This paper focuses on the application of systems thinking, systems theory, and systems evaluation theory (SET) in evaluating modern day systems. SET consists of three steps purposively sequenced with each being a prerequisite for the success of the next step. The first foundational step is to define the system. Systems thinking provides theoretical rationale for defining the system boundaries, components, and relationships. However, there is no literature describing how to define these system elements. Using an example from the evaluation of several United States cardiac care systems, the paper shares a number of methods used to define the system boundaries, components, and relationships. The paper describes how each of these elements informs the evaluation of step two of SET—evaluating system efficiency. The discussion shares lessons learned, and notes the relationship between methods used in system and program evaluation.

The article examines a learning system that allows the creation of electronic textbooks. In addition, when using a learning environment, it is often necessary to repeat a topic from previously studied basic disciplines, which form interdisciplinary relationships. In the course of learning, students often have to use a variety of information and reference materials, the essence of which is determined by the field of study. These can be regulations, standards, technical references of materials used, guides on the choice of certain parameters, regulatory — legal documents, financial advice or court practice, etc. Instrumental technologies based on a non-linear way of presenting information and contributing to the unity of disparate knowledge bases (interdisciplinary communication in learning) can improve the quality of education and become a significant motivation for studying related disciplines. Examples are given of working with a training system for interdisciplinary relationships.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the characteristics of actors that allow them to relate to others actors in the system through shared intentionality (orientation) and the nature of the A4A relationship and the results that such interactions bring to the emergent system based on this shared purpose (finality). Design/methodology/approach The topic is approached by theoretical analysis and conceptual development of three integrative frameworks: the sociological perspective, service-dominant logic and a particular perspective of system thinking: the viable system approach (vSa). Findings The A4A relationships involve value co-creation based on actors integrating their resources and acting with intentionality to obtain value by providing benefits to other parties and by belonging to the emergent viable system; actor acts for other actors directly involved in the relationship generating positive effects for the whole system in which it is contextualized. Research limitations/implications Future empirical research might better support findings. Social implications Many social implications deriving from an augmented role of actors engaged within social relationships in co-creation exchanges. From the title of the paper A4A over on the manuscript describes numerous social inferences of actors in co-creation. Originality/value A4A is a relationship formed by actors that interact for the benefit of the whole system in which are involved. They find own benefit from the benefit created for the system in which they live and act. In A4A relationships the value of the single actor comes from the participation to the viability of the whole system.

Dynamic systems theory is a way of describing the patterns that emerge from relationships in the universe. In the study of interpersonal relationships, within and between species, the scientist is an active and engaged participant in those relationships. Separation between self and other, scientist and subject, runs counter to systems thinking and creates an unnecessary divide between humans and animals.

Open-chain multibody systems have been extensively studied because of their widespread application. Based on the structural characteristics of such a system, the relationship between its hinged bodies was transformed into recursive constraint relationships among the position, velocity, and acceleration of the bodies. The recursive relationships were used along with the Huston-Kane method to select the appropriate generalized coordinates and determine the partial velocity of each body and to develop an algorithm of the entire system. The algorithm was experimentally validated; it has concise steps and low susceptibility to error. Further, the algorithm can readily solve and analyze open-chain multibody systems.

The Contingency Outsourcing Relationship (CORE) model originated from the Four Outsourcing Relationship Types (FORT) model; the CORE model is used in the globalized Facility Management (FM) industry, while the FORT model is originally used in the global information technology industry. The purpose of this paper is to thoroughly analyse the simulated case studies of the four different categories (i.e., in-house, technical expertise, commitment and common goals) of the CORE model from the perspective of the various clients. This study builds on the previous work on the outsourcing relationships between a client and a globalized FM service provider. It further explores the application of this model with the aid of artificial neural networks (ANNs) towards a sustainable future. A quantitative methodology through a survey is used to analyse eight outsourcing strategies for the four outsourcing relationships. A set of revised rules of the CORE is introduced and discussed regarding the approaches to investigate the four simulated outsourcing relationship systems. The study further reveals that an interesting understanding of the four outsourcing categories can be systematically and efficiently implemented into the FM outsourcing relationships through the methodology of scientific Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is concluded that FM outsourcing categorization may help to define the appropriate relationships. This further detailed outcome generated from the ANN can be clearly considered a strong and solid reference to define and explain the existing outsourcing relationships between the stakeholders and the service providers with the aim to assign an outsourcing category to the FM relationship between the client and service provider based on the learnt rules.

The system is a collection of objects that have relationships with each other. The components in this system must be integrated with each other. As a result, the most important factor in integrating existing components in a system is the relationship. The purpose of this study is to examine the system's classification and relationships as the core of the system. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research and is included in the qualitative research category. Sources of research data were obtained from related books and journals as well. Data collection techniques include collecting literature data or library materials related to the discussion in the research. An effective solution to the problems of analysis and synthesis of information security management systems can not be provided by simple ways of simply describing their behavior in different conditions - systems engineering solves problems that require quantitative evaluation of characteristics. Such data, obtained experimentally or by mathematical modeling, should reveal the properties of information security management systems. The main one is efficiency, which means the degree of compliance of the results of information protection to the goal. The latter, depending on the resources available, the knowledge of developers and other factors, can be achieved to one degree or another, and there are alternative ways to implement it. In a number of publications the authors propose the basics of the categorical apparatus of set theory, which allows to explain the relationship between sets of threats and sets of information protection system, which allows to build different mathematical models to analyze information exchange systems in critical application systems. At present, the creation of information security management systems is not possible without research and generalization of world experience in building information systems and their constituent subsystems, one of the key of which are information protection and intrusion prevention systems. Components of the process of attacking the mechanisms of protection and blocking or destruction of cyber threats themselves are components of the mathematical support of such systems. The basis of such models is the mathematical apparatus, which should ensure the adequacy of modeling of information security processes for any conditions of cyber threats. When defining the mathematical apparatus, it is necessary to clearly understand how certain sets of cyber threats are built, and how the sets of cyber threat sets, sets of security system elements and sets of cyber attack detection systems, which should control the correctness of the information security process. The article analyzes various options for building models of information security management system and creates a mathematical model that takes into account the internal relationships of different subsets of components of the information security system under the influence of cyber threats.

Laves-phase intermetallics are of potential use as high-temperature structural materials. NbCr2-based C15-structured alloys are of particular interest for such applications. by themselves, Laves phases generally have poor ductility and fracture toughness at low temperatures. Two phase alloys (i.e., Laves phase and the ductile bcc phase) are considered more promising for structural applications. The orientation relationships between the two phases can contribute to the mechanical behavior of the material. In this study, observations of two different orientation relationships in a Nb-NbCr2 eutectic are discussed and compared with previous studies of the NbCr2 system, as well as the TiCr2 system.A Nb-NbCr2 eutectic alloy was prepared by arc-melting high-purity alloys followed by annealing at 1400°C for 100 h and then cooling at l°C/min. The complete details of the materials preparation have been given elsewhere. Specimens were prepared for observation in the transmission electron microscope (TEM) by cutting 3 mm discs with a coring saw, followed by dimpling and ion milling. Microstructural characterization was performed with a Philips CM30 TEM operating at 300 kV.

Aim. The presented study analyzes customer relationship management and the role of consumers in the marketing communications system.Tasks. The authors show the importance of customer relationship management systems for the promotion of goods and services produced by the organization and the formation of a complex of marketing communications; explore existing problems and approaches to managing relationships with consumers; identify the components of CRM systems; determine the role and forms of user participation in the formation of media content and models of its consumption.Methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study includes works of Russian and foreign authors on the problem under consideration. General scientific methods of cognition are used to investigate major approaches to managing relationships with consumers, methods and tools of interaction with consumers, including through the creation of CRM systems.Results. It is substantiated that the organization’s clients are an invaluable asset of the business, and the relationship with them needs to be managed. A CRM system makes it possible to track the history of customer relationships and implement loyalty programs, involving consumers in the product’s value chain through the formation and use of user content. The outflow of consumers from traditional media to social networks and search engines facilitates the convergence of consumers and producers. Users participate in the creation of media products by writing reviews, recommendations, blogs, taking part in online training seminars, and engaging in digital art.Conclusions. Achieving long-term relationships with consumers, managing customer relationships, and using user content to promote goods and services contribute to improving the effectiveness of the organization’s marketing communications system. A CRM system is both a tool for automating the organization’s business processes and managing channels of interaction with consumers, and a customer orientation strategy. Information about geographical, demographic, behavioral and other characteristics of consumers contained in CRM systems helps to make the right marketing decisions.

The Bodo of the North Eastern region of India have their own kinship system to maintain social relationship since ancient periods. Kinship is the expression of social relationship. Kinship may be defined as connection or relationships between persons based on marriage or blood. In each and every society of the world, social relationship is considered to be the more important than the biological bond. The relationship is not socially recognized, it fall outside the realm of kinship. Since kinship is considered as universal, it plays a vital role in the socialization of individuals and the maintenance of social cohesion of the group. Thus, kinship is considered to be the study of the sum total of these relations. The kinship of the Bodo is bilateral. The kin related through the father is known as Bahagi in Bodo whereas the kin to the mother is called Kurma. The nature of social relationships, the kinship terms, kinship behaviours and prescriptive and proscriptive rules are the important themes of the present study.

Lots of people employ recommender systems to diminish the information overload over the internet. This leads the user in a personalized manner to hit upon interesting or helpful objects in a huge space of possible options. Amongst different techniques, Collaborative filtering recommender system has pulled off great success. But this technique pays no heed towards the social relationship of the users. This problem gave birth to the Social recommender system technology which possesses the capability to recognize users likings and preferences and their social relationships. In this paper, we present novel method where we combine collaborative filtering recommender system with social friend network to use social relationships. For this, we have made use of data related to users which provides their interests as well as their social relationship. Our method helps to find the friends with dissimilar tastes and determine the close friends amongst direct friends of targeted user which has more similar tastes. This proposed approach resulted in more precise and realistic results than traditional system.

The model of the relationship management system of the company on the basis of methodical apparatus of cybernetic modeling of viable systems is proposed. The model of the relationship management system of the company is presented as an entity (a metasystem) and an object of management (operating element), which is proposed in the form of relationship management processes with main groups of partners. The system of inter-company interactions, which reflects the development of individual relationship with a certain partner, is presented. Based on the structural-level and metasystem approaches, key levels and structure of enterprise relationships are identified. Five levels of relationship between the company and its partners – element, component, subsystem, system-wide, and metasystem levels are identified. These levels are presented in the form of recursive structure of the viable model of relationship management system of the enterprise.

In weather radar applications, the Z-R relationship is considered one of the most crucial factors for providing quality quantitative precipitation estimates. However, the relationship’s parameters vary in time and space, making the derivation of an optimal relationship for a specific weather radar system challenging. This research focused on the analysis of the spatiotemporal variability of the parameters for a newly installed X-Band weather radar in Athens, Greece, by performing correlation and optimization analyses between high temporal resolution weather radar and rain gauge datasets. The correlation analysis was performed to assess the available datasets and provide the base of quality control. Multiple Z-R relationships were then derived for the following three optimization procedures; event-based relationships, station-based relationships, and a single area-based relationship. The results highlighted the region’s spatial variability regarding the Z-R relationship and the correlation between the station location and its parameter values. Moreover, it was found that stations near the coast and the front end of precipitation systems featured parameter values typical of convective type events. Finally, a single Z-R relationship was determined under a calibration and validation scheme, Z = 321R1.53,, which was validated with good agreement.

The chaos theory is utilised in a metaphorical manner to describe the current state of family law and more specifically law regulating intimate relationships in South Africa. A bird's eye view of the law of intimate relationships is provided to indicate that the current system of law regulating intimate relationships is in a state of chaos. Deregulation of intimate relationships and regulation by contract as well as a singular Act regulating intimate relationships are investigated as alternatives to the current system. The paper concludes that deregulation does not pose a viable alternative model to recognise intimate relationships. The ideal will be to have a singular Act regulating all intimate relationships. The conclusion and termination of these relationships should be less formal than the current system. The parties should be free to regulate the consequences of their intimate relationship by a relationship contract. Default contracts should be contained in the Act to ensure substantive equality in intimate relationships.

The adoption and subsequent implementation of Law No. 1585 dated 27.02.1998, concerning compulsory health care insurance, have generated a series of legal relationships that were previously unfamiliar to the healthcare system of the Republic of Moldova. Given that every legal relationship follows a certain course – it is initiated, may undergo modifications and/or suspensions, and eventually concludes – the legal relationships arising from the compulsory medical insurance system follow the same logical trajectory. However, it is essential to mention that within the com-pulsory medical insurance system, there exists a diversity of legal relationships which, both structurally and in terms of content, can be entirely distinct. This article addresses this diversity of legal relationships, which simultaneously form an integral part of medical legal relationships but only encompass those individuals directly involved in the compulsory health care insurance system: the insured, the insured persons, the insurer, and, correspondingly, the providers and suppliers of services and goods within this intricate social framework.

In this paper we present a system which incorporates the features of Fuzzy Qualitative Trigonometry (FQT) with those of the Fuzzy Qualitative Reasoning system, Morven. FQT is designed for modeling and reasoning about robot kinematic systems whereas Morven was designed for simulation and envisionment of straightforward dynamic systems. It has been the case that thus far QR systems have not been designed to reason about the behaviour of dynamic system containing fuzzy trigonometric relations. The resulting tool described in this paper goes some way to addressing this deficit.

There are almost as many definitions of systems biology as there are workers in the field and we won?t attempt to add any further definition. In order to obtain an holistic view to the functioning of all of the processes in a cell, it is important to obtain sufficient data to understand the relationships between the many components that make up the cell.

With the widespread use of social networks, social recommendation algorithms that add social relationships between users to recommender systems have been widely applied. Existing social recommendation algorithms only introduced one type of social relationship to the recommendation system, but in reality, there are often multiple social relationships among users. In this paper, a new matrix factorization recommendation algorithm combined with multiple social relationships is proposed. Through experiment results analysis on the Epinions dataset, the proposed matrix factorization recommendation algorithm has a significant improvement over the traditional and matrix factorization recommendation algorithms that integrate a single social relationship.

This paper reviews the exploration and application of social–ecological systems research perspectives to sustainable development issues such as the areas of coupled human–earth relations, resource management, geographical landscape patterns, system dynamics, and the relationship between ecosystem services and human well-being, and summarizes practical approaches and applied techniques for solving social–ecological system problems in order to understand changes and relationships in complex systems better. The article summarizes the theoretical research on social–ecological systems by domestic and international scholars into six frameworks: system resilience, system cascade, nature’s contribution to humans based on ecosystem services, public resource system management, system behavior scenario analysis, and system regime shift. Innovative research and practice oriented to complexity, coupling, and nonlinearity have emerged. However, there are differences between scientific research and applied practice, including their theoretical and methodological orientations. We should be oriented to social–ecological system problems to achieve a transformation from components to relationships, from outcomes to processes, from single to open systems, from general interventions to context sensitivity, and from linear to complex causality to meet what is required from sustainability science and geography.

Couples making the transition to parenthood experience challenges that can threaten the quality and stability of their relationships and the health of family members. Currently, the educational infrastructure to support the delivery of couple-relationship education during the transition to parenthood is limited. Because new-parent couples interact with the health care system at many points during this transition time, an opportunity exists for strengthening couple relationships within the system to improve the well-being of adults and children. In this article, we propose a productive collaboration between marriage/couple educators and health care systems to integrate couple-relationship education into the standard of perinatal care.

The transformation of various organizations into an innovative technology, specifically, information system (IS), should have a positive impact the flow of work procedure within the banking industry. The main aims of this study is to recognize the success of banking systems from users’ perspective, who work in banking industries. This study is motivating due to the rapid growth of applying IS in the banking industry’s in developing countries such as Sudan which is require more evaluation. In this study, the DeLone and McLean (D&M) model applied as one of the major models that assess the success of IS. The proposed model consist of six constructs include system quality (SYQ), information quality (INQ), service quality (SVQ), system use (SU), user satisfaction (UST), and net benefits (NBs). The results of the study support and confirm that there are significant relationships among the success variables. All relationships of study hypotheses supported, except the relationship between SYQ and UST, as well as between SVQ and SU. The discussion and empirical evidence presented can assist the Sudanese banking industry to improve and fully utilize the possibility of banking information systems as a new tool for banking information evaluation purposes.

Phase relationships in the system Si3N4−SiO2−Yb2O3 have been investigated at 1750 °C and compared with those in the system Si3N4−SiO2−Y2O3. Two types of ytterbium silicon oxynitride, Yb2Si3O3N4 (tetragonal) and Yb4Si2O7N2 (monoclinic), were confirmed to exist. The x-ray powder diffraction data of two compounds were indexed based on the space group and unit cells. Melting temperature of Yb4Si2O7N2 was determined as 1870 °C. Yb4Si2O7N2 is a better intergranular phase of silicon nitride ceramics for its high melting temperature.
