My investigations based on wide cross-section analysis of 5128 firms in Czech Republic (1998-2006) present some evidence of their behaviour in field of innovations. Business sector relationship to technological change is characterized by following findings (ceteris paribus): 1) Size of a firm (given by capital, employees and total sales) has ambiguous relation to total number of R&D workers. 2) There is negative relationship between concentration and number of R&D workers. 3) Competition is positively associated with intensive using of intellectual property rights (given by intangible assets). 4) Benefits of in-house R&D that is represented by total number of R&D workers come with multiplicative relation towards total sales. 5) Companies owned by foreigners substantially contribute to total R&D activity in Czech Republic and there is some evidence of technological transfer.

The question of business cycles is one of the most interesting topics of the economic policy. The period of economic recession influences most of the subjects in the economy. One of these subjects is a firm. In this thesis I discuss the question how economic depression impacts the value of a firm and how firms react to the recession, what are the consequences of their reactions and the results of these consequences at the macroeconomic level. To demonstrate the impact of the crisis I have evaluated the firm ACTIVA with Discounted Cash Flow Entity method in two different time frames, first evaluation was done before the crisis occurred and the second was done during the crisis. I conclude that the crisis causes a slowdown of the growth of the relevant market and therefore also of the revenues of the firm, it causes a fall in the economic results and not least the profit margin. As a result the value of the firm decreases to less than a half of its pre-crisis value. This proves that the view of a firm's value has significantly changed as a result of the crisis. The firm's behaviour has changed as well and whence it follows that the business cycle is a consequence of a changed behaviour of the economic subjects, which operate their behaviour according to the prices.

This master thesis discusses matters of cloud Business Intelligence in Software as a Service form and the possibilities of using this technology in a law firm environment. First theoretical part deals with definition of notion Business Intelligence and cloud, including functionality and technological background. Further is also analyze market of Business Intelligence, including look at trends. In practical part is thesis focused on determining the metrics and criteria with regard to the requirements of specific branches of czech economics a comparing cloud Business Intelligence tools whic are available. Based on this comparison is suggested solution in tool for law firm Brož & Sokol & Novák s.r.o. The main benefit of this thesis is usability analysis of cloud Business Intelligence in law firm environment.

The diploma work addresses the application of ethical code into banking. It deals with business ethic and ethical code of Československá obchodní banka, Inc. The thesis analyses the original ethical code of the bank and engages in the implementation of the new ethical code which includes, among others, “The Whistle Blowing Policy”. The diploma work brings a cross-sectional survey of the employees of Československá obchodní banka, Inc. about their awareness and ability to fulfil the principles of the ethical code. The bank was recommended possible solutions based on the results of the survey.

The aim of this disseration is to find a place for the rise and development of a firm operating on the real estate market. This is achieved on the basis of the real estate market analysis and its opportunities in the perspective of current economic problems. There are two main topics in this thesis: the first one concerns the real estate market and the second one concerns the business plan. The theoretical approach both to the real esate market and the business plan is presented in the theoretical part. In the applicational part is firstly analysed the Czech real esate market, which is folloved by the business plan of United Project Management company.

The main aim of this thesis is to verify whether the economic cycles have an impact on the economic situation of professional football clubs in the United Kingdom. The reference period are the years 2006 to 2014, which include the recent economic crisis. In the theoretical part, sports club are defined as a firm in accordance with behavioral theory which was selected as the most suitable. Analyzed are the specifics of functioning of sports clubs, such as the method of determining the club's goals. These are among sports clubs, unlike conventional businesses, based on the principle of utility maximization. Furthermore, sporting markets are described, and considered a sports cartel. Described are also different ways of financing of sports clubs, and as the most important nowadays are chosen: gate receipts, broadcasting revenues and sponsorship. As the part of the thesis, the substantial positive effects of analyzed Premier League on the British society is described. These include big tax revenues for the government of United Kingdom. In the 2013, those tax revenues reached 1.3 billion pounds. The practical part of the thesis characterizes Premier League, and subsequently also the selected football clubs, and especially their economic development in the reference period. The data obtained are then coupled with the economic development of United Kingdom. Data reveal that neither club revenues, nor expenses were affected by the economic crisis. Similarly, there was not registered any effect of the crisis on the wages of the clubs employees, nor on the number of staff employed by the clubs.

This doctoral thesis presents the basic and the main developments of the theories of the firm rooted in Transaction Cost Theory (TCT). Since the article of Coase on the nature of the firm, this question has been elaborated by number of economists. In my point of view, I would like to introduce the last theory developed by the representative of the school called New Institutional Economics. The theory concentrates on the role of institutions. We distinguish institutions formal and informal. The formal are laws, constitution, regulations, contracts and other written rules. The informal don't require a written form and they represent informal restrictions such as rules of behaviour, conventions, traditions and habits. The main purpose of the institutions in their various forms is mainly to protect property rights, enforce voluntary contracts and establish the physical and regulatory infrastructure to facilitate economic activity. Generally, we can call them the rules of the game. They inform us about possible economic behaviour and give us basic restrictions in this sense. First -- the theoretical part of this thesis, we can find a simple model with human asset specificity based on TCT. The main proposition is that transactions with a high level of asset specificity are more probably internalised because the firm handles better such transactions compared to the market, even if asset specificity increases the cost of coordination in the firm. If the hierarchy, for example through the formation of routines, may enhance the efficiency compared to the market, we can modify the previous model. The model developed according to a Knowledge-based view assumes that asset specificity reduces transaction costs inside the firm and increases transaction costs on the market. In the conclusion of the theoretical part is discussed the reply on first formulate hypothesis if the TCT is still compatible with a newer Capability and Knowledge based view. In my opinion based on the presented arguments and views, both theories are compatible, they can answer more questions and explain more issues. The last step links the aforementioned theories into one Theory of firm boundaries. In the practical part of the thesis, I bring basic arguments about the institutional framework quality in the Czech Republic. These arguments rely on the latest studies of the international institutions such The Transparency International, The Heritage Foundation, The Kurtzman Group and mainly The World Bank. Studies reveal certain weak arrangements concerning for example the number of procedures when starting a business, complicated construction permits, rigidity of working hours, time-consuming and administrative demanding tax system, duration of judicial process which results in ineffective contract enforcement and mainly poor protection of property rights. Taking these disclosures into account we have to say that emergent transaction costs are enormous. These transaction costs influence negatively the competitiveness of the firms and the whole Czech economy. Therefore a negative response to the second hypothesis relating to the quality of the institutional framework in the Czech Republic.

Doctoral dissertation work that results from the new management theory has explored in both theory and practice new directions in approach to the strategy in German iron-foundries. It has explained the reasons that lead to structural changes, made the foundation for decision process, described the problems that occur when put in practice and suggested their resolution. Further on, it was explored and critically evaluated which competitive advantages these strategy directions contributed to and consequently discussed the superior aim of strategy. It has resulted from the empirical research that the German iron-foundries have been strongly influenced especially by new information technologies and car industry and its strategies. The most significant trend of iron-foundries is the focus on the key branch of activity. Cooperation and innovative strategy represent the complementary strategy to the primary strategy and enable to merge the comprehensive requirements of customers with the needed specialization and hereby retain their competitiveness. The research respecting the global economic crisis in the car industry shows that German iron-foundries have to re-evaluate their actual strategies and convert the growth to stability and long lasting development.

Master´s thesis Ethical and Social Audit of company RGP CZ s. r. o. deal about ethic audit in this company. The theoretical part is focused on the elementary prescription of the enterpreneurial ethics, it´s definition, evolution and reasons for ethical behaviour of enterprises. Important aspekt is also measurement of enterpreneurial ethic and consequently the tools of enterpreneurial ethic, which serve the purpose of realisation of ethical programme of the enterprise. The applied, practical part of this dissertation is the ethic audit of company RGP CZ s. r. o. and evaluation of this audit. Results are presented by recommendations for the company, how it shall proceed the improvements of the ethical behaviour of the company.

The final thesis presents findings of the nongovernmental non-profit organizations' entrepreneurial activities in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis was to find out if NGOs fulfil criteria for social firm according to defined standards. NGOs necessarily run a business to get additional money for their activities to substitute diminishing state funds. The research focused on NGOs' entrepreneurship was done by electronic questionnaire within this thesis. Its purpose is to inform about motivation, risks, problems, personal characteristics and financial sustainability of social firms. The study has evidence that none of the respondents from Czech NGOs fully met standards' requirements. The organizations usually are not able to earn at least 50 % of the firm's turnover through sales of goods and services and also 25 - 55 % of the workforce is not disadvantaged in gaining employment.

Úspěch společnosti poskytující služby je závislý na efektivním využití kvalifikovaných lidských zdrojů. Na rozdíl od výrobní společnosti u firmy poskytující služby není vždy proveditelné zcela standardizovat výstupy, proto efektivita společnosti je závislá na optimalizaci vnitrofiremních procesů a přesném vymezení rolí u jednotlivých pozic. Principy Total Quality Managementu aplikované na společnost poskytující služby zajistí standardizaci fungování a vnitrofiremních procesů společnosti při zachování potřebné flexibility, což z dlouhodobého hlediska společnosti poskytující služby přinese výhody oproti konkurenci, zefektivnění řízení organizace a zvýšení návratnosti investice pro majitele/investora. Součástí práce je návrh implementace TQM připravený pro SME zabývající se poskytováním IT služeb.

This research studies the practical person principle as it was introduced in the case of Commissioner for Inland Revenue v Lever Brothers and Unilever Ltd 1946 AD 441. In its time the Lever Brothers case was a seminal judgment in South Africa’s tax jurisprudence and the practical person principle was a decisive criterion for the determination of source of income. The primary goal of this research was a critical analysis the practical man principle. This involved an analysis of the extent to which this principle requires judges to adopt a criterion that is too flexible for legitimate judicial decision-making. The extent to which the practical person principle creates a clash between a philosophical approach to law and an approach that is based on common sense or practicality was also debated. Finally, it was considered whether adopting a philosophical approach to determining the source of income could overcome the problems associated with the practical approach. A doctrinal methodology was applied to the documentary data consisting of the South African and Australian Income Tax Acts, South African and other case law, historical records and the writings of scholars. From the critical analysis of the practical person principle it was concluded that the anthropomorphised form of the principle gives rise to several problems that may be overcome by looking to the underlying operation of the principle. Further analysis of this operation, however, revealed deeper problems in that the principle undermines the doctrine of judicial precedent, legal certainty and the rule of law. Accordingly a practical approach to determining the source of income is undesirable and unconstitutional. Further research was conducted into the relative merits of a philosophical approach to determining source of income and it was argued that such an approach could provide a more desirable solution to determining source of income as well as approaching legal problems more generally.

This paper is trying to identify and further discover the possible characteristics and reasons for organizational restructuring in a Biotechnology company. The research methodology is firstly to analysis the internal/external environment and the senior management team profile, then to knew what is each factor’s influence made to the organization strategy, and according to the outcomed strategy direction, to understand the case study company various stages organizational structure origin and characteristic. Finally, compared with the theory and the biotechnology company structure characteristic which in the different organization stage, to discover the difference and the reasons. This study result finding that in the biotechnology company early established time, because of the industry has the lengthy lead-time on the research and development, this characteristic generally let the biotechnology company delay the demand of transfer from product development function to departmentalize, thus product development function is very much likely dispersed in separate and different technical units. In the stage as biotechnology company research oriented, the most crucial challenge of company is to set up the research and development ability, the research and development ability strong or weak will directly affect the value of biotechnology company, therefore very early start to establish the research related departments, and these departments finally will early mature than any other departments. In addition, in the research and development related organizational structure, extremely possibly use the "matrix project management structure” which can simultaneously satisfy both technical department and other sides. But regarding the best organizational structure to the whole biotechnology company, will possibly use the “hybrid matrix structure” which can simultaneously mixed the organizational structure characteristic advantage of function type (non-R&D part) and the matrix type (research part). In the organizational restructuring stage, because of the effect of domestic investor’s nearsightedness, a Biotech company begins to pursue any method or opportunity to raise the internal effectiveness. The laboratory will be the first one to review for effectiveness improvement possibility for its restructuring purpose. After all these attempts and restructuring process, the non-core business is outsourced to others for a more effectiveness- and mechanical-oriented organization. At last, this empirical research shows 3 managerial meanings as followings: A. The core of the restructuring for a newly start up Biotech company is the mechanism of research and development change. B. The research-oriented Biotech company needs to maintain the innovative development momentum excepts pursue the effectiveness. C. The start-up research-oriented Biotech company’s organizational restructuring breakthrough point lies in the first launch of commercialized product.

The thesis deals with the topic of corporate social responsibility emphasizing especially its spatial aspects and the impact on regional development. It aims to discover the spatial pattern of the so-called socially responsible firm activities in Czechia including the motivations for choosing this pattern, and to assess the importance of these activities for regional development. Particularly, it aims to present the concept of corporate social responsibility from a geographical point of view. The empirical research using the case of Czechia is structured into two phases. The first phase, based on an extensive research of internet-based sources and a questionnaire survey among selected corporations, explores the institutional context of corporate social responsibility in Czechia and follows the activities of particular firms including their spatial strategies. The second phase, using intensive research in two Czech micro- regions (Broumovsko and Červenokostelecko), particularly in-depth interviews with representatives of selected firms, provides deeper insight into the topic, reveals the motivations of firm behavior regarding social responsibility and sheds light upon the importance of these activities for development of the respective region. The dissertation look into the question what social firm has a impact on the social integration of people with mental diseases. It is divided into theoretical part, profiles of surveyed organizations and practical part. In theoretical parts are offered definitions of the various authors about social integration, social firms, persons with mental illness. Definition of approaching the issue. There are also published theories, which were subsequently verified in the empirical work. Brief profiles of organizations includes two social firms and one sheltered workshop. In empirical part was a qualitative research aimed at answering research questions. They were directed to full the objectives of the work. The main method in this case were semi-structured interviews. Work leads to knowledge, some of which support the theoretical ssumptions about the importance of social integration firm. However, some theoretical knowledge about the importance of social integration, were not confirmed by the results of empirical research. The diploma thesis focuses on social enterprises and their use of marketing tools for their communication. In its first part the field where they operate within the Czech Republic is laid out including the legislative setting. Since the concept is relatively new here, approaches and inspiration from abroad are a cited. The part dedicated to marketing introduces different approaches to marketing presentations and to the overall communication of social enterprises and social firms. The outcome of this was to portray the possibilities of their communication with their target audiences. The research itself looks at the communication of social enterprises from several viewpoints. First of all it aims to show the approach taken by the subjects of social economy themselves. This is done through questionnaires and content analysis of documents. Also the view on the matter is expressed through an interview with a consultant of NESsT, an organization which deals with the theme of social entrepreneurship. The last angle, which is represented by a questionnaire for a selected segment of the public looks at their view of social enterprises and firms and their communication.

By using the cross-sectional data from the World Bank Enterprise Survey, this dissertation selects a sample of over 3000 firms from 16 Central and Eastern European countries during the 2008 financial crisis, to assess (1) How effective priori classifications are to identify financially constrained and unconstrained firms in times of economic recession (2) What the main robust determinants are at the firm and country-level that affect SMEs' degree of financing obstacles (3) What experiences and lessons we can learn from 2008 crisis to combat with 2020 and future emerging recession. Our evidence indicates that during the economic crisis happened in 2008, size, industry, ownership and EU dummy are useful priori classifications while distinguishing firms' different degree to financing troubles, although some of other priori classifications appeared on other literature are ineffective. Smaller firms, foreign-owned and firms in manufacturing are more likely to report the financing trouble and have less access to formal sources of finance. However, government-owned firms and firms with adequate educated workers are less likely to be financially constraint. The thesis deals with social entrepreneurship and its potential for integration of marginalized social groups to the labour market. Social economy and its subjects - social enterprises - participate in the market not only to obtain profit but also in order to fulfill socially beneficial objectives. The topic of social economy and supporting its subjects is currently topical in the whole European Union. It presents an alternative way of fulfilling the needs of the society which flexibly complements the instruments of public redistribution as well as private sector. Also in the Czech Republic social economy is a real phenomenon which has recently attracted many practical as well as theoretical activities. The thesis focuses on social firms as one of the types of social enterprises that create jobs for persons that are somehow disadvantaged on the labour market with the objective of their social and economic integration. In the practical part the thesis presents results of a qualitative research aimed on the impacts of the employment in the social firm "Modrý domeček" in Řevnice of a family member with a health disadvantage on his/her family. The research was conducted with members of the disadvantaged employees' families.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze and then to compare two political subjects, namely ANO 2011 and Svoboda a přímá demokracie (previously Úsvit přímé demokracie). The aim of this work is to find out if these political subjects are new political parties and business firm parties according to necessary criterions. The main point of the business firm party is political marketing and political strategies for campaigns of these parties. That is the reason why this diploma thesis makes analyze of marketing strategies in parliamentary elections at the year 2013 and 2017. The main aim is to figure out if both parties works and act as marketing product that follows the rule of supply and demand. Or, if parties work as enterprise which benefits from state subsidies. Thank to this research I possible to see the differences between these two political subjects and others established political parties in the Czech Republic. The research proved that ANO 2011 and Svoboda a přímá demokracie (previously Úsvit přímé demokracie) are new political parties and even are business firm parties.
