Resumo:

This study aimed to build a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) User Location Detection Application and address information security for the public if they receive attention from unknown or undesired people. This application displays a map or location of people who communicate with others via mobile phones. The Application Development Methodology used the Iteration Method appeared in the database. Application testing used the black-box testing method, and the test results ran according to the expected function. The final result of this research was a telephone application that functioned by displaying a map on the phone screen of the call’s receiver. Therefore, without being asked, when the recipient picks up the phone, they connect to the map -in case something unwanted happens or when the callers merely want to exchange information with each other.

Resumo:

Abstract Despite the growing importance of packet switching systems, there is still a shortage of thorough analyses of VoIP transmission effect on speech and speaker recognition performance. Voice over IP transmission systems use packet switching. There is no guarantee of delivery. The main disadvantage of VoIP is a packet loss which has a major impact on the performance experienced by the users of the network. There are several techniques to mask the effects of a packet loss, referred to as packet loss concealment. In this study, the effect of voice transmission over IP on automatic speaker verification system performance was investigated. The analyzed system was based on MAP-EM-GMM modelling methods. Four various speech codecs of H.323 standard were investigated with special emphasis placed on the packet loss phenomenon and various packet loss concealment techniques.

L’articolo ha l’obiettivo di mettere in luce potenzialità e criticità dell’inclusione della prospettiva dei pazienti nella ricerca sulle malattie rare e sui farmaci orfani. A tal fine, nella prima parte, si propone un’analisi epistemologica dell’utilizzo dei racconti dell’esperienza individuale della malattia nella ricerca scientifica e nei trial clinici, facendo emergere, anche attraverso gli strumenti della medicina narrativa, le sfide teoriche e operative poste dall’inclusione della soggettività del paziente e del vissuto di malattia nonché l’importanza della valorizzazione della prospettiva del paziente, sia in generale sia nella ricerca sulle malattie rare e sui farmaci orfani. Nella seconda parte, il testo analizza in particolare il ruolo degli esiti riportati dai pazienti o Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs), misure per la valutazione complessiva della salute basate sulla prospettiva dei pazienti stessi, incentrandosi sulla sperimentazione clinica nel campo delle malattie rare. In questo contesto, infatti, i racconti di malattia, raccolti e valorizzati da fonti istituzionali e associazioni di pazienti, hanno contribuito a far emergere importanti questioni critiche e difficoltà nell’impiego di outcome centrati sul paziente nello sviluppo di nuovi farmaci e trattamenti, generando una serie di documenti e raccomandazioni relative al loro utilizzo per il benessere della comunità dei malati rari. ---------- This paper aims to highlight the potentiality and criticality of including patients’ perspective in rare diseases and orphan drugs research. In the first part, we propose an epistemological analysis of individual narrations of disease experience as they are used in scientific research and clinical trials. With the help of narrative medicine approach, this analysis points out theoretical and operational challenges of a perspective that includes patient’s subjectivity and illness experience. Furthermore, it reveals the significance of patients’ standpoints in general and in rare diseases as well as in the orphan drugs research. The second part of our article focuses on the role of the Patient reported Outcomes (PROs) – which are measures for the health’s overall assessment based on patient’s perspective – by investigating the impact on clinical trials for rare diseases. In this context, illness stories, which are collected and promoted by institutional sources and patients’ associations, contribute to underline important critical issues at stake in the employment of patient-centered outcomes both in new drugs and in the treatments development. Moreover, these stories are crucial to elaborate documents and recommendations concerning the use of PROs for the rare patients’ community welfare.

Resumo:

As indicated by the title of the book, this volume presents a variety of definitions of and approaches toward the concept of voice in medieval literature, with greatest but not exclusive focus on medieval English literature. The volume’s Introduction gives a useful overview of the numerous debates and sub-themes affiliated with the concept of voice in Medieval Studies. These include the link between voice and humanity, spirituality and textuality that has been promoted since antiquity and throughout the Middle Ages; the polyphony and multiplicity of voices available in literature; voice, gender and identity; voice and performativity, and thus authority; inner voices from the divine or the past; articulate and inarticulate voices; voice and music; silence and pauses as integral part of voice; externalized voices in the manuscripts; vox between orality and textuality. The editors, Louise D’Arcens and Sif Ríkharðsdóttir, state that the book does not aim to “foster an inclusive and explanatory range of perspectives” (8), but that it rather spans widely and freely from Augustine, Aristotle and Boethius, through several medieval traditions, to early modern voice-actualizations, and uses voice as a critical concept to discuss topic as selfhood, embodiment, and authority.

Introduction: In an age of increasingly face-to-face, blended, and online Health Professions Education, students have more choices of institutions at which to study their degree. For an applicant, oftentimes, the first step is to learn more about a program through its website. Websites allow programs to convey their unique voice and to share their mission and values with others such as applicants, researchers, and academics. Additionally, as the number of health professions education (HPE) programs rapidly grows, websites can share the priorities of these programs. Methods: In this study, we conducted a website review of 158 HPE websites to explore their geographical distributions, missions, educational concentrations, and various programmatic components. Results: We compiled this information and synthesized pertinent aspects, such as program similarities and differences, or highlighted the omission of critical data. Conclusions: Given that websites are often the first point of contact for prospective applicants, curious collaborators, and potential faculty, the digital image of HPE programs matters. We believe our findings demonstrate opportunities for growth within institutions and assist the field in identifying the priorities of HPE programs. As programs begin to shape their websites with more intentionality, they can reflect their relative divergence/convergence compared to other programs as they see fit and, therefore, attract individuals to best match this identity. Periodic reviews of the breadth of programs, such as those undergone here, are necessary to capture diversifying goals, and serves to help advance the field of HPE as a whole.

Background Collaborative patient centred practice is an expectation of the Australian healthcare system, yet there is not a clear understanding of what this entails. The aim of this research was to describe collaborative practice, as understood within the context of the Australian health system. Methods Nineteen focus groups were conducted in 2022 with 84 participants consisting of education providers (n=62), consumers (n=10), representatives from the Health Profession’s Education Standing Group (n=8), and health service practitioners (n=4). Framework analysis was undertaken to understand facilitators of, and barriers to, collaborative practice and learning within the Australian education and healthcare systems. Results Participants were asked to describe examples of effective collaborative practice, what they would expect to experience, and examples of when collaborative practice did not occur and the associated outcomes. Participants from all groups emphasised the importance of elevating the patient voice within a patient centred collaborative healthcare team. Patients, family and carers needed to be positioned as central team members within a collaborative healthcare team. Power and hierarchy within the healthcare team impacted on the ability to deliver collaborative practice. Conclusions By positioning the patient and their family and carers as members of the team, shared goals for optimal patient outcomes were experienced. By contrast when collaborative practice did not occur, or patients were omitted as central team members, poor communication and disjointed healthcare was described, leaving patients feeling disempowered and disengaged.

The purpose of this paper is to present a comparison of mouse, keyboard and voice inputs to a complex map database query system. The system, developed at FOA 53 in Linköping, Sweden, is a multi-purpose one; the particular application involved here is one developed for monitoring water traffic on Lake Vättern. In a 4 − 2 within-subjects design, throughput was measured for mouse, keyboard, voice-english, and voice-swedish queries, both pre-composed and user-composed. An error analysis was also conducted. Results of the pilot study indicated that while voice was superior for pre-composed query entry, it was not necessarily superior for the entry of user-composed ones. System changes designed to improve performance in the voice and mouse input modes are discussed.

In this paper, the cat map and the chaotic map are analyzed, and a key variable algorithm which combines chaotic map and cat map is proposed. What’s more, a variable key encryption system processes combined with the voice preprocessing is put forward. The simulation results show that the algorithm has a good voice encryption security features.

Resumo:

Good journalism remains central to the needs of the Pacific and her people. Good journalism education is central to this issue of Pacific Journalism Review, which features a selection of papers on journalism education in the Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. Drawn mostly from the papers presented to the Fourth World Journalism Education Congress (WJEC16), and the preconference organised by the Journalism Education and Research Association of Australia (JERAA) and the Pacific Media Centre with the Media Educators Pacific (MeP) at the Auckland University of Technology in July, they all reflect the importance of good journalism and good journalism education. Speaking at the opening of the preconference, University of Auckland Associate Professor Toeolesulusulu Damon Salesa said the profession was vital for bringing the Pacific community together. Dr Salesa, director of the newly founded New Zealand Institute for Pacific Research, which sponsored five Pacific media educators to attend the conferences, said journalism helped people engage in the public sphere.

Resumo:

Route map based on car navigation, multi-point navigation of the same area in different locations and voice navigation with voice broadcast was studied. Achieved an overall system with car navigation map information distribution and voice broadcast using GPS positioning methods MapXtreme technology and improved ant colony optimization based on occasional algorithm. The system solved navigation problems of the shortest path between two points, the shortest time, the optimal K paths and multi-point route planning, as well as the voice-based navigation problems. The whole system worked well and could meet the travel navigation requirements of travelers and relevant departments.

Resumo:

La fracture énucléation du deuxième cunéiforme est une lésion rare, considérée comme une variété de la luxation de l’articulation tarsométatarsienne de Lisfranc. Nous en décrivons un cas, survenant chez un patient de 25 ans, suite à un accident de la voie publique. Le patient a bénéficié d’un bilan radiologique qui a permis une bonne analyse des lésions traumatiques ainsi qu’une planification adaptée quant au traitement chirurgical. L’acte opératoire a consisté en une réduction de la luxation et l’aménagement des lésions associées par ostéosynthèse. Le patient a présenté une bonne évolution clinique et radiologique ainsi qu’une reprise normale des activités quotidiennes après une période de réhabilitation adaptée.

Resumo:

There are various ways of social communication including writing (WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, etc), calling (mobile phone) and voice recording (record your voice and then send it to the other party), but there are ways to eavesdropping the calls and voice messages, One way to solve this problem is via cryptographic approach. Chaos cryptography build on top of nonlinear dynamics chaotic system has gained some footstep in data security. It provides an alternative to conventional cryptography built on top of mathematical structures. This research focuses on the protection of speech recording by encrypting it with multiple encryption algorithms, including chaotic maps (Logistic Map and Sine Maps).

Resumo:

The passive voice is quite rare in Slovenian due to a tradition that does not recommend its use except in certain types of text. In Slovenian, the passive voice is built with the participle with -n/-t or with se, although the form with se is quite rare. The problem arises when the participle does not express the passive voice but rather the state. There is a rule to distinguish the two meanings: when an active (or passive) construction is being transformed into a passive (or active) construction, the tense and the verbal aspect should not be changed. Based on examples from the corpus, it will be shown that this rule is not always correct.

This paper proposes a new image encryption algorithm. First, time-domain and frequency-domain features of the user’s voice are extracted to generate a voice key. Second, the key is iterated through a chaotic map multiple times to map the key data to the chaotic oscillation region, and, subsequently, the parameters of the oscillation area are used to encrypt the user’s image. Third, at the time of decryption, the user’s latest voice data are re-extracted to generate a new voice key and decrypt the encrypted image. The encrypted image cannot be successfully decrypted if there are differences between the two extracted voices in the time or frequency domain. Finally, the experiments are performed using 80 groups of face images and voice data, all of which pass the encryption and decryption experiments. In addition, various safety tests have been carried out on the algorithm. The key sensitivity of the algorithm is verified by the normalized cross-correlation parameter Cncc. The effective anti-attack ability of the algorithm is verified by measuring the correlation between adjacent pixels, the number of changing pixel rate (NPCR) and the unified averaged changed intensity (UACI). The key space of the proposed algorithm is greater than 2100, and it has good anti-cracking ability.

La crise écologique et environnementale pousse les militants à hausser la voix pour prêter plus d’attention au bienêtre animal. Afin que leur voix soit entendue, ils essayent de passer par le droit afin de légiférer leurs réclamations; ceci en présentant comme argument principal la question de la sensibilité à la douleur chez l’animal. La récente étude, datant de novembre 2021, concernant la «souffrance des crustacés» reconnue par le gouvernement britannique et la présentation d’un projet de loi sur le bien-être animal – projet étayé par la science – afin d’être étendu à ces animaux en sont un bon témoin. En France, l’animal a un statut particulier dans le Code civil, depuis 2015, comme étant un «être doué de sensibilité», statut qui lui confère une protection juridique. En parallèle, les législations soutenant l’Interruption Volontaire de Grossesse évoluent à une vitesse en France où on se heurte au dilemme bioéthique touchant au respect de la vie de l’être humain et au statut juridique du foetus. Cet article vise à répondre à la problématique suivante: est-ce que le foetus humain jouit d’une protection juridique similaire à celle de l’animal tout en basant sur le critère de la «sensibilité à la douleur»? Il s’agit d’une approche comparative à partir des textes législatifs du droit français.

AbstractBackground: CERAMENT™|BONE VOID FILLER is an injectable and moldable ceramic bone substitute material intended for bone voids. The material consists of hydroxyapatite and calcium sulfate hemihydrate. The aim of this study is to present the first long-term results following open curettage of benign bone tumors and tumor-like lesions and void filling with this novel injectable and synthetic bone graft. Methods: Thirty three patients were enrolled into the study between June 2013 and October 2014 .Totally, we treated 24 women and 9 men with a median age of 47 years (range: 22-74). All patients suffered from primary musculoskeletal system disorders (enchondroma 63,6%, giant cell tumor 18%, aneurysmal bone cyst 9%, fibrous dysplasia 9%, Gaucher disease 3%). We performed curettage of pathological lesions, then the bone substitute was administered by means of needle to the void. Results: The average follow-up was 13 months (range: 2-13 months, median 10 months). No metastasis or recurrence had been detected. We received significant clinical improvement relating to VAS, MSTS, and oncological results. Conclusions: The results of our study report that CERAMENT can be successfully used as a bone substitute in patients with various bone diseases, as well as benign bone tumors. CERAMENT can provide an effective and long-term solution for reconstructive procedures following curettage of bone tumors and tumor like lesions.

Purpose of the study. Issues of voice quality and health as the main means of communication are becoming increasingly relevant. The increase in the incidence of chronic laryngitis among patients of different age groups is due to a significant list of etiological factors, including deteriorating environmental conditions, exposure to bad habits, a significant increase in stress levels and the presence of chronic concomitant diseases. In this aspect, it is important to take into account the increasing load on the vocal apparatus, as well as the increasing requirements for voice quality in modern society. Materials and methods. The purpose of this study was to increase the effectiveness of complex conservative treatment of patients with chronic laryngitis as a result of exposure to low-intensity laser radiation on the larynx area. 52 patients with voice disorders were examined and treated and were divided into two groups. The results. In group 1, 24 patients received complex treatment, which included a course of drug inhalations, phonopedagogical correction, and compliance with the voice regime. In group 2, consisting of 28 patients, a similar complex conservative treatment was supplemented with laser therapy for the larynx area. When conducting a comparative analysis of the results of therapy, based on an assessment of the dynamics of patient complaints, data from a videolaryngostroboscopic study and acoustic analysis of the voice, a more pronounced improvement in the clinical and functional state of the larynx was found in patients of the 2nd group. Conclusion. Consequently, the use of low-intensity laser therapy on the larynx area as part of complex conservative treatment of chronic laryngitis helps to achieve a significantly predominant clinical result and improve the quality of life of patients with chronic pathology of the vocal apparatus.

Neural speech decoding-driven brain-computer interface (BCI) or speech-BCI is a novel paradigm for exploring communication restoration for locked-in (fully paralyzed but aware) patients. Speech-BCIs aim to map a direct transformation from neural signals to text or speech, which has the potential for a higher communication rate than the current BCIs. Although recent progress has demonstrated the potential of speech-BCIs from either invasive or non-invasive neural signals, the majority of the systems developed so far still assume knowing the onset and offset of the speech utterances within the continuous neural recordings. This lack of real-time voice/speech activity detection (VAD) is a current obstacle for future applications of neural speech decoding wherein BCI users can have a continuous conversation with other speakers. To address this issue, in this study, we attempted to automatically detect the voice/speech activity directly from the neural signals recorded using magnetoencephalography (MEG). First, we classified the whole segments of pre-speech, speech, and post-speech in the neural signals using a support vector machine (SVM). Second, for continuous prediction, we used a long short-term memory-recurrent neural network (LSTM-RNN) to efficiently decode the voice activity at each time point via its sequential pattern-learning mechanism. Experimental results demonstrated the possibility of real-time VAD directly from the non-invasive neural signals with about 88% accuracy.

MS 6898 [xii cent.], at least) includes a comment which looks like a Galenic aside made parenthetically to himself while dictating. The sentence reads: ἐκεῖθεν οὖν αὐτὰ μεταφέρειν ἐνταῦθα σκοπούμενον ὅτῳ βέλτιον ἐξ αὐτῶν (so MS B, superior to K's ἑαυτῶν) χρῆσθαι, ‘So (I ought) to consider transferring them (namely, my discussion on the treatment of kakokhymia) to here from there (i.e. in the section on prophylaxis in the De san. tuenda) to make better use of them’. The rendering in the new Loeb volume 3, p. 345 is not clear.

With the significant development in communication systems especially in the public channels through which our information travels, there are more increasing in the channels problems. The information security is the important one that should be enhanced. This paper presents a chaos-based speech scrambling system. Chaotic maps have been successfully used for large-scale data encryption such as image, audio and video data, due to their good properties such as pseudo-randomness, sensitivity to changes in initial conditions and system parameters and a periodicity. In this paper a security model based on chaotic system has been designed to be used to encrypt voice signal, chaotic duffing map used for digital Scrambling, each samples of the speech are divided into 8 bits. The simulation results show that the Cpestral Distance Measure (CD) in the proposed system is increased by (4.559) by comparing with the time domain scrambling which is about four times that gives from the analog scrambling. In addition, d<sub>lpc</sub> increased to (4.428) as comparing with time domain. The key space in this proposed is 11.8336*10<sup>64</sup>×range of parameters.

A meta-comparison of link analyses was performed using two eye scanning studies. One study was an analysis of the Etak navigator performed by Antin, Dingus, Hulse and Wierwille, (1990). Antin and his associates compared the Etak system to a paper map control condition and a memorized route baseline condition. The second study was an evaluation of the TravTek system performed by Dingus, McGehee, Hulse, Jahns, Natarajan, Mollenhauer and Fleischman (1995). The TravTek Camera Car Evaluation tested six different navigation conditions (a TravTek visual display of a full, heading-up route map with voice guidance, the same TravTek route map without voice guidance, a TravTek visual display showing a graphic representation of static turn-by-turn information, the same turn-by-turn screens without voice guidance, a textual paper direction list with large legible font, and a conventional paper map). The eye glance data shown in the comparison of these two studies revealed several interesting findings. In all conditions, scanning of instruments, mirrors and signs/ landmarks was a low frequency occurrence and largely constant. Increases in visual attention by a navigation condition draws attention from forward, left and right roadway scanning resources. Thus, navigating draws upon potentially valuable accident avoidance resources in some circumstances. The eye scanning results also shared the relative benefits of the addition of a highlighted route to a moving map display, the simplification of a visual display from a full map to a turn-by-turn graphic, and the addition of a voice supplement to a navigation aid.

Abstract The structure of the low redshift Universe is dominated by a multiscale void distribution delineated by filaments and walls of galaxies. The characteristics of voids, such as morphology, average density profile, and correlation function, can be used as cosmological probes. However, their physical properties are difficult to infer due to shot noise and the general lack of tracer particles used to define them. In this work, we construct a robust, topology-based void-finding algorithm that utilizes Persistent Homology to detect persistent features in the data. We apply this approach to a volume-limited subsample of galaxies in the SDSS I/II Main Galaxy catalog with the r-band absolute magnitude brighter than M r = −20.19, and a set of mock catalogs constructed using the Horizon Run 4 cosmological N-body simulation. We measure the size distribution of voids, their averaged radial profile, sphericity, and the centroid nearest neighbor separation, using conservative values for the threshold and persistence. We find 32 topologically robust voids in the SDSS data over the redshift range 0.02 ≤ z ≤ 0.116, with effective radii in the range 21−56 h −1 Mpc. The median nearest neighbor void separation is found to be ∼57 h −1 Mpc, and the median radial void profile is consistent with the expected shape from the mock data.

La talectomie est une alternative chirurgicale du traitement des déformations majeures du pied chez l’adulte. Notre série rétrospective comporte dix pieds répartis en six hommes et quatre femmes dont l’étiologie est soit un pied bot varus équin invétéré ou multiopéré, soit un pied neurologique. La marche s’effectue sur le bord externe du pied, avec un appui digitigrade dans neuf cas. Tous les patients sont traités par une talectomie avec arthrodèse tibiocalcanéonaviculaire par voie antérolatérale. Au recul de quatre ans, nous rapportons 90 % de résultats cliniques satisfaisants, un gain moyen de 42 points du score de l’AOFAS, une consolidation de l’arthrodèse chez 80 % des patients et un taux de complications de 50 %. Cette chirurgie permet d’avoir un appui plantigrade, une marche indolente et stable avec un chaussage normal. Elle nécessite une étude des déformations avec une planification préopératoire pour décider de la position de l’arthrodèse.

This article examines two anthologies of Palestinian women’s literature, published in Ramallah in the 1990s. Its objective is to map the writing trends of new generation Palestinian women writers whose works appear in the anthologies and to highlight the factors and constraints that influence their writing. The article reveals that while only a few stories focus wholly on a description of the female “self”, most of the stories relate to the Palestinian political reality in two principal ways: one which blurs the female presence almost completely, second which portrays the interaction between the political-national reality and the “female” reality. The article also illustrates how the nature of Palestinian women’s literature is influenced by the location of the writer and also by the extent of her desire to be “accepted” culturally and so to be included in anthologies such as those under discussion.
