OBJECTIVE: To determine the impact of the physical and social surroundings of the neighborhood, which are presented as facilitators or barriers for the social participation of Brazilian older adults. METHODS: The study was conducted in a probabilistic representative sample of the Brazilian population aged 50 years and older and who lived in urban areas (n = 7,935). The response variable was social participation, which was defined from two questions about activities performed with other persons: visited friends or relatives in their homes in the last 12 months (yes, no); went out with other persons to public places, such as restaurant, movies, club, park, in the last 12 months (yes, no). The explanatory variables included fear of falling because of defects in sidewalks, concern about the difficulty to get on a bus, subway, or train, difficulty to cross streets, and perception of violence in the neighborhood. Potential confounding variables included age, marital status, education level, self-rated health, living in an asphalted or paved street, time living in the municipality, and socioeconomic position score. Prevalence ratios and respective confidence intervals were estimated using Poisson regression. RESULT: Difficulty to cross streets presented an independent association with restricted social participation (PR = 0.95; 95%CI 0.93–0.98) among both women (PR = 0.96; 95%CI 0.92–0.99) and men (PR = 0.94; 95%CI 0.90–0.99). Concern about the difficulty to get on a bus, subway, or train was associated with the outcome only among men (PR = 0.95; 95%CI 0.91–0.99). The fear of falling because of defects in sidewalks and the perception of violence in the neighborhood were not associated with social participation. CONCLUSIONS: Urban characteristics that hinder the crossing of streets and accessibility to public transport can be inferred as important barriers for the social participation of Brazilian older adults.

Social enterprises are given special attention from a scientific and public policy point of view. In everyday life, we see them as organizations that can provide solutions to various social problems. From an academic perspective, they represent a new research topic with its own interdisciplinary nature. They have been examined mainly from the point of view of management and organizational culture. In terms of scientific analysis, the newly developed research area of social economy and social enterprises is still in the conceptualization phase. The theoretical and methodological framework for research measurements need to be finalized. In this study, we seek to answer the question of how social economy—in particular, the perception of social enterprises in international and Romanian literature—is changing as a result of economic and social changes in space and time. We examine the factors along which definitions of the social enterprise within social economy are attempted, and the indicators that facilitate the investigation of the social impact of social enterprises.

Abstract Associations between late-life social integration and health have been found to be reciprocal. The present study focuses on the direction of health predicting social integration as it is not yet fully understood how different aspects of health may affect social integration. Using two-wave data from a community-based sample (N = 413, mean age 80 at baseline), the present study investigates whether depressive symptoms, chronic health conditions, functional limitations, and self-rated health independently predicted multiple dimensions of social integration over two years. The results of multiple regression and path analyses indicated that self-rated health was the most consistent predictor for social integration over time as the other health measures predicted no or fewer dimensions of social integration. Subjective perception of health appeared to have greater implications for social integration over time than more objective health symptoms/conditions. These findings highlight the important role of subjective health for maintaining late-life social integration.

The study explores a group of university students' perceptions towards field trips and the effect on their educational, social, and personal development. Data was collected using questionnaires and it has revealed that participants' overall perception of field trips was positive. Findings showed that participants preferred certain aspects of the field trips, particularly those on gaining new experiences and the opportunity to apply what they have learned. It helped improve their knowledge, interest, confidence, communication skills, social training, and awareness of the world around them. However, the least liked aspects were the pre-and post- activities, group size and time allocation. Future studies may want to examine and compare a more varied sampling of students from various fields and perceptions of different genders.

We have become international, now we are a global country that cannot influence many aspects. The present generation cannot imagine life without social networks. The research focus on intergenerational comparison of the perception of social networks. We aim our attention at gender factor in Y generation. Generation Y, is the demographic group following Generation X. This generation as known as internet generation (iGen), Net generation or Generation 9/11. Generations Y are mostly baby boomers, children born in post-war years. It is generation who have used Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) since childhood. The aim of submitted paper is found out answers to two questions and confirm or reject the hypotheses. Two questions are how long have respondents spent time on the Internet? And what they use social networks? We have set a null hypothesis and its alternative. Null hypothesis is gender factor affects the perception of social networks. Alternative hypothesis is Gender factor does not affect the perception of social networks. We used to confirm or reject the hypothesis Chi – Square test via MS Excel. We expect gender factor affects the social networks.

This article examines the publications of the Russian scholars on sociological aspects of social time, which are poorly studied in the Russian and foreign literature. The author believes that they are the pioneers in the field of the sociology of time. Analysis is conducted in such concepts as past, present, and future time; their content and correlation; time as the transformation process; use of time and control over time»; time of an individual and time of the social system; biological time as a step towards social time. The beginning of the XX century indicated the organic correlation of the development of natural science and general science and social practice, activity. Most vividly such correlation manifested in the area of the perception of time, relation the time of publications presented in the article, which are ideologically connected with the social practice of the studies on time, and the origins of the theory of social time.  It is noted that the first sociological study on the budgets of time was conducted in Petrograd in the 1821 – 1922 by P. Sorokin. The authors tried to remain within the field of sociology, understanding sociology as a science about functionality and transformation of social systems, presented by the “submerged” into cultural-institutional environment subsystems of the subjects, their activity and relationships. The article focuses attention on the statements of scholars, which had conceptual significance for the science, as well as for solution of the real time-budget problems.

This paper aims to evaluate customer perceptions regarding the benefits generated by sustainability 4.0 in the banking sector through a survey. A structured questionnaire was developed with 55 factors divided into economic, social, and environmental dimensions. A total of 90 questionnaires were collected. Descriptive statistics and Kendall’s coefficient of agreement were used with the intention of measuring the degree of agreement or disagreement between bank customers’ responses. The results indicated a positive perception of customers regarding the relationship between sustainable practices and economic, social, and environmental aspects, with a relatively high agreement. The best-rated benefits were related to economic and environmental aspects, such as reducing service time and efficient use of digital resources. However, there was a diversity of opinions regarding social aspects, with some issues receiving lower ratings, especially related to the permanence of employees and the autonomy of elderly customers. This suggests concerns about the impact of technology on maintaining banking jobs and the accessibility of financial services for specific groups, such as the elderly. It is concluded that by focusing on customer perception, the study offers a holistic view of the implications of sustainability 4.0, going beyond traditional analyses focused on organizations.

Introduction. The present paper continues the line of research related to the various forms of anomie in Russian society. In the proposed study, individual forms of anomie manifestation are considered on the example of deviant behaviour of adolescents (students aged 13-17 years old) depending on the gender and mechanisms of its perception by teachers of educational institutions (mental representation of the phenomenon). The aim of the research is to identify the main forms of individual anomie (as deviant behaviour of adolescents) from the standpoint of the teachers' perceptions of student behavior (mental representation of the behaviour of adolescents, depending on the factor of their gender and deviant / prosocial type of behaviour).Methodology and research methods. To obtain sociological data, the following methods were used: questionnaire survey, focused interview, testing. Further, the obtained results were processed by mathematical processing methods (the Fisher analysis of variance (type III SS, polynomial effect)). The influence and interaction of gender factors and the type of deviant/ prosocial behaviour in adolescents (through the mental representation of this phenomenon by teachers of educational organisations) were considered. The current research involved 1643 students aged from 13 to 17 years old and 832 teachers. Results and scientific novelty. As a result of the conducted research, it was determined that the most pronounced forms of deviant behaviour of modern adolescents in the perception of teachers of educational organisations are smoking and absenteeism. This deviant behaviour of adolescents aged 13-17 years old can be considered as the manifestation of individual anomie (in the perception of teachers as “abnormal”). The structure of adolescents' deviant behaviour in the “deviant” group differs more from the structure of adolescents' behaviour in the “prosocial” group. The gender factor of the research participants has a significant impact on the structure of teachers' perception of the behaviour of adolescents in the group of “deviant” and “prosocial” types of behaviour. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time the authors of the study considered the deviant behaviour of adolescents as the manifestation of individual anomie. Moreover, for the first time, the authors investigated the structure of deviant behaviour of adolescents aged 13-17 years old (with differentiation by gender) and identified the features of the “norm” of behaviour of adolescents in the Russian Federation in the perception of teachers of educational organisations. This allows us to identify the system-forming factors, which influence the attribution of adolescent behaviour to the category of “norm/normality” (as manifestations of anomie), and to consider the mechanisms of teachers' mental representation of the “deviant/prosocial” type of student behaviour, depending on gender.

Abstract: Sustainable tourism destination management requires the simultaneous and multidirectional pursuit of interactions. One of these are tourists, which are structured differently, based on socioeconomic and psycho-formative criteria. Taking into account the general features of Generation Y, the study aims at analyzing their perception regarding social aspects demanded in sustainable tourism destinations in the case of Romania. The research is focuses on the survey method, which relies on a semi-structured questionnaire applied online in 2020. The answers were modeled, using data analysis tools or graphics functions in IBM-SPSS v.28. Study findings highlight the interesting social perceptions of Y tourists in Romania (RGY), with an emphasis on their desire for conflict-free destinations, to spend time with friends or family, but also to make carefully chosen friends. The perceptions regarding the acceptance of interactions with hosts varies by their socio-demographic characteristics, depending especially on the issues that require their active involvement. These reveal a predominantly interest on professional services, largely excluding creative activities for the acquisition of local traditions. In conclusion, RGY considers that their social inputs as neutral in the tourist areas. However, more attention should be focused on the management of tourism products, in order to come up with specific offers for a highly skilled, but stressed generation, as well as on finding ways able to boost through motivating solutions the young people's interest for social dimension of the sustainable tourism development.

Studies show that the ability to adequately perceive and prioritize its activities in time in elderly patients depends on the physical, intellectual and social activity, and other factors that determine the quality of life and promote productive aging. The purpose of this article is to familiarize professionals with notions of perception and cognition of time, as well as paradigms of time perception studies in psychology. The article also familiarizes the readers with foreign research aspects of time cognition, i.e, orientation in time, perception of time intervals, time perspective, and mental journey of elderly patients through time

Late 1970s New York, rife with fear of crime and low trust in government to keep people safe, was a fertile ground for civilian public safety activism, which channeled people’s anger at the city’s situation into action to change it. The Guardian Angels and Women Against Pornography (WAP) were two of the best-known examples of this trend. Though rarely taken up together, this article places them in dialogue with one another in order to examine how racial, gender, sexual, and economic anxieties influenced the perception and possibilities of anti-violence community organizations at this time. I argue that while the predominately young, male, and nonwhite Angels were seen as belligerent, WAP’s adherence to the state’s social norms of acceptable female activism and sexual reformism facilitated their broader acceptance. The same social hierarchies that colored perceptions of the two organizations also shaped the available sources of partnerships, legitimacy, and funding, incentivizing both groups to undermine the most radically inclusive aspects of their missions in order to secure the resources they needed to continue operating most effectively.

People often base their mobility decisions on subjective aspects of travel experience, such as time perception, space usage, and safety. It is well recognized that different groups within a population will react differently to the same trip, however, current data collection methods might not consider the multi dimensional aspects of travel perception, which could lead to overlooking the needs of large population groups. In this paper, we propose to measure several aspects of the travel experience from the social media platform Twitter, with a focus on differences with respect to gender. We analyzed more than 400,000 tweets from 100,000 users about transportation from Santiago, Chile. Our main findings show that both genders express themselves differently, as women write about their emotions regarding travel (both, positive and negative feelings), that men express themselves using slang, making it difficult to interpret emotion. The strongest difference is related to harassment, not only on transportation, but also on the public space. Since these aspects are usually omitted from travel surveys, our work provides evidence on how Twitter allows the measurement of aspects of the transportation system in a city that have been studied in qualitative terms, complementing surveys with emotional and safety aspects that are as relevant as those traditionally measured.

The paper is devoted to the analysis of ethical and existential grounds of a man’s social being through the philosophy of O. F. Bollnow. Actually his philosophy can be considered as the positive existentialism and thus it focuses on positive perception of society and history in their human dimension. The basic concept of the philosophy of Bolnow is «humanity». What is meant is the struggling through sense of danger, fear and vulnerability in risky environment of the modern civilization. To overcome all mentioned, «new defence» should be created, being uncovered by the following notions: «motherland», «hope», «gratefulness», «and festival». Social «chronotope» comes into existence in the identity of social environment and social time in their human (ethical and existential) understanding.

In this arts-based exploration, the author experiments with nonstandard time registers and perception via the possibilities opened up by the unconventional use of a handheld document scanner. Thanks to the technical configuration of the scanner, the artist is able to alter the time period spent on the different aspects of the object as it is scanned, creating images that alter our normalized perception of time. In addition, by directly scanning objects (rather than documents or images), the resultant scan is one of detailed ultraspecificity of parts of the object nearest to the scanner, while the remainder of the objects quickly fade to out-of-focus. Drawing especially on Bergson and Deleuze, the artist explores the theoretical implications of such unconventional duration and microperception.

Objective: to determine the impact of socio-demographic factors and characteristics of political and economic changes on corruption. Methods: the work uses the methods of comparative analysis, construction of conjugation tables, and the index method; the information base is the public opinion monitoring data in Vologda oblast, with 1,500 respondents filling in questionnaires at their place of residence. The sample is random and quota; representativeness is ensured by the proportions observed between the residents of settlements of different types, gender and age structure of the population; sampling error does not exceed 3 %.Results: manifestations of corruption have been the subject matter of scientific discourse for quite a long time, but the research approaches have been constantly expanding from the historical, legal, and economic points of view. The article considers corruption as a multidimensional phenomenon and analyzes it from the perspective of an integrative approach, which implies taking into account territorial aspects, socio-demographic factors, and the citizens’ perception of the political and economic situation in the country and in the region. The analysis of the assessment results of the public opinion about the corruption level in the region showed that the authorities and the health care system are the most susceptible to corruption. The assessment of the territorial prevalence of corruption showed that the corruption index values along the “center – periphery” line are higher in the regional center than in the districts. It was also revealed that differences in the socio-demographic characteristics insignificantly influence the perception of changes in the corruption level, unlike the perception of corruption depending on the economic and political situation in the region.Scientific novelty: Based on the analysis of the results of the corruption level monitoring in the region, it is shown that positive assessments of the political and economic situation are associated with an unchanged or decreased level of corruption perception. Hence, good and very good assessments of the economic situation were more often associated with a decrease in the corruption level last year.Practical significance: the identified links between corruption, socio-demographic, political and economic factors can serve as a basis for adjusting and improving anti-corruption policy at the regional and state level.

The article presents a review of domestic studies of social perception among teachers. The social and professional significance of this phenomenon for teachers; the relationship of gender and age, sociodemographic and individual psychological characteristics of teachers and individual mechanisms of social perception are described. Aspects of the relationship between the phenomenon of social perception and professional competence were identified. The studies of the phenomenon of social perception in future teachers were reviewed. The article also presents generalized data of studying the mechanisms of social perception. Particular attention was paid to the fact that the identification mechanism is included in the empathy mechanism. Reflection was defined as a professionally important quality for a teacher, stimulating the research, creative process, thereby leading the teacher to new tasks of professional activity and acting as the main means of supporting the subjectivity of students. Attraction was studied, mainly, on a wide sample without correlation with professional activity. At the same time, it was highlighted that this mechanism was identified as a factor in the development of moral and environmental values of the teacher. Despite a wide range of studies devoted to the phenomenon of social perception and its mechanisms, according to the results of a review of domestic studies of social perception among teachers, it was concluded that there is insufficient empirical study of the mechanisms of understanding and perception of the personality and behavior of a student among teachers as a result of professional stress, as well as a lack of research related with the possibilities of including social perception in preventive measures for the formation of professional stress.

Two fundamental aspects of cultural intuitive conceptions of time's passage - cyclic and continuous temporality - are here related to clinical psychopathology of post-traumatic stress in Brazil. People with predominantly cyclical cultural perceptions of time tend to see life and death as part of an eternal movement. Severity and persistence of mental trauma are not directly related to the magnitude of the catastrophe or even of the traumatic experience, but rather to the way they pervade the mind and to the roles they represent on it. Modern culture tends to produce individuals prepared to a highly complex world, running in a frantic rhythm and under constant pressure. Nearly all events must be anticipated, planned or controlled, and obsessive traits tend to be facilitated. However, in catastrophic, unpredictable events, when nothing can be done, these full-schedule people may show frailty and despair.Traditional communities seem capable to bear extremely high levels of aggression or suffering - in traumatic and catastrophic situations - without showing proportional signs of mental stress. While in the high social layers of modern communities an act of violence as an assault or rape may have serious and long lasting consequences, in everyday public hospital practice we come across victims of potentially traumatic events without any of the expected devastating effects on their mental life. Periodic dissociative rituals may have a role in their resilience.

News is an integral part of the life of a modern human. Viewing news sources and social media became the leading way people spend their free time in many countries. Some researchers state that audiences deliberately choose to read negative news. The information influence is psychological in nature. The development of digital technologies creates both opportunities and threats. The purpose of the study is to determine the structural components of the perception of negative news on the Internet and record their psychological content. The authors used a qualitative research method. Using a semi-structured interview, a maximally variable sample of respondents was surveyed. To process the interview data, thematic analysis was used. The study involved 13 people aged 20–45 years. This age category most actively consumes news content from the Internet. Data validity was achieved by meeting the criteria of structural justifiability, consistency of interpretive procedures, and referent adequacy. The study identified a multi-level model consisting of cognitive, emotional and psychophysiological aspects of the perception of negative news. The following negative impact of negative news on the mental sphere of life was established: intense negative emotional sufferings, depressed mood, disturbance of sleep, asthenia. When experiencing long-term negative emotional and psychophysiological symptoms, the respondents use the strategy of avoiding and rejecting negative news.

The article presents the introduction of online learning at universities in Poland, which was a solution aimed at preventing, countering and combating COVID-19. Attention was drawn to the perception of this change by the stakeholders, i.e. students. The analysis examines students’ concerns regarding the implementation of this form of learning in selected areas related to access to technology, the organization of classes, and the participation in them, social interactions and administrative activities. The aim of the research was also to ascertain students’ opinions on the consequences of the implemented change and on the actions aimed at facilitating the transition to online learning undertaken by the authorities and university employees. The research was conducted with the use of an electronic survey questionnaire. The responses of 189 full-time university students were analyzed. Based on the results of the research, communication between students and university authorities, as well as the involvement of participants in the process of change were considered as key elements in the implementation of online learning. Among the important activities there were those that enable participation in online learning (provision of equipment, programs, licenses) and those that support learning (access to library resources). As regards the latter, conclusions were formulated concerning the planning of teaching, i.e. the content and the way of transferring knowledge.

This quantitative study investigated the perceptions of student-led interest time (SLIT) among secondary school students and its influence on social skills and interaction. Conducted at Balite National High School in San Francisco, Surigao Del Norte, the research utilized a descriptive research design to analyze the impact of SLIT on various aspects of student development. Purposive sampling was employed to select participants from the school's population of 365 students. The findings revealed that SLIT positively affects engagement, learning outcomes, skill development, and social connections within the classroom. Students perceive SLIT activities favorably, expressing enjoyment and recognizing its benefits for personal growth and relationship-building. However, there are identified areas for improvement, particularly in aligning SLIT activities with student preferences and interests. Demographic analysis indicates a diverse representation of students across different age groups and grade levels, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of perceptions across various developmental stages and educational backgrounds. Statistical tests demonstrate significant differences in perception based on age and grade level, highlighting the influence of demographic factors on students' views of SLIT. This study underscores the importance of SLIT in promoting holistic student development. It suggests that efforts to tailor SLIT activities to meet student needs and interests better can further optimize its effectiveness. Further research, including post-hoc analyses, is recommended to identify specific age groups or grade levels that exhibit significant differences in their perceptions of SLIT, aiding in the refinement of SLIT implementation strategies.

Research in the neuroscience of pain perception and visual perception has taken contrasting paths. The contextual and the social aspects of pain judgements predisposed pain researchers to develop computational and functional accounts early, while vision researchers tended to simple localizationist or descriptive approaches first. Evolutionary thought was applied to distinct domains, such as game-theoretic approaches to cheater detection in pain research, versus vision scientists' studies of comparative visual ecologies. Both fields now contemplate current motor or decision-based accounts of perception, particularly predictive coding. Vision researchers do so without the benefit of earlier attention to social and motivational aspects of vision, while pain researchers lack a comparative behavioural ecology of pain, the normal incidence and utility of responses to tissue damage. Hybrid hypotheses arising from predictive coding as used in both domains are applied to some perplexing phenomena in pain perception to suggest future directions. The contingent and predictive interpretation of complex sensations, in such domains as ‘runner's high’, multiple cosmetic procedures, self-harm and circadian rhythms in pain sensitivity is one example. The second, in an evolutionary time frame, considers enhancement of primary perception and expression of pain in social species, when expressions of pain might reliably elicit useful help. This paper analyzes the phenomenon of the new in the context of social media using the interpretative phenomenological approach based on interviews with social media users. The new, which is mostly used as an adjective (a property), in this paper is treated as a noun (an object), a phenomenon of perception described in three aspects: (1) as the future in presence, (2) as the opposite, (3) as a value. Usually, the new is associated with time, but in the context of social media perception, it rather appears as a value-saturated phenomenon. Two opposing attitudes can be distinguished: on the one hand, the new is seen as a desired progress, on the other hand, it includes an alienation from the being. This alienation also prevents us from seeing the new media as it is.

Introduction. The perception of time at student age is an important component for successful adaptation to other conditions of education, for socialising in a new social circle and for acquiring knowledge necessary for further professional development. Learning conditions in the modern world are generally similar; however, students from different countries are bearers of differing cultures. The aim is to compare the characteristics of subjective perception of time in terms of its past, present and future by Vietnamese and Russian students. Materials and methods. The sample encompassed a number of university students from Vietnam and Russia. The total number of respondents was 199 (105 Vietnamese students and 94 Russian students). To achieve the set goal, the psychosemantic method and the “Semantic time differential” method were applied. The statistical data processing methods involved the arithmetic mean and Mann-Whitney U-test. Results. The research results revealed certain differences in subjective perception of time between the students from Vietnam and Russia at the level of statistical trend (p≥0.05) – as concerns future perception peculiarities and time structure perception. Conclusion. The subjective perception of time by Vietnamese and Russian students is influenced by the society and culture: the Vietnamese society is less exposed to Western ideas of time management, therefore their perception of time structure is less meaningful; at the same time, the future and the past are deemed to be equally important due to the ancestor cult and placing importance on connection with the departed. The power and vividness of manifestation of different time aspects is also culturally conditioned since it is not customary in Southeast Asia to express one’s emotional manifestations vehemently.

This study aims to describe the teachers’ perception on the implementation of the assessment process in 2013 curriculum. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of the research are the Elementary school principals and elementary school teachers in Denpasar. Research data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation which were analyzed descriptively by using the interactive technique. The interactive analysis was done by collecting data, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of data analysis showed that the teachers prepared the lesson plans prior to implementing the teaching and learning processes in the classroom. The lesson plans consist of the rubric of attitude assessment, knowledge assessment, and social assessment. The attitude competence assessment consists of spiritual and social attitudes. The assessment of the attitude competence is done by doing observation, self-assessment, peer assessment, and teacher's journal. The assessment of knowledge competence was done by administrating written test, oral test, and also written an assignment. The students’ competencies were assessed by conducting performance assessment. The results of the assessment were written descriptively on the students’ learning report by describing the student's ability to detail. Most teachers stated that the assessment in 2013 curriculum is quite good because it provides an attitude assessment, including the aspect of the spiritual and social, knowledge aspects, and skills aspects. There were some obstacles found by teachers in conducting the assessment, such as, limited time that teachers have in observing students' social attitudes and writing the results of the assessment that require a lot of time to describe the students' abilities.

The article presents a comparative study of social perception of a medical professional in the mass consciousness using social media monitoring and telephone survey. The aim of the study is to develop methodological recommendations for analysis and information policy on the formation of the medical professional image in the mass consciousness. The basis of the study is a sample of posts published by Muscovites in social media containing keywords associated with physician and nurses. In addition, another survey on people’s associations with these professions was conducted in order to compare the image in social media to the image held in the mass consciousness. The authors manually coded subsample of the respondents’ posts and articles from social media. The authors’ Python code was additionally used to analyse figures and lemmas. The study has allowed to describe the main elements of the specialists’ image among the population, including the perception of “typical” physical characteristics for a health care worker, professional and personal qualities, and the relationship between the image of a physician and a nurse, where the former usually has a higher status than the latter. The study has revealed similar characteristics, but their different quantitative representation in the survey and analysis of social media, which has allowed to recommend social media analysis for performing qualitative analysis of the population’s opinions. At the same time, quantitative monitoring of the image in the online environment is also seen as useful due to the significant influence of social media on the formation of opinions in the mass consciousness. Such monitoring may be used as a way to get feedback within the framework of the image formation management process.

Proponents of hay milk farming claim several benefits on an ecological and economic level, while little about the social aspects has been studied so far. The present study serves as a first exploration of certain aspects of social sustainability from the perspective of hay milk farmers. The results of an online survey of 284 Austrian hay milk farmers are presented. The statistical analyses included Fisher’s exact tests (contingency tables), Kendall’s rank correlations and a two-step cluster analysis. The sampled farms show positive attitudes toward the work in agriculture (e.g., contribution to the cultural landscape) and are mainly satisfied regarding several job aspects (e.g., occupational diversity), but to a great extent dissatisfied with others (e.g., social recognition, time resources). The critical stressors are the agricultural policy, the economic situation, too little time for partnership or family life as well as bureaucracy and work overload. Multiple medium associations between aspects of well-being are revealed. Obvious and meaningful relationships between farm characteristics and aspects of well-being are scarce. The cluster analysis does little to help explain the characteristics of well-being within the patterns of farms. It therefore seems that the perception of the investigated aspects of well-being on hay milk farms is mostly formed individually and is only associated with the farms’ characteristics to a certain degree.

Writing skill, compared to the other three language skills, namely listening, reading and speaking, tends to be more difficult and time-consuming to teach, and has not enough attention to teach and practice. Collaborative writing therefore can become one of the ways to help students develop their writing skills which reinforce them to produce a proper text. Hence, this study aims to investigate teachers’ perceptions and challenges in implementing collaborative writing in the EFL classroom. The study employed a phenomenology research design with five senior high school teachers who have experienced in applying collaborative writing in their teaching process. This study was conducted by using the interview section as a single data collection technique. In terms of teachers’ perception in utilizing collaborative writing, the findings revealed that teachers mentioned some positive perceptions toward the implementation of collaborative writing seen from four aspects; social, psychological, academic, and assessment. Meanwhile, in terms of challenges, it is classified into three segments; learners, instruction, and classroom management.

The substantive data sources were texts on social media in which there were objects and data of this research. The data were collected by using the observation method equipped with note-taking techniques and recording techniques. Data were analyzed by applying the contextual analysis method. We applied the contextual analysis method or the extra lingual analysis method because of the cyberpragmatic perspective of this research with a virtual external context as the main determinant of its meaning. Before the analysis, data that were classified and typified properly were triangulated with the expert and consulted on relevant theories. The results show that the social–societal context element changes occur in the following context elements: (1) setting, (2) participants, (3) ends, and (4) instrumentalities. Setting element changes occurred in the aspects of venue, time, and atmosphere. The instrumental element changed in the aspects of the kinds of tools and the range of errand communication. The participant element changed in the aspects of perception of gender, age, and social status, and the last element, changed in the aspects of monodimensional goal manifestation and multidimensional goal manifestation.

One of the darkest aspects of U.S. history and culture is encapsulated in crime perpetrated by law enforcement officials. In fact, police abuse of power has long been a footnote in analyses of governments' monopoly on legitimated violence. The history of modern policing itself indicates long-standing concern with excessive, sometimes brutal, control over citizens by law enforcement agents. Such concerns have been articulated variously over time by the public, academics, the press, and within law enforcement ranks. Much of this concern turns on perception, for police malfeasance is notoriously shrouded behind a “blue wall,” well-meaning law enforcement officials are genuinely interested in public perceptions of their services, and news of police malpractice flares selectively and variously across time.

Green spaces are important parts of urban infrastructure. COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown periods around the world have confirmed benefits that people derive from using green spaces for their physical and mental health. Green spaces need to meet the needs of users so that people can use them and benefit over time. It is important to consider users' perceptions and attitudes. User input proves beneficial in improving management practices. We investigated the differences in attitudes and perceptions of respondents from different large settlements in Croatia towards green spaces. Data on the use and perception of green spaces were collected in the first lockdown period in Europe and processed the part of the questionnaire on attitudes and perceptions towards green spaces. People have similar, mostly positive perceptions of green spaces regardless of the size of the settlement. Differences were found in the perception of disadvantages and needs related to the management of green spaces. This is the first study of the attitudes and perceptions on a large spatial scale in Croatia, so the results are exploratory and important. This study contributes to research on the social aspects of green spaces by investigating the influence of environmental context on perceptions and attitudes.

The Internet has a significant impact on the perception of time and its organization. There is a growing body of literature that recognizes the importance of measuring social time in relation to the virtual communities of social media. The dynamics of communication in virtual communities largely depend on the time strategies that shape the content plan of a particular medium. Based on contemporary theories such as the concept of ‘timeless time’, we analyze the features of the temporal characteristics of the Internet, considering the multiple dimensions of time in virtual communities. This study aims to identify time strategies depending on their types (e.g., belonging to the certain platform, or target audience). The research is based on posts from 99 politicized virtual communities on the Vk.com and Telegram platforms in 2022. We employ heatmaps and combine them with cluster analysis. As a result, certain patterns of temporal strategies within communities became apparent, depending on the hour, day of the week, and month. We also establish a connection between time strategies and the event context of 2022. This article may be of interest to sociologists, political scientists, and researchers in cultural and communication studies who are interested in applied aspects of social time research.

AbstractThe late Hellenistic period is a time of deep entanglement, interconnectedness and complexity. The breakdown of local political systems and the unification of economic spaces had strong repercussions on the perception and expression of several aspects of the cultural identities of local communities. Rapid waves of change can be observed in local religious identities and in the Etruscan sacred landscape: cult buildings were destroyed, sacred places abandoned or replaced by residential areas, and new organisational forms of managing cults appeared; Latin names and new iconographies were given to traditional deities in public religious buildings dedicated to the official religion, while private and popular worshipping polarized around salvation cults. Changes in the sacred landscape regarded both topographic aspects, such as the visibility of cult sites and their connections to settlements, as well as social aspects, such as the patronage of sacred buildings. This paper proposes to employ a relational approach in order to understand changes in the sacred landscape. It analyzes the geographic and social components of the Etruscan sacred landscape by means of Social Network Analysis (SNA), and it does so by looking at the landscape in its entanglement to the archaeological and epigraphic record between 350 and 80 BCE.

In recent centuries, it has been cholera, spanish influenza, SARS. Over the last two years, she discovered a new, hitherto unknown disease. Covid-19 disease has occurred. Its origin is not complete known. Some claim, that the disease occurred in humans after first occurred in animals. Others believe it is a virus of artificial origin. He was detected for the first time in 2019 in China. Originally however, the Chinese epidemiological problem spread to almost the end of winter 2020 around the world and has grown to the scale of a global pandemic. Maybe at least the pandemic affected island isolated states, or some states with an authoritarian regime, that closed the borders. By the end of January 2022 at this pandemic has killed more than 5 and a half million people on the planet. Given the situation, which has not been in the world for many decades, has meant more than just multiple tragedy and a significant economic downturn, but also the need ethically and economically reflect the many common practices considered to date days for invariant. We look at the problem through the prism of social philosophy. There are basically three approaches: a) negative (liberal) perception of freedom, b) positive perception of freedom (Spinoza, Hegel, etc.), c) freedom as a game. We believe that many circumstances need to be taken into account in order to meet the necessary conditions for the introduction of relatively strict countermeasures. Introduction: Presbycusis is a hearing impairment linked to the normal, natural and psycho-sensory ageing of the auditory organ as a whole. Several epidemiological studies have been carried out on this subject in developed countries. In Frenchspeaking Africa, presbycusis has received very little attention in the ENT literature. The aims of this study were to estimate the frequency of presbycusis and to describe the sociodemographic, clinical and audiometric factors involved. Patients and Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out in the ENT Department of the Fann Hospital, during a humanitarian mission to distribute hearing aids. The study included all cases of presbycusis. The inclusion criteria were patients aged 50 and over with a deafness of bilateral and symmetrical perception on tonal audiometry. Sociodemographic, clinical, audiometric and therapeutic data were recorded. The data was analysed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) version 20. Results: Presbycusis represented 14.2% of patients who consulted for hearing loss. The sex ratio was 1.3 and the mean age was 68.88, with extremes of 50 and 95 and a standard deviation of 9.57. The consultation time was 9.19 years. Patients with moderate hearing loss accounted for 51.6%. Of the presbycusis patients, 82.03% were fitted with hearing aids. Conclusion: Presbycusis will increase at the same time as the life expectancy of our populations. Its treatment relies on hearing aids, which are expensive, hence the need for public authorities to get involved

Abstract Delays in diagnosis due to low Breast Cancer awareness are widespread in Brazil maybe owing to ineffective strategies to raise attention on early diagnosis. As a proxy of collective interest in BC screanning (BCS) we studied the monthly accesses to BC and BCS webpages in INCA's website along 48 months. A log analyzer built a time serie (2006-2009) of BC and BCS monthly means, which oscilations were studied by analysis of variance (ANOVA). We found significant increasing accesses to BC and transient “attention peaks”. Enlargement in BC/BCS differences along all period were caused by increasing accesses to BC and decreasing/minor/stable oscillations to SBC pages. These results are consistent with previous reports on increasing interest to BC contrasting with indifference on BCS. In the context of an exploratory study, we discussed some aspects: weakness of a “prevention culture”; lack of confidence in health system and screening programs; “celebrity effect” in the context of media framing; collective perception of risks heightened by perception of social vulnerability. Findings suggest that culture-tailored communication strategies would be necessary to inform Brazilian people about BCS. Future research is needed to study social perceptions and constructions on BC topics.

The destructive features of the present time are the intensive processes of globalization including not only material but also the spiritual spheres of human activity and the great migration of people. Therefore the difficulties of expression of communicative aspects of the language, culture and traditions arise. The problem is actual not only in social environment but in the surroundings of specific societies of production or business. To achieve good operation results is possible not only because of the effective management but with the help of the interaction of the mentioned factors (language, culture, traditions) and the estimation of the specific communication aspects as well. The aim of this article is to appraise the language as the most important strategic part of the culture, communication context, and specific aspects of the language usage paying special attention to the traditions and multilingual conditions. The regulations of the main destructive method as the language perception strategy were used for the better understanding of the semantic shade of meaning. The language is important as the unique space of the thinking expression for the deconstruction as the text perception strategy. The use of deconstruction method allowed the exposure of the language semantic shades of meaning. The main ethno-lingual principles were also based upon. The investigation results can be used to organize the study process, to examine the problems of ambivalence and national identity arising from verbal skills, multilingualism types and situations.

The article clarifies the EU population's perception of the war in Ukraine and identifies its cross-cultural features. The findings are based on the data of the survey “EU's response to the war in Ukraine”, conducted in April 2022 by Ipsos European Public Affairs at the request of the European Commission. The target population of the study is the citizens of the European Union member countries, aged 15 years and over (N = 26053). In the perception of the Russian-Ukrainian war, informational and activity-related aspects were distinguished. The first one included indicators of informational involvement (frequency of following and discussing news about the war in Ukraine) and trust in various sources of information (national authorities, European authorities, NGOs, journalists, and social media). The second one consisted of indicators of approval of measures announced by the EU (economic sanctions against Russia and Russian oligarchs, financial support to Ukraine, military and humanitarian aid, the ban on broadcasting in the EU of state-owned Russian media, welcoming in EU people feeling the war) and satisfaction with reactions of main actors (national authorities, the EU, NATO, UN, USA, citizens of own country). For cross-cultural comparison of various aspects of Russian-Ukrainian war perception, several macro indicators have been constructed. Common characteristics of the war perception in EU countries were a high frequency of following news and discussing it with friends and relatives, approval of main EU measures aimed at supporting Ukraine; great satisfaction with the reaction of the main actors to the events in Ukraine. People do not equally trust various sources of information and the ranking of sources according to their credibility has cross-cultural differences. The most reliable sources were national and EU authorities and fewer people trust NGOs and journalists. Social media were widely untrusted. At the same time, there are two main patterns of trust in various sources. The first one is a combination of distrust in social media with high trust in other sources. The second one is distrust in most or even all sources of information.

Human relations are driven by social events—people interact, exchange information, share knowledge and emotions, and gather news from mass media. These events leave traces in human memory, the strength of which depends on cognitive factors such as emotions or attention span. Each trace continuously weakens over time unless another related event activity strengthens it. Here, we introduce a novel cognition-driven social network (CogSNet) model that accounts for cognitive aspects of social perception. The model explicitly represents each social interaction as a trace in human memory with its corresponding dynamics. The strength of the trace is the only measure of the influence that the interactions had on a person. For validation, we apply our model to NetSense data on social interactions among university students. The results show that CogSNet significantly improves the quality of modeling of human interactions in social networks.

This article sets out to explore how and whether the physical, social and conceived conditions in schools facilitate or disrupt support work aimed at improving student learning and preventing social exclusion. This is accomplished by comparing student support practices in the common areas of two newly renovated secondary schools built in two different time periods. The focus is on the student support staff’s (exemplified by student welfare officers and school hosts) enactment of support for students’ learning and well-being. This enactment takes place in a designed school environment, where teachers and support staff appropriate spaces for educational purposes in various ways. The interview and observational data come from two qualitative case studies. A spatial analysis perspective is used to investigate the physical, social and conceived aspects of space. The case schools, located in two municipalities, were originally built in the 1910s (Maple Grove) and the 1960s (Pine Bay). Both schools serve mixed to low SES (socio-economic status) communities and have organized student support functions in the schools’ corridors, cafeterias, recreation areas and other common spaces. These functions include the school host, the student coach and the student welfare officer. The ways in which the support staff claim the locales show that they transcend the initial design functionality by appropriating spaces for their everyday practices. Their task perception thus delineates a certain professional territory, a task perception that is taking place, so to speak. The results show that this professional territory can vary, even among those in the same profession. The support functions expand their professional territory by being mobile in the school building and thereby creating more and larger surfaces for social interactions with students and other support functions.

Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) are the cognitive skills that mathematics should apply to fulfil current needs. Unfortunately, Mathematics achievement in Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) has shown that the thinking ability of Malaysian pupils still needs improvement. Identifying pupils' perceptions of implementing HOTS in mathematics is essential. Thus, this study was conducted to determine Year Five pupils' perception towards implementing HOTS in terms of attitude, readiness and belief in Mathematics learning, as well as the differences in these three aspects based on gender. The survey study involved 142 Year Five pupils at a Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) in Johor Bahru district. The instrument used in this study is a questionnaire. The data was analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 27. The descriptive statistical analysis results found that pupils’ perception towards HOTS in Mathematics in terms of Attitude and readiness are moderate. At the same time, pupils' perception towards HOTS in mathematics in terms of belief is high. The Mann-Whitney U test results found a significant difference in pupils’ attitudes towards HOTS in Mathematics based on gender. However, this study showed no significant difference in student’s readiness and belief towards HOTS in Mathematics based on gender. This study brings implications for educators in schools to realise the importance of modifying HOTS teaching practices by considering pupils’ perceptions.

This research focuses on the evaluation of social interaction and support methods for computer-supported collaborative learning over the period of one semester. Specifically, there are three main topics for investigation: first, the subjective evaluation of social interaction and support methods, second, the students' perceptions of these over time, and third, the correlations between social interaction and support methods. Results indicate a specific pattern regarding important aspects of social interaction indicating possible problems in group dynamics (especially relating to taking responsibility). This evaluation pattern remains nearly constant over time. Furthermore, correlation analyses show strong connections between the design of group work and group dynamics, indicating a positive influence of support methods on problematic dimensions of social interaction. As this relation is strongest during the middle phase of collaboration, this study gives a first indication that also CSCL groups may go through the storming and norming stage of collaboration. These findings substantiate the necessity of providing support for computer-based learning.
