The ovarian development of Musca domestica, was examined under light microscope. There are two ovaries in the adult female of fly. Each ovary was formed of about 60-70 polytrophic ovarioles. The ovariole in cross sections organized in several circles. From cytological observations, ovary development and oogenesis could be divided in to 6 stages; ovaries with no noticeable follicle cells existing were characterized as (stage1), the follicle-growing stages considered as (stage2, 3), the vitellogenen in stages (stages4, 5(and mature egg stage (stage6). The oocyte initiated development at first stages of oogenesis; the nurse cells and follicle epithelial cells were considered to fulfill important functions with regard to the growth of the oocyte.

With the large-scale outbreak of the COVID-19, people have gradually realized the importance of bioaerosols in the environment, and how to efficiently filter out microbial aerosols in the air, so as to create a safe and healthy air environment is urgent. The non-bacteriostatic F6 non-woven filter material and the synthesized new reduced graphene oxide air filter were tested and analyzed in this paper, and the filtration performance of the material against bacterial aerosols in the atmosphere at the initial stage of heating. The results showed that during the initial stage of heating, the particle size distributions of aerosols in the atmosphere during working days were stageⅠ(>7.0μm)4.34%, stageⅡ(4.7~7.0μm)4.62%, stageⅢ(3.3~4.7μm)13.30%, stageⅣ(2.1~3.3μm)21.11%, stageⅤ(1.1~2.1μm)38.70%, stageⅥ(0.65~1.1μm)17.92%. The particle size distributions of aerosols in the atmosphere on non-working days were stageⅠ(>7.0μm)4.52%, stageⅡ(4.7~7.0μm)13.66%, stageⅢ(3.3~4.7μm)23.04%, stageⅣ(2.1~3.3μm)31.82%, stageⅤ(1.1~2.1μm)15.18%, stageⅥ (0.65~1.1μm)11.78%. The new reduced graphene oxide filter material had a 10% increase in the filtration efficiency of the total bacterial aerosol compared with the ordinary non-woven filter material. Among them, the filtration efficiency of the respirable bacterial aerosol (particle size <4.7μm) was significantly improved by 40%. The results of this study could provide a certain reference for building a safe interior in the post-epidemic era, and also provided reference value for the research and development of functional air filters.

Michelia maudiae ‘Rubicunda’ (M. maudiae ‘Rubicunda’) is one of the most popular ornamental plants. However, relatively little is known regarding its floral development. Here, the variations of the mineral, endogenous hormone, and non-structural carbohydrate (NSC) contents in the petals and gynoecium and androecium (GA) at five developmental stages during M. maudiae ‘Rubicunda’ flower development were analyzed. The results suggested that the carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) endogenous hormones, NSC contents, and C/N/P stoichiometric ratios exhibit large variations during flower development. There were significant differences in N and P contents in the GA and petals among the five growth stages, while C contents did not change significantly. In the five flower development stages, the average N and P contents in the GA were higher than those in the petals. The maximum C/N and N/P ratios in the GA and petals were foundat the senescent flower stage (stage5) and green bud stage (stage1), respectively. The C/P ratio in petals reached its maximum value at the mature bud stage (stage 2), and the C/P ratio in the GA reached its maximum value at the senescent flower stage (stage 5). The C/N/P stoichiometric ratios in the petals were more sensitive to development stages than those in the GA. There were highly significant correlations between the NSC and C/N/P stoichiometric ratios in the GAand petals. Moreover, acetic acid (IAA), abscisic acid (ABA), gibberellic acid 3 (GA3), and cytokinin (CTK) contents in the petals exhibited significant changes in response to development stages. Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed significant correlations and clear differences in the test indexes between the development stage and organs, and the variation was explained by PC-1 (55.6%), PC-2 (23.3%), and the cumulative contribution percentage of the total biplot (78.9%). These studies can lay the foundation for elucidating the requirements and dynamic balance among C, N, P, NSC, and hormone contents during the flower development of M. maudiae‘ Rubicunda’.

This thesis compares two methods of designing grid-tie inverters. The first design topology is a traditional two stage approach consisting of an isolated DC-DC converter on the input followed by a high switching frequency SPWM (Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation) stage to produce the required low frequency sine wave output. The novel second design approach employs a similar DC-DC input stage capable of being modulated to provide a rectified sine wave output voltage/current waveform. This stage is followed by a simple low frequency switched Unfolding Stage to recreate the required sine wave output. Both of the above designs have advantages and disadvantages depending on operating parameters. The following work will compare the Unfolding Output Stage and the SPWM Output Stage at various power levels and power densities. Input stage topologies are similarly examined in order to determine the best design approach for each output stage under consideration.

Anaerobic digestion is a process that breaks down waste and other feed materials and produces biogas. A biogas reactor, or anaerobic digester, is designed to conduct anaerobic digestion in a closed environment and to collect the produced biogas. This is an important field of study because biogas is a renewable energy source. If it can be produced more efficiently, it may become a feasible alternative source of green energy. This thesis outlines the design of a lab-scale experimental reactor with a large range of functionality. The design permits many different environmental conditions, allowing anaerobic digestion to be thoroughly studied with one setup.

This thesis is the first sustained analysis of the relationship between Elizabethan theatre and the judicial practice of burning at the stake. Focusing on a five-year window of theatrical output (1587-1592), it argues that polemical literary presentations of burning are the key to understanding the stage's negotiation of this most particular form of judicial violence. Unlike other forms of penal violence, burning at the stake was not staged, and only fourteen incidences of the punishment are recorded in Elizabethan England. Its strong literary presence in Protestant historiography is therefore central to this study. Part I explores the tragic and overtly theatrical rhetoric that the widely available Acts and Monuments built around the burning of heretics in the reformation, and argues that the narrative of this drama of injustice intervened in the development of judicial semiotics over the late-sixteenth century. By the time that Tamburlaine was first performed, burning at the stake was a pressing polemical issue, and it haunts early commercial theatre. Elizabethan historiography of the stake was deeply influential in Elizabethan theatre. In Part II, I argue that Marlovian fire spectacles evoke tableaux from the Acts and Monuments to encourage partisan spectatorship, informed by the rhetoric of martyrdom. Dido's self-immolation courts this rhetoric by dismissing the sword from her death, while Tamburlaine's book burning is condemned through its emphatically papist undertones. These plays court the stake through spectacles utilizing its rhetoric. In Part III, I show that characters historically destined to face the stake required thorough criminalization to justify their sentence. Alice Arden is distinguished from female martyrs celebrated for their domestic defiance, while Jeanne d'Arc's historical heresy is forcefully rewritten as witchcraft and whoredom to condemn 1 Henry VI's Joan la Pucelle. Both women are punished offstage, and the plays focus instead on the necessary task of justifying the sentence of burning. Though rare in practice, burning at the stake was a polemical issue in Elizabethan England. Despite the stake's lack of imitation in the theatre, I argue that widely available Protestant historiography - propaganda at the heart of debates about burning and religious violence - affected both how plays were written, and how they could be viewed.

This thesis is concerned with the development of methodology for late-stage trifluoromethylation of complex molecules. Chapter 1 introduces the concept of late-stage trifluoromethylations and details the effect that substitution of a CF3 group can have on the properties of organic molecules. Methods for generating reactive trifluoromethylating intermediates for use in allylic and aliphatic trifluoromethylation are also discussed. Chapter 2 examines the photoredox catalysis as a mechanistic manifold for the trifluoromethylation of allylsilanes for the synthesis of branched allylic trifluoromethylated compounds. The stereogenic trifluoromethylation of enantio-enriched allylsilanes through chirality transfer is explored, and mechanistic experiments are performed to investigate the formation of the CF3 radical intermediate. Chapter 3 details the development of hydrotrifluoromethylation of terminal alkenes for the synthesis of aliphatic trifluoromethylated compounds under mild conditions using photoredox catalysis. This methodology tolerates a wide range of functional groups and is applicable to the late-stage trifluoromethylation of complex organic compounds. Chapter 4 explores the synthesis and isolation of 18F-labelled aryl -SCF3, -OCF3 and - OCF2H compounds from high specific activity [18F]fluoride, using Ag(I) mediated halogen exchange as a mode of activation. This methodology can be used for the synthesis and isolation of 18F labelled radiotracers containing new functional groups that have interesting biological and pharmacological properties. Chapter 5 contains full experimental procedures and characterisation data for compounds synthesised in chapters 2, 3 and 4.

Theaters used to an important civic space, and nowadays urban spaces have begun to be viewed as theatrical spaces. Theaters as well as cinemas are primarily shared spaces. As online viewing of films has become more prevalent, it is pertinent to explore how a shared experience can be enhanced. An outdoor theater where neighbors could gain access by foot, an atrium where preview viewing, discussion and gallery viewing could happen concurrently, are a few examples of what this multiplex offers. The multiplex is located at Van Ness Metro Station facing Connecticut Ave in Washington D.C. The Multiplex comprises eleven movie theaters with seating capacity ranging from 35 to 150, an outdoor theater, a restaurant and several roof terraces.

Resumo:
A key objective of compressor rig tests is the identification of compressor stall boundary. A complementary goal is the identification of the stalling stage based on test data. This serves two purposes: 1) Validate the pre-test prediction of the stage loading distribution, and 2) identify the weak stages, should improvements in operating range be desired in subsequent design iterations. Typically the pertinent test data is in the form of static pressure measurements. Many engineers believe that a stalling stage is accompanied by a transient upstream pressure rise coupled with a downstream pressure loss. However, inter-stage dynamics may cloud the identification of the stalling stage. To this end, an analysis of inter-stage dynamics, immediately preceding the stall event, could provide an alternate assessment of the stalling stage. This work reviews existing stall models for studying compressor dynamics. The main focus of this work is to develop ability to capture inter-stage dynamics. A 3-state equation lumped Moore-Greitzer (MG3) model is widely used to study the dynamic compressor response during surge and rotating stall transients. However the evolution of MG3 model may not provide a suitable framework for the investigation of inter-stage dynamics. On the other hand, an unsteady time marching 1-D fluid dynamic model (e.g. similar to the DynTECC formulation which includes body forces), while unable to capture the rotating stall dynamics, is sufficient for this purpose. A numerical simulation has been developed to investigate the impact of stage characteristics, as well as load distribution on the compression and expansion waves that develop prior to a surge event. Through a controlled weakening of selected stages, the time evolution of these waves is related back to the stalling stage. It is found that the weakened stage is not necessarily the stalling stage as identified via the pressure rise and downstream pressure drop pattern.
