Resumo:

In 1906, an all-Ukrainian national pilgrimage set off from Lviv to the Holy Land, in which more than 500 people took part. This was the first official pilgrimage from Ukraine after the glorious Danylo the Pilgrim. It became possible thanks to Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi. The details of this pilgrimage are described in detail in a commemorative book entitled «How Russ followed in the footsteps of Danylo», published in 1907 by the Publishing House of the Basilian Fathers in Zhovkva. However, this book does not mention anything about one of the grandiose projects of Metropolitan Andrey in the Middle East, which consisted in the creation of a Studite Monastery and a Pilgrim Center for pilgrims from Ukraine in Bethlehem. Negotiations on this matter with the Melchite Patriarch Cyril VIII were initiated by Metropolitan Andrey. The core of the project was of a Uniate character, since in the Metropolitan’s plans the Monastery with a Pilgrimage Center was to become a place of mutual knowledge and rapprochement between Orthodox and Catholics. For the realization of this aim, Metropolitan Andrey had allocated very respectable funds, and also began to train appropriate personnel from the Studite monks. But, unfortunately, due to various circumstances, mainly because of the outbreak of the First World War, this project was never implemented. In the Central State Historical Archive of Lviv there are many documents that shed light on the various stages of the implementation of the project for the construction of the Studite monastery and pilgrimage center for the Ukrainians in Bethlehem. This article presents the entire story of the planned but unfinished project of Metropolitan Andrey. Archival documents and their translations are published for the first time. Resumo:

This study studies the topics of the publications of the magazines «Yasna Put» (1935―1939s) and «Prominchyk Sontsia Liubovy» (1936―1937s). Those were issued by the monks of the Univ Holy Dormition Lavra of the Studite Rite. The religious press is one of the factors of social progress, specifically the development of spiritual and moral values. For the Ukrainian nation, it is also a significant means of social consolidation. A special place in the religious periodicals of the interwar period was occupied by the print media of monk orders and congregations. This study aims to determine the role of the Univ monks’ periodicals as a type of mission in preaching the Gospel and the spiritual renewal of the Ukrainian society. Analysis of the publications shows that «Yasna Put» helped the monks to understand their calling, to delve into it, to take the difficult path to the perfection of cognition of the God and approach to Him, as well as to spread the faith and preach the Gospel. The theological discourse of the Studite Rite and the problems of the history of the Ukrainian monasticism, the revival of the monasticism traditions based on the principles of the Early Church Fathers are present in the publications’ topics. At the same time, through «Prominchyk Sontsia Liubovy», the monks brought the word of God to the laity Christians, promoted among the youth «moral-religious education» and family values. Based on these findings, we conclude that the monks of the Univ Holy Dormition Lavra of the Studite Rite were open to dialogue, and their periodicals were the means of communication, dissemination of Christian values and the principles of the Early Church, as well as promoting the idea of ecumenism. The Studite Brethren are always the benchmark of living faith and an example of passing on the latter to neighbours in the Christian ethos. The increase or decrease in caring fatherhood in the 1990s was studied using data from two Dutch longitudinal studies with 256 respondents in total, ranging from noncaring fathers to very caring fathers. The authors first investigated the degree of instability of the fathers' caring arrangements. Then they looked at the factors relating to an increase or decrease in the care given by individual fathers. Using three blocks of variables, an attempt was made to explain the amount of instability in the care and the changes seen between the times t1 (1991) and t2 (1997). Their three blocks of variables represented the father's social and cultural context at t1, the father's value orientation at t1, and the father's family of origin, respectively. It was concluded that for an increase in caring fatherhood in the 1990s, the father's context was far more important than was his value orientation. Some aspects of a father's family of origin are also important: a good relationship with his own father is positively associated with the continuation of, or increase in, caring fatherhood.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between family health, family health, and parenting attitudes of fathers with early childhood children. Methods As for the research method, data were collected using the father's original family health, family health, and parenting attitude test tools, and after conducting a preliminary survey of 10 fathers, the main survey was conducted. A questionnaire was distributed to fathers of kindergarten students in K city, Gyeonggi-do, and a total of 244 fathers were studied, excluding 28 unfaithful out of 272 collected questionnaires. For the analysis method, descriptive statistical analysis and Pearson correlation analysis were performed using SPSS 26. Results As a result of the study, the father’s family of origin health, the family health, then parenting attitudes of Fathers were found. This can be interpreted to mean that the father perceives the current family relationship positively and perceives it as a positive experience with the family of origin. On the other hand, the parenting attitude is relatively low, suggesting the need to supplement the child rearing attitude. As a result of examining the relationship between father's family health, family health, and parenting attitude, each factor showed a positive correlation. The relationship between sub-factors generally showed a positive correlation, but the controlling attitude showed a negative correlation. This can be interpreted that fathers with high control attitude scores have low family health and family health scores. Conclusions It was found that the parenting attitude of fathers with young children has an important relationship between the health of the family of origin and the health of the family. This suggests that it is necessary to expand fathers' participation in educational institutions for active participation of fathers and the formation of desirable parenting attitudes. Finally, the results of this study are meaningful as basic data for data development for fathers.

Absent fathers are pervasive in American culture. Father absence is pathological and severely affects the abandoned son's capacity for self-esteem and intimacy. The reason for and type of father absence is important in determining the effects on the adult son. This article discusses the impact of a father's absence on his abandoned son's struggle with self-esteem and intimacy and proposes a treatment model for abandoned sons.

Based on the peer-reviewed scientific monograph by I.O. Shev- chenko, the article presents an analytical review of the social practices of fa - therhood in modern Russian society, the phenomenon of lonely fatherhood that is least studied in the sociological community, as well as the issue of divorced fathers and stepfathers. Against the background of many years of sociological research, among the most important issues in the monograph the following are highlighted: Russians’ ideas about fathers and fatherhood; social practices of fatherhood; aisespaternity in families of various structural types. The book shows the evolution of the meanings of paternity as claimed by men of different ages, married and divorced. It defines the anthropological and biological, personal, socio-economic, spiritual, gender meanings of fatherhood and presents the models of paternity: an impersonal father, an authoritarian father, a kind father. The author of the monograph raises an issue of the importance of the father in the life of the child and also manages through analysis of 830 essays written by schoolchildren to build a “live” dialogue between fathers and children. More - over based on 47 in-depth interviews the topic of fathers and children in difficult situations of family breakdown is raised. An image of the substitute father – stepfather is considered, the types of their behavior in relation to the adopted child are highlighted: active, neutral, and passive. The topic of lonely fatherhood, stereotypes of modern society in relation to single fathers is touched upon. Final - ly, among the original plots of the monograph, one can note: the creation of the father’s image in cinema and the analysis of the network communities of fathers. The author of the article concludes that the phenomenon of paternity is multifaceted and contradictory in modern Russian society and that there is the need for its further study in the direction proposed in the reviewed scientific monograph.

The idea of God’s fatherhood seems very obvious in the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus presents God as the Father who wants all what is good for all His children and invites all His children for a deep, spontaneous and intimate relationship with Him. The idea of God’s fatherhood is present especially in the prayer which Jesus taught His disciples. The “Our Father” is a Christian prayer but it has Jewish roots. Jesus was a Hebrew and prayed according to Jewish faith. The structure of “Our Father” is as follows: invocation followed by seven requests. The contents of the prayer reveal many references to Jewish prayers, known already at the time of Jesus (Abinu malkenu, Kaddish, Shemoneh Esreh). The similarities between “Our Father” and various prayers of the Jews do not exclude uniqueness of the prayer which Jesus taught His disciples. The idea of God’s fatherhood is present also in other parts of the Sermon on the mountain: the blessings of the peacemakers (Mt 5,9), the role of the disciples (Mt 5,13-16), love for enemies (Mt 5,43-45); the call to follow Christ (Mt 5,48); the Father who sees in secret (Mt 6,1-6.1618); Father’s forgiveness (Mt 6,14-15); Father’s care (Mt 6,25-34); Father’s goodness (Mt 7,7-11) and God’s fatherly will (Mt 7,21). All these passages, just like the prayer “Our Father”, underline the importance of filial trust in God as the Father.

Resumo:

Although sports fandom is one of the broadest and most significant social phenomena in modern life, few studies have examined the sources of children’s sports fandom. The reason may be related to the presumption that the main source of a child’s fandom is his or her father. Indeed, literature has repeatedly stressed the role of the family, and specifically the father, in shaping children’s identification with sports teams, alongside other social and psychological factors. The current study examines the significance of the untypical cases in which a son does not follow his father’s path and chooses to support a different soccer team. As uncommon cases frequently highlight what is commonly taken for granted, the current study explores the deep meanings of a disruption in fandom legacy that fathers typically take for granted. Through in-depth interviews with fathers whose children support a soccer team other than their own, the current study identifies that such fandom choices of sons, impact fathers on four levels, namely family legacy, team heritage, masculinity, and religious identification. Intergenerational fandom conflicts between father and son highlight the powerful implications of fans’ connections to their respective teams, and the continuing role of gender-based expectations in the world of sports.

This study aimed to investigate the perception of the adolescent father regarding his interaction with the health services, school and community. It is an extract from the multicentric study turned Social Support Networks for Fatherhood in Adolescence, and has a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive approach. It was undertaken with 14 adolescent fathers in a university hospital. The semi-structured interviews were held six months after the birth of the child, between 2009 and 2010. Discursive textual analysis and the theoretical framework of Urie Bronfenbrenner were used for the construction of three categories: The adolescent father's perception regarding his interaction with the school; with the health services; and with the community. The adolescent fathers were shown to be receptive to formal study, and present and participative in the health services and community; the possible difficulties of interaction between the adolescent fathers and the environments studied seem to result from the lack of organization and appropriate preparation for embracing them.

The canon of Western art history provides a selection of artists that have supposedly made an 'original' contribution to stylistic innovation within the visual arts. Although a process of selection cannot be avoided, this procedure has resulted in a Eurocentric and patriarchal art canon. For example, the Western art canon consists of certain white male artists who are given exclusive authority and are often referred to as the 'fathers of art'. As the status of a 'father of art' pertains to the highest level of achievement within artistic creativity, I argue that this excellence in creativity is based on a gender specific criteria. This issue refers to the patrilineage within Western art history and how this father-son model, in a general sense, excludes women artists from the canon. Further, the very few women included in the art canon are not given the equivalent status as a 'father of art'. I address this patriarchal bias through focussing on the father/daughter relationship as a way of challenging the patrilineage within Western art historys patrilineage. Through this process of intervention, I position the daughter an assertive figure who directly confronts the fathers of Western art. Within this confrontation, I emphasise that the daughter has an assertive identity that is also beyond the father. On this premise my paper is based on the argument that the application of a father/daughter model, within a metaphorical and mythological sense, is useful in subverting the father figures within Western art history. That is, I construct myself as the metaphorical and mythological daughter of the Dada artist, Marcel Duchamp and the Fluxus artist, Joseph Beuys. As an assertive daughter, I insert myself into the patriarchal framework surrounding these two canonical figures in order to decentre and subvert their authority and phallocentric art practice. It is important to note that both Duchamp and Beuys are addressed as case studies (not as individual arguments) that illustrate the patriarchal constructs of the art canon. Within this premise, I draw upon the female artists Sherrie Levine and Jana Sterbak who directly subvert Western father figures as examples of assertive daughter identities. Within this exploration of the assertive daughter identity, I discuss feminist psychoanalysis (particularly the 'object relations' theorist Nancy Chodorow and the French feminist, Luce Irigaray) in order to offer metaphorical representations of the assertive daughter. These metaphors also assist in subverting the gender (male) specific criteria for creativity under the 'law of the father'.

While reducing food insecurity is a major health initiative, most studies and programs focus only on health-related outcomes and not on other types of hardships. This secondary data analysis of the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study examined the relationship between food insecurity and housing instability with social support, parental depression, and material hardship in vulnerable fathers. Using structural equation modeling on Wave 3 data, the final resulting model was X2 (4, N= 4898) = 3.72 at p = .444. For fathers, material hardship, depression, social support impact the relationship between food insecurity and housing instability. This research has implications for programs and services that may serve low income, single, or minority fathers and families to provide supports to improve food and house instabilities. Agencies and organizations should examine material hardship, not just health-related outcomes. They should provide services for mental health concerns as well as facilitate greater social support.

Föräldrarollen, och upplevelserna av den, varierar alltid utifrån många olika faktorer. Under mitten av 1900-talet var den gällande familjenormen att mödrarna tog allt ansvar för hem och omsorg av barnen, medan fäderna stod för försörjningen. Fäderna gavs alltså bara en liten möjlighet att lära känna/knyta an till sina barn när de var små. Vilka effekter detta kan ha haft på relationen mellan fäderna och deras barn, då barnen blivit vuxna, är i stort sett ett outforskat område. Den här studien ämnar kunna belysa dessa. En kvalitativ studie genomfördes där ett antal äldre ensamstående fäder har intervjuats om deras upplevelser och erfarenheter av att vara småbarnsförälder under denna tid. Resultaten från intervjuerna, tillsammans med relevant teori, har gett oss insikt i och förståelse för hur deras situation såg ut då och hur de upplever deras dåvarande fadersroll samt deras nuvarande relationer med de nu vuxna barnen. De visade sig att alla de äldre fäderna som deltog i studien anser sig ha goda, och vad som ger intrycket av att vara kravlösa, relationer med sina nu vuxna barn. Detta trots deras vetskap om vissa försummelser av dem då de var små. Den dåvarande normen gällande familjeordning verkar inte ha haft någon negativ inverkan på just detta.
The parent role and the experiences of being a parent depends on many different factors. During the mid 20th century the standard family construction was that the mothers took on all responsibility regarding the household and caring for children while the fathers were in charge of the bread winning. The fathers were given very little opportunity to get to know/attach to their children when they were young. The effects this could have on the relationships between the fathers and their grownup children is a rather unexplored field. This study aims to elucidate this. A qualitative study was carried through where a number of elderly single fathers were interviewed concerning their experiences of being a parent to a small child during this era. The results from the interviews along with relevant theory have given us knowledge and understanding about their current situation, how they now experience the parent role they had then, as well as about the current relationships they have with their now adult children. It turned out that all the participating elderly fathers consider them selves to have good, and what gives the impression of being unconditioned, relationships with their adult children. Even though the fathers are well aware of the fact that they somehow did neglect their children when they were young. The standard family order that was the rule at the time does not seem to have had any negative effect on the relationships.

Resumo:

Parents of a child diagnosed with autism have a high risk for physical and emotional stress with mental health difficulties. Little research exists regarding fathers with an autistic child, and less information exists on African American fathers who struggle with coping and finding appropriate interventions and resources for raising an autistic child. The purpose of this interpretative, phenomenological study was to analyze the lived experiences of 12 African American fathers raising their child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. This study's theoretical lens was Bowen's family systems theory. The data from this study consisted of 12 interviews with African American fathers using an open-ended and semistructured format. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The fathers' descriptions of their lived experiences yielded 4 themes: father's interaction with the child, emotional reactions, discipline of the child, and awareness support of autism spectrum disorder. African American fathers indicated positive results caring for their child with autism and desired effective interventions to increase the child's continued success for the future. Findings supported the father's presence as significant as the mothers when caring for a child diagnosed with autism. Implications for positive social change include professionals understanding the lived experiences of the African American father, such as increased community supports, resources, advocates, education, and awareness in the African American community.

AbstractUsing data from the multi-actor Divorce in Flanders survey, this study aimed to provide a more comprehensive understanding of linkages between children’s living arrangements after divorce and father-child relationship quality. First, we tested whether father involvement and co-parental relationship quality explained linkages between living arrangements and father-child relationship quality. Second, we examined whether child’s loyalty conflicts and child’s sex moderated associations between living arrangements and father-child relationship quality. Finally, we explored whether results differed when fathers or children reported on their relationship. Results show that father-child relationship quality (irrespectively of the reporter) was significantly higher for children living in JPC but only compared to children who live solely with their mother. Furthermore, father involvement explained the association between living arrangements and father-child relationship quality (again irrespectively of the reporter). The co-parental relationship also explained part of this association, but only when children reported on father-child relationship quality. The association between children’s living arrangement and father-child relationship quality was stronger for sons than daughters. This association did not differ by loyalty conflicts. These findings highlight the importance of enabling fathers to remain involved after divorce and having a positive co-parental relationship for maintaining high quality relationships between fathers and children.

AbstractThis chapter focuses on father-child wellbeing arguing that fathers are emotionally transformed by having a child and that children have a beneficial influence on father’s health and positive engagement in work. Previous research described how involved fatherhood offers men the opportunity to resist practices of risk-taking, denial of treatment, expression of anger, which are harmful to their health. However, studies on the relationship between fathers and children often overlook the mutual beneficial effects that these family members have on each other. Based on findings from 47 qualitative interviews and 6 observations with Scottish and Romanian involved fathers and their children, I show how children were described by fathers as re-energizing them for work and helping them let go of negative health habits, such as smoking, drugs, and reckless driving. Fathers in turn, adopted a long-term perspective for their health and wellbeing brought on by planning for the future. Conclusively, children seem to play an important role in counteracting the toxic aspects of masculinity, as children were described as helping fathers shift emotionally from stoicism and control to increased nurturance and emotional openness, thereby affecting their wellbeing in positive ways.

Funny Fathers. Types of the ridiculous old man in Dostoevsky’s novels The first chapters from Dostoevsky’s novel Netochka Nezvanova deal with the fate and the peculiar story of life of the heroine’s stepfather. He is called Efimov and, being an alcoholic and overconfident, he plunges his family into misery. Therefore, he can be considered a prototype of ridiculous father figures occurring in the great novels (Marmeladov from Crime and Punishment, General Ivolgin from The Idiot and Stepan Trofimovič from The Demons). The article focuses on the determining character traits of these figures who embody the dramatic failure of the father generation. While characterising those laughable vecchi, special attention is given to the seemingly paradox criterium of the tragicomic, which finally results in questioning the tension between freedom and a predetermined fate.

AbstractFathers’ involvement with their children has a substantial influence on both their children’s and their families’ health and development. Studied effects on child outcomes are reviewed within each phase of a child’s development (prenatal, infancy, childhood and adolescence). In addition, the impact of the physical and mental health of fathers on the health of their children is considered. This review advocates for policies enhancing father involvement, accessible and more extensive paternity leave, and increased attention to paternal postpartum depression by the medical community.

ABSTRACT Background: The death of a child is a painful experience for parents. The distress of bereaved fathers remained inadequately understood since most of the existing studies had concentrated mainly on the mothers’ experience. This scoping review aimed to investigate the fathers’ experience on the incident of newborn death. Subjects and Method: A scoping review method was conducted in eight stages including (1) Identification of study problems; (2) Determining priority problem and study question; (3) Determining framework; (4) Literature searching; (5) Article selection; (6) Critical appraisal; (7) Data extraction; and (8) Mapping. The research question was identified using population, exposure, and outcome(s) (PEOS) framework. The search included PubMed, Wiley Online Library, Science Direct, ProQuest, EBSCO, gray literature through the Google Scholar search engine databases. The inclusion criteria were English-language and primary studied full-text articles published between 2010 and 2019. A total of 307 articles were obtained by the searched database. After the review process, seven articles were eligible for this review. The data were reported by the PRISMA flow chart. Results: A total of 307 articles were obtained by the searched databases. After screening, 55,052 articles were excluded because of 54,847 articles with irrelevant topics, 22 book review articles, and 183 duplicate articles. Of the remaining 88 articles, only 18 articles met the inclusion criteria. After conducting critical appraisal, a total of six articles from developed countries (Australia, Sweden, Spain, and Columbia) with qualitative studies was selected to further review. This review emphasized three main topics about experiences of fathers after the death of the newborn, namely psychological conditions and coping behaviors of fathers, and supportive care from health professionals. Conclusion: Further support and care of health professionals need to focus on fathers’ experience of grief following newborn death, especially on their physical and mental well-being. The purpose of this study was to compare parenting styles of mothers and fathers of Greek adolescents, aged 12-18. A total of 132 Greek couples were studied with the Parenting Style Four Factor Questionnaire (PS-FFQ). The results showed that although more than half of parent couples (56.8%) exhibit agreement in parenting styles, with the authoritative parenting style being the most preferable and the uninvolved parenting style the least preferable parenting style among both parents, mothers were oriented towards more positive and effective parenting styles than fathers.

The propositus, female aged 1 year, was investigated because of severe bruising. Bleeding time (BT) was in excess of 20 mins, VIIIC <0.01 u/ml and vWF Ag and ristocetin cofactor absent. Family studies showed:-Multimeric analysis was not possible on the propositus, but was normal in the plasma of all other family members. The father of the propositus, however, had an abnormal multimer pattern on lysed platelets, in that the faint low molecular weight doublet is absent and a dense band in the position of the lower band of the doublet with anodal and cathodal trailing.The maternal grandmother and mother appear to have asynpto-matic type I vWD and the father possibly has asymptomatic type I together with an alteration in the biologically vWF site with loss of the ristocetin site. This abnormality is not seen in his parents and his daughter possibly has type III vWD. Resumo:

Beginning with works of architecture ranging from Qingyun Ma’s Father’s House to Robert Morris’s Select Architecture, a series of introductory studios tasked students with the analysis and redesign of an assigned precedent. The precedent was presented as an interlocuter rather than an authority. It guaranteed nothing, and could neither be dismissed nor followed in any straight-forward way. The aim was to present architecture’s history as a series of incomplete acts requiring interpretative reassessment. Students were encouraged to view their work as contributing-to an interpretative context surrounding (yet always exceeding) the precedent. Thus, the studio sought to develop a model of design agency based neither on the inimitable “perfection” of supposed exemplars,nor on the self-expression of the supposedly autonomous designer. Precedents provide an object of analysis and acontext for meaningful action. Rather than decontextualized objects and claims, the redesign is understood in relation to the original—amplifying, qualifying, challenging, criticizing, or undermining.

From the perspective of developing countries, we know relatively little about married adolescent males and adolescent fathers, and much of what we know is inferred from research with young women or comes from a few specific regions in the world. However, there has been a growing interest in the issue on the part of researchers, policy-makers, and program staff. This interest has coincided with increasing attention in general to men, with gender studies, and with sexual and reproductive health initiatives. Early marriage and early childbearing are much more prevalent among young women than young men, and the negative consequences are more significant among young women. Nonetheless, it is the behavior and attitudes of men, within social contexts where gender hierarchies favor men over women, that often create young women’s vulnerability. Much of the research and literature on adolescent fathers comes from Latin America, the Caribbean, North America, and Europe. This paper reviews some of the literature on young married men and young fathers, concluding with suggestions for engaging young men to promote better reproductive and sexual health and more favorable life outcomes for married adolescent women and young men.

Review question / Objective: Guided by the PRISMA guidelines, this study aims to systematically review and meta-analyze the literature exploring the association between parents’ basic and higher-order executive functions in adulthood (working memory, inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, planning, reasoning, problem-solving) and positive and negative parenting outcomes (parenting practices, behaviors, styles). Eligibility criteria: his meta-analysis will include: 1) Studies that analyze the association of mothers’/ fathers’ basic and higher-order executive functions in adulthood and parenting outcomes (e.g., parental styles, behaviors, quality of interaction, abusive or violent practices); 2) Quantitative empirical studies (correlational, longitudinal, and group comparison designs); 3) Peer-reviewed articles or dissertations, published in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. The exclusion criteria are: 1) Studies analyzing children’s executive functions; 2) Studies analyzing children’s developmental outcomes; 3) Studies not focusing on parenting outcomes; 4) Qualitative studies, and non-empirical studies such as theoretical reviews, systematic reviews, or meta-analyses.

Based on a cross-country comparison of dynamic new firms, this paper attempts to characterize Latin American middle-class entrepreneurs and their firms. In general, Latin American middle-class entrepreneurs tend to face more difficult conditions in terms of resources and skills acquisition than those belonging to more affluent social strata. They tend to have earlier exposure to business experience since they generally belong to families in which their fathers' occupation allowed for such exposure, and the universities where they studied are sounder platforms for developing abilities and contacts. Likewise, compared to middle-class entrepreneurs from more developed regions, Latin American middle- class entrepreneurs tend to be less exposed to the business world and entrepreneurial role models. Additionally, they are more likely to rely on a less qualified and less business-specific support network, and initial financing is less accessible to them. The paper summarizes several key policy implications and recommendations derived from the analysis.

Main objective of the study: analyze what Ukrainian scientists, journalists and different media are writing about Sheptytkyi’s ecumenism. Methodology: We used a bibliographic method to accumulate factual material, a qualitative content analysis to isolate the ideas of ecumenism from the journalism of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi, a cultural-historical method that made it possible to consider the ideas of ecumenism in the context of the era, the connection with the historical context, as well as methods of synthesis and generalization, induction and deduction. The study process description: In our scientific article, we analyzed the doctoral dissertation of His Beatitude Lubomyr Huzar entitled «Andrei Sheptytskyi, Metropolitan of Halytskyi (1901-1944). Herald of ecumenism». His Beatitude Lubomyr defended this fundamental work at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome back in 1972. Therefore, we observed how this work reflects the historical prerequisites, features and development of Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism, who, according to His Beatitude Lubomir, was a kind of innovator in this field, a person who was ahead of his time. We also analyzed the reflections on the ecumenism of Sheptytskyi´s father, doctor Ivan Datsk, which are reflected in his book «In Search of Faithfulness and Truth». In addition, we turned to the scientific text «Ecumenism of Sheptytskyi» by professors Mykola Vegesh and Mykola Palinchak. Subsequently, it was analyzed how the scientific work became a useful basis for the coverage of Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism in the press. In particular, in the columns of the cultural and social site «Zbruch» in Diana Motruk’s article «In Search of Church Unity». We also turned to the «Spiritual Greatness of Lviv» website, where in 2020 an interview with Mykhailo Perun, who shot the film «Sheptytskyi: Relevant information», was published, illustrating the ecumenical initiatives of this figure. In addition, we analyzed the publication on Radio Svoboda for 2022, dedicated to the anniversary of Sheptytsky’s stepping into eternity. It is also mentioned there about of Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism as his landmark activity. Subsequently, we found an article on the website «Christian and the World», where in a conversation with the scientist Dr. Andrii Sorokovskyi entitled «Andrei Sheptytskyi believed that the union is a synthesis, communion and dialogue between the East and the West, – Andrii Sorokovskyi» also analyzed the phenomenon of Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism. Results: we discovered that Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism was studied not only by numerous scientists, but this meaningful legacy of his is a valuable phenomenon for media coverage. Therefore, Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism becomes the subject of interest of journalists not only of publications that write mainly on church topics, but also socio-political and artistic ones. We are sure that Sheptytskyi’s ecumenism will continue to be studied by professional scientists and representatives of the wider media community. Significance: journalism of a religious orientation, high-quality and substantiated coverage of religious processes and phenomena in the press is still something quite new for modern Ukraine. In Soviet times, journalists were afraid to write about religion in order not to incur the wrath of the authorities, so such materials could not be included in the press. That is why it is very important to study how today’s journalists cover important issues of religion, which, in addition, have a strong scientific basis. In addition, the development of ecumenism and religious unity are extremely important for building national unity, which is necessary for our state to effectively confront the enemy in full-scale war.
