A reutilização de softwares ou componentes preexistentes é uma abordagem que pode ser utilizada no processo de desenvolvimento com o intuito de aumentar a confiança, reduzir os riscos e prazos. Nesse contexto, web services são considerados componentes com uma alta possibilidade de reusabilidade, todavia, seu processo de implementação deve ser orientado à reusabilidade, possibilitando assim, sua inclusão em um processo de desenvolvimento orientado ao reuso. Sendo assim, o presente trabalho visa investigar através da revisão bibliográfica, a relação entre o desenvolvimento de web services reusáveis com o processo de desenvolvimento orientado ao reuso. Concluiu-se que o processo de desenvolvimento de web services pode ser conduzido através da engenharia de serviços. Ao estabelecer atividades responsáveis pela projeção de serviços reusáveis, haverá a disponibilização de mais componentes reutilizáveis. Portanto, ao oferecer uma quantidade grande de componentes reutilizáveis, há um estímulo para utilizar-se de abordagens de desenvolvimento orientadas ao reuso.

Cloud computing has many advantages and is being used increasingly as an efficient and safe solution for web based services. This on-demnd self-service provides network access to a shared pooi of redundant computing resources. Software applications are being developed in the cloud and there are demands for the interoperability of these applications. A common way to meet this demand is the development of Web services (applications), taking advantage of Service-oriented architecture principles. These loosely coupled Web base components pose some security challenges. This paper examines Security as a Service (SECaaS) solutions, as well to propose a new approach to security management in the cloud.

Many experts would agree that, had it not been for telephony, the construction of B-trees might never have occurred. Given the current status of random theory, information theorists urgently desire the unfortunate unification of virtual machines and voice-over-IP, which embodies the unproven principles of robotics. We show that even though voice-over-IP and e-commerce can collaborate to achieve this goal, courseware and Internet QoS can synchronize to realize this mission.

The CCP4 software suite [1] provides a comprehensive set of tools for use in the macromolecule structure solution process by X-ray crystallography. Traditionally, these tools have been run through the graphical interface or the command line on each user's personal workstation. Recently, some of the tools, including the molecular replacement pipelines Balbes [2] and MrBUMP [3] have been provided as web services in the Research Complex at Harwell. These pipelines can be especially useful in cases where there is low sequence identity between the target-structure sequence and that of its set of possible homologues. These services can be accessed through a web client, allowing one to submit molecular replacement jobs to our Linux cluster and view the results from these jobs. The molecular replacement pipelines are ideal candidates for web services, as they require installation and maintenance of large databases and benefit from parallel computing resources, provided by the cluster. Further plans for web services will be discussed. With ever-increasing mobility of scientific setups and the ubiquity of ultra-portable devices, there is a demand for a consistent framework of remote crystallographic computations and data maintenance. This framework is planned to include an interface for synchronising data with the facilities of Diamond Light Source, as well as with local CCP4 GUI-2 setups.

Several systems integration proposals have been suggested over the years. However these proposals have mainly focused on data integration, not allowing users to take advantage of services offered by Web portals. Most of the mentioned proposals only provide a set of design principles to build integrated systems and lack in suggesting a systematic way of how to develop systems based on the integration architecture they propose. In previous work we have developed PISA (Web Portal Integration Architecture)—a Web portal integration architecture for data and services—and MIDAS-S, a methodological approach for the development of integrated Web portals, built according to PISA. This work shows, by means of a case study, how both proposals fit together integrating Web portals.
