The new economy is based on the sphere of services, which are created by intellectual creative work. Key factors in this are knowledge, innovation, scientific achievements and technologies based on modern progressive post-industrial society. In this way, intellectual and creative work turns into the leading driving force of the new economy. The purpose of the work is to determine the key areas of development of the creative economy. As a result of the research, it was established that the creative economy includes hundreds of spheres of activity. Among them, in particular: television, fine arts, design, cinema, music, architecture, education, fashion, etc. This list can be continued endlessly, because human imagination has no limits. The creative economy depends on the creative activity of people and the innovativeness of their works, and not on natural resources, such as land, water, and subsoil. Thus, this industry does not cause such damage to the environment as it is caused by industrial enterprises or agricultural production. It is these sectors that primarily deplete renewable and non-renewable natural resources massively, and also pollute the environment. In Ukraine, the process of investing in creative industries is still far from the indicators of developed countries and is implemented through separate programs that stimulate people, mainly young people, to earn, activating intellectual potential (Start-up Fund, Diya City, loans 5-7-9, etc). The largest producer of added value in the creative economy sector in Ukraine is the IT sector, which accounts for 25% of the total added value. The largest share of IT technology exports is accounted for by computer services – almost 37%. In 2020, their income was 5 billion dollars, and in 2021 – 6.8 billion US dollars. Recently, the creative economy is closely intertwined with all areas of our life. It affects education, science, technical progress, determines the attractiveness of regions. In the processes of formation of the creative economy, the main resource is information, and the key assets are personnel and their non-standard, creative ideas. Thus, the main direction is to increase the quality of human capital. However, the development of this area also requires appropriate capital investments. Creative industries develop best in large cities, megacities, and highly developed countries. Therefore, in order to catch up with Germany or Great Britain, Ukraine needs to increase investments in this area. The scientific provisions regarding the systematization of the directions of the creative economy were further developed, and the volumes of the creative economy by sectors of the national economy were substantiated.

The era of audiovisual culture began more than a hundred years ago with the advent of cinema, and is associated with a special language that underlies non-verbal communication processes. Today, screen influence on humans is dominant, as the generation for which computer is an integral part of everyday life has grown. In recent years, non-verbal language around the world has been a major tool in the fight for influence over human consciousness and intelligence. Formation of basic concepts of media education, which later developed into an international pedagogical movement, in a number of western countries (Great Britain, France, Germany) began in the 60’s and 70’s of the XX century. In Canada, as in most highly developed countries (USA, UK, France, Australia), the history of media education began to emerge from cinematographic material. The concept of screen education was formed by the British Society for Education in Film (SEFT), initiated by a group of enthusiastic educators in 1950. In the second half of the twentieth century, due to the intensive development of television, the initial term “film teaching” was transformed into “screen education”. The high intensity of students’ contact with new audiovisual media has become a subject of pedagogical excitement. There was a problem adjusting your children’s audience and media. The most progressive Canadian educators, who have recognized the futility of trying to differentiate students from the growing impact of TV and cinema, have begun introducing a special course in Screen Arts. The use of teachers of the rich potential of new audiovisual media has greatly optimized the learning process itself, the use of films in the classroom has become increasingly motivated. At the end of 1968, an assistant position was created at the Ontario Department of Education, which coordinated work in the “onscreen education” field. It is worth noting that media education in Canada developed under the influence of English media pedagogy. The first developments in the study of “screen education” were proposed in 1968 by British Professor A. Hodgkinson. Canadian institutions are actively implementing media education programs, as the development of e-learning is linked to the hope of solving a number of socio-economic problems. In particular, raising the general education level of the population, expanding access to higher levels of education, meeting the needs for higher education, organizing regular training of specialists in various fields. After all, on the way of building an e-learning system, countries need to solve a set of complex technological problems to ensure the functioning of an extensive network of training centers, quality control of the educational process, training of teaching staff and other problems. Today, it is safe to say that Canada’s media education is on the rise and occupies a leading position in the world. Thus, at the beginning of the 21st century, Canada’s media education reached a level of mass development, based on serious theoretical and methodological developments. Moreover, Canada remains the world leader in higher education and spends at least $ 25 billion on its universities annually. Only the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia are the biggest competitors in this area.

Imagine a world without broadcasting. What would we miss if, from tomorrow, say, there were no more radio and television? The nightly news, favourite soaps or comedy series, the ways in which listening and viewing help to pass the time, especially in the evenings or at weekends; the live coverage of big occasions (the Olympics or a royal wedding); the special programs on special days such as Christmas … these losses we might point to quite readily, hut they would not sufficiently account for the effects of the absence of broadcasting. The media are today, one taken for granted element in the day to day life of members of our societies. In this article I want to pay attention to the unobtrusive ways in which broadcasting sustains the lives and routines, from one day to the next, year in year out, of whole populations, and to reflect on some of the implications of these processes. I will try to account for the ways in which the times of radio and television are organised in relation to the social spaces of listening.

TV programs will be shown to change according to lifestyle, education and cultural understanding. Nevertheless, television has a great importance on the lifestyle of people. The religious understanding is a part of the lifestyle. Many Turks shape their cultural and religious understanding by watching television. The authors will deal with cultural and religious understanding from a socio-cultural perspective, exemplifying this by two Turkish television programs called 'Ekmek Teknesi' (Means of Livelihood) and 'Sir Kapisi’ (Door to Secret). The authors aim to examine the dimensions of these soap operas in the context of religious education, cultural and theological perspectives.

This research describes how da'wah messages through television or electronic media. The development of dakwah in this modern era, has enabled clerics and clerics to convey da'wah messages not only using the talaqqi (face-to-face) method, but also using various kinds of media, both printed and electronic, audio, visual and audio-visual. The use of a number of media in delivering da'wah messages is either done by using printed or electronic media, therefore in this study, it is stated that the role of mass media is like that of da'i. This research discusses television as a medium of preaching. Television as a media of preaching has advantages and disadvantages, among the advantages of television as a medium of preaching is that television has a very wide reach, it can even reach mad'u who are very far and difficult to reach, television is an amalgamation of audio (voice) media and visual (image). The content of television media can be in the form of information, entertainment or education, it can even be a combination of the three elements. The shortcomings of television as a medium of preaching or as a preacher include the cost of producing television shows which tend to be expensive, because broadcasts on television tend to be profit oriented, so that Islamic programs find it difficult to compete with other programs that are in great demand, such as programs. entertainment, soap operas, films and others.

There has long been a close link between both the comedy and, by implication, the sense of humour of British and Australians. Such distinctively British radio and television programs as Hancock's Half Hour and Till Death Do Us Part found their main overseas market in Australia rather than in other English-speaking countries. Americans either did not find them funny or else were not allowed to find them funny, or provided feeble imitations such as Archie Bunker. Only the Australians were able and willing to share the British sense of humour. The other side of this relationship is that Australian comedians such as Dick Bentley, Joy Nicholls, Bill Kerr, Rolf Harris, Barry Humphries and Kevin Bloody Wilson, having succeeded in Australia, have gone on to be successful in Britain as well. Clearly the same formulae work in both countries.

Astronomy, unlike most other sciences, arouses great curiosity amongst laypeople. It is a subject that can be described relatively easily in public lectures. Distinguished astronomers like James Jeans and Arthur Eddington in the past and many more in recent times have “stooped down” to the public level to share the excitement of astronomical discoveries. Today, the popularization program normally proceeds in four different ways — through popular articles, public lectures, planetarium shows, and radio – TV programs. However, this overwhelming public interest in astronomy brings its own difficulties. Not all of it is motivated by a scientific interest! Many persons read mystic significance into astronomical findings. Many more are guided by astrological interest. Many fail to perceive the scientific basis for astronomy, a subject whose laboratory is the whole cosmos with objects too remote to be subject to scientific experimentation.

AbstractObjectiveTo estimate the contribution of television (TV) food advertising to the prevalence of obesity among 6–11-year-old children in Australia, Great Britain (England and Scotland only), Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden and the United States.DesignData from contemporary representative studies on the prevalence of childhood obesity and on TV food advertising exposure in the above countries were entered into a mathematical simulation model. Two different effect estimators were used to calculate the reduction in prevalence of overweight and obesity in the absence of TV food advertising in each country; one based on literature and one based on experts’ estimates.SettingSix- to eleven-year-old children in six Western countries.ResultsEstimates of the average exposure of children to TV food advertising range from 1·8 min/d in The Netherlands to 11·5 min/d in the United States. Its contribution to the prevalence of childhood obesity is estimated at 16 %–40 % in the United States, 10 %–28 % in Australia and Italy and 4 %–18 % in Great Britain, Sweden and The Netherlands.ConclusionsThe contribution of TV advertising of foods and drinks to the prevalence of childhood obesity differs distinctly by country and is likely to be significant in some countries.

The article substantiates the content of the organization of educational work in secondary education institutions of Great Britain based on the analysis of research by domestic and foreign scientists, the generalization of the work experience of state and private schools, the introduction of music classes, which positively affects the formation of the personality of the future citizen and defender of general cultural and national values. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the reform of secondary education institutions in Great Britain, we tried to identify psychological-pedagogical and moral-ethical problems of humanizing the educational process, the results of which were aimed at the formation of universal and national values in students. Based on the analysis of the scientific intelligence of British researchers, we were convinced that the reform of the content of educational work in Great Britain led to a shift in emphasis to internal centralization processes, which included the introduction of educational standards and programs of autonomous school management in Great Britain. At the same time, it should be recognized that educators and teachers also provide schoolchildren with leisure time and ensure that students lead a healthy lifestyle. In their free time from classes, school teachers organize excursions for children, organize various sports competitions and involve them in interest clubs. In most boarding houses, music programs have been developed, where children participate in vocal ensembles and learn to play musical instruments. Jazz ensembles, playing electronic musical instruments, and participation in solo singing groups are popular. Keywords: educational work, secondary education institutions, Great Britain.

In the middle of the 20th century, television technologies found their application in various fields of medical science and practice, in particular in instrumental diagnostics and radiology. Interactive teleconferences have become the technical basis for distant consultations (medical videoconferencing). The emergence of two-way exchange of video and audio information in real time preceded by the period of one-way television communication (so-called «medical television»). Objective: to identify, systematize and comparatively study the patterns of development of scientific and practical knowledge related to the use of one-way television technologies in medicine. The «medical television» used in medicine in the period of 1930-1960s to organize closed (non-public) broadcasts for educational purposes. The use of «medical television» in European countries was discrete. In the United States, the use of «medical television» was purely applied, but it was very large-scale. Television broadcasts have become an indispensable component of professional conferences and congresses. In the USSR, the scientific and technical development of «medical television» followed the path of intrahospital broadcasts only. A distinctive feature was a number of development and research works in the 1950s-1960s for creation of specialized television equipment and the scientific substantiation of the requirements for the parameters of the broadcast image. Developed equipment was mass-produced. The article reveals development and essential changes of higher education in Great Britain in XX–XXI centuries. During last century Great Britain higher education system has changed dramatically – from elite higher education in the beginning of XX century, which was available for very small part of society, to mass higher education with variety of institutions and education programs. Nowadays there is almost half of Great Britain population (of certain age group) obtaining higher education certificate or diploma. The junction of XX and XXI centuries was signed with significant shift in the gender structure of higher education students: more women obtained fist university degree than men. Ten years later the same was recorded in higher degrees. The intense change of Great Britain higher education from elite to mass inevitably influenced the higher education finance sector. Great Britain used to cover all expenses of higher education from the budget. However, the financial crises occurred in the last decade of XX century, and the government was forced to seek for new financing models of higher education. First time in Great Britain higher education history the tuition fee was introduced. Striving to ensure the higher education accessibility for all social groups in Great Britain, the tuition fees were complemented with the grants and loans with special repayment (or without) conditions. Nevertheless, the financial reform, started in 1998, already was changed several times and has raised lots of critics. Along with the financial reform Great Britain deals with the higher education quality issues. There was no essential discussions about higher education quality in the beginning of the XX century as it was elite higher education. Moving to the mass higher education with variety of institutions and dramatically growing student number, the quality question becomes relevant. Despite the owning the largest number of worldwide level elite universities in Europe, Great Britain seeks to ensure the quality in all higher education institutions in the country. Therefore the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education was established. The Agency puts students and the public interest at the center of everything they do. Great Britain higher education quality policy is implemented basing on the Quality Code for Higher Education.

This article draws on the 2018 Writers Guild of Great Britain report ‘Gender Inequality and Screenwriters’, and original interviews with female screenwriters, to assess how the experience of genre plays out in the UK television industry. The report focuses on the experience of women, as a single category, but we aim to reveal a more intersectional understanding of their experiences. Our aim is to better understand the ways in which women are, according to the report, consistently ‘pigeonholed by genre and are unable to move from continuing drama or children’s programming to prime-time drama, comedy or light-entertainment’. Considering the cultural value of genre in relation to screenwriting labour and career progression, we analyse how genre shapes career trajectory, arguing that social mobility for female screenwriters is inherently different and unequal to that of their male counterparts.

This article deals with varieties of sponsorship, with regulation, with the number and types of programs sponsored on terrestrial television, and with the types of advertisers who sponsor them. In France, the 1980s were characterised by expansion and experimentation in sponsorship which outpaced regulation; by contrast, the first network program sponsorship in the United Kingdom was in 1989. The effect of the European legislation of 1989 was to tighten control in France and ease the regulatory framework in the United Kingdom. However, the perceived power of commercials and the strict regime imposed by the British ITC Code of Television Sponsorship, although further liberalised in 1997, continue to limit the penetration of sponsorship in the United Kingdom, Given that in 1995 only 2 per cent of television's advertising income in Britain, and 6 per cent in France, came from sponsorship, there is no evidence to date that sponsorship has had an adverse effect on program quality or diversity.

Abstract:Five breakout groups at the 1992 International Working Conference on Health/Medical Informatics Education in Heidelberg/Heilbronn compared six programs, located in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Germany. Acknowledging the difficulties in comparing programs in different countries and at different degree levels, the groups proposed four different schemata for distinguishing among programs. Despite widely varying approaches, there was consensus on the need for a robust model for health/medical informatics curricula. In March 2020, a state of emergency was declared worldwide as a result of the rapid spread of COVID-19. In Serbia, this led to strict preventive measures (curfew). In Sweden, such measures were not taken, but the system relied on personal responsibility of each individual, instead. In emergency situations, the media gain great importance as a source of information, and as such have the ability to alleviate or worsen the insecurity that the public feels, which can further contribute to the moral panic. In order to determine the potential of electronic media for informing citizens and encouraging critical thinking (during an emergency situation), we have explored rhetorical strategies and their potential for affirming the pluralism of views. The subject of research were broadcasting practices of three TV stations: two public media services (Radio Television of Serbia and Swedish Television) and one cable TV from Serbia (N1). By method of content analysis, we have come to a conclusion that all three media provided viewers with comprehensive, coherent and verified information. During the analysed period, the media in Serbia almost doubled the duration of their news programs, which gives an impression of non-selectivity and a desire to prove maximum coverage on all topics. On the other hand, SVT was consistent in the duration and scope of news programs. The way in which events were presented was mainly characterized by objectivity, although the Serbian public service also displayed a tendency towards intimidation. The biggest differences were noticed in terms of pluralism of views, since it was much more present in the programs of the Swedish public service and cable television (N1) than in the Serbian public service television programs. One of the rhetoric specifics in the way how N1 was presenting the news is discrediting the current political leadership and the decisions they have made.

The article analyzes the content of international students' language education on entry to a higher education institution in Great Britain, using the example of the LSI / IH Portsmouth language center. It is emphasized that Great Britain ranks third in the world after the USA and Australia in terms of the number of international students studying in higher education institutions. Statistical data on the increased number of international students in the higher education institutions of Great Britain are described and the countries of origin of international students are indicated in percentage terms. It is emphasized that the rating of a particular university largely depends on the number of international students who have chosen this institution for study. The author notes that a high level of English is a requirement not only of universities, but primarily of the Home Office, the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). The requirements of the Home Office in accordance with the level of English language proficiency of international students regarding the submission of documents for a visa to study at the Higher Education Institutions of Great Britain are outlined. The author draws attention to the discrepancies between the threshold score indicated by the Home Office and the IELTS consortium, which allows admission to the university for academic programs. Describes the work of LSI / IH Portsmouth Language Centre, which offers both face-to-face English classes in Portsmouth and online English classes for all levels from beginner to advanced, for a variety of academic and professional needs. Today, cultural issues should be one of the most popular among the viewers of the Ukrainian channels, because such programs affect the level of their education and culture in general. Modern globalization has determined the specifics of socio-cultural dynamics, and media play an important role in this process, demonstrating a channel of translation of the values and content of mass culture, whose stereotypes are widely disseminated in the socio-cultural space. Media in modern society have a significant impact on the formation of value orientations. Cultural and entertainment programs occupy an important niche on television. Most young people prefer this genre. Therefore, to interest the audience in such a program, you should make great efforts to create an entertaining story. As entertainment TV shows become popular, each show must be individual and different from each other. As for the recommendations we would like to make to improve cultural and entertainment programs, this is first and foremost a question. Television speech is seen as an important factor in the emotional interaction of the three elements - image, sound and word. But the word plays the most important role in modern television, it is the main "tool" of a journalist's skill. The desire for purity of speech, its intelligibility - one of the basic professional principles of television journalists. As the analysis of the talk show shows, a skilled presenter is the key to the success of a TV show. The presenter is a person who is first of all aware and constantly enriches his knowledge in a professional way. This is a person who has professional skills, namely: mastery of intonation and timbre of the voice, the manner of gesturing in front of the camera and the work with the camera. A presenter is a creative person who works as a journalist, director, cameraman and editor. The presenter must be smart, not boring, talented and energetic. After all, such people are required by the viewer in a TV show. Hosts should develop thinking, interpret events and conduct broadcasts in a natural manner and intonation. The presenter, of course, is a representative of a certain social group, and his interaction can be considered as "representative communication", meaning the common interests, values, ideals and guidelines of this social group. He must present himself to the viewer as a partner in communication. The establishment of interpersonal contacts in the process of television communication is due to the audiovisual nature of television communication. The viewer receives a message from a specific person, the host of a television program, which is why such a message is personalized. Nowadays we can talk about the tendencies of increasing their influence on the formation of general public flavors and needs, as a result of which research and systematization of mechanisms of interaction of mass media and culture in the process of the emergence of modern values is an urgent problem.

<p>This paper looks at how the media – particularly the British press and television – frames the issue of Romanian immigrants in Great Britain, in the context of the freedom of movement for workers in the European Union. The study focuses on the frames employed by the British journalists in constructing anti-immigration discourses in the digital and the TV sphere, comparatively. This study analyzes the stereotypes about Romanian people used in two British media formats and the way in which they affect Romania’s country image overseas. Using a mixed research approach, combining framing analysis (Entman, 1993) with critical discourse analysis (Van Dijk, 1993), and dispositif analysis (Charaudeau, 2005) this article investigates 271 news items from three of the most read newspapers in the UK (The Guardian, Daily Mail and The Independent), published online during January 2013 – March 2014. Also, the paper analyzes three film documentaries from BBC (Panorama – The Romanians are Coming? – BBC1, The Truth About Immigration – BBC2 and The Great Big Romanian invasion – BBC World News). The analysis shows that the British press and television use both similar and different frames to coverage Romanian migrants. The media also infer the polarization between “Us” (the British media) and “Them” (the Romanian citizens).</p>

This article aims to examine the role and efforts of Dhamma TV, a Buddhist-based television station in Malang City, in building peace and harmony between religious communities. The study also shows the normative-theological construction that underlies these efforts. Because religion and media have great potential for peacebuilding. However, both can also be an obstacle to peace. Thus, religion-based media that consistently strives for harmony and peace become a significant aspect of a pluralistic society. This study found that Dhamma TV is a religion-based media that consistently broadcasts programs that contain the values of togetherness, tolerance, and peace. Television avoids programs that contain violence and have the potential to break the unity and harmony of society. Dhamma TV commonly presents cultural programs and social activities from various religions, so it is considered a medium for interfaith adhesives. The effort to build peace and harmony between religious communities is an expression and implementation of Buddhist teachings. Buddhism emphasizes mutual love and kindness to all living beings. In addition, Buddha emphasizes valuing and respecting the lives of others as his own as well.

This article argues that we are witnessing a wave of gastronationalism in European food television. In televised rediscoveries of national cuisines, narratives of the national identity are unfolded, and in these narratives various boundaries are defined and various subjects are included, excluded and ranked in the national narrative. Based on the analysis of Le Chef en France (2011–2012) with the leading celebrity chef in France Cyril Lignac and Jamie’s Great Britain (2012) with Jamie Oliver, the article proposes to distinguish between a monocultural gastronationalism and a multicultural gastronationalism. Finally, the article also suggests that the wave of TV shows with a gastronationalist discourse could be seen as a form of normalization of gastronationalism.

The article presents a comparative analysis of international experience of the development of students’ physical activity in higher education institutions of Great Britain. The author characterizes the structure and content of higher education in leading educational institutions of Great Britain and pays special attention to the organizational aspects of the development of students’ physical activity by means of sports games in leading British universities. Attention is focused on the fact that the process of physical education in higher education institutions of Great Britain is organized according to the principle of the club system, which allows students to choose what kind of sport or physical activity they want to do in extracurricular time as a member of a particular sports club. It is argued that there is a certain difference compared to domestic institutions of higher education because in the absolute majority of British institutions of higher education the process of physical education is organized on the principle of the club system. Higher education institutions of great Britain provide various sports programs: the University of Birmingham implements the Social Sport program, which enables students to try various types of physical activity during the study semester, to improve their skills or to practise a new sport; the University of Manchester has the Sporticipate sports program, which provides students with several hours of free sports classes per week in order to increase their physical performance; the University of London (City University London) implements CityActive sports program, which is aimed at increasing the physical activity of students, their recreation and communication skills. The study shows that there is a significant number of student sports clubs in British universities, namely 52 student sports clubs at the University of Birmingham, 42 student sports clubs at the University of Manchester, and 18 student sports clubs at the University of London (City University London). The monarchy is the oldest governing institution in Great Britain; called the British Monarchy or the Monarchy of Great Britain. It is one of the oldest European monarchies, as well as the most famous. Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state from 1952; she is also a symbol of stability and the main figure in Great Britain. Researching the stages becoming personality of queen, we see how formed her strong, unshakable character through the prism of historical events with which Elizabeth II managed to adapt to present and remain a national symbol for the Britishs. The epoch of Elizabeth II ruling (especially from the end of ХХ to beginning of XXI century) is an important period in British history. It is time for serious reforms in country and also for major changes on global: the collapse of the socialist system in Central and Eastern Europe, the collapse of the Warsaw Pact Organization, the end of the Cold War, unification of Germany, disintegration of the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. During the queen's reign and her life in general, many important events took place. Her Majesty has also been involved in numerous changes to the monarchy, from becoming Queen at the age of twenty-five to traveling the world more than any other monarch before her. Elizabeth II managed to unite the countries of former British colonies and create Concord of nations, that she heads by now. Analysing activity of Her Majesty, it is possible to notice that Elizabeth ІІ supports conservatism, for example, she gives preference to classic style, old books and other things like that. However, at the same time, modernity makes Queen to get used also to new realities, such as radio, television and internet. The Queen is supposed to be impartial, but she is still the head of the executive, legislature and judiciary, as well as the role of Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Elizabeth II symbolizes the sovereignty of the state and her carries out only ceremonial functions in Great Britain and in the countries of Concord, mainly carrying out only official visits, since a leading role in political life of Great Britain is played by Prime Minister. Meantime a queen cares about representativity of her country and propagandizes such values, as following and unity, supports good relationships with foreign leaders out of politics. It seems that the reign of Elizabeth II, due to the individuality of the queen and the length of her reign, may go down in history as the "New Elizabethan Era".

This is a report on a pilot project commissioned by the BBC in conjunction with the author's final MA dissertation for Durham University. The purpose of the research was to investigate British Sign Language (BSL) production on television and its comprehension by the viewing audience. The data analysis could then be used for programme decisions relating to cultural and linguistic specifications. This is especially pertinent in view of the current Broadcasting Act in Great Britain, which stipulates 1% of sign language transmission on all digital and terrestrial television by 1999 and an increase to 5% by 2009.1 In the original research, 70 hours of signed data were recorded. Individual profiles were made for each signer on a sample tape as well as a thorough description of a respondent group. The research focused on a comprehension test. This involved three group categories reflecting two varieties of sign language users, a group whose BSL is most informed (influenced) by English, another whose BSL is dominant, and a hearing (non-signing) group used for comparison. All sample and test responses were analysed and profiled in view of signing production and psychosocial treatment of the language. The use of sign language on television was compared with its wider use among deaf people. This paper summarises and concludes the discussion and recommendations that may be directly referred to by programme makers and translators/interpreters.2

With a few exceptions, media visibility and representation of people with disabilities is scarce. It is biased and anchored in stigma, distorting their image and hindering their full social participation. Paralympic sport is one of the social fields where the challenge of an objective representation of disability becomes particularly important due to the ever-increasing amount of television attention to the Paralympic Games as a global sports event and some persisting stereotypes in media representation of athletes with disabilities. Through an exploratory and interpretive research method, aimed at assessing media visibility of disability from the perspective of content production and its dissemination, the paper reviews the evolution of media representation of the Paralympic Games and athletes with disabilities during Sochi 2014, Rio 2016, and PyeongChang 2018 global sports events in the daily news programs from the National Spanish Broadcaster, RTVE. The effective inclusion of people with disabilities in the public sphere and a progressive removal of stereotypes and stigma depends to a great extent on the visibility and objective representation of disability in media.

This study sought to regulate broadcast media adult content in Kenya and selected countries. The study was conducted through desktop research. This includes searches on government websites, academic databases, relevant book and journal literature, online publications, and reviewing primary legislation and regulatory instruments. Five jurisdictions (the US, Canada, South Africa, Britain and Australia) were selected for comparative analysis. The findings demonstrate that Kenya’s mainstream media frequently promotes unrealistic, sexually suggestive behaviour. It was also established that Kenyan television and radio are not adequately regulated. Furthermore, consistency and persistence in monitoring and rating media content prevent ‘ratings creep’ whereby, as earlier explained, content meant for adults is gradually and increasingly included in programs meant for children. From its first series in 2010, the ITV television drama Downton Abbey laid claim to representing early twentieth-century British society with great historical accuracy while being lambasted by critics for presenting a sanitised version of modern British social history. This article looks at how the programme was drawn, over the course of its broadcast between 2010 and 2015, into a wider discussion of the representation and commemoration of the First World War and debates about accuracy and authenticity in fictional depictions of the war which date back at least to 1915. Locating the discussion in the historiography of the cultural commemoration of the war in Britain, it will examine three particular military medical storylines – Matthew's paralysis, Thomas's self-mutilation of his hand, and the servants' reactions to Archie's psychological trauma – to examine how the drama reflects both the historic reality of the war's impact and the myths of war experience which have developed within British culture over the past century. In doing so, it will argue that Downton demonstrates both the advantages and drawbacks of invoking historical accuracy and authenticity to locate representations within historic narratives of the First World War in Britain.

The aim of this article is to shed light on the phenomenon of «special relations» between the United States of America and Great Britain. Despite the fact that the topic gained considerable attention in the academic literature and the term «special relations» is applied to different states and regions, it is necessary to understand its origins. The purpose of the article is to investigate the phenomenon of American-British relations, to analyze the historical and political view of the problem, and to formulate the characteristics of the relations between the United States and the United Kingdom. Chronological limits are determined by the first mention of the term in 1946 and the presidential term of D.Trump, who managed the office in 2017–2021. Methodology of the article. Hypotheses were tested through historiographical analysis and the historical-comparative method were used to analyze published studies on the history of «special relations». The scientific novelty of the study consists in determining the peculiarities of relations between the United States and Great Britain during the tenure of Donald Trump. Therefore, the «special relationship» is a unique historically formed complex of interaction between the USA and Great Britain, which is manifested in various spheres of public life: political (to have an opportunity for better implementation of their own foreign policy), military (the USA and the United Kingdom have an unprecedented level of mutual trust and cooperation in the field of intelligence and nuclear programs), cultural (the historical memory of both nations makes American and British society sensitive to the problems of their «English-speaking neighbours»). We consider it necessary to highlight the following features of American-British relations:the long-term historical interaction that brought the two nations closer together and laid the foundation for relations between the United States and Great Britain; the common ideology of liberalism; cooperation provides an opportunity to better implement one’s own foreign policy; close relations between political figures of states; relations are characterized by periodic «approaching and distancing», which create new challenges for the allies. Each of these features is traced in the relations between the USA and Great Britain and during the administration of Donald Trump. Both states faced a number of challenges in international politics, due to the crisis state of the modern system of international relations. The governments of the United States and the United Kingdom have demonstrated the ability to compromise in critical situations, that proves the uniqueness of such an alliance.

Da'wah can be done with various strategies according to the state of mad'u. Management in the organization is structured in such a way that da'wah activities run well and according to purpose. The Qur'an Tafsir Council (MTA) is one of the da'wah institutions that carry out its da'wah with various methods, one of which is through television media among other da'wah media. MTA TV presents various da'wah programs in accordance with the vision of the MTA institution. The purpose of this study is to see how the MTA propaganda strategy through television is also side by side with other media. The author uses a qualitative descriptive research method. The findings of this study indicate that MTA through MTA TV can carry out their da'wah effectively because they are able to reach a wider audience. MTA TV is also able to adapt to the times so that this channel can survive, in addition to utilizing social networks that are in great demand by the public. However, on the other hand, the audience of listeners is still limited among Muslims who are members of this da'wah institution and the variety of programs is not so diverse.
