration and release in the sediments, and the total amount of phosphorus release increases by 12%. After being subjected to freeze-thaw cycles, the sediment particles were broken, and the competition between ions for adsorption sites reduced phosphorus adsorption onto the sediments from the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. The organic matter on the sediment surface was also broken down, and the energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) results showed that the combined ions that were released competed for the adsorption sites on the particle surfaces, thereby promoting phosphorus release. Among the different forms of phosphorus, aluminum-bound phosphorus (Al-P) and iron-bound phosphorus (Fe-P) are the two most released phosphorus forms by the freeze-thaw process. Although the contents of Al-P and Fe-P only account for 2.41% of the total phosphorus content, both phosphorus forms are biologically available, and freeze-thaw cycles may increase the risk of nutrient loss. This research may provide information for the study of phosphorus in river ecosystems in areas subjected to freeze-thaw cycles.

O objetivo do presente trabalho foi observar o desenvolvimento das colmeias, por meio do fornecimento da alimentação artificial para as mesmas e realizar a contagem de alvéolos de zangão, obreira, pólen e larvas. Os tratamentos experimentais foram: 1) xarope de açúcar; 2) xarope de açúcar e mel; 3) xarope proteico; 4) xarope invertido; 5) alimento pastoso. Os tratamentos foram distribuídos em delineamento em quadrado latino (5x5) com a utilização de 5 colmeias e 5 repetições geradas no tempo. Cada colmeia recebeu o tratamento durante o período de 21 dias e após esse período as colmeias permaneciam 15 dias sem o fornecimento de nenhum tratamento. Foram selecionados dois quadros de cada ninho, para a realização da contagem dos alvéolos, utilizando fotografias sobrepostas em quadro de mapeamento constituído de áreas de 4cm2.Conclui-se que os tratamentos fornecidos não influenciaram na produção de alvéolos de zangão e obreira. O tratamento com xarope proteico influenciou no aumento do número de alvéolos de larvas e o tratamento com xarope de açúcar e mel foi significativo para a produção de alvéolos de pólen.

The Yarlung Zangbo River is the largest river on the Tibetan Plateau and a major international river in South Asia. Changes in the blue and green water resources in its basin are of great importance to the surrounding local and Asian regions in the context of global warming. This research used the Soil and Water Assessment Tool model to estimate blue and green flows (BWF and GWF) and analyze the spatial-temporal distribution characteristics under different hypothetical climate change scenarios. The results show that (1) the multi-year average BWF in the middle and upper reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin is 176.2 mm, the GWF is 213.1 mm, and the difference between precipitation and total water resources is only 5.4 mm; (2) both BWF and GWF in this basin showed a slightly increasing trend from 1980 to 2010, but the distribution of subbasins from upstream to downstream is decreasing; and (3) GWF has a positive correlation with both precipitation and temperature, but BWF only increases with precipitation and decreases with increasing temperature. Moreover, the change in blue and green water resources is more sensitive to the changes in precipitation than to changes in the temperature.

O presente estudo teve o objetivo de verificar a influência de diferentes cores e materiais de cobertura em colmeias Langstroth analisando o desenvolvimento das abelhas melíferas (Apis mellifera). O experimento foi conduzido em um apiário experimental, em Petrolina (Pernambuco, Brasil). Foram utilizadas 24 colmeias, dispostas em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 3 x 2 (três cores e dois tipos de cobertura). O desenvolvimento das colônias foi analisado através de um mapeamento dos quadros de ninho e mensurações da temperatura interna das colmeias, em seguida, realizou-se a contagem de área contendo mel, pólen, crias de operária (fechadas e abertas) e crias de zangão. Os resultados indicam que em colmeias tradicionais (não pintadas) ou pintadas de branco, com e sem a placa de gesso sob sua tampa, há um maior armazenamento de pólen e mel, além da maior área com crias de abelhas operárias. Já em caixas Langstroth pintadas de azul, há um aumento da temperatura interna na colmeia, com uma maior área de crias de zangão. Dessa forma, manter as colmeias com cores claras e protegê-las com gesso é uma alternativa para evitar o aumento excessivo da temperatura interna nas colmeias.

The middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River are a hot zone of the Alpine Water System and its ecological environment is diverse but vulnerable. We systematically examined and detailed the phytoplankton community’s composition, spatial-temporal dynamics, and driving factors in this area. A total of 224 samples from 28 sampling sites across wet and dry seasons were analyzed. The results showed that: (1) the community structure of the main stream is more complex and stable than that of the tributaries; (2) the number of species, average cell abundance, and average biomass in the main stream were higher than those in the tributaries; (3) TN, TUR, WT, and pH were the main influencing factors for the difference in the phytoplankton community’s structure between the main stream and the tributaries; (4) the phytoplankton community had a closer structure, higher connectivity, stronger resistance to environmental disturbance, and higher stability in the main stream, while those in the tributaries had higher interspecific synergy; and (5) the phytoplankton community’s assembly process in the main stream was mainly influenced by random processes and was mainly driven by dispersal limitation in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River.
