The article is devoted to the research of subjective control level among students from China with different levels of subjective well-being. Subjective well-being is an integrative psychological formation which includes a person’s personality characteristics, which deal with different life areas evaluation and experiencing satisfaction with them. The obtained data show the high level of internality among students with high level of subjective well-being. With the average level of subjective well-being the internality goes down, and with the low level the “author’s” attitude to life is completely absent.

This study examined the relationship between Subjective Well-Being and Neuroticism. Based on Diener’s Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) (ED, Diener and et.al. 1985) and Oxford Happiness Inventory (OHI) (Michel Argyle, 2001), Subjective Well-Being (LSH) questionnaire consisted of two factors: Life Satisfaction and Happiness. In addition, Neuroticism questionnaire developed by Ohn Hlaing and Ohn Kyaw: Psychiatric Rating Scale (1980) was also used in this study. This questionnaire was generated based on five factors, namely; anxiety, worry, depression, obsession, and hypochondriasis. In this study, the hypothesis states that Subjective Well-Being is negatively associated with Neuroticism. In this hypothesis, Subjective Well-Being was considered as independent variable and Neuroticism was considered as dependent variable. The results indicated that Neuroticism was negatively associated with Subjective Well-Being (-.156).

Introduction. The article deals with the phenomenon of subjective economic well-being as a multidimensional socio-psychological formation. The authors analyze its role in economic, social and political changes and reforms in Ukraine as well as its impact on students' life, mood and well-being. The aim of the study. To describe the content and structure of student subjective economic well-being. Research methods. The study was conducted using the V. O. Hashchenko "Subjective Economic Well-being" questionnaire. Results. Assessment of the level of student economic activity using the indicators of subjective economic well-being (SEW) showed the normal distribution of its partial and integral indicators. The predictors of the subjective economic well-being index were all partial indicators in the whole sample and in groups with low, below average, and above average values. The group with a high level of subjective economic well-being (three out of five indicators) had stable and qualitative homogeneity of the regression system. The analysis of relationships showed that economic anxiety was a system-forming indicator, which, in the relationships system, had different subjective meanings and was perceived differently, thus actualizing and blocking economic activity. Conclusions. The SEW index is a socio-psychological measure, which characterizes subjective economic activity and reflects the degree and qualitative originality of subjective economic activity because of the SEW index's integration of the cognitive and affective components. The authors analyzed the manifestations and structural and functional organization of the partial components, which belonged to the cognitive and affective components of subjective economic activity.

Immigration has an ambiguous effect on the subjective well-being (SWB) of receiving societies. Being small, it is rather positive. This conclusion is preliminary and requires further investigations, which corresponds to results of numerous studies of the immigration impact on the objective well-being of people in more developed countries. According to these studies, some social groups, mainly low qualified workers, suffer from immigration facing the risks of rising unemployment and lowering incomes. Besides, the increase of the foreign born population with different cultural background originates threats to national identities of natives. At the same time, the inflow of foreigners improves economic performance and as a rule contributes to ameliorating of work and life conditions for the population majority in the receiving countries. The rise of the objective well-being of large social groups, both taking place and being expected, in comparison with its previous indices and with other groups, including immigrants, is refracted in indicators of SWB. Such positive effect was revealed in some recent studies. The conclusion of a positive impact of immigration on SWB in receiving societies looks like a paradox amid a negative public opinion about immigration, demonstrated in street protests against the assault of identities of different cultural backgrounds and in electoral support of anti-immigrant political parties. Nevertheless, such negativism is, first of all, peculiar for the assessments of national sequences of immigration. And these assessments are based on warped perceptions of the scale and impact of the foreign born population flow, being influenced by external factors. Besides, the influence of national assessments on life satisfaction and feeling of happiness is very small. Meanwhile, the public image of the immigration impact on personal life, life of family members and of the home town, which is based on personal experience and more adequate knowledge of local processes, is less critical and more favorable. As opposed to national assessments, the effect of such natives' perception of the immigration micro-social effects on their SWB is much more important. (This is mainly due to a higher significance for SWB of current developments in peoples' personal life and in their immediate social environment, compared to macro-social issues).

Abstract The relationship between religion and subjective well-being has received research attention in recent decades with mixed results, particularly related to life satisfaction, fewer traumatic outcomes, and happiness. With the assumption that the connection between religion and subjective well-being depends on the context and the religious certainty of participants and considering that majority of religion-well-being research were carried out predominantly in contexts of diminishing centrality of institutional religion and religious fervor, this paper specifically researches early career professionals with claims to religiousness and religious certainties in three of Ghana’s public universities. Using the mixed-method of research with two-hundred and thirty-six surveys and twenty-five in-depth interviews we found that our participants understanding of subjective well-being reflects the complexity of the subject. We also found that while their claims indicate a strong relationship between their religiosities and their well-being, particularly through religious meaning-making, these are not without elements of negative relationships. We conclude that, while the data offers some unique insights, it further supports the view of the complexities in the conclusions on religiosity and well-being.

International competition and globalization of business and organizations, rapid technological change and higher customer demands for products and services with increasing emphasis on environmental issues change working life. Under these pressures in order to survive and make a positive result, companies must develop both their organization and people simultaneously with their products and technologies for improving the performance, work ability, commitment and well-being of employees. Therefore study of subjective well-being among male and female employees in IT industry is of paramount importance. Such study may affect the performance and over all well-being of not only employees but also of the organization as a whole. The study is descriptive in nature whereby an attempt is made to compare the level of subjective well-being among male and female employees in IT industry with the help of two questionnaires (Satisfaction with Life Scale and Positive Affectivity and Negative Affectivity Scale) and utilizing the survey technique. Subjective well-being is statistically analyzed by means, standard deviations, and t-ratio. The study shows that gender is not a determinant of subjective well-being, and both males and females perceive subjective well-being or evaluate their lives in a similar way. The level of life satisfaction among male and female IT employees is not comparable and there existed significant gender difference in the level of life satisfaction. The level of positive affectivity and negative affectivity among male and female IT employees was comparable and there exists no significant gender difference in the level of positive affectivity.

In two daily diary studies we examined the moderating role of sensation seeking in the patterns of relations between physical pleasure and life satisfaction. In study 1 (a 52‐day daily diary study), daily physical pleasure was a significantly stronger predictor of daily social satisfaction among high sensation seekers than among low sensation seekers. We extended the finding of study 1 to more general daily satisfaction in study 2 (a 23‐day diary study). The present findings indicate that physical pleasure is associated with daily satisfaction to the degree that one seeks for such an experience. In addition, we tested whether the association between physical pleasure and daily satisfaction would be moderated also by other facets of extraversion and extraversion as a whole. With the exception of the positive emotion facet in study 1, no facet or extraversion as a whole moderated the relation between physical pleasure and daily satisfaction. The present studies show specificity and replicability of the role that sensation seeking plays in understanding the link between daily physical pleasure and daily satisfaction. Gays as discrimination in Indonesia also need subjective well-being and they have difficulty in fulfilling their subjective well-being. Researchers aim to conduct research to determine subjective well being in gays. The development of the times is also the way we think about a phenomenon that occurs in the environment around us One of them is the right of everyone to choose and have a life partner, but sometimes it is also inseparable from deviations that are currently increasingly occurring and increasingly becoming things that are starting to be accepted and taken for granted by some people, one of which is having a same-sex / homosexual partner. The research method used is qualitative research conducted with a phenomenological approach, with data mining techniques through on-on-one interview type interviews and questions arranged based on three components that can describe subjective well being, namely life satisfaction, happiness, and high welfare (Diener, 2009). In this study, the subject search was carried out Snowball Sampling technique by setting the criteria for the research subject as follows: a same-sex enthusiast or LGBT or Gay, still in a relationship or having a same-sex partner until now, and willing to willingly become a research subject. The subjects numbered 4 People. The results of research that have been conducted show the results that there are six things that describe subjective well-being in gays, namely life satisfaction, self-esteem, life experiences, romantic relationships with partners, family, and religion. The results of interviews on all four subjects also showed that all four subjects had high levels of subjective well-being.

The article deals with the role of a person's subjective age in his psychological well-being. Subjective age is the self—perception of one's own age, it’s a subjective age identification. Foreign and domestic studies convincingly show the predictive role of subjective age in life expectancy, somatic health, regulation of vital activity; countering stress and post-stress disorders, as well. Subjective age becomes an intuitive assessment of a person's own resources, possibilities of their reorganization and integration in threatening situations. This is a flexible psychological mechanism for regulating vital activity. Subjective age is considered as a predictor of successful aging, which is important not only for psychology, but also for economics and social policy. The question of the interrelationship between a person's subjective age and indicators of his psychological well-being remains open. Many scientific papers point to the importance of psychological factors, including subjective age, for psychological well-being. At the same time, several longitudinal studies suggest the opposite: health and well-being may be prerequisites for subjective age.

Students’ adjustment and well-being in a cross-cultural context have become important topics in international higher education studies. This study explored the psychological mechanism underlying the impact of perceived discrimination and perceived health status on the subjective well-being of international students. The responses of 358 international students were analyzed using the survey datasets. The results indicated that the perceived health status of international students had a significantly positive impact on their subjective well-being. Conversely, perceived discrimination had a negative impact on subjective well-being and community satisfaction. Notably, community satisfaction mediated the relationship between perceived discrimination and subjective well-being. Furthermore, the results revealed that the effect of community satisfaction on subjective well-being varied between the Asian and non-Asian students. These findings can assist higher education program providers in developing a community-oriented support system for students striving to adjust to cross-cultural environments.

AbstractThis study aims to examine the effect of individual needs on subjective well-being employees in the PPKGBK office (Center for Management of the Bung Karno Complex). This research uses a quantitative approach involving 161 PPKGB employees. Sampling was carried out using probability sampling with accidental sampling technique. The author uses a measuring instrument namely The Modified BBC Subjective Well-Being Scale (BBC-SWB) developed by Kinderman, Schwannauer, Pontin & Tai (2011). The data analysis technique used to answer the research question is multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of the major hypothesis test, the first conclusion obtained from this study is that there is a significant influence between individual needs on subjective well-being of employees at the headquarters of the Bung Karno complex management. Then, based on the results of the minor hypothesis test there are two variables whose regression coefficient values are significant namely: abasement dan achievement, while 14 other variables were not significant.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh individual need terhadap subjective well-being pegawai di kantor PPKGBK (Pusat Pengelolaan Kompleks Gelora Bung Karno). The article reports initial results of children’s subjective wellbeing survey in Pakistan. The survey was carried out in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan. A total of 3600 children, within the age group 8 to 12 years, took part in the survey. This research is a sequel of the International Survey of Children’s Wellbeing (ISCWeB) dealing with children’s perceptions regarding their wellbeing. It encompasses the views of children about their family, peer relation, safety, agency, economic conditions and education. Moreover, it investigated their level of satisfaction with themselves, thus focusing on their overall well-being. The researcher found that children are highly satisfied with their lives. Among the three age categories, the highest level of satisfaction was showed by the eight years old age group, within that girls have higher results in comparison with boys. However, the lowest results were seen among children of twelve years old. Furthermore, no significant differences were seen in the wellbeing of children based on the area they live in. Nonetheless, a slightly higher satisfaction was observed among the children living in rural areas.
