With the entry of 3G and WiMAX players, the Indian mobile subscriber base is expected to reach 1110 million by the end of 2015. To meet mobile infrastructure demand, India will require approximately 350,000 to 400,000 mobile telecommunications towers in the next 7 to 8 years. Presently only 40% of mobile telecommunications towers are shared in India. The high growth of subscribers and initial cost of mobile telecommunications towers and license conditions will force mobile network operators to share infrastructure with other mobile network operators, specifically with new operators. The Indian government has allowed sharing of passive and active components of mobile telecommunication infrastructure. With the changing demand of the telecommunications infrastructure, many new telecommunications tower business entities and companies and mobile telecommunications tower business models are being explored. In this paper, the author presents the landscape of the mobile telecommunications tower industry in India, which consists of four types of companies and trends with respect to the strategies of telecommunication tower companies, especially tenancy ratio. Emerging features of the mobile telecommunication towers industry in India are also presented.

Along with the growth of cellular phone subscribers in Indonesia, cellular network operators continue to strive to build infrastructure to establish broader service coverage areas, thus, increasing the quality of service. Regional Rules & Regulations in DKI Jakarta are intended to regulate the BTS towers within an area. However, they become a barrier for Telecommunications operators to meet the needs of good networks/signals. Changes in the zoning of telecommunication towers can meet the needs of operators and increase customer satisfaction. This study uses qualitative method analysis with an interview. The results show that policy evaluation regarding the implementation of telecommunication towers has yet to meet the needs of telecommunication tower providers (Tower Providers) and has been shown to cause areas that operator signal networks cannot cover. This situation impacts the satisfaction of particular customers and can threaten the business continuity of the operator. Conclusion of the Policy of the Governor of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta Number 14 of 2014, concerning the Implementation of Telecommunication Towers for Telecommunication Tower Providers, the annexse to the zoning of telecommunication towers needs to be reviewed because it has not been able to meet the needs of telecommunication tower providers and can pose a threat to business continuity.

The development of telecommunications technology, such as BTS towers, has provided significant benefits to society. However, the Communication and Information Office (DISKOMINFO) of Mempawah District still faces challenges in managing telecommunications tower data using separate Microsoft Excel files. This causes the data retrieval process to be slow, hinders data changes, and increases the risk of errors. In order to address this problem, the Information Technology Division of DISKOMINFO Mempawah District has developed a web-based management information system to monitor and expedite the calculation of fees and the issuance of SKRD (Tower Utilization Permit). The waterfall development method was chosen to ensure a clear understanding of the system requirements before starting development, and to ensure that each phase is completed before moving on to the next phase. It is expected that the developed telecommunications tower fee payment system will support DISKOMINFO in ensuring timely fee payments, which are crucial for the development of the telecommunications industry and the overall economy.

The aim of this research is to identify how retribution and control of telecommunications towers affect the increase in regional foreign income in Banyuasin Regency. The data sources in this research are secondary data, namely Surat Tanda Retribusi Daerah (STRD) and Surat Tanda Setoran (STS) at the Banyuasin Regency Diskominfo-SP. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. There are three stages in this method: data condensation, data presentation, and verification or conclusions. The percentage of telecommunications tower control retribution collected by the Banyuasin Regency Government in 2020 has exceeded the revenue target, namely 100.23%, in 2021 it increased to 101.60%, while in 2022 it decreased to 84.89%. Even though there will be a decline in 2022, the realization of revenues in 2020 and 2021 has reached or even exceeded the targeted revenues. has been above 100%, this shows that the collection of telecommunications tower control retribution has been achieved very effectively. Meanwhile, the contribution of retribution and control of telecommunications towers to increasing PAD during 2020-2022 is still below 10%, so the criteria are very low.

Menara Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is a telecommunications station whose main function is to facilitate wireless communication between communication devices (clients) and network operators. BTS towers are usually built in densely populated residential areas, due to distributing telecommunications networks. Because it was built in a densely populated settlement, it is necessary to pay attention to the feasibility maintenance of the BTS tower. BTS tower maintenance is intended so that BTS towers can work optimally and reduce the risk of collapsing. The prototype will be made with several components, namely the MPU-6050 sensor, Arduino Uno and LCD. MPU-6050 to detect the tilt of the BTS tower. After 10 tests of pitch and roll angles, the prototype of the BTS tilt has an average error of 1.077 for pitch angle and 1.703 for roll angle. These results are still valid in monitoring the angle of inclination of the BTS

The expansion of the telecommunications sector in Brazil in recent years and the consequent increase in demand for telecommunication towers open space for a discussion about the guidelines to be taken during the execution of projects of this type of structure. Because they are light and slender structures, wind loads become preponderant for the design of these towers and wind analysis is an important topic to be discussed. Thus, this work analyzes design aspects employing numerical modeling and parametric studies. The Brazilian standard NBR 6123:1988 was used to obtain the wind speed and its static and dynamic loads, to compare the responses generated by each of the methods. Then, this process was repeated following the European standard IEC 60826:2017, to compare the results between the two standards methods. A parametric study was also performed with towers of different heights to better understand the structure behavior. The tower responses were obtained using the finite element software SAP2000, in which a lattice tower model with a constant square section was developed, to which the wind loads calculated according to the aforementioned standards were applied. The results showed that each analysis method generates considerably different results, revealing that this is a point that should be very well studied during the design of telecommunication towers.

Telecommunications technology continues to undergo advancements. The enabler of communication in the field of telecommunications is the telecommunications equipment installed on a BTS tower. These devices are constantly being updated to improve the service provided by the provider to meet the needs of customers. One of the network technologies currently used is 4G LTE. To enhance the network service, one of the measures taken is performing a swap or upgrade of the telecommunications equipment on a BTS tower. The upgrade of telecommunications equipment is also influenced by the population in the vicinity of the BTS tower. This allows for the replacement of telecommunications devices with ones that have broader coverage and better signal quality. This research, we discuss the issue of network capacity shortage in the Cibeureum area, South Cimahi. This is indicated by the addition of AAUs to the BTS tower in Pusdikom, Cibeureum. This research found data that South Cimahi is the most densely populated area in the city compared to other districts. Therefore, the addition of AAUs is highly effective for this issue. It is known that the AAUs are added to replace the RRUs on the tower. This is because the capacity and transmission channels of AAUs are greater than RRUs. The addition of AAU with 32T32R specifications to the tower improves signal quality with the following parameter values: RSRP(dbm): -68, -72, -76; RSRQ(db): -11, -10, -10; and SNR(db): 1, 1, 4. These values are categorized as good, indicating that the addition of AAU to the tower can effectively increase network capacity and transmission channels, thereby improving network quality in the area.

The development of the telecommunications industry in Indonesia is extremely rapid. It can be seen from the telecommunications operator vendors who served as telecommunications specialist co-ops rivaling each other in giving the best service to seize the attention of the Indonesian citizen, which requires telecommunications needs. Numerous realities have developed in various regions stating that the existence of Base Tower Transceiver Station (BTS) has resistance from the residents, which are caused by health issues (radiation), safety issues, to the problem of social value. Moreover, some people from residents supported the construction of Base Tower Transceiver (BTS) since the rental price of land for the tower construction is quite high. This study uses primary data from 100 respondents. The analysis technique uses multiple linear regression analysis, which is processed using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution). The next step is to test the validity, reliability, and examine the classical assumptions (including normality test, autocorrelation test, and heteroscedasticity test). In the end, it can be concluded that the people of Rungkut sub-district in Surabaya, mostly enjoyed the benefits of the construction of the existence of the Telecommunications Tower Infrastructure around them.

In the millennial era, the development of information and communication technology is very fast, one of the telecommunications infrastructure is a monopole type telecommunications tower. This type of tower is one of 3 types of telecommunication towers whose main construction is made of steel. The monopole structure is supported by a tread foundation, which is one type of shallow foundation. The main factor in the design of the tread foundation is the bearing capacity factor. Calculation of foundation bearing capacity can be done directly in the field using Sondir data (CPT) and indirectly using laboratory data. In this study a study was conducted to compare the carrying capacity of monopole foundations between field data methods in the form of Sondir data or CPT with result data. Soil tests in the laboratory calculated with the Terzaghi formula. The research location was carried out in Gresik Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia at 3 sites, namely: Mojosarirejo, Kembangan Kebomas and Setromenganti. The results of the comparison of the calculation of the bearing capacity of the foundation (Q) at the Mojosarirejo site with the type of sandy soil. value of QSondir < 9.58 % of Qterzaghi. At the Krembangan Kebomas site with brown clay and gravely clay, the Q value was < 69.93 % of the Qterzaghi and at the Setromenganti site with brown clay soil type with the influence of water level depth – 1 m, the Q value was < 27, 62% of Qterzaghi. From the comparison of the average calculation in the 3 study locations, the bearing capacity of QSondir treads foundation is 26.50 % smaller than Qterzaghi, so the use of Sondir data is more accurate for use in tread foundation planning and provides greater security assurance for the tower foundation structure. monopole type

Widely used telecommunication structures are usually of the tower or mast type. For medium and tall telecommunications structures, tower-type constructions become less efficient compared to mast-type structures. The goal of our article is to discover a new, efficient telecommunication structure. For relatively low heights, tower systems can be designed with a continuous cross-section, in most cases using reinforced concrete elements. Among them, efficient spun concrete elements, whose load-bearing capacity is higher than that of ordinary solid reinforced concrete elements due to the technological features of their production, should be mentioned. A significantly higher efficiency of masts can be achieved by employing various combined structural systems that utilize a prestressed stayed columns system. It should be noted that there are not many solutions for prestressed stayed columns systems with spun concrete core elements and that research into their design and behavior is not yet sufficiently developed. The behavior of this combined structure is analyzed with regard to the geometric and physical nonlinearity of its elements. The strength and stability of the spun concrete core of such a combined system are evaluated. The impact of the prestressing of this prestressed stayed column structure on the internal forces and displacements of the reinforced concrete core is analyzed. The performance of the new structure compared to conventional tower and mast structures is presented. In the article, it has been determined that by applying the prestressed stayed columns system to telecommunication structures, the innovative structural system becomes 2.5 times more efficient than the classic mast and 5 times more efficient than the typical tower system on the mass criterion.

BTS (Base Transceiver Station) is a telecommunications infrastructure in the form of a tower with a transmitting antenna that facilitates wireless communication between communication devices and operator networks. BTS as a signal receiver and transmitter, its existence must be known to a user, such as maintenance staff and BTS tower operation staff to deal with existing problems. So a special system is needed for users to use in determining the closest path between the user and the location of the BTS tower. The purpose of this study is to make it easier for the user to determine the shortest path to the intended BTS tower location and to analyze the Dijkstra algorithm and the A* algorithm in determining the shortest route between the user's location and the location of the Telkomsel BTS tower in Semarang, Central Java. The results obtained from the 82 test data tested with the information system created show that Dijkstra's algorithm is more efficient than the A* algorithm. Validation is carried out by calculating with the system between the user's location and 82 test data or the location of BTS towers in the city of Semarang. The results of the validation carried out explained that the system was running according to the functions made and the results of the calculations carried out by the system were appropriate.

The increase in the telecommunications network was accompanied by the addition of the number of BTS (Base Transceiver Station) in various regions. The BTS (Base Transceiver Station) tower is built with a minimum height of 25-100 meters. BTS towers are equipped with external and internal grounding protection systems that are designed and installed in accordance with SNI. The protection system is a unified protection system for towers and telecommunications equipment from lightning strikes. Lightning strikes occur randomly which cannot be ascertained and their occurrence is controlled and lightning strikes also cause damage to the object that is struck. ATP Draw is a graphical program from the Electromagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) for Windows. Software Alternating Transient Program (ATP Draw) is used for digital simulation of impulse waves. In this software a lightning protection system is modeled in the form of an electrical circuit, and a lightning impulse waveform against a lightning protection system circuit. analyzed the lightning protection system on the BTS tower by performing simulations using ATP Draw software with a power line model with Standard IEC 1.2 x 50 s showing the simulation results of a lightning surge current of 30389 A. for a lightning surge input current of 80 kA, 36088 A for a lightning current input lightning surge of 95 kA, and 37987 A for lightning surge input current of 100 kA. For modeling the standard CIGRE 3.3x77.5μs power line, the simulation results for a lightning surge current of 40644 A for a lightning surge input current of 80 kA, 48264 A for a lightning surge input current of 95 kA, and 50805 A for a lightning surge input current of 100 kA.

The study findings revealed at least 5 factors that negatively affect the successful implementation of the telecommunication tower projects and these are Projects Scope Management, Projects Time Management, Projects Cost Management, Projects Communication Management, and Human Related Factors. The study also revealed that these factors had an adverse impact on project scheduling hence resulting into project delays. Subsequently, it was revealed that delayed legal formalities led to excess project expenses in form of warehouse and rental charges for the piece of land. Additionally, the study findings revealed that poor project scope description had a negative effect on the proper and efficient planning of project resources. Finally, the study revealed that poor project procurement management led to inadequate resource availability hence affecting the project schedule due to lack of resources as subcontractors could not proceed with the projects in the absence of necessary materials. The study recommended organizations to invest more resources in ensuring that various factors that impend the successful implementation of the telecommunication tower projects are known, as well as invest in Research and Development and project managers to ensure comprehensive project planning and evaluation before the project is initiated. This would also help ensuring that various challenges that affect the project implementation process at various stages of project’s implementation are mitigated.

<span lang="EN-US">Nowadays, smart devices have become a major part of human life, and this need has led to an increase in the demand for these devices, prompting major telecommunications companies to compete with each other to acquire the bulk of this market. This competition led to a significant increase in the number of mobile towers, to expand the coverage area. Each communication tower has transmitters and receivers to connect subscribers within the mobile network and other networks. The receivers and transmitters of each mobile tower operate on radio frequency waves. These waves can cause harm to humans if the body tissues absorb the radiation resulting from these waves. Headache, discomfort, and some other diseases are among the effects resulting from the spatial proximity to the mobile towers. In this paper, a model based on geographic information systems (GIS) software is proposed for the purpose of discovering the area of exposure to radio frequency radiation. This model can assists mitigate the opportunities of exposure to these radiations, thus reducing its danger. Real data of the levels of electromagnetic pollution resulting from mobile towers were analyzed during this study and compared with international safety standards.</span>

Due to the advancement of telecommunication platform, users are now demanding high performance application. Propagation models play a vital role in the characterization and design of wireless and mobile communications networks. However, if they are utilized in a different environment than the one they were formulated for, propagation path-loss models may produce unacceptable deviation in predictions. Nowadays every mobile service provider continues to build a telecommunications tower with little regard for its impact on the area function. This paper presents the cellular network planning in the district of Bukit Raya, Pekanbaru. From the field survey, there are found sixty-two (62) cell sites. This number is extremely large compared to the calculated one. From the theory, only twenty-five (25) cell sites are required. Thus, it was found inappropriate deployment cell sites.

Cellular telecommunications tower/BTS tower is a building structure consisting of a main structure in the form of a series of steel structures and a lower structure in the form of a foundation. Foundation work in construction is one of the main jobs. Very careful planning for the selection of the use of the foundation is very important. To know the right foundation to use is to know the load that will affect the foundation itself. Here is the tower load. Tower load to be calculated is obtained from analysis data on the MS Tower, which will then be calculated for determining the type, dimensions and reinforcement of the foundation based on the soil data from the Cone Petrometer Test (CPT). In planning the foundation using the help of the SPmats computer program with the aim of making it easier. The results of the study are based on the results of soil CPT data obtained in the field, which is about 12 – 20 kg/cm2 with a depth of 1 – 2m in terms of 2 points, with a qc of about 20 kg/cm2 suitable for raft foundations.

Non-destructive testing (NDT) methods are a diagnostic tool for evaluating the risk of failure or the need for repair and renovation. In analyzing constructions of high historical value, destructive diagnostic methods should be avoided. This study is a comprehensive NDT investigation of the masonry tower topped with a steel dome, a remnant of the overhead telecommunications network from the end of the 19th century. Visual inspection and research made it possible to assess the degree of damage to the structure. Stress–strain state analysis showed the sufficient load-bearing capacity of the steel dome. In addition, calculations have shown that the masonry tower is subjected to significant horizontal forces causing structure cracks.

The idea of reaching the heavens has captivated humans throughout the ages. Rockets have proved extremely inefficient in overcoming this challenge and constructing a “Centrifugally Extended Carbon Nano-Tube Tether Space Elevator” (CECNTTSE) presents unsolved technological challenges. The authors conclude that to efficiently achieve the goal of unrestricted movement away from Earth’s gravitational pull; both the current state of the art and the proposed method for a Space Elevator should be reinvented. Therefore, the authors propose the “Buoyant Advanced Building Elevator Lightweight” (BABEL) Tower, a new concept of “a floating tower” capable of reaching up to the Karman Line and beyond. While providing the structural support to a sub-orbital elevator and offering a better launching platform for space vehicles, with built-in rocket engines, directed specifically to LEO but also beyond. Using a (hybrid) LTA and electromagnetically driven elevator car, this super-tall tower could lift tremendous amounts of cargo (and passengers) while avoiding problems associated with space elevators, and could be more feasible in a shorter time. This concept combines characteristics of the Skylon Tower (of London) and the Burj Khalifa (of Dubai) into a flared tensegrity structure with buoyant platforms, “linked” every 2.5 km and tethered to the ground. This anchor-mooring system will support a beam-stalk like buoyant shaft. The estimated aspect ratio (2.5:100) for each wing of its “Y-shaped footprint” will be 2500 meters wide at sea level. The platforms and the shaft “must be built” following a modular principle. Its buoyancy will be generated using a perfect vacuum inside its cells, thus becoming; lighter than air, free from the scarce availability of helium, and safe from hydrogen’s reactiveness. Because its foundations would have to resist the up-thrusting forces that the buoyant structure will produce (instead of the compressive forces caused by weight), the engineering of this buoyant tower is structurally comparable to a maritime spar platform for deep-water oil-extraction. This concept will have a high potential efficiency in reducing the cost per kilogram to be in transit to orbital insertion. In providing an infrastructure of planetary scale, this tower could provide the requisite platforms for other uses such as astronomical observation, clean solar energy distribution (by laser beaming), space tourism, telecommunications, research laboratories, aerosols dispersion, carbon and methane sequestration, airship hub terminals, etc.

Risk is very attached to every activity. Potential risks also occur in antenna installation projects at telecommunications company vendors, which create hazardous work. The aim of the research is to identify the causes of accidents at the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) tower and make recommendations for ways to reduce the accident rate for tower workers by using Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method. The results based on the FMEA method used indicate that: the highest work accident rate is obtained from being hit by heavy material (RPN = 128), with a percentage of 31%. Whereas in the FTA method, the most fundamental factor in the occurrence of material overlap work accidents is technical factors where the antenna installation is not perfect, the tools used are not based on standards, supported by the results of data verification by the internal control team which found 6% of engineers do not have proper helmets. Improvements were made by eliminating the existing failure modes, namely by equipping PPE for workers who do not yet have PPE and training certificates to work at tower heights.

As the antenna-supporting structures, latticed telecommunication steel towers are considered as critical members of telecommunication infrastructures. It is necessary to perform progressive collapse analysis of lattice telecommunication towers under wind loads. The present study conducts a nonlinear dynamic analysis on 50 m high typical standard latticed telecommunication tripole tower and angle tower by alternative load path method. The finite element models for two towers subjected to design wind loads are developed by ABAQUS. The analysis results show that, for 50 m high standard tripole tower, the member failure in the first three tower sections from tower top would not trigger the collapse of the tower. From the fourth tower section to tower bottom, the member failure at certain wind direction may cause a collapse. For 50 m high standard angle tower, the single member failure in any tower section would not cause the collapse of the tower. A dynamic sensitivity index is proposed to identify the most unfavorable wind direction for tripole tower and angle tower. A progressive collapse fragile curve based on collapse probability of telecommunication tower under wind loads is proposed to assess the anticollapse performance of the towers.

Abstract. Broadband cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy (BBCEAS) has been used to measure the sum of concentrations of NO3 and N2O5 from the BT (telecommunications) Tower 160 m above street level in central London during the REPARTEE II campaign in October and November 2007. Substantial variability was observed in these night-time nitrogen compounds: peak NO3+N2O5 mixing ratios reached 800 pptv, whereas the mean night-time NO3+N2O5 was approximately 30 pptv. Additionally, [NO3+N2O5] showed negative correlations with [NO] and [NO2] and a positive correlation with [O3]. Co-measurements of temperature and NO2 from the BT Tower were used to calculate the equilibrium partitioning between NO3 and N2O5 which was always found to strongly favour N2O5 (NO3/N2O5=0.01 to 0.04). Two methods are used to calculate the lifetimes for NO3 and N2O5, the results being compared and discussed in terms of the implications for the night-time oxidation of nitrogen oxides and the night-time sinks for NOy.

The rapid growth of tower assets among Indonesia's three main tower providers shows the increasingly tight competition within the telecommunications business. Therefore, this research analyzed the mediating effect of customer satisfaction on customer loyalty with customer relationship management (CRM) and company reputation as predictors using data from customer satisfaction research conducted with Mitratel clients. The data collected comprised 155 current and former customers of the Mitratel Tower company, collected from survey responses. The data was qualitatively evaluated and analyzed statistically using data processing techniques applied in the SEM-PLS analysis procedure. The result showed that CRM and company reputation directly impact customer satisfaction and loyalty. However, the impact of CRM on loyalty cannot be influenced directly due to the complexity of factors affecting customer loyalty. While customer satisfaction is important in building loyalty, other factors such as price, service quality, brand reputation, and psychological factors also play a significant role. This research provides in-depth insight into how factors such as customer satisfaction, CRM, and company reputation interact to influence customer loyalty. It is also an important basis for Mitratel Companies to design more effective policies and strategies to improve business performance and maintain market share. Abstract. A growing number of research works, experiments and applications is investigating the potential at the intersection of augmented reality (AR) and the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Project management, project communication, collaborative design, maintenance and construction progress documentation, construction site safety, and training are some of the cases that can benefit from blending real and virtual views through mobile devices. In recent years, research also highlighted how mixed reality and building information modeling (BIM) could cooperate to provide effective communication between multiple agents and closer interaction between digital information and the building site. Nevertheless, consolidated applications in these fields are still limited, especially when compared to other areas of AR adoption. This paper presents the development of an AR-based mobile app for exploring telecommunications tower sites and interacting with a related BIM database. The project aims to provide easy-to-use tools to maintain both the physical assets and an up-to-date model. We discuss critical issues in developing a scalable and interoperable application, supporting the feasibility study of similar solutions in the AEC sector.

This study examines the maximum alongwind dynamic response of slender vertical structures subjected to thunderstorms, comparing the induced maximum response with the one induced via synoptic events. Two real structures are considered as case studies: a lighting pole and a telecommunications tower. The comparison between thunderstorm- and synoptic-induced dynamic responses is performed through a critical analysis of three ratios characterizing the difference between the two phenomena: the reference wind speed, the mean wind profile, and the gust response factor. The comparison shows that the definition of the reference wind speed and the height of the nose tip of the thunderstorm mean wind profile are crucial for the maximum response, as well as for the dependence of the turbulence intensity on the roughness length. The results show that thunderstorms provide the design loading condition in most cases.

One of the communication problems at PLN is communication in areas that are not covered by radio frequencies. With the limitation related to radio frequency because the blankspot can have an impact on the speed of service, both in terms of recovering when disturbances occur, communication for coordination between officers, and maintenance work. Meanwhile, efforts to expand radio frequency coverage areas by building tower repeater links and BTS tower rentals require relatively large costs. Information technology that is developing now makes it easy for everyone to communicate through various media, one of which is an internet connection. Widespread development of infrastructure owned by telecommunications providers, the wider availability of internet connections in the blank spot area. To overcome the blank spot areas that have an impact on SAIDI and SAIFI, Radio Gateway Over Internet Protocol is used in the working area of PT. PLN (Persero) Banyuwangi area that connects communication radios with mobile phones through the internet network. From the calculation using the average formula in the Microsoft Excel program the average value of SAIDI is better than before. Meanwhile, the average SAIFI score afterwards is also better than before. By using the T-Test test analysis it is known that the calculated t value is better, and for SAIFI it is known that the calculated SAIDI data is also better.

This paper presents a fuzzy subtractive modelling technique to predict the weight of telecommunication towers which is used to estimate their respective costs. This is implemented through the utilization of data from previously installed telecommunication towers considering four input parameters: a) tower height; b) allowed tilt or deflection; c) antenna subjected area loading; and d) wind load. Telecommunication towers are classified according to designated code (TIA-222-F and TIA-222-G standards) and structures type (Self-Supporting Tower (SST) and Roof Top (RT)). As such, four fuzzy subtractive models are developed to represent the four classes. To build the fuzzy models, 90% of data are utilized and fed to Matlab software as training data. The remaining 10% of the data are utilized to test model performance. Sugeno-Type first order is used to optimize model performance in predicting tower weights. Errors are estimated using Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) for both training and testing data sets. Sensitivity analysis is carried to validate the model and observe the effect of clusters’ radius on models performance.

The 26 December 2004 earthquake and tsunami significantly affected lifelines in Banda Aceh: (a) the water system sustained almost no damage due to shaking, but it had breaks at almost all aboveground stream crossings affected by the tsunami; (b) a waste disposal plant 1 km inland was estroyed by the tsunami; (c) electric utilities were not affected by shaking but were generally destroyed when impacted by the tsunami, and a floating generation barge was carried several kilometers inland; (d) a 70- m steel telecommunications tower at Lho Nga was destroyed by the tsunami; (e) the fishing port at Banda Aceh was totally destroyed, while the deep-water port at Kreung Raya (oil and dry cargo) lost half its piping and 3 of 9 oil tanks; (f) the airport at Banda Aceh is inland and had minor shaking damage to the control tower; and (g) one fire was reported on 26 December due to the earthquake. Significant lessons are (a) since the potential for this event was well known, the global earthquake community should better inform populations and decision makers; (b) urban master planning and building codes should include tsunami design as a standard and significant criterion; (c) the needs of lifeline operators should be considered in the design and development of tsunami warning systems; (d) building and other design codes should include tsunami design as a standard loading; and (e) extrapolation of the experience in this event to other situations is required.

This study investigates the stock valuation implications of the strategic spin-off plan involving Tawal, the biggest telecom tower infrastructure provider in Saudi Arabia, a 100% owned subsidiary of the Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC). Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has sent a nonbinding offer to acquire 51% of Tawal's shares from the STC group, which is aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030 strategy. The findings of this research contribute nuanced insights into the relationship between spin-offs and stock valuation within the context of the telecommunications industry. By scrutinizing the anticipated impact of the Tawal spin-off on STC stock price, this study provides valuable information for investors and the STC group navigating the strategic decisions and their implications for the stock value. The research employs a comprehensive stock valuation framework with absolute-relative valuation, internal-external analysis, and risk assessment to gauge the potential effects on STC's respective stock values of the Tawal spin-off. Comparative analyses conducted within the telecommunications sector in Saudi Arabia offer valuable benchmarks for assessing the performance of STC Group. According to the intrinsic valuation approach and the Discounted Cash Flow model, STC stock price is undervalued compared to the stock price of 19th November 2023 by 38.3 SAR. Assuming the spin-off failed, obtaining the fair price at 41.5 SAR per share based on the DCF model and 54.2 SAR based on the relative valuation PE ratio. If the Spin-off is agreed upon and concluded, the fair price is valued at 42.6 SAR per share based on the DCF model. Sensitivity analysis and Monte Carlo simulation resulted in two results: the gross profit margin is a sensitive variable of the stock price movement, and the buy option is preferable. In line with that, STC has a solid holding organization, is financially healthy, and has sustained a competitive advantage. STC is expected to deploy the liquidity into investment and expansion in the region and globally, generating a higher return to satisfy the investor interest.

The Artarmon Triangle in Sydney, Australia is cornered by three large broadcast towers that, over the years, have emitted high levels of radiofrequency radiation. One study of the Artarmon Triangle suggests a link between the incidence of leukemia and proximity to the towers. Further, there is a widespread belief within the telecommunications industry that exposure to radiofrequency radiation may cause telecommunication equipment riggers to conceive more female offspring. This study tests a hypothesis that telecommunications riggers who have worked on any of the three Artarmon Triangle towers would have an increased frequency of female offspring when compared to telecommunications riggers who have not worked in the Triangle.
