The article is a study on Zhang Dongsun’s “theory of epistemological pluralism” based on his book called “The Theory of Knowledge” (认识论). Zhang Dongsun was one of the first Chinese philosophers of the 20th century to create a holistic epistemological theory, and also one of the first intercultural philosophers. In the Russian scholarly literature, Zhang Dongsun’s “theory of epistemological pluralism” is under-researched. The article aims to give a detailed account of the epistemological theory of Zhang Dongsun as comes from his book “The Theory of Knowledge”. The article, which uses comparative and systematic approaches is also supported by a significant number of specialist works written both by Russian and foreign scholars. The author outlines the Zhang Dongsun theory regarding epistemological pluralism and his views on cosmology and the evolution theory. Equally, she presents the Zhang Dongsun views on the impact of culture on the phenomenon of knowledge. The author also considers the Western philosophical categories, which could have influenced the formation of Zhang Dongsun’s theory of epistemological pluralism.

Although we have made much progress in understanding the growth of mind by shifting from Piagetian theory to a variety of views of conceptual development as the domain-specific construction of knowledge under constraints, the key notion of “constraints” is not yet well articulated. As a result, the views have not yet constituted a coherent theory that replaces Piagetian theory. In this article, after summarising “dominant” views of conceptual development, we reconceptualise the notion of “innate constraints”, more specifically as preferences and biases that serve as learning mechanisms, not as innate knowledge or representational contents. We then propose to expand the notion of “constraints” to include interactive, sociocultural constraints as well as internal, cognitive ones, which enable even young children to acquire knowledge in uniquely human ways. We believe that these formulations make the current views of conceptual development better specified and more comprehensive. Finally we offer our prospect for the future of conceptual development theories.

Knowledge is now recognized as the driving force behind economic growth and productivity. The purpose of the article is study of the theory and practice of knowledge management as the basis for the competitive advantage of a modern organization on the example of a specific institution of higher education — Astrakhan State University. The methodological basis was a categorical apparatus of the knowledge management system, methods of description, analysis, synthesis, content analysis, as well as a systematic approach in relation to the description of the experience of a particular university. As part of the study, the systematization of theoretical views on the management of explicit and implicit knowledge was carried out, the features of this process in the higher education system were studied, and the barriers that prevent the free transfer of knowledge in organizations of this type were identified. The data considered in the article can be used in the institutions of higher education in Russia in the development of strategies in the relevant field of activity.

This paper will discuss some introductory issues related to the role and importance of microdiversity of agents in the context of business networks. Traditional views emphasise the importance of connectivity in the making of industrial clusters, but neglect the crucial role of microdiversity. Microdiversity is important to achieve adaptive behaviour in the presence of environmental uncertainty. Diversity acts as a reservoir of potential strategies against unpredictable environments. Secondly, the formation of business networks is explained in terms of mechanisms generating diversity. Networks emerge as the organisational form in which the diversity of agents can self-organise. This paper suggests that the issue of diversity can be used to discriminate between the model of organisation based on rational allocation of resources — the firm — and the model of organisation based on emergence and self-organisation — the network. The paper concludes that the former is a diversity-reducing mechanism, whereas the latter is a diversity-enhancing mechanism

Understanding theory, its practical application, and how to select a theoretical framework for research studies is often a challenging problem for new graduate and doctoral business students. As these students explore theory use in various fields and the general academic body of knowledge, this task can become even more daunting and confusing. There does not appear to be a common definition of theory across or within different disciplines. Further, scholars disagree on the value of theory and its practical application. This paper explores the scholarly nature of theory, its application, and its relationship to world view. Examples and a discussion are provided to better help students absorb this important yet ambiguous topic.

The article tried to cover in detail the socio-philosophical views of Pythagoras, the theory of knowledge, his teachings on the human psyche, oriental motives in the formation of his attitude to man. In the works of Pythagoras there are different interpretations of the myths about the afterlife of the human soul. The question of the eternity of the soul has been shown to be of great importance in the work of Pythagoras. Our goal is to analyze the socio-philosophical, moral views of Pythagoras, as well as the theory of knowledge, his views on man, based on sources. It is revealed that Pythagoras was influenced by ancient myths, the Upanishads, in creating his works.

Russell's theory of memory as acquaintance with the past seems to square uneasily with his definition of acquaintance as the converse of the relation of presentation of an object to a subject. We show how the two views can be made to cohere under a suitable construal of 'presentation', which has the additional appeal of bringing Russell's theory of memory closer to contemporary views on direct reference and object-dependent thinking than is usually acknowledged. The drawback is that memory as acquaintance with the past falls short of fulfilling Russell's requirement that knowledge by acquaintance be discriminating knowledge - a shortcoming shared by contemporary externalist accounts of knowledge from memory.

This discussion on the integration of Islamic values within the sciences is focused mainly on the views and preoccupation of Malaysian proponents of the Islamization of human knowledge (IOHK) concept who expressed their views and views of their other Muslim associates either in Malaysia or abroad. Necessarily, a historical backdrop on the significance and centrality of knowledge in Islamic civilization is mentioned to emphasize why some proponents of IOHK regard this approach as a jihad of the 21st century. It is in particular to them a jihad to restore science to its rightful position within the trajectory in conformity with the teaching of Islam so that science would not be used without impunity to fuel human greed that could cause serious hazards to humankind. Islamization enterprise or Islamicization (a more appropriate term ) has been triggered mainly to protect the sanctity of knowledge as conceived and understood in the Islamic perspective from the onslaught of the conception of knowledge purported by Western scientists and scholars within the worldview formed and shaped by naturalism, materialism, and positivism perspectives. The analytical and critical approaches are used as methods of discussion.

The study aimed to understand Senior High School Students’ perspectives on the myth of theory, law, and the theory-laden nature of scientific knowledge. A qualitative approach was adopted using a case-study design based on the constructivists paradigm. The participants were ten (10) students purposively selected from a Minor Seminary Senior High School in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The school was selected as a case using the extreme-case selection criteria. Instrument used for data collection was the Theory, Law, and Theory-laden Questionnaire (TLT-LQ). The TLT-LQ consisted of four questions on myth of theory and law and the theory-laden or subjective nature of science. The questions were adapted from Items 5 and 8 of the VNOS-C questionnaire. It was found that six students (60%) held naïve views on the differences between a theory and law. They think that a theory is a guess that has not been proven scientifically, whiles a law is a theory that has been proven to be true. Three students (30%) held transitional views on the differences between a theory and law. They correctly stated that theories explain events, but also think that a theory is a hypothesis that has been tested and proven. Thus, they believe in the myth of a hierarchical relationship between a hypothesis and a theory. Nine students (90%) held the naïve view that there is a hierarchical relationship between a theory and a law where a theory becomes law after it has been proven. On the subjective nature of science, five students (50%) held informed views. They understand that scientific knowledge is subjective or theory-laden. They believe that two scientists may see things differently. Also, four students (40%) held a transitional view. The students think that two scientists may get different results and conclusions from the same data set. They believe that two scientists may analyse the same data set differently. They also think that different experimental error can lead to different conclusions, implying indirectly that a scientists’ backgrounds, values, beliefs and training affects the way they interpret data.

It is shown that the features of cognitive activity occupied one of the most important places in the philosophical problems of China. And the main feature of the teachings was that the original principle of knowledge was a symbolic embodiment of the idea of unity and harmony in the entire universe. It is noted that the theory of knowledge in the teachings of philosophers, was able to implement the implementation of special ideas in life, forming the way of thinking of the Chinese, and preserved up to the present. At the same time, the indicated ideas have become for Chinese society, not just a philosophy, but also a guide in life in all its manifestations. Abstract Two Jewish boys – Danny, with traditional views and Reuven with liberal views share a common struggle in finding their place in the world. Silence as a parenting technique can be damaging or a form of discipline for the sake of spiritual self-discovery and improvement. By experiencing one’s pain and suffering, we can find our soul and destroy our indifference towards others. Unlike David Malter, Reuven’s father, who has a relationship based on dialogue with his son, Reb Saunders, Danny’s father teaches his son compassion and caring for the world through silence. For him, silence is a substitute for words in expressing one’s inner self. His son’s mind is excellent, but his soul is empty, and a mind with a soul is more important than knowledge. While Danny feels the pain of silence due to his relationship with his father, Reuven feels the pain of silence when he no longer keeps contact with Danny. The paper demonstrates that silence, if taught efficiently, is not a symbol of oppression and tyranny but a tool for achieving self-knowledge and taking the correct choices in life.

Indigenous Knowledge is largely neglected in the primary school curriculum, yet it espouses the history, art, nature, and traditions of the community from which students come. This study explores the views of six custodians and six teachers on the integration of Indigenous Knowledge in the primary school curriculum in Zimbabwe. Indigenous standpoint theory and participatory research methodology framed the study. Data were generated through focus group discussions with Indigenous Knowledge custodians through individual interviews with teachers. The custodians’ views confirmed that Indigenous Knowledge was significant to their identities, but they were concerned with the loss of their culture due to modernization. Most teachers acknowledged the wisdom of Indigenous Knowledge custodians, welcomed their contributions, but some teachers were sceptical about custodians teaching formally in the classrooms. Several dilemmas arose from the views of participants, which have implication for the integration of Indigenous Knowledge in primary schools.

ABSTRACT:This paper examines intellectualism in the theory of action. Philosophers use ‘intellectualism’ variously, but few question its application to views on which knowledge of facts—expressible in that-clauses—is basic for understanding other kinds of knowledge, reasons for action, and practical reasoning. More broadly, for intellectualists, theoretical knowledge is more basic than practical knowledge; action, at least if rational, is knowledge-guided, and just as beliefs based on reasoning constitute knowledge only if its essential premises constitute knowledge, actions based on practical reasoning are rational only if any essential premise in it is known. Two major intellectualist claims are that practical knowledge, as knowing how, is reducible to propositional knowledge, a kind of knowing that, and that reasons for action must be (propositionally) known by the agent. This paper critically explores both claims by offering a broad though partial conception of practical knowledge and a pluralistic view of reasons for action. The aim is to sketch conceptions of knowing how and knowing that, and of the relation between knowledge and action, that avoid intellectualism but also do justice to both the importance of the intellect for human action and the distinctive character of practical reason.

This article attempts to reconcile Sandra Harding's postmodernist standpoint theory with process reliabilism in first-order epistemology and naturalism in metaepistemology. Postmodernist standpoint theory is best understood as consisting of an applied epistemological component and a metaepistemological component. Naturalist metaepistemology and the metaepistemological component of postmodernist standpoint theory have produced complementary views of knowledge as a socially and naturally located phenomenon and have converged on a common concept of objectivity. The applied epistemological claims of postmodernist standpoint theory usefully can be construed as applications of process reliabilist first-order epistemology. Postmodernist standpoint theory, reliabilism, and naturalism thus form a coherent package of views in metaepistemology, first-order epistemology, and applied epistemology.

The article analyzes the logical-philosophical ideas of D. Chyzhevskyi based on his own lectures on logic. D. Chyzhevskyi is an outstanding scholar in the history of Ukrainian humanities. The study of his logical heritage reveals his scientific versatility, deep philosophical understanding, and orientation in new directions of logic. The purpose of the research is to conduct a theoretical analysis of D. Chyzhevskyi's logical research from the perspective of their problematic nature, methodology, content, and delineation of existing trends in logic. The methodological principles of the research are historical, hermeneutic, and comparative methods. The study of logic has always been a propaedeutic not only for philosophical knowledge but also for preparation for scientific activity in any field. D.Chyzhevskyi understands the significance of logic. He defines logic as a philosophical science that has own object and studies the forms of assertions and negations. In the structure of logical knowledge, he distinguishes: the theory of concepts, judgments, inference, as well as methodology and the theory of science. D. Chyzhevskyi identifies six directions of logic: empirical logic, mathematical logic, Kant's transcendental logic, the historical methodology of logic, systematics, and the criticism of psychologism in logic. There is a significant amount of explanations related to mathematical logic in D.Chyzhevskyi's textbook. He analyzes the views of de Morgan, J. Bull, St. Jevons, D. Peano, E. Schroeder, L. Couture, B. Russell, J. Royce, O. Weblin. According to Chyzhevskyi, the advantages of mathematical logic are the possibility of building a more precise science through the establishment of a system of axioms and rigorous proof of theorems.

Considering the philosophical heritage of Alexander Bogdanov, the author focuses on the aspect of the theory of knowledge, which passes through all the work of the famous philosopher and revolutionary. Doubts about the possibility of an exhaustive knowledge of the surrounding reality are also visible in Bogdanov’s earliest works. An attempt to build a new approach to human knowledge, having rinked him with activity experience, was undertaken by him in his main philosophical work, “Empiriomonism”. Standing on the positions of positivism as a “scientific” philosophy, Bogdanov tried to substantiate the dynamics of the public process, while remaining at the Marxist platform. The further development of his ideas led to the creation of a “universal organizational science” – tectology, which, in his opinion, has already passed beyond philosophy and was not only science, but also methodology of knowledge, as well as the style of scientific thinking, to which science, initially not realizing this, always sought. Thus, studying the legacy of Bogdanov, we see the development of views on the ideas of knowledge in the Russian philosophy of the beginning of the XXth century.

Three groups of the interrelated metaphysical aspects are discussed: local gauge symmetry’s structure of the theory, problem of the truth and reality and the role of the metaphysical factors in the construction of the theory. Scientific-realistic nature of the SM creator’s metaphysical views are emphasized. A. Einstein’s model of the theory’s construction (with “Einstein’s arc”), E. Wigner’s three layer scheme of the structure and the development of the scientific knowledge (with the symmetry principles as a main layer) and S.I. Vavilov’s “mistakability” сonception of the scientific knowledge development are proposed for the study of the metaphysical factors and their role in the formation of the SM.

Seventeen participants took part in a semi-structured interview. The study used Grounded Theory to analyze the interviews and developed a model that consists of 4 major themes: (a) "attitudes toward animals," (b) "knowledge of animal use procedures," (c) "perceptions of choice," and (d) "cost-benefit analysis. "The findings illustrate that cognitive processing, characteristics of the species of animal being used, and the type of animal use can all influence attitudes toward animal use. Because previous research has focused on participant variables such as age and gender to explain variance in attitudes toward animal use (Furnham & Pinder, 1990; Kellert & Berry, 1981) and measured attitudes toward animal use in general (rather than distinguishing between different types of use) (Armstrong & Hutchins, 1996), these findings can add to knowledge of people's views on animal use. That is, according to Ibn Sina, he believed that philosophy first considers being, and then studies the objects generated by being. The Thinker defines the essence as “Wujud”. And it proves that the necessary cause of Wujud is God. In the philosophical teachings of Ibn Sina, God is defined by the word Haq. The thinker does not consider the relationship between God and nature as a relationship between the creator and the created, but views them as an interacting cause-and-effect relationship. Along with this, the article covers issues that, according to the thinker, are the main issues of philosophy. This is the problem of man, the essence, being, physical and spiritual development of man. This article also outlines issues such as spase, time, soul, body and issues of the general theory of knowledge. The thinker solved this problem on the basis of intelligence and practice. In practice, relying on what exists in objects of the external world, he deduces natural patterns from them. Experimental, sensory knowledge, according to Ibn Sina, is the first stage of knowledge of nature. At the same time, the thinker deeply and comprehensively explored the role and power of the senses in the process of cognition.

In the last twenty years there has been a dramatic revival of interest in the idea that there can be genuine moral knowledge. The noncognitivist assumptions that dominated so much twentieth-century ethical theory no longer seem the obvious truths they once did to so many thinkers. It is now common to hear the claim that moral values are genuine constituents of the furniture of the world - or at least of its upholstery- and that moral deliberation and judgment legitimately aspire to truth. Morality, it is frequently argued, is a realm of discovery rather than invention, and moral reasoning, and the play of moral imagination, must be constrained by how the moral facts stand.Such “realist” or “cognitivist” views in ethics take many forms. This essay considers whether a pragmatist account of moral knowledge might fruitfully be developed. My project will recommend itself only to those who believe that pragmatist insights serve to support relatively robust conceptions of truth and justification.

In today's economic climate, knowledge management is very important to the non-profit sector as these organisations experience the effects of a global recession. Financial instability may lead to downsising that creates a loss of important information. For non-profit organisations, a creative solution to the financial crisis has been re-structuring through multi-agency collaborations and mergers. These restructuring processes are complex and disruptive, making effective knowledge management processes even more important for organisational success. This study employs a qualitative interview design to explore the merger of two non-profit cancer support agencies through the lens of knowledge management theory. Participants of the original agencies shared their views of previous knowledge processes, how the processes changed as a result of the merger and strategies used by the newly formed agency to address merger complexities. Results reflect that one of the original organisations began as a non-profit medical provider with formal culture and communication patterns; the other a grass-roots social service agency with informal structure and communication patterns. These differences contributed to differing views about how the merger was implemented and perceived by various employees and board members. Knowledge gains were generally explicit knowledge processes while knowledge losses were implicit processes. Some important strategies and lessons learned included the need for good documentation of all work processes, an external facilitator, and the need for transparency and collaboration between all constituents.

This study critically investigates the Dead Internet Theory, emphasizing how it emerged in the context of a changing digital environment. The growing internet seems to have disappeared somewhere between 2016 and 2017. The virtual world appears lifeless due to the growth of automated creatures and AI-generated content. Despite continuing high levels of human creativity and production, the widespread impact of bots raises significant concerns about the basic structure of the internet. Researchers anticipate that the internet will change beyond recognition in the future because to this transformation, which is being driven by apps like GPT-3. This study illuminates the consequences of online interactions by investigating the widespread impact of AI-driven models such as GPTs and the ensuing discussions regarding the dominant position of AI-generated content. We examine the growing prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated material, as evidenced by examples like Imperva’s Bot Circulation Report, Twitter bots, Elon Musk’s Twitter acquiring it, and phony YouTube views. Through the examination of notable cases like the Twitter bot scandal and the widespread trafficking of phony YouTube views, this study adds to a more comprehensive knowledge of the possible consequences of the increasing prevalence of automated entities in the online environment. Our findings predicted that 99.9\% of all media may be AI generated, which raised concerns when ChatGPT became available in 2022. Furthermore, Imperva stated in 2016 that 52\% of all Internet traffic is bots now, indicating bots replacing humans, forecasting a day when content generated by AI will dominate. This outcome give conformity to the idea of dead internet.

AbstractThe present review attempts to discuss how some of the central concepts from the Lurian corpus of theories are relevant to the modern neuropsychology of epilepsy and epilepsy surgery. Through the lenses of the main Lurian concepts (such as the qualitative syndrome analysis), we discuss the barriers to clinical reasoning imposed by quadrant-based views of the brain, or even atheoretical, statistically-based and data-driven approaches. We further advice towards a systemic view inspired by Luria's clinical work and theorizing, given their importance towards our clinical practice, by contrasting it to the modular views when appropriate. Luria provided theory-guided methods of assessment and rehabilitation of higher cortical functions. Although his work did not specifically address epilepsy, his theory and clinical approaches actually apply to the whole neuropathology spectrum and accounting for the whole panorama of neurocognition. This holistic and systemic approach to the brain is consistent with the network approach of the neuroimaging era. As to epilepsy, the logic of cognitive functions organized into complex functional systems, contrary to modular views of the brain, heralds current knowledge of epilepsy as a network disease, as well as the concept of the functional deficit zone.

Subjective views are gaining respect as we are increasingly becoming objective in evaluating our subjective views (Runco, 1990). One of the most informative approaches for the study of the subjective views involves ‘implicit theories’. The work by Sternberg and his associates (1982) is particularly convincing because it demonstrates that implicit theories influence actual behavior. Implicit theories are defined as an individual's basic assumption about him/herself and the rest of the world. These theories thus help create a meaning system by providing a framework to guide our goals (Dweck, 1995). These are theories that exist in the minds of individuals and need to be discussed rather than invented because they already exist in some form in people's heads (Sternberg, 1998, pp608). Thus these theories arise from the individual's personal experiences and are mainly mediated by the individual's socio-cultural environment (Runco, 1990). A child's implicit theory is supposed to consist of loose generalizations and explanations that describe the relationships among concepts within a domain of knowledge. While implicit theories are not easy for a child to articulate, they guide the child's thoughts, deductions and behaviors (Guenther, 1998). Research on implicit theories is not to evaluate the correctness of children's beliefs but to understand their construction of reality. Research studies done in this area with children have produced significant results. Gross's (2001) study is particularly worth mentioning. This study investigated issues pertaining to giftedness in a group of children from year 3 through 7. The study found out that children's conception of giftedness is developmental and strongly influenced by age.

AbstractIn this paper, we perform a cognitive analysis of knowledge discovery processes. As a result of this analysis, the construction-integration theory is proposed as a general framework for developing cooperative knowledge evolution systems. We thus suggest that for the acquisition of new domain knowledge in medicine, one should first construct pluralistic views on a given topic which may contain inconsistencies as well as redundancies. Only thereafter does this knowledge become consolidated into a situation-specific circumscription and the early inconsistencies become eliminated. As a proof for the viability of such knowledge acquisition processes in medicine, we present the IDEAS system, which can be used for the intelligent documentation of adverse events in clinical studies. This system provides a better documentation of the side-effects of medical drugs. Thereby, knowledge evolution occurs by achieving consistent explanations in increasingly larger contexts (i.e., more cases and more pharmaceutical substrates). Finally, it is shown how prototypes, model-based approaches and cooperative knowledge evolution systems can be distinguished as different classes of knowledge-based systems.

The article consider the concept of religious pluralism by M. Mendelssohn and some aspects of his theory of knowledge and linguistic theory, lying in the foundation of the pluralism concept. The article shows that Mendelssohn expressed views that are far ahead of his time. His theory of knowledge repeats some lines of Hume's philosophy, which he praised highly, what was not characteristic of the German Enlightenment as a whole. By virtue of this, Mendelssohn can be considered as Kant's predecessor in a positive assessment of Hume. Some of Mendelssohns ideas are further developed in phenomenology. The author argues that Mendelssohns views on the interaction of religions, although they have a number of features that make this thinker related to other thinkers of the Enlightenment, also have a fundamental difference with them. As a result, his religious pluralism concept is close to the modern understanding of religious pluralism. The author also attempts to reveal the reasons why Mendelssohn, despite his great significance for both German philosophy and Jewish culture, was almost forgotten for a long time.

An abductive approach to co-design allows for inclusion of expert knowledge, providing theoretical guidance while simultaneously investigating user views and ideas extending understanding beyond known effective approaches. We use the seven-step co-design framework and outline how an abductive inference can be applied to co-design. Social cognitive theory constructs were integrated into the seven-step co-design process. The abductive approach to co-design was tested in two co-design sessions involving 40 participants. Findings demonstrate that theory can be successfully integrated into the seven-step co-design process through utilization of theory-mapped activity cards. The ArgumentThis paper analyzes the complex and many-layered interrelation between the realization of the inevitable limits of precision in the experimental domain, the emerging quantum theory, and empirically oriented philosophy in the years 1925–1935. In contrast to the usual historical presentation of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle as a purely theoretical achievement, this work discloses the experimental roots of Heisenberg's contribution. In addition, this paper argues that the positivistic philosophy of elimination of unobservables was not used as a guiding principle in the emergence of the new quantum theory, but rather mostly as a post facto justification. The case of P. W. Bridgman, analyzed in this paper, demonstrates how inconclusive operationalistic arguments are, when used as a possible heuristic aid for future discoveries. A large part of this paper is devoted to the evolution of Bridgman's views, and his skeptical reassessment of operationalism and of the very notion of scientific truth.

Abstract Adopting bioethics as the framework, this essay discusses the transformation of medical curricula in Brazil from a multidisciplinary model to an inter- or transciplinary one. The narrative review method is used to discuss the theory of complexity and transdiciplinarity, establishing an analogous understanding between how Latin American bioethics views use this theory to understand reality, creating conceptual framework of a medical curricula that goes beyond fragmentation in training. Complex thought and transdiciplinarity are fundamental for the bioethics views of the global south to understand a non-reductionist reality, one that is open to constructing knowledge that is not isolated in a biomedical understanding of the world. Likewise, to train physicians with a broader view of health and who value the social and subjective determinant aspects in the health-disease process, the curriculum must provide a rekindling of pieces of knowledge. The introduction of complex though in medical curricula can stimulate non-reductionist teaching.

The connection between language and empiricism is a central issue in technical writing and communication, more so than in other fields. Our field deals with technical and scientific knowledge which is oftentimes very definite and objective, yet there has been increasing recognition over the past few decades that this knowledge is socially constructed and rhetorically negotiated. Debates have ensued over the rhetoricity of technical communication in contrast to its empirical and instrumental aspects. W. V Quine, one of the most influential American philosophers of the twentieth century, however, rejected the distinction between empirical knowledge and knowledge stemming from language and social negotiation. Understanding technical writing and communication through the lens of Quine's theory ameliorates the tension between instrumental and rhetorical/humanistic views of technical discourse by recognizing the validity of both views and integrating the two. This understanding in turn will facilitate our pedagogical interactions with technical and scientific majors.

The substrate-independence theory utilizes sensemaking techniques to provide cognitively based scaffolds that guide and structure learning. Scaffolds are cognitive abstractions of constraints that relate to information within a system. The substrate-independence theory concentrates on the flow of information as the underlying property of the host system. The substrate-independence theory views social systems as complex adaptive systems capable of repurposing their structure to combat external threats by utilizing constructors and substrates. Constructor theory is used to identify potential construction tasks, the legitimate input and output states that are possible, to map the desired change in the substrate’s attributes. Construction tasks can be mapped in advance for ordered and known environments. Construction tasks may also be mapped in either real-time or post hoc for unordered and complex environments using current sensemaking techniques. Mapping of the construction tasks in real-time becomes part of the landscape, and scaffolds are implemented to aid in achieving the desired state or move to a more manageable environment (e.g., from complex to complicated).

AbstractThe global economic system and the world crisis are a reality, and hence the challenge for modern economic theory, which is to provide a valid response to its development and overcoming the crisis. The prevailing economic theory and methodology (neo-liberal paradigm) in this field demonstrates serious defects, so this paper attempts to show that the relative nature of economic theory is in expressing the social prejudices of its time. Demystification of the ideological and political foundations of what is today considered "objective knowledge" in the economy, is only possible with the affirmation of a new scientific methodology of economics, i.e. the new philosophy of economics. The aim of the paper is to stimulate thinking and different views on this subject.

The debate between internalism and externalism dominates Angloamerican epistemology. Some authors consider Aquinas’epistemology as a kind of internalist foundationalism; by contrast, others frame his theory of knowledge inside the externalism as a theistic reliabilism. This paper offers a critical analysis about these views on Aquinas thought.
