Texto completo da fonteNuclear Magnetic Reaction (NMR) spectroscopy is a widely employed technique in the detection and quantification of chemical compounds, with a wide range of applications. In this manuscript, the focus is put on two of them: the detection of pollutants in drinking water and the monitoring of chemical reactions. While laboratory NMR equipment presents highly reliable analysis results, portable miniaturized NMR is an evolving research field with multiple technological and application-related challenges. Such emerging devices present however a clear advantage when compared to the classic, stablished ones: it can be used in the field, therefore saving time and limiting staff and consumables costs. In order to design NMR spectrometers to attain the desired portability and miniaturization, one has to compromise, however being able to understand what is at stake, so that the final product still meets the demands. For that, we propose a complete NMR simulation toolchain capable of generating diverse outcomes corresponding to a real NMR spectrometer. Furthermore, we develop a proof of concept for an electronic control and acquisition unit based on commercial-off-the-shelf components and validate it on a portable NMR spectrometer prototype. Finally, we use this prototype to assess the potential of portable miniaturized NMR for the targeted applications cited above. This study allowed us to identify the limits of our current prototypical device and to provide directions for its further improvement

Texto completo da fonteNuclear Quadrupolar Resonance (NQR) is a radio frequency spectroscopy technique that is very useful for non-invasive identification and analysis of chemical products. However, it suffers from low sensitivity which makes its instrumentation very challenging. In order to tackle these challenges and enhance the performances, especially sensitivity,we present in this thesis a solution which consists in a SoC-FPGA based compact spectrometer, where all the major digital hardware and software modules are integrated on a single System On Chip, including : a high pulse width resolution pulse programmer, a fully controllable transmitter, an acquisition module with real time digital signal processing, and storage of the acquired signal in an external memory, and a hardware debugger, in addition to embedded Linux applications that drive the spectrometer functionalities. This digital integration and miniaturisation brought noticeable performances of the spectrometers' overall functionality, especially in terms of sensitivity and portability. The designed spectrometer was successfully tested on several representative samples

Texto completo da fonteAfter a review of the theory of NQR and of factors that relate to it, the various kinds of spectrometers used to study Nitrogen-14 and Bromine NQR at 4. 2 K are described. A delayed double resonance experiment in s-triazine, where the relaxation times are long, allowed the ѵ+ and ѵ- in this substance lines to be paired. It was also possible to observe emission signals at the ѵ- lines. Complete NQR spectra of Cyanuric chloride and melamine were obtained by the observation of two new lines and nine new lines, respectively, at 4. 2 K. A Bromine NQR study of ThBr₄ was carried out at 4. 2 K by the use of a half-wavelength transmission line connecting the r. F. Coil in the cryostat to the superregenerative spectrometer. Thus, we were able to observe at this temperature the incommensurate phase which was already known to exist at higher temperature
