However reaching of long-term goals requires for fundamental changes and most of them will be technically, culturally and politically difficult. Universities as centres of innovations and learning must be in the very front of this development. Sustainable development is the current context in which higher education must focus its mission. The challenge of sustainable development is faced by universities in different manner beginning with the aim to act as environment-friendly company to formulation of principles and signing declarations while establishing totally new institutions or focusing current mission and management of the university on search of sustainability. All of this leads to conclusion that management of universities becomes one of the most important problems. Universities might find themselves in danger if they don’t adapt to changing environment and new challenges more rapidly. What they have in common is that they originally come from a different country than Sweden, that they study or have studied at a Swedish university and that they speak and understand the Swedish language well. The survey shows how ethnicity and identities are created and made visible in certain situations, and that both the Swedish language and time in Sweden are important factors for understanding norms and codes. The material is collected by me intervjuing individuals that falls under the above discription. Then I have analysed the material and compared it with privious, similar studies.

Texto completo da fonteTo avert climate change, we must drastically reduce our CO2-emissions on a global level. The academic world has a great responsibility in conducting research to support the work towards reduced emissions. At the same time, there is a growing trend of an intensive academic flying with large CO2-emissions as a consequence. Universities must reduce their CO2-emissions from flying and begin to act as pioneers and promote a sustainable way of travelling. To support the efforts in reducing CO2-emissions within flight-intensive organizations, the FLIGHT research project was started at KTH in 2019 with the goal of creating and testing practical tools. In collaboration with master's students in the media technology program, a visualization tool, FlightViz, was developed to compile and visualize flight data of KTH's employees. Furthermore, the tool would come to be used to explore the needs of a wider user group within flight-intensive organizations, in order to map out what such a visualization tool should look like. The purpose of this essay was to reach out to employees working with sustainability at Swedish universities in order to gather information about their needs for a possible visualization tool such as FlightViz. We contacted 13 universities in Sweden, of which 9 were interviewed. In these interviews we discussed the sustainability work at their universities and the need for a tool such as FlightViz. We also showcased the tool and gathered responses and opinions on the selection of information and functionality within the tool. The results of the interviews were a number of concrete aspects about the functionality of the tool that we considered important for its usefulness: trends over time, per-capita measures, visualization of destinations and a number of important groupings of the data . We considered this functionality to be of the most importance in the further development of the FlightViz tool. We are facing major challenges in reducing our emissions globally and a lot must be done at all levels of society. Within flight-intensive organizations, part of the solution may be improved opportunities for visualizations and access to other tools for moving from data to practice. This essay helps to identify the needs and prerequisites of employees within sustainability at Swedish universities in order to help work towards reducing emissions within flight-intensive organizations.

Texto completo da fonte1 januari 2010 träder förordning 2009:907 i kraft. Denna förordning medför krav på svenska statliga myndigheter att införa ett miljöledningssystem (MLS). Med anledning av detta avser denna studie att utifrån förutsättningar som ligger till grund för en lyckad integrering av MLS bedöma hur Uppsala universitet på bästa sätt kan möta dessa krav. Efter genomgång av litteratur har fyra faktorer som anses vara betydande för integreringsprocessen valts ut. Dessa är; anpassning av MLS till andra ledningssystem, ansvarsfördelning, kommunikation samt utbildning och kompetens. Dessa fyra variabler har sedan legat till grund för den analysmodell som har använts i syfte att strukturera empiri och analys. Studiens fallorganisation är Uppsala universitet vilket är intressant att studera då det i denna organisation tidigare gjorts försök att integrera ett MLS men utan framgång. Det empiriska materialet består av intervjuer med universitetets miljösamordnare och tre prefekter samt information från universitets hemsida. I det empiriska avsnittet tillkommer ytterligare tre variabler som visat sig vara betydande för integrering av ett MLS på universitetet, nämligen engagemang, resurser och kultur. I studien framkommer att det finns brister i samtliga variabler inom Uppsala universitet och att detta är en bidragande orsak till att integreringsarbetet tidigare misslyckats. Studien avslutas med förslag till förbättringar för att öka möjligheterna till en lyckad integrering av MLS.
A decree which takes effect from 1 January 2010 implies that Swedish government authorities must introduce an environmental management system (EMS). This study therefore intends to assess, based on the conditions that are prerequisites for a successful integration of an EMS, how the University of Uppsala can meet the requirements of the upcoming regulation. After studying the literature four variables considered to be of importance to the integration have been chosen.These are: adaptation to other management systems, responsibility distribution, communication as well as education and competence. These four factors are the base upon which the analysis model that has been used to structure the empirical and analytical chapters is built. An attempt to integrate an EMS has earlier been done at Uppsala University but failed, which is why this was chosen as the case organisation. The empirical material is based on interviews with the environmental coordinator and three prefects and also material from the university homepage. In the empirical chapter three variables are added as they prove to be of great significance to the integration of the EMS namely commitment, resources and culture. The result of the study shows that there are deficiencies in all of the variables at the university and that this has contributed to the earlier failed integration. The study concludes with suggestions of improvement to enhance the chances of a successful integration of EMS.

When Lithuania become the country of market economy, it particularly came more and more important than all social groups have to integrate into the economic society. The entrepreneurship is one of basic categories to integrate. We can characterize the entrepreneurship as the implementation of the new idea, which is invoked qualities of self –b sufficiency, proactive and similarly perseverance. The entrepreneurship education isn’t identical with the economic literacy, but these ground can match up rather closely. Entrepreneurship is ability to realize abilities, surrounding us. It is also closely conected with having competences for using stocks. Innovation is also part of succesfull entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is ability that can be learned and could be developed. It is extremely important to develop youth entrepreneurship, because it can be solvation of such social – econimie problems as: unemployment, depopulation, social activity and others. För att klara av konkurrensen har universitet aktivt börjat arbeta med varumärkesbyggande för att skapa starka varumärken. Den största delen av forskningen om varumärken har bedrivits på kommersiella organisationer och den forskning som finns om universitets varumärken har inte studerat svenska universitet. Denna uppsats vill öka kunskapen om vad ett svenskt universitets varumärke kan bestå av, vilken betydelse ett varumärke kan få och hur det byggs samt vilka problem som kan uppstå. För att lyckas med detta har en fallstudie bedrivits på Örebro universitet. Studien bygger på kvalitativ data, som erhölls genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer och visual card sorting methods. Data erhölls från 14 respondenter. Dessa respondenter representerar intressentgruppern studenter, fakulteten, ledningen, samarbetsorganisationer samt kommun/landsting då dessa är bland de mest betydelsefulla intressenterna för ett universitet. Denna uppsats kommer fram till att universitets varumärken är komplexa. Det finns flera olika faktorer som spelar in, kvalitet på utbildningar kan dock anses vara den enskilt viktigaste. Då universitet är tjänstevarumärke kan även mindre detaljer bli viktiga. Om ett universitet har ett starkt varumärke kan detta innebära många fördelar både för universitet och dess intressenter, tillexempel högre kvalitet och en bättre ekonomi. Det finns många risker och problem som kan uppstå när ett universitet arbetar med varumärkesbyggande. Dessa kan resultera i att varumärket skadas. Universitets varumärkesbyggande är således en balansgång då fördelarna med ett starkt varumärke måste väga upp kostnaderna och riskerna.
Competition to obtain students and resources has increased among the universities. To cope with competition the universities actively started to work with brand building to create a strong brand. The bulk of research on brands has however been conducted on commercial organizations and the research available on universities brands have not studied Swedish universities. The aim of this paper is to raise awareness of what a Swedish university's brand may consist of, the importance of the brand, how it is built and the problems that may arise. To achieve this a case study has been conducted on Örebro university. The study is based on qualitative data, obtained through semi- structured interviews and visual card sorting methods. Data was obtained from 14 respondents. These respondents represent different stakeholders of the university. The different stakeholders studied are students, faculty, management, co-operating organisations and municipality/province. These are the stakeholders considered the most important for a university. This paper concludes that university's brands are complex. There are several factors affecting the brand but the quality of education can be regarded as the single most important. A university is a service brand which means that also smaller details becomes important. If a university has a strong brand this can mean many advantages for both the university and its stakeholders, including higher quality and a better economy. However there are also risks and problems that may arise when a university is working with brand building. University's brand-building is thus a balancing act in which the benefits of a strong brand must outweigh the costs and risks.

Analysis was carried out of the university environment of marketing and the complex marketing situation, it was making a marketing strategy to increase emphasis on promotion of entrepreneurship at the university of lifelong learning program. The paper consists of three parts: the first part theoretical analysis of marketing operations of the university: conception and point, service-center of marketing, environment of marketing, strategy content. The second part focuses on marketing environment and complex. Situation analysis done by Dr. Vidmantas Tutlys, Raimonda Markeviciene, Jolita Butkiene and Rimvydas Jasinavicius. After analysis, the third part of the marketing strategy to promote entrepreneurship in Mykolo Romerio university, emphasizing lifelong learning program. The most important result of the entrepreneurial university strategy - to create a consistent stable operating an efficient strategy in the university and inspiring performance in all activities, basic - Lifelong Learning program.

Texto completo da fonteDenna uppsats försöker besvara frågeställningen varför en del studenter vid Karlstads universitet väljer att ta ut sin examen vid något annat lärosäte. Vi belyser bytesprocessen som leder respondenterna i undersökningen fram till ett faktiskt byte, från det att tanken föds, till att studenten etablerar sig vid ett nytt lärosäte. Med hjälp av djupintervjuer hittar vi anledningar till varför byten sker, antingen av praktiska skäl eller så är det tron att en examen från ett äldre lärosäte, med högre status, ger ett försprång in i karriären.
Utifrån teorier som valts inom exempelvis relationsmarknadsföring, image, kundnöjdhet och bytesbeteende- framför allt SPAT (Switching Path Analysis Technique) analyserar vi informationen och underbygger resultaten. Längs undersökningens gång har vi modifierat SPAT-modellen och lagt till flera variabler. Detta för att den ska passa in på just bytesprocessen hos högskolestuderande, vilket har givit oss en tydligare bild över processen.
Det framkommer tydligt under studiens gång att flera av studenterna väljer att byta universitet för att ta ut sin examen vid ett universitet med i deras ögon högre status. Många studenter har en tro att framtida arbetsgivare värderar examen från olika universitet olika högt. Även om många av respondenterna var nöjda med Karlstads universitet som lärosäte visar det sig att kundnöjdhet i detta fall inte automatiskt leder till lojalitet.

Texto completo da fonteAnalysis of the financial state support for students at Siauliai university was performed in the Master’s degree work. Dynamics of change in the number of students and structural changes were analysed. Means of the system of studies’ support in higher education, such as the student grants, loans, were analysed and were compared with other universities. The analysis of the funding for the university students, who participate in SOCRATES/ ERASMUS programme was performed. The order of getting and paying back the study loans was compared with credits, offered by commercial banks. Usefulness of the loans for paying the tuition fees was evaluated. The hypothesis of a scientific research, formulated by the author was confirmed that the loans for paying the tuition fees give practical benefit for students.

To explore the self-sufficiency and activeness of the residents during their residency and to find out their future plans. Methodology of the research. The anonymous questionnaire of residents, supervisors of residents and doctors, who graduated from Kaunas University of Medicine in 2003 – 2008. During the research 400 questionnaires were given to the residents, and 266 answers (66.5%) were got back, there were also questioned 40 supervisors of residents, and 40 doctors who had already finished their studies. The questionnaire included 10 points Likert scale (1 point is the lowest, 10 points is the highest), the specific questions had individual answers. Coming for their studies at Vilnius University, international students have to adapt themselves not only to the Lithuanian education system, but also to the Lithuanian culture. The subject of the paper is the cultural adaptation of international students at Vilnius University. The aim of the paper is to identify the characteristic features of the cultural adaptation of international students taking their degrees at Vilnius University. Texto completo da fonteThe goal of the final master project is to design Klaipeda University Naval Faculty. Referring to professional literature, historical analysis and XXI century analogues, firstly, it was decided to design the campus and only then detail the naval faculty in it. The territory for the university is chosen in Klaipeda, between “Baltija” shipyard and a castle place. A new concept for the territory is created. While designing the university port’s main problems are solved: 1. a clear mark between industry and heritage is created; 2. the old town is revived; 3. public access to Curonian lagoon is created; 4. the castle territory is returned to Klaipeda. The campus is designed regarding to the old town urban frame, view points, local architecture, aggregate plan, immovable special plan of the cultural heritage preservation and cultural value list. The faculty is designed in the western part of campus. It is composed of I and L form blocks. According to the contemporary teaching methods it was decided to choose frame construction for building, as it is easy to adjust for future teaching methods. The ground floor is for public, there are educational spaces above it. The detailed faculty is the dominant of the campus layout. The project is composed of analytic, investigative and designed parts.

La formation des professeurs influence les capacités professionnelles du jeune pédagogue social, sa culture pédagogique autrement dit : ses compétences. Objet d’analyse: Les compétences acquises des étudiants de la spécialité de pédagogie sociale à l’Université. Problème: Dans les documents de la stratégie de l’instruction nationale et internationale on présente les mêmes problèmes dans tout le système de l’enseignement supérieur. Or, on attribut les fonctions très importantes aux pédagogues sociaux dans tout le système de l’enseignement. L’institution du pédagogue social à l’école est nouvelle et on recherche un modèle pour les activités du pédagogue. Hypothèse: Le système de la formation du pédagogue social permet d’accepter les défits du système de l’enseignement moderne qui se reflètent dans les fonctions du pédagogue social. But : Analyse et évaluation des compétences des pédagogues sociaux. Tâches: 1. Découverte des particularités et du système de formation des pédagogues sociaux en Lituanie. 2. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the journalism education in Vilnius University from 1949 to 1991. Primary purpose is to review the main tendencies of soviet high education system and to research the processes of reorganizing the academic departments of Journalism studies. In addition to analyze the changes that took place in Journalism study programme, to represent the academic staff, to introduce the statistics revealing how many school-leavers wanted to enter studies of journalism and how many of them succeeded. The researcher used theoretical and empirical methods: comparative historical, data analysis, interview research methods. The majority of the information and data sources were found in the Archives of Vilnius University (legislations of the rectors, History and Philology Faculty’s protocols (it was reorganized to History Faculty in 1968) council and Journalism Institute’s sessions, personnel department files): it was the only valuable source providing the accurate information about Journalism studies and their development in 1949-1991. Such problematic system of the Lithuanian press scientific analysis has been influenced by concrete historical circumstances: soviet occupation, prohibitions, censorship. According to information, mentioned above, it is possible to state that analysis of “Siauliu Universitetas” newspaper, which was formed during the period of independence, is not only analysis of the current situation of the newspaper, but the perception of features, characteristic to the Lithuanian press as well as performed functions, development and etc. The Bachelor Degree Work deals with quantitative and qualitative analysis of genres of the newspaper “Siauliu Universitetas”, based on formation of genre classification of publications as well as analysis of its specification. Texto completo da fonteSyfte: Att skapa förståelse för hur utländska studenter uppfattar den kommunikation de får från universiteten och högskolorna inför och under utlandsstudier med hänsyn till olika kulturella skillnader. Teori: Den teoretiska referensramen i denna studie bygger på tre olika teorier och tidigare forskning. De tre teorierna är Shannon & Weavers (1963) Linjära kommunikationsmodell, Duncan & Moriartys (1998) Omfattningen av marknads- kommunikation samt Hofstede et als (2011) kulturteorier. Vetenskapliga artiklar inom kultur och kommunikation användes för att se hur universitetskommunikation ser ut i praktiken. Metod: Forskningen har bedrivits med en kvalitativ forskningsmetod som har en deduktiv ansats. För att få fram studiens resultat har två fokusgrupper genomförts med fyra deltagare i varje grupp, där en diskussion kring teman kultur och kommunikation fördes. Deltagarna är utländska studenter som studerar vid Södertörns Högskola i Stockholm under vårterminen 2016. Urvalet av deltagarna gjordes med ett bekvämlighetsurval där kontakt togs genom utskick av mail med inbjudan om deltagande i fokusgrupp. Slutsats: Studien har visat att samtliga utländska studenter uppfattar den kommunikation som de får från svenska universitet som effektiv, informativ samt att det är tydligt vem de ska ta kontakt med beroende på vad för sorts hjälp de behöver. Det har även visats att kulturella skillnader har måttlig påverkan på hur de uppfattar kommunikationen vid högskolan som organisation vilka alla är en del av.

Texto completo da fonteIn these days there is a great interest in organizational behaviour and in job satisfaction among all kinds of professions. Plenty of researches are made to measure job satisfaction and the influence of different aspect of work, such as pay, promotion, supervision etc. This study is one of the first attempts to establish job satisfaction among librarians of Lithuanian universities. The object of this study is to determine the conception of job satisfaction, to analyze the most important aspects of it and to survey librarians at the libraries of universities. The research was done in six biggest central libraries of Lithuanian universities. After estimating and comparing the data, weighty conclusions and recommendations were made. The librarians are satisfied with their jobs, but the line between satisfaction and dissatisfaction is very thin. Librarians are mostly satisfied with their immediate supervisors, co-workers, nature of work, operating procedures and with communication in the workplace. The dissatisfaction is though with pay, promotion, benefits and contingent rewards. These librarians who work for a longer time in the same library are less satisfied than these who work only for a short time here. Other differencies between job satisfaction and pay, education have no statistical significance. According to these findings recommendations can be made. Texto completo da fonteBegreppet intern kontroll har fått allt större fokus under de senaste åren, inte bara inom den privata sektorn utan även inom den offentliga verksamheten. Olika revisionsskandaler såsom exempel Enronaffären i USA, har resulterat i att debatten kring behovet av ökad kontroll växt. I samband med detta har regler och lagar trätt i kraft för att skärpa den interna kontrollen. Dessa lagar har även fått stor påverkan på flera företag och verksamheter i Sverige. Syftet med denna uppsats är att få ökad kunskap om begreppet intern kontroll, främst för en offentlig verksamhet, vad det har för betydelse och hur det används inom universitetets värld. Våra frågeställningar har varit: • Hur tolkar användarna i en universitetsmiljö begreppet intern kontroll? • Hur ser utformningen av den interna kontrollen ut på en fakultets olika institutioner? • Vilka modeller eller verktyg används för hanteringen av den interna kontrollen? Vi har ett kvalitativt angreppssätt där vi främst använt en mer hermeneutisk metod. Datainsamlingen har dels gjorts från olika dokument och dels genom intervjuer. Vi har studerat den interna kontrollen i praktiken på universitet i Sverige och har avgränsat oss till universitet med samhällsvetenskaplig fakultet. Vi har främst valt att närmare studera Stockholms universitet. Där har vi undersökt hur den interna kontrollen utformats på institutionsnivå. Undersökningen bygger på intervjuer med tre prefekter, en administrativ chef och en internrevisor samt sekundärstudier av dokumentation. Utifrån COSO-modellens ramverk har vi analyserat data från intervjuer och annan dokumentation. Prefekterna på institutionerna ger bilden av att intern kontroll som begrepp inte är något som ännu blivit institutionaliserat. Främst kopplas begreppet till den ekonomiska redovisningen och ekonomisk uppföljning. För prefekten är det idag svårt att få en övergripande bild över alla de olika regler som ska följas och uppgifter som ska uppfyllas över alla de ansvarsområden prefekten har. På en större institution eller där prefekterna saknar tid eller kompetens, är en kompetent administrativ chef nödvändigt för institutionerna ska kunna upprätthålla god intern kontroll. Ett problem är att prefekterna måste vara väl medvetna om att detta behov finns, eftersom det är prefekten som avgör vilka tjänster som ska tillsättas på institutionen. Även om det är en decentraliserad organisation är institutionerna hårt styrda av lagar och förordningar. Detta begränsar prefekterna att vidta åtgärder som de ibland anser nödvändiga för att styra och kontrollera verksamheten på ett effektivt sätt.

Problem of the investigation has been formulated: in what way and what impact the musical activity can exert on artistic individuality of future music teachers and to what extent this impact can be optimised. The model of the expression of artistic individuality of future music teachers has been created and substantiated both theoretically and empirically. The model encompasses the components of reflexivity, creativity, high artistic value and responsibility. Manifestations of artistic individuality in musical activity of future teachers and the level of expression of these manifestations, interrelations between components of artistic individuality and their dependence on the external factors (the type of higher education institution that provides different musical education (university, non-university) and the year the students are in, as well as internal factors (musical abilities, artistic experiences and recognition of the significance of values) have been revealed by the diagnostic examination. Higher education is now influenced by the need to change even its central functions and mindset – it is no longer sufficient to create and transfer knowledge, necessary for the development of knowledge economy. The performance of a university requires a refocusing from process to outcomes, notably in quest of societal benefit. It means that a university, seeking to operate in a changing environment, should behave in as socially responsible a way as society expects. The aim of this dissertation is to study social responsibility (SR) in the management of university research performance. The selected research strategy – it is the grounded theory which enabled to provide theoretically empirical data-based assumptions. The doctoral dissertation analyses the aspects of altering meaning and scope of the concept of SR, while showing the chronological development of the transformation of SR and types of SR. It also summarises studies, from SR of business to SR of the public sector. Then it analyses university SR and its types; the influence of SR on organisational culture at university; and introduces some examples of good university practice. The quality of services at library was analyzed applying the method of written standardized questioning (questionnare) and the method of sectional interview. The problem of the research was defined with that problematic questions like: why are the quality of library services relevant to students? How identify the most imortant elements, where students pay more attention valuating quality of library services? Where should be paid attention to improve library work? Final bachelor papework represented research analize of litarature sources in the first part. According to her results, describig the definition of services, basics services charakteristics, also common service quality conception, control and measurement models of service quality. Futhermore there is analyzed academical library the main purpose, university library services and identifies the modern library features. Also, final bachelor papework represented formalize group interview research and standardize questionnaire research in the practical part. So it is clear that higher education system needs a change. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka om det förekommer användande av piratkopierade program bland studenter på Karlstad universitet. Om det gör det, vad är anledningarna och hur ser de själva på sitt användande?
I uppsatsen studeras enbart programvara och inte annat upphovsrättsligt skyddat material, som film eller musik. Studien är en icke-slumpmässig statistisk undersökning. Resultat och slutsatser bygger på en kvantitativ undersökning, som genomförs på Karlstads universitet. Resultaten visar att det förekommer användande av piratkopierade program på Karlstads universitet. Den största anledningen till att använda piratkopierade program är rent ekonomisk. Det visar sig också att studenterna inte har några moraliska invändningar mot att använda piratkopierade program, dock är det endast ett fåtal, som kan tänka sig att piratkopiera program för att sälja och tjäna pengar.

Healthy lifestyle comprises healthy nutrition, hardening, physical activity, due rest, refusal from bad habits etc. The paper deals with a number of lifestyle aspects, causing largest attention of both Lithuanian and foreign researchers. Hypothesis is formulated: academic youth is not the healthiest part of population. Lifestyle analysis should confirm youth health problems, related with consumption of harmful substances, tend to passive way of living, unhealthy nutrition and stress. Subjective self-evaluation should prove students’ attitude towards healthy lifestyle. 120 2nd year students from Siauliai University participated in the study. Their profiles varied as follows: 40 students from Social Wellbeing and Disability Faculty, 40 from The Humanities Faculty and 40 from Technology Faculty. Questioning survey was used to examine lifestyle aspects of 2nd year students from Siauliai University. The first part of survey was used to find out students’ opinion on how important for human health are various factors and how he/she realizes them. The second part was used to assess students’ opinion on the most important health problems in the university he/she is studying. The third part asked the students to note how various health strengthening means are realized in practice in today’s Lithuania.
