This thesis is devoted to small business strategy. In the theoretical section all the important parts of the strategic cycle are gradually summarized. The practical section is closely linked with the theoretical one and gradually applies the theoretical knowledge from the first part to the specific example of a small business. After determining the vision and the mission a detailed internal and external analysis is described for small business. Than particular models are being applied on the specific case in order to determine the strategies for the chosen company. Based on the information gathered, the thesis deals with the evaluation of strategies, their selection and design of their implementation in practice. These three essential procedures are set out as a goal of this thesis. In the end, we get to evaluate the strategy chosen according to various criteria, its proposal to introduce into practice and recommendations for future action by the company as well as their justification.

The thesis is divided into individual chapters of the theoretical and practical part. The aim is to develop and evaluate strategies for the company STAKOSOLAR Ltd. stemming both from the theoretical knowledge as well as the specific data obtained in this company. Theoretical findings were drawn from literature and other resources dealing with this issue. The practical part is devoted to the characteristics of the chosen company, applying the knowledge provided in the theoretical part on the case, the selected small businesses. Attention will be focused on the individual steps of the strategic cycle starting from firm conviction of the company's management about the necessity of defining a strategy, up to design and plan of implementation of a specific strategy for the business. The thesis outlines some of the possible options for future development, assesses their demands and the pros and cons of the possible.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the current marketing and communication strategy of the company Lackfolie s.r.o. This thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. As for the theoretical part, it deals with the notion of marketing, it describes the overall marketing process and the individual parts of the marketing mix. In the first chapter of the practical part the company Lackfolie s.r.o. is presented. It is followed by the strategic analysis and the desription of the current corporate strategy. The last chapter concentrates on the recommendations connected to the marketing and communication strategy.

Abstract The primary research target of this dissertation is to develop new strategy analysis frameworks, focusing on analysing changes in strategic position as a function of variations in life cycle s-curve/time/typology/market share/orientation. Research is constructive and qualitative by nature, with case study methodology being the adopted approach. The research work is carried out as a compilation dissertation containing four (4) journal articles. The theoretical framework of this dissertation is built from strategy analysis, as well as from strategy orientation and typology theories. Strategy analysis focuses to examining the strengths of business positioning; understanding the external and internal factors that influence a position or orientation. In strategy analysis, several frameworks or tools can be used. The SWOT, PEST, Five Forces, Four Corners, Value Chain, and Blue Ocean strategy profile analysis frameworks are introduced in this research. Strategy orientation or focus can be described as the underlying attributes of a company’s strategy, which directs decision making and orients the activities within a company towards a specific course. Using strategy orientation or focus as a means of innovating and guiding decision making fosters an environment conducive to strategizing, thereby facilitating the formulation of the actual strategies followed by the company. In this dissertation, the Miles and Snow (1978) strategy typology is introduced along with market orientation, product orientation, technology orientation, and customer orientation (focus). This research contributes to existing literature in that it provides a set of strategy analysis frameworks. Each of the frameworks answers a specific research question within the research target. The frameworks created are life cycle with a strategy typology framework, four-way strategy orientation framework, strategy orientation framework with market share analysis, and orientation with a typology framework. All these frameworks can be used individually. Together, they build an analysis toolbox that can generate valuable information from analysis. The developed strategy analysis frameworks are tested with two case companies’ strategy materials taken from publicly available annual reports. The case companies are Nokia and Amer. Empirical results show that the developed strategy analysis frameworks can generate new information regarding case businesses strategy, and detect changes in strategic positions. The theoretical implications of this dissertation contribute to research on strategy analysis, and are a result of combining the perspectives adopted in the strategy analysis frameworks with those of the strategy orientation domain, thereby creating new strategy orientation analysis frameworks. Areas for further research include the linkage of business success to orientations, transformation strategies, and consumer focus as elements of strategy formulation
Tiivistelmä Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena on kehittää uusia strategian analyysikehikoita, joitten tavoitteena on tutkia muutoksia strategisessa asemassa. Muutosten lähteenä voivat olla vaihtelut elinkaaren/ajan/typologian/markkinaosuuden tai orientaation suhteen. Tutkimus on konstruktiivista ja laadullista, käyttäen case-tapaus menetelmää. Tutkimus on toteutettu julkaisuväitöskirjana, sisältäen neljä (4) tieteellistä julkaisua. Tämän tutkimuksen teoriaosuus on rakennettu strategia-analyysin, strategisen suuntautumisen ja typologian teorioista. Strategia-analyysissa tutkitaan yrityksen strategisen aseman vahvuutta, pyrkien ymmärtämään ulkoisten ja sisäisten tekijöiden vaikutuksen asemaan tai strategian suuntautumiseen. Strategia-analyysissa voidaan käyttää useita analyysikehikoita tai työkaluja. Tämän tutkimuksen teoriaosuudessa esitellään SWOT, PEST, Five Forces, Four Corners, arvoketju ja sinisen meren strategian analyysikehikot. Strategiseksi suuntaumiseksi tai keskittymiseksi voidaan luonnehtia niitä strategian piileviäkin ominaisuuksia, jotka tosiasiassa ohjaavat päätöksentekoa ja suuntavat yrityksen toimintoja kohti tiettyä päämäärää. Strateginen suuntautuminen tai keskittyminen ohjaa yrityksen todellisen strategisen suunnan määrittämistä. Tutkimuksen teoriaosuudessa esitellään Miles ja Snown (1978) strategiatypologia, kuten myös markkinasuuntautunut, tuotesuuntautunut, teknologiasuuntautunut ja asiakaskeskeisen strategian tunnuspiirteet. Tämän tutkimuksen tuloksena on syntynyt kokoelma strategian analyysikehikoita. Jokainen rakennettu analyysikehikko vastaa erilliseen tutkimuskysymykseen tutkimustavoitteen sisällä. Rakennetut kehikot ovat elinkaarimallin ja strategia typologia -analyysikehikko, neljän-suunnan strategisen suuntautumisen analyysikehikko, strategisen suuntaumisen ja markkinaosuuden analyysikehikko sekä strategisen suuntautumisen ja typologian analyysikehikko. Kaikkia näitä kehikoita voidaan käyttää erikseen strategian analysointiin. Yhdessä nämä kehikot muodostavat arvokkaan analyysityökalupakin. Kehitettyjä strategian analyysikehikkoja on testattu kahden case yrityksen strategia-aineistolla, jotka ovat olleet saatavilla julkisista vuosikertomuslähteistä. Case yrityksinä ovat Nokia ja Amer. Tutkimustulokset osoittavat, että kehitetyt analyysikehikot pystyvät tuottamaan uutta tietoa case yritysten strategiasta ja havainnoimaan muutoksia strategisessa asemassa. Tämän tutkimuksen tulokset luovat uutta tietoa strategisesta analyysista. Tutkimus yhdistää strategia-analyysin ja strategisen orientaation tutkimusta, ja luo uusia strategisen suuntautumisen analyysikehikoita. Jatkotutkimuskohteina voivat olla niin yrityksen liiketaloudellisen menestyksen suhde strategiseen orientaatioon, muutosstrategiat sekä asiakaskeskeisyys osana strategian muodostamista

The diploma Thesis is aimed to the application of strategy planning cycle for the small and medium enterprise operating in the waste management industry. The main goals of the Thesis were the internal and external analysis of the company. Considering the results to propose and evaluate some strategic options for the further development of the company and make an appropriate recommendation to the management. According to the results of the analysis the competitive advantage of the company is its specific know-how and the strong work team. The two proposed strategy variants are based on the gained data of the analysis. The first option of the company development is focused on the improvement of its processes and the company as a whole. The second strategy variant is aimed to the development of services provided. After the assessment of the variants from the three points of view: suitability, acceptability and feasibility, only the first variant seemed to be acceptable. Eventually the first option was recommended to the management of the company.

The creative industry is a relatively new sector of the economy that grows rapidly and possesses huge potential. Multinational corporations have achieved a certain stage of development being highly globalized, vertically integrated and efficient. However, the problem of defining appropriate strategies and adjusting management approaches to industry's specifics arises. Therefore, the goal of this Diploma thesis is to analyze cultural industry market and to explain differences in business strategy between classical and cultural companies. In this academic work, the great part of attention will be devoted to a number of peculiarities. Among them firstly, the way of managing creative labor force that significantly differs from other industries. Secondly, risk management and level of intellectual property rights protection may either incentivize or discourage further development of creative products. The last but not the least, brand awareness exerts a significant impact on company's performance, therefore, analysis on this issue will be provided.

The thesis deals with the strategic analysis of Tesco Stores a.s. The theoretical part contains a presentation of the methodology issues of strategic analysis and its basic parts, whose knowledge is essential for its processing. Introduction of the practical part contains the description of the profile of Tesco. In the macro surroundings analysis are acquired information on the trends and forces that affect the retail market the most. Following part contains the analysis of the retail sector, its attractiveness and the driving forces that affect it. The analysis of competitive environment has revealed the relationship between retail customers, suppliers and competitors themselves. Portfolio analysis shows the position of the basic types of stores of Tesco and SWOT analysis reveals strengths and weaknesses compared with market opportunities and threats. In conclusion are identified specific benefits and are designed strategic recommendations.

The goal of this paper is to establish a suitable strategy for Centropen company. The master's thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with analyses of the internal and external environment, which is based on literature. The practical part then applies the said analyses to the company. The internal analysis is carried out based on source and financial analysis. The external environment is studied through the PEST analysis and the Porter's Five Forces model. A synthesis of the two analyses forms the SWOT analysis. The strategy will be specified via IE matrix. The results of the analyses will serve as a suitable strategy recommendation for Centropen.

Information system (IS), in other words computerised programs and application that a company uses is a central part in its organisation. Information technology (IT) is the hardware and infrastructure that an IS uses. IS and IT is then related to each other and several use the term IS/IT to describe the two words. Several small enterprises (10-49 employees) use IS/IT to a higher extent in order to work efficiently and many firms should not work without IS/IT. Because small enterprises are a major part in the economy for western world countries’ they find it important that these enterprises are efficient. A business plan is essential in order to make an enterprise work efficient. A business plan is important if the company should borrow money from bank or administer money from financiers. A business plan normally contains the company’s vision statement, mission statement, goals, business strategy and action items. In this thesis we only focus on strategies because we want to limit our research and because we have an interest of strategies in general. The business strategy is a roadmap which includes information about how the enterprise could fulfil its business plan’s goals. It is therefore impor-tant that the business plan and the business strategy are linked to each other, for example will the strategy suffer if the goals are poorly stated. To have this relation it is impor-tant to have a strategy that is explicit, this type of strategy is made through a planning process which is documented. The other type is called implicit and is made through activities for the different divisions of the enterprise, which is not documented.

To make the right decisions and investments for IS/IT it is essential to have an IS/IT strategy, which could be used for the company to reach IS/IT-goals and objectives.

The main question for this thesis is: How does IS/IT strategy influence business strategy within small service enterprises in Sweden and what factors can improve IT strategy’s impact on business strategy in small Swedish service enterprises? The purpose is to investigate how IS/IT strategy influences and improves business strategy in small Swed-ish service enterprises. We also aim to study how IS/IT strategy is applied in small Swedish service enterprises.

We did our empirical research on six small service enterprises in Jönköping. Three of the respondents had a documented explicit business strategy and none of them had an explicit IS/IT strategy. All the respondents said that they did not prioritise to keep the strategy updated and that the day-to-day issues were more important. The result is that we did not find any factors in IS/IT strategy that improved the business strategy in small Swedish service enterprises. The characteristics that the enterprises do not work with these issues and is seldom applied. The enterprises are more interested in day-today issues, our result differs therefore from the literature in this subject.


Informationssystemet (IS) det vill säga datoriserade program och applikationer som ett företag använder sig av är en central del i verksamheten. Informationsteknologi (IT) är hårdvaran och infrastrukturen som IS använder sig av. I och med detta är IS och IT starkt relaterade till varandra och flera brukar benämna detta med IS/IT. Flera småföre-tag (10-49 anställda) använder sig i allt större utsträckning av IS/IT i deras verksamheter och många skulle inte kunna fungera utan IS/IT. Hit hör även att småföretag är en be-tydande del flera länders ekonomi. För att ett företag ska kunna fungera effektivt bör det finnas en affärsplan som är elementär då företaget ska ta lån av bank eller förvalta pengar från finansiärer. I en affärsplan finns vanligen en vision, affärsidé, mål, strategi, nätverk, Produkt/tjänst inklusive prissättning, marknadsplan (kunder, marknad, konkur-renter, marknadsundersökning), budgetar och tid- och aktivitetsplan. I denna uppsats inriktar vi oss endast på strategier eftersom vi vill begränsa uppsatsen och vi har ett stort intresse för strategier. En strategi är ett tillvägagångssätt för att uppfylla företagens uppsätta mål. Det finns dock en relation mellan de olika delarna i affärsplanen och de är inte helt skilda från varandra, exempelvis så blir strategin med största sannolikhet bristande om målen är dåligt utformade. För att ha denna relation är det vikigt att ha en explicit strategi. Denna typ av strategi är framtagen genom en planeringsprocess som är dokumenterad medan en implicit är utvecklad genom händelser inom företaget som inte är dokumenterade.

För att fatta de rätta besluten och planera investeringar för IS/IT korrekt är det grund-läggande med en IS/IT-strategi, som kan användas för att nå målen för IS/IT.

Vår huvudfråga är: Hur kan IS/IT-strategi påverka affärsstrategi hos svenska små tjänsteföretag och hur kan denna relation förbättras? Syftet är att undersöka hur IS/IT-strategi kan påverka och förbättra affärsstrategi i små svenska tjänsteföretag. Vi ämnar också studera hur IS/IT-strategi används i små svenska tjänsteföretag.

Vi gjorde vår empiriska undersökning på sex små tjänsteföretag i Jönköping. Tre av fö-retagen hade en explicit affärsstrategi och ingen hade en explicit IS/IT strategi. Resultat är att små tjänsteföretag till största delen använder sig av implicita affärs- och IS/IT-strategier. Vi hittade ingenting som tyder på att IS/IT-strategi påverkar affärsstrategi i små svenska tjänsteföretag. Företagen är istället mer intresserade av händelser som är mer dagsaktuella, vilket skiljer sig från litteraturen inom detta område.

This thesis that deals with the issue of "Application of the Balanced Scorecard method" focuses on establishing a strategy of the K company that makes its business in the field of transport and logistics. For the purposes of this study a method of Balanced Scorecard is used to express the strategic goals. Linking of these is shown in a strategy map. Theoretical part evaluates importance and reasons for chosing the Balanced Scorecard technique. Analysis of current situation finished with the SWOT analysis follows in the next section. Strategic goals are to be stated in four perspectives in the very last section of this thesis. These goals are connected into a strategy map. Finally, the importance of the feedback is being evaluated.

The thesis is focused on application of Balanced Scorecard in Federal Express Czech. BSC is a management tool, A performance metric used in strategic management to identify and improve various internal functions and their resulting external outcomes. BSC is a way of: measuring of companie's succes, balancing long-term and short-term actions and balancing different measures of success -- financial, customer, internal operations, human resource system & Development (learning and growth) The theoretical part is focused on introducing of BSC and includes strategic analysis. The practical part is devoted to the strategy of the parent company and its relation to the company in Czech Republic. First of all, an analysis of the company financial performance and the strategic analysis were executed and then strengths and weaknesses have been defined by SWOT analysis. The most important part is the actual implementation of the BSC. This implementation consists in assigning corporate strategic goals and their indicators of success for individual perspectives of BSC. The coherence and the causality of the corporate strategic goals clearly show the strategic map. The shortcomings of the Czech Federal Express and proposal for their solution are described in the conclusion..

The main aim of this master thesis is to provide comprehensive overview of a chosen hotel's current condition using the strategic analysis which will also help to propose changes that lead to a better prosperity. The thesis is divided into two main parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part explains all the terms needed for analysis. The hotel's terminology, strategy and the individual methods of a strategic analysis. The practical part is focused on strategic analysis itself. It is divided into external and internal business environment. Macro external environment is summarized using PEST analysis, microenvironment using Porter's five forces model. Internal environment is analysed with VRIO analysis. All the results are summarized using SWOT analysis, which will help to propose changes in the company.

The subject of this thesis is to process a future development strategy of a specific firm based on its strategy analysis. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part, where the theoretical part describes methods and procedures, which are subsequently used in the practical part. The practical part then analyses external and internal environment of the company, based on which SWOT analysis is created. A proposal of the firm's future development is put together from the obtained data, which also corresponds with the mission and vision of the company, and is described further in more detail within the functional strategies of the individual strategy business units. The purpose of this thesis is to study how international Swedish plastics manufacturing companies have responded to covid-19 in terms of changes regarding corporate and business unit strategy and global sourcing. As research type a case study consisting of three case companies was applied. Mainly qualitative data using interviews were collected. The conclusions are that a regionalisation of the location of business units of a corporate group and a regionalisation of corporate strategies may take place and that covid-19 may enhance the process of regionalisation of sourcing of the case companies, which may lead to somewhat safer deliveries from suppliers, but higher prices for the case companies. It is suggested that in times of crisis, two types of SWOT-analyses should be made. One SWOT-analysis should cover strategic issues and thus be part of a strategy formulation process and lead to contingency strategies. The second SWOT-analysis should cover global sourcing issues and lead to contingency plan from a sourcing perspective.
Syftet med uppsatsen var att studera hur internationella svenska företag inom plastbranschen har svarat på covid-19, vad gäller förändring i företags- och affärsenhetsstrategi och globala inköp. Som forskningstyp valdes en fallstudie med tre fallföretag. Huvudsakligen kvalitativa data samlades in, genom intervjuer. Slutsatserna är att regionalisering avseende lokalisering av en koncerns affärsenheter och regionalisering av företagsstrategier kan ske och att covid-19 kan förstärka processen med regionalisering av fallföretagens inköp, vilket kan leda till något säkrare leveranser från leverantörer, men högre priser för fallföretagen. Det föreslås att det i kristider bör upprättas två typer av SWOT-analyser. En SWOT-analys bör avse strategiska frågor och vara del av strategiformuleringsprocess och leda till eventualitetsstrategier. Den andra SWOT-analysen bör avse globala inköpsfrågor och leda till en eventualitetsplan utifrån ett inköpsperspektiv.

This thesis discusses strategic management in sport. There are two main parts in the thesis. First part includes theory about strategic management, strategic management in sport and strategic planning process. In the second part there is a research which analyzes Czech hanball club HC Dukla Prague. The research is qualitive and done by personal interviews with managers, players and spectators of the club. The main purpose of the thesis is to find out how the club works with the strategy and what are the differences between theory of strategy and real actions of the club. In the end there are some recommendations for the club how to improve their strategic planning process.

The aim of the thesis is to analyze and suggest adjustments to the product and price strategy of debit cards for the ČSOB company. The first chapter is focused on a marketing strategy. There is defined the preliminary stage of this strategy, and then a product and price strategy. The second chapter deals with strategic analysis and outline external and internal analysis. The third chapter is aimed at a banking system. In the fourth chapter is analyzed debit card's external environment of the ČSOB company. The last chapter deals with product and price strategy of ČSOB debit cards. The ČSOB debit cards are devided into segments to facilitate analytical process, and then are compared with debit cards of the two biggest rivals. This process results in proposed adjustments to the product and price strategy of debit cards for the ČSOB company.

Today’s businesses face a competitive war; conceptually, similar to the ones in ancient times. The arena in which this war is battled is the market and it is characterized by being highly dynamic and uncertain. The enemies to be beaten are the competitors who use their core competences (weapons) to conquer the customers’ orders. But no battle is won by chance, neither in business. So, there is a need for a strategy that provides the chance to defeat the enemy by gaining a sustainable competitive advantage over him. The question is: how to do it?

The functional investments, mainly in marketing and manufacturing, need to be aligned with the mainstream strategy (business strategy) so they pull all together in the same direction. The existing literature links these strategies in pairs but not at the same time.

In this study, an analysis of such alignment approaches will be the base to create a model for the simultaneous fit of business strategy, marketing strategy and manufacturing strategy, and to provide some suggestions on how to achieve this match in practice.

Product design strategy will play a key role in order to attain the overall alignment.

Previous studies have shown that information regarding competitors has great value for organizations, especially in terms of strategy, making strategic decisions, strategic plans, development of resources, innovation and change, etc. However, most studies tend to investigate competitive intelligence rather than competitor intelligence. Competitor intelligence may be an important factor for organizations to include in their strategy building but too few focus on its impact on such process. Therefore this paper modified one of the strategy tools which are utilized in the strategy building process of organization by including competitor intelligence, with the aim at having a better understanding how competitor intelligence has impact or contribution to the process of strategy building. The modified model shows that with the presence of competitor intelligence, the reliability and feasibility of strategic options are improved to achieve a competitive strategy, which facilitates to enhance competitive advantage and sustainability of the organization.

Companies that execute a strategy change are facing major challenges. Business strategy studies have shown that companies do not achieve their full potential and that there are a number of difficulties in strategy execution. Purpose: The purpose of the essay is to test the model of strategy execution that Kaplan and Norton have created and how it’s followed in an active strategy change. The essay will provide insight into the pitfalls and obstacles of the strategy implementation. Method: The study that has been conducted is a case study of a qualitative nature. The empirical material has been collected by means of semi-structured interviews. Conclusion: Visma Spcs is in the middle of the Vision 2020 process, a strategy change started in 2016. During these years, they have been working hard to formulate, implement, communicate, and get employees to understand Vision 2020 in order for the entire organization to work towards the common goals. The study highlights a number of problems Visma Spcs has with the strategy change, some are part of communication and knowledge about the strategy others are how to work with the process. Kaplan and Norton have created a process in six steps for strategy implementation, a process that, according to the purpose of the paper, is tested in this study. There have been identified some similarities with Visma Spcs strategy implementation and the theory, but also a number of deviations. The main points of the paper's conclusion are that Visma Spcs needs to work more with communication and feedback around Vision 2020.

Business strategy in itself is a well-known concept in today’s academic literature and extensive research on strategy formulation can easily be found. Strategy implementation on the other hand has not been researched to the same extent. This seems to be contradictory when one takes into consideration that effective and efficient strategy implementation has been proven to have an incredibly large impact on the success of any firm, company or organisation. Furthermore, no strategy will be beneficial for a company if it cannot be implemented. Adding to the complexity of this situation, middle management has long been disregarded concerning the strategy process or even thought to be detrimental. However, in recent years there has been a shift and research has started to recognise the importance of middle managers. The thesis aims to provide a deeper understanding of how middle management actively operates when implementing strategy. By doing so the thesis may be of value for middle managers and companies working with strategy, by increasing awareness about middle management’s influence on the strategy implementation process.  This thesis is partially exploratory and partially descriptive with a qualitative and deductive nature. In order to answer the purpose, a research strategy of case studies was used where empirical data was collected from interviews held with six different middle managers.  An implementation process model that described the different phases of strategy execution and supporting activities surrounding implementation was created. The developed implementation framework had its foundation in previous research concerning strategy implementation from an organisational perspective. The data that was collected from the middle managers was then analysed and compared to the model. By modifying the implementation process model using the information received from the middle managers a verified implementation process model was created which takes into account the middle management perspective.   The most important findings suggest that middle managers are important for the implementation process. An implementation process model from a middle management perspective has been developed which presents the phases of execution and what impact middle managers have during the course of the implementation. The findings further suggest that middle management can increase the successfulness of a strategy if allowed influence from start to finish.
Strategier i sig självt är ett välkänt område i dagens akademiska litteratur och man kan enkelt hitta utförlig forskning om strategi formulering. Implementeringen av strategier är däremot inte ett lika populärt forskningsområde. Detta är något motsägelsefullt när man tar hänsyn till att en effektiv implementering av strategi har visat sig ha en väldigt stor påverkan på företags framgång. Dessutom kan ingen strategi vara fördelaktig för ett företag om strategin ej kan implementeras. För att öka komplexiteten av detta har mellanchefer länge blivit förbisedda eller till och med ansetts vara skadliga för strategi processen. Dock håller detta på att ändras och mellanchefer börjar mer och mer anses som viktiga. Denna uppsats försöker skapa en djupare förståelse för hur mellanchefer aktivt arbetar när implementering av strategier sker. Genom detta kan uppsatsen vara av värde för mellanchefer och företag som arbetar med strategier genom att bidra med en ökad medvetenhet om mellanchefers påverkan på implementeringsprocessen.  Uppsatsen var delvis explorativ och delvis deskriptiv med ett kvalitativ och deduktiv tillvägagångssätt. Fallstudier användes där data samlades in via intervjuer med sex olika mellanchefer.  En modell som beskriver implementeringsprocessens olika faser och stödjande faktor skapades. Modellen var baserad på tidigare forskning om implementering av strategier från ett företagsperspektiv. Data som samlades in från mellancheferna var sedan analyserad och jämnförd med modellen. Genom att anpassa modellen med informationen från mellancheferna en verifierad implementeringsprocess utifrån ett mellanchefsperspektiv skapades.  Det viktigaste resultatet antyder att mellanchefer är viktiga för implementering av strategier. Implementeringsmodellen ur ett mellanchefsperspektiv presenterar faser av utförandet av strategi och effekten mellanchefer har under implementeringsprocessen. Resultaten antyder även att mellanchefer kan öka strategiers sannolikhet för framgång om de har möjlighet att bidra från stat till slut.

This multi-site case study is really the story of three same-state community colleges (Bridge and Buffer Community College, Grants and Reserves Community College, and Crystal Ball Community College) two years after they suffered a potentially catastrophic 50% reduction in state allocations. This study examined their responses to those reductions and attempted to frame those responses according to existing research on strategic activity and strategic positioning. The theoretical framework used, referenced as a theoretical mesh, consisted of academic capitalism (Slaughter & Leslie, 1997; Slaughter & Rhoades, 2004), resource dependence theory (Pfeffer & Salancik, 1978), state relative autonomy perspective (Dougherty, 1994), and neo-institutional theory (DiMaggio & Powell, 1983). The synthesis of these theories facilitated the analysis of the findings of this study. This study identified three key phenomena: The Quartering of Community Colleges to conceptualize and organize the abundance of external pressures facing community colleges, Mandates to Neutralize to explain the importance of an aggressive and formal approach to neutralizing external pressures, and Embedded Community Colleges whose strategic positions are strengthened through a deliberate, committed approach to fostering close relationships with their local communities.

Title                                    Procurement Strategy Supporting Retailer’s Competitive Strategy. Background                       Due to the intensive competition in retailing, outpacing strategies that offer several competitive advantages are increasingly necessary in order to satisfy consumers. A search of the trade and academic literatures, identified merchandise procurement as one of the key activities retailers use to implement or support retail competitive strategy. The changing industry trends in retailing such as increased competition, increasing size of retailers, shift in power structures, high proportion of cost of goods sold etc have made procurement very critical for a retailer to compete in the market. Research Questions          Q: What are the various competitive strategies used by the retail industry in general and the competitive strategies of the case retailers? Q: How do procurement strategies of the case retailers support their specific competitive strategies? Purpose                              The purpose of this study is to identify competitive strategies used in the retail industry and that of the case companies and investigate if and how the procurement strategy of a retailer supports the implementation of its competitive strategy. Method                              The empirical data and conclusions drawn from it are based on qualitative case studies carried out in three case retailers ofPakistan. An independent supplier common to all three retailers was also used to collect unbiased information. The information was collected using interviews and questionnaire. The thesis is written from a positivistic perspective with a deductive approach. Conclusion:                        The conclusions that can be drawn from this study are that primary competitive strategies are price/cost leadership and differentiation, whereas differentiation can be based on several things such as quality, store design, shopping experience etc. The procurement strategies are more relevant and fully support a price leadership strategy than a differentiation strategy. The procurement strategy does support the competitive strategy of a retailer.
