The function of the normal red blood cell is to transport oxygen with the help of haemoglobin while, sickle-shaped red blood cells are dehydrated, rigid and fragile causing blockage small blood vessels leading to vaso- occlusion, intravascular hemolysis and series of life threatening disorders [1]. The inheritance of homozygous sickle haemoglobin (HbS) is in accord with Mendelian laws. According to Mendelian laws, if carriers (AS) marry each other they will probably produce a sickler (SS) in ratio 1(SS): 2(AS): 1(AA) [2]. This is a descriptive study among secondary school teachers aiming at their knowledge level and specifically identifies the Socioeconomic effects of sickle cells diseased (SCD) on couples. Three hundred (300) participants were selected using simple random sampling Technique. The study instruments are a pre tested, validated, self-administered structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 20; results were presented in tables and percentages. The results show that participants have good knowledge on SCD (83.3%), while 50% knows that it is an inherited blood disorders, 66.67 % knows that it can be detected via blood test. Majority of the respondents (93%) affirmed that genotype can influence their choice of partners to marry despite love and affection towards their partners. The study recommends more public health education and training to enable patients to receive optimum care for the treatment and prevention of SCD and more specialist centers should be established in high-risk communities.

This study discussed the factors that caused street begging among school age children and investigated social protection policies aimed at eradicating the menace in Southwestern, Nigeria. It also examined the impact of the social protection policies on street begging among school-age children and assessed the challenges confronting social protection interventions. The study’s primary data were sourced through multi-choice structured questionnaires and semi-structured interview guides. The study administered one hundred and fifty copies of questionnaires on teachers, parents, and school age children in Ondo, Oyo and Lagos States. Interviews were conducted with twelve 12 respondents on the basis of four from each state based on their experience of street begging by school-age children and social protection policies meant to tackle the menace. Purposively sampled interviewees were from ministries of education and schools, with two education officials from each of the three states and two school principals from each of the three states. Secondary data were from books, relevant journals, government publications, policy guides, gazettes, and online publications. We analyzed quantitative data with the use of descriptive and inferential statistical tools, and qualitative data with content analysis. The study showed poverty, unemployment, broken homes, and poor feeding and other factors as responsible for street begging among school age children. Some of the social protection policies that are in place to eradicate street begging by school-age children in Southwestern Nigeria include Zero Project, Better Education Service Delivery for All, Integrated Qur'anic and Tsangaya Education, and other domesticated policies of the federal government. Social protection policies in Southwestern, Nigeria are impactful in reducing street begging but poor funding, change in government, overstretched facilities, and corruption are some of the challenges militating against them. The study concluded that street begging by school age children in Southwestern, Nigeria is a social menace that requires intensification of existing social protection policies and serious government attention.

This study guided by a health ecology conceptual framework evaluated four “bottom-up” Physical Activity (PA) interventions with school personnel planning for their own health ecology with state level support for one year. Students (N = 616) were from four schools in the Southwestern USA in the 3rd-8th grade. Participants had various ethnic backgrounds (e.g., Hispanic 44%, Caucasian 43%) and wore a pedometer for five school days pre/post intervention. Teacher and school level data were also reported by schools. Program components varied across the four intervention sites. Paired samples t test results showed that three of the four intervention schools significantly increased both school day and 24 hr PA. School personnel reported significantly more favorable results at post test for nurse visits, student absences, and classroom teachers’ use of PA breaks. Using a health ecology lens, when schools develop their own PA intervention and have “buy in” from staff, significant increases in PA are attainable.

West African Examination Council results have continued to reveal Nigeria’s high school students’ poor performance in Science subjects, and especially, in practical science (WAEC 2014). The students’ demonstration of essential scientific attitudes is noted to be deficient. This is possibly caused by ineffective teaching and learning produced by the absence of necessary practical classes. This study, therefore, assessed the process skills application and scientific attitudes of Biology students in colleges of education in southwestern Nigeria as well as the relationship between the two variables. These groups of variables are central to students developing skills and knowledge in science and a determination of levels of competence in them would facilitate appropriate interventions to improve teaching and learning of science. The study adopted descriptive research survey design. The population for the study included all Biology students in colleges of education in southwestern Nigeria. From the four federal and seven state colleges of education in southwestern Nigeria, two federal colleges of education and three state colleges of education were randomly selected to ensure adequate representation of the two school categories. One hundred Biology students were randomly selected from each of the two school categories. Two instruments were used for the study. These were Biology Process Skill Application Rating Scale (BPSARS) and Biology Scientific Attitude Questionnaire (BSAQ). A reliability value of 0.72 for BPSARS and 0.76 for BSAQ was gotten using Cronbach alpha coefficient. The result revealed that there existed a moderate application of process skills and a moderate level of scientific attitude among the respondents as 67.3% and 84.8% having a moderate level of process skills application and scientific attitude respectively. It was shown that there was no significant relationship between the process skill application and scientific attitude (r=0.09, p>0.05) of respondents in the study area

Schistosomiasis is a water-borne parasitic disease second to malaria in terms of socio-economic importance. Epidemiological data upon which management control could be based is lacking in Ikota, Ondo State, Nigeria. The present study evaluated the prevalence and intensity of urinary schistosomiasis among School age children in Ikota, Ifedore Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo State, Nigeria. Urine samples were first examined macroscopically for haematuria while reagent strip was used to detect proteinuria after which sedimentation method was used to analyse the samples for characteristic features of the Schistosoma haematobium. Data obtained from the study were analyzed using Pearson's Chi Square Test. A total of 150 subjects were examined, out of which 76 (50.7%) were male and 74 (49.3%) were female. Results obtained from this study revealed a total prevalence of 24% with mean intensity of 21.82 egg/10 mL of urine. The percentage distribution of the infection among the sexes showed that the male students had a lower prevalence of 21.1% of infection than their female counterparts who had 27.0% prevalence with no significant difference (P > 0.05). It was also observed that age group 5-9 had the highest prevalence and mean intensity of 100% and 13.50 egg/10 mL of infection with no significant difference (P > 0.05). In the same vein, sources of water vary significantly among the subjects (p < 0.05). Those who depended on river water (75.0%) had the highest level of infection. Therefore, it is evident that S. haematobium infection is prevalent among the study subjects and appropriate management control strategies should be deployed to the study area.

The purpose of this study was to explore music instruction in selected normal schools of the United States during the nineteenth century. The sample consisted of all eighteen state normal schools organized before the end of the U.S. Civil War and provided insight into the earliest period of music at these institutions. Research questions focused on normal school music (a) faculty, (b) curricula, and (c) diploma/degree programs, as well as (d) influence on the teaching profession, normal school students, and society at large. Normal schools prepared future classroom teachers and eventually specialists to teach music to K–12 students throughout the United States. They also helped professionalize the role of music teacher, solidify music’s place in K–12 curricula, and improve the efficacy of instruction among America’s youth. The preparation normal schools provided contributed to the national culture and the ability of average citizens to experience music as both listeners and performers. Although teacher education has evolved a great deal since the nineteenth century, practices related to music instruction in state normals during this time might hold implications for solving current problems in music education and preparing generalists and specialists today.

Background: Admission cardiotocography (CTG), a noninvasive procedure, is used to indicate the state of oxygenation of the fetus on admission into the labor ward. Objective: This study assessed the association of admission CTG findings with neonatal outcome at a tertiary health facility. Materials and Methods: A prospective, observational study of 206 pregnant women who were admitted into the labor ward with singleton live pregnancies. Information on the demographic characteristics, obstetrics and medical history, admission CTG tracing, and neonatal outcome was obtained using a structured data collection form. Data were analyzed using the SPSS software version 20.0 with the level of significance set at P < 0.05. Results: The admission CTG findings were normal in 73.3%, suspicious in 13.6%, and pathological in 13.1% of the women. The occurrence of low birth weight, special care baby unit (SCBU) admission, asphyxiated neonates, neonatal death, and prolonged hospital admission was significantly more frequent among those with pathological admission CTG results compared with normal and suspicious results (P < 0.05). The incidence of vaginal delivery was more common when the CTG findings were normal, whereas all women with pathological CTG result had a cesarean delivery. Conclusion: Admission CTG was effective in identifying fetuses with a higher incidence of perinatal asphyxia. Neonatal outcome such as low birth weight, APGAR score, SCBU admission, and prolonged hospital admission was significantly associated with pathological CTG findings. In the absence of facilities for further investigations, prompt intervention for delivery should be ensured if admission CTG is pathological.

This study is an examination of string access in American public schools; the researcher sought to determine the actual number of school districts in each state that offered string instruction and at which grade levels. Specific questions posed were (a) What is the current relationship between access to string instruction and school-district location, size, and socioeconomic level? (b) How does access vary by school type—elementary, middle, high school? (c) How does access vary in different regions of the country? Data were obtained for each of the 14,183 school districts listed in the 1994-1995 Market Data Retrieval School Directories. A total of 2,268 districts (15.99%) were identified that offered string instruction. Of these, it was found that 71.42% (N = 1,620) offered string instruction at the elementary school level, 78.52% (N = 1,781) at the middle school level, and 80.15%) (N = 1,818) at the high school level. The findings also indicated that string instruction was offered most often in average-socioeconomic-level, medium-sized, urban districts in the Eastern, North Central, and Northwest Music Educators National Conference divisions, and in average-socioeconomic-level, large, metropolitan districts in the Southern, Southwestern, and Western divisions. String instruction was offered least often in low-socioeconomic-level school districts (N = 100) regardless of location or size.

This research was motivated by the importance of understanding the thematic learning management in the New Normal Era. This study aimed to determine planning, implementation and assessment of the thematic learning in the new normal era in State Islamic Elementary School (MIN) at East OKU. The researcher used a qualitative research that was carried out at MIN at East OKU. The data collection techniques which were used are observation, interviews and documentation. The used validity test of the data was triangulation technique. The results of this study indicated that the planning process continues to make learning media (the details on effective week, the annual program, the semester program, the syllabus, the lesson plans, the analysis of learning outcomes, as well as remedial and enrichment programs) adapted to offline or online learning patterns. The implementation of learning in the new normal era continues to carry out learning as usual in line with the lesson plans which was made and learning media that are in line with the material presented. The implementation pattern of learning was adjusted to the predetermined time, namely shifts (odd-even) for low and high grades. One class was limited to a maximum of 20 students and the study hours are also reduced, usually learning is until 12:45 while in the new normal era students only arrive at 09.00 or 10.00. Then in the assessment process carried out at MIN, namely daily tests (after completing 1 sub-theme or 2 sub-themes), in addition to UTS (mid-semester assessment), and PAS (final semester assessment) which has been scheduled on the educational calendar. In this school, the assessment applied also carries out a character assessment.

In the Aegean Sea, the western part of Gökova Gulf, Kos and Bodrum were struck by a 6.6 (Mw) earthquake on July 20, 2017. The fault plane solution for the main shock shows an E-W striking normal type fault with approximately N-S (N4°E) tensional axis (T-axis). Fault plane solutions of 33 aftershocks show two groups of normal type fault with E-W and NE-SW to ENE-WSW orientations. The inversion of the focal mechanisms of the aftershocks yields two different normal faulting stress regimes: one is characterized by an approximately N-S (N5°E) σ3 axis (minimum horizontal stress axis). This extension is obtained from 13 focal mechanisms of aftershocks with approximately E-W direction. The other is characterized by approximately NW-SE (N330°E) σ3 axis. The latter is calculated from 21 seismic faults of aftershocks with approximately NE-SW direction. These aftershocks occurred on relatively small-scale faults that were directed from NE-SW to ENE-WSW, and possibly contributed to expansion of the basin in the west. The 24 focal mechanisms of earthquakes which occurred since 1933 in and around Gökova Basin are introduced into the inversion analysis to obtain the stress state effective in a wider region. The inversion yields an extensional stress regime characterized by an approximately N-S (N355°E) σ3 axis. The E-W directional metric faults, measured in the central part of Gökova Fault Zone bordering the Gökova Gulf in the north, also indicate N-S extension. The NE-SW extension obtained from NE-SW aftershocks appears to be more local and is responsible for the expansion of the western part of the asymmetric Gökova Basin. This N-S extension which appears to act on a regional-scale may be attributed to the geodynamic effects related to the combined forces of the southwestward extrusion of Anatolia and the roll-back process of African subduction beneath Anatolia.

Motorcycles have become a major form of commercial transportation in Nigeria over the past decade, due in large part to the economic downturn which has placed the purchase and maintenance of new cars and minibuses beyond the grasp of most. The phenomenon began in the towns of Igbo-Ora and Eruwa in southwestern Oyo State, Nigeria around 1989, and has been observed to have important health risks while at the same time providing essential transportation. The study documented 81 road traffic accidents from hospital records in the town of Igbo-Ora in the six months preceding the survey. An observational component of the study documented that only one among 480 motorcyclists observed wore a helmet. Other safety problems included speed, failure to stop at a junction before entering a main road, wearing non-protective light clothing and slippers, carrying in excess of one passenger, and failure to make appropriate turn signals. Older drivers were observed to perform more safety behaviors than younger ones. A total of 267 commercial motorcycle (taxi) drivers (CMDs) were interviewed. Only 31% had some form of license (including learner permits), only 44.2% had seen a copy of the highway code, and 28.1% were reported to have consumed alcohol during short breaks from work. CMDs who had some form of license were older, owned their motorcycle, and had higher safety self-efficacy scores. Those who had seen the highway code, which is published in English, were more educated and had longer years of driving experience, higher safety self-efficacy scores, and greater road safety knowledge. Drinking alcohol during the workday was negatively associated with safety self-efficacy, safety opinion scores, and ownership of the motorcycle. Health education based in the CMD union, school health education, and public advocacy to make consumers/passengers aware of safety issues is recommended.

To address childhood obesity, several states and local school districts across the United States have adopted body mass index (BMI) measurement initiatives. This descriptive case study explored psychosocial, environmental, and behavioral factors among parents of sixth-grade students who received BMI Health Letters (BMIHLs) in one Florida County. A nonexperimental postintervention design was employed to gather quantitative data via self-report Likert-type questionnaire. Participants were parents/guardians of sixth-grade students attending one Hillsborough County public middle school ( n = 76). Results indicate three main findings: (a) most parents in this study (67.4%) who discussed the BMIHL with their child reported their child as “very” or “somewhat” uncomfortable with the discussion; (b) some parents of normal weight (NW) children responded by taking their child to a medical professional to control their weight; and (c) more parents of at risk of overweight/overweight (AR/OW) children (vs. NW) reported greater concern about their child’s weight, using food restriction and physical activity to control their child’s weight, and giving negative weight-related comments/behaviors. This case study illustrates the importance of adapting and tailoring state mandated BMIHLs for parents based on child’s BMI status.

A novel foot disease in free-ranging elk ( Cervus elaphus) in southwestern Washington State emerged in 2008 and spread throughout the region. Initial studies showed adult elk had chronic hoof overgrowth, sole ulcers, and sloughed hoof capsules, but no cause was determined. To identify possible causes and characterize the earliest lesions, 9-, 7-, and 3-month-old elk were collected. Nine-month-old elk had sole ulcers (3/9 elk) and sloughed/overgrown hoof capsules (4/9 elk) similar to adults. Histologically, lesions consisted of coronary, heel bulb, and interdigital ulcers with suppurative inflammation, epithelial hyperplasia, deeply invasive spirochetes, and underrunning of the hoof capsule and heel-sole junction. Spirochetes were identified as Treponema via immunohistochemistry and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Seven-month-old elk had similar underrunning foot ulcers (6/8 elk) with Treponema identified in all lesions but no chronic overgrowth or sloughed hoof capsules. Three-month-old calves had superficial coronary erosions with no inflammation or identifiable spirochetes (3/5 elk) but were culture/PCR positive for Treponema, suggesting possible early lesions. Lesions from 9- and 7-month-old elk included aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, many of which are associated with infectious foot disease in livestock. Antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay of 7- and 3-month-old elk from the enzootic region showed a trend toward increased Treponema antibody titers compared to normal control elk from outside the region, further supporting the significance of Treponema in the pathogenesis of foot disease. Treponeme-associated hoof disease (TAHD) in elk, a debilitating and progressive condition, shares similarities to bovine digital dermatitis and contagious ovine digital dermatitis.

A sinuous zone of gently southeast-dipping low-angle Tertiary normal faults is exposed for 100 km along the eastern margins of the Anaconda and Flint Creek ranges in southwest Montana. Faults in the zone variously place Mesoproterozoic through Paleozoic sedimentary rocks on younger Tertiary granitic rocks or on sedimentary rocks older than the overlying detached rocks. Lower plate rocks are lineated and mylonitic at the main fault and, below the mylonitic front, are cut by mylonitic mesoscopic to microscopic shear zones. The upper plate consists of an imbricate stack of younger-on-older sedimentary rocks that are locally mylonitic at the main, lowermost detachment fault but are characteristically strongly brecciated or broken. Kinematic indicators in the lineated mylonite indicate tectonic transport to the east-southeast. Syntectonic sedimentary breccia and coarse conglomerate derived solely from upper plate rocks were deposited locally on top of hanging-wall rocks in low-lying areas between fault blocks and breccia zones. Muscovite occurs locally as mica fish in mylonitic quartzites at or near the main detachment. The 40Ar/39Ar age spectrum obtained from muscovite in one mylonitic quartzite yielded an age of 47.2 + 0.14 Ma, interpreted to be the age of mylonitization. The fault zone is interpreted as a detachment fault that bounds a metamorphic core complex, here termed the Anaconda metamorphic core complex, similar in age and character to the Bitterroot mylonite that bounds the Bitterroot metamorphic core complex along the Idaho-Montana state line 100 km to the west. The Bitterroot and Anaconda core complexes are likely components of a continuous, tectonically integrated system. Recognition of this core complex expands the region of known early Tertiary brittle-ductile crustal extension eastward into areas of profound Late Cretaceous contractile deformation characterized by complex structural interactions between the overthrust belt and Laramide basement uplifts, overprinted by late Tertiary Basin and Range faulting.

Music competitions have an ancient history dating back some two thousand years. In the United States, early music contests mimicked the German Saengerfests and Welsh Eistoddfods; however, some of the earliest continuously running music competitions held in America are the state contests for secondary school students. This article identifies for the first time Kansas and Oklahoma as holding the two earliest state school music competitions and corrects some long-standing erroneous information. It studies these two state events through historical analysis of primary sources and triangulates the data with secondary sources. Frank Beach at Kansas State Normal School in Emporia and Fredrik Holmberg at the University of Oklahoma were found to be the two initiators. These two state music contests were influenced by several things including the state track and field meets, previous music contests, the western pioneering spirit, European music systems, and the music specialties of the founders. In the end both contests were seen as promoting the cause of public school music by increasing both the quality and numbers of music education programs and as leading to the exponential growth of state music competitions throughout the United States.

Between 1998 and 2017, climate-related disasters represented 91% of all occurrences worldwide, causing approximately US$ 2.245 billion of direct economic losses. In the Amazon region, fire is used as a widely spread technique for land clearing, agricultural management, hunting, and religious rituals. However, over the past 20 years, severe droughts caused a major amplification of fire occurrences, leading to several socioeconomic and environmental impacts. Particularly in Acre state, located in the southwestern Brazilian Amazon, the occurrence of extensive fires, associated with extreme climatic events, has been reported since 2005. However, fire dynamics, land tenure relationships, and associated impacts are poorly quantified. In this study, we aim to investigate the following: (1) The spatiotemporal variability of fire dynamics during anomalously dry and regular climate conditions; (2) the attribution of fire occurrence and land tenure relationship, and (3) the environmental, social, and economic impacts caused by fires and its consequences for Acre’s economy. We analyzed information on the spatial patterns of fire, its direct impacts on land use and land cover, carbon stocks, CO2 emissions, the indirect impact on human illness, and finally the costs of these impacts from 2008 to 2012. During the studied period, burned areas were concentrated around the major cities and roads, forming polygons up to 0.6 km2. However, in 2010, an extremely dry year, fires spread to remote areas, impacting protected private areas and sustainable-use conservation areas. In 2010, the total area affected by forest fires was approximately 16 times greater than in meteorologically normal years. The total economic loss estimated in 2010 was around US$ 243.36 ± 85.05 million and for the entire period, US$ 307.46 ± 85.41 million. These values represent 7.03 ± 2.45% and 9.07 ± 2.46% of Acre’s gross domestic product (GDP), respectively.

Aim: This study assess the prevalence of malnutrition and underweight among school boys in Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa state. Methods: The was a cross sectional study consisting of 250 school boys within the ages of 5-10yrs selected randomly from five communities during school period. Data were obtained using weight scale balance calibrated in (kg), metre rule (m), muac tape (cm) and well-structured questionnaire. The weight for age, height for age, MUAC and BMI methods used in this study was in accordance with WHO, IAP classification. Results: This study shows a significant difference (<0.05) between the weight, height and BMI of school boys in Ogbia, Oloibiri/Otuogidi when compared with Otuabagi/otuakeme. Muac mean value for the entire age 5-10yrs in Ogbia axis was 17cm compared with Otuabagi axis of 16cm with no significant p-value observed. Carbohydrate (56.8%) dietary food was mostly consumed regularly in comparison with carbohydrate/protein (32%), protein (8%) and vegetable/vitamins (3.2%) among the children. More so 78.4% of the study population have not been deworm for the past over 3months and above. However 21.6% of the study population are deworm within 3month intervals. This study further observe 41.6% among the children as underweight falling below the 1st percentile level with just 13.2% in the median green line zone having normal weight in both communities. However 15.2% are within the 97th percentile while 1.6% are above this zone. The weight for age regarding PEM classification shows 55.89% and 0.74% children suffering from severe and very severe malnutrition in Ogbia, Oloibiri/Otuogidi though 32.37% are PEM free compared with 66.68% normal children in Otuabagi/otuakeme, however 28.07% and 1.75% are suffering from severe and very severe cases of malnutrition in the just two mention communities above. Conclusion: The combination of the entire percentages from the different communities considered in this study shows 1.2% and 43.2% prevalence rate of very severe and severe malnutrition compare with 48% PEM free among boys in Ogbalga while 44% and 16.8% are underweight and overweight/obese compared with 13.2% on the green median zone of normal weight for age. Intervention strategies that include appropriate children feeding with micronutrients should be implemented to reduce the burden of under nutrition in addition to effective regular deworming to help reduce the burden of weight deficit among children in the state.

Geothermal energy is one of the most stable and clean solutions to replace the traditional fossil fuel energy resource. The South Meager geothermal prospect, located in southwestern British Columbia, contains large geothermal energy resources due to recent volcanic activities. The in-situ stress state in the prospective area that influences the characteristics of fractures, thus affecting productivity, remains unknown. In this paper, we present a preliminary analysis of in-situ stress induced by gravitational load at Mount Meager, with tectonics considered. The in-situ stress model was constructed with 3D displacement discontinuity method based on the site-specific topography. The 3D model reveals that the impact of topography is more prominent in shallow and deep regions, while the impact of tectonics is prominent in an intermediate depth range. With the implementation of inferred tectonic stress state, normal faulting regime takes place at shallow depth (<800 m); at the intermediate depth (800–1600 m), the transition of faulting regime from normal to strike-slip and then to thrust occurs; at deeper depth (>1800 m), the fault type becomes normal again. The orientations of major and minor induced horizontal stresses transition from varying with local topography to perfectly aligned with the orientations of major and minor horizontal tectonic stresses at NWN-SES 330° and NEE-SWW 60°, respectively, as depth increases.

Analysis of southwest monsoon (June to September) and annual rainfall of 12 districts of Haryana and Delhi based on fixed number of raingauge stations (36) has been made for 90-year period (1901-1990) in order to search for trends and periodicities in the rainfall. It is seen that monsoon and annual rainfall have a similar variability and is least where rainfall is maximum. It is also observed that frequency distribution of monsoon rainfall is not normal in two districts, viz., Kurukshetra and Sirsa. Positive trend is noticed in monsoon rainfall of Rohtak and Kurukshetra and annual rainfall of Delhi. Increase in the mean rainfall for 45 years period showed a gradient from first to second from the east central to the western parts of the State with a maximum value over the east central parts. Low-pass filter analysis suggests that the trend is not linear but oscillatory consisting of periods of 10years or more. The spectral analysis indicates a significant cycle of range 5.5 to 8 ..6 years mainly in eastern and southwestern districts of the State. QBO IS also observed over some districts of the State.

In 188 countries, school closures caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have prevented more than 91% of students from attending classes (UN, 2020). In the new normal period where face-to-face learning starts to be carried out again as it is today, teachers who perform well will become the driving force for expediting the teaching and learning process. The performance of State Vocational School instructors in Ogan Ilir District will be examined in this quantitative study in relation to the influence of the school principal’s academic oversight and the function of the school committee. Using a Likert scale, a questionnaire was employed as the data gathering tool. The Slovin approach was used to choose 158 participants from a population of 261 State Vocational High School instructors in the Ogan Ilir Regency. The range of norms for each variable falls into the sufficient category, according to the results of the descriptive statistical analysis. Inferential statistics that employ both basic and multiple linear regression to evaluate hypotheses. The analysis’s findings indicate that the school principal’s oversight of academics and the function of the school committee have a favorable impact on the performance of instructors at State Vocational Schools in the Ogan Ilir District.

AbstractThis article is a reasoned, normative argument for making religion education (RE) a separate, compulsory, time-tabled and totally normal school subject at all levels in public schools. With reference to Religion (RE) in Danish upper-secondary school as well as to the way Danish departments for the study of religions (RS) educate Religion teachers, key contents and principles of an RS based RE are outlined. It is stressed that only the historical and comparative study of religions can provide the scientific basis for RE, and that it must be the RS departments that educate RE teachers. It is, furthermore, suggested that normalisation of RE in public schools be added to defining characteristics of a secular state, and that scholars of religion engage not only in studies of RE but also in establishing RS based RE.
